jihoon’s distracted, and he knows it. given soonyoung’s concerned gaze, he knows it too.
“we can pick this up later”, his friend offers, “we have time”.
“no, it’s okay”, jihoon responds, not sounding nearly as sincere as he should, “i said we’d do this”.
it’s true. as much as he rolls his eyes at soonyoung’s “tiger agenda”, he promised his friend a tiger-themed song for International Tiger Day, and jihoon is a man of his word. he can’t just stop for today, as much as he desperately wants to.
“we have more than a month”, soonyoung insists, “how about we continue tomorrow? after gym?”
jihoon sighs. he knows his mind is focused on something else today, knows that he can’t help his friend today. he bids soonyoung goodbye as he leaves his studio, and it’s a testament to how preoccupied he is that he doesn’t roll his eyes at soonyoung’s illicit smirk.
you. he’s got you on his mind.
and no, it’s not the way soonyoung thinks.
you haven’t texted jihoon in the last 12 hours, and he’s losing his mind trying to figure out why.
to most people, this might not be a big deal. after all, most of those hours were in the night — the period of the day in which people generally sleep. but you almost never sleep before 2 AM, and neither does he — and the two of you always text during the night. always.
so understandably, jihoon is a little freaked out about the lack of messages from you. his texts and calls to you have gone unanswered, and he’s hoping it’s not on purpose.
as he manoeuvres his car through traffic, he tries to think of the last time the two of you met. it was two — no, three — no, wait, four days ago. you had dropped by his studio for dinner, and mentioned feeling overwhelmed with your master’s thesis. he was working on a track, he remembers.
maybe he was distracted. maybe it dawned on you that he wasn’t available enough, that he wouldn’t be there for you when you needed him the most. maybe you decided to cut your losses and ditch him.
the logical part of his brain knows that that’s very improbable. the two of you talk, and you have always told him when he did something that bothered you. the other part of his brain, however, has been almost waiting for this to happen.
yes, you’re busy too, and yes, you dislike big flashy dates as much as he does, and yes, you prefer night-ins spent just talking — but maybe you realized something, maybe you decided that you deserve better.
the significance of your presence in his life has never hit jihoon so hard, and he’s hoping that he hasn’t fucked this up.
he doesn’t think he’s ever made the journey from your building’s parking lot to your floor so fast — he’s racing through the stairs to the second floor, and for once he doesn’t dwell on how your landlord should cut down your rent because the elevator is somehow always under repair. actually, he’s not thinking about anything but you — and how he feels like the ground under him might give out any second.
he’s felt this way before, back when his group was new to the industry. he remembers the uncertainty, remembers the feeling of dread. he didn’t think he’d ever feel it again, least of all in a romantic relationship. this is what happens when you find a home, he thinks.
he has to stop himself from pressing your doorbell the second he stops in front of your apartment. he manages to wait for about twelve seconds while he catches his breath, before giving in, lightly panting.
the door opens and you emerge in your blue pajamas, your eyes squinting at his figure. he’s woken you up.
“jihoon?”, you blink, a confused smile making its way to your face, “what are you — “, you stand up straight, and he knows you’ve noticed his sweaty forehead and quick breaths, “everything okay?”
“yeah, i, uh”, he stutters for a moment, because he hadn’t thought about what to actually say to you, “you weren’t picking up my calls”.
seriously? he does a mental face-palm. “you weren’t picking up my calls?”
“just came to check if everything is okay” there. that sounds more reasonable.
“oh?”, you move to let him in, closing the door behind you while you answer, “ah yeah! i had a couple of drinks last night with my team, and came home and passed out. left my phone outside, i think”.
oh. jihoon feels the knot in his chest loosen up. he hasn’t fucked his up. you’re still here, he hasn’t lost his home.
“sorry about that”, you continue when he doesn’t respond, “didn’t mean to worry you”.
“no, it’s okay”, he offers, smiling when he notices that you’re wearing your pajama shirt inside-out, “i wasn’t that worried”.
it’s a lie, but you don’t need to know.
“anyway, i’m just going to chill out today”, you say as you pull out your coffee cup, “maybe cook a little, read a book”, you turn to him with another cup in hand, his cup. “wanna have coffee before you go off for work? it’s soonyoung’s tiger song for today, right?”
