Louis' boxscores are out and wow, was I spot on!

In my last post I claimed that he hadn't actually grown his audience from his last tour, as his fans claimed, and that he repeated the same numbers instead.

This is what I said about Argentina:

Louis in Argentina had sold 25,957 tickets in 2023 "while Harry was touring. (Harry sold 123,942 tickets in the same country)." If he even repeated his 25,000 crowd I'd be shocked. But he definitely didn't grow this audience. It was as small as before, at best.

Bahahahha. This is what I said about Brazil:

Harry had three shows in Allianz Parque which had a combined attendance of 137,009. Each show roughly 45/46K. That is a third of that stadium. And Louis did not sell out, there were tickets available in all sections right up until the moment the show started. Louis had one show. You can see the empty seats in multiple videos on Twitter. Meaning, Louis' attendance was at best 15K. That is, once again, the same exact audience he had for his previous tour.

The 70,000 number came from a fan and people just ran with it, particularly multiple Spanish speaking blogs who aren't very reputable. The actual attendance was 32,000. I know there's a source for this but I didn't save it, it was an official Mexican news outlet who spoke with the organizers.

Genuinely shocked at my own ability to guesstimate audiences at a glance, but ANYWAY.

His fans are obviously claiming these numbers are fake, or they're just "platinum tickets" ????

Touring Data posts box scores they obtain from Pollstar, which audits concerts and gets information straight from the source. Either the artist's team or the venue. The numbers are 100% official. This is what he sold.

If they hadn't been hellbent on surpassing or matching Harry, and centering this man's life and career around his former (much more famous, much more talented) bandmate, then they'd realize that the fact that he has those audiences is a miracle that should be celebrated.

A person who cannot sing, play instruments, or compose music, refuses to dress up or make any sort of effort, doesn't learn his own lyrics, and has the charisma of a cardboard box, selling 32,000 tickets for a show is ridiculous enough.

The percentages are off, of course, because that's the percentage of tickets sold THAT HE PUT OUT ON SALE. Not actual capacity. In actuality, those places are much, much bigger, he just reduced capacity by a bunch and put only parts of the venues on sale, and even then he could only fully sell out ONE show.

Let's look at actual venue capacity of his biggest shows, not going by Wikipedia numbers, because often those numbers are maximum-maximum and to actually achieve that you have to not have a stage or a catwalk or a sound box. I'm going to compare to other concerts in the same venue, where possible!

Mexico City, Mexico - Autódromo Hermanos Rodriguez

This one is actually quite hard to find info of. It's a venue used mainly for festivals, such as Arre, Electric Daisy, Vive Latino, etc. I cannot find single concerts here. And it makes sense because Louis' wasn't a single concert, but that vanity project of his that is his "Away From Home" festival. Where it's him as the main act and two or three more random white boy bands, who are often far better than him.

Anyway, attendance to this ground goes from 70,000 to 110,000, so the idea that his 31,562 sold out 97% of tickets is absurd. It's more along the lines of 30% of capacity.

Buenos Aires, Argentina - Estadio Vélez Sarsfield

This one is easy, as I've said before, One Direction performed there in 2014. I presume he chose it as some sort of ego trip?

One Direction sold out two shows at 80,622 making attendance for each 40,311.

To be fair, let's look up other shows! Karol G did two shows in 2024, her attendance for both was 82,818, meaning 41,409 for each.

Bad Bunny did two shows in 2022, his attendance for both was 85,345, meaning 42,672 for each.

So how on earth would 20,318, what Louis sold, represent almost 73%? If we take capacity of this stadium to be 41,000 then he sold less than 50% of the total amount of tickets....

São Paulo, Brazil - Allianz parque

Harry did three shows in this stadium, totalling 137,009 tickets sold, meaning 45,669 per show.

BTS had two shows in this stadium in 2019, totalling 84,728 tickets sold, meaning 42,364 per show.

Ed Sheeran had two shows in this stadium in 2019, totalling 81,156 tickets sold, meaning 40,578 per show.

Paul McCartney had two shows in this stadium in 2019, totalling 90,384 tickets sold, meaning 45,192.

Let's average it and we get about 43,500 for capacity. So how much of that did Louis' 16,406 represent? Was it almost 78%?

No, more along the lines of 37.7%.

I'm entirely too lazy to look up the others, and most of them are rather small and the arenas are quite obscure, so less acts have performed there (honestly, I think it'd be almost impossible to find concrete info for the venues in Costa Rica and Puerto Rico), but I really wanna know what possessed this man to book these venues??

