It's good to be critical, but I just had to block someone who decided to shit over BG3 and the BG3 fandom because they enjoyed Veilguard and didn't like any of the criticisms.

Alright, we need to have a little chat about Dutch van der Linde and some of the truly bizarre discourse I’ve come across here recently. If you’re someone who ships Arthur and Dutch, that’s your business. Enjoy what you enjoy. But—and it’s a big but—if you’re going to ship them and simultaneously argue that Dutch isn’t narcissistic or manipulative, I’m going to need you to take several seats.

I just stumbled across a post where someone was upset about how the fandom "dogpiles" on Dutch because "he’s only human, and humans make mistakes." Fair enough, I thought—everyone is entitled to their perspective. But then I got curious and looked into their blog and realized this same person is reposting Arthur x Dutch dub-con content like it’s a casual Tuesday. Look, read whatever you want, it’s your life—but you can’t sit here and preach empathy for Dutch while simultaneously engaging with material that explicitly highlights his manipulative nature.

This kind of double standard? It's exhausting.

Dutch van der Linde is one of the most unique characters in Rdr2. He’s charismatic, intelligent, and passionate—qualities that draw people to him, including the members of his gang. But he’s also deeply narcissistic, manipulative, and utterly incapable of taking responsibility for his actions. These traits are the very foundation of his downfall, and they’re written so clearly into his character arc that it’s impossible to miss.

Dutch weaponizes loyalty. He preys on the vulnerabilities of people who trust him, especially Arthur and John. He creates an illusion of a "better world" to justify his increasingly erratic and self-serving decisions, all while framing himself as the misunderstood hero of his own story. This isn’t slander; it’s canon.

So when a big portion of the fandom calls Dutch out for being manipulative, it’s not because we’re "ignoring his humanity." It’s because we’re recognizing that his humanity is deeply flawed. That’s the point. You can empathize with his complexities without excusing his actions or demanding others do the same.

It’s wonderful that more people are discovering the game. Seriously, welcome aboard! The more people who experience this masterpiece, the better. But if you’re new here, take a moment to read the room. Dive into the rich narrative, explore the characters, and engage with the fandom thoughtfully. Don’t come in hot with takes like “disliking Dutch is ableist” or accusing people of lacking empathy for pointing out his glaring flaws. Not only does it derail meaningful conversations, but it also alienates people who are here to discuss the complexities of these characters in good faith.

Also, using heavy terms like "ableism" in a context that doesn’t apply? That’s not it. Critiquing a character’s actions isn’t an attack on their humanity—it’s an acknowledgment of it. Let’s save those terms for situations where they’re actually relevant, not for defending fictional characters.

Enjoy the content you like, ship the pairings that make you happy, but don’t expect people to turn a blind eye to Dutch’s faults just because you’ve decided to romanticize him. The beauty of Red Dead lies in its ability to spark debates about morality, loyalty, and the gray areas of human nature. Let’s not dilute that by refusing to acknowledge the darker sides of certain characters.

And for the love of all things, let’s stop accusing people of lacking empathy for engaging critically with the narrative. There’s a difference between analyzing a character and trashing them, and most of the fandom is doing the former.

FIRE EMBLEM FYI: Specifically for 3Houses/3Hopes because I need a separate one for this franchise specificially given how many crazy things I got due to being involved in this fanbase via my fanworks:

DO NOT try to convince me to like or tolerate Byleth/student ships, ESPECIALLY the ones with the lords (aka CIaude, Dimitri, EdeIgard). I already summarized why I don’t like FE3H Byleth ships with student chars here. While the spinoff game FEW3H has now removed that teacher/student problematic situation, the fandom keeps putting the FE3H elements into the FEW3H fanworks (i.e. remembering Byleth from “another life” trope)...so no thanks!! DO NOT SHOW ME IT!!!

As for the Byleth ships with faculty members, my response is here so don’t try to bait me about that topic either thanks.

I do not care whom you ingame S-support. 3Houses limits the dating-sim part of the game to that character, so I cannot care less about how you play the game. The main issue I have is when people treat Byleth the “character” as a legit ship material when I personally think they are a cool character ruined by fans who are too obsessed with badly executed self insert otome tropes bc they self-project super hard onto them. Just to be clear, any FE3H or FEW3H OC/Canon >>>>>>Byleth ships personally. Even Byleth-sonas that remove the teacher/student aspects are better than canon FE3H!Byleth

Feel free to ignore if you don't want to talk about it (since I know folks have been super weird to you about gaming), but I'm really curious what build you went for in Disco Elysium, since, at least in my experience, it REALLY colors the information you get about the world (and also how the game flows).

