Konoha: Wow, it’s so great our double agent within the Uchiha Clan has the selfless Will of Fire, completely cancelling out the possibility for trauma, repressed emotion and deep love to trigger the Curse of Hatred and cause them to sacrifice the many for the few they care about. We can relax and leave it all to him :)

Corrupted Minds - THE 100 REWRITE Chapter Twenty-Seven
[THE 100 MASTERLIST]
Previous Chapter / Next Chapter
Summary: After running into the Azgedan prince, Roan, in the forest - or rather him trying to attack Clarke in the forest - the group returned to Arkadia. Their failed attempt at convincing Luna to agree to their plan had forced them to reconsider it. Plan B, getting to Polis and giving the flame to Ontari, but first they would have to fry the chip so that she didn't give everything away to Alie. The AI was still very much a threat, which they had to eradicate if they wanted to be able to move forward.
Words: 5.8k
Warnings: The 100 season 3 spoilers (episode 15 "Perverse Instantiation" Part 1), fluff, violence, strangulation, hanging, blood, there's also Pike :/
“Rover’s almost charged. We need to pack up. We’ll be home soon.” Bellamy said as he checked the panel on the roof of the car. Clarke and Michelle who were walking back and forth quietly looked over at him, glancing at Jasper, sat on the hood. After the shitshow that was their trip to Luna’s community on the oil rig, Clarke stopped in her tracks.
“Then what? We’re running away?”
“We’re not running away, Clarke.” He walked over to her. “We need to regroup with the others and find another way to defeat—”
“There is no other way. We need to find a nightblood. We need to unlock the Flame. It’s the only way to stop Alie.”
“And where could we even find a nightblood? You said Luna was the last of her kind.” Michelle sighed in frustration. All she wanted right now was to check on her dad, but she kept it to herself. This wasn’t the group’s priority; it was only hers. And she would feel selfish to keep bringing it up, as if she even brought it up once, which she didn’t. She crossed her arms over her chest, standing next to Bellamy.
“Yeah, what do you expect us to do, Clarke? Walk into random villages asking for their nightbloods?” Jasper chimed in, sarcastic and non chalant as usual.
“If that’s what it takes.”
“No, Clarke.” Octavia wasn’t seeing eye to eye with her either. “If Alie can find us on Luna’s rig, then she can find us anywhere. I won’t help you destroy another innocent grounder village.”
“If we don’t find a Nightblood, there won’t be any grounder villages, or a home for us to go back to.”
“That’s all the more reason we go there and make sure our friends are okay.” Bellamy hardened his tone, hands on his hips as he leaned to the side, looking at Clarke. It seemed like his words were the end of the argument. Clarke wasn’t angry. She seemed desperate as she gave a look to each of her friends, her gaze landing on Michelle last. The latter slightly shook her head, showing her best friend that she wouldn’t side with her on this. It was unusual for her but since they landed, there were times where the two had grown divided before getting close again, but she almost always followed Clarke on her decisions and it seemed that now, she followed others more, such as Bellamy, or whoever she felt like she agreed with really. Clarke left the group, heading for the forest, disappointed. Michelle briefly closed her eyes with a sigh as Bellamy and her watched her walk away. Jasper could tell they wanted to go after her and brushed it off.
“She’ll be fine. Just let her cool off.” They let their arms hang alongside their bodies and continued to pack their things and put them into the car while the battery finished charging. But quickly, they both wandered into the woods with their guns, thinking Clarke should have been back by then and eventually, they saw the figure of a man in the distance. They sneaked up on them, hiding behind trees. It was Roan, a grounder from the Ice nation, Azgeda. He unarmed Clarke after she held him at gunpoint after taking the Flame from her, saying he found a nightblood, accusing her to have prevented the ascenscion of Ontari – the name didn’t ring a bell for Michelle at all – and it seemed clear his goal is for his Ice nation to get its commander. Bellamy and Michelle eventually stepped out from behing the trees, holding him at gunpoint and this time, he couldn’t possibly attack the both of them.
