You gaze out into the crystal blue ocean as you drive along the beachfront, car window ajar allowing the salty, warm breeze to kiss your skin gently. The sun glimmers brightly in the sky, not a single cloud in sight and you feel as though nothing could possibly go wrong.

Deidre invited you on this beach trip as a last minute getaway. She knew you’d been having a bit of a hard time with your mental health recently, so she decided to rent a beach house for the two of you to try and help you get out of your “funk” as she called it. Two weeks of relaxation with nothing to worry about. Just lounging around in the warm sun with your best friend for 14 days. You simply couldn’t say no.

Seeing as Deidre has been your best friend for the majority of your lifetime, trips like these aren’t uncommon in the slightest. In fact, you’ve been on so many vacations with her and her family that you can’t even fathom going somewhere like this without her.

“Do you wanna stop and grab something to eat before we get to the house?” The sound of her voice draws you from your almost dazed state and you turn to look at her as she drives. Immediately at the mention of food, your stomach gurgles violently, loud enough for both of you to hear which causes you both to burst into a fit of laughter.

“I guess that answers your question better than anything.” You choke through laughter.

“Well then,” She giggles, “McDonald’s, here we come!”

The two of you purchase almost the entire McDonald’s menu and eat approximately 3/4ths of it in the car before you’re finally headed to the beach house with bloated tummies and quenched appetites.

Eventually, you’re pulling into the driveway of a small, teal beach house facing the ocean. The house is lifted on stilts due to its position near the ocean and the paint is slightly worn, chipping away on the wooden slats most likely due to past tropical storms. There are two sets of steps, both leading to a wrap around porch, one coming from the back of the house (where the pool is) and one leading directly to the front door. It’s quaint and homey and you love it.

When you’d initially pulled in, you hadn’t noticed the other car parked in the driveway, but now that you’re stepping out of Deidre’s car, your gaze falls directly onto the bright yellow Ferrari parked only a few feet away from you. There is only one person you know that owns that exact car.

“Oh! I forgot to mention, Harry is staying here too.”

You whip your head in Deidre’s direction, your jaw nearly dropping from its hinges. “Why didn’t you tell me that earlier??”

She shrugs casually as she swings the drivers door shut and walks around to the back. “I guess I forgot.” She presses a button on her keys and the back door slowly opens in front of her. “Plus, I didn’t think you’d mind, the two of you have always gotten along.”

“Deidre, that’s not why I’m upset-”

“Great, then what’s the problem?” She interrupts, eyebrows raised in question as she stares at you. You definitely aren’t one for violence, but the image of smacking her directly across the face flashes across your mind for a moment and you seriously consider doing it. “He’s just here to relax like us. And he’s paying for the place, so I couldn’t really say no.”

You let out an exasperated groan in response, slamming the passenger door shut and stomping around to the back of the car so that you can retrieve your own bags.

The truth is, you and Harry had gotten along in the past, which would give you no reason to be panicking right now, but something you hadn’t told Deidre was that for the entirety of your childhood, you were madly in love with him. Yes, he’s older than you by a few years, but that never stopped you from pining over him from the ripe age of six. You had watched the way he treated his two sisters and mother for so long and fell in love with his kindness and care for others. You used to daydream about the day he would realize his love for you, but of course Harry got famous and that day never came.

It’s been years since you’ve seen him in person. The last time you were in direct contact was nearly 4 years ago, a couple years after he went on The X Factor and was immediately consumed by fame. He was 18 at the time, visiting home during a little break, and you were having a sleepover with Deidre, but the length of your collision wasn’t very long. A few harmless words were exchanged during dinner and then you and Deidre had excused yourselves to continue your evening and that was it. Then, he was undeniably the most attractive boy you had ever seen and now, if it was even possible, he’d blossomed into a beautiful man, even more attractive than he was before.

As you begin to haul your bags out of the trunk, Harry appears at the top of the steps, screen door leading into the house flapping loudly behind him.

“Need some help with bags?” He calls, swiftly galloping down the wooden steps.

Deidre sighs in relief, “That’d be great, thanks Harry!”

His long, curly hair is pulled into a tight bun at the top of his head, a few stray curls framing his beautiful face. He smiles at you, dimples sinking deeply into his cheeks as he strides towards you, “Long time, no see,”

You feel the heat rising in your cheeks and you smile sheepishly, “Hi, Harry, how are you?”

“I’m pretty good! And yourself?” He asks, effortlessly tugging your large bag from the trunk of the car and slinging it over his shoulder.

You swallow thickly, struggling to keep your eyes off of his straining muscles through his thin t-shirt. “I’m uh- I’m good as well.”

“Glad to hear it, babe.” He winks and you watch as he takes a few smaller bags from the trunk, heading back up the stairs and through the front door, breathing out a shaky sigh before grabbing your remaining bag.

Deidre is already halfway up the stairs behind him when she calls back to you, “Can you close the trunk before coming up?”

You shoot her a quick thumbs up and drop the bags onto the cement driveway, lifting your arms above your head and slamming the large door shut before picking up the bags again and heading towards the stairs. You’re still quite stunned at what just happened and, frankly, you’re a little bit vexed with Deidre’s nonchalant way of sharing that Harry was going to be joining you on what was supposed to be a relaxing trip. Nevertheless, you’re forced to set your feelings aside and keep your mouth shut for fear of Deidre prying the truth out of you.

As you step into the house, screen door slamming behind you, you take a gander around the living area. It’s small and you can tell it hasn't been redecorated since at least 1985. Every piece of decor has some sort of relation to a beach (quite fitting considering where you are). Even the wallpaper is covered with small seashells and fish and it makes you chuckle. There’s an opening connected to the living area that leads directly to the kitchen, a second doorway that you assume leads to the bedrooms, and a large sliding glass door that leads to the back porch.

Deidre saunters out of the second doorway, “C’mon, let me show you our room!”

You frown, “Our room?”

“Yeah, there are only two bedrooms.”

“Oh,” You take a moment to breathe in, feeling your frustration building with every passing moment as you follow her into the small hallway. You pass the first door on your right, glancing inside to find the bathroom before moving on. The next door you pass is a bedroom decorated identically to the living room, a queen sized bed crammed into the corner with a quilt covered in clownfish and seaweed and the last door is another bedroom. This bedroom is painted a bright coral pink and the theme seems to be seashells due to the seashell print on the bed’s quilt and the framed seashells above the bed. This room, although similar to the first one, is a little bit larger and the bed rests directly in the middle of the room instead of it being crammed into the corner like the first one.

You step into the room after Deidre and toss your bags onto the floor next to the wall before throwing yourself onto the bed as you kick your shoes off. “I’m so ready to relax,”

She hums as she unzips her large bag and begins shoveling her clothes into the top drawer of the dresser across from the bed. “Me too,”

“I think I might go for a swim,” You turn over onto your back, lifting yourself up to sit on the edge of the bed as you look at her. “Wanna join me?”

“As soon as i finish unpacking, I will.”

You shoot her a quick thumbs up and shove yourself off of the bed and towards your bags. Harry had set your large bag of clothes right beside the door, so you fall to your knees and pull it towards you to search for your bathing suit.

“Go ask if Harry wants to come, too.” She adds, tossing her own bathing suit onto the bed.

You hate her. You want to strangle her. It’s like she knows. But of course, she doesn’t. You’d never told anyone about your little crush and you planned to keep it that way. Tucking the valuable information into the very back of your mind for the rest of eternity.

Without a word, you push yourself onto your feet and pad through the doorway, the thick carpet squishing softly beneath your bare feet. You’re hesitant to call for him at first, quietly wandering through the hallway, peering into the open doorways. Both rooms are empty, but there’s evidence of him sprawled across the bedroom. A large suitcase thrown haphazardly on the bed with clothes and shoes strewn all around it.

“Harry?” You continue walking, stepping out into the living room to find him lounging on the couch with the TV on in nothing but a pair of tight, black jeans, tattoos on full display. “Oh, there you are,” He looks up at you, a hint of mischief behind his virescent eyes. “Dee was wondering if you wanted to go for a swim with us.” it’s a statement, of course, but the wavering of your voice makes it sound like a question.

“I would,” He starts, sitting up a little and reaching for the TV remote to turn down the volume. “But it looks like it’s about to rain.”

You frown, turning to the sliding glass window to find that in the short amount of time it took for you to take your bags from the car and into the house, the sky had filled with dark, fluffy clouds.

“Shit.”

Thunder rumbles in the distance, droplets of rain mizzling against the windows and roof quietly as the three of you keep yourselves dry inside the beach house.

“Alright, we have Monopoly, Life, Scrabble, Cards Against Humanity, a deck of regular playing cards, Jenga, and a few puzzles.” Deidre lists as she shovels through the large chest beside the couch, labeled ‘Games’. “Which one sounds the most fun right now?”

You curl your feet underneath you on the couch and shrug, “A puzzle sounds nice.”

She nods, turning to Harry who’s making himself a sandwich in the kitchen. “Harry?”

“I agree with her on the puzzle.”

“Puzzle it is, then.” She concludes, grabbing the first puzzle her eyes land on and setting it on the wooden coffee table. Another fit of thunder causes the house to shiver and you sigh, silently cursing the rain for trapping you inside on the first day of vacation.