He sold the same amount or more tickets for his first tour, in much smaller venues. It makes no sense at all. Booking those stadiums/big venues is more expensive, security for those venues is more expensive, staging is more expensive, you need more man power to put the stage together and apart, you actually have to either have multiple versions of your stage to fit the different types of venues, or have a too big stage at a small venue or a too small stage at a big venue, the ambiance of the show is worse, the sound of the show is worse.

So WHY? Is it the ego trip to claim he performed there? He can't possibly be that ridiculous. He's almost 33 years old. He's losing money. For a lot of these shows, I'm willing to bet he actually, not figuratively, had a loss in terms of the cost of putting the show together vs the gross of the show itself.

This is even though the venues were bigger and he visited more cities. But I thought he was doubling, tripling his audiences? LMAO.

But any positive difference he may have made was most likely offset by the cost of renting those venues and putting the shows together. Plus, not to mention it has been quite the year of inflation globally.

Ricardo Ramos is a very glamorous, over the top musician! He’s an all-in-one kinda guy; he can play music, dance and sing! His design is notoriously inspired by Tango culture, he plays the Bandoneón (Not an accordion. Never call it accordion. He will get offended and he will Not shut up about it) (…but yeah its a fancier looking accordion). He had a special segment in the series where he would teach You and the neighbors about the various rythmes and music genres around the world! When he wasnt doing that though, he was just vibing in Home along with the neighbors.

He’s also argentinian! Although he has'nt got back there in a while. He travels around the globe spreading music and being all charming and whatnot! Very busy! He misses his home a lot tho, so if you happen to name Argentina even once he Won’t shut up. That’s another thing! He wont shut up period. He loves talking and telling wacky stories about his trips (half of them are usually lies!). He constantly talks about how he used to study alongside the best known tango musicians on earth, and how he personally met every single one of them. He is, of course, lying. He didn’t even study music! Everything he knows is self-taught babey!!!

Of course Ricardo would have never visited Home willingly. Hes more of a city guy anyways. He drove into the woods while getting a shortcut to get to another city, his car crashed, he carried his RV to the nearest town (Which was Home) to seek out for help, however absolutely nobody there had any car! It was like cars never existed. How weird! And when he tried to get back into the woods to get his car back, he realized he had no idea where it was! Almost as if it dissappeard. How weird! And this odd town is on the middle of nowhere! Hes completely lost, not knowing how to get out, even if he tries his hardest! Almost as if it was impossible! How! Weird!!! But the neighbors are cool and the town is pretty so. Oh well <3

Feast Days: Martinmas

Happy Martinmas!

Today marks the feast day of St. Martin of Tours, who was bishop there from 371 CE until his death in 397 CE. He is the patron saint of many things, including: against poverty, against alcoholism, the poor, cavalry, Buenos Aires, quartermasters, wool-weavers, soldiers, and tailors, as well as wine growers, makers, and sellers. Whew! He must be very busy.

Keep reading for info about his life, a snitch goose, where the word 'chapel' came from, and how to tell what the weather will be like at Christmas.

His Life

Much of what we know about Martin comes from his hagiographer, Sulpicius Severus, who includes some 'artistic license' that is common in chronicles of the time, and therefore must be taken with a grain of salt.

Martin was born anywhere from 316-336 CE in Savaria, now Szombathely, Hungary. His father was a senior officer in the Roman Army, and as such was given land in northern Italy for his retirement. At the age of 10, Martin attended a Christian church against the wishes of his parents, and became interested in Christianity. Because of his father's status as a veteran, he was required to join the cavalry at 15. Dates surrounding his military service are shaky, but Severus states that, during his time stationed in Gaul, he was riding on horseback when he encountered a poor man with threadbare clothes. Having compassion on him, Martin used his sword to cut his own woolen cloak in two and gave the other half to the man. That night, Jesus Christ appeared to him in a dream, surrounded with angels and wearing half of the cloak. After this, Martin was baptised as a Christian. Though other miracles of his are recorded, this tale is the one most associated with Martin's life. It fits in with depictions of God or his angels in disguise as a beggar, traveller, &c., and is also a narrative found in many other religions and traditions. (Biblical examples include Abraham feeding the three angels in Genesis 18).

With his new faith now firmly a part of his life, Martin decided to leave the army. Before a battle near modern-day Worms, Germany, Martin went before Emperor Julian and refused his salary, saying, "I am the soldier of Christ: it is not lawful for me to fight." They threw him in prison for this, but due to ye olde extenuating circumstances, he was released and discharged without further incident.

