i think one of the best things people who like playing trrpgs could learn from the Seasons of Hieron is that you really don’t need a big complicated backstory for your character to feel like they have a full and complete life and how a simple backstory can improve your play because it makes you focus on what’s happening in the moment rather than constantly thinking about some big grand event that happened off screen that no one else at your table even knows about

Powerscaling is so annoying to me bc it’s just men actively covering their ears to ignore whatever story is being told in favor of screaming abt the dude whose dick they totally don’t wanna suck. Like, no, he doesn’t “no-diff the verse” he’s a c-tier antagonist w a cool design and his narrative role is to get his ass kicked. U can still get on ur knees and throat it that’s perfectly fine let’s just be more honest w ourselves now

potentially a hot take but it is my opinion that open ended, non-linear, exploration-based storytelling in video games is not worth it if it comes at the expense of the story's pacing. If you have a thousand different roads for the player to take but they're all just thrown at the player at once with no rhyme or reason, then no amount of "player agency" is going to make any if them feel satisfying, they now just feel like a chore.

omggg for bojance 36, 29 because i need exposition............ also 27. you know why
Uhh, yessss, I'm very happy to talk more about BoJance!! And yes, obviously I do know why 😂 (sorry for taking so long to answer tho!)
27. Craziest place they had sex?
Since they are three guys, there are a lot of places they have had sex (the studio, the laundry room in their apartment basement pffppfpfpfpf), but I think I'd split it, cause there are varying levels of craziness.
So, BoNace: the gym.
BoJan: a cinema bathroom
Jance: St. Luke's backstage area
And for all three of them together: Kris's flat (don't tell him tho, he'll go crazy). Might not be the most risky or public, but definitely the craziest for them.
29. First date? (Give as much or as little detail)
They spend a lot of time together, even before becoming their power throuple, so it's really gradual, but as soon as they cleared the air and officially started dating, they had a nice little date in a sushi steak club. (I won't tell you where, cause that would be spoilers, but it's probably not where you expect it to be pfpffppf)
36. Who's the more protective?
Ngl, I think they are all very protective, but in different types. If we take it very literal and it's about a situation, then I think Bojan would probably be the first to throw fists if someone said something stupid to either Jan or Nace (especially since he probably wouldn't get taken seriously, cause he do be tiny), but Nace would immediately try to be a mediator (and make absolutely sarcastic and cunty remarks dressed in nice words), while Jan just stares unnervingly without blinking.
But in general, I think Jan might be the most protective one out of the three, cause he manages their socials most of the time and reads all the stuff ppl say about them. And as we know, there are a lot of things being said that are just unnecessarily mean and hurtful even if they are meant as a "joke", especially towards Bojan. So I think he would definitely would try to keep that from both, no need to throw that onto someone who clearly should not be bombarded with hate.
That doesn't mean Nace is less protective tho, since he also doesn't like seeing Bojan (or Jan) sad, cause lets face it, anxious and sad puppy is no fun. But he would definitely deal differently with it than Jan would. So maybe the point of them all being very protective of each other in different ways is still very applicable here, they just have different ways to express it!

The new Zelda is just alright. Wait until it’s on sale or save up some gold points, it’s not worth the full $60.
I was already irritated with the echo mechanic before I even reached the first dungeon. You have to open up the pause menu every time you want to change echoes, which is a rapidly growing list of options. Half of them accomplish pretty much the same thing. It’s like the oot water temple iron boots debacle all over again.
Also the smoothie mechanic is just plain unnecessary. Collecting random foodstuffs and cooking/brewing potions should’ve just stayed in botw/totk, bc it just adds unnecessary bulk imo.

