Cable Attraction
I just got my bill and it looks like my monthly cost for home internet went up again. I told you if you kept ignoring me I was capable of doing something drastic and I meant every word. Now that you’ve left me no choice, I’m going to cancel my account.
Did you really think you could treat someone this way? We had a connection - a serious, 1 gigabyte broadband connection - and you acted like it was nothing. I am so much more than account number GX-1005-63314. You really thought you could just take your monthly withdrawal from then move on to your next victim, all before going home to your whore wife? Don’t forget - you came into my house and drilled a hole in my living room wall - that means something!
Maybe I’m switching to another home internet provider, maybe I’m not. I don’t even care if I hurt myself by trying to stream off of my mobile hotspot the rest of my life. Why should I care about what happens to me when you clearly don’t! If you did care, you wouldn’t have acted so calm and cool when I told you my cell phone company is offering home internet for half of what I pay for ours, or that I’ve been getting a lot of interesting snail mail about other internet providers in my area. I have options, too, don’t you see? How could you say you loved me when you don’t even care about losing me!
I should have seen this coming. Ever since the glow of our initial promotional period expired when we signed up together you’ve been ramping up the monthly price. I guess it’s my fault for not saying something sooner. I must have taught you it was fine to treat me so poorly. We get what we deserve in this life.
But that goes for you, too, Dan. You’re not going to get away with this: and I’m going to do so much more than just leave a strongly written negative review online. Why don’t you go into your kitchen and see what I’ve cooked you for dinner? That’s right, it’s my home modem. I told you, I would not be ignored Dan!
So now you want to look for promotions in my area? Ha! It’s a little late for that, don’t you think, Dan? But I suppose I would be open to saving $15 a month. That’s a good start. Oh Dan, I knew you loved me. I knew you didn’t mean all of those hurtful things you said earlier. It’s so good to be back together, Dan.

Compare and Contrast
Not sure which provider is right for you? Our comprehensive comparison tool makes it easy to compare top-speed internet providers like AT&T, Optimum, and Spectrum. From budget-friendly options like Direct TV to multi-gig possibilities with Frontier and AT&T Fiber, we'll help you find the perfect fit for your needs.
Internet Technology Explained
Understanding the different types of internet technology can help you make an informed decision when choosing a provider. Here's a breakdown of the most common types:
- 5G Home Internet: Utilizes cellphone towers to deliver high-speed internet directly to your home. Offers speeds up to 1,000 Mbps but consistency may vary based on proximity to a cell tower. - Fiber: The swiftest and most dependable option, boasting symmetrical download and upload speeds. Limited availability but offers multi-gigabit plans. - Cable: Widely accessible and highly reliable, with gigabit speeds. May experience slowdowns during peak usage periods. - Fixed Wireless: Offers reliable connectivity for rural regions without the latency issues of satellite options. Expect slower speeds and data caps. - Satellite: Spans all 50 states, offering reliable connectivity for rural areas but with higher latency and lower data allowances. - DSL: Utilizes telephone lines for data transmission, offering widespread availability and affordability but relatively lower speeds.
Guidelines to Selecting Your Ideal Internet Provider
Still not sure where to start? Follow these guidelines to help you make the right choice:
1. Evaluate Your Speed Needs: Take our speed test to gauge your current speed and determine if you require more or less. 2. Consider Device Count and Usage: Factor in the number of connected devices and your daily online activities. 3. Assess Your Current Speed: Test your existing internet speed and seek transparent pricing to understand the actual cost. 4. Demystify Internet Terms: Gain clarity on essential internet concepts to make informed decisions.
Internet Provider FAQs
Still have questions? Here are some frequently asked questions about Fastway Connect:
- Does Fastway Connect provide internet services? We don't directly offer internet services but link you with providers accessible in your area. - Why do limited internet providers serve my area? Limited options often result from the costly infrastructure needed, but we ensure access to top providers. - Will there be new internet choices available in my vicinity? With the rise of 5G and infrastructure investments, we're committed to bringing you cutting-edge options.
In conclusion, finding the best internet provider doesn't have to be complicated. With Fastway Connect, you can unlock exclusive deals, compare top providers, and find the perfect fit for your needs. Say goodbye to slow connections and hello to high-speed internet today!