Martin made his way to modern-day Tours in France and declared himself a hermit, becoming a disciple and friend of Hilary of Tours. Because Christianity was Not OK™ in the Roman Empire, he and Hilary faced a lot of discrimination, including corporal punishment and exile. After converting his mother to Christianity and having numerous adventures, like living pretty much alone on an island, he and Hilary settled down in and around Poitiers, where Martin established Ligugé Abbey. It is the oldest known monastery in Europe! Martin made it his home base while he preached throughout western Gaul.

In 371 CE, the bishop of Tours died, and Martin was considered a good candidate for a successor. However, he liked living as a hermit and monk, and they resorted to tricking him into coming to Tours and then forced him to become the bishop. Legend holds that he tried to hide in a barn, but a honking goose gave him away. Hence he is the patron saint of geese, which I think is adorable. Martin proved true to his hermit ways, living very simply in huts with his monks. He established a rudimentary parish system, through which he visited different Christian communities and established monasteries. He was very determined in his efforts to convert local Pagans, as well as protect Christian institutions from unfriendly sects in the area, and in some cases he was successful. He died in 371 CE, already a venerated man. His popularity was ensured by his adoption by various French royals and by the Third Republic as a national symbol.

Martin has been portrayed by several famous artists, including Van Dyck, Peter Bruegel the Elder, and El Greco. He is usually portrayed on horseback, dividing his cloak for the poor man, though occasionally he can be seen riding a donkey. This references another story in his life about the time where he met the Devil and outwitted him. It also connects him to the image of Jesus riding a donkey into Jerusalem (recounted in Mark 1:1-11).

Martinmas and its Traditions

Martin lent his legacy to a host of English words and phrases, including those relating to the word 'chapel'. Temporary buildings that held the relic of his cloak (cappa in Latin) were referred to as cappella, and hence the word 'chapel' was born. A similar thing happened to the word 'chaplain', which derived from the word for the priest in charge of the cloak.

Though the Anglo-Saxon church did celebrate St. Martin to some extent, more references to Martinmas celebrations begin to crop up after Norman Conquest of 1066, when the Frenchman William the Conqueror invaded England. Supposedly, he promised to build an abbey dedicated to Martin if his invasion of England was successful. William was very likely familiar with the early Mediaeval association of the battle-hungry rulers of France with St. Martin, and was possibly responsible for his increased popularity in England.

In England and Scotland, and indeed through much of western Europe, Martinmas became a celebration marking the culmination of the harvest and the beginning of winter. From the late fourth century through the late Middle Ages, it also served a similar purpose to Mardi Gras/Carnivale: a period of fasting was ordained for the day after Martinmas through Christmas, so Martinmas was your last chance to stuff your face for a long time! (This period later became Advent, though with much laxer rules). As such, it was a time for feasting, celebration, bonfires, getting really drunk, and even events such as bull-running, as in Stamford, Lincolnshire. It was also a time for the end-of-harvest tasks, such as sowing winter wheat and slaughtering pigs and cattle. An old English saying goes, "His Martinmas will come, as it does to every hog", meaning, "they will get their comeuppance" or "everyone dies someday". Due to Martin's association with geese, some celebrated with a roast goose, but in Britain particularly it was also popular to eat salted pork or beef. For those not rich enough to have a goose, a duck or hen would also suffice. Other traditional fare included black pudding, haggis, and the first wine of the season.

On the business side of things, Martinmas served as a quarter day in Scotland and in parts England. A quarter day was one of four days on which major legal business was conducted. Servants and labourers would be hired or let go, rent was paid, contracts would begin or end, &c. Hiring fairs would be held for agricultural labourers seeking employment, and there would also be entertainment, food, trading, and other scenes of merriment. One of the most famous Martinmas fairs was at Nottingham in England, which lasted eight days.

Like many other English holidays, there is weather folklore associated with Martinmas. To have a warm fall and winter is to have a "St. Martin's Summer". If Martinmas proves an icy day, Christmas (or the rest of the winter) will be very warm. The rhyme puts it more pithily: "If the geese at Martin's Day stand on ice, they will walk in mud at Christmas".

If you stand at the back of the church and observe the congregation on Martinmas, those with a halo of light around their heads will not be alive by next Martinmas.

The church of St. Martin-in-the-fields in Trafalgar Square in London is named after Martin. Many people commemorated there are associated with his anti-war sentiments -- these include Vera Brittain, a memoirist and pacifist; and Dick Sheppard, founder of the Peace Pledge Union. The church also supports houseless and vulnerably housed people.

