i feel like keith could absolutely terrify normal/rational people (hunk, lance) by coming up with the weirdest most complicated way to fix the most simple problem. shiro is very used to it so he isn’t scared anymore
i think keith and pidge are two sides of the same raccoon-macgyver-packrat coin, but whereas pidge is a #WomenInSTEM👩‍🔬, keith is an unhinged liberal arts major

Sometimes I forget I have a sociology degree and then I have a subject like this one, where I'm debating (in favor of) the importance of cultural competency in health care, and then I'm like oh yeah. I'm actually semi-qualified to speak on this subject.

Guess who noticed a really interesting tiny detail again?
Beloved mutual torterrachampion recently pointed out to me that the special thanks page in each vnc volume always has a nice crisp lineart version of the frame from its cover, and there's some really interesting details hidden in there. A bunch of the thanks pages even show extra details that aren't there on the actual color covers themselves!
In particular, volume 2's frame has this whole bottom bones/flowers arrangement that's totally left out/hidden on the actual cover:
Tumblr media
And right off the bat, there's a couple things about that bottom arrangement that really catch my eye.
First of all, the position of the hands there strikes me as pretty important, since uh
Tumblr media Tumblr media
reaching out and down toward Vanitas is a pretty major recurring image for Noé. It makes a lot of cool symbolic sense that this shape of reaching hand would show up in his frame, since it seems to be so important to his story.
Even more interesting than that, though, is what's going on with the left eye of that bottum skull. It looks like the skull's been partially shattered there around the eye, and while Mochijun does generally seem to enjoy a bit of cracked bone imagery, this one stands out to me because:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something happened to Noé's eye when he was a kid, but he's never once acknowledged it, and we've never gotten a single hint at what it was beyond it happening with the traffickers. And now the one skull featured on his cover's frame has a huge crack around its eye.
This doesn't actually give us any new information beyond just drawing yet more attention to the eye mystery, but. DAMN.
The rest of the imagery in this frame (the book and pen, the mourning lilies, the reaching hands) is all pretty central to who/what Noé is as a character. So while the cracked skull is/could be just a clever little nod to the existence of the eye mystery, its surroundings make me wonder just how relevant that injury is going to be.

day 20/366
started my first class as a senior today :)
took lots of notes with the responses of those asked what protocols or practices they follow in their current institute (yk as a baby intern) and then I was asked by my prof which research group I would like to jump in so it would be less difficult for me considering my placement for internship as well, but initially, of course, I said it would be unfair since they already completed chapters 1-3 without me
but then, my friend which I had helped from their chapter 1 wanted to adopt me and soooo instead of completing the last research proposal I've been working on, I will review on that research instead - proofread, make notes of and etc since there's a proposal defense on saturday with the university's research head
also had a wholesome chat with a convenience store manager. before we had a chat i felt frustrated at myself for not checking the operating times of the office i needed to visit and just went there but then it's closed every weekend so i hung out at the store for awhile (i also did not know my way home that time, HAHA) but yeah. i was touched by the conversation we had because we both helped each other in a sense that he's preparing financially for his kids' college funds (which he asks me abt tuition, etc + his kids are adorable 🥹 he showed me a photo of them) and he told me how he wants even just one of his kids to also pursue respiratory therapy because it seems like a great field, esp abroad + how he wants them to grow up like me ??? like, im a legit stranger, he doesn't know me but somehow i made that good of an impression, hahaha and he also reminded me that family is a blessing, daily necessities are always miraculously provided but tuition fees are not and that he said it was great i stumbled into their store, hahaha
it's a very long story BUT as a socially awkward introvert, it was a great talk :) also as i post this, i got home safely, probably just guided by God on the way back home because i legit had no idea where to go but then my feet just walked awhile until we reached the terminal for transport

Personally I think a good enough replica would be sufficient for archival when there's such considerations, but there are those who disagree and don't care about the implications. It's an ongoing "fight" in human society about how to proceed with that at the moment.
I agree that the replicas would be far more suitable for these facilities given the ethical and moral implications of essentially taking items from different people’s cultures only for them to be on display whilst disregarding the inherent value to the people it belongs to.
And of course when there is a school of thought that advocates for something like this, there will always be opposition. Perhaps I should conduct my studies elsewhere due to this issue.