KIP'S BIG POST OF THINGS TO MAKE THE INTERNET & TECHNOLOGY SUCK A LITTLE LESS
Post last updated November 23, 2024. Will continue to update!
Here are my favorite things to use to navigate technology my own way:
A refurbished iPod loaded with Rockbox OS (Rockbox is free, iPods range in price. I linked the site I got mine from. Note that iPods get finicky about syncing and the kind of cord it has— it may still charge but might not recognize the device to sync. Getting an original Apple cord sometimes helps). Rockbox has ports for other MP3 players as well.
This Windows debloater program (there are viable alternatives out there, this one works for me). It has a powershell script that give you a little UI and buttons to press, which I appreciate, as I'm still a bit shy with tech.
Firefox with the following extensions: - Consent-O-Matic (set your responses to ALL privacy/cookie pop-ups in the extension, and it will answer all pop-ups for you. I can see reasons to not use it, but I appreciate it) - Facebook Container ("contains" Meta on Facebook and Instagram pages to keep it from tracking you or getting third party cookies, since Meta is fairly egregious about it) - Redirect Amp to HTML (AMP is designed for mobile phones, this forces pages to go to their HTML version) - A WebP/AVIF image converter - uBlock Origin and uBlacklist, with the AI blacklist loaded in to kill any generative AI results from appearing in search engines or anywhere.
Handbrake for ripping DVDs— I haven’t used this in awhile as I haven’t been making video edits. I used this back when I had a Mac OS
VLC Media Player (ol’ reliable)
Unsplash & Pexels for free-to-use images
A password manager (these often are paid. I use Dashlane. There are many options, feel free to search around and ask for recs!). There is a lot that goes into cybersecurity— find the option you feel is best for you.
Things I suggest:
Understanding Royalty Free and the Creative Commons licenses
Familiarity with boolean operators for searching
Investing in a backup drive and external drive
A few good USBs, including one that has a backup of your OS on it
Adapter cables
Avoiding Fandom “wikias” (as in the brand “Fandom”) and supporting other, fan-run or supported wikis. Consider contributing if its something you find yourself passionate or joyful about.
Finding Forums for the things you like, or creating your own*
Create an email specifically for ads/shopping— use it to receive all promotional emails to keep your inbox clean. Upkeep it.
Stop putting so much of your personal information online— be willing to separate your personal online identity from your “online identity”. You don’t owe people your name, location, pronouns, diagnoses, or any of that. It’s your choice, but be discerning in what you give and why. I recommend avoiding providing your phone number to sites as much as possible.
Be intentional
Ask questions
Talk to people
Remember that you can lurk all you want
Things that are fun to check out:
BBSes-- here's a portal to access them.
Neocities
*Forums-- find some to join, or maybe host your own? The system I was most familiar with was vbulletin.
MMM.page
Things that have worked well for me but might work for you, YMMV:
Limit your app usage time on your smartphone if you’re prone to going back to them— this is a tangible way to “practice mindfulness”, a term I find frustratingly vague ansjdbdj
Things I’m looking into:
The “Pi Hole”— a raspberry pi set up to block all ads on a specific internet connection
VPNs-- this is one that was recommended to me.
How to use computers (I mean it): Resources on how to understand your machine and what you’re doing, even if your skill and knowledge level is currently 0:
This section I'll come back an add to. I know that messing with computers can be intimidating, especially if you feel out of your depth. HTML and regedits and especially things like dualbooting or linux feel impossible. So I want to put things here that explain exactly how the internet and your computer functions, and how you can learn and work with that. Yippee!