Hey anon! I am happy to talk about it. I'll give you the build and then, honestly, I'm going to give a rundown of The Weirdnesses since talking around them is probably making shit more confusing. I may have even done this before or I may have drafted it and deleted it. I honestly do not recall, and it doesn't hurt to repeat.

I went with thinker, in a move surprising no one who has been subjected to my "never dump intelligence when you can dump wisdom" rants about D&D. I want to know what's going on; this has made progress slow in a few places due to the mediocre physical stats/horrifically bad psyche stats, and also it means my available health and morale are garbage, however, I do not care because I want to know what's going on. It does mean I haven't been able to get through several doors, however.

Anyway re: video games. This isn't unique to them but I think bc I am up to date on Critical Role this just doesn't happen much, but anyway two things are going on.

the overfamiliarity problem. I mean this so seriously: If we have not interacted recently and/or frequently (or uh. at all) saying shit like "I'm so excited for you to be playing this game!" is actually deeply off-putting to me. I am sure it is INTENDED to be friendly, and so I usually quietly delete comments or hide reblogs instead of blocking, but it really is like...this is a normal thing for casual acquaintances to say and it's fucking weird for strangers to say. like the posts if you like them! reblog them! Even "oh it's a fun game, enjoy yourself!" is fine by me. But like, something about "I'm excited for you" or talking about your own experience when I do not fucking know you makes my skin crawl.

Like many people I have a number of hangups about using leisure time for leisure instead of productivity, or even using leisure time for a leisure activity like video games specifically, which are both time consuming and, while very enjoyable and imo rewarding, do not have the same cultural cache as books nor the finished products as crafts, nor the ability to simultaneously clean your kitchen or crochet as podcasts or TV/movies. I've found from some conversations with friends that I have...more than average hangups, and that's a conversation I do genuinely intend to have in like. a therapy setting. and I'll leave it at that. But anyway to that point feeling like I am having demands put on me, even something as vague and well-intentioned as "I'm excited to hear your thoughts!" or "do you think you'll do another run" before I've independently formulated said thoughts/done another run kicks in a whole bunch of contrarian and also "why are you giving me a fucking TASK related to this when I already had to manually override seventeen warning lights to get to the point of doing something purely for fun and for myself" instincts. (This is also a factor in why I'm extremely sensitive to any spoilers; even "oh you'll have fun when you meet Bob" sets my brain into "well now you can't focus on anything until you meet Bob, obviously, all that matters is finding Bob" mode, which may fuck up my experience until I meet Bob. It's not all the time, depending on the nature of the spoiler and the work and my own ability to be like hey. brain. stop. But it is sometimes, and given that there's very valid reasons to avoid spoilers anyway, such as "random stranger on Tumblr usually does not reveal them in a way that feels nearly as rewarding as the work itself" I am spoiler averse.) Really, when it comes to me exploring video games, or life, one must treat me as a shelter cat or a toddler: I gotta do it myself, let me figure it out myself, only stop me if I'm going to like, fall down a flight of stairs or chew on a lamp cord. And honestly? I think this is a good way to treat everyone who is getting into something you like unless they ask you for advice.

ANYWAY mortifying ordeal of being very slightly known/lecture on how to welcome the independent to a fault and perhaps beyond that into your fandoms aside, asking about what I've already done? 100% ok, do not worry about doing this, just make sure from my posts it is indeed a thing I've already done.

The reason why he wished death on a comic book writer was because the satanically evil boogiestans were harassing & doxing his friend who had cancer. You know the old saying, 2 wrongs don't make it right. This isn't the only toxicity thing he has done & I got several evidence to show below.

What do I think about him?

He has a habit of blocking anyone over the most pettiest things (I.E. Anyone using the term, Mobius, being told to calm down, people liking transgender Bridget, people liking SnapCube & Team 4 Star (he also wants them banned over it), etc.).

He constantly relies on ad-hominem attacks & vulgar insults whenever he talks to anyone he doesn't agree with, either directly or behind their backs by screenshotting their posts then posting them in his clique chamber to complain about it or both.

He's got this obnoxious Anti-WokeTuber vibes going on despite claiming to be against bigotry.

He gets easily butthurt over people enjoying any non-gaming media or anything in general of not just Sonic, but also Kirby, Castlevania, Dragon Ball, TMNT, & more as well.

