Minecraft story mode is the game I vividly remember playing on our xbox in the little room connected to the attic with my sister beside me. I was a Minecraft obsessed kid and this game was so COOL to me at the time. Minecraft??? My beloved game??? But with a story???? That I get to be a part of and change??? Obviously a lot of people don’t like Minecraft story mode and that’s completely understandable, it’s pretty silly and hard to take seriously, but one thing it was was GENUINE. It had unique characters and a story that was new and exciting while still completely grounded in the world of Minecraft. You fought monsters and rode mine carts and interacted with cool red stone stuff and survived a fall from thousands of blocks up by falling into water and when that stupid fucking pig died a pork chop floated on the ground. It was so stupidly, unambiguously, completely, genuinely Minecraft. You were literally a character born and raised in the game. It even had beloved Minecraft YouTubers as guests in a silly murder mystery (that was actually the coolest thing ever ngl). It was for the fans, fully committed to the world the fans already loved. 

Who is this movie even for?? Why does it make this wishy-washy half commitment to the very game it’s adapting?? WHY IS IT ISEKAI?? Where’s the nostalgia?? The childhood experience of playing around in the silly block game with your siblings, not a care in the world?? Why is the sheep on sonic trailer levels of horrifically realistic?? This game is about BLOCKS thats its whole THING that’s why we love it you FOOLS. Why are there curves!? (That can’t happen without mods!!!) WHY IS JACK BLACK HERE?? 

You had such a beautiful, beloved, game with such genuine heart and meaning. The end poem literally makes me CRY and I don’t CARE how stupid that sounds. I don’t even want to try to describe it just go read it. And I just know the movie is going to have such a surface level depiction of what the game is, designed to be brainrot easily consumable for 7 year olds. Something tells me the people who made this movie would just skip past the credits anyways.

every time a woman in pop releases a new album, I listen to it and it's two hours of her talking about how the way that society expects her to perform led to men taking advantage of her and abusing her and then I go online and it is hundreds of takes about her being selfish and stupid and overdramatic and how she's asking for her treatment

and no this is not just about Taylor Swift. I have seen this happen to Taylor Swift, to Halsey, to Olivia Rodrigo, I'm watching it happen in real time with a small-ish gay pop artist Chrissy Chlapecka (who makes amazing music btw, go listen to her!). If a woman releases a song about finding herself attractive or wanting to dance and have fun and you say that that makes her basic and therefore acceptable to dislike, that's just misogynistic rhetoric. If a woman releases a song about how the entertainment industry requires her to maintain a specific image or have her career suffer and you say that smaller artists suffer more or that she has no right to be complaining or that she's not even a good artist anyway, that's just misogynistic rhetoric.

I'm getting a little tired of female artists being held to such high standards that even them openly discussing abuse gets mocked. This doesn't make you more intelligent or less susceptible to capitalism, it just makes you sound misogynistic.

I love webcomics as a concept absolutely to pieces but genuinely I'm fascinated by how much this medium seems to be almost corrosive to us working in it. I'm probably just looking at it too close because it's what's in front of me but I wonder if we really do have more weird drama than other indie art scenes just because like, a lot of us are already mentally ill, then comics is such a punishing medium itself that the usual amount of social tension that comes from posting art online is cranked even higher. As someone with one of the Scary Social Disorders, basically everything about the way the social media spheres for webcomics operate is triggering to me and I'm positive the only thing that kept me from becoming an internet star for the day (Bad) at some point was that I chose to quit socializing in dedicated comic spaces and get therapy years ago instead of trying to stay in the thick of it lmao. Not everybody ends up having to make such a black and white decision so most people just keep hanging out in the pot until it boils.

I'm... honestly kinda tired of tumblr. Like, I like it here but also seeing people I care about get deleted by staff sucks. Seeing the 'queerest place on the internet' be extra draconian to queer (and especially trans) people is miserable.

I have a following here, but... like... I don't care? If you follow me I appreciate you, genuinely, but also my follower count has been high enough to stress me out for years now. I have been using addons to block that number everywhere I can, but I still end up seeing so many notifications that I know how many people are there anyway.

Like... I make a big deal out of being extremely abrasive on here, and while I do agree with everything I say, I also word it in such incendiary ways specifically to try and get people to avoid me. Which I think just made me a bigger target for that one... I don't even know what to call it. It wasn't a callout (to my knowledge), just a really weird wave of targeted harassment against me and my friends and it sucked.

I'm half tempted to just vanish off this site at some point and not tell anyone. Y'all wouldn't even notice anyway, I got 2 months worth of posts queued up. I posture a lot about how none of this bothers me, but the fucking panopticon of social media is a hellscape and I don't want to deal with it anymore. I'm sick of having to justify my own existence to people. I'm sick of having the things that make me unique erased for the benefits of some, while also being enlarged as a target for others still. I'm sick of having to feel like I need to hide who I am because I don't fit into other peoples mold.

I'm sick of meeting knew people who I thought were my friends, only to learn they have been disgusted by stuff I'm passionate about ever since they met me. I'm sick of being stuck on the outskirts of issues while being held at gunpoint to choose a side. I'm sick of people trying to make me into what they want me to be. Of being expected to be something specific. Of being in the middle of issues so caught up in presentation that if you use the wrong semantics you are torn to shreds but if someone else uses the wrong semantics you are a bitch for missing the point.

I'm fucking sick of spending my time on this website constantly looking at the Sword of Damocles dangling and wondering when it will finally fall on me and cost me everything. When the harassment will turn from people being shitty to and about me, to people wanting me dead for who I am. Of every complaint about systemic violence I've been affected by being met with "Okay but are you REALLY affected by this, or are you just playing victim?"

I'm sick of the fact that even here on my own little slice of the internet, there are parts of myself that I'm desperate to share but never can, because I know they will be used against me.