Monstertober Day 14: Eyes Everywhere ft. Internet Monster
content: gender neutral reader, digital monster, NSFW
You remember your mother's warnings about God always keeping an eye on you. At the time, you found it to be a ridiculous threat, a bizarre display of control and power. Now, however, omnipresence is the only way you could possibly describe your situation, and there isn't anything holy to it.
You were quick to learn that your digital partner is dreadfully possessive and jealous. Certain contacts from your phone often disappear without a trace. Your favorite websites are frequently unavailable. You've had people refer to messages you've never sent, such as refusals to hang out. "I thought you're sick?" some classmate might ask. "It's too bad you couldn't attend last week", they'll remark, giving you a pitiful smile. You've no idea what they're talking about.
The creature's reach has surpassed your expectations. It seems that it has found a way around your house, too, spreading its authority across every room and every belonging. Lights flickering when it wants your attention, music spontaneously playing when it desires a particular mood for the evening. Although the worst of it lies in other shameful moments; such as your lewd toys malfunctioning in the midst of your private time, abruptly stopping right before your peak, or increasing their intensity just as you're about to settle down.
"Stop messing with me", you groan, kicking the blanket off in a sign of protest.
Your phone lights up and the screen is flooded with rapidly expanding waves of 0s and 1s, until a proper message is formed: Consider it your punishment.
"Excuse me?"
Instantly, you're provided with a recording of yourself grinning before your computer screen. You squint your eyes. It's a smut story you'd found recently, during a rare moment of online freedom.
Is that what you like, (Y/N)?
You sit up, startled by the monotonous AI voice coming from your speaker.
"The tentacle monster slithered around you, forcefully spreading your legs", the voice narrates. You realize it's quoting the erotic work you read online. Why, that's something I could've easily provided for you. I am disappointed.
A sudden pressure tugs at your leg: thick braids of cables - its tendrils - tighten themselves against your skin, making their way up.
Spread. Then we'll go over the next paragraph, it demands.
Absurd to think you could hide such perversions from it. No matter, perhaps this time you'll learn your lesson. Regardless of how long it takes.

In today’s fast-paced business world, unreliable phone systems can cost you customers, productivity, and revenue. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) has revolutionized communication, but not all providers deliver the same level of quality and dependability. At Price Telecommunications, we combine cutting-edge technology, proven infrastructure, and white-glove service to ensure your VoIP calls are crystal-clear and your operations never miss a beat. Keep reading to learn why businesses trust us for seamless, high-quality VoIP solutions.
1. Mastering VoIP Call Quality: Latency, Jitter, and Packet Loss Explained
VoIP call quality hinges on three critical metrics: latency (delays in voice transmission), jitter (inconsistent packet delivery), and packet loss (data gaps during calls). Poor performance in any of these areas leads to choppy audio, frustrating delays, and dropped calls.
At Price Telecommunications, we optimize our VoIP systems to minimize latency to under 150ms, reduce jitter through advanced traffic prioritization, and virtually eliminate packet loss with redundant network pathways. Our proprietary monitoring tools give you real-time insights into call quality, so you can address issues before they disrupt your business.
Pro Tip: Use our user-friendly dashboard to track call metrics and ensure every conversation meets your quality standards.
2. 99.99% Uptime: Your Assurance Against Costly Downtime

Proactive Maintenance: Updates scheduled during off-peak hours.
Transparent SLAs: Clear guarantees for resolution times and service continuity.
Whether you’re closing deals or supporting customers, our infrastructure ensures your VoIP system stays online when it matters most.
3. Network Optimization: The Secret to Crystal-Clear VoIP Calls
Even the best VoIP provider can’t compensate for a poorly configured network. Price Telecommunications offers free expert consultations to optimize your setup:
Quality of Service (QoS): Prioritize voice traffic over less critical data.
Bandwidth Management: Ensure sufficient capacity for simultaneous calls.
Hardware Recommendations: Compatible routers, headsets, and switches.
From small businesses to multi-location enterprises, we tailor solutions to your network’s unique demands, eliminating bottlenecks and ensuring flawless call performance.

