Why Fit In When You Were Born to Stand Out? A Guide to Self-Discovery
"Why Fit In When You Were Born To Stand Out" is a powerful affirmation of individuality that encourages people to embrace their unique qualities rather than conforming to societal norms. This phrase recognizes that each person possesses distinct traits, talents, and perspectives that make them special and valuable.

Buy now:19.95$
The statement challenges the often deeply ingrained desire to blend in and avoid drawing attention. Instead, it suggests that our differences are not flaws to be hidden, but strengths to be celebrated and shared with the world. Standing out can drive innovation, creativity, and positive change in society.
This philosophy applies to various aspects of life. It might mean pursuing unconventional dreams, expressing oneself through unique style choices, or simply being true to one's beliefs and values, even when they differ from the majority. It encourages individuals to recognize their inherent worth and to contribute their unique perspectives to the world.

However, it's important to note that standing out doesn't necessarily mean being loud or attention-seeking. It can be as subtle as quietly pursuing one's passions or gently advocating for one's principles.
Ultimately, this motto inspires self-confidence, authenticity, and the courage to live life on one's own terms. It reminds us that diversity in thought, appearance, and approach enriches our collective experience and that each person has something valuable to offer by being themselves.

Autism Spectrum Awareness Month, observed annually in April, is dedicated to increasing understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This month-long observance aims to educate the public about the challenges faced by individuals with autism and their families, while also celebrating their unique strengths and contributions.
Various organizations and communities organize events, campaigns, and activities to promote autism awareness. These may include educational seminars, fundraisers, social media campaigns, and support group meetings. The month also focuses on advocating for inclusive policies, improved support services, and research funding.

Many people show support by wearing blue, displaying blue lights, or sharing personal stories. The ultimate goal is to foster a more inclusive society that embraces neurodiversity and supports individuals on the autism spectrum throughout their lives.

Hear me out, I’m over analyzing Jays Lore again.
Libber and Cliff’s relationship reminds me so much of Loretta Young and Clarke Gable.
Loretta and Gable were well-known actors in the 30s, and at the time that Loretta got pregnant, were working on a romance film in 1935. She hid the pregnancy because it would cause too much drama within Hollywood at the time, and she saw no other option. Judy Lewis (the daughter) was born late in that year, and was given up to orphanages for the first few years of her life before Loretta adopted her, later privately disclosing that she was her mom.
TELL ME THATS NOT FUCKING CLIFF AND LIBBER AND JAY.
Libber and Cliff had Jay, but Libber ended up giving him away to Ed and Edna because of Cliff’s absence, and because she just couldn’t take care of him on her own. Cliff the chronic womanizer can’t keep a stable family dynamic, clearly.
This was essentially the same case with Loretta and Gable, since he was married at the time, and their daughter was not conceived consensually. He was not present in Judy’s life except for one time, where he went to visit Loretta and ask how Judy was. Judy had no idea Gable was her father then.
Cliff didn’t keep contact with Jay at all, but as seen in Skybound, he did keep up with his life, collecting like photos of him and his zx suit I think (don’t quote me on the suit thing I haven’t watched skybound in a bit).
Gable and Cliff both consciously chose to keep up with their children without ever telling them that they were their father.
Also, totally not proving my point but I do think it’s fun that the initials match too. J and J, CG and CG, L and L.
Idk!!! I just, I’m nerding out about history shit and Lego shit all at once it’s autism extravaganza over here. I know it’s not what inspired it but it just reminds me so so much of it.

