Plus he's a DJ, he says musical puns to describe actions. The remixing is implying he got her on his side via manipulation and not direct brain "washing". God.

People really don't care that much about Callie to even look at outside sources, they just see the English script and take it as is because "Callie is silly and Splatoon is silly." Fucking hell man. Not even people who deep dive into timelines, reviewers, NEARLY EVERYONE!

Why do you think people call her HYPNO Callie huh?! What do you think HYPNO stands for? Use the fleshy pink thing in your skull. GOD! DAMN! I know Inkipedia calls her brainwashed Callie and says she was kidnapped sometimes on some of the pages, but that's down to the site being run by multiple people who have different levels of engagement in different areas of Splatoon.

If i come across one more fucking person that calls Callie a dumbass or airheaded for putting the shades back on i will literally throw myself out off of the tallest floor on the god damn Burj Khalifa. Callie was suffering from an addiction and y'all laughed at it because the game poorly presented that idea due to time constraints.

the biggest, most copium agent 4 theory from this clown of an agent four enjoyer

apologies for the wait on this! i wanted to unlock all of the dev diaries to make sure i could squeeze out every last bit of lore...

anyways SIDE ORDER SPOILERS INCLUDING POSTGAME

so let's start with the common knowledge. most people know by this point that agent 4 has a palette. it's one of the first you get in the game, after pearl and marina's. to the surprise of nobody, it is a splattershot...

according to what marina says about the memverse, palettes are a portion of a person's soul dragged into the memverse. so agent 4's soul got dragged in here somehow. how did this happen, and why? there are a few possibilities...

marina mentions in her eighth dev diary that she needs someone to handle system security. she writes: "maybe i can ask that person cuttlefish introduced me to for help there." this is still pretty vague, but we know from smollusk's note on agent 4's palette that it is definitely agent 4. quote:

"THIS is who mawina wanted in charge of memverse security? this unfwappable, free-spirited so-and-so? i would never abide it!"

the question is: if agent 4 was intended to be security for the memverse, then where are they? this leads us to the parallel canon boss!

note that figure in the center. even though all descriptions for this boss describe it as "a lot like eight", it is clearly an inkling with its pointed ears and hair.

the hairstyle is significant, too. all art of this boss, including its icon, display it with the "haircut" style. why does this matter? because official art of agent 4 also uses this style:

on top of that, people have reported that if you have splatoon 2 save data on your switch, the boss will use whatever hairstyle your inkling uses in that game (with that inkling, of course, being agent 4). unfortunately, i forgot to take a screenshot of my save, but maybe someone could reblog this and confirm?

another thing to note about that agent 4-looking robot in the center is that they're wielding the order shot, which is the same weapon you get from agent 4's palette.

so what exactly am i getting at with all this? let's read a little more of smollusk's notes on agent 4...

"buut...no weason such stwength shouldn't be used to pwotect a world of order. an order defense force is MUCH cooler than a new squidbeak splatoon anyway!"

this phrasing is particularly interesting to me because it implies smollusk wants to, or already has utilized agent 4's strength in some way. additionally, smollusk regards fans of chaos in a very similar way. for almost all of them, he argues they must be "punished". examples:

"she must be PUNISHED!" - callie's palette

"her chaotic lies must be PUNISHED!" - shiver's palette

"for the sake of order, they all must be PUNISHED!" - frye's palette

"it annoys me, so he must be PUNISHED!" - big man's palette

"he must be PUNISHED!" - sheldon's palette

"i sentence him to PUNISHMENT!" - dj octavio's palette

almost all of these characters are on the side of "chaos". callie and dj octavio were on the chaos side of the final fest, while shiver, frye, and big man rep the splatlands, basically the land of chaos. no idea what smollusk's beef is with sheldon though that guy was neutral LOL

on the other hand, smollusk is notably softer with characters on the side of "order", like marie, murch, and marina (obviously). he still critiques them, but he doesn't sentence them to "punishment".

agent 4 was on the side of chaos in the final fest. so why didn't smollusk sentence them to "punishment"?

perhaps it's because smollusk is already making use of them...by using their soul to control the parallel canon boss!

think about it! the bosses of the tower are basically security, right? they keep you from reaching the top! since smollusk knows from marina that agent 4 was meant to be security, it could have pulled in their soul to fulfill that job. that's why agent 4's palette is there, and that's why we don't physically see them in the dlc! because they're grayscaled in the outside world!