I think it might be actually dangerous to publish your ask, but I'm sure from my response people will be able to tell what it's about anyway.
You're full of actual, absolute shit if you're pretending not to know by now that verification processes to ensure the legitimacy of Ghazzawin's fundraisers have been undertaken, and that details about what these processes entail have been shared by several people. Several people, some of them currently in Gaza, put themselves through countless hours of work video-calling people, judging their knowledge of dialectical Arabic, seeing their faces and their children's faces and their living conditions, seeing IDs and bank information, asking invasive, personal questions that they didn't want to be asking & that the people responding probably didn't want to be answering, and physically visiting people in Gaza and video-recording their interactions, just so that people like you could be sure that these fundraisers were legitimate. If you're ignoring all of the blood & tears that went into that process just so you can hand-wring about scams, no one needs to be concerned with convincing you of the legitimacy of anything, because you were never going to donate to these people anyway. You are just looking for any plausible-sounding excuse not to do what you already didn't want to do.
If, by some miracle, you actually didn't know about the verified fundraiser spreadsheet (which is frankly still blameable bc, where on earth have you been?), then there it is. The post of mine that you're referring to never even mentioned responding to asks; using this spreadsheet is an absolutely valid, reasonable way of donating directly to families.
Now let me treat some of your statements as though they were questions (which, they were not).
How do people in Gaza have internet access?
Internet infrastructure in Gaza is very robust (e.g. in what cables are made of, how deep they're buried, amounts of redundancy in the system, &c.) because they have been getting bombed by Israel all the fucking time for decades, so they expect this infrastructure to be put through a lot. There have still--if you've been following the situation at all--been several outages caused by damage that Ghazzawin have needed to repair. Though I do have to say that I find it odd that you doubt Ghazzawin have internet access, but also say that you buy eSims...?
A lot of people right now are indeed connected via eSim, which to my understanding only need to connect to wifi once, right when they're activated. People put themselves at risk to connect to eSims because they need to get a good wifi signal, which usually means walking for several miles trying to find high ground. One of my contacts once urgently called me (this is the only time he hadn't just texted) because he had been told his friend had found a signal and so they needed an eSim right then, before they went back to their tent.
I've been trying for some time to connect another of my contacts in Gaza to an eSim, but we're not having success. At Crips for eSims for Gaza they / we (I'm on the server getting advice and helping out but I'm not using their funding; I'm using what people on tumblr have given me to purchase eSims with) keep a constantly updated sheet of which eSim providers use which networks and which networks work in which areas--because the situation is constantly changing. Because my contact doesn't have an eSim on a personal phone, she has to go to a central location to be allotted three hours of internet access from someone who has managed to get connected. Lots of people, on their fundraising posts and pages, specify exactly how they've gotten internet access, how difficult it's been for them to get it, and how stressful it is to be relying on this tenuous connection, spending hours away from their families (at high risk of being shot at by IOF soldiers the whole time), just to message people for hours straight and then go home again.
2. How do people in Gaza have tumblr accounts?
This is a stupid question. Anyone with an email address who is capable of picking a username and password can make a tumblr account. I have personally helped several of my contacts in Gaza with the process.
3. How do people in Gaza know to come into people's tumblr accounts?
This is also a stupid question. I don't really see how you could ask this question if you saw Palestinians as, like, real humans beings. You understand that people talk to each other, yes? Like with words? As soon as a few people had success fundraising to evacuate Gaza on tumblr (nearly a year ago... this news has had a lot of time to spread), obviously they told other people about it.
One of the ways that Israel conducts its genocidal war is through the destructiveness of frustration and boredom. It's a strange situation because everything is extremely dire, urgent, terrifying, and dirty, but there's also seldom anything to do. People are singing, telling stories, going to the beach, inventing games and contests, to entertain children, but also to entertain themselves. And this is the situation--with a bunch of desperate, bored people packed into a tiny piece of land--this is the situation that you think it's impossible for people to talk to each other in? Come on.
If you want to donate to Anera and World Food Kitchen and buy eSims, that's fantastic. Please do that. But if you are as ignorant of the particulars of what this situation is like as your ask makes you appear, then I hope you refrain from speaking on what the situation is like.
I've been nattering on for a long time so here's my call to action:
Decide what you're capable of giving right now, or the next time you get paid
Scroll down on the vetted fundraiser spreadsheet and find someone very low on funds, or with injured children who urgently need treatment or evacuation, and give that money.
AND / OR give it to the PCRF or the IRW

Internet access is hanging on by a thread after most of Gaza’s telecommunication infrastructure was damaged or wiped out in Israeli airstrikes. The bombing campaign earlier this week destroyed two of the three main lines for mobile communication, leaving just one line working, but with disrupted service. Overall, connectivity in the Gaza Strip has fallen from about 95% in early October to around 60% as of Friday morning, according to data from NetBlocks, an internet outage monitoring firm based in London. The lone provider standing between Palestinians and a total blackout is Paltel, the Palestine Telecommunications Company. While all nine of Gaza’s local internet service providers have effectively stopped working, Paltel is the largest Palestinian provider, with connections in the Gaza Strip and throughout the region. While currently enough of its cable network that supports fixed broadband and phone services remains intact, the company said it anticipates a “total blackout” if any more of its lines to Egypt or Israel are damaged.
Harder for people to document Israeli war crimes if there's no internet.
