Liking Gray Wing not in the "he's wise and did nothing wrong" kinda way but in a "characters who sabotage their interpersonal relationships and defend heinous actions for the sake of someone who doesn't care if they live or die are really interesting" kinda way

I feel like one of the things that gets missed a lot about Sonic and Amy's dynamic is that he isn't running because he's scared of Amy or hates her: Sonic runs because he loves running, and Amy chases because she loves Sonic and all he represents. She also clearly doesn't spend all her time chasing him: in Adventure 1 she's just lounging around in a city missing him and then he runs into her, in Heroes she's spending time with other friends of hers, etc.

Yes, she is more active in pursuing him than even other characters like Tails can be, and he can occasionally be overwhelmed by her pushy personality, but that doesn't equate to stalking or harassment. Sonic enjoys having her around- they're friends. To a certain extent, Sonic also clearly enjoys being chased by Amy.

Almost every moment that gets tossed around as her being abusive or terrible is some looney toons ass gag. Y'all can't seriously think she intended to kidnap and physically drag Sonic into a church to marry her just based off one awkward line in Heroes, can you? Regardless of whether you ship them or want them to be canon or not or find the jokes cringe or #problematic, their intended dynamic is not and has never been that of stalker and victim.

Also, another misconception about her is that people think her life revolves just around Sonic. Now, she was certainly created with him in mind (the creators wanted her to be a Minnie Mouse to Sonic's Mickey Mouse) but that's true of almost every character in the classic era. I'm not going to pretend CD presented a great dynamic between them, but starting as early as Adventure Amy had stories about standing up to Sonic, befriending other characters, actively redeeming multiple other characters/being one of the ones to help them, etc.

She's got multiple hobbies and friends outside of Sonic, she will stand up to him when she thinks he's doing something wrong: she has a life outside of Sonic.

Just because she wants her life to include him as well doesn't make her a one-note, lovesick fangirl stalker like she was so commonly seen as for so long!

Anyway. I just really love Amy Rose and also her dynamic with Sonic. It's been portrayed imperfectly at times, and there are definitely some moments where she was characterized horribly, but a) that's true of basically every major Sonic character and b) that doesn't wipe out all the good characterization and moments she's had over the years. She's always been a good character, and she's been growing and evolving over the years, just like a good character should. Her problem is mostly that she's been underutilized in games, and the solution to this is simply just to show more than one facet of her personality, not bashing that part of her or trying to take it away.

Kalina is the most interesting character to me because of all she has going on…

she is Cassandra’s familiar, she is simultaneously a pet and a friend and a servant and a family to a goddexx that is simultaneously her owner and friend and creator and parent and her god and reason to be—Kalina’s relationship to Cassandra is hard to put a name or label on (since what does being a familiar even mean?) but the bottomline is that this cat loves her deity enough to put everything and everyone on the line for her…

And adding in that she is a child of divorce. So to speak. I am extremely normal and haven’t been driven mad by the detail that baby itty bitty kitty Kalina was at Cassandra’s wedding to Ankarna and is remembered to have been toddling after her as she walked down the aisle…

Are you not keeping Silverstream's cameo from Firestar's SE in His BB!SE?

It's not that I don't appreciate the scene from canon, it's that it really doesn't fit BB. Spottedleaf is also getting her hauntings removed; I don't entirely appreciate the canon vibe where there's constant "fanservice" of these TPB favorites.

Like, it's nice that Silvs supports him, but in BB a lot of cats do. BB!Bluestar even says something on purpose knowing it's going to piss Firestar off and convince him to storm off, lmao. I don't think it's neccesary to have a bunch of angels chase after him to tell him that he's cool after that.

I'm more interested in giving that time to SkyClan itself, or Brokenstar and Firestar's dynamic and discussions, or even operational time in ThunderClan before they leave.

If anything I'd rather Silverstream advise Graystripe after Firestar leaves and the deputy, Longtail, gets blinded. Have Graystripe display that he can be a capable wiseman and leader, by following his heart. Have a few sparse but meaningful omens that Cinderpelt helps to interpret.

I'd almost buy Edel's "fuck your feelings. toughen up" speech towards Byleth to be about her motivating them to find a goal and put aside their grief if she also didn't say "promise to reach for my hand when I need to move forward uwu". And at the point, it becomes clear what this is ultimately about. Her disliking others' weakness especially when it hinders her.

I'd say,

This "tough up" method is oddly consistent with what we know of Supreme Leader and how she considers Billy.

FEH got a ton of flak for the 4 Koma, but Flamey tries to recruit people with "low sense of selves", which means, Flamey tried to recruit Billy because Flamey thought Billy had no sense of self, and was/felt so detached that they would be willing to be only used as a weapon.

This is what Supreme Leader tells them in Tru Piss, with the delicacy of a hammer, to her, Billy is someone "like her", someone who is detached from the others (when we know it's not true, and how much Billy craves for bonds and companionship and how they hate the detached self they present to the world and the fitting nickname "Ashen Demon").

So maybe Supreme Leader thought she got a good read on Billy : they are someone without any sense of self or goal, so to prop them up, she gives them a new goal : help and assist her.

It is a bit self-centered (but what can you expect from Adrestia's head??) but it sorts of work, and it also makes me wonder about Emile - apparently Supreme Leader was fully aware the Death Knight existed, but didn't give a fuck as long as she could use the DK to reach her goals, even if we know Emile doesn't like "being" the DK.

I think I started to see Emile under a sort of new light (even if it's stil subdued because kittens and ice cream) in Nopes, through his Catherine Support. Basically Emile (who defected) doesn't care about dying, and Catherine refuses to help him with his death wish. Emile is disappointed, because he thought Catherine could kill both him and the DK, and she's merciless for telling him to stop looking for death, but look for life instead.

But when Emile was the DK under Supreme Leader's command? He wanted to find powerful foes to fight with, until one of them died - far from making Emile realise he can still look for something else than death (thus giving him a reason to live), Flamey is content enough with having a powerful peon without any sense of self or preservation at her command.

And in a way, considering Tru Piss and how FEH depicts her, I'd say she had the same plans in store for Billy - but without any malice because I think Supreme Leader genuinely believes serving her IdEaLs is a good calling for anybody!