After Harry comes back into the living room and settles onto the couch beside you, Deidre sits on the other side of the coffee table and dumps the puzzle pieces out onto it. A show you’ve never heard of plays on the TV behind her and you glance up from the puzzle every now and then to watch it as the three of you sit in silence.

The entire evening Harry sits beside you, his arm gently nudging yours every time he reaches forward to move a puzzle piece. At first, you brush it off as an accident, barely acknowledging his presence, but when he takes it a step further and knocks a puzzle piece out of your hand, you glance in his direction to find him smiling smugly to himself. You shake your head, holding back a small smile as you return to the puzzle, finding a different piece and placing it where it belongs. Two can play at that game.

As Harry reaches for another piece, you quickly reach over his arm and snatch the piece he was aiming for, mumbling: “Ah, here it is! I was looking for this one.”

You can feel his gaze burning a hole into the side of your face as you hold back a laugh, a grin tugging at your lips.

“Was that necessary?” He hums thickly, keeping his gaze in your direction.

You shrug, placing the piece into its home. “I mean, that’s the point of building a puzzle, right? Finding each piece and where it goes...”

He smirks and shakes his head at you but doesn’t respond.

A few hours pass as the three of you work and soon, it’s dark outside and the rain has calmed to a light drizzle. Deidre yawns and stretches her arms above her head before glance at the time on her phone.

“I think I’m gonna head to bed, it’s pretty late and long drives always make me tired.” She says through another yawn and you nod.

“Me too,”

“Alright then, wimps,” Harry replies, “I guess I’ll just have to party by myself.”

Deidre looks at you and rolls her eyes dramatically as Harry chuckles to himself. You push yourself up from the couch, stretching your arms out above your head just like Deidre had done moments ago.

“Goodnight, Harry.” She hums, stepping around the coffee table to smack a quick kiss to his forehead before sauntering off to the bedroom. You glance behind you as you follow her, giving Harry a small wave.

“G’night,” He mumbles softly in response and you can feel his gaze on you as you step into the hallway. Part of you thinks that maybe, just maybe, he’s checking you out.

Warm droplets of water cascade down your bare skin as you step out of the shower, wrapping a soft towel around your body. You hum quietly to yourself, patting the towel against your skin to dry off as much as possible.

Just as you’ve finished drying yourself off, you realize you completely forgot to bring a clean change of clothes into the bathroom, so you’re just left with the dirty clothes you’d spent the entire day in. Cringing at the thought of putting the clothes back on, you decide to take your chances and slip out of the bathroom with just a towel wrapped around your form.

You gather the pile of clothes into your arms after taking a moment to moisturize and brush your teeth, stepping out into the dark hallway. Suddenly, just as you’re taking another step, Harry appears at the end of the hallway, crunching loudly with a bowl of cereal in hand. He’s clothed in a thin, grey t-shirt and plaid pajama pants, fluffy socks pulled onto his feet.

“Shit,” You gasp, eyes widening as you press the bundle of clothes to your chest harshly.

“Oh, hey,” Harry says mid chew.

You pause, “I didn’t think you’d be awake...”

He smiles sheepishly, “Yeah, uh, I got a little hungry.”

“I can see that,”

“I can make you a bowl if you’d like,” He offers, jutting a thumb behind his shoulder towards the kitchen.

“Harry-” You scoff, “I am quite literally standing naked in front of you right now.”

He shrugs, chuckling to himself as his eyes flit to the ground and then back up to you. “Was just trying to be polite.”

“Um- well, thanks, but I think I’m alright for now.”

“Alright,” He sighs, taking another bite from his spoon, “Goodnight, then.”

“‘Night.” You murmur, watching him strut past you towards his room. You wait until the door is closed before you scurry into your own room, finding Deidre fast asleep on her side of the bed.

Morning comes sooner than anticipated and soon, you’re dragging yourself out of bed as Deidre snores. You’re not expecting her to get out of bed anytime soon.

You trudge out into the kitchen with a yawn, finding Harry leaning against the countertop with his nose buried in a book. He’s in the same clothes from the night before, but instead of his hair being pulled back into a bun

“Good morning,” You smile, wrapping your arms around yourself as you step onto the cold tile.

He glances up from his book and smiles back, tucking a bookmark between the pages before setting it down on the countertop. “Mornin’. Coffee’s almost ready if you want some. I made enough for all of us.”

“Oh, great, thank you!”

“I went out to the shops earlier as well and got some of that coffee creamer you and Dee like,” He starts, pushing his large hand through his long, curly hair. “I know it’s been a bit since we last saw each other, but I know that she still likes it, so I assumed you do, too.”

A smile tugs at the corner of your lips as you take a clean mug from the dish rack lying beside the sink, “I actually do still like it, thank you.”

He shakes his head, “S’no problem, really.”

The coffee maker beeps twice to indicate that the coffee is finished brewing and Harry turns, reaching out for your mug. “May I?”

“Oh- yes, please,” You smile, allowing him to take the ceramic mug from your hand and pour the scalding liquid into the mug before gently placing it back into your hand. “Thanks.”

You walk to the fridge, swinging the door open to scavenge for the creamer he’d mentioned earlier. The carton catches your eye and you snatch it from the shelf, kicking the fridge door shut before setting the mug on the counter.

“Did I get the right kind?” Harry asks as you unscrew the cap.

“Yep!” You smile, pouring the cream into the dark coffee, causing the two to swirl together into a thick, hazel colored liquid. You find a small spoon in one of the many drawers lining the countertop and you drop it into the liquid, stirring it momentarily before tapping off the excess liquid and placing the spoon into the sink. Glancing back up at him, you take a careful sip from your mug to test the temperature.

“Good?” He asks, sipping from his own mug slowly.

“Great.” You confirm, taking a larger sip as you lean your hip against the counter.

The two of you sit in comfortable silence for a few long moments, sipping your coffee leisurely before Harry speaks.

“Do you-” He clears his throat, “Do you want to go sit out on the back deck with our coffee? The weather’s great and the view is phenomenal.”

He seems slightly more nervous than he had been the day before, most likely due to your brief run in that evening, but you don’t mind. “Yeah, that sounds nice!”

He nods towards the doorway with a smile, waiting for you to take the first step before following behind you through the sliding glass door. There are a few chairs settled around a small, round table, overlooking a breathtaking view of the beach where a few people are getting their morning jog in or just strolling leisurely along the shore. You slide yourself into the furthest chair, careful not to spill the hot coffee in your hand as you do so, watching Harry as he does the same.

You wonder why, if he was paying for the entire trip, he would choose such a cheap beach house in such a rural part of this particular beach. Seeing as he was a multi millionaire, you’d assume he would choose the most expensive place to stay in the most popular area, but that obviously isn’t the case. Not that you aren’t grateful for staying there for free, because you are, you’re just curious.

“So,” You begin, sipping your coffee for a moment before continuing. “How’s celebrity life treating you?”

He chuckles, pushing a hand through his luscious mane, “S’not bad. Been treatin’ me pretty well, I can’t complain.”

You nod, “That’s good, I’m glad to hear it.” Pausing for a moment, you curl your feet beneath you on the chair before speaking again. “Can I ask you something?”

He glances up from his coffee, raising his eyebrows with a nod, “Sure.”

You take a breath, aware of the intrusiveness of your question but speaking anyways. “Dee told me you’re paying for all this,” You motion to the house with your hands, “And I’m just wondering why you chose to come here and rent this house when you have the money for something much nicer in a much nicer area.”

He thinks about it for a moment, brows furrowed in thought before he lets out a breathy laugh. “Honestly, there are a few reasons,” He clears his throat and crosses one leg over the other. “The first one is that I’m able to avoid paparazzi, for the most part, because they don’t suspect that I’d ever stay in a place like this,” He explains, using his hands to animate. “And the second one is that I like to make things as normal as possible, especially when I’m spending time with Dee. I know she would absolutely love staying in some bougie mansion with its own private beach, but I just don’t want things to be different from when we were kids, you know? I’d rather her not have the image of me being a rich asshole in her head all the time. I just want her to see me as she always has; her big brother.”

Your heart flutters in your chest at his sentiment, the reminder of just how much he cares about his family causing certain feelings to come rushing back to you. “I- sorry, I know that was a weird question to ask... but yeah that makes sense. I didn’t really think of it that way.”

Just as you finish speaking, Deidre comes bursting wildly through the sliding glass door in her bathing suit and a large towel draped over her arm.

“IT’S BEACH TIME, FUCKERS!!” She screams, leaping down the stairs and bolting across the dock leading to the beach. Her bare feet kick up clouds of sand as she runs across the beach, dropping her towel carelessly as she gallops into the water.

You and Harry look at each other with wide eyes, both of you bursting into a fit of laughter at the same time. You open your mouth to speak, but Deidre beats you to it.

“COME ON GUYS!! IT FEELS GREAT!”

You look back at Harry again, snickering. “I think we should get out there.”

He hums, “I agree.”

You both lift yourselves out of the porch chairs, heading into the house to change into your own bathing suits. Harry, of course, offers to take your mug and clean it.