…it is also definitely possible that the boss is just INSPIRED by agent 4, taken from marina's memories, or something like that. but i like this theory because it explains why agent 4's soul ended up in the memverse.

one other thing - i think the popular opinion is that the parallel canon boss are "robots", due to the way they move, their eyes glowing, the filter on their voice, etc...this is probably true, but have you ever wondered if the boss is actually a real inkling (a digital…real…inkling? you get the idea) if it was just a robot like the others, why would it specifically have ears and hair? not only that, but you can get the parallel mask from the priz shop:

which you wear on your face. what if this is the real agent four, wearing this parallel mask? their gray coloring could be because they're grayscaled! after all, we never actually see a representation of grayscaling in-game. the name implies that they'd actually turn gray in some way, maybe in the color of their tentacles. but this could be the most dramatic extent of it!

this is definitely a stretch, but you can consider it food for the die-hard agent 4 angsters out there. love you guys <3

Sleeping positions PT. 2

Happily writing part 2! Now for the last part, I only had two Templars and most of them were assassins! Here I will write the rest. 🙂‍↕️ if you all want me to write anything else, just leave a comment or even ask! And I’ll try my best :3 I hope you all enjoy!

Part 1

Charles Lee

Alright, so I *know* this guy is bad and everything but so is Haytham lol. He just has…a charm to him. Even though he is a brute and can be very much of an asshole. But is he an asshole to you? No, he can be firm and a little strict. But he *spoils* you. He is so sweet to you in private, especially in bed. He loves to hold you close and take in your scent. Charles is very much possessive and doesn’t like anyone looking at you too long. At night he holds you close, squeezing you gently and whispering sweet words to you. He is a light sleeper, always making sure that he and you are safe. He likes to be the big spoon, on rare occasions he will be the little spoon, but that’s when he’s exhausted.

Thomas Hickey

This man cannot take his hands off you for a second. Remember when we first meet Thomas in the game and he pulls the woman into his lap? Yeah, he is *all* over you. Even if you two are just cuddling. He can’t help it! How can he when you’re just so…delicious? If you’re with Thomas, just know he’s going to be either pissed drunk or tipsy. Sober? What’s that? At least he smells like liquor and not just stench. Sorry, getting ahead of myself! But in bed, Thomas starts off holding you close. Before he is sprawled out on his back, leg hanging off the bed and snoring like a damn bear. You love him though, moving to sleep on his chest with your leg thrown over his waist and his arm over your back or neck.

William Johnson

The man that he is! 😩 he’s so handsome, polite and well spoken. I just *know* he has the best smelling cologne and clothes. That man looks so well put together and clean beside Haytham. Anyway, William is a reader before bed type of man, loving to hold you in his lap as you drift off to sleep while he reads a book. Sometimes he will read to you in his soothing voice, rubbing your back or even running his fingers through your hair or over your neck. Anything to keep touching you. When he does fall asleep, he’s quiet yet a heavy sleeper. He doesn’t snore often, sometimes a little snore here and there, but he’s usually very quiet. He will cradle you close, holding a hand to the back of your head and having you almost lay on top of him.

Evie Frye

This woman is so beautiful, sassy, intelligent. I love her 😭 but for her, I imagine she would love to hold you close. She can be either the little or big spoon, it doesn’t matter as long as she has you close to her. But you *do* have to force her to stop looking at maps and finding clues to the templars as she will be up all night. She does like to read but she usually falls asleep from the exhausting day she had. She snores softly and it’s actually really cute when you hold her close or she holds you.