“he ditched me today”, jihoon pretends to be annoyed, but he can’t help the smile that grows on his face when you laugh, “i can hang around here, if that’s okay”.
“ofcourse”, you smile, and jihoon has to hold back from pulling you into a hug. you do it for him though, wrapping your arms around his waist and sighing into his shoulder. “i missed you”.
jihoon holds back from telling you the truth about his work today. and about the tensed car ride here. and how he ran up the stairs of your defective building. and how he hopes you’ll never get tired of holding him like this.
he’ll tell you later, he knows. later, when it’s not too freaky to tell you what you mean to him, when he’s sure he can say it out loud in words that make sense. later, when he’s sure he’s your home, too.
for now, he just wounds his arms around you and pulls you even closer.
“i missed you too”.

OUR SCARS ARE OUR TIGER STRIPES
We as the human embodiment are perfectly imperfect, and our imperfections unite us through our recovery.
Our scars whether they are located on the metaphysical or physical plain, represents our contrapuntal existence, and are a celebration of life.
The recovery process allows us as individuals to regain insight into our bodies, to learn that we are more than the body, we are consciousness. We are experiencing natural transformations as we comprehend that we are not the illness, label or event, we just experienced it, but it does not define us.
Whether our scars have been derived from recovery, illness, birth, or are an invisible emotional wound, we honour them, as they serve as a reminder of strength and perseverance.
Fibrosis occurs in response to injury. Fibrous connective tissue supports, protects, and holds everything intact. However, once damaged due to an injury or procedure seldomly cannot be repaired or return to its natural state.
One might ask, what do scars represent? May it be a larger question about our existence?
During recovery, we discover that our life reflects uncertainty, as we feel in many cases a loss of control or powerlessness. The fabric of our support system may be deteriorated, as we may experience withdrawal from society or in some cases our external layer of protection or foundation is pushed to its limit.
Recovery presents itself as a time of reflection, rest, and rejuvenation. Time is no longer measured in years, months, weeks, days, hours, or minutes, it is reduced to seconds. During the critical moments, we are consciously aware of remaining present, for time is a precious commodity during the recovery process. It places into perspective if we have valued time or taken it for granted.
As we open ourselves to recovery, our external and internal elements are exposed, thus, creating vulnerability, which is uncomfortable, as we are forced with the responsibility to recognize the situation at hand. Our scar is significant as it is a universal gift of allowing light within.
It is essential to embrace self empathy, self compassion, self love, self care, and self respect, for our scars represent courage and strength, for we have overcome barriers, challenges, and they represent at their core = survival.
Society educates individuals to conceal their scars from normal activity however, I feel we need to embrace them. Each wound or scar, is an intricate story, that will enable assistance to others along their journey. If we conceal our scars, we then are giving away our power and our voice to our truth.
Does the scar represent discomfort because we are trying to salvage what once was? Does our scar enable us to focus on our emotions as it is a reminder that the past was real? Does our scar make us feel shame because we are now going against the grain of conformity and are now not perceived as perfect? Does the scar enable us to allow self acceptance as we are diverse in nature and the lesson is to focus on what makes us an enigma?
No matter what shape your body is, no imperfections define your value or worth. Honour your imperfections as it does not constitute that you are weak or undesirable.
The structure and composition of scars remind me of nature — if you examine a leafs veins and the abnormal patterns that each one has — we find this beautiful and astonishing. Why do we not allow ourself the same inherent right of self respect for our own bodies to grow in their own unique way like nature does? Nature does not conform to a certain rhythm, it blooms within its own time, and grows along its own path. Nature has many imperfections which we cherish thus, we need to evoke that same type of self love, nurture, and care for ourselves.
We need to be consciously aware and mindful when we are speaking about our imperfections. We must promote tolerance and acceptance, as future generations look to us as role models to set the tone for development. If we instruct generations that if our bodies do not cohere to a certain stereotype, we then influence destructive body self image issues.
Our body is our temple, a celebration of life, our unique signature, and our scars give us the opportunity to delve into our wounds.
There is a beautiful saying that states “The strongest heart has the most scars.” In any form of recovery, it involves patience. Be at peace with yourself.
As we delve into our past trajectories, our soul might have been etched by remorse, loss, grief, anger, or regret. The universe then allows us to examine what we have endured, to enlighten us about what it represents, and what resulted from our experiences. Could it perhaps be a generational wound that in this lifetime needed to be healed?