Do you sometimes think that don ridonculous from the hit tv show total drama presents the ridonculous race, should host the aftermaths for total drama if they get an aftermath for season three. Just as cause it sounds funi to me😁
Don Ridonculous and Chris beef it writes itself😊
Anyway hello hello total drama brainrot 👋😁
I think Don Ridonculous Race (we're full-naming him now?) should absolutely be given the chance to host something Total Drama related, be it an Aftermath Show or another spin-off.
We've already seen glimpses of the beef between Chris and Mildred, so adding Don to the mix just Makes Sense, y'know? They could even use a similar storyline to generate beef between the two; Don was originally casted to host the Reboot series, but Chris returned from (prison/holiday/cartoon purgatory) just in time to reprise his original role, leaving Don to host the Aftermath. Both are bitter about the deal- Chris because the executives tried to replace him, and Don because the Aftermath doesn't have as many benefits/as high a wage as hosting the show itself.
Also, I'd love to see how the new cast interacts with Don, who's shown to be a little more sympathetic and a little less bloodthirsty than Chris and Chef. I think Millie especially would appreciate an authority figure who isn't (always) intent on harming or humiliating them. Scary Girl/Lauren would probably hate him for the same reasons, though.
Hello hello, Anon! 👋😁

preferring the first poe1 game to Deadfire is perfectly valid but preferring it bc it has better pacing is wild to me ngl
#brought to you by: saw the eora confessions post and i didn't wanna yuck someone's yum in a reblog#(anon if we run in the same pillars circles and you see this. sorry 🙏🏻 you're fine and i get it but i'm gonna be salty in these tags)#imo while the pacing in both pillars games is not great poe1 is *particularly* bad#also idk maybe me and that anon run in different pillars circles but i def feel like more ppl prefer PoE1 than Deadfire story-wise#which again. wild to me!#the watcher's mental state is rapidly worsening by the day but sure let's run off to stalwart for no reason#or get to the bottom of the endless paths. for no reason.#or spend multiple days or even weeks building up caed nua#for a very cool battle that nonetheless comes out of nowhere#like idk maybe if the game didn't *tell* you where you needed to go to cure the watcher so clearly#or let you do stuff like stalwart or the endless paths *after* defeating thaos it'd be one thing#or even just slowed down the watcher's descent into madness a little. there's a lot of options!#but as is there is so much shit crammed into a story with an *active timebomb* that the characters reference multiple times#like it needs way more connective tissue bc each of these things is legitimately cool but they're just kinda thrown at the player#and it's immersion breaking#it's not great in Deadfire either but at least eothas says stuff like “i'll wait for you” and there's a greater focus on being Ready#i know i've probably said this before. i will say it again 😔 bc it really bugs me about PoE1#that the atmosphere and the characterization and the concepts are so cool and interesting#but it's *massively* bogged down by it's pacing#pillars of eternity critical#<- not sure if that's a tag but i don't wanna add my salt to the main pillars tag#tumblr don't do that thing where you reorganize my tags it's important they stay in order 🙏🏻#marie speaks