Around ten minutes pass before you’re finally in your bathing suit stepping out onto the sand with Harry following close behind. Deidre is laying out on the sand with an arm draped over her eyes as she waits for the two of you to arrive. Since it’s still morning, there’s a bit of a nippy breeze to the air, causing goosebumps to litter your skin and shiver to travel down your spine.

“Finally,” She breathes, pushing herself up from the towel. Harry comes up behind you and drops both of your towels onto the sand beside her along with his book from this morning.

“S’quite nice out, innit?” He hums, resting his hands against his hips. His hair is pulled back into a bun and he’s wearing the shortest bright yellow swim trunks you’ve ever seen and you can’t help but to giggle a little.

Deidre rolls her eyes, reaching forward and grasping your arm before dragging you with her towards the water. It’s around 10:00 am and there are a few more people on the beach than there were when you and Harry had first sat on the deck, so when you enter the water, you and Deidre aren’t the only ones there.

Though there are people on the beach, none of them seem to notice that Harry’s there. They’re all caught up in their own vacations, oblivious to the fact that a multi-millionaire celebrity is galloping into the ocean towards you like a child.

You and Deidre screech as he comes toppling into the water head first, cool water splashing around him and onto both of you. The small waves crash into your legs whilst you clamor through the water, Harry surfacing dramatically, completely soaked and absolutely gorgeous.

“It’s fucking freezing,” You mutter under your breath, wrapping your bare arms around yourself as you trudge deeper into the water.

“If you get wet, it won’t be as cold.” Harry retorts, adjusting the sunglasses on the bridge of his nose.

You shake your head at him, “You’re insane,”

Just as you speak those words, Deidre dunks herself completely under water, splashing you once again as she comes back to the surface.

Harry chuckles, “C’mon, you’re gonna get wet eventually.”

You ignore the subtle innuendo. “I have no intention of getting in further than here so if you really want me to go under, it’s gonna have to be done by force.”

He cocks an eyebrow from beneath his sunglasses. “Is that a challenge?”

“Don’t even think about it,” You breathe, glaring at him.

“You really shouldn’t have said that,” Deidre snickers as Harry begins to creep towards you slowly. His eyes are hidden beneath his sunglasses but you can tell his pupils are narrowed in directly on you.

You step back with every step he takes forward, small waves crashing into the backs of your thighs at the movement of the water. He lifts his arms slightly as he stalks toward you and you squeal, nearly stumbling backwards and toppling back into the cold water.

“Harry, I swear to god-” You start but you’re quickly interrupted by your own shriek as he tackles you into the water. It feels as though you’ve inhaled gallons of water from the impact once you resurface, sputtering and gasping dramatically. He doubles over with laughter and Deidre cackles a few feet away. You feel like a sad, wet dog standing in the ocean as they laugh at you and you cross your arms over your chest with a huff. “I hate both of you so much.”

Harry rolls his eyes, “Oh, come onnnn, it’s not that bad.”

“My nipples could do some serious damage right now,” You growl between chattering teeth and both of them giggle.

“Well, you’re wet now so there’s no point in not swimming with us.” Deidre shrugs, dipping back under as a wave rolls by.

You stand in silent rage for a few moments, glaring at Harry as he tries in vain not to let his eyes flicker down to your breasts. You don’t notice his eyeline wavering, though, too distracted by the brumal temperature of your body. A particularly nippy breeze attacks your damp skin and you whimper slapping your arms around your chest.

“I’m going back to the shore. It’s way too cold for this.” You huff, the water sloshing loudly as you begin to traipse back to the shore.

Harry watches you stumble back onto the soppy sand with a slight smirk on his pink lips and you can hear the low chuckle escape from his chest breathily. You counter his haughty chortle with a middle finger thrown up behind you, eyes trained in front of you to shield your view of him.

Once you reach the towels you’d set out earlier, you unfold your towel and wrap it around your shoulders before plopping your ass into the sand. The chattering of your teeth subsides after a few moments and you glance to your side to find the book Harry had been reading. Curiosity fills you and you reach over, lifting it from its spot on Harry’s towel and bringing it in front of you to examine it.

It’s a paperback, the cover an off-white cardstock with a simple design of a bleeding heart, impaled by an arrow on the front. The title reads “The Course of Love, a novel by Alain De Botton” and a smile tugs at the corner of your lips. You never would have assumed that he would be such a romantic.

You turn to the first chapter titled “Infatuations”, scanning it briefly and landing on the small, italicized paragraph in the middle that reads, “A marriage doesn’t begin with a proposal, or even an initial meeting. It begins far earlier, when the idea of love is born, and more specifically the dream of a soul mate.”

“Insightful.” You mutter to yourself, eyebrows raised in understanding before fanning the pages to scour the book further.

As you scan the blur of pages, you find that there are words scrawled all over the margins of the paper, words frantically underlined like they’d been scribbled whilst he was in a hurry. Your thumb lands approximately a fourth of the way into the book, a small photograph slipping from the spine and into your lap as you open it. It’s a photo of him, Deidre, Gemma (their older sister) and Anne (their mother) all cuddled up together on Anne’s couch with warm smiles on their faces. Their smiles are almost identical to each other as well as their features and, in a way, it comforts you.

You glance back up from the photo to the page of the book, your eyes immediately landing on an underlined sentence from the italicized section. It reads, “When two people belong together, there is simply--at long last--a wondrous reciprocal feeling that both parties see the world in precisely the same way.” You suck in a breath at the words for a moment but a sudden droplet of water landing on the page pulls you from your stupor.

“I see you’ve found my book,” Harry’s voice belows above you and you snap your head in his direction as he shakes his dripping wet hair.

You nestling the photo back into the spine of the book before shutting it and smiling up at him sheepishly. “Sorry, I- it was just sitting there and I got curious.”

“S’alright, I don’t mind,” He shrugs, reaching for his towel and wrapping it around himself. “What’d you think?”

“Oh- I only read a couple sentences,” You mutter, tightening the towel around yourself. “But from what I did read, it seemed quite insightful.”

“Oh, yeah?” He quirks an amused eyebrow at you.

“Yeah,” You chuckle, “Very elegant and sophisticated.”

“Mmm.” He hums, nodding his head in agreement.

Your bottom lip slips between your teeth to hold back a grin as you glance away from him towards the water. Your eyes land on a group of people standing around Deidre in the shallow water directly across from you. You frown, “What’s Dee gotten herself into?”

He takes a swig from the metal bottle of water he’d brought with him before speaking, “Made herself some new friends, I guess.”

You study them for a moment, watching her laugh heartily at one of the guys’ jokes and pursing your lips together. Wherever the two of you went, she was always capable of making friends. Her natural charm could sweep anyone off their feet and it endlessly left you feeling like an extra wheel. You know she doesn’t mean to leave you out of things, she never has any sort of malicious intent, but you’re both so different from each other that it constantly feels like you’re left in the dust.

You glance away from the group, looking back in Harry’s direction to distract yourself from the intrusive thoughts filling your mind.

“So, um, what’re your opinions on it?” You start again, clearing your throat quietly. “The book, I mean.”

He smiles as he skillfully tosses his sopping hair into a messy bun, “I like it. S’actually the second time I’ve read it.”

Your eyebrows quirk at that, “Really?”

He nods, tilting his body closer to you and bending one of his legs up against his chest. “Yeah.”

You laugh, “What do you expect from that?”

“What, like, do I expect it to change?” You nod silently in response and he shrugs. “I mean- no, it’s just… comforting, in a way.”

“Comforting,” You repeat to yourself. “I guess that makes sense.”

“It also kind of helps me retain the information better, you know?” He continues, mindlessly digging his fingers into the damp sand.

“Yeah, I understand,” You reply softly, “Do you do that with all the books you read?”

He nods, “More or less.”

There’s an abrupt screech, followed by a few animated giggles and both of you look up at the sound. Deidre is running towards the two of you happily, a wide smile spread across her face as she skids to a stop in front of you.

“I’m gonna go get lunch with these guys,” She chokes, out of breath from the short jog over. “Do either of you wanna come?”

You glance behind her at the group as they watch her for a moment and then you turn your head back to her. “You go ahead, I think I’ll just stay back here.”

Her expression falls a little and she sighs, turning to Harry with a hopeful look. He looks at you for a moment and then peers back up at her.

“Think m’gonna do the same. Have fun, though.” He smiles and you nod along with him.

She sighs again, reaching down and yanking her towel from the sand. “Alright, well, I’m gonna go change and then I’ll be heading out with them for a couple hours.”

You watch as she calls back to them that she’ll “be right back” before galloping back up to the house with her towel dragging behind her.

“You could’ve gone with them if you wanted to, you know,” You say quietly. “I’m alright by myself.”

He shakes his head, “No, no, s’not really my scene anyways.”

You stay silent after that, watching the repetitive roll of the waves in a mindless state. Deidre returns in a matter of minutes, a loose dress tossed over her bathing suit, her long, dark hair tied into a high ponytail fluttering behind her as she prances.

“See ya!” She calls after you.

“Be careful!” You call in response and then she’s gone, engulfed into the group just like she had been before.

Shoji, does not see you as a snob or anything....mostly because he didn’t look down the first time he ‘met’ you, didn’t even see you in fact.