Kassandra the Eagle Bearer

You guys remember the scene where she’s oiled up? Thank you Ubisoft cause Kassandra is a damn gorgeous woman. And she’s so tall strong beautiful. 😭 anyway! Kassandra doesn’t really care where she sleeps as along as she has you with her. I imagine she would love to sleep outside on the balcony or even the roof of her home in the sun. Greece is always beautiful, even during thunderstorms. She loves to hold you close to her chest and no matter what size you are, she wants you on top of her so she can hold you. She doesn’t snore even when exhausted, but she does sigh and sleep talk. Sometimes you have full blown conversations with her and tease her about it when she is fully awake. She doesn’t mind PDA. She loves to give you kisses and hugs, pulling you close to give you love.

Alexios the eagle bearer

Okay! So if we’re going with the canonical version of the game, Alexios is the “bad” guy in the game. So he’s very untrustworthy and paranoid. Even when getting out of the cult and staying with his family. He loves you so much that it hurts, but sometimes he does have his episodes and doesn’t like to be touched. But the days that he wants you close, he’s holding you close. Almost hiding in your chest, curling into you as you wrap your arms around him. He doesn’t like PDA at all, preferring to give kisses and cuddles in private. But he’s working on that, he likes to hold your hand and hold you close in public. Kissing you on your cheek or forehead.

Bayek of Siwa

Bayek the man that you are, he is so fine, such a gorgeous, sweet, family man. 😭 I imagine he would love to hold you close, keeping you in his warm big arms. He would have nightmares of his son on that night so you would have to help him through it. But he still loves to hold you close during the colder nights, whispering sweet words in Egyptian and English. He loves to leave kisses on your cheek, face, mouth. Anywhere he can leave kisses he will place them.

(A lot of these characters sleep on their back lol. It’s comfortable 🙂‍↕️)

He sleeps on his back, with his arm wrapped around your shoulders and your arm over his chest. He is a light sleeper, always making sure to get up if something goes wrong.

im really endeared by your concepts for re_rise, i was unsatisfied by return of the mammilians and you’ve put together a really sound story! about to say what i’ve taken from it, so sorry if there’s some innacuracy…

my favorite part off the bat is switching the splatoon for deep cut. imo they’ve been the unquestionable good guys for way too long. plus accidentally working against an oblivious/aimless squidbeak splatoon who’s goal is just to get their gramps back, when youve been investigating grizzco and alterna all game is just a refreshing and well contrasting take on a story. it feels like acknowledgment for the previous campaigns story flaws (being it’s in-general non seriousness!!!)

i always felt deep cut always had the potential to be a bunch of very cool and laid back mentors. they just seemed experienced in what they do, and working alongside them sounds VERY cool for a 14 or so year old cephalokid. (additionally, thered be a break in formula by not making the new kid an agent, rather a personal member of deep cuts heist squad. WAY cooler!!!) always felt their dialogue and personalities are pretty exaggerated when they’re on-air, so seeing what they’re like without an audience sounds more than interesting. if that’s the route you go, itd be another way to set them apart from the previous idol bands, who are always their authentic entertainer-type selves when cameras are on. in that case, what would they be like? what things would they feel like talking about? how different would they really act? all things you can answer if you want. but that was my love letter! thanks for writing up such cool concepts, and making such amazing designs. i even made little analyses on them for the color choice… this is long enough already though. tldr thank you!!! 🩷

So I totally agree with you about the idea of the player character not being an agent for once…even though I still technically call them Neo/New Agent 3. ^^; I just couldn’t think of my own thing to call them; I feel like such a huge break away from the series’ convention is something that should be determined by the canon…and probably will be soon if my predictions about Splatoon 4 turn out to be correct. ;)

I guess it would be cute if Deep Cut gave them a funky nickname instead, like ‘Shark-bait’ or something. Although that would work better if they all had nicknames for each other; like true alter-egos for their bandit work…I would like that~.