He's a massive hypocrite, like for example, he hates anyone making & enjoying non-canon Sonic material while he's faving/making rule 34 fan art & fan fics involving sonic characters voring each other or any other fetishy things (which are also non-canon material).

If you're wondering if I'm aware about his certain questionable fan fics & favs, I knew already cuz I was the one that caused a chain-reaction on Twitter in the first place by randomly DMing some one rando about it & I honestly wish they shouldn't bring it up whenever they argue with said fox. If you want me to talk about what I think of this Dwai guy nowadays, maybe, but not right now.

How do you think I found out? I just googled the username, checkout their account on some furry site, & went to their profile from some controversial bunny site that's publicly shown on their profile bio out of morbid curiosity. Before you ask, I don't have an account on that controversial bunny site & never will.

My reaction to said content on there was disgust & uncomfortable. I hardly engage with those UCP addict types cuz they're not the most pleasant people to talk to & they're always predictable.

Did you know that he was banned on Twitter seven times, plus all tweets made before 2023 aren't searchable & apparently his first 6 bans had something to do with involvement with you know what? If you're morbidly curious about it, examples here. Remember, don't waste your time trying to argue about it.

The more I see toxicity from him, the more I having trust issues increased & regret making an apology to him, to a point where I think he's too FUBAR to deal with.

I don't know why someone would look at my art and think of children. It feels extremely gross to hear that. It really does.

I feel the need to point out that my main inspiration is our beloved Ultraman, mostly Ultraman Tiga (face, big eyes and alien-like features) and Kamen Rider GEATS (helmet, eyes, armor) and the very talented Shane Glines (shapes and bodies).

Fashion dolls and dress-up games as well.

It's an odd thing to say when there are art styles that have similar approaches (Scott Pilgrim, Panty and Stocking, Jucika, and Betty Boop, all inspirations as well).

If the problem is that they look "distorted" compared to Ratchet, I'm just not an expert at drawing. I only draw for fun and I'm still practicing.

I just see that retro cartoon pin-up women have fluid and sexy shapes and that characters like Rodimus and Drift would be fun to draw in that similar style, given how curvy their designs are.

I loved how Transformers characters are free from the usual concepts of sex and gender. There were male presenting characters with wide hips and female characters with blocky frames. Some of them even had struggles with their bodies that I could relate with.

I wanted to take advantage of the fact that I found characters I could deeply connect with that happened to be male and had faces i find attractive along w curvy frames that would be fun for me to draw.

Drawing male characters that shape the way women were usually portrayed in the cartoons I grew up with made me more comfortable and feel in control of my body. I know not many will understand. I grew up in a way that made me be ashamed of my sexuality and hate my body because of trauma and dysphoria. It was terrible.

I just wanted to take an art style that I love and grew up with into something I feel like drawing: Sexy robots. That's all.

I see some people hate my art for that and that's fine. They don't need to like it.

If anyone still feels like they look like children, please just block my account for both of our sakes. P*dos ruined my life and I don't want anyone joking about my art like that.

Can I ask for your opinion on people comparing sanders sides to iris/Jacksepticeye’s egos when it comes to the wait time and how the stories have been handled? I’ve seen some discussion on people comparing both from that angle, and would be curious to know if you have any thoughts on that.

And yeah, I’ll talk about this a bit. As long as this is coming from a view to discuss and think reasonably and rationally and not a view of pure, burning, blind rage just cause. (Also, this is going to be long because I have a lot to say)

Personally, I have no problem with the wait from either creator. I can consume other forms of media for the time being. I enjoy their content greatly, and I dabble in artworks and fanfictions while I wait, but I’m not reliant. And it's not like these people are creating nothing. They still have other stuff for us to enjoy. Like Jack’s gaming content or Thomas’s shorts or videos with Sleep or the star signs or the planets. Hell, Thomas is working on a video for Picani right now!

Also, people don’t realize that these things take a long time. They both have to go to places, set up equipment, record multiple takes, and repeat since both of them deal with multiple characters. And then the whole thing has to be spliced together and edited to make a coherent story. And of course, Thomas is going to take longer because he’s doing more. Yes, Jack has to add glitchy effects to his editing, but Thomas is literally making music for us to consume and enjoy. Do you know how long it takes to make music? That adds more writing, more editing, background music production, and more recording on top of the stuff he already has to do.

And both come from small teams of people with a lot of things to do, so it's going to be expected when things take a while to come out.