The second time he meets you, he realizes he likes the soft shy nature. So he tries to strike up a conversation, apparently this man knows no fear, at least when it comes to talk to new people.

Mezo, loves how you can match his mode at almost any given instant, but, he loves it even more when you tell him, what you really want.

Not everyone agrees but, I feel like this boy is lacking in the physical affection area due to insecurities.... SO! It’s the moment you start to snuggle into his side under his arms, hugging his arm/s (True lovers will take the challenge to hug all three), hugging his waist and pressing your cheek into his chest. He will hold you in the tightest embrace and make sure no one will ever hurt the thing he holds closest to him.

Ever felt self conscious? He will crush those insecurities the way he crushes weight lifting. No body makes his girl cry, and if they do, he’s not going to hurt them...bad.

So how did you go from friends to dating? Well, it was the moment your platonic actions made him realize. “......This, it’s nice being the one who’s held, and not holding someone else.” Struck a heart string for him.

Alone it wasn’t just the soft and intimate touches, it was the small things, when you sat by his side, dropped your head against his shoulder, took a hand between both of yours and talked about your day, all the good, bad, lunch, anything, he loved your voice and hearing you be open. He worries a bit when he sees you struggling, and wants to help, but doesn’t want you to feel insecure. So he sits back and encumourgaes you with words, praying to whoever is listening that it’ll be good. When things get a bit serious, he’ll try to slyly help you, and you’ll accept it because what’s more romantic then cooking with your boyfriend?

Shoji, loves you deeply, seeks out your soft touches and hushed whispers, will gladly hold you on his chest while he lays back on his bed, even though he knows he should approve of your procrastination.

“Hey! Shoji!” Patricia whispered screamed while knocking his door.

The sound of shuffling was heard and soon she came face to chest with the white haired male that had come to be her friend.

“I need help,” she entered his room as he stepped aside letting her in, “Momo wants me to study more but I can’t! I’m tired.” She plopped down on a cushion she had left in his room the other night when she brought tea.

He simply nodded and closed the door, “I won’t hide you for long, just a break.”

It was a lie, the afternoon turned late, followed by early night, and here they were talking in whispers about something that happened in Patricia’s past.

“It was embarrassing! I literally blew snot on my crush, he didn’t even talk to me or look at me! Luckily my crush didn’t last more than two weeks so I got over it quick.”

Patricia turned onto her left side to face Shoji, he was laying on his back, head turned to look at her. His left arms supporting his head and tight arms stretch out. Patricia lowered her head to rest on his shoulder and sighed, content and smiled. “Shoji, you probably know this already but you are the best.”

Her left arm stayed tucked by her side as her right arm hugged his broad chest, his free arms coming to hold her waist and shoulders pulling her closer.

“You’re the only one to tell me.” He said still looking down at her.

“Well, I’ll just have to say it more then.” She tried to squeeze him failing due to his hardened muscular structure.

“Maybe I should work out.” She mumbled looking down at her tummy, it wasn’t a models body, but to Shoji? It belonged to the most beautiful lady he’s met so far in his life, (mom excluded for survival reasons.)

“I think you’re beautiful,” the mouth moved before he realized what he was going to say out loud.

Patricia felt the heat in her cheeks, sure she’d been complimented before but this felt, different, she closed her eyes and smiled, “Thank you Shoji, I think you’re quite handsome.”

He quickly turned his face the other way glad his mask covered majority of his face.

You laid there, wiggling your way closer to his side taking his warmth, but truth be told, without you, he’d feel just as cold as he did before. Maybe now would be the time to tell you, how madly I love he thinks he is in with you. To tell you how he loves watching you mumble into his chest when you sleep on him when he’s at your dorm watching a movie up at three in the morning when you have early classes the next day. The way he ties your hair back when your painting your best or writing your finest print. The way your brows furrow as you mix ingredients, and then how your eyes widen and you blush’s heepishky realizing you may have messed up. How even when your booked all day, you procrastinate and use that time to busy up his free time.

“Let’s get you to your dorm before you fall asleep.” Was all he said as he lifted you and himself.

Carrying anyone bridal style was a simple task, the man could carry the hero endeavor on one side and all might on the other, people often forget with one side he can life a thousand pounds easy. But, you always felt a bit self conscious, but when would your weight ever compare to 1000 pounds? Even if you did, he’d do everything he could to make sure you love yourself.

Making it to your room, he took your kept and opened the door. Once inside he was hit with the wave of a familiar scent. It was the smell of faint sweets and mint. It wasn’t strong, just noticeable. He walked in you yawned in his arms. You gave his neck a tight hug and thanked him for what did. He simply nodded, not liking the reaction you grabbed his neck and pulled him down into you.

He quickly readjusted so his weight wouldn’t crush you, here he was, laying on his back having forced you into his chest, he held you safe with all his arms, you yawned resting your head on his cheek. “Don’t go Mezo.”

He sighed and squeezed you, “I shouldn’t spend the night.”

“Please?” You yawned again.

He tried to fight but he couldn’t, “once.”

Fell asleep on his chest, but woke up in panic when he turned to his side, you almost fell of the bed, but he caught you. He pulled you into his chest now chest to chest on your sides you held him, your eyes held lidded as you wanted to stay awake but sleep was much better.

“I should tell you something.” His voice was low and smooth.

“Mhmm,” you hummed enjoying his voice.

“I think, I’ve grown emotionally attracted to you.”

You didn’t process it to easy, emotionally attached? Oooo big words, big guy makes sense. The problem with being half weak, was that you didn’t process it. But your lips moved on their own as you pushed you self up to get level with him, kissing his cheek you nuzzled his clothed cheek, “Shoji I have confession.”

“I think I love you.” Patricia mumbled and continued to try and get closer to the boy.

He let out a single laughed and squeezed her closer, “Well talk when your awake.”

“Mkay, Good night Shoji, love you.” You yawned, and let your eyes close still catching his faint whispered into the darkness as his chin rested on your head, “Good night, I..... love you.”

Your heart warmed up at his soft whispered and you smield feeling yourself finally sleep, so soft, so sweet.

Author’s note: it’s stated very clear in the request, but to anyone who struggles with things similar to this (transphobia, biphobia, etc) please do not be afraid to slide into my dms if you need someone to talk to or just listen. I want all my readers to feel comfortable with being who they are no matter the race, gender, sexuality, or anything.

Trudging over to the next class, you hoisted your bag over your shoulder so it wouldn’t slip off. You weren’t really in the mood to be listening to your teacher drone on and on about some dead people, but it beat being at home with your parents and listen to them talk horribly about your parents.

It would have been fine if they did anything to make your parents upset, but the thing was, when your mother went to welcome them into the neighborhood, she assumed that the two were brothers or friends. When she found out that the two were actually married, she didn’t hide her disgust when she excused herself and went back home, as if they had some horrendous disease.

It angered you to hear them so lowly about the two and the community in general that you ended up speaking up just to defend them. Your mother looked completely stricken while your father’s scowl deepened. “They shouldn’t even exist. What makes them think that it’s nice to see two men kissing?” You mother sneered and you clenched your jaw. “They’re people, they aren’t any different from you and dad.”

“Are you defending them?” Your father looked absolutely mortified while your mother gasped. “There is no way that my daughter will be associated with anything like… that.” She shook her head and inside, you actually felt your heart ache when she asked. “You aren’t like them, right honey?” Your father answered before you could open your mouth. “We raised her better than that. There’s no chance.”

You couldn’t tell them. After weeks of trying to build up the courage to come out to your parents, this exact moment wiped all optimistic thoughts you tried to have. So to escape the tense atmosphere, you made a quick excuse and left, stating that you would be late if you stayed longer.

“Penny for your thoughts?” A voice intercepted your thoughts and a gentle hand found its place on the small of your back.

When you looked to the side, you found your best friend staring at you with a frown on her own face. “I don’t think I’ve seen you this upset to come to school.” She tries to cheer you up with a joke, but it does very little to forget what happened that morning.

“Sorry, Jen. I’ve just been thinking about stuff.” You sighed and the worry grows as she wraps her arms around yours, hugging it against her chest as you both headed to class. “What’s wrong?” She inquires and your gaze drops to the floor.

If anyone knew about your sexuality, it was definitely the girl next to you. You’ve both known each other since elementary school and you’ve been attached to the hip since. That was why it wasn’t a surprise when you began to have not so friendly feelings for the girl when high school started.

She was there for you when you were confused about your sexuality, and she was there to listen when you finally realized that you were, in fact, interested in women. And she didn’t pull away from you when you told her. In fact, it strengthened the bond between the two of you.

Jennie was the person you turned to when things were too much. She was your rock and kept you grounded when sometimes you felt as though giving up was the only option.

“Just my parents.” You mumble when you both got to the room and took your respective seats next to each other. She sat down and shifted so she’s looking at you. “You told them already?” She asked softly, but you shook your head before beginning to tell her what happened that morning. The more you said, it was clear on her face that she was not happy.

You didn’t even realize you were crying until she cupped your cheek to wipe away your tears. “Hey, it’s okay.” She said gently after pulling her hands away. “You don’t have to tell them anything. I get that they’re your parents, but if that’s how they spoke to you earlier, I think it’s best to hold off for now.”