“Hands where I can see them.” Bellamy motioned for him to put his hands up as he and Michelle slowly stepped towards them. When asked if she was okay, Clarke simply said yes. “Then let’s go.”
“He’s coming with us.” She said.
“The hell he is.”
“Why would I do that?”
“Because we both want the same thing – to put the flame in Ontari.” Everyone frowned, looking at Clarke, thinking.
“How do you know he’s not chipped?” Bellamy asked.
“If he were, do you think he would’ve saved me?” As she spoke, Michelle gave a look to the man’s corpse on the ground, he had a couple arrows into his back and given Roan was the only one with a bow here, it was his doing.
“I guess the dude on the ground was—” Michelle took a step to the side with a start when Bellamy fired at Roan, shooting him in the arm. The grounder let out a groan, his face twisting with pain before being knocked out by Bellamy who threw a punch at his face. Michelle and Clarke pulled their eyebrows together in concern, looking up at Bellamy.
“Now we’re sure.” They didn’t add anything else and let him drag Roan back to the car with them. He was the one that knocked him out and Michelle didn’t want to help him carry the guy. It took them until nightfall to get back to Arkadia and Miller stood by the hangar’s door, keeping watch. Bellamy drove the rover inside and they locked up the hangar after them. Raven waddled towards them as Octavia, Michelle and Octavia got out of the car.
“We were getting worried. Where’s Luna?” Her smile faded as she looked at them, first in confusion and then gradually realizing something was wrong, until she noticed Roan behind them. He had been tied up on the way there, before he came to his senses.
“Luna said no.” Octavia informed.
“Who the hell is this?” Harper was looking at Roan from the corner of her eyes.
“He’s ice nation.”
“King of the ice nation, actually, and he’s our way into Polis.” Clarke added, correcting Bryan, Miller’s boyfriend. No one said anything else, so Bellamy spoke up.
“This way, your highness. Michelle, you two, on me. We’ll take him to lock up.” He turned his head to Miller and Bryan before walking away, pushing Roan in front of him. His arm had been patched up on the way to Arkadia, so they straight up locked in the cells. Stepping in there, Michelle’s eyes swept the room, staring at the corner in which she cuddled up against her father when she was convinced, he was going to be executed the next morning and she was losing all hope and will to live. And Bellamy was still on Pike’s side and Clarke wasn’t there. Michelle found herself completely desperate because she felt abandoned and betrayed by everyone around her. Tough times, but now there was some even tougher stuff heading their way. For all she knew, her dad could be dead already and she was just clinging onto the hope that he was okay, but what if he wasn’t? What would she even do then? Again, she let her mind spiral, and she hated how quickly it was able to descend into some dark places, imagining the worst-case scenarios. She had to hope if he was at least still alive or could be saved from whatever it was he would need saving from, because she wouldn’t know what to do if it wasn’t the case. Leaving the prison wing of the ring, Michelle couldn’t help but let out a fat yawn, her eyes getting watery, so she rubbed them with the back of her index finger.
“We’re gonna get some rest.” Bellamy was walking beside her as they headed for his room. They hadn’t even discussed it, but it just made sense to share a room from now on, and she didn’t tell him, but she didn’t really want to be left alone with her thoughts either. As they entered, she took off her jackets and her gaze lingered on her father’s.
“What if… what if my dad took the chip?” She spoke in a low tone, almost whispering under her breath. The room was quiet, plunged in the dark with just a dim light coming from the nightstand. It was as if she wanted to speak as quietly as possible, as if she didn’t even want to hear herself voice her concerns. He knew what this question really meant as it was the closest thing he would hear to her saying I’m scared. She was staring at the piece of clothing under her hand, containing the tears blurring her vision. She blinked and a couple ran down her cheeks. “I can’t lose my dad too.”
“We’ll beat Alie, and he’ll be fine.” He tried to be reassuring but even he wasn’t entirely sure about how things would end. None of them was. They could, unfortunately, not predict the future. He wiped her tears and held her tight, as if he never wanted to let her go, in silence, for a long minute before he took her face in his hands and kissed her softly, her hands against his chest, feeling the muscles under the fabric of his t-shirt. The kiss grew longer, and more passionate and soon, the two of them broke their embrace for but a second to take off their clothes.