luckiest sensory overload of my life. Sharks
was at dinner (on vacation so it was the kind with live entertainment and junk) but got really overstimulated. Like, physical reaction overstimulated, i felt like my entire body was trying to vacuum seal itself in a bag. idk what was going on but i was getting really frustrated and nearly blew up on my dad (he’d been bugging me) so i dragged my parents off to the room since i was literally going to explode.
So we’re in one of those over-water bungalows, right? and there’s usually a lot of fish, we’ve seen a few rays and these silly noodle looking fish, but my moms puttering around and she sees
a shark.
just a little guy, maybe 3 feet long, one of those blacktips. but a flipping SHARK. BELOW OUR ROOM. and we saw it because my autism beast got upset.
you gotta understand that mom and i were chatting on the walk back and i was on the verge of tears, so we were talking on the back deck watching the water a while later and i started crying. like, sad/scared/terrified of the future crying, but another shark swam near us and i started happy crying because i live on the same planet as that and i’m alive to see it sharking around.
i don’t wanna sound like. mainstream media inspirational quotes but. it’s so easy to forget just how fucking amazing it is that we share a world with sharks. can you believe that

I Ran Home That Day ♾️
I ran home that day
Sprinted so quickly down the road to finally have an answer
To know why I cause so many problems and why I’m the epitome of, “weird”
A warm day in the middle of May, it was
And my mom stood on the porch, waiting for me
I was grinning, I still don’t know why
I was excited as if I were about to be given a gift or a new toy to play with
My mom’s words came out calmly, a little apprehensively, though
Like she didn’t want to say them out loud
But she did
“Morgan, you have Asperger’s, with the ADHD.”
She couldn’t say, “autism”
Because that word
Was big
And heavy
It had so many connotations
But I was eleven years old
I didn’t know any better
We went inside and I put my backpack away
And cried
Somewhere between relief and fear
What did that mean for me now? For the future? What now, what now?
Relief shined through, though
I had been carrying fear within me that there wasn’t anything diagnosable
My worst fear, that I was just a bad kid
But I wasn’t
I was put into a world that wasn’t made for me
And I dealt with it the best way I could; through tics and fidgets and never shutting up and loving things intently
And I cried
My mom hadn’t hugged me that tight in my entire life
I had to get my sister off the bus
She was the first person I told
She didn’t know what it meant, but ass-burgers was funny to her
She didn’t know any better, either
That night, I had a choir concert for my school
I wore my chorus shirt with black sweatpants
Because I couldn’t stand denim
I stood in the warm-up room off to the side by myself
Knowing something that no one else did
Could they see it now? Did they know before I did?
A few girls from my class came up to me
“Why are you wearing sweatpants?”
But my face had to have shown something— worry, embarrassment, confusion, something— because the girls changed course
“It’s okay, you’re lucky. I wish my mom let me wear sweatpants all the time.”
They didn’t know the battle that went on about that at home; and with brushing my teeth; with showering; with learning how to shave; with talking too much; with not talking at all when stressed; with, with, with
But I wasn’t going to tell them
Less I need another thing to stick a target to my back: Morgan has family issues and is autistic, too
I don’t remember the singing part of the chorus concert
Though, I do remember the song, “Three Quotes” inspired by the works of Mark Twain
One part of the song had all of us kids yell on stage: “Rude, rambunctious crescendo” is what I remember the choir teacher telling us in the rehearsal days we had prior
The days where I sang loud to not think, “What if I’m a bad kid, what if I’m a bad kid? What then, what then?”
And blared music until my ears rang to not think, “What happens then? What will I do if I’m just a bad kid?”
During the crescendo, I went mute
The ringing in my ears and the thoughts in my head were so loud that I believed I was saying them out loud
So loud in my head
I’m autistic, I am on the spectrum, I don’t know what that means
I wanted to go home
Sit in the dark
But I had more songs to smile and dance and off-key sing to
When it was over, I ran to my mom
And hugged her tight
A friend of mine came up to me
Smiling, happy to see me, wanting to tell me I did a good job, even when I really didn’t
She was the second person I told
I don’t know why I brought it up
She had been my friend since the first grade
So I trusted her
“I’m autistic.”
“Oh.”
Oh
That’s all she said
Social deficit, I’d made a social misstep
But we pushed on
She hugged me and took a picture with me thanks to both our mom’s insistence
I still have that picture now
Tired eyes, my crooked smile
A forced, crooked smile
But a smile nonetheless
I went home and my mom told me to be comfortable
To relax
I went right to my room, mind racing, to my computer to research
And research
And research
And research some more
My eyes were going wonky
So tired
But I had to know and had to educate myself and had to learn what such a heavy word meant
I went to sleep late that night
Definitely not relaxed
And faced the morning
And faced the day
I pulled my favorite teacher aside and told her
“I have Asperger’s.”
“I have nephews with it. Don’t worry, you’re still a smart girl.”
She hugged me, too
I never said I wasn’t smart
One student overheard
And told another
Then another
Then another
And it spread like a wildfire
People knew when I didn’t want them to
I was questioned
If I was bullied for just showing autistic traits, then what do you think happened when people learned that they were right?
Called the r-word in the hallway
Picked last in gym class
Avoided like the plague
Avoided like the plague
How was I supposed to be proud
Of something that made things worse for a long, long time?
I denied all accusations
“I’m not autistic. What are you talking about?”
And went on with my life
I told my best friend
“I’m autistic.”
“That’s okay, your mind is just a little funky. But everyone’s mind is their own kind of funky.”
She was kind to me
She was kind to me
I entered high school and met more kids with it
Kids who could say that they were autistic
Proudly
Incredible
I watched them
And wanted to be proud
It got written on my student record
My new choir teacher embraced it fully
She was kind to me
I ran to her class every day
And got picked on for being a kiss-ass
But I slowly didn’t care
There are people who can be kind
The teasing and bullying and cruelty won’t matter in the long run
Though its wounds still stay with me
I stuck with kind people
I ran to them
Ran down to hall to see my friends
Who were all weird and queer and different
But I loved them all
They kept me safe
Kind people kept me safe
I ran to them
Held them close to me
Grew up beside the other weirdos
And didn’t feel alone
Didn’t feel heavy
Wasn’t avoided
Found peace in people like me
Told more people
Found pride
Found pride for the first time
And ran toward better days where I grew up and allowed myself to rest
To take it easy
To find people like me and to love them
To love them
To love me
And to love big, heavy words
And to fly free
And run towards light