Coming out after such a revelation didn’t seem like the safest option for you and Jennie did not want to have you in a situation that could potentially harm you, physically or emotionally.

“But what if they find out?” You couldn’t help but ask. “They won’t. It’s not like there’s anyone to tell them.” She tells you before huffing and then leaning back against her seat and the look on her face makes you raise a brow as she chuckled humorlessly.

“What?”

The brunette purses her lips before glaring at her desk. “My parents know… and they pretty much threw a fit.” Your eyes widened at the admission before you’re reaching to touch her arm. “And before you ask, I’m fine.” She smiles at you, though it doesn’t quite reach her eyes. “They’re just a bit more tight with me. I can’t be around girls they aren’t acquainted with and they have to be sure the girl is straight.” That made you stiffen and Jennie noticed before she placed her hand on yours. “They’re perfectly fine with me around you. They don’t know, and I’m keeping it that way because I’ll be damned if they force me away from you.”

Her hand lingers on your skin before she pulled away and rested her head on her desk. “It’s bad enough that our own parents can’t accept us, I’d rather they don’t reject you, too.”

“Ready?” Jennie asked when she met your eyes and you nodded your head while holding the envelope tightly in your hands. Your heart was beating loud in your ears as you stared at the logo and sucked in a deep breath to calm your nerves.

This would be your ticket of getting away from your parents. Both you and Jennie have been working so hard through high school just to get into the same college. If you both got in, then everything would be easier for the both of you.

Both your parents have been getting more and more difficult to tolerate over the years. They kept questioning you on your lack of a relationship while Jennie’s parents had boys from their friends be shoved at her face in hopes of “cleaning” her supposed horrid mindset.

The brunette met your gaze and you both counted to three before slowly opening the envelope to see the letter that was delivered to both of you. As your eyes scanned the page, you felt your heart in your throat when you read the words printed on the paper.

Congratulations! You have been accepted into…

The more you read the letter, the more you felt relief wash over you. Jennie was already buzzing in her seat, grinning widely when she saw that she was accepted. But as she looked over to you, her smile quickly faded when she saw the blank look on your face.

“Y/n?”

When you finally look up at her, a gasp falls from her lips and she quickly hops out of her seat to hug you, but stops when you speak. “I got in.” You said in an almost breathless manner. “I got in.” You repeated, trying to convince yourself that you were finally able to leave the prison that you were trapped in and Jennie smiled widely before she engulfed you into the tightest hug that she could muster.

“We did it, Y/n.” She sobs and it’s only then that you realize that she’s crying, too. So you both hold each other, feeling a weight finally fall from your shoulders and you’re finally able to breathe again.

You and Jennie go back and forth between your houses, fixing everything that you needed so that you would be ready to leave when it was time to go. The allowances that you saved was all gathered in a jar, so when you opened up a bank account, you would have everything saved up there.

“Are we good to go?” Jennie called you early in the day. She couldn’t contain her excitement. This was something she was wanting to do for so long, and now she was finally able to move away from her parents and live without having to deal with anyone tormenting her just for being herself.

She had both of your plane tickets since you were flying out together. Luckily, her parents still trusted you and even asked you to make sure that Jennie wasn’t causing trouble. It was very clear what they meant, and with that, decided to help with an apartment that was off campus.

Jennie denied her parents, not wanting to feel indebted to them or to let them have any leverage against both of you if something ever happened in the future.

“Yeah, just give me a minute.” You told her when you hoisted your backpack over your shoulder then grabbed your luggage from the corner of the room. You didn’t even bother looking back when you left the house and ran to Jennie’s car, throwing your arms around her when she greeted you and she gave you a small squeeze while the driver put your things inside the trunk.

When you both pulled back, Jennie smiled widely at you, her hands on your hips as her eyes shined bright. “Gotta get going or else we’ll miss our flight.” She tells you and you nod before remembering something. You quickly grabbed her hand and ran over to your neighbors, knocking on their door and earning a confused look from your best friend.

When the door opens, one of them greets you with a smile. “Y/n, what are you doing here at this time?” The man chuckles before he notices the presence of another person beside you. His smile grows bigger. “Is this-”

But before he could finish, you wrapped your arms around his torso, catching him off guard while patting your back. “Woah, hey. What’s this about?” Behind your parents’ back, you often visited the pair when you could and they welcomed you with open arms. You were able to confide in them when you had struggles with your parents.

Of course, you told Jennie everything, but since she wasn’t that close to your home, your neighbors acted as your guardians and you told them whatever you could.

“I have to get going now.” You told him and the realization dawns on his face before he returns your hug with the same energy. “God, I’m gonna miss you, kiddo. Be sure to text me or Dylan.” He tells you and you nod quickly.

He then turns back to Jennie, who shyly waves a hand. “This is the best friend, I assume?” You nodded before looking over to the other girl and offering a hand, which she quickly took.

“Hello.” She greeted and the man smiled before nodding to her. “Well, it’s sad that I have to meet you at the last moment, but take care of this one for me.” He gestured to you and Jennie beamed, squeezing your hand as she nodded her head. “Always.” She assured him before you checked the time.

The man noticed and smiled at you both. “Well, I’ll see you whenever. I’ll be sure to tell Dylan you came by.” He tells you before turning to Jennie. “And hopefully, we get to talk more.” She smiled at him, agreeing to meet when you decided to visit before you both bid your goodbyes and headed off.

The first semester was slowly coming to an end and it was safe to say that you and Jennie were doing amazing on your own. The apartment wasn’t too far away, so you didn’t have to worry about being late. There was a little cafe that you stopped by every morning to have breakfast and Jennie was brighter than you’ve ever seen her and it made your heart warm.

Being away from her parents really gave her the chance to shine and you were proud of the person she was. She was reaching the potential she had to put away due to the restraints her parents had on her and was now thriving with everything she loved.

And the same could be said for you.

Ever since classes started, you were able to do more than you usually would. Without your parents breathing down your neck, you were able to find inspiration with your works and motivation to do the things you used to. You surrounded yourself with people who cared for you and encouraged you to do more, though not forgetting about the one person who had been a constant in your life since day one.

“You’re home!” Jennie’s voice greeted when you closed the door and took off your shoes. Seeing her made you smile like usual. It was as though she was your own personal happy pill and you were hers. “Hey, what have you been up to?” You ask her when you put your things on the table.

Jennie was in charge of the kitchen, claiming it even before you got to see the apartment. And it wasn’t because she didn’t trust you, but Jennie was very particular when it came to cooking, so you let her be.

“Well, I finished my homework for the next two or three days. I’m just waiting for the cupcakes to finish up.” She gestured to the oven and you nodded your head before taking a seat across from her. “Will you be busy tonight?” She asked carefully and you raise a brow at her. “Not really. So far, we’re only drafting a few things.” She reached over to wipe the bit of paint that you failed to get off earlier.

When she realized it wasn’t coming off too easily, she went to grab a towel and washed it with soap before she came back and cupped your chin before tilting your head up. “You know… I was hoping we could talk. It’s been a while since we’ve had a chance to just hang out with just the two of us.” She tells you while focusing on getting rid of the paint.

“I didn’t realize.” You say apologetically and Jennie shows her infamous gummy smile. “It’s not bad. I guess we’ve both so used to having each other around.” She chuckled before checking to see if there was more paint to remove.

But as her eyes scanned your face, they slowly came to a stop when they meet your own staring right at her with a soft smile on your lips. A blush quickly spreads on her cheeks but she doesn’t look away and, instead wrapped her arms around your neck. “We’ve been through a lot, you know.” She murmurs when her fingers lightly play with your hair. “I often wonder what would happen if I didn’t have you.”

You don’t quite understand where she was getting at, but you made no move to interrupt her as she spoke. “But when I try to think about it, I’m terrified with the thought of not having you next to me.” She whispers and your heart jumps while your arms loop around her petite waist.

“I really… really love you, Y/n.” Her forehead presses against yours and her eyes shut tight.

Even though you were both always so affectionate with each other and that it was clear to all of your friends that you weren’t exactly just plain best friends, you’ve never really said anything in regards to your feelings toward one another.

Her eyes always had that certain emotion in them when she stared at you, and it was clear that you reciprocated them when you stared back at her. But you were both just so caught up with everything and the things your parents have implanted in your head that you never got the chance to be honest with each other.

Until now.

Cupping her cheek, you move to place a tender kiss to her forehead before she’s burying her face into the crook of your neck and clinging to you. “I love you, too, Jen.” You whisper and she lets out a sigh of both relief and content with no longer having to keep her emotions bottled up.

She knew from the get go that she was in love with you.

It was only a matter of time, and it looked like she got it right with every choice she made when it came to you.

With her, you were free.

With you, she was her own person.

Together, you didn’t have to keep cowering behind masks and just let yourselves live as Jennie and Y/n.

Omg, even though people have mentioned it before, I’m honestly still surprised people wanna reread my word vomit fanfiction and it gets me so warm on the inside getting stuff like this.

Of course, feel free print my fics if that makes you happy! I mean as an avid fanfic reader I leave my fics posted because I’m hoping others can enjoy something too. So I guess it’s a gift to the fandom and as long as it’s for personal use, feel free to enjoy it how you want.