The stories, on the other hand, I find a weird thing to compare (if they are being compared, I haven’t seen anything since I blocked the tag.) They are completely different genres after all. Thomas’s series is supposed to be more feel-good mental health help, with a hint of drama. (That, naturally, is gonna take more research.) Jack is making an analog horror. Things are going to be different. Also, Jack is just starting his series! He had to pause production because of COVID and just finished his video with Chase that he wanted to finish in 2019! We shouldn’t compare apples to oranges, but we definitely shouldn’t compare when one of the fruit isn’t even ripe yet.

Lastly, I find it weird to compare these people at all. Why? Because they’re people. It's like not going to college and then your mom going “Your brother went to college, you know.” We shouldn’t compare Thomas to Sean because Thomas isn’t Sean. People go at things at their own pace. People have their own personal struggles to deal with. And these people are people, not a content farm for you to throw your rotten tomatoes at whenever you feel.

And I’m not saying you have to like these people, I just think other factors go into both series that people don’t consider. Like personal struggles or where they live. (Not to get political, but Florida is kinda a shithole right now. Stay safe if you live in that part ❤️)

10 Years In And My Biggest Mistake As a Writer

I let my writing fear the void all of me is terrified of.

This isn't going to be a fun one about cancelled works or bad ideas. This is your reminder that I've been a writer for ten years. I've been in therapy for 8 3/4s and depressed for roughly half a year before that. But if I look upon the failures of me as a writer, especially with how I am now, it's kind of impossible to ignore.

I fear silence in all things. I compulsively check everywhere I post when I post because my brain is terrified of having done something wrong. For this to be when I lose everything because of a mistake. It perceives everything I do as a mistake waiting to collapse in on itself. I have Avoidant Personality Disorder and that's just kind of a part of that. I am a MUCH more scared person than I probably come across as in these blogs.

With my writing though... The only fanfics I've written since getting on Ao3, with the exception of one I want to convert still, I haven't posted are because I have to brace myself when I post my works and for these works, I just never found the strength despite liking them. It was so bad at one point that I would be in essentially meltdown mode for an entire day after posting something because of the standards my brain had for what should be a success. What even could be a success. What meant that the work had not been thrown into the void.

What meant the time had not been a waste and only done more damage. And yes, this has affected my content. I've talked in my Discord about how it's MUCH harder for me to even consider writing erotica because that's not the audience I have. I know if I made a big erotic work again and was really open about it, pushed it like my other books, I would lose a not insignificant amount of people with 'NSFW DNI' in their bios. The silence I'd get is almost as terrifying as the backlash I'd potentially get, even if I have ALWAYS had this twin nature to my writing.

So how do I ever fight that? Well... Essentially with manic energy. I have described most of my books as having been written in sprints. These periods where an idea is so strong in my head that it fills the void. I don't hear it because ALL of my being needs to be working on the project. I have trouble doing literally anything else and just work and work until the story is done. Of course, any crack during these time periods becomes MUCH worse as it's holding back the void, not eliminating it. My worst nights always come when I'm manic.

And in terms of my analytical blogs, well... There's a reason I do TOH mostly. I can get emotional enough talking about TOH that even if it doesn't always come across in the blog, that annoyance and anger manages to block out the void as well. To help me remember that I know what I'm talking about and can do something with that fact, just like I know I'm a good writer who people enjoy when my inspiration for a story takes hold. But have you ever wondered why I don't do more blogs for Star Rail? I just feel so much more uncertain, for a lot of reasons, when it comes to my opinions with that game and don't usually have the fervor to help coalesce those into something more concrete or strong enough to get on the page without panicking and shelving it.

And I want to make something clear about all of this: It is good to understand your audience. It's good to be open and inviting to criticism so as to make yourself better at what you do. You shouldn't let that make you afraid to do what you want to do. You should meet your creative passions with the enthusiasm of a fanfic writer just wanting to explore the thing they love, regardless of reaction or attention or reward. You should be happy to be cringe in your creation as that will set you free.

I just wish I knew how to make it so my mind could accept that wisdom instead of saying, "Okay but not for you."

This game - that’s for fun - is none of their business. They could just move on but they don’t, because they like that you engage. People acting like you have no right to release this game, as if your version hasn’t already been out there and available for literal years now is so funny. (Not to mention you’ve got permission from the og maker). Ppl don’t realize too that HetaOni itself is based off a preexisting game called AoOni. Is that a rip off? No. It’s a fan adaption. Your version is the only playable version of the English translation too.

Where were these haters before? The anon hate is only here because your game got popular again when you announced the remaster and they’re seeing an easy target to get attention, even if it’s behind an anon mask.