Why I think Elain's book needs to be next, regardless of ships
Disclaimer: this is, of course, entirely my opinion, and people are free to think otherwise.
Spoilers: the entire Maasverse is discussed, beware.
I've spoken about this a few times, but never dedicated a post to the topic, so here goes. I'll try to keep it brief, but no promises lol. Please be kind in the comments/reblogs.
To provide a quick overview, the following are the main reasons why I believe Elain needs to star in ACOTAR 5, rather than waiting for the 6th (final?) book. I know that SJM has suggested that further ACOTAR books may be planned, I'm referring to the three novels that are most likely to follow the "Koschei" plot, and not whatever happens afterwards.
A chance to become proficient in her powers before events escalate in the final book
Elain needs to make a mistake
True choice in her romance
The mating bond
The crossover
A chance to become proficient in her powers before events escalate in the final book
Aelin, Feyre, Nesta and Bryce have all had the chance to hone their respective skills before the events in each series came to a head. Aelin in Mistward (and beyond), with Rowan; Feyre trained with Rhys and Cassian; Nesta trained a little with Amren, and then more with Cassian when the Valkyries were reformed in ACOSF (we know they need to keep training as a unit, but the foundations have been laid for this, and the rest could, imo, happen in the background of ACOTAR 5); even Bryce trained with Cormac and Hunt in HOSAB, to learn how to harness their associated powers.
If Elain isn't afforded this opportunity, she will be much less able to work through any of the expected quirks in her powers before her proficiency in them really matters. I suspect she's relied on luck and rage so far, but that will likely only get her so far. Because...
Elain needs to make a mistake
Following on from my first point, each protagonist has - in the course of her training - made some sort of mistake. Aelin couldn't harness her Fae powers until she learnt to shift into her Fae body; she also made plenty of tactical errors throughout the books, notably the end of EOS, though she thankfully came through unscathed. Feyre and Amren almost died in the Summer Court retrieving the Fae half of the Book of Breathings, and she made yet another mistake in Hybern, when she joined the two halves together. Nesta erred in the Prison, when she underestimated the Harp and almost lost Cassian to Lanthys, and she barely survived the Bog of Oorid. And Bryce? There were multiple errors made, such as the events that led her to Prythian.
To clarify, I am not criticising any of these characters for having made these mistakes, because we all have to learn and start somewhere. Rather, I'm saying that if SJM follows this pattern, Elain needs to make a decently sizable mistake in book 5 - will she accidentally set Something or Someone free, if those of us who think she has the ability to traverse the murky realm, or unchain the land are correct? This would set the stage for ACOTAR 6, complete with drastically raised stakes.
True choice in her romance
I know people disagree with this take, but for me, there is no true choice for Elain if there is only one option available to her. This wouldn't be such a big deal if she hadn't shown such displeasure at the existence of her mating bond with Lucien, but seeing as she has - and also considering the "hurt and confusion" that she experienced at Solstice, I would be so disappointed to see Azriel move on first and get his HEA while Elain is left upset. This is not a critique of his character, but I would find it very difficult to believe that she wasn't settling for Lucien if he is the only love interest left to pick.
Aelin chose between Chaol and Rowan, Feyre between Tamlin and Rhys, Nesta between Eris and Cassian, and Bryce between Cormac and Hunt. I - like many others - think the love triangle that we should be focusing on is the one that centres Elain, not Azriel. Will she choose Lucien or Az? We all have our own thoughts, but again, it's only a true choice if there is more than one option.
The mating bond
Picture this: it's 2026 (we hope), we have just finished reading ACOTAR 5, and Elain and Lucien still haven't acted on their mating bond, either way. The hatred that Elain receives now, for simply making her apparent disinterest obvious, or taking the time to decide what she wants (whatever the reason), will get a thousand times worse. I don't want to be around for it, it's bad enough now.
The crossover
I haven't spoken about this before, because when I originally discussed what I've mentioned above in reblogs or on Reddit, the crossover didn't yet exist. But to me, it also plays a part in why I think Elain needs to be a protagonist in ACOTAR 5, and not 6.
The fandom loves to laugh - and I get it, we all expected the Prythian crossover in HOFAS to be more extensive than it was - but many Elriels, myself included, read "roses and bread" at the end of HOSAB and immediately thought of Elain, who has been tied to both roses/gardening and baking bread, and for whose story the phrase "bread and roses" could hold significance, as @psychologynerd has suggested. Obviously, it didn't amount to anything obvious in HOFAS, because SJM appears to have focused on Bryce's underground adventure with Nesta and Azriel in the end, rather than having Bryce spend any time at all in Velaris, but for all of that, I don't think our theories have been proven wrong. They're just in their "watch this space" era.
One of the issues that my fellow Elriels and I discussed before HOFAS came out was that, while many of us have noted how well-suited Elain's powers appear to be for intergalactic travel, be that mentally/spiritually, or even physically (her sisters, too, I think, but this post is focusing on Elain), we didn't think SJM would want to spoil the reveal in a POV that wasn't her own. In the end, we ended up with a lot of Elain-shaped gaps in the plot.
So, knowing that SJM has said that the next book after ACOTAR 5 will likely be revisiting an existing world - many of us think Erilea - and knowing that the precedent has been set for worldwalking, wouldn't it be ridiculous to see Feyre and/or Nesta visit Erilea, but not Elain? They're almost certainly more powerful together, three links like an Archesian amulet. We need to know about Elain's magics simply so such a powerful character - a Cauldron Made Seer who is hinted to have other strengths as well - can be utilised.
It would be such a waste otherwise. Think what you like about Elain personally, but kingdoms would kill for someone with her (hypothetical) skill set.
Anyway, thanks for reading, and once again - if you choose to interact with this post, please remain kind and respectful. 💜