I just have a few requests (which are not for me really, but for most other content creators as well)

My first condition really is you just keep credit where credit is due when printing fanfiction or even just sharing the fic (particularly when quoting) like just keep that author’s name down there under the title or if you’re reposting or tweeting, make sure to link or make sure to keep the author visible.

I personally don’t mind having my stuff quoted or shared without my name or link under but I just think that separating an author from their work just sets a dangerous precedence.

For one, I believe all content creators should be appreciated for the hard work they do and appreciation isn’t so hard anyway since it’s just a small name under a title right?

Also as a reader and as a research geek, I just like knowing where my stuff comes from for further reading. I’m in love with sources. I read footnotes and bibliographies when I read papers and I like opening up blackholes of articles over one lead. So something to take note of.

And pls ask permission from the the content creator

The reason behind this is because writing fanfiction brings about some legal issues due to copyright especially when money is involved. I mean guys, we’re just lucky Yams isn’t Anne Rice 2.0

Because of that, Not all authors and content creators are open to this because they understandably want full management of their works and in case companies decide to tighten their grip on copyrights etc, a lot of authors are ready to take down everything. (But ao3 is working hard to make sure this doesn’t become reality so please appreciate the ao3 legal team)

So it will be very much appreciated if you ask before you repost or print (or not really if it’s for personal use but for credit’s sake just keep the author name visible) so at least authors are aware where their fics are and readers are aware who wrote it.

I don’t really know if other authors and artists are uncomfortable with the links of their works being shared but one way I do go about resharing is I personally think it’s okay to just drop a link on a post or a tweet, no previews, let the readers go to the website where it is actually posted to see the actual work.

Okay, for me, you don’t have to ask anymore. I dropped all my stuff on ao3 and tumblr knowing full well this is a public domain. My only condition is really if anyone reshares or prints my stuff, as long as there’s a link or there’s credit I honestly don’t mind.

I would probably still appreciate it if people asked though since I like knowing where the fruits of my blood, sweat and tears go but I probably wouldn’t mind too much if I just found some reader one day with a physical copy of my work.

Just don’t earn money from it pls.

But it’s not the money issue, I don’t mind the money too much and I never intended to earn money at all word vomiting into ao3 and I never plan on monetizing my fandom activities really. I’m more scared of the legal implications involved with adding money to the mix.

But yes, you may print my stuff. You may share my stuff. Just as long as credit is due and as long as the original posted in a link. If you plan on reposting my actual content, i would appreciate if people asked permission but low key I probably would laugh it off if I found some of my stuff posted online.

Sorry if this went in all directions at once, I recently found a fic I wrote back in high school recently reposted to another website under a different author and this ask kinda had me thinking about that.

Like I didn’t think too much of the reposting, I just laughed it off and I ended up thinking ‘woah, I’m actually worth plagiarizing asdfghjk’ because it’s been years since I actually wrote for that fandom? But I know that a lot of other content creators would definitely not be okay seeing their work under a different creator or posters name without proper credit so I’ll put my foot down with the PLEASE CREDIT just because I want all other authors and artists appreciated and given the proper credit and respect as well.

On a side note...

Just to share, I have something similar to what you have anon. I keep an ebook library on my ebook reader of my favorite fics. There’s this app called calibre which works similarly to itunes in making it loads easier to organize fic. And since ao3 makes it incredibly easy to download ebook files, I would just download them, organize them in calibre and push them to my kindle.

So, most of the fics I reread rn, are also on my kindle and for people who don’t have the means to print or line them on a huge shelf, putting the fics on calibre and just pushing them to an ebook reader like a kindle, almost simulates the whole book reading experience since the kindle has a paper white interface and the backlight can be turned off. (Not sure with other ebook readers since I’ve always been a kindle gal)

I actually have my own personal physical book compilation of all my favorite Levihan fanfictions (with all authors permissions granted) on my shelf right now and I will be keeping it for a very long time so that one day I can indoctrinate my children into the levihan cult.

Ohh, this gave me drug lord!peter / mechanic!tony vibes (you can find that verse here & here). Thanks so much for the prompt, I hope the angst is what you were looking for!

warnings: mentions of violence, Tony has mad PTSD.

Being on the arm of one of the biggest drug kingpins on the east coast was never something Tony sought out for himself. For the most part, he led a pretty simple life. He had the garage and a few friends that he trusted enough to work in his place of sanctuary; until he met Peter, the thought of needing anything else never crossed his mind.

Fate worked in weird ways, though – in one fell swoop, Tony found himself the boyfriend of Peter Parker, drug lord of the Upper East Side. No matter how much he tried to extricate himself from the situation when everything started, Peter crawled under his skin, the man there now – his life forever changed because of it.

There were many great things about being with Peter. In his entire day’s work, the man probably dealt with more bull shit than Tony surrounded himself with in a decade. When Peter got home, he wanted to give up control and place it eagerly at Tony’s feet. There was nothing like it – being looked at like he had the key to unlocking every hidden desire Peter never thought he had or wanted. The pure devotion of loving and being loved by a man that did not give his heart to just anyone – it was intoxicating.

Peter also had a penchant for interesting conversation and learning as much as he could about a subject. After Tony picked him up because of a flat tire, Peter demanded he teach him how to do it – it was a life skill that everyone needed to know, he remembered him saying. He posed the question with heated kisses and the closeness of his body – Tony couldn’t possibly say no to a request like that.

In a lot of ways, Peter Parker was everything Tony wanted. The demands on his back were minimal, he got to have glorious sex with a gorgeous man, and he satisfied his soul. There was something to be said about that – Tony’s life was far from easy, his entire being restless most of the time. Peter brought a sense of calm with him that didn’t make sense but felt good all the same.

Truthfully, the only shitty part about being with Peter was the imminent danger they were always in. After getting kidnapped, Tony started to really pay attention to all of the interactions around him. Peter’s crew was used to him being there, so they didn’t bother trying to filter their thoughts around him. Most nights were filled with protection detail and surveillance – everyone involved with the operation waiting to strike when the other shoe dropped. Sometimes it did, mostly with a lot of shots fired and a few dead bodies.

And sometimes, it didn’t – every now and again there’d be peace to soak up and enjoy.

No matter what, though – Tony was in it for the long haul. Even if he wanted to (which he didn’t, he really, really didn’t,) there wasn’t leaving the crew now that he was so deeply tangled within it. He’d never once gone out on a job or taken any sort of payment, but that didn’t matter – Peter came with a price that everyone needed to pay, Tony included.

Those thoughts were floating around in his head all day. They’d both been particularly on edge the last couple of days – Peter was expecting a delivery, the man a little edgier than usual. Things were easy to handle when Peter touched back down to Earth and took them hand-in-hand with Tony. Shit got hard when Tony was forced to wade through the waters of a world he didn’t really know very well all by himself.

It’d been hot in the shop that day, so Tony stopped off in his apartment before heading to Peter’s place. In the 18 months they’d been together, Tony hadn’t spent a night in the big bed he splurged on a few years back in quite some time. The whole debacle of getting stuffed in the back of a car, being severely beat up, and shot at made the thought of sleeping anywhere but in the protection of Peter’s presence less than appealing. He rarely even stepped foot in the place these days, most of his stuff tucked into the dresser he’d been using for what felt like forever.

Stepping through the door, Tony immediately felt like something was off. His skin prickled, a hand moving to his hip to press against the gun he kept on his person at all times now. With his coveralls tied around his waist, he had perfect access to it if the need struck. Swiftly kicking off his boots, Tony trailed into the room, his footsteps light now without the clunky footwear. He kept his head on a swivel, his eyes wide as he looked around the room.

The further he walked into the room, the harder Tony’s heart started to thud against his chest. It seemed silly, being so paranoid in his own home – but he’d been pulled from the most unlikely of places before and couldn’t be too careful. Opening the door to his room, he sucked in a deep breath, his forehead breaking out in a sweat. The room was pitch black, the only light in the room coming from the wide open window. Frowning, Tony took a step in the room only to backpedal out a moment later.

Below the open window was a set of boot prints that did not belong to him.

Heart in his throat, Tony slipped his work boots back on and quickly left the apartment. His hands shook as he pulled his phone out of his pocket to dial Peter’s number. Tony knew the man had a lot on his plate, but this seemed important, another person coming after him – the end goal here more than likely Peter and the enterprise he juggled so precariously at such a young age.

It only took one ring for Peter to pick up. “Tony, what’s wrong? I was expecting you to walk in the door any minute,” Peter said, his voice picking up an octave, the worry in his tone evident.

“I think there was someone in my apartment. I stopped in to take a shower and grab a jacket I’d been wanting to wear from my closet. When I unlocked the door, something felt off. My bedroom window was wide open, Pete. Wide open with a set of boot prints on the floor below it. I got out of there as fast as I could. I’m scared, Pete. There was someone in my house.” Tony didn’t take a breath the entire time he spoke, his chest heavy by the time he was done.

He heard Peter inhale sharply, the sound audible, even through the phone. “You’ve got to be kidding me. Do you want me to have Happy come and pick you up? He can be there in a couple of minutes,” Peter replied. Tony could hear the gears grinding – his boyfriend probably already planning something.

