Your thoughts aren’t you.
But they try hard, pretending to be. They are imposters, impersonators. Don’t let them fool you.
You are vast. They are limited, you are not. They come and go, you don’t.
Without a thought, you still exist, like a sky with or without clouds.
Thoughts depend on you. You don’t depend on thoughts. Your thoughts aren’t you.

Be Warned: An Impostor is Among Us
I recently finished reading Oliver Darkshire's book Once Upon a Tome. Mr. Darkshire is an antiquarian bookseller at Sotheran's Rare Books in London. While I greatly enjoyed the book, I was deeply disturbed to read this passage:
"Of all the nice letters I've ever received, the ones I hold particularly close to my heart were sent from a mysterious stranger masquerading as the bookshop-owning angel Aziraphale from the novel Good Omens."
I do not understand why Mr. Darkshire describes me as being "from the novel Good Omens," as though I were some sort of fictional character. Setting that aside, however, it is unnerving to realize that a complete stranger is wandering the streets of London, writing letters and pretending to be me.
I can offer no proof, but I believe that the likely suspects can be narrowed down to a very short list.
A few years ago -- well, I suppose it was actually many years ago -- there was a book called History of New York. It was subsequently revealed that the author of this book, one Diedrich Knickerbocker, did not in fact exist. Perhaps "Mr. Knickerbocker" has moved on from creating fictional personas, and is now hijacking the identity of legitimate booksellers such as myself. (Regular readers will recall that I have previously commented on Mr. Knickerbocker: https://www.aziraphale.com/post/143753123162/a-curious-bit-of-satire-in-an-unvisited-corner-of)
Meanwhile, I have also been informed that there is a man named Buster Poindexter who is notorious for falsifying his identity. I have it on good authority that Mr. Poindexter has openly confessed that he is suffering from a personality crisis. It should also be noted that the name "poindexter" is often used to refer to someone who is enamored of books. Coincidence? I think not.
Another likely suspect -- or possibly "suspects," plural -- is a person or persons going by the name Pratchett Gaiman, or possibly Gaiman Pratchett. Again, I have no proof, but I have lost count of the times someone in the shop has asked me about so-and-so Gaiman or such-and-such Pratchett.
Finally, I cannot completely discount the possibility that my friend Crowley might be playing some sort of elaborate prank. He insists that this is not his doing, but it is just the sort of device that he would employ to rile me. He knows that pranks are anathema to me.

"You're seeing shape-shifters everywhere. Maybe you ought to think about something for a minute. If I was a smart shape-shifter, a really good one, the first thing I would do would be to grab some poor soul off the street, absorb every ounce of his blood, and let it out on cue whenever someone like you tried to test me. Don't you see? There isn't a test that's been created a smart man can't find his way around. You aren't going to catch shape-shifters using some gadget." - Joseph Sisko (Star Trek DS9 - Homefront)
It was never really addressed on screen but Joseph Sisko was later proven right. The original changelings could fake the blood test as was demonstrated when General Martok did the whole knife to the hand thing to prove he was real. But they didn't find out he was a changeling until much later.

Harry F. Gerguson passed himself off as a Russian prince, Michael Romanov, for years. He was ordered deported, but was then released from Ellis Island so he could join a vaudeville act at $500 a week, January 7, 1933.

READ THIS PLEASE
🤍˚ʚ🧸ɞ˚☁️
I don’t have personal pages not listed on www.MayaMorena.com/links
I DO NOT HAVE ANY “BACKUP ACCOUNTS”
I am NOT searching for a husband/boyfriend/friends with benefits/wife/girlfriend, or any meetups, collabs of any kind from any accounts. I am NOT looking for someone to get me a green card or to move in with anyone.
I have not been telling people my real name, address, etc. I do not live and have never traveled outside of the USA. I do not plan to travel outside the US.
I would NEVER send you my DRIVER’S LICENSE! Or any government ID’s of any kind. Anyone sending you an ID with my photo on it sent you a FAKE & PHOTOSHOPPED ID!!! Anyone sending you a photo of me holding a fake ID used AI to generate that fake photo. These fake ID are often very badly photoshopped.
Here are some very common [BASIC] clues:
The letters don’t look right, match or look overwritten
Things are misspelled
The photos they use doesn’t follow government ID photo standards
The IDs are in states I have never visited or lived in ever
The IDs get my birthday and other basic details wrong
My family/parents/siblings are not dead or in the hospital in critical condition. I have no brothers. I am not a cosmetologist. I have a lot of tech for my job. Two gaming computers, webcams, cameras, lighting equipment, 2 TVs, an Iphone, 5 old cellphones, and high speed internet. If someone can’t text you, call you, video chat with you, or doesn’t have a cellphone and needs you to buy them one….IT’S NOT ME!!!!
I live alone and my parents pay my rent. I am not poor and struggling. I am not living in a third world country. I am not on any dating sites, I am not on any escort sites. I do not have a free or public snapchat account.
If you come across this, they are all imposters and scammers. If they tell you otherwise to the effect of: “No, you are the exception, I just created this page for you” it’s a lie.

I've seen a few different people referring to Ro Laren's death as a "fridging" or saying that she was "fridged" etc. It's been bugging me for a while, so I would like to address it because not only does it misrepresent the concept of women in refrigerators but it does a disservice to Ro's character in my mind.
The concept of women in refrigerators came from Gail Simone who noticed a trend of how female superheroes were treated and subsequently killed in comic books after Katma Tui (a female superhero) was pretty unceremoniously sliced up and stuffed into a refrigerator for Hal Jordan (Green Lantern) to find. The brutalization and lack of agency is a huge aspect of women in refrigerators.
"I can't quite shake the feeling that male characters tend to die differently than female ones. The male characters seem to die nobly, as heroes, most often, whereas it's not uncommon, as in Katma Tui's case, for a male character to just come home and find her butchered in the kitchen." -Gail Simone
Generally, a fridged woman not only doesn't have agency in her own death, but the death itself is meaningless to her character development and storyline.
One of Ro Laren's defining character traits is that she is prepared to sacrifice herself, her career, her relationships, her moral certainty to do what she thinks is right. It makes total sense to me that she would be ready to die so Picard could get away.
Another part of Ro's character is her search and struggle for someone to trust and to believe in. A large part of why she betrayed Picard was the old man who reminded her of her father and who probably held beliefs more common to the ones with which she was raised. Her final act being one of trust brings a certain closure for her character that's just hers.
And I thought there was vindication for her. Picard is so far up his own ass about Starfleet, and she's the one who had to bonk him on his head about complete faith in any institution. She was the one bringing one of the major themes of the whole season into clarity because she has always understood the moral complications of war and knows that no side comes out unchanged or untainted.
Anyway, I'm not saying anyone has to like her death or not have a problem with her being brought back just to be killed off, but I very strongly disagree with calling her a fridged woman. Yes, the storyline and Picard's character were advanced because of her death, but that was not the only purpose her death serves.
Thanks for your time!
I will now go back to simping for Vadic.