Anyway, as for the main question: tbh I didn’t really put much thought into how Deep Cut’s personalities might change…but that’s mostly because I felt a ton of added depth would be inevitable, by the simple act of elevating them from roadblocks to actual characters you can interact with. ^^; So this is basically what I would do:

-Shiver kinda has a ‘2 Cool 4 Skool’ girlboss thing going on (I think?? Tbh for a series as campy as Splatoon, her characterization is really weak…) so I think her alter-ego should have a more grounded, ‘wise mentor’ persona. Like, she can still trash-talk you and keep that ruthless attitude that she has, but here we’d supplement that with real teaching moments and positive affirmation to show why people should really be drawn to her.

-Meanwhile, Frye has this hyper-cute yet ‘rough-and-tumble’ personality, so I think her alter-ego should be more laid-back and relaxed. This way she can keep her positive demeanor; she’ll just express it in a different way, maybe showing the audience more of her mature and sensitive side. 

-Last but not least, Big Man is characterized as a typical airhead, with hints of a responsible ‘parent friend’ (eugh) underneath…so I would let him be more serious as a bandit, maybe even a little edgy. Of course, seeing as he’s a giant manta ray with an (owo) face, ‘edgy’ is probably still gonna come off as comedic for him, but I think that’s fine as long as he has actual moments of gravity to ground them. I want him to feel like a real ‘senpai’ for the player character, not just a funny mascot…y’know, occasionally commanding the respect that you’d think a ‘parent friend’ would have.

From tearing off the headset to running into a wall with it still on, how would everyone react to seeing something in VR? And how would their partner react to seeing them react in such a way?

Four would freak out, because the headset reminds them of the Memverse, and they’d panic. Acht immediately takes it off of them and helps them calm down. As for Acht, they’d just walk right into a wall. Four thinks it’s funny, but also goes to help them recover.

I kind of always thought that VR might remind Callie of wearing the hypnoshades. Because of that, I think she’d either really hate VR, or even relapse into the hypnosis. In which case, Elita would be super worried for her, and immediately take the headset off and try to help her. Elita on the other hand would think VR is pretty fun. Callie still doesn’t like it, but she’s glad Elita is enjoying it.

It would give Marie a really bad headache, but that’s about it. Shina just tells her not to wear it for too long. Shina however would run right into a wall, much like Four. Marie laughs hysterically at it, but then goes to make sure she’s okay.

Shiver doesn’t really like it, but she doesn’t have a very big reaction. Birch just wants Shiver to enjoy herself. Birch would be a little disoriented by it, but they wouldn’t hate it. Shiver keeps tapping their shoulders to confuse them.

Frye would have a ton of fun, and she’d be laughing in excitement. Elle thinks it’s really cute. Elle would probably be really used to it, since, you know, the Memverse. She would hardly have a reaction. Frye likes to try and encourage her, even if she’s not doing anything big.

Pearl would have a bunch of fun as well, but she’d mostly be excited because she knows this is the kind of thing Marina would love. Marina does love it, and she even makes a bunch of games and mods for the VR headset, which she has Pearl test out.

Captain would not really care, she just gets bored very fast. Big Man and Eight try to encourage her to have fun. Eight, being used to being in the Memverse as well, is pretty used to this kind of thing by now, and just has fun playing video games, which Captain and Big Man are happy about. Big Man would think it’s cool, but he would inevitably walk into a wall. Eight and Captain try to help him recover.

Making this post so I can point at it later if any of these are right but behold. My splatoon 3 final splatfest theories

Option 1 (the most obvious): Deep Cut vs Off the Hook vs Squid Sisters

Two different ways this could go. They probably have the assets to make it so that each team is actually led by the group of it's namesake (maybe the splatfest tee colours would have the signature colours of the group as either a gradient or pretty tie-dye stuff, and the ink colours in matches would be random but made sure they're at least visibly different. oth vs ss would pick one pink one green for example). The hub worlds would show the colours for that team. The main reasons I don't think they would do this are a) the news segment would be complicated (would they be switching between studios mid-scene? is everyone just crowded into deep cut's one ???) and b) the Inkopolis hub worlds are dlc