Early the next morning, Bellamy and Michelle went back to the cell with Clarke. Bellamy typed in the code on the little control panel by the door and the door buzzed as he opened. Roan was sat on a bench in the middle of the room and straightened up for but a second as he saw Bellamy, staring at him. Clarke glanced at him, prompting him to speak up. Michelle crossed her arms.
“Sorry about your arm.”
“Makes us even.”
“Like it or not, we need each other.”
“Cut to the chase, Clarke.” He sighed. “You said we wanted the same thing. I want an ice nation commander.”
“And I can give you one, with this.” She pulled out the small box containing the flame.
“And why would you do that when you know she’s vowed to wipe you out?” He raised an eyebrow.
“We don’t have a choice. This isn’t just our war. The enemy we’re up against is after everyone, including the ice nation. The only way to stop her is to get the information off the flame, and the only way to do that is to put it in Ontari’s head.”
“The ice nation isn’t afraid.” He shook his head, squinting his eyes.
“You should be.” Bellamy warned. “This thing doesn’t care what clan you’re from. It controls people, and it will take over the ice nation just like it took over us, one person at a time until there is no one left.”
“It already has Ontari.” This one piece of information finally got Roan willing to listen to whatever plan Clarke had in mind. “We need to disconnect her before she gets the flame, or we’ll be giving Alie exactly what she wants. To do that, we have to abduct her from the center of a city filled with thousands of people whose minds are linked, all of them thinking as one. Whatever one sees, they all see. Whatever one hears, they all hear.”
“I get it.” He stood up. “So when do we leave?”  Everyone then rushed in the hangar, grabbing gas masks and weapons from the racks, preparing for their departure to Polis. Gas masks to protect them from their own knockout gas bombs brought along by Miller from Mount Weather. At least one good thing they got from this god forsaken place. The plan that involved the knockout gas was rather simple, when they would bring out Ontari, they would put them all to sleep to get to her. Raven handed a machine and cables to Bellamy. Ontari was chipped too, so they’d have to do to her what they did to Raven to bring her back, meaning they’d have to fry the chip inside of her.
“I thought Jaha destroyed all the wristbands.” Jasper spoke.
“So did he. Then I came home. There’s only enough usable parts to rebuild one, so use it wisely. Made a few improvements, too.” She smiled. Clarke stepped towards her.
“None of which is gonna matter if you can’t get us access to Alie’s code.” Michelle watched them talk, glancing over at the Rover as Bellamy handed everything to Miller inside.
“You worry about your Nightblood. I’ll worry about Alie.”
“How can you access code that doesn’t exist here anymore?” leaning on a piece of furniture, Jasper straightened up, digging his hands into his pockets.
“We’ve got a plan.” Monty added, coming to stand by Raven’s side. Then arrived Roan and Octavia. Upon seeing them, Bellamy called everyone. It was time to leave so they all embraced each other, wishing good luck to one another before getting inside the car. While Michelle climbed in the back, Bellamy took the wheel and Clarke sat on the passenger seat at the front. They drove for hours until she told him to stop there. It was completely dark outside as Clarke got out of the car. Michelle twisted on the bench, holding on the edges of the passenger seat, looking out of the windshield. After Bellamy glanced at her, he joined Clarke outside and Michelle, Roan, Octavia, Miller and Bryan got out the back. In the distance they could see a tall tower with a fire burning at the top. Polis. Michelle had never been there before and though she was worried with all the chipped people there might be in the city, she was kind of excited to finally see it for herself.
“All right. This is where we split up.” Roan said, breaking the silence. He pointed to his right. “The entrance to the tunnel is right over there.”
“Yeah. We know where it is.” Bellamy replied, dryly. As Clarke turned back to them, Roan looked at her.
“I’m gonna need the flame. Look, this only works if they send Ontari out to get it. If they don’t see it, they won’t do that, not much of a trap without the bait.” Before answering, Clarke glanced over at Bellamy, but he looked away and while Michelle held her gaze, the latter didn’t really know what to do of the flame, so she stayed completely still and stoic for a second, eventually giving her a subtle nod because Clarke was too unsure whether to give in with his request. She pulled out the small box containing the flame and handed it to the Ice nation prince. He grabbed it but she didn’t let go right away.