[ID: A transparent background with the rainbow autism acceptance infinity symbol, the sprites of Rindo Kanade and Nagi Usui face each other with a red decagram with a yellow "vs" between them.]
Round 2 Match 8: Rindo Kanade VS Nagi Usui
What gives these two Autism Swag?
Rindo Kanade:
Struggles with in-person interactions over text conversations.
Anxious and indecisive, prefers being told what to do and is resistant to change to the point where he rationalizes the Reaper's Game and ignores the weird elements of it for as long as he can.
Stares at his phone a lot, which could be a strategy for avoiding eye contact or preventing overstimulation in an overwhelming environment.
Was completely fooled by an0ther's "Facebook mom group"-caliber inspirational quotes and lives by them like a script.
Nagi Usui:
Has a Special Interest in Elegant Strategy. Her backpack is covered in EleStra merch, including pins and plushies, and she was literally willing to infiltrate someone's mind as payback for her being unable to get a rare EleStra pin. Even when she thinks she's dead and in a death game, her primary concern is with the newest chapter of EleStra and avoiding spoilers, and reading it is one of her biggest motivations for winning.
Is hyper-empathetic, which manifests in her Dive ability. She is very uncomfortable doing this, and always apologizes in advance for the breach of privacy.
Can tell when people are being fake and is severely put off by it.
Speaks in an overly-formal way, has a large vocabulary, and calls people "Lord" or "Lady" before their name as a sign of respect. She also frequently makes incomprehensible blubbering noises.
Likes eating a whole grilled alligator, which everyone else hates.
"I am simply aware of the importance of communication. And I take great pains to ensure my interactions with others remain as peaceful as possible. Asking questions. Gauging responses. Reacting aptly. I leverage every element at my disposal—actions, words, emojis, anything at all—to ensure everyone feels welcome."