The other way they could do this is for OtH and SS to be represented by Frye and Big Man respectively, because we do sort of now have a set-up where each member of Deep Cut has a specific connection to each idol group. Shiver is the leader of Deep Cut (via Splatfest Results Only), Frye has now gained some kind of bestie rivalry with Pearl, and Big Man has been making music with the Squid Sisters. While I don't think it would be in-character for Frye or Big Man to choose those groups over Deep Cut (they have their code!!) they might be leading the teams as a sorta, someone has to root for the underdogs / Well Deep Cut Is Just Us Do You Want To Be Boring Shiver We Have To Have Opponents In Order To Win

Option 2: Past / Present / Future

I've had this idea since near the start of the game and since we've already had an idol VS splatfest for the first anniversary they might not be planning to do another one. This would also be an interesting theme as a Regular Splatfest Which Is Not The Last One but I feel like it's kind of meaningful enough to be a finalfest one in the same way Chaos vs Order was? (and could, technically, cause world theming for a splatoon 4, I guess. do we go traditional or futuristic or make everything the same as before / just kind of Still)

The assigned teams for this are in that order but the reasoning is:

Shiver: Past. They're proud of themself and what they've achieved and their lineage, so the past is important to them. You have to have done well in the past to have a good present or future, right? (also they sure have Won Lost Of Splatfests in the past. lol)

Frye: Present. She's enjoying the now! Live for today! Why worry about the past or the future when you can live one day at the time and now have to worry about what has or will happen? (also, Frye is a gift to us all)

Big Man: Future. He's very chill and looking forward to what the future will bring! Potentially a little Worried about the future as well, with being the head of his clan now, but are the past and present not equally worrying?

Anyway fun and silly explanation this is not supposed to be a serious "so This is what the theme will be based on my guessing" but I just think these would Be Fun And Possible. I just wanted to place this here as a time capsule <3

I got major brainrot during skating so I got a decent amount of the splatoon au figured out

So we have Geoff in Callie’s place, obviously, and with Bridgette in Marie’s that makes the “””squid sisters””” (name is subject to change cause it does NOT fit) (I think something beachy might work but the best I could come up with was Blue Wake)

And then for Off The Hook (idol group/news anchors in the second game) I had Justin as Pearl and Cody as Marina

And then for Deep Cut I had Heather as Shiver Duncan as Frye and Harold as Big Man (Harold is not a manta ray in this) (Harold actually has a collaboration with OTH + Trent and then gets dragged by heather and Duncan, publicly, with a diss track, that he made since he makes the tracks for them, and the album cover is the other two beating the shit out of him) (I love splatoon it’s so)

(The player character agents are subject to change especially since the new dlc side order is gonna come out in February)

So for now Courtney is Agent 3/Captain 3 Ezekiel is agent 4 (side order seems like it’s gonna drag agent 4 through the trenches so I’m excited) Agent 8/applicant 10008 is Gwen (agent 8 CANNOT catch a break btw) and Neo 3 is dj (little buddy is still little buddy little buddy does not change) (oh yeah and don is captain cuttlefish) (he gets raisined) (1 and 2 are Geoff and Bridgett and 5-7 do not exist 8 was named agent 8 to shorten applicant 10008)

For the antagonists Octavio is Chris, I didn’t really have anybody in mind for Tartar but tartar can probably stay the same since he’s from the human era and everyone else is not. And then Mr grizz was blainely and she’s also not a bear.

The judds are also the same since I dont want to have to deal with immortality and stuff plus they’re cats (meow)

I don’t know who’s gonna fill up rolls like shopkeeps and band members other than idol groups and to be honest I don’t really care all that much.

So yeah I don’t think this au is just hypnotized!Geoff anymore I might have gotten a bit too silly :3

Small pet peeves after the new art for the Japanese Splatfest came out: why is Frye NEVER in any indian-inspired clothing?? Shiver almost always is. It's not that Frye is any less traditional, we see her reference splastlandian traditions more often than the two others.