Look at your scars as battle scars, tiger stripes, metaphysical veins of evolution, they signify the end of disease, new cycles and beginnings, to become more flexible in our life, to embrace change, to understand that we are recovering from pain endured whether it be physical or psychological injury.
It takes a lot of strength, perseverance, and courage to endure and to be able overcome challenges. Our resilience is evident when we chose to take risks, to believe that no matter the obstacle, surviving is the only option.
Always evoke and honour providence, as the universe supports us along our journey. We must embody deep appreciation and gratitude for our health, as we are embracing and embarking on new beginnings, and the freedom for change as a new chapter will present itself.
Process your emotional wounds as karmic imprints which represents events from previous incarnations. Yield, surrender and embrace change, allow yourself the time and patience to heal because as we heal ourselves humanity becomes healthier, stronger, resilient. Your role in this process is sacred and precious because as we embody acceptance to uncertainty, we enable the universe to direct us to our purpose. As we heal, the universe heals, as we are all one. Our existence serves a greater purpose, and our scars are the roadmap to self awareness.

International Tiger Day 2024:
Debunking Myths With Facts
here are numerous misconceptions that surround certain animals, including tigers that have unfortunately fallen victim to this as well. Tigers are large, vivid, majestic animals of the wild, and yet, they have the exceptional ability to camouflage. They are apex predators that keep a balance in the ecological food chain. They are a keystone species, and help the forest they inhabit remain alive. But the significance of striped cats is sadly shadowed by negative perception and partial understanding of the species that is shared among the masses. Awareness about animals that we share our planet with can promote a much-needed sensitivity towards wildlife.
On this year’s International Tiger Day, let’s bust five myths that unfairly cling to these big cats, and present some of the most fascinating facts about them!
Myth #1: All Tigers Are Man-Eaters!
Fact
Over the last few years, we have heard many cases about tigers that have been called man-eaters. However, not all tigers are man-eaters. Most of the alleged man-eaters resort to this due to an injury they sustained or due to old age, which makes them weak and desperate. Many encounters between humans and tigers take place because forest areas are now closer to rapidly expanding human settlements. Tigers are solitary, territorial animals and each requires large territories to themselves so that they have access to abundant prey. However, the loss of habitat has also led to lack of prey for a tiger’s survival. Human habitation closeby therefore becomes a convenient spot for wild animals to find food sources. Most encounters between humans and tigers entail threats of attacks or the gathering of a violent mob around the animal, to which tigers, in an act of self-defense, are liable to aggressively respond. While humans aren’t primarily on their list of prey, certain situations lead them to charge at humans, making tigers feared by most.

Two years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Kremlin is restructuring and expanding the country’s military in anticipation of a conflict with NATO within the next 10 years, Estonia’s foreign and military intelligence chiefs said in an interview on Wednesday.
Contrary to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s expectation of seizing the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, in a matter of days, the first months of the invasion revealed profound shortcomings in Russian military planning as poorly equipped troops foundered in the face of fierce resistance by the Ukrainian armed forces. Experts as well as U.S. and foreign officials were quick to declare the Russian army a paper tiger.
“The Kremlin often claimed it had the second-strongest military in the world,” U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a speech last June. “Today, many see Russia’s military as the second-strongest in Ukraine.”
But as the war enters its third year, Putin is looking increasingly confident. His main political rival, Alexei Navalny, is dead; vital U.S. military aid to Ukraine is stalled in Congress; and Russia has shifted its economy to a war footing, fueling defense production and economic growth in defiance of international sanctions.
“Everything is more or less going to the plan again” for Russia, said Kaupo Rosin, the director-general of the Estonian Foreign Intelligence Service (EFIS), during a meeting with a small group of journalists in Washington.
Russian military leaders have learned from the mistakes of the opening phases of the war and are adapting with uncharacteristic speed. “It seems that the Russians are, in principle, turning into a learning organization in the military,” said Rosin, who added that they were now resolving problems encountered on the battlefield within a matter of months.
The Ukrainian armed forces have impressed Western military leaders with their ability to innovate on the battlefield and adapt to new technologies, which has given them an edge against a larger and better-equipped adversary. Russia’s centralized control structure is slow to learn, but when it does, “it is able to systematize it across the military and through its large defense industry,” retired Australian Army Maj. Gen. Mick Ryan wrote in Foreign Affairs in February.