Inspired by one of the ppl i follow who has the same position, i am seeking advice from people knowledgeable in this: I have tons of symptoms of autism and find most experiences of autistic ppl extremely relatable. I live in a place where mental health is quite taboo, let alone getting a diagnosis of something "being wrong with you".
A funny story(kill me) i have is when my mom told me like a year ago, and I quote: "When you were 3 a doctor told us you probably have autism(what), and it would start showing in a few years. When you behaved really asocially in school we were worried(didn't do anything tho) but now you talk to people and have a few friends so we dodged that bullet(hdjshdhdhd)"
I didn't have the heart to explain that that is not how any of it works, and tell her that she and dad made a major parenting fuckup, but I still live with the consequences today.
Anyways, is there any reason to seek a diagnosis now, especially considering the fact that any involvement with mental health professionals caries massive stigma with it?

...Penders had LGBT stuff in his stories? Like, other than Rotor and Cobar? Is this in Lara-Su alongside his creepy insistence on age of consent on Echyd'nya world?
His exact quote at the top of his thread announcing that one of the supporting characters in The Lara-Su Chronicles will be on the autism spectrum is:
With Knuckles, I provided kids from broken homes someone they could identify with. I wanted gay reader to know they were thought of, thus the Emissary Rotor-Cobar relationship. But there has been one set of Sonic fans I've been struggling to do the same for: autistic fandom.
Now Ken has said before that he got letters from fans back in the day saying how much it meant to them to see Knuckles grow up with divorced parents, and I personally don't doubt him. Everyone responds to things differently, and it can be reassuring to see a fictional character deal with the same problems as you, especially as a kid
But like... I'm someone whose parents got divorced when I was a teen, and I sure as fuck didn't feel seen by Knuckles' family, because uh... Ken just kept bending over backwards to justify Locke's downright sociopathic actions, while the mom got sidelined. And as a bisexual person I definitely don't feel seen by old Rotor and Cobar, two interchangeable plot exposition characters who at no point actually express any noteworthy affection for each other. So uh, yeah, can't say the past examples Ken has provided of positive representation in his work are inspiring much confidence in his ability to write Espio's daughter as autistic (you know, if these comics ever see the light of day)
He's touched on plenty of topics in his work in an attempt to make it look more prestigious, and he never does any of them justice. Fascism, racism, sexism, drugs, electoral politics, religion, gun violence. They're just window dressing for his hacky sci-fi plots. This is just the latest example of that