Literally stop spending time addressing every negative comment and just work on the game at your leisure. You’ll find the hateful messages lessen when you just don’t answer them. 95% of them are trolls and the other 5% offer genuine criticism. Just care about that 5% if you want to address criticism. Otherwise, just delete the hateful asks. There’s nothing you or anyone else can say to them that hasn’t been said a million times. They just like being noticed.

Also: those sprites and other resources exist online already because they were…*check notes* posted with the intention they would be downloaded and free to use! Wow!! RPG Maker has always been the beginners guide to coding a game. That’s why there are so many resources online for these downloadable sprites, graphics, etc. Google it, ppl.

The hate is really stupid. What I'm working on, as a friend said, is a fangame of a fangame. I can literally do whatever I want lmao if people don't like it all they have to do is not play or follow it. Simple as that.

Working this game on RPG maker is not only the only way I can do this, but also is a homage to the original one that was made in an earlier version of the software. Of course I'd go down the same path. I'm not some coding specialist or whatever, I'm just another fan working on another fan project.

And yeah, I know. I already blocked a lot of people and turned off anon. The thing about not responding to them is that they'll keep talking shit behind my back and that's not something I really enjoy knowing about. DELETING PPL OFF FACEBOOK (Part 2)

I don’t cull people off Facebook that often, I’ve had the same people on my Facebook friends list for years. I only delete people if they have Facebook but never use it, they ignore me for a long duration of time, they have bullied or abused me (they are toxic)… DELETE.

                There are times I block people, but I don’t go to that extreme unless someone is harassing me or toxic. If I delete someone, I don’t automatically block them.

                Judy, was looking at my mum’s Facebook account and she noticed how many Facebook friends she had. I said, ‘she never deletes people’. My mum rarely used Facebook when she first got it and when she was working. She used to only go on it once a week or something and then log off. She only started using it more after she retired. My mum didn’t care what people were doing online because she was rarely on. When she retired and she was on Facebook more she started culling people. Some people leave people on their Facebook because they just can’t be bothered dealing with it.

                There are people on your Facebook friends list who will ignore you on purpose, this is a form of abuse and bullying. They will do it on purpose to make you feel worthless, to be vindictive and cruel. They think they are better than you and look down on you and don’t want to waste a second of their time on you. They may treat you the same way in real life. People like this are two faced. If they don’t like you, they would delete you; they wouldn’t keep you as a friend. This is a person who has disdain for you, most likely bitches and criticises you to other people behind your back. They lurk on your Facebook to passively aggressively hurt you. They will watch what you do to nit pick or make critical remarks about you to others.

                You will find that there are complete strangers you have on Facebook that will like you, care about you and have more time for you. It’s sad that strangers care about you more than your own friends and family, but sometimes that’s the way it is. People are cruel.

                I don’t turn my nose up at people and look down on them, and if I find someone so toxic, I will delete them rather than pretend to be friends with them. I used to always be the one who would go out of their way for people. These days I’m only there for those who are there for me, which is a few people. I don’t want to play games. I’m over LIKE’ing people’s posts who just ignore me all the time. These are the games people play and then turn around and pretend they are innocent and make other people to look like the bad guy. When you ignore them in return or delete them, they will deflect and pretend they haven’t ignored you in 2 years but make out you to be the bad guy. There’s a lot of people who behave this way, toxic people.

                When I’m on Facebook I don’t over post, I try to post only a couple things on my Facebook feed a day, sometimes none, it depends. I’ve heard people say that people ‘over post’, I have friends who do this online. Post about 10 or 15 things a day. All their thoughts and lots of photos. Drowning out your Facebook feed. I had a friend who does this, but I take it in my stride. This person had depression and was getting things off their chest. They weren’t always sad or angry, they also posted things they enjoyed online as well. I just think, well, maybe that’s what’s going on in their life. They don’t have the same life as other people do; they aren’t that fortunate. Maybe we are the only ones that they’ve got to interact with. Whether they have people in their life or not, maybe they just want someone to hear them, to listen to them, to be there for them. What they were doing online wasn’t impacting me all that much, so I kept them online. They’re not a bad person so I wouldn’t treat them like they are. I’ll rather people who post opposed to those who don’t. I find interesting people more appealing on Facebook than those who don’t post. If I deleted all the people who posted and kept all the people who don’t post, my feed would be rather boring. Everyone on Facebook is different, nobody should have to feel that they must be the same as others.
