Today is an important and dark date for any ukrainian. 10 years this day first russian armed forces units crossed the ukrainian border at the Kerch Bridge and the annexation of Crimea started.
In 4 days there would be another anniversary - 2 years since full-scale war with russia. I haven't posted a lot about war and in general here. Tumblr just doesn't feels right, I rarely go here to watch couple of aesthetic posts, but it does not make any sense now. And yet 10 years of war passed today. And I still see so much uneducated takes on this conflict. People around the world, left-leaning and radical left around the globe still think of this as a local proxy war of "american imperialism" and "russian anti-imperialism". You are right about america agenda, you may say the have geopolitical interests in this conflict and not just pure intentions or altruism. Thats not debatable. I would debate that so mane people don't even realise the level of atrocities committed by russians. Many still believe that images of Bucha are staged. Many still believe ukrainian forces destroyed Donbas in the last ten years. What a farce to read those takes for us, people of ukraine, for me personally, as I spent my first three days of russian invasion in the city of Kyiv, in my home (Bucha, Irpin and Hostomel are the suburbs of Kyiv).
This year ukrainian filmmakers compiled two important documentary films about those atrcities, committed by russians. One of them just earned two prizes on Berlin International Film Festival. And will run for Best Documentary nomination at this years Oscars.
Oscars mean nothing of course, its not a merit of truth. The merrit of truth are those films themselves. The documentary material they present. Award run is just an opportunity for more people outside of Ukraine to see those films. And I beg you to see it. I will tell about them in the next post. Its damn time for world to see this, for those blinded by russian propaganda especially. Photo by Evgeniy Maloletka. From the exhumation of mass graves in Kharkiv region. Dozens of civilian ukrainians killed by russian forces in 2022.

> Interceptions; through signs/houses <
interceptions are an overcharged, under-appreciated facet within a natives chart. its something you are acutely aware of and are usually extremely distasteful/uncomfortable of. Its something that was neglected in previous lifetimes so you are forced to fix it now...
1st/7th house or Aries/Libra - these people are very noticeable but in a uncomfortable way for themselves and others... they come off extremely strong (they are very imposing accidentally but also not in a good way) and they are always switching between being extremely self conscious of this or very idgaf. This creates a dynamic where they come off very wat da fuq > and are projected onto a lot and have a habit of projecting onto others a lot. 2nd/8th house or Taurus/Scorpio - These people are very insecure, but others are usually extremely unaware of this, which only accelerates the natives insecurity. To others they come off very valuable(2)/powerful(8) but usually they do not relate to this feeling within themselves at all. They however may overcompensate these feelings of inferiority by appearing stronger than they feel inside, and they are very good at convincing others this. Until it does inevitably crumble and everyone is shocked because their facade is relatively strong. 3rd/9th house or Gemini/Sagitarrius - These people are very talkative or the opposite; they are mindful of their answers and those of others, but because of their overthinking tendencies it makes them very fidgety and always need to have a great deal of input into the conversation. This makes others not sure if they smart, because they low key annoying to talk to (ya'll just sayin too much) but they dont appreciate their own cleverness because they mentioned every dot point in existence and this makes them feel stupid; don't know what a summary means or you made 5 summaries which defeats the purpose of one in the first place. 4th/10th house or cancer/capricorn - These guys had a rough childhood and you've never seen a more self protective person of their image. So they never reveal much and this statue-esque vibe they give off is very unesettling and many people talk about this lack of care they display because everyone knows ya'll just give a shit way too much. They avoid responsibility and emotional vulnerability often, and it creates conflicts within their personal life and that of their reputation. 5th/11th house or leo/aquarius - They doin a lot of vibin and not in a viby way. Its too much and they know it too and this creates conflict within their personality of not feeling like they shine in the way they wish they could, so they try even harder to shine the way they envisioned. But too others its the same song / dance we are so used to seeing this with them. This creates conflict in their presence within the community, and it can make them have a poor self image/ identity. 6th/12th house or virgo/pisces - they work a lot but they never satisfied with what they did, so they again work even harder. You can find these guys up at 4 am still tinkering their assignment/ project and even if theirs so many details implanted into it, its never enough and so they still doing more. They also neglect things that are necessary such as eating, or cleaning, because they are so focused on what they wanted to accomplish. This hurts their spirit because they never feel satisfied with what they have done with their life, despite working so damn hard.
> Im going to talk about double signs in my next post; and your double signs are what makes your interceptions far more bearable/ useful. But I want to encourage everyone to work on their interceptions, because it is a weakness, but it really can become a strength if you just put some practical work into it. < How to find interception? easy check yo house cusp; E.g. >
intercepted aries/libra in 12th/6th ;p > BEcause the Aries / Libra symbols is absent ^^^^ also after pisces and before taurus is 'Aries' which is swallowed up within the 12th house****** <That should make it obvious how to read now**** Oh and we always getting 2 gifs do not worry and these gifs *special* they encapsulate intercepted energy perfectly.... actually intercepted energy initself is encapsulation!!!

Saudi Arabia intercepted Houthi missile headed toward Israel — report
Saudi Arabia intercepted one of the cruise missiles fired toward Israel last week by Iran-backed Houthi rebels, The Wall Street Journal reveals.
The US was known to have shot down the other four missiles from its USS Carney guided missile cruiser but Saudi involvement in the missile defense actions had been unknown until now. Saudi Arabia’s Patriot Missile Defense array is supplied by the US.
The US has said the missiles were likely headed toward Israel.

