i took a colorquiz as last years spoke to me. i didn't know what to expect but thought i would be in a much better position now.

desired objective: to be known for something she has accomplished and use her social abilities to win people over.

i cling onto these words and the echoes of others. that i'm a shell. i'm an empty person.

it is true. i come across others and admire those i find with exceptional personalities. i tend to absorb myself into them taking surface level qualities that i like.

vivienne, the deli clerk at my former job. quiet but held a strong, confident demeanor. tatted around her arms and chest, short brown hair sometimes adorned with ribbon. she dressed in shirts with ripped off shoulders, leopard leggings and clogs. even with minimal clothing she still found a way to dress punk. nigel and i raved about her endlessly. we both tried finding her on the web but she was nowhere to be found.

i came out of that job with an obsession for ribbon and new clogs.

gigi. caught my eye first at the library with her green cadet cap speckled with pins. i then met her at the first day of apparel class. she wore the same hat, green jacket and big brown pants. her eyes were big and bright. i immediately fell in love with her. she asked the instructor many questions and started playing with the sewing machine before we were all given the go. i admired that. many students flocked to her as well. she initiated conversation and drew a small interest to me, sharing her website filled with personal excerpts. her main story was how most of her life she created art but pursued biology, getting a full ride to UW in biochem. she knew she did not want to pursue that and create instead. she dropped out and signed up for apparel class. initially, i thought blogs were corny and for influencers but when she shared that story to me i thought she was brave. she left apparel class deciding to pursue something else but her small presence left a great impression in the friend group, a great impression on me.

i bought 3 cadet caps shortly after and find myself typing in this blog thing... lord.

on top of that i am reliant with the idea that one could fix me.

i rewind and look back. most of the time in school i was daydreaming, fantasizing of another life, with someone that truly loved me. we were madly in love.

being alone i've always felt incomplete. i know now that i don't need someone to complete me but why has it always felt this way. alone i feel powerless.

when i started the apparel class and started making friends i felt that i could accomplish anything.

how can i end this belief?

i talked to oscar about this and said that i shouldn't focus on this being problems. i should focus on how i should fix this. i thought about that.

after shopping for oscar's tux i asked him if i could get my sister's camera i gave to him. he wasn't using it so he agreed. we played the camera for a bit, him trying to get a still shot of me headbanging, jumping in the air, jorge eating a carrot and some shots outside in the dark. i filmed some b-roll on the way home.

i began to think of something to film other than my trip to the philippines.

i began thinking of my thoughts of being infatuated with other people and their extraordinary qualities. grouping them together, they all seemed strong, and confident. they pursued something impractical. i decided i wanted interview gigi about her story and her journey to being a multidisciplinary artist. i can use this energy i have in a healthy way by actually getting to know her instead of creating this ideal image. i can also create a film which is something i've been wanting to do.

my plan is i'm going to start filming jaerlene since she is pursuing filmmaking and doing a lovely job at it. i'm going to interview her. and make a film first. that way i can practice and get guidance from her.

i'm so excited and hope to finish this project!

Disappearance

“Your Majesty, you have a guest, a young man, waiting for you in your study.”

“A guest? Did I have a meeting planned for today?”

“No, but he apologies for the short notice. Said he wants to ask you about an old friend of yours. A spirit?”

At this Rapunzel gasped.

A secret that only a few knew.

“Thank you, Nigel. I’ll take my leave and wish not to be disturbed unless I call for it.”

The older man nodded and left.

Rapunzel felt nervous.

Who was this guest?

How did he know about her friendship with…

She stood outside her study.

She let out a breath of air before opening the door.

The air in her study felt...different.

As if a darkness hung in the air.

Ignoring the feeling, she looked about the room and found her guest with his back to her and looking out the window.

“If you don’t mind me saying, your Majesty, but your husband is something else.”

“What is he doing this time?”

“Sword fighting...with a horse.”

Rapunzel then let out a small laugh.

“They’re just practicing.”

“Still, in all my years, I’ve never seen a man and a horse sword fight.”

He then turned to face and Rapunzel gasped.

His eyes were as red as blood and he looked just like…

He then chuckled quietly.

“I see you’ve noticed and I guess the rumors are true.”

“R-Rumors?”

“I’m sorry, I never introduced myself. My name is James Overland and I hope my German is understandable.”

He bowed low.

“Your G-German is fine but...rumors?”

“Right, you talk to spirits. Or maybe a certain winter spirit?”

Rapunzel straightened herself out, tucked her long brown hair behind her ears, and stood tall.

He seemed nice but the dark feeling in the room made the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end.

“Why do you look like him?”

“From what I know, he has no memory of his human life so he wouldn’t’ve mentioned me but I am his brother. His twin to be exact.”