Sighing, Tony ran a grease stained hand through his hair – now that he could hear Peter’s voice, he already felt a little better. “No, it’s alright. I’m going to head over there now. Just keep your head up, alright? If they’re coming after me, it’s to get to you.”

They hung up the phone a couple of minutes later, Tony packing himself into his truck and cranking the music loud to play over the thoughts that were running across the forefront of his mind. There were a few things not sitting right in the pit of his stomach – the intrusion to his house setting his nerves on fire, his kidnapping still so fresh, so present in his thoughts.

Tony pulled into the driveway and slammed his truck in park, his feet carrying him impatiently through the door on the side of the house, Happy letting him through without a second look or thought. Peter would be heading out soon to supervise the delivery, after everything with Doom, the man was extra careful and took to making sure things ran smoothly without outsider influence.

Glad to have made it back before the crew headed out, Tony let out a sigh when Peter’s arms wrapped around him. The dual guns strapped across Peter’s back dug into his chest a little with Peter holding him so close, but he didn’t care – having this proximity was more than enough in that moment.

Pulling back, Tony cupped his cheeks, his fingers gripping harder than usual. “Be careful, Pete. Promise me,” Tony whispered, the fact that Happy and several other members on Peter’s payroll were in the room not registering.

Peter leaned forward and drew him into a kiss, the touch tender. “I’ll do my best. It’ll be okay, baby. Happy is doing most of the work, anyway,” Peter mumbled, the man only pulling away enough to speak. “See you when I get back. I love you.” He wrapped his arms around Tony’s waist and gave him a brief squeeze.

“I love you too, Pete,” Tony managed to get out before Peter was pulling away, a forced smile on his lips. He reached out to snag Peter’s hand, fingers holding on until the time to let go couldn’t be ignored anymore. Tony turned to watch the flood of guys leaving the room, Peter bringing up the tail end.

“Wait up for me,” Peter threw over his shoulder, the man turning to look at Tony one more time before walking out the door.

Tony did his best not to be nervous throughout the rest of the night. There were a few guards outside the door, so he was perfectly safe within the confines of the house. His mind ran through all the different possibilities of the harm that could come to Peter over and over again – the prints in his house throwing him off way more than he originally realized. He hadn’t felt this jittery since his kidnapping.

A lot of time past – there was no denying that when midnight turned into 2AM, which slowly trickled into 4AM, that things might not be as okay as he expected. All of his text messages had been ignored, that in and of itself a little unusual. The situation must have gone bad – the entire list of instances getting ticked off one by one, regardless of the fact that he literally had no fucking clue what was happening.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, Tony leaned forward, his elbows settling into the muscle of his thighs. Both hands were in his hair and before he knew it, he was crying – his chest shaking, the tears streaming down his cheeks like water from a faucet. The choking sobs made the muscles in his stomach hurt; at this point, his entire body ached from the lack of sleep and overabundance of nerves that refused to stop rushing over him in waves.

Time didn’t matter in the state he was in – his soul needed the cleanse, so he let the tears come. He was scared to turn on the TV, to check his phone, to even think now that the possibilities seemed more real than before. It’d been almost twelve hours without any communication – that was not standard operating procedure, not when Peter knew how on edge he already felt.

What could have been seconds, or minutes, or hours later, Tony felt the bed shift, a warm arm enveloping him, Peter’s scent there and real – the man alive and well despite the bumps, scrapes, and bruises that littered his face and neck. Thankfully the tears stopped falling sometime during his break down – his boyfriend didn’t need to see his complete lack of control and composure. One of the things Peter liked about him was his ability to handle every situation, even if it scared the living shit out of him.

“I’m so fucking glad you’re here,” Tony mumbled, his head turning to press into the skin of Peter’s neck. His own arms wrapped around the other’s middle and pulled him as close as he could. Maybe he didn’t deal with his kidnapping enough – the neediness overtaking him speaking louder than the courage he portrayed on a daily basis. Falling apart like this, it didn’t feel normal.

“I’m here, baby – I’m here.” He shifted, pulling back to get a better look at Tony – his gravelly voice probably giving him away. “You’ve been crying. I can tell.” Peter moved the hand wrapped around Tony’s shoulder to his cheek, the action separating them a little more. “I’m here, Tony – it’s okay. I promise, it’s okay.” Peter pressed a kiss to his nose, then each cheek before finally landing on his lips – the caress tender and slow, Peter’s lips soft against his own.

“I don’t think I’m okay, Pete,” Tony admitted, his eyes dropping, the idea of locking gazes with the man before him a little intimidating – he’d never said anything like that to another person in his entire life. The shame of weakness washed over him. Tony always kept it together, he could defy or outsmart anything; except, it seemed, PTSD.

Peter let his thumb slip across Tony’s cheek, the softest look in his eyes Tony could ever remember seeing. His head was nodding, eyes tearing up slightly.

“I know.”

CHAPTER 6 - No-Bra Girl

Your room was way too bright, did you forgot to close the windows the night before? You woke up annoyed, feeling like you could sleep for 5 more hours at least, but something inside you said you shouldn’t. You extended your arm to your bedside table to try and reach for your phone, but came up empty. Still dazed, you opened your eyes and took a look around: yup, the curtains were left wide open, and by how bright it was, even for a winter day, you could tell the sun has been up for a while. Alice was still asleep on her bed on the other side of the room, you noticed she had the patience of getting into her pijamas, while you only bothered to take off your jeans and bra and fell asleep wearing the same shirt you had on the night before. Oh! The night before! You knew you should’ve said no to the going out after Hoseok’s performance, but how could you say no to Jimin when he was so happy that he didn’t mess up the backup dancing? Hobi too, was so happy to finally deliver what he had been practicing the entire semester, you just had to go. But you surely didn’t need to drink as much as you did.

You got up with a groan and stretched your back, walking over to Alice’s bed to look for her purse. It was on the floor besides her, as always, and you checked it to see if she had your phone. When you realized it wasn’t there you decided to nudge her just to ask, you knew you needed it for something, you just couldn’t remember what now. Alice turned around, not yet awake, and you nudged her again.

“Hey, Al, do you have my phone?” You whispered, when she seemed more awake.

“Huh?” She opened one of her eyes and looked for your face.

“My phone. I can’t find it, do you have it?” Noticing the confused look in your friend’s face you continued “from last night, you must have took it when we got out”

“Have you checked my purse?” She opened her other eye and letted out a yawn.

You signaled ‘yes’ with your head “it's not there either”. Alice frowned and turned to pick up her stuff, looking once again.

“Then I don’t have it, love, you must have forgotten it at the bar, maybe check if one of the boys have it?” She took her own phone from under her pillow and gave it to you, and you dialed the first number you found: Yoongi’s, obviously.

It rang until it reached his voice mail, and the same happened with every single boy you called next. You began trying to call you own number, hoping whoever had it was a nice enough person to give it back, but with no luck still. You kept calling their numbers and after almost half an hour of it, Alice stopped you.

“They're probably passed out, your phone will appear eventually.” She took her own device back from you. “Maybe focus on studying?”

And that’s when it hit you: all your notes were on your phone. You kept them there so it was easier to study on the go, instead of taking notes in your computer like everyone else. And you had a final in two days and already lost half of all the braincells you could spare that morning in search of one of your stupid friends and brothers. And so the panic ensued. You started to hyperventilate immediately and could tell Alice noticed when her eyes grew twice as big as they usually were.

“What happened? What’s wrong?” She took your hands in hers, a method she learned would help someone to focus. It worked on you for a split second, but then you were back to panicking. There was no way you could have all the work done and all the notes taken again in time for the test, you’d fail and have to repeat the entirety of the class and then you’d mess up all your curriculum and have to postpone other classes to still maybe graduate on time and you knew you had to graduate on time otherwise there would be no way you could maintain yourself without your parent’s help and being the youngest you knew they were getting fed up with their children needing stuff all the time and- “Hey, y/n. Breathe.”

You took a deep breath on auto-pilot and finally focused on Alice on her knees in front of you. “All my notes are on my phone, I really need it today.”

“Ok, I’ll drive to Yoongi’s and see if he has it, I have a key to his place, I’m sure we can find it.” She stood up, and you realized she was already showered and dressed, probably doing it all while you called the guys non stop. “I'll come back as soon as possible, I’m taking my phone but keep your computer on so I can message you on facebook if I find out anything” she gave you a peck on the head and left without looking back.

You started to pace around the room, but finally you realized it was to no use and took your books to the living room, sitting on the floor by the coffee table to try and redo all your work, just in case your phone was lost forever.

Jungkook woke up earlier then he wished he did, but he was getting late on school work because of all the practices and end-of-year games he was playing, so he had to make the best out of his weekends. He had a test on Monday and although it wasn’t a final, yet, it still accounted for a good amount of his grade. He also needed to tidy up the place and get his laundry done. There were few things in life that Jungkook took as seriously as his laundry, he just couldn’t stand dirty clothes piling up and his worst nightmare came through when the washing machine in his building broke. Lucky for him, the dorms were closer than the boy’s place and Alice was nice enough to give him clearance to use the machines that were on the basement, and so he had been doing for a while.

