Please be careful sharing requests for money. I'm seeing more and more people falling victim to predatory asks.

Some things to consider:

Mistagging an ask for donations with fandom tags that have nothing to do with it goes against Tumblr ToS. Tags are filling up with tragic stories that are irrelevant to those tags. Whether they're real or fake, no one should be jumpscared by tragedy. Tag appropriately.

Sharing a con only emboldens more con artists to do the same thing. It also marks you as gullible, and your url could get picked up more bots trying to squeeze you for sympathy and cash.

Posting a request for donations without verifying and donating yourself is not activism. It's irresponsible to your followers/mutuals and only helps the scammers.

I've received at least twenty different requests in the past week alone. They come in batches, a few within minutes of each other, not organically like humans would send. Most of them are worded differently, but some have been worded identically, even though they come from separate named blogs. These are not real people.

If you see an adult ask a child they don't know for help, be suspicious. An adult should never need to ask a child to take on some sudden responsibility. They're after something else, and they're just trying to gain trust first. So I'm suspicious when I see a sudden influx of supposed asks for help and money coming to tiny little Tumblr blogs. This is Tumblr. No one here has money, or reach. We don't do that here.

These tragic asks in your inbox are a scam. Report it as spam - because it is spam - delete it, and move on with your day.

Why are vetted accounts sending people stuff like this.

I mean it's clearly copy-pasted and sent to multiple people but this isn't even a donations ask. Imma guess the reason people aren't responding is because you're accusing them of not doing enough for Palestine and sending it to multiple people who you clearly don't check because I've been posting about and for Palestine since oct 7th when I learned about it.

Also yes he is looking for donations, you can check his account and find it. Why are you sending this guilt trippy stuff to people and accusing them of not caring enough? You don't know me? You send these to multiple people so your clearly not checking the account in question. This dose nothing to help you personally or the Palestinian cause, it just pisses people off and makes them question vetters.

The James Somerton thing really is showing the sexism that still exists in the online essayist space in that, as far as I can tell while people are rightfully PISSED at Somerton they seem to have taken Hbomberguy's warning to not harass people to heart (now yes this is helped that Somerton basically left the internet) meanwhile I can think of NUMEROUS QUEER WOMEN in the online essayist space who did things far less severe than Somerton (maybe said something bad a while ago or associated with someone who turned out to not be a good person as opposed to plagiarism and what can be considered financial fraud!! ) and were either chased off/nearly chased off their platform and repeatedly harassed, threatened and suicide baited.

i found a book abt the anti lawn movement at the library & decided to sit out in my yard & read it. but ironically there was a neverending barage of power tool noises making it difficult to focus. so i walked to a nature park near me in order to escape the dreaded sounds. almost stopped at the mowed picnic table area bc i hate walking but fortunately pushed forward and made myself walk up an annoying hill to an area that is a preservation of a native oak savanna & sat down against a tree near the edge of the path & did my reading there. and honest to god that was a 100/10 experience. there was something so powerful abt being in a preserve for a locally native habitat while reading abt the impacts homeowners can have on native plant preservation! it powered up my energy towards my life mission (evangelize abt enviormentally sustainable gardening to every single person who comes within a 10 ft radius of me) by like. 15 points. also a deer walked up to me and that was super cool

I basically gave up on everything when I was around 13 and stopped trying in school, even though I really enjoyed learning and had a genuine passion for a lot of it. I love doing literary analysis, I love reading, I love history, I love languages. I passed high-school through some miracle. I slept through most of my classes, showed up late, intentionally coaxed chatty teachers to spend all lesson airing their personal life to the class instead of doing work so I could sit in the corner and draw instead, I never did any work. I just gave up.

for some reason though, I've been tempted to try again, and study history in university. But if I want to do that, I would have to go back into education for 1/2 years, bust my ass trying to get a good grade, and then study at university for 4 years. I don't know if it's worth it but like. I do enjoy history. I do enjoy literature. I can't make music my job unless I get extremely lucky, and I don't want to spend my life working a boring dead end retail job because I gave up when I was 13

but God, it would be so much effort, and I'm so tired...

effort feels like so much. I have to fight to get out of bed every day because I feel so miserable and awful all of the time. I have no attention span and I'm terrible at communication. I struggle to engage in basic conversations with people, even if it's something i'm interested in, because my anxiety is too bad. I don't know if I'm even capable of doing anything anymore, or if I've grown too stupid to ever make anything good of myself. I feel like such a waste of space and potential.

I like f/m skk ships when done right. Gender and sexuality is fluid as fuck but people who come at queer artists and writers for making seemingly cis art or writing m/f aus of ships are imo major red flags.