“The Russians, according to our understanding, have always fixed their issues or problems through mass. And this has worked out for them throughout history,” said Rosin, adding that reforms to the Russian armed forces were likely to result in a low-tech, Soviet-style army with “a lot of firepower and artillery.”
In late 2022, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced plans to overhaul the structure of the country’s armed forces and expand its personnel by 30 percent, to 1.5 million people, by 2026. The Kremlin’s “highest priority for force generation lies in the Western strategic direction and Ukraine,” EFIS noted in its public annual report, published in February.
In light of Finland’s accession to NATO, which doubled the military alliance’s shared border with Russia, Moscow may look to double the nearly 19,000 troops it had stationed at its western borders before the invasion of Ukraine, the report added. Since that report was published, Sweden has also formally joined NATO.
The Russian reforms have been accompanied by a significant boost in military spending, with defense set to account for one-third of all government spending this year, while arms manufacturers have been urged to work around the clock.
As military aid from the United States has been held up by partisan infighting on Capitol Hill, congressional leaders have warned that Ukrainian troops have been forced to ration their use of artillery shells even as they face punishing barrages from Russian forces.
Moscow has dipped into its stockpile of artillery shells, ramped up production, and even turned to North Korea and Iran for imports, leaving Russia with a 7-to-1 firepower advantage over Ukraine, said Ants Kiviselg, the head of Estonian military intelligence. On Monday, CNN reported that Russia is on course to produce three times more artillery munitions than Europe and the United States.
Estonia, which was occupied by the Soviet Union during the Cold War, has long been regarded as punching above its weight when it comes to its intelligence assessments of Russian capabilities and intentions. After the end of the Cold War, the Baltic country was used as an early testing ground for Russian disinformation and cyberwarfare tactics that were later used against the United States.
The stark warnings from Estonia’s intelligence chiefs echo similar remarks from other senior European policymakers and defense officials.
In January, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius warned that Russia could seek to attack a NATO member state within “five to eight years,” while his Danish counterpart, Troels Lund Poulsen, said the speed with which Russia was rearming had forced NATO officials to revise their assessments. “It cannot be ruled out that within a three- to five-year period, Russia will test Article 5 and NATO’s solidarity. That was not NATO’s assessment in 2023. This is new knowledge that is coming to the fore now,” he said in early February.
In January, the chief of the British Army, Gen. Patrick Sanders, warned that the British public must be prepared for a potential conflict with Russia.
A war between Russia and NATO is not inevitable, said Rosin, who noted that much could still be done to deter Moscow. “A lot of the future scenarios depend on our activities in the West,” he said.
“The concrete task at hand,” he added, “is to make Ukraine successful in this war because the future in Europe depends heavily on the outcome of this war.”

So I was scrolling through tumblr and saw a pic of Mike and Will at Halloween in the basement in front off this poster.
The poster is in the basement in S1 and S2 and El got in her room in S3 and S4.
I know that some people already analyzed this thing so I might just be repeating stuff for some off you.
But the interesting thing about this is the fact that the basketball game in S4 is between the Hawkins High Tigers and the Jordan High Falcons
So I got hooked up again and took a look at falcons and their meaning.
Falcons embody victory, rulership, and overcoming. However, like other birds, falcons can also represent a connection to the spirit world
(Source: https://a-z-animals.com/blog/falcon-spirit-animal-symbolism-meaning/)
It's interesting that the byler/mlvn love triangle is visualized with the falcon poster. If falcons embody victory it seems likely that El, Mike and Will as trio are crucial for their victory against Vecna. Obviously we already now that Els powers are important and that Will have an important role in S5 but it also points out that Mike's role in S5 is significant. Seeing how the plan off the Hawkins Gang failed and knowing how Mike already talked about how you can't shoot the UD-monsters and don't win if you just burn them it is very obvious that the plan would have been different if Mike had been there.
The Overcoming part in the symbolism is also very interesting. I wonder what the might overcome (Gay Love saves the day).
Positive characteristics of the falcon :
Ambitious
Outgoing
Natural Leader
Strategic
Decision Maker
Visionary
Problem Solver
Thrives under Pressure
Mike represents basically all of the positive characteristics of the falcon.