Would it kill them to have her have any item that references the culture she's based on...? I get it'd be harder for Big Man because he's a manta but even a small accessory or item near him would work.

That's something that also shows in their in-game songs. Most of them are generic pop, it's the live arrangements that bring back some of their unique sounds. Still, the Japanese inspirations are stronger, partly because Shiver always has more focus so her enka singing style is front and center. Daybreaker Anthem was a nice change of pace but the only live rendition of Calamari Inkantation 3mix has the Deep Cut part cut out... With the one moment where Frye's harmonies are Indian-inspired. I know the goal was to give the Squid Sisters more time in the song, because they always throw Deep Cut to the side in favor of the previous idols, but damnit for once we got a cool Deep Cut moment and something that brought out all the different cultures that inspired the characters at once...

The latest concert remedied that with the new arrangements but I can't help but think that visually, the team hasn't been it

From the artbook, we know how much was lost and how watered down the designs were but ffs Shiver is still shown on promotional material with a clear Japanese influence. Maybe Frye likes more modern styles but you can't tell me that gremlin wouldn't rep some traditional clothing or try to put a modern spin on it (contrasting with Shiver who doesn't). I get that dynamic from Callie and Marie. Both are from a more japanese-like area and Marie likes the aesthetic or her culture in general more while Callie just follows modern trends. It works because both have the SAME culture. With Shiver and Frye, it feels like one's culture is erased or pushed aside in favor of the other.

Idk, maybe they wanted one to be more modern à la Squid Sisters but bigger. Maybe they don't really dare show anything other than Japanese culture. But in the end, that just really sucks. Her strong japanese focus also makes Shiver stand out among the idols, doing the same for the other two members would help the trio in general have something that sets them out

Monster Hunter x Splatoon: What weapons would the characters use?

I keep forgetting I can just post whatever I want. I'm going to make no sense if no one plays monster hunter on here. Iceborne specific because that's the one I'm most familiar with (with exceptions). I do miss unga bunga MH4 charge blade.

Callie - A hammer main no question, unga bunga, ledge crits, sliding sonic spins, just here for a good time.

Marie - Heavy Bow Gun, specifically with a Wyvern Snipe and pierce setup, although she is not averse to using stickies and clusters, whatever gets the job done fastest. One of those players who never lets the monster get up.

Pearl - Dual Blades, obviously. She loves doing the Attack on Titan spin and the evade shot. Somehow really good at tail cuts.

Marina - Lance when playing just with Pearl, Hunting Horn in a bigger group. Best weapons for best girl. JK, I just think she'd get a kick out of counters and memorizing HH song combos. She has stuck with HH through all its changes and will continue to in the future. Really aggressive as Lance, health augment is her friend.

Big Man - Great Sword. He's the type to have a monster's moveset memorized and capitalize damage to the nth degree. Almost no whiffs and has amazing positioning except when playing in groups, but there's no helping that.

Frye - I feel like Insect Glaive is a good weapon for her, she vibes with the flowy moveset and LOVES the insect customization. Names her bugs after her eels. Regularly competes with Pearl about who can cut the tail first.

Shiver - Bow, what else. Wannabe speedrunner, so many armor sets, and extremely customized radial menu. Cannot stand playing in groups because it messes with their flow, but will do it for Deep Cut while looking like this:

NSS kids:

Captain 3 - Longsword. Weeaboo emo roots run deep okay. Prefers Sunbreak's iteration of Longsword because SO. MANY. COUNTERS. but will make do with Iceborne. Does the weapon pose after every hunt.

Four - Sword and Shield or Light Bowgun. Versatility is the name of the game and Four is winning it. Will wreck house with status builds, traps, and well-placed barrel bombs.

Eight - Charge blade. Obsesses over Guard Points and has the know how to perform them regularly, even the savage axe guard point. Loves the technicality of the weapon.