“I’m coming with you.” Bellamy frowned and shook his head upon hearing her words.
“No way. That is not the plan.”
“It is now.” She was dead serious, and Michelle knew she was standing on business. She wouldn’t let the flame out of her sight, as she then herself said. Bellamy found her idea crazy, given the look on his face. “I’m not letting that thing out of my sight… and I’m the only one who knows the passphrase, so you can tell them that without me, Ontari can’t ascend.”
“You’ll need to look like my prisoner.” She quickly agreed to it. If it was the only way to play this, she would go along. Bellamy immidietaly stepped it and spoke up. Michelle simply crossed her arms and watched. She wouldn’t try to convince her best friend against this plan.
“Wait a second. Give us a minute.” Roan slowly walked away while Bellamy tried to speak to Clarke and change her mind about this. Michelle dragged her feet on the dirt to get closer to them but stayed silent. She glanced at Roan and crossed his gaze as he was looking at them. “You’re really willing to trust that guy with your life?”
“No… but you’ll be covering us the entire time, and I trust you.” Her eyes went from Michelle to him. Bellamy was still not too sure about letting her do this, but he didn’t have that crazed expression on his face. He was resigned. They had no other way of doing this and he seemed relatively reassured to know the rest of them would cover her. They eventually separated, Roand and Clarke crossing the rest of the forest to reach the city and Bellamy, Michelle and the rest of the group running through the tunnel to get in there in time, and sneakily. Bellamy led them until they reached a set of metal grates, covered with grids on the other side. Bellamy got Miller to get them open so they could get out while they peeked outside.
“Let’s get ready.” They gave him a nod, preparing their weapons and setting the cannons at the bottom of the metal frames. As they got their guns ready, Miller and his boyfriend talked about their plans for the future, joking about how they would build a house by the lake and raise chickens, and grow old, which led to an awkward exchange of glances with Octavia, who didn’t have the luxury to imagine a peaceful life with her boyfriend. She could never see Lincoln again. Michelle felt bad for her, of course, but she simply refocused on watching the surroundings through the scope on top of her gun. There were a few people with their eyes closed, just standing there, doing nothing and Michelle looked at them weird until she saw Roan and Clarke appear in the distance, walking through the street. “Roan will signal when he sees Ontari. We wait until she’s standing in front of them, and then we launch the gas.”
“They’re gonna be holding their breath, so we gotta move fast.” Bryan added, rummaging through the bag containing the bombs and masks they took with them.
“Anyone who gets in our way, we use nonlethal force. These people are not the enemy. They’re being controlled. The only thing we’re here to kill is Alie. Is that clear?”
“Clear.” They all spoke in unison, nodding. Bellamy and Michelle flashed the lights on their guns to signal Clarke and Roan that they were there, when the two stopped in the middle of the street. Roan rose his hand and tried to address the people standing and kneeling around them. They heard his voice from where they were hidden as it carried far.
“I am Roan, king of Azgeda. And I have what the commander seeks.” She couldn’t see with the distance, but Michelle noticed he held something in between his fingers. His words seemed to wake up the people and those who were kneeling, stood up, looking at him with dead eyes. They were quickly surrounded by over a dozen people, and it was only when they gathered around the two that they realized how many people there actually was. When they were scattered all over the place, kneeling here and there, it didn’t look like there was such a huge crowd. She frowned when she saw Jaha walk out of the building. They had no idea what that man was doing there, but there was still no sign of Ontari anywhere. They had to keep waiting for her to finally show up. The former chancellor spoke with Clarke and Roan and the latter closed his fist on the flame, seemingly refusing to give it up.