Negative characteristics of the falcon:
Impatient
Prone to taking risks
Impulsive
Easily distracted
Hot-headed
Aggressive behavior
Obsession with power and control
Unforgiving
Self-centeredness
Superiority complex
Most off the negative characteristics are also very Mike-Like. Easily distracted, Aggressive behavior and Superiority complex are not very fitting but the rest is right on the money.
If you see a falcon, it means you’re approaching a new chapter in your life — an opportunity to soar to new heights. The falcon is a reminder to look ahead and focus on the future. Don’t let your past experiences hold you back; use them as stepping stones to success.
The falcon also represents wisdom, so it’s a sign that you should trust your intuition and make decisions wisely. Take time to reflect upon your choices before making them. This animal guide is caring and wise beyond your years. Reflecting on choices with a falcon outlook will help you avoid emotional obstacles.
The falcon is often a reminder to stay free with your mind and body and be brave. This could mean trying new things, even if you need to improve immediately.
Let the falcon encourage you to play! Dance in public, play a new sport, and tag with friends. Be free with how you move and walk. The way you move matters. Express yourself without holding back.
Falcons don’t worry about how they look, and neither should you! You’re perfect just as you are, and you deserve to feel good.
Falcon sightings can represent freedom, intuition, protection, and vision. When you call upon this spirit animal for guidance and understanding, it will help you soar to new heights and open your eyes to a new world of possibilities.
So the falcon sighting is basically a step Mike has to take. He has to trust his intuition (which will draw him to Will) and he has to express himself without holding back (talking about his trauma) so he can finally overcome the things that take him down (Internalized homophobia).
The falcon symbolizes freedom, intuition, and bravery. Falcons have a keen eye for detail and never miss an opportunity. Listen to your intuition and trust your gut instinct.
Falcons are also associated with victory, guardianship, and protection. When you have the falcon as your spirit animal, you are a warrior defending what’s important to you. You will fight for justice and protect those around you from harm, even if it means putting yourself in danger.

India as an Emerging Power: Challenges and Prospects- Part 2
Table of contents
• India's Role in the Global Economy
• Political Landscape and Foreign Relations
• Conclusion
India's Role in the Global Economy
Move over, world! India is stepping onto the global stage and ready to strut its stuff. With a rising middle class and a consumer market that is hotter than a summer day in Delhi, India is a force to be reckoned with.
But it's not just about shopping and spending. India is also making waves in the tech and start-up scene. Move aside Silicon Valley, Bengaluru is where the real innovation is happening. With a boom in technology and entrepreneurship, India is churning out bright minds and game-changing ideas faster than you can say "unicorn startup".
And let's not forget about outsourcing and the service sector. It may not sound glamorous, but it's a key player in India's economic growth. From call centers to IT services, India is the go-to destination for businesses looking for affordable talent and quality work. We've got all your customer service needs covered, with a side of chai.
So next time you're sipping on your morning coffee and using a fancy new app. remember that it might just be powered by India. We're not just the land of yoga and curry, we're shaping the global economy one billion-strong population at a time. So, buckle up world, because India is ready to take center stage. And trust me, you don't want to miss the show.
Political Landscape and Foreign Relations
India's political landscape is as diverse as it comes. With a proud tradition of democracy and a population that could easily create a football team, India's political scene is truly a sight to behold. It's a lot like going to a potluck dinner, where you get a little taste of everything.
One of the key pillars of India's political system is its democracy. Unlike some countries where leaders are chosen based on their ability to wave a flag, India prides itself on giving everyone a say in who gets to run the show. It's like a reality TV show, but with less drama and more debating.
But it's not all sunshine and rainbows. India also has its fair share of security concerns, especially when it comes to nuclear power. With great power comes great responsibility, and India knows that all too well. It's like having a pet tiger in your backyard - you have to make sure it doesn't get out and create mischief.
In addition to domestic issues, India also has to navigate the complexities of regional and international alliances. It's like trying to juggle multiple relationships at once. Sometimes you have to choose between attending your friend's wedding and going to your cousin's birthday party. It's a delicate balancing act, and India is the ultimate multitasker.