Neo 3 - Switch Axe. Took one look at this goofy ass weapon and fell in love. Also prefers Sunbreak's iteration because more mobility options, but Iceborne just has that explosion oomph.

i got a request to do some cg squid sisters and tiny deep cut! here we go!

deep cut is already chaotic as they are, but when tiny? it's a whole new ball game. big man isn't known for having the same energy as the other two, but it seems to be contagious when they're small! the squid sisters have had to deal with quite the shenanigans in alterna, one of them being that time when frye managed to fly big man like a kite... and he was shiver's noble steed! (frye jumped like she would be able to reach them in the air and they had to bring out the eels to get the babies back. fortunately, the eels were able to distract them for a bit and keep deep cut out of trouble) ironically, the squid sisters are surprised to find that deep cut falls asleep quite easily for naps. marie has learned to just let them run around until they tire themselves out (sometimes callie along with them!) it's not uncommon to find the babies napping together in a little cuddle puddle, master mega like an odd, scaly mattress, the eels as slithery pillows, and big man of course being the blanket for the other two!

(though they'll never admit it, the squid sisters always look up to whatever shenanigans the babies will get up to next time!)

This may be special interests that should not be touching, touching but just hear me out.

For so long I have been thinking about A Splatoon and Hellsing crossover for a while. I thought it would be like this. I thought Deep cut would be the best swap.

Integra: Would replace shiver, her hair would resemble that of an inkling and her glasses would be more square and possibly decorated same outfit everything.

Alucard: would be in big man's place. I have had a few mental designs for him but I'm thinking of a big shawl that's sheer with big man's design on it sandals dyed fingertips. Possibly having his usual set of very sharp teeth. Since in game big man is the producer and composer. I thought it would be a cute little head Cannon that for this he uses the souls that he took as background vocals. (Ik they got taken but shhhh) Also light up tattoos that change color accordingly

Seras: would be in Frye's place. She would be an octoling and have very similar hair to the enemy octolings but a little more gussied up. For her arm I was thinking either the regular smoke kind of body that it has or having it replaced with spiked ink almost. As for her eye, I was thinking of a very flat eye with similar properties that we see in agent 3 for octo expansion during the fight.

What if Pixel added the option to change into any fictional character in the memverse? How would everyone react and who would they turn into?

All the kids think it’s the coolest thing ever. I just watched Lord of the Rings… so I’m making them all choose to be characters in the Fellowship of the Ring…

Kaito is Frodo, Gibbous is Sam, Lyra is Gandalf, Cassie is Gimli, Megan is Merry, Don is Pippin, Pixel is Legolas, and Sage is Aragorn!

As for everyone else, I probably won’t give every single person a LOTR character, but I had to do it for the kids.

Four would switch between a bunch of different video game characters. Acht would either be themself or the partner to Four’s video game characters.

Callie would be specifically Mesmerizer Hatsune Miku. Elita would be Sonic.

Marie would be specifically Mesmerizer Kasane Teto. Shina would be Shadow.

Shiver would be either an anime villain or a blahaj. Birch would be Shark Boy (from Shark Boy and Lava Girl).

Frye would be a dragon. No specific dragon, just a dragon. Elle is  Roz (from The Wild Robot).

Pearl is Sailor Uranus. Marina is Sailor Neptune. (both from Sailor Moon)

Captain would probably just be herself, but when she thinks no one is around she’ll be Meta Knight. Eight is Kirby because he knows about Captain being Meta Knight. Big Man is King Dee Dee Dee to match Eight’s Kirby.

Peachy and friends comic really strongly emphasizes the theme of "the illusion of anarchy" that's underlying in the game. The notion that the people seem and proclaim that they are free but really they remain under a watchful eye. Mars knows about all this and he had a speech about it at the end of the comic.

Deep Cut (and the NSS as a whole) are implied to be in on it (or at the very least take orders from The Ghost in the Wires) as well. Peachy's appearance on the Anarchy Splatcast was arranged to save face and sweep Peachy's troubles under the rug. How much Deep Cut really know is up for question, but they were complicit in Peachy's oppression and obeyed the commands of the Ghost.