adding on to the finding your style ask:
I have two (or three) distinct styles and I feel like that's wrong somehow? Like, I have this idea that a stylish person has one single distinct style, as you do with your (excellent) vintage vibe. So I'm curious to hear more about how you think about multiple styles. Are you trying to phase out your modern stuff in order to have just one style? When I switch between my styles (one is all-black hipster queer, one is New England preppy, one is queer rock gym/camping guy) I feel like it makes me look flaky or indecisive or immature. But I just can't seem to make a single style out of the outfits I like. Should I just pick one?
And this is to say nothing of the styles I love but never quite feel comfortable in (1920s Cambridge student, Peter Jackson hobbit...)
I'd love to hear your thoughts if you feel like it! :)
I don't think you should have to phase out a style if you don't want to! Wear what makes you feel good. My modern style is full of colorful shirts in fun patterns that I won't be able to find vintage. I love them a lot. But they don't always make me feel good -- the main reason I am pivoting to dress more vintage is because I have learned the fit of most modern shirts/trousers makes me dysphoric.
When I didn't understand that, I just kept buying more clothes, thinking "maybe *this* shirt will fix me". Nope. I loved the vibes, but the cut just kills me. I have a lot of clothes I love more on the hanger than on my body. As I learn to sew, I'd like to bring back the fun colors/patterns in my shirts, to get a little more ostentatious with my tweedy look. But even though I'm slowly merging my wardobe, I still have my own sub-styles. I have my tweedy country vet look, and I have my jeans & plaid flannels I wear constantly, with an old corduroy trucker jacket I love to bits. They are all vintage cuts, but if you were a cartoonist, you wouldn't give them to the same character. But they are absolutely all "me". Everyone is full of "contradictions" and you can happily juggle them. You already seem to have an overarching style, which is that you want to broadcast that you're queer. Your hipster, prep, and camping personas all seem to support what is a core part of your identity -- I don't see them in conflict at all. We all have our own little "uniforms" based on our activities and types of events we attend. And it sounds like you have 3 main wardrobes -- informal, formal, and sport, which is a pretty bog standard way to organize your clothes, imo. Really, the only downsides I see to juggling multiple styles are: closet space, expenses, harder to mix/match outfit pieces. You might come up with some fun remixes, by wearing an accessory/garment of one style with the outfit of another style. It's how I'll often wear Hawaiian style shirts with tweed. Or you might decide to double down within each of your sub-styles, so they become really cohesive. Just do what you enjoy! <3