So, when it comes to India's political landscape and foreign relations, it's a colorful tapestry of democracy, security concerns, and international alliances. It's like a Bollywood movie - full of drama, action, and a few dance numbers thrown in for good measure. India is a protagonist in its own right, navigating its way through a complex web of challenges and opportunities. Buckle up, folks, because this is one rollercoaster ride you won't want to miss.
Conclusion
India, with its immense potential on the global stage, faces a multitude of challenges, Overpopulation and the management of resources pose significant hurdles. Social Inequality and poverty hinder progress and innovation. Corruption and bureaucracy add an extra layer of complexity. However, India also has promising prospects. The demographic dividend, coupled with investment in infrastructure, can fuel growth. Moreover, India's expanding global influence is a positive sign. In terms of the global economy, India's rising middle class and booming tech and start-up scene, along with its service sector, play a pivotal role. Politically, India's democracy and diversity, nuclear power, and regional and international alliances shape its position. In conclusion, India's journey as an emerging power presents both challenges and opportunities that need to be navigated strategically.

Pain. Cost of change and progress. Cost of inaction.
I recently read an article on LinkedIn, and for certain reasons, it really spoke to me at that moment.
Guess it shouldn't come as a surprise, since most of the points hit really close to home. I was hurting.
No progress without pain. I read something similar to this sometime early in December, and I think a part of me internalized it. I wanted to find a reason, a meaning as to why I was hurting back then. The breakup, the sudden loss of my only source of validation, reassurance, and positive feelings in the form of my partner, the realization of my own character and person; all of that hurt me immensely. I needed a "why" to bear it, I wanted an answer to soothe me in that moment. It was, progress. It was a change, a marking point for me. I did learn and grow from it, albeit the change and decision itself didn't come from me, but I accepted it nonetheless. No regrets, and honestly thankful.
But as the pain subsides, so did my motivation and willingness to change and progress. I sought meaning in the suffering and got complacent as it goes away.
Now, a while after that, I find myself not too far off from my original position, having drifted down the current just a little bit. And this is where it hits me. I remember all the things I said and wanted for myself. I remember being in love with my potential, daydreaming about the days-not-too-far-off. But that's where it ends. I'm still stuck in that cycle of frustration, failure, defeat, self-pity, and emotional regulation,... By doing nothing, I am setting myself up for future frustrations and regret; I'm not honoring my own potential; I'm betraying the belief I have in myself, and the belief my loved ones have in me.
I want to change. I want to prove that I want to change. I want to be the best I can be.
I have a bad habit of taking in too much information, up to the point of me not really being sure what's what. Read, read, read... Consume, consume, consume,...
"Be kind to yourself"; "Take as much time as you need"; "Mental health comes first";...
I'm not saying these are bad advices, but I tend to twist words around, rationalize and find loopholes in order to procrastinate, avoid pain, and stay in my comfort zone. Honestly, what would be good for me right now is probably some good ol' fashioned Asian-Tiger-Parenting XD
But jokes aside, I don't want to stay in one place anymore.
Too many people fall in love with potential but fail to honor the process.
I fell madly in love with my potential. Infatuated, obsessed, love-struck,... all of that. But that's not enough for me. I want it to be a reality. Here's to no more daydreaming, and baseless hopes.
I don't enjoy pain. I never did. Ever since I was a kid, I was always afraid of it. I would much rather wait till my tooth fall off by itself, instead of actually pulling it off. I would keep a band-aid on for weeks, I would avoid all things that could cause me pain or discomfort. Some make sense, but some robbed me of potentially fun and rewarding experiences, like going up a mountain, or meeting interesting people, or becoming incredibly jacked.
It's understandable, and human nature almost, to avoid pain and dislike being uncomfortable, but nowadays, or at least in my case, through pains and through discomforts is how I'll be able to move forward, and progress. It's like resistance training, and that includes also actual resistance training xD
I welcome pain. I want it. I expect it. It hurts, and it's uncomfortable, but it's a sign that I am trying to do better, and that brings more pleasure and happiness than anything I could possibly imagine.
A final note for myself:
Trust the process.
While you may feel like you are not moving as fast as you would like, you must understand that what is being forged in you will empower you to leave a legacy that speaks beyond your lifetime. Stop worrying about how fast your life is moving and instead focus on how fruitful your life is becoming. Progress is not about speed but significance.

I know comparing the original movie to the new movie is like comparing apples and oranges, but I really wish that the a.ss.ault scene was a little more in line with the original.