Fatgum As a Dad
This was inspired by a conversation I had on a discord server, we all have daddy issues and want Fatgum to adopt us so here’s all the shit we collected.
There are some serious themes in here, mostly regarding the biological parents of the kid, but it’s vague as possible. If anyone wants me to add a trigger warning please let me know.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It all started when he was a kid, when he learned what an orphanage was. One of the kids in his class mentioned being from one, so when he got home he asked his parents about it.
“Mom, what’s an orphanage?”
“Well, Taishiro, it’s where children that don’t have parents go. Then people can come and adopt the children. Why do you ask.”
“A kid at school said he’s from one, when d’you think he’s gonna get adopted?”
“He might, not all children get adopted. Some of them stay in the orphanage until they’re adults.”
“BUT THAT’S NOT FAIR!” he shouted. “EVERYONE DESERVES A HAPPY CHILDHOOD!”
“Well, honey, life’s not fair. And not everyone gets a happy life. It’s how most villains are made, actually. They were hurt more than everyone else and couldn’t handle it anymore. Not all villains are like that but many are. I think you should stay away from that kid, Taishiro. He might turn out a villain.”
But he didn’t stay away. And he made it his mission to become a pro hero so he could make a ton of money and help as many people as he could. He’d help even villains, keep them from doing something dangerous and inspire hope in them.
Then, he’d adopt any kid who needed a father. All the orphanages and foster programs would be empty. Homeless children off the street and in his house, being fed and clothed. He’d care for each and every one of them, not wanting a single person to feel like they didn’t belong.
He finds most of his kids at pride parades. He walks around with a shirt that says ‘FREE DAD HUGS’ and a box full of candy. He remembered one of the kids walking up to him slowly.
“Um.. are you Fatgum?”
“Yes I am!”
“Can I have a hug?”
“Yes you can, Kiddo!” he got down, and the kid put his arms on his stomach (Fatgum’s too big for anyone to fully hug, the dude’s taller than Allmight!) he wrapped his arms around the kid before he heard sniffles. He looked down and saw that the kid was crying.
“M-my parents never hug me like this!” they exclaimed. “They haven’t since I came out. They want to kick me out when I turn thirteen!”
“Can I have their number? I’m going to... talk to them.”
He ended up taking the kid’s family to court, and since the parents were going to just kick the kid out anyways, they let Fatgum adopt them, but they kept nagging him about how he was ‘going to be raising a little demon.’
“Then call me Lucifer.” he spat right back. Now, that kid’s grown up, has pride flags all around their walls, and doesn’t ever doubt that they’re loved.
Fatgum probably bakes with his kids. Helping them up onto the counter to mix ingredients and play with the dough. If they mess something up or break a glass, it’s fine. He doesn’t yell at them or sigh and shake his head, he just kissed the kid on the forehead and helps them clean up the mess.
The food always turns out amazing, and Fatgum always tells the kids that. All of his kids are now Gordon Ramsay level chefs and have probably met Gordon Ramsay.
Tumblr media
No matter what their body type is, Fatgum tells his kids their handsome/beautiful and are model worthy. If anyone comments of one of his kid’s body, whether it be negative or... ‘positive’ in a creepy way, you can expect that they’re getting slammed into the ground. No questions asked.
One of Fatgum’s kids is really good at make-up. Like, really good. So Fatgum did the only thing a rational father would do.
Ask for a make-up job.
It didn’t end all that well...
“Hold still.. I gotta get the eyeliner on.”
“Gosh, Kiddo it’s making my eyes water.”
“I know, just hold still... aaaand...... done! Now don’t touch it or it’ll smear!”
“Wow, that looks great! You’re really good at this!”
“Thanks, dad- you smeared it already didn’t you?”
“....Nope.”
Fatgum: I'm not gonna do it, it just seemed like a good option.
Fatgum not even two seconds later after seeing a trans kid crying: now carrying said child on his shoulders while his spouse is chuckling in a corner after signing adoption papers I did it.
This man would get his kids almost anything they wanted. Especially kids with ADD/ADHD/Autism/Tourettes/Anxiety who need stim toys.
Kid: chewing on their nails.
Fatgum: here take this stim toy, and this one, you chew this one so that might help-
Kid ends up with more stim toys than they can count.
Fatgum: just doing his job
The Daddy Issues Gang: Hi dad- oh shit wait- Hi- I- fuck- trauma ensues. crying
Fatgum: grabs the daddy issues gang we're going to the nearest courtroom say hello to your new father its me im the father ok lets go.
Kid: um, dad can I talk to you?