“Something’s wrong.” Michelle noted. None of them had any idea of what was going on and they held their breath when Roan pulled a knife to Clarke’s throat. Michelle had her sight on his head but her finger was not on the trigger, she had no intention of shooting him down here and there, but she was afraid the situation would escalate further. Bellamy urged Bryan and Miller to throw the bombs when suddenly, a bunch of chipped grounders came from behind them and dragged them away from the grates, ordering them to get on their knees and drop their weapons. They pinned the Blake siblings against the wall. She was held against the wall as well, her chest pressing against the stone and her arms in her back. Her eyes darted around the street. Roan eventually let go of Clarke and they turned around, about to attempt to run away when the Azgedan was shot. Michelle grunted. She could see a tall, dark-haired man standing there but some people in the crowd were in the way. Her eyes widened when she recognized her dad, and she called him under her breath. As she feared, he had taken the chip. She looked at Bellamy, with whom she had just discussed this eventuality last night. She began struggling harder and shouting Clarke’s name when the latter was being dragged away and the grounders keeping them in the tunnel slammed her head against the grate to get her to shut up. She winced and groaned but was only slightly disoriented. This wasn’t the worst she had ever been through. Bellamy yelled at them but it only got him hit with the butt of a gun and the group was brought further in the tunnel and made to kneel in the dark.
“Let’s go. She wants Bellamy and Michelle.” The two glanced at each other as four grounders grabbed them by their arms and forced them on their feet. Octavia stood up, worried for her brother and friend, asking where they were taking them, but she got hit in the stomach and bent forward with a grunt. He tried to reassure his sister as he and his girlfriend were being taken away. Michelle was thinking of her father, if she could escape the grounders, she could maybe find him and try to bring him back. This was the stupidest plan she ever had, and she knew it. She was smarter than this, but she didn’t know hos this Alie thing actually worked, and she desperately wanted her dad back. Given how he shot Roan in cold blood out there, he could and would probably do the same thing to her if he saw her, but she was, for some reason, willing to risk it. She wanted to see him. As they walked through the tunnel, a voice rose, and they squinted their eyes. Michelle thought she was crazy for thinking she heard Murphy’s voice.
“You know, if I were you, I’d hit the deck.” One of the men lifted his flashlight and revealed Murphy standing in the way. Michelle frowned in confusion and stared at him. She hadn’t seen him in months.
“Everyone, hit the ground.” They all took the grounders by surprise and threw themselves on the floor when Indra and Pike appeared from behing Murphy and opened fire on their captors. Murphy walked up to them, and Michelle stared at him while he helped her up.
“Fancy meeting you here. More will come. We have to hurry.” He took a quick look at Michelle, probably wondering if the expression on her face meant she was mad at him or just still somewhat confused to see him after so long. He didn’t know she saw him leave with Jaha but they both remembered how he left without a word. They could settle this little misunderstanding after all this was dealt with. Bellamy and Michelle were freed from their bonds by Pike and while he hesitantly thanked the man, she wouldn’t even look at him. If she did, it would have probably been a death stare anyway.
“What are you doing here?” Her brows eventually relaxed but she was still confused by his presence in Polis.
“You’re welcome.” He turned to the rest of the group behind them and kneeled in front of Miller. Octavia didn’t take lightly to seeing her mentor teaming up with her lover’s murderer but as Indra put it, the only way to get out ot there was to work together. She wanted him on his knew and shot in the head, like he did Lincoln. Bellamy took Indra’s side, agreeing with her and the discussion was cut short by Murphy reminding everyone it was time to go, with the sassiness Michelle knew of him.
“We’re not leaving.” Bellamy stated.
“We just saved your lives. Why do I think I’m gonna regret that?”
“Clarke is in trouble.”
“Clarke’s always in trouble.” He wasn’t exactly wrong, but Michelle didn’t like how he made it sound as if it wasn’t that big of a deal. Bellamy was right. They weren’t leaving this city until Alie was dealt with, and Clarke was safe.
“They took her and the flame to the tower. It’s a safe bet Ontari’s there, too. Everything we need to stop Alie is in the same place.”
“If we go up that tower, we won’t be able to fight our way out again.” Octavia was clearly not in on the plan. And no one would blame her, they all saw the danger of going in there. That still didn’t motivate Michelle to chicken out.