Yes, it's fine that Graziella is there. There's pros and cons to that too, especially considering that she kind of instigates it and then backpedals when it becomes not a them or us situation, but a women's situation. It's the one plane per the movie that they can relate one ( though graziella is such a missed opportunity as a character, especially since during this time period a good chunk of Italian girls were doing pretty much anything to not be considered Italian. Legit there's an internment camp that mainly housed Italian Americans during the war and continued to house Italians and other immigrants during the Red Scare up until it's closure in 1954 only like a few miles away. Ellis island was not the best of places.) That's a whole other discussion though .
I think what's hard about this scene boils down to two major issues for me. The first being that they took music from the mambo sequence instead of replaying america. The original Broadway show( it's even on the vinyl record. I'll have to double check if it's on Spotify too. The soundtrack has been messed with over the years for what tracks stayed on and in what order) had a reprise of America playing during this particular scene.
This is important because most of the action within WSS takes place within the music and the dialogue. In the new movie that isn't really there. most of the action is just that. Action. Whole most of the original is there, the new movie cuts out some pretty significant lines throughout the feature.
Anita was the driving positive force about pro-Americanism and assimilating. This whole scene not only shows violence around woc but how that American Dream was never intended for a person like her and the show puts that in the hands of the whitest jets possible. Characters that were more ethnic nonwhite ( like diesel, a-rab, and tiger, sometime it was mouthpiece in tigers stead) were not present for the assault. They were doing what they what they were supposed to be doing: looking for Tony. The remaining Jets don't bother to send someone out to let everyone else know that they found him.
And remember that in both the 1961 movie and the 1957 show Anybodys is an active participant in what happened to Anita, only backing off at the very end just as Doc comes in to stop it coming to fruition. Right as they do the symbolic backflip of Anita Anybodys breaks away. This is also another discussion for a different post.
What bothers me most about the new movie is that they not only played the mambo music instead of America's reprise ( noted this was changed in the special editions of the 61 film as well) but they cut some very important dialogue that happens right after.
Noted, most reviews and scholarly articles cut this dialogue out of their arguments too. Because if that dialogue is brought to light then they can't blame 100% of the violent behavior of the jets on the jets.
Which, in Anita's case, you totally can and still include the dialogue. This dialogue is important because it showcases what drives people to do these unthinkable things and while environmental circumstances play a factor, it more so focuses on the adults around them. On their own abuse and reaction to being abused. On how grief is handled. On acting out and being alone. It also has a lot to say on the age old argument " it's your generation's fault that everything is bad as it is. In my day we didnt act like that. In my day the world was better because my generation was better ."
No one likes to admit fault in themselves especially when unspeakable acts are involved. But no one wants to admit that they handed the capability for the unspeakable down to the generation after them. They will just be disappointed when the next generation fails to do better. Does this justify what happened to Anita? Absolutely not and it never should have happened. She was a victim.
So when she utters I'm am a Puerto Rican, you should feel this deep sorrow for her and her dreams, her hopes, and her life. I certainly didn't feel that in any viewings of the movie. I just didn't hit the way it was meant to. You can tell kuschner tried very hard though . I deeply appreciate that.
The dialogue that's missing which was replaced by Valentina's speech also, while hitting home, didn't have an effect like it was supposed to.
I didn't and still don't have a strong attachment to the 61 film, so I can't say it's my rose tinted nostalgia glasses that make me think this way. I just think the original dialogue hits harder and has a lot more to say.
DOC: When do you kids stop? You make this world lousy!
ACTION: We didn't make it, Doc
Two lines. That's all that needs put back.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman Dismisses Reports of Equity Stake at All-Hands Meeting
[Source – business-standard.com]
At an all-hands meeting on Thursday, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman addressed rumors regarding his potential acquisition of a substantial equity stake in the company. Altman denied these claims, calling them “just not true,” according to an attendee who spoke on condition of anonymity. Alongside Altman, OpenAI’s Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar also commented, noting that investors had raised concerns over Altman not having any equity in the highly valued artificial intelligence firm, which he co-founded nearly nine years ago.