2.5: Are you suggesting my askblogs intercept with eachother? (not possible by lore)

It was a late February, when I wrote this post. And now its May 1st.
In this February post I promised to tell about two ukranian documentaries, that shed a light on russian warcrimes. Since that, one of the docs, 20 days in Mariupol won the Oscar. Since than russia committed so much more. Yesterday they bombed Odessa, again, with ballistic missiles. The war is still going on. ________________________________________________________
20 days in Mariupol is a first documentary film of Pulitzer Prize-winning ukrainian journalist Mstyslav Chernov. Chernov have been a war photographer since the 2014 year, from the start of this war. He also documented Euromaidan protests. He was wounded couple of times during his work as war correspondent. In the last two years of full-scale war, I saw a lot of his potos, as I am involved in design process of Russian War Crimes exhibitions, that took place in Europe and USA. I saw this photos of dead civilians too many times. As a part of my job, I also designed (and curently also editing) a map of russian war crimes in Ukraine. By editing I mean constantly adding new places on the map (you can see the map on the site of the project).
I should mention, that I still cannot watch 20 days in Mariupol. I could not force myself to watch it in cinema, its too hard. I heard about Mariupol from my dear friend, who spent those 20 days there herself. I saw lots of video in the first month of invasion and they still terrifies me.
And its because of that horror, that I am trying to avoid - you should see it. You don't see films like that from russia, in which they would show you, how "Ukranian Nazis" destroyed Donetsk. Cause it never happened. After ten years of conflict, Donestk (which is the capital of one of the separatists quasi-state) is still there. Although russians claimed that we bombed it every day. And yet, it took them less then a month to turn Mariupol into ashes. And its been documented and even translated in real time, such is a nature of our media era. And yet the world missed it. But we should not forget it.
________________________________________________________
The second documentary is Intercepted. The film consist of telephone conversations intercepted in 2022 by the Ukrainian Secret Service between russian soldiers in trenches in Ukraine and their families. It may sound trivial in 2024, but this movie does let you see the most grounding example of 'banality of evil'. I mean, its almost trivial to hear famous Hannah Arendt's quote again and again, especially when you don't live in war-torn country. But Intercepted illustrates it just like it is - you hear wives, mothers, girlfriends of russian soldiers tell them, that it's okay to kill, to steal from dead civilians. Someones wife is okay with the fact, that her husband will rape ukrainian women. It does not count as cheating, even more - she supports it. Another wife asks her lover to take home some fine electronics, or kids clothes for their kid. From the destroyed house of ukrainian family, I mean, and she knows it. While you listen to this hellish dialogs - you can see pictures of destroyed ukrainian cities, burnt homes... but its the voices and words of everyday russian families that make this documentary so bone-chilling. Its inhumane in a very literal sense - they just don't see ukrainians as people.
(I could not find where you can see Intercepted right now, but I will edit this and provide links later.) "20 days in Mariupol" 2023/"Intercepted" 2024

Which Ukrainian Documentary to see at Hot Docs 2024
It’s past the halfway mark of Hot Docs 2024 and I’m doing my best to see what I can. As of today (yesterday? What time is it?? lol) I have seen all of the Ukrainian titles and have found Intercepted to be most impactful of the trio.
All three films address civilian life and the impacts of the Russian invasion, with Porcelain War garnering recognition at Sundance. But where Nice Ladies and Porcelain War come from seemingly gentler angles of sport and art, Intercepted makes no bones that it’s here to expose truths and propaganda fed to the Russian soldiers and families at the frontlines of the invasion.
Porcelain War has no remaining screenings, the 2nd screening of Intercepted is today at 2:15pm at the Hot Docs Cinema, and Nice Ladies screens again on May 4th. As such I won't delve too deep into the former, other than to say for a film that begins with art, it supplies images of the fatalities of war and other very in-depth insights into battle. It's the only one of the three films where I did not get to listen to the Q&A so maybe that's what's affecting my opinion of the film because of the three, it's the one I preferred the least.
Nice Ladies began as a very different project, about bodies, aging, and perception, which I think would have been very interesting. It's a window into not only wartime but how it affects people, their families, friendships, and relationships. It's also an eye-opening glimpse into the interactions of this group of ladies and their hardened personalities that are a direct result of having lived in times of occupation.
Intercepted pairs imagery of the Ukraine during invasion (the imagery is not graphic for those who are concerned, largely bombed out buildings, deserted homes, and village roads) with audio clips of intercepted phone conversations between Russian soldiers and their families via cell phone calls. I was struck by the different layers of these conversations, the different and similar beliefs and attitudes, alongside aspects of envy, hatred, and indifference. There are many angles to consider, a single conversation may include racial slurs and a desire to exterminate the Ukrainians, but also an envy towards their westernized way of life, to laments of their own governments and benefits of western goods. It's a sad and alarming realization the harm caused by misinformation in a closed society, to see people brainwashed into believing evils that do not exist.
My biggest takeaways from these two films' Q&As come directly from each filmmaker. Mariia Ponomarova of Nice Ladies mentions how every generation of Ukrainians have experienced either occupation or invasion. Intercepted director Oksana Karpovych's intention was to highlight the imperialist invasions through the decades by Russia, she did so by using conversations that made reference to Chechnya, etc.
Here ends my official write up on these films, for those interested in a personal note:
Aside from my support for the people of Ukraine, and the fact that I was lackadaisical and missed on the opportunity to see many of the films about Ukraine at Hot Docs 2023... as a Russian/Ukrainian language learner I have few opportunities to see films in these languages and so this was an excellent and important opportunity for me. I don't know how much this helped me to discern between the two languages. Certainly I was able to pick out some differences in Porcelain War and Nice Ladies, but Intercepted was meant to showcase the different Russian accents to show the diversity of the source material. Here is where I came to the sad realization that all these different accents (almost dialects if you will) are just another showcase of the different groups still under Russian control. The Ukrainians have found independence and so their language has its own name, how many different peoples across 11 time zones are forced to be grouped as one?
