something I really dont get, when a chracter whose gender identity is a lil ambiguous gets headcanoned as a trans man or nonbinary or even gnc by some people, and then a bunch of other people get all up in arms about how theyre trying to erase a strong female character and “just let them be a woman you misogynist” and shit like that and Im like.
Why do they specifically have to be a cis woman for their story to resonate with you?
now im not transmasculine but I know a lot of transmasculine people have experienced a lot of the same shit a lot of women have to deal with, because the overarching powers of the world we live in dont want to recognize them as anything other than women as well. Transmasc people do have to deal with mysogyny, with pressure to just be feminine in a “normal” way, with threats against their ability to control their own reproduction, with people trying to squash them into a restrictive little box and control every aspect of their lives, with threats of violence if they deviate.
I dont want to insinuate its all exactly the same, transmasculine people obviously have their own specific contexts for it, but like, it fucking resonantes, doesn’t it? Do you really see nothing to relate to? Does all of that extremely recognizeable bullshit just… not count anymore when it’s happening to a dude? We dont have a monopoly on this, it happens to trans guys all the time. Hell it happens to a lot of cis dudes! And transfeminine people! Most people actually! so many fuckin’ people are effected by sexist heteronormative fuckery, and I think its kinda messed up that the only time you can empathize with it in another person is when they look and act exactly like you.

jsyk there's been an update on nex's pronouns and it's been said they actually preferred he/him pronouns, although people did use they/them for him. (https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-news/vigil-friends-remember-nex-benedict-fiery-kid-rcna140440)
Thank you for telling me! I'm also glad to see an interview with friends of Nex. Its good to see people remembering his life.

when i see people against using the term transandrophobia its all "just men trying to steal the spotlight from women again" "trans men just keep bandwagoning on things trans women are already doing" "they dont experience things as badly as trans women do" "terfs focus more on trans women so we should be talking just about that" "theyre just using this to say that TRANS WOMEN are their opressors!! its just transmisogyny!" "a bunch of TME people and theyfabs trying to say they have it worse"
then i see people that actually talk about transandrophobia and theyre just. in their own communities discussing the problems they face, trying to get people to not completely ignore their issues, and that they deserve to be treated decently and not as evil or that theyve become worse or betraying women for transitioning into their proper gender.
i think yall who hate these discussions are just falling into queer terminology discourse and oppression olympics and infighting (and radfem juice for sure), all of which we say again and again does nothing but help people that want all of us dead. this shit is stupid as fuck

idk i feel like people who aren't intersex shouldn't have the loudest voices in saying how intersex people can identify. I'm sorry but lived experiences should be taken over what someone decided after looking at you when you were born, every time. And being intersex makes your lived experiences complicated as fuck. It's usually worst coming from perisex people, but even as another intersex person you Do Not Get to decide on how other intersex people identify with themselves based off of their lived experiences.

"girls support girls-" okay but are you normal about queer women? are you normal about BIWOC? are you normal about disabled women? are you normal about autistic women? are you normal about fat women? alternative women? unattractive women? are you normal about women who choose not to shave their legs and armpits and faces? are you normal about butches and tomboys and masculine women? are you normal about trans women? are you normal about trans men? are you normal about nonbinary folk and people who lie outside the gender binary or renounce gender all together? are you normal about women who absolutely despise and detest the latest trends? are you normal about weird women who unsettle you with their interests? are you normal about women who don't wear makeup, who will never wear makeup, who openly dislike makeup and the makeup industry?

"This historical figure who was born as a woman and lived the rest of her life as a man isnt transgender and shes not a man she was an oppressed woman who pretended to be a man in order to pursue her dreams under intense patriarchy" listen i understand what the line of logic here is and i know that applying modern labels to figures who lived and died before these words and concepts were invented or popularized is a dangerous game but if this dude not only lived his life as a man but insisted that he be referred to as a man and went off on people who misgendered him and had an entire love life where all of his lovers would also refer to him as a man and was adamant that his body not be examined postmortem as so not to be retroactively defined by his genitals and wished to still be recognized as a man after his death i feel like at the very least you could respect his wishes to be referred to and seen as a man and leave the 'born female' thing to be an interesting tidbit at most instead of the fact about him you parade around

anyways i love you people that are both gay and straight, in whatever way that presents. being nonbinary often can mean a complicated relationship to sexuality and how one perceives it within the societal restrictions of homo and heterosexual, and i think bridging those definitions and having "contradictory" labels like lesboy or whatever is really cool. i support and stan he/him lesbians or butch lesbians or she/her gay men or femme gays or she/he pronoun users and whatever else, be it cis or trans or both. if you feel like youre both cis and trans that also rocks. dont let people force you back into a binary within the queer community, stay strong!