No Plans for Equity Stake for Sam Altman
Sam Altman clarified that there are no current plans for him to receive an equity stake in OpenAI, despite ongoing discussions. “There are no current plans here,” Altman reportedly said during the meeting, which was conducted via video. OpenAI Chairman Bret Taylor further confirmed that while the board had considered compensating Altman with equity, no specific figures or decisions have been made. “The board has had discussions about whether it would be beneficial to the company and our mission to have Sam be compensated with equity, but no specific figures have been discussed nor have any decisions been made,” Taylor told CNBC in a statement.
OpenAI Faces Executive Departures Amid Restructuring Talks
The meeting also came on the heels of ongoing discussions within OpenAI’s board regarding a potential restructuring of the company. A source familiar with the situation revealed that OpenAI is considering shifting to a for-profit structure while retaining a separate non-profit entity. The changes, though not yet finalized, have been a topic of internal discussion for nearly a year.
Despite Altman denying any direct connection, the company has seen a series of high-profile executive departures. On Wednesday, Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati announced her departure after six and a half years with the company. She was followed by Research Chief Bob McGrew and Vice President of Research Barret Zoph. Sam Altman, speaking at Italian Tech Week on Thursday, stated, “I think this will be hopefully a great transition for everyone involved and I hope OpenAI will be stronger for it.”
Leadership Changes Amidst Expansion and Funding Round
Sam Altman dismissed reports suggesting that the executive exits were tied to the potential restructuring. Instead, he emphasized that the changes reflect individual choices and a shift toward a new generation of leadership. Murati, in a memo to employees, explained that she was stepping away to focus on personal exploration while ensuring a “smooth transition” for the company.
OpenAI has been navigating rapid growth since the launch of ChatGPT in 2022, which has catapulted the company into the spotlight. Backed by Microsoft, OpenAI is currently seeking a new funding round that could value the company at over $150 billion, with significant investments anticipated from Thrive Capital and Tiger Global. However, this fast-paced expansion has raised concerns among some employees about the safety and sustainability of the company’s growth.
Altman himself was briefly ousted in November, only to be reinstated days later following a strong outcry from OpenAI employees, nearly all of whom signed an open letter supporting him.

August 1- Lotus Pond and Qishan Train Station
Today was a pretty easy day, Sabrina and I went down to breakfast. We both decided to try the hotel’s match latte, which was surprisingly really good. We met up with everybody and headed to the lotus pond. Sadly the dragon and tiger temple was under construction but it was still really cool to walk through, and I got some cool pictures in the area. Also sadly the Confucius Temple that we were supposed to visit was closed which I was looking forward to. Then we got all you can eat lunch which was delicious and very filling. We went to a train station that was pretty far away, but the bus ride was a great time to watch my current show and listen to music. Sabrina and I spent a pretty long time relaxing and then headed out for dinner, which we ended up eating at about 20:00 before walking back across the river and relaxing before bed.
Academic:
The 2022 report's mention of Taiwan highlights significant developments and ongoing challenges in the realm of religious freedom. The Legislative Yuan's enactment of a law allowing qualified religious groups to register real estate assets under the name of their religious foundation, rather than individuals, addresses long-standing conflicts related to property disputes and inheritance issues. This move exemplifies Taiwan's commitment to ensuring religious organizations operate within a clear legal framework, thereby reducing conflicts and promoting stability. However, the exclusion of domestic service workers and caretakers from the Labor Standards Law remains a critical issue, as it limits their ability to attend religious services. This exclusion predominantly affects foreign caregivers and household workers from Indonesia and the Philippines, hindering their religious practice. The Ministry of Labor and other authorities have taken steps to address this by expanding respite care services and educating employers on the importance of allowing these workers a weekly rest day. Despite these efforts, religious leaders continue to urge more significant action to ensure these workers' rights are fully respected.
Taiwan's Ambassador at Large for Religious Freedom's participation in international conferences underscores the nation's role as a model for religious tolerance and freedom. Taiwan's diverse religious landscape, where various beliefs coexist peacefully, is highlighted as a potential model for the Indo-Pacific region. However, the ambassador's statement that political motives within religious beliefs advocating for unification with China could threaten Taiwan's sovereignty reflects the complex interplay between religion and national security. Taiwan's approach to religious freedom demonstrates both progress and areas needing improvement. However, ongoing challenges such as the need for better protections for domestic workers and more flexible immigration policies for religious workers indicate that further efforts are necessary to fully realize the ideals of religious freedom.
