One of the worst parts about Trump is that he inspired other Trump like political the run for President abroad. Like the 2017 Brazilian election was like a tela novella version of our 2016 election. Trump was a shitty millionaire who joked about hitting his kid with his car if he found out the son was gay, on stage, and everyone laughed. And if I remember correctly, the main reason he won is because they decided that the Hillary Clinton was not allowed to run from jail.

Just looked it up, their Hillary Clinton (probably not accurate as she was farther left than Hillary pretended to be) was impeached in 2016 and her vice pres, a center right MF took her place. He broke some campaign finance laws and was disqualified, letting Brazilian Trump win. The Vice pres was a lot more like Hillary than the OG pres. And the vice had one of the worst approval ratings in history (7%, with 76% wanting him to resign). Which is wack because Brazil was a military dictatorship for the vast majority of my Mother's childhood. And of course the Trump-like fucked with their healthcare and home prices, and generally fucked with literally everything that was actually working in the country. I believe at one point he proposed selling Petrobras, a Brazilian nationalized gas company, to the highest bidder, after selling several nationalized companies to private interests. Honestly he might have sucked harder than Trump, as he actually defended the military dictatorship multiple times.