With the fall of the Ghost, Deep Cut's power in society was crippled. Many still looked up to them as the people's leaders, but many were wary of their influence, and many turned to Ira because Ira was so confident and bold about what needed to be done.

I know they were able to build themselves back. To become an almost more real version of themselves: the underdogs, the voice of the people, the "glue" that brought Splatsville together, but I'm sure it tasted wrong.

"We did something bad" they all agree in private. They covered up a conspiracy, they played puppet to a greater control, they let someone get hurt. It's a bad thing, but sometimes the bad thing is the right thing to do.

"We're looking out for ourselves" Shiver would say. Their Splatcast gave them a cushy position in their society, they were well off, they were thriving.

(Shiver is the leader of course. Elected by the people in the final Splatfest before the fall of the Ghost and the collapse the Splashtag system. (A Splatfest that was rigged from the start, but of course, they all were.) Frye and Big Man smiled and nodded and agreed the position was right for her))

"We're looking out for the people" Big Man would say. Ignorance is bliss sometimes. The people were under a thumb, but they were safe, fed, happy.

(Big Man was always a pushover. He nods along and agrees with whatever Shiver says. There's good in his heart, but he's too trusting.)

"It had to be done" Frye would agree, nodding along, but the more she thinks about it, the less she believes it.

When questioning the morality of their actions in the weeks that follow, Frye's friends just echo "We did what had to be done", but it's not enough for her.

To leave isn't an option. Frye is a public figure and her appearance is vital in maintaining the illusion of peace and control, but her free time is still her own. In wondering where her place in the grand scheme of things really is, a name comes to mind, one she heard mentioned offhandedly when Deep Cut formed ties with the NSS.

Someone who wasn't sure if her job was right for her.

Someone who wasn't sure she was doing the right thing.

Someone who was brave enough to go against the rule when her conscience told her to.

I still have a lot to say about Palette Colors so I'm saving that for another post, but before I go make that post [it'll be a long one] I gotta talk about the choices for the weapons themselves.

Pearl, Marina, 4, Callie, and Marie are all pretty much locked in place. Easy choices, they all track.

Why the fuck does Shiver have the tri-stringer and Frye have the splatana

They literally explicitly use splatana iconography around Shiver, it's what the attacks Master Mega does are based on. I don't like saying this kind of thing but it literally feels like they just Forgot that Shiver was the splatana one. Kinda ties in with them in general barely giving Deep Cut any attention in this game (I'm still gonna make a post about that, too). I would also argue Frye's combat style is more accurately represented by the tri-stringer, considering she fires multiple projectiles [the eels] at you.

Why does Big Man use a bucket? He's a caligrapher, shouldn't he use the paint brush? It's not like the paintbrush is an especially Sheldon-y weapon. For that matter I would argue the bucket suits Sheldon better, if only because he's a horseshoe crab (like a little bucket).

I suppose Octavio using a splatling makes sense from the angle that he tends to fixate on big oversized weapons. Murch getting the luna blaster feels like a very "we've got nothing else in particular in mind" sort of choice. Which is fine I guess but I have no strong feelings about it.

Eight's weapon being the Octoshot is stupid and genuinely pissed me off a lot. Like- from a strictly lore perspective, I would've given her a charger, it's the only weapon she explicitly mentions in the mem cakes and it's, you know, The Amiibo Weapon. In my mind Eight's main weapon will always be an E-Liter. That being said, gameplay wise, I understand not making it that because obviously Marie has to be the charger one.

But the fact that there are 11 palettes, one for each weapon, and they save the 12th, Eight's, for the veeeeery end, REALLY sets you up for disappointment. Like I would've figured it'd be like, you can make the palette yourself (main, sub, special, and colors), since it's (Your) palette. Or, to coincide with Eight's palette being Weird, that it would be a Random Weapon, maybe per run or even per floor. The latter would absolutely make it harder, but I think making it just A Second Splattershot is the most boring choice possible.

...All that being said, it bugs me a lot less than Shiver and Frye having swapped weapons. Like why even give shiver the sword motif if she uses a bow and frye uses a sword. Absurd.