“If we stop Alie, we won’t have to.” Bellamy gave a nod and Murphy looked over his shoulder at Pike who sighed and handed a handgun to Bellamy. Murphy wasn’t thrilled about going back there.
“Up the tower. Great.” He said, with his lips stretched into a tight smile. “You know, after this doing the right thing can kiss my ass.”
He then walked away and down the tunnel. Bellamy and Michelle exchanged an unconviced and dubitative look before the group followed him out of the tunnel. They successfully sneaked inside the tower and climbed the stairs, clinging onto their guns, ready to fire if they ran into some trouble. And Pike quickly made use of it as they took a turn and walked down the corridor. He shot two chipped grounder manoeuvering the elevator’s wheel. This was not how the plan was supposed to go and Bellamy was just as quick to remind him of it.
“Hey! I told you, that is not how we’re doing this.”
“They were in our way.” Michelle frowned in disgust as the emotionless response he gave. She never liked Pike, hated him even, and she was just then reminded of how much she despised him. She shook her head in disbelief with a quiet sigh. It wasn’t even just for Lincoln that she wanted to see the man gone, she just wanted him gone out of spite. He was despicable.
“These people are not our enemy. They’re being controlled by Alie, and we can save them.”
“There’s gonna be a lot more people if we don’t move.”
“Nathan’s right. Let’s do this.” Michelle agreed. She did have her own motivation and her need to find her dad hadn’t left her mind. He was somewhere here, for sure. She thought she could find him as they got closer to the throne room where they were supposed to find Ontari, and the flame. Indra went to pull the lever to bring down the elevator. The large machinery began to turn.
“Once we’re up, you blow the elevator and then climb.” Bellamy said, giving Bryan and Miller directions. Again, Murphy didn’t seem too thrilled.
“Come on. You do realize we don’t have a way down, right?”
“A problem for another day.” Indra declared.
“Let’s go. Our ride’s here.” Murphy pushed the elevator’s doors opened and he, Bellamy and Michelle stepped inside. Bellamy turned around as he didn’t hear his sister come with them. She pretended that she wanted to stay down there in case anything went wrong but given she was left with Indra and Pike, it was easy to understand her true motivation to stay behind. She closed the door behind the trio and a few seconds later, they felt the elevator going up. Michelle rolled her eyes when Murphy opened his mouth again.
“You get that we’re screwed, right? Alie already knows that we’re coming.”
“We’re screwed either way.” Michelle said dryly.
“This plan will work.” Bellamy was about to add something, but Michelle beat him to it. There was no smile on her face as she turned her head towards Murphy.
“Why are you here?” She really wanted to ask him where he had been all this time too, but she kept herself from hammering him with questions as if she was the bitter ex-girlfriend, especially because Bellamy was here and it was already awkward enough for the three of them to be stuck in this elevator together, knowing that both boys dated, and currently dating, Michelle. Murphy didn’t meet her gaze at first, giving her a vague answer.
“I’m just trying to survive.” He finally looked at her, briefly glancing at Bellamy as well. “You’re not the only ones trying to save someone you care about.” Then all of a sudden, the elevator abruplty stopped going up. Michelle put a hand on the door, hearing gunshots echoing below. Michelle took a step back when a bunch of grounders started banging on the doors and Bellamy pulled her back and he stepped forward, struggling to keep the doors closed so they wouldn't get in and kill them all. They opened slightly and Murphy charged the electric baton he had in his hand, which Michelle hadn’t noticed. She wasn’t exactly looking him up and down either so apart from the bagback he carried, she hadn’t even noticed he was holding anything in his hands. Bellamy urged him to shock the grounder forcing the door open and Murphy struck him and kept going as other grounders came in front of the doors. Michelle joined him when Bellamy was pulled out of the elevator, and they grabbed his arm and clothes to try to pull him back. They succeeded, in extremis, and Bellamy went back to struggling to keep the doors closed. Michelle tried to help him somewhat, but after he had just been almost dragged outside, he was even more careful, and she knew why he was so eager for her to stay back. He didn’t want to risk her life, because they were out to kill them. Murphy fell backwards and a grounder grabbed his foot. Michelle picked up the baton and shocked him before helping him up.