So… when did pulling an all-nighter to get stuff (work, study, etc.) done became so appealing? Why is it appealing? Maybe because at night we are free from office, school and society’s pressure and can do things in our own time. Oh, well, I will be here all night everyone 🥰✨

I did it boys, three weeks of feverishly thinking about him at work, 12 stickynotes, and a few hours of digitalization and he's alive! (Goofy Ahh Sidekick-)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And some bonus info! Because I do believe with my whole heart that Leon would dress up in that goofy lil wizard costume for his entire school career and then realize it was hella impractical last second and completely rebrand himself.
In the School Era doodles he's about 15-18, and his Pro Hero doodles are ages 19-??? (Whenever he retires or dies ig???)
#light's spot#my art#oc#Spotlight#his stiry in convoluted by my favorite bits are:#1) He was in the support course and was really good at it but he took people by surprise by using his quirk no one knew about during the#Sports Festival and accidentally obliterated the people he went up against because they didn't expect him to have both support items *and*#useful quirk. after that people insisted he join the hero course and so he lowkey kinda dual-majored#2) His flashy look was great up until it gave him away. during his last Hero Work Study he was supposed to be helping in a hostage situatio#and he was supposed to stealth in but his earring caught on some light and gave away his position. The villain attacked him and tore out a#chunk of his neck along with skinning his lower jaw and tearing his ear. the pros were aboe to get the situation under control#but it left Light with a major scar and a lot to think about so he rebranded after he left school for everyone's safety.#3) The new design and nickname relate back to his family since they run a lighting business. He wanted to distance himself from his (mostly#unsupportive family roots but it was just the only design he really felt right with that he could come up with so he ran with it. now he#likes to keep his face covered and largely prefers for his Hero identity to be seperate from his own. That way his family isn't really#part of anything he does#oh and he definitely uses his lights in unique ways. he loves flash-banging his enemies when he can get close enough fast enough#mha oc#bnha oc#oh and in relation to my other mha ocs?#Dream Rush was already in her 3rd year of school when Shigaraki was making Nomu so she became a pro just before/after everything went to#hell. she was very helpful in interrogating villains for potential plans because they deployed her earlier than her classes ended#she knows Spotlight just barely because he interned at an agency she worked for for a while

L M A O having worked with a number of german lawyers, i know for a fact that qualifying to practice law in germany is a process that takes roughly 7 years at least and two separate rounds of state exams, no shortcuts.

Not to mention that in Australia at least the few professional humanities organisations that have access to these specialised job boards, training networks and mentoring want you to complete AT LEAST a Master's degree WITH HONOURS* before even letting you apply for membership with their group. And there's no way around it except for having previous work experience IN THAT INDUSTRY. But you know. Everyone wants writing and research skills and you'll find a job anywhere with an English/History/International Relations degree.
*in Australia, honours is an optional extra year of research after the 3 year bachelor's degree that is 1) only for people who get the highest grades** and 2) expensive.
**I got average- good grades and no honours because of medical impacts. Most international universities require honours, a fact that we were never told, and now I'm fucked.
as someone with a bachelor’s degree in english, i am inexpressibly tired of people telling me to get highly specific jobs that often require highly specific degrees. “just go write for a magazine!” you need a journalism degree for that. “just teach!” you need a teaching certificate, and also fuck you. “just go work at a tutoring place!” tutoring children with learning disabilities, which make up the majority of the clientele at those places, requires not only a teaching certificate but a specialized master’s degree. “just go work at a library!” you need a master’s degree in library science to be a librarian. it is actually a highly skilled and extremely competitive field. you don’t just “go work at a library,” you train for years in the vain hope that you will get one of handful of available jobs. “just go work at a library.” the nerve. the unmitigated gall. “just go work at a library.” ugh.