The holiday gradually fell out of practice due to the English Reformation (when England split from the Catholic Church throughout the 1500s) and the Interregnum (Puritan republican government, 1649-1660). The observance of Armistice Day on the same day largely overshadowed the holiday in the UK, though many regions in Western Europe still take part in traditional festivities.

Martinmas is celebrated on 12 October in the Eastern Orthodox Church.

Buenos Daia everyone. It’s kind of tradition for me to overhaul my ocs after Christmas (and also Daia is flying solo now), so I decided to take a crack at rewriting her. All of her extra info will be below

Daia’s super cool and awesome ninja backstory babey hell yeah

Not much is known about Daia, and that’s just what she wants. Her life before coming to Otogakure is kept carefully concealed; the only people knowing about it are Orochimaru and Daia herself. There are only various tidbits that are known:

She’s from Curtain Village, the capital of the Land of Silence

She worked as a maid briefly, for who is unknown. She continues doing some of this work occasionally; it’s just not her formal role.

She seems to be in Otogakure more for knowledge than power, as she’s always involved with research rather than fighting.

Daia’s actual story isn’t very exciting. She is just another unfortunate street child who was exposed to the world’s cruelty too early to adjust to it. All the girl wanted was for someone to see her and perceive her for who she was, but this was denied at every turn. She had no concrete answer as to why this was, so she turned to literally picking apart the people around her’s minds to find the answers. Like most members of Otogakure, she was eventually found by Orochimaru and chose to leave with him. Due to her high intellect and promising potential, she was spared from being a mere experiment/sacrifice and given a very respectable role. This was the first time Daia had ever felt seen by anyone.

Daia’s Jutsus

Daia’s incredibly potent genjutsu allows her to investigate someone introspectively. When activated, Daia will follow a line of questioning based on any information provided, whether big or small. The genjutsu applies mental/emotional pressure on the person it is being used on, forcing sensitive information about themselves based on the specific line of questioning. Even if they spill the truth, it can also analyze their inner thoughts to do a fact check on what is being said. It takes immense amounts of chakra for Daia to use and can only be used on one target. Standard anti-genjutsu techniques can also counter it.

Daia is not a fighter but can defend herself if needed. She is skilled at weapon-based combat and wields a naginata, which she only carries when she leaves Otogakure for a mission.

Daia’s role in Otogakure

Daia is mainly used as a diplomat for Otogakure; her refined and cold exterior makes for a great dealmaker. Her genjutsu also serves this role perfectly, often diverting any fumble on her part. While in the village, Daia works with various captives to squeeze information out of them. She also partakes in some experimentation, mainly if it concerns the subject’s mind or mental status. If she isn’t needed for these purposes, she can either be found reading or tidying up the various halls.

Daia as a Person

Daia is a very nasty person, no doubt about it. She seemingly does not regard those around her or those under her scrutiny, and she carries herself with an air of arrogance. She will find a way to break someone down, almost like it was a hobby. She’s also known to be a bit childish and almost bratty in nature, creating a strange dichotomy between the ways she presents herself. Deep down, Daia is just someone who’s hurt and confused and chooses to take this out on others. She’s not completely oblivious to her own actions, however, as she does feel guilt over the acts that she commits. She doesn’t have many “they deserve it”s left in her.

Relation to Orochimaru- Orochimaru and Daia have a very strange relationship, as most do with him. While she prides herself on being above the other higher-ranking members, not groveling at the older man’s feet like he’s some kind of god, she isn’t immune to the almost dependant relationships he spins. Daia never received any attention in Curtain Village; the fact that she even gets recognition from him is enough to keep her loyal, chasing after the almost maternal connection she never had. Orochimaru sees her use, I mean duh she’s not strapped to a table, but he plays up his interest in her to keep the younger girl under his fist. He has no qualms about entertaining her needs as long as she does her job and serves her purpose to him. This connection also conflicts with Daia’s inner conflict, as she painfully knows how awful Orochimaru can be. However, he provides precisely what she was yearning for.

Relation to Kabuto- The two hate each other. Full stop. It’s almost nothing but low blows and biting remarks if they ever have to cross paths. Daia views Kabuto as, for lack of better terms, Orochimaru’s little bitch and has no respect for that. Kabuto is just Kabuto; there most likely isn’t a scenario where he wouldn't dislike her. Just look up any BGC clip and that’s the two of them idk.