(I’m a Hispanic woman for context) I can also see fem! Jayce plucking her eyebrows so they don’t look thick, shaving everyday, and straightening her hair everyday even though it’s naturally wavy/curlier (pretty much trying to conform to societal femininity so she’d be taken seriously)
So after being trapped in the arcane, her eyebrows are thicker and her hair is noticeable not straight. Like Jayce, she’s not bogged down by being the golden girl, so she cuts her hair to be the length Jayce has his at the end of the series etc
Oh I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! Yeah a big inspiration for my take on fem!Jayce is this absolutely STUNNING Hispanic woman I have as a colleague, she's always perfect, perfect hair, perfect eyebrows, perfect outfits, perfect makeup, and she has the same complexion and hair as Jayce.
I absolutely agree on the plucked eyebrows to thin them out, I keep emphasizing that at least my vision for fem!Jayce isn't just "Jayce with boobs" like, no, it's about keeping to restrictive gendered beauty standards regardless of presenting as masculine or feminine.
Like, Jayce isn't just a dude, he presents as a very specific kind of clean cut, socially acceptable but still very masculine guy. Fem!Jayce, by contrast, would IMO present as socially acceptable feminine until s/he stopped giving a fuck after the Anomaly Future. Like, no matter how you slice it, a huge part of Jayce's is arc is getting to the moment where he says, "With respect, I don't give a shit what any of you think about me anymore."
So yes yes yes, I absolutely love the image of the long straightened hair, the plucked eyebrows, and I've mentioned before, the perfect makeup, the perfect high society dresses at events with the Talis House sigil emblazoned on it, spending a ton of time getting her appearance right so she is Taken Seriously.
And then, finally, after the Anomaly Future when she'd just focused on saving Viktor (or Viktoria?) and saving the world, fuck it, fuck all of it, she's wearing a widow's black shirt and pants just like male Jayce, she's stopped plucking her eyebrows, there's no makeup, no painted nails (that she once did to hide the soot from the forge), she's cutting her hair short or tying it back and there's no more straightening it, she's wearing armor and she's on a mission and she doesn't give a fuck what anyone thinks about her.

Reading Batman #138 has just confirmed for me that one of the main themes of Zdarksy's run is the line Bruce's loved ones (particularly the Robins) walk between Family and Soldier, and his struggle to separate the two
It's shown pretty plainly from Zdarksy's first Batman comic where Tim gets shot in the throat. In the heat of the moment, Bruce cradles Tim in his arms and calls him 'son', prioritising Tim's safety over evacuating civilians
Tumblr media
But then in the car a couple of pages later, you get these amazingly horrific panels showing Bruce de-costuming Jason and Tim's bodies, referring to them as 'soldiers’
At this point I read his soldier description as almost sarcastically bitter - he clearly hates that ‘the mission' drives him to treat his sons like impersonal soldiers, but he does it anyway
Tumblr media
And this is something Tim completely goes along with - Bruce doesn't even visit him in hospital, but he's back out soon after with a bandage still on his neck. When he's back in the field he has an argument with Batman that with hindsight feels like an obvious set up for Gotham War
Tumblr media
Bruce questions Tim's judgement and berates him for something he did in the field, while Tim says that Batman can't control him
Bruce is, at this point in the story, pre-Zur, and obviously doing this from a place of concern for his son rather than as something more coldly militaristic, but it's still the same type of justification Zur will later use during his fight with the rest of the Bats
Batman #138 is when this turns on his head, when he becomes more drill sergeant than concerned father, where having a son in place of a soldier is a hindrance rather than a gift
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that’s the whole point of Gotham War - a lot of people have been bogged down debating the logic of Selina’s plan, when it was really no more than a MacGuffin to put the Bats’ fault lines on show and illustrate the strain of being a father to your soldiers
And if you’re viewing this with a completely cold, mission-first mentality, then Bruce-as-Zur is kind of right - he’s allowing the rest of the Bats, his soldiers, to essentially mutiny against him because he’s tied to them by his love. Obviously that’s a good thing, he absolutely should care about his children like that, but it objectively makes him weaker
Tying back to Tim getting shot - the most fatherly thing to do in that situation would be to damn their identities, prioritise Tim’s well-being and take him straight into hospital without wasting time with his uniform. That would ruin him as Batman, but it’s still something he considers out of love for his son. Throughout his run and especially in Gotham War, Zdarsky is putting that love to the test and exploring what’s more important to Bruce, justice or family
I could say a lot more about Bruce’s role as a parent (personally, while I do think he can be fatherly, there is something inherently unethical about sending your children to war - him and Batwoman’s dad have a lot in common in that regard imo)
Mostly I just love the fact that Zdarksy’s exploring the complex dynamics between Bruce and his Robins, and I can’t wait to see where he takes it