The elevator eventually started going up again, and Bellamy finally managed to close the doors. The two metal pannels slammed against each other in a loud thud that echoed through the building. Busy to take care of it, Bellamy hadn’t noticed a Grounder slipping inside. He pushed Murphy against the wall violently and grabbed Michelle by the neck and squeezed. She took a sharp breath, her back hitting the wall behind her as he pinned her against it and she tried pushing him away with her legs, through she managed to reach far enough and stabbed his eyes with her nail. The grounder barely reacted, which made sense given that he was chipped. When the door closed, and Murphy stood up, he and Bellamy took on the grounder together and he let Michelle fall to the ground. Her throat was dry, and it was hard to swallow for a moment and she gasped, catching her breath after she had just been strangled. Murphy and Bellamy fought the grounder, and the latter reluctantly shot it. There was no other way to end this fight.
“Are you okay?” Bellamy helped her stand up and cupped her cheek in his hand, taking a closer look at her face and neck. Her neck was red but apart from that, she seemed fine, though obviously a little shaken. She nodded and he drew her into a hug. She could feel his worry in his embrace, and the way his chest heaved quickly, and gradually slowed down as he held her. She hugged him back, and let out a heavy breath, crossing Murphy’s gaze before he looked away, facing the elevator doors. They eventually let go of each other and waited quietly to reach their destination. When the elevator stopped, they opened the hatch above them and climbed on the top, leaving the Grounder’s dead body. They knew they would have people waiting for them on the other side so they waited fo them to enter, get confused as to why there wasn’t anyone inside and Bellamy threw a gas boom through the hatch, knocking out the chipped grounder. They climbed back down, keeping their masks on because of the red smoke lingering in the corridors. Once they got to the door leading to the throne room, they took off the masks as it was clear, and they burst inside, kicking the door open, guns up. Clarke was tied to a pole.
“Bellamy, stop him!” She wasn’t alone, she pointed to their left with her chin, urgently, and they saw the chancellor holding a metal bar in his hand, Ontari lying on the ground, completely still, and a pool of black blood growing around her head. Alie was so keen to not let them get Ontari that she seemingly commanded Jaha to kill her and destroy her brain. Michele and Murphy ran to Abby, on the other side of the room, a noose around her neck, left hanging there, probably led to do this by Alie to torment Clarke and get her to give in and tell them the passphrase. Murphy grabbed her legs, lifting her up a bit to eleviate the pressure on her neck while Michelle picked up the metal barrel. She took a blade lying nearby and stepped on the barrel to cut the rope. Thanks to Murphy holding her, she didn’t hit the floor too hard. Murphy kneeled, untying the noose from her neck. Her lips were bluish.
“Is she alive? Is she breathing?” Clarke asked, completely distressed.
“It’s okay. She’s breathing.” She turned back towards Jaha, urging Bellamy to get the flame from him. Michelle approached her best friend, putting a comforting hand on her shoulder and the latter then rushed to Ontari’s body. She wanted to try and stop the bleeding, to save her.
“I got the flame.” Bellamy informed.
“Her pulse is weak.” Clarke frowned in concern while Michelle and Murphy came by her side to help. She gave a cloth to Murphy, telling him to hold it to the wound.
“Come on, what are you gonna do?” Murphy enquired.
“I need a flashlight.”
“First, we take out the chip. Then we put in the flame.” Bellamy shared the instructions. He didn’t know their plan; he wasn’t there with the group when they all discussed it earlier.
“Her pupils are unresponsive.” She sighed, sitting back on her heels.
“What? What does that mean?”
“She’s gone.” Michelle said, staring at Ontari’s face.
“She’s brain dead. She can’t give us the kill code.” Clarke explained further. “It’s over.”
“We’re trapped here.” Murphy looked up, a defeated look on his face and they all looked at each other, gathered around the young woman’s dead body, and having absolutely no idea of what to do now. They had no way out of the tower, and no night blood to use to stop Alie. A feeling of despair washed over Michelle and she stared into the void.
