A wood veneer marquetry picture made for @sraksha from one of her drawings. (This picture is mirrored because I'm dumb and glued it with the wrong side facing up)
Cut with the Acmer P2 33W diode laser out of multiple different 0.6mm thick wood veneers. Most of the species used were in their natural state, but this also includes some through dyed and heat treated woods. (Red dyed birch and smoked oak for example)
Simplified process:
- Draw a new or turn an existing picture into a vector file
- Separate the picture into individual "puzzle" pieces, in the example below this was done in Lightburn.
- Different pieces are cut from the chosen woods with the laser, compensating the cut path settings if needed because even the color of wood changes how well it will be cut.
- The pieces are assembled and taped together into a sheet, which is then then glued on to a board (hopefully the right way around), in this case birch plywood.
- Glued piece is carefully sanded and finish applied.

I entered this little planter into a juried show, fingers crossed it's accepted, but my escapism art may be a bit too whimsical for the serious gallery art world 😅 wouldn't hurt my feelings if it didn't, it just helped me get out of my head for awhile.
I'm not sure if this still counts as inlay because of the way I finished it, but it was drawn by carving channels for the glazes to keep the likework tight. I have just been using stroke and coat lately because it's dependable and fun to use.
Want to play more with illustrations on pots, but I have had the worst art block. May try to do some cheap digital commissions or requests to get my gears unstuck.

I've never really had nice clothes before. Never had a good paying job to afford them/ not known what I like/ looks good on me.
I finally found the kind of coat I've been looking for. It was heavily discounted and the only one they had left was in my size. It's so warm and not too heavy thankfully.
It will be nice to have a warm coat that compliments cute skirts and dresses when it's cold out

I made this sunflower spoon rest! It’s inlaid with natural turquoise that my partner and I meticulously sorted by hand. Terrible decision, really.
I just wanted to share it because I’m pretty proud of it. My partner wants a sunflower themed kitchen, so that’s what we’re doing! I made this to fit the theme, the sunflowers are all in different styles, so it didn’t really matter that mine was in my own.

Inlay Depicting the Face of a King
Egyptian, Ptolemaic Period (332–30 BCE)
Figures of the king or the gods made of pieces of brightly colored glass appeared about 1350 B.C. and continued to be made into the Ptolemaic period. The color follows the tradition in Egyptian art of depicting the skin of men as red.