 Fatgum, turning around quickly: yes?
Me: ‘he moved so quick, he's mad at me, I'm gonna get yelled at’ Sorry, sorry!
Fatgum: uh, no. I'm getting you ice cream and a new stuffed animal no questions asked
He'd just know when something's wrong, and he’d be great at comforting.
His usual style of comfort is to let the kid sit on his stomach and tell him what’s wrong. His body is one giant pillow for his kids to lay on, he can fit at least eight of them if they cuddle in closely.
Once filmed a commercial dressed as the Cool-Aid man, and all of his kids were in the commercial.
Fatgum: Busts down wall  “OH YEAH!”
Director: “And CUT! Okay, try a little more aggressive-”
Fatgum, in tears: “I don’t wanna scare my kids.”
As stated before, if anyone makes his kids feel bad he’s punching them to the ground, but sometimes he’s not in a position where he can do that. Like if a Karen mom ever comes over.
"Linda stop bringing lemon squares if you're going to talk about my son that way because they're just as sour as your attitude."
Fatgum but he slaps the toxic members of your family and tells them to do better or he's taking you.
Then takes you anyway because you prefer him.
Fatgum with a sweater that says ‘mr dad guy on it’
Fatgum definitely watches ATLA, and quotes Uncle Iroh daily. When his kids are minding their own business they suddenly hear
“Leaves from the vine... falling so slow...”
INAUDIBLE CHAOS AND PANIC
Fatgum agency cosplayed ATLA characters on Halloween.
Fatgum was Iroh.
Kirishima was Sokka.
Tamaki was either Momo or Appa.
Maybe get a couple others in on it too, Mirio could be Aang and if Kirishima convinces Todoroki to join for a while he’d totally be Zuko.
Fatgum lets his kids squish his face.
Fatgum used to work with a hero who was hard of hearing, so he learned sign language to help them, and he’s got the skill saved in case one of his kids might be deaf.
So one day, Kirishima invites Bakugou on patrol with him, and we all love that headcanon of Bakugou going deaf, so when he gets pissed at something, he starts insulting everyone around him in SL.
Fatgum notices and starts signing back to him.
YOU’RE ALL MOTHERFUCKERS AND I HATE YOU ALL!
Hey, now, let’s calm down and not call everyone motherfuckers.
FUCK YOU TOO
Bakugou...
Everyone thinks that they’re doing magic, because they’re making all these shapes with their hands and keep looking offended at each other.
Now, Fatgum tries his gosh darn hardest to keep up with the memes, so when his kids come home with good grades, he says That’s so pog, Kiddo!”
All of his kids are embarrassed.
In the middle of a battle, he throws Kirishima at a villain and they both scream “YEET!” the villain afterwords forever lives in fear of the word ‘yeet’ because he thinks it’ll result in a human rock being thrown at his face.
Fatgum can’t text very well, because his fingers are just too damn big-
sonhsisntextsblooklikehthis'
Translation: so his texts look like this
you learn to understand his texts
Someone better get him a large tablet instead of a phone
If he gets married after he adopts the kids, there’s going to be a huge competition over who does the rings and who does the flowers etc.
If any of his kid’s ever bring home a romantic partner, you can bet your ass he’ll be all over them.
“What’s your average grade?”
“E-eighty percent sir!”
“And do you take sports?”
“No sir, I wish to be a biologist.”
“I see, I see...”
“DAD, YOU AREN”T INTERVIEWING MY PARTNER, ARE YOU? YOU SCARED OFF THE LAST THREE I DON’T WANNA DEAL WITH THAT AGAIN!”
“SORRY, KIDDO! I’LL LET THEM GO NOW! I’ve got my fucking eyes on you. Don’t screw this up.”
Hope y’all enjoy this, if y’all want I can write some headcanons for if Fatgum’s kid becomes a villain-

My school did Curious Incident while I was in middle school and I didn’t see it but I remember some aspects of the plot and it does seem like the kind of story featuring neurodivergent characters made for neurotypical people to eat up, like Forrest Gump.
I've now been informed that the person playing the autistic character is not autistic, which I suspected, but our theatre program (and whole school, probably) is big enough that they could have found someone. Now the theatre department instagram page is posting quotes from the actors saying they find the story inspiring. The phrase 'inspiration p*rn' comes to mind. I really hope this doesn't have detrimental effects, especially since the group coming in to speak after the show doesn't even have any autistic staff or board members. There are so many other resources available that involve actual autistic people telling their stories instead of autism moms parading as heroes for taking care of their kids or greedy businessmen only looking for some way to claim they did something good. Looking at their website again. I'm really bad at comprehending things, but I think I'm picking up on some eugenics.