Rapunzel was surprised.

Was he telling the truth?

He looked just like him, save for the red eyes and black hair.

“How are you able to see him?”

“I’ve known him most of my life. He told me when I was young that one had to believe in him to see him. For a time, I thought it was my belief in him that let me see him but when I got old and left my tower, I thought that maybe it was my power that let me see him.”

“Power?”

“I once carried the power of the Sundrop within me. It’s been over a year since I lost it.”

“You lost it? Then how can you still see him?”

“I don’t know. Maybe there still is some magic in me or it is belief.”

James chuckled but without humor.

“I can see and hear him but he can’t see or hear me unfortunately and I have been searching for a way to fix that. Has he told you anything about how he came to be? How he got his powers?”

He stepped closer to Rapunzel and she unconsciously stepped back.

He was scaring her but she didn’t know why.

She glanced down at the ground and noticed his shadow.

It flickered for a second and she saw a most terrifying sight.

His shadow had pure red eyes and a large grin filled with sharp teeth.

She looked away and back at James but she swore she heard a faint but evil laugh.

James seemed not to notice the dark in the air or the laugh.

“He never told me.”

That was a lie and she was not proud of herself for it.

Something about him was now scaring her.

“I see. Thank you for your time, Your Majesty.”

He bowed again left through the door behind her.

The second the door clicked shut, she felt like she could breathe again.

She dropped to her knees and wrapped her arms around her chest.

She was just so scared of him.

James...what was he?

Suddenly, she startled by a knocking coming from the window.

Looking up, she let out a relieved smile.

It was him!

His smile brightened what darkness was left in the room.

She stood up, rushed over to the window, and let him in.

“Heya, Rapunzel! How’s everything?”

“Better now that you’re here,” she whispered as she wrapped her arms around him. She just wanted to hold onto him.

“Hey, are you okay? If you want, I can get Eugene.”

She shook her head.

“No, this is about you. Do you know a young man named James?”

“Can’t say I do.”

“He knows of you though. I want to warn you though. He looks just like you but has red eyes and black hair.”

She then told him what had happened just before his arrival.

“He can see me but I can’t see him?”

“I don’t know what he is planning but I want you to be careful. He didn’t seem evil but there was just this dark air about him..”

“Don’t worry, I promise that nothing will happen to you or me.”

He gave her one last hug before backing towards the window.

“I just came for a quick visit. Sorry I couldn’t stay longer. You’ll see me in the winter though!”

“Thank you.”

“She’s lying to you!”

“Of course she is! She wants to protect him and doesn’t trust me!”

“Go back in there and demand that she tells you what she knows!”

“And risk being banished from the kingdom or worse, beheaded? I don’t think so!”

“She’s too nice to behead anyone. Go to France if you want a beheading.”

“She knows something...but to get it out of her?”

“You have an idea, don’t you?”

Nights were almost always peaceful in Corona.

Save for the occasional explosion from Varian’s workshop.

That night though would be the last peaceful one in a long long time.

Stepping out of the shadows, James looked down at the sleeping Queen and her husband.

Lightly, James drew a temporary rune on his forehead that wouldn’t allow him to move for a set period of time or until someone whipped it away.

Next, James gently placed his finger on the Queen’s forehead and closed his eyes.

He could see every one of her memories flash before him.

Just need to find the right memory.

“Where did you come from, J…”

He was close!

He could almost hear his name!

He saw a much younger Queen sitting on a windowsill and him sitting next to her.

“My earliest memory is waking up in a lake and seeing-”

The image then vanished as he heard the Queen wake and gasp.

He quickly opened his eyes and covered her mouth with his hand.

Her jostling woke her husband but, thanks to the rune, could do nothing but yell.

Thinking fast, James muttered a spell that put the Queen to sleep.

He then heaved her over his shoulder and stepped back.

“Bring her back!”

James could see tears rolling down his cheeks.

“I’m sorry.”

He then disappeared into the shadows with the Queen in tow.

“The memory! It’s gone!”

James wanted to scream.

He wanted to break things again.

He was so close this time.

He almost had it in his hands!

The plan was simple!

Find the memory and leave!

The kidnapping was the ditch plan.

He didn’t want to but it had to be done.

And now it was gone thanks to him!

“I couldn’t’ve said the spell wrong, did I?”

“Where...am I?”

The sleeping spell was wearing off.

James had to think fast.

“You’re in my caravan. I found you unconscious outside. Do you remember anything?”

She was quiet for a moment before her green eyes filled with fear.

“I can’t remember anything! Not even who I am!”

James cursed to himself.

He couldn’t bring the Queen back with no memory!

“You can stay with me until you get your memory back. We should give you a temporary name for now though. How about...Emily?”