He parked his car as close as he could to the entrance and noticed Alice’s wasn’t in it’s usual place. He went straight to the basement, taking his clothes with him in a white laundry sack. Getting there it wasn’t hard to spot the machine assigned to your floor. The building had three rooms per floor and a machine for each of them, with a couple baskets provided and a schedule on the wall. The time assigned for Alice and you was mornings, but you usually washed your clothes late night, after the other room had taken theirs out, so you wouldn’t have to wait there, just having to return the next morning to retrieve your clean itens. Jungkook didn’t knew this when he first started taking his clothes there, just assuming one of you was faster then him in the mornings.

It was Alice that explained this habit of yours to him, and told him she usually just took your belongings out and left on the basket on top of the machine, so you’d just come and collect it later. He started to do the same and for the first couple of times it was all innocent, but he grew annoyed fairly quick and, just as a small social experiment, started to take an item of your clothing every time he found the washing machine filled with your stuff. It wasn’t supposed to go on for as long as it did, but you never noticed and so he kept going. It has been almost a month now, and he had already filled a drawer at his place with your stuff; mismatched socks, a few shirts, a pair of jeans he knew you liked and even a bra once, granted, but he only took it because the thought of you, at 21, still wearing bras with cute animal printed on them amused him to his core.

He did the same that day, picking up a grey sweater he had seen you wearing a lot lately and putting it inside his bag. He took out his phone to listen to some music while he waited, and realized he had a few missed calls from Alice, and a message on the group chat asking if anyone had seen your phone. He almost forgot about it this morning, but at the last second he remembered to take it with him to drop it off to you. He had done nothing bad to it, just took a couple of selfies so you’d remember who saved your ass when you retrieved it, and just before he could do anything else, another message popped up on the group chat.

Alice (yg gf): srsly guys, where are you? Alice (yg gf): I’m @ Yoongi’s and he’s not here?? Alice (yg gf): Has anyone seen anyone? Alice (yg gf): Jungkook doesn’t seem to be home either??? Alice (yg gf): unless,,,, is he dead? Did any of you finally ended him? Alice (yg gf): (jk JK, ily) Alice (yg gf): aha jk jk, got it? I’m so funny lol

Jungkook chuckled to himself and began to type, but someone else was faster.

RM hyung: what got into you this morning? Alice (yg gf): Finally! Do you know where’s everybody? RM hyung: Nope RM hyung: Just got home, there’s no one here Alice (yg gf): wtf where’s everyone? Your sister’s freaking out RM hyung: ?? Alice (yg gf): she lost her phone Alice (yg gf): all of her notes were on it RM hyung: let me shower and I’ll send her what I have from last year Alice (yg gf): yeah do that Alice (yg gf): and pls let me know if you find anyone else Alice (yg gf): I’m going to Jin’s to see if there’s anyone there RM hyung: for sure RM hyung: ttyl

Jungkook locked his phone and took yours from his other pocket, climbing the stairs to your floor so he could return it to you. He only ringed the doorbell twice before you opened the door. Your hair was a mess and he could tell you still haven’t showered. You were wearing the same shirt as the night before and a pair of sweater pants, and the look you gave him when you opened the door warned him you were not in a good mood.

“Hey..?” He greeted you, uncertain.

“What do you want?” He widened his eyes at your rude response and you felt a bit bad and took a deep breath “I'm just having a terrible morning"

“Something related to this?” Jungkook lifted your phone so you could see it and you grabbed it immediately. It had run out of battery but it sure was yours. “You’re welcome."

“Oh my god I’ve been looking for this all morning” you stepped back inside, going to your room to retrieve your charger and turn your phone back on as soon as possible. “You have no idea the hell I’ve been in without it”

Jungkook followed you, closing the front door behind him. He took in the mess you made out of the living room. There was a cup of probably cold coffee staining the glass table and your books were open everywhere. Your laptop was also open but on the sofa, and he could see the messenger tab opened in Alice’s contact and way more blue messages then gray ones, so you must’ve been spamming her without a break ever since she left. There was a blanket on the floor, even though the heater was on a very high temperature, and he picked up a pink marker on his way to your room that he believed was in your hand just seconds before.

“Really why can’t you pick up your phone?” You plugged in your phone but it wouldn’t turn on just yet, so you were pacing around, picking up stuff and dropping it again, clearly anxious and trying to occupy your hands with something “I've been freaking out since I woke up, you could’ve at least texted Alice last night to tell her you had it. I have to tell her you’re here, she’s driving around town looking for any of you, really, what happened after we left for you all to disappear? Yoongi hates to sleep over anywhere that’s not his house, oh great, now I’m worried something bad happened to anyone else. But if it was serious we would know, right? I just really have to focus on the test I have monday, I can’t stress with anyone else’s business. That’s why I never had friends, they’re so much work! Now I have to worry about weather Jimin and Hobi and oh God even my brothers, I have no idea where they are either and I can’t even begin to-"

Jungkook couldn’t stand your pacing around anymore, and as much as he tried to grab your attention to explain, you never. stopped. talking. So he did the only thing he could think of that would surely shut you up: he kissed you. And you know what? You kissed him back. But only for a second before you pushed him away.

“What the fuck?” You were trying to catch your breath. If because of all the talking or the kiss not even you were sure, but Jungkook had this smug smile on his face and you just hated it.

“I couldn’t shut you up” He stated, like it was nothing.

“Never do that again! What if anyone find’s out oh no they already think there’s something weird between us now is not the time to-“… and he kissed you again. But now he had his hands on your waist, pulling you closer, and you took a little longer to react.

“Will you stop?” You pushed him away, confused about the whole situation.

“You were going to start spiraling again, I’m just doing preventive control”

“I'm not going to deal with this now” you turned around, searching your phone again, but it was still dead. You pretended to check the cord, that you knew for sure was just fine, but could still feel Jungkook’s eyes on you. “Stop looking at me.”

“I'm not.” Jungkook deviated way too fast, just giving you the confirmation that he really was watching.

“What are you still doing here, anyway?” You turned back at him and he had his hand on his back, scratching mindless, the motion lifted his shirt just enough for you to peek at his v line. He wasn’t looking at you, so he didn’t notice it, but when your eyes finally locked, you could see there was something there that was new.

“I don’t know, really. Waiting to see if I have to shut you up again…?” He gave you a boyish smile, and although you tried to remain annoyed, the corner’s of your mouth gave you away. “You liked it.” His smile grew.

“No I didn’t" you were quick to answer this time, trying to get out of your room and back to your studies, but Jungkook held your waist again, softer this time, and made you look at him.

“I can do it again” it was barely a whisper, but you were close enough that you understood it perfectly. You couldn’t deny that the kiss did indeed shut your mind up for a bit, as well as your mouth, and it would be nice to have the distraction. You stood on the tip of your toes and started getting closer to him. But you also had to study quite a lot that day, and Alice would be back any second now.

Jungkook noticed your uncertainty and, before he himself could think too much about this, he closed the distance between the two of you.

This kiss lasted longer, at first he was shy, but when you reciprocated, the both of you established a rhythm and he opened his mouth to deepen the kiss, to which you responded doing the same. He had one of his hands still on your waist and the other at the back of your neck, pulling you closer. You had both of yours on his chest, filling him up a little, you admitted. The first move came from you, lowering your fingers through his torso, stopping just at the hem of his shirt. He broke off the kiss and took a good look at your face. Your pupils had doubled in size and a silent question was asked. The answer was your lips back on his. There was anger in the touch, but also passion. You started to kiss his neck and he freed one of his hands only to untie the knot on your sweater pants and make his way in between your legs, starting to move his fingers in circles over your panties. You never saw someone take off their pants as fast as Jungkook took his, but you were quick to follow.

He didn’t know how to react at the sudden change of mood, and could just lay there, watching you get as far from him as possible. Was he that bad at sex? He was sure he wasn’t. Granted, this time wasn’t his best, but he could tell you were enjoying just a moment ago.

You walked to your phone to check what was on it once you were fully dressed again, and with you peripheral vision you could see Jungkook getting up to put on his clothes too. Aside from a few social media notifications, and a few messages from your classmates either asking you for your notes or sending you theirs, it wasn’t much. That is, until you saw a few texts from Alice.

“You have to go” you didn’t even look at Jungkook and you had no time to worry about hurting his feelings right now “Alice is coming”

“Oh shit, okay.” He only had his shirt left to put back and as he was doing it you got a final glance of his abs. Damn it y/n now was really not the time. “We should talk about this though” Did he catch you staring? From the smirk on his face, probably. But again: now was not the time.

“I was stressed, you were there, no big deal, we talked, now please go” you said while walking to your front door, with Jungkook trailing behind.

“No, I mean it” he was annoyed “I don’t want to make things weird” you took a deep breath with your back turned to him. You didn’t want things to get weird either, and you knew it was best if the two of you took a minute to talk about it, but the thought of Alice getting home and sensing something had happened was mortifying and you didn’t want to risk it.

“It's not weird” you turned to him then, but you didn’t sound convincing at all “really, we’re good, nothing changed, I still find you an asshole, but we’re friends, let’s stay friends, alright?” His lips were pressed together in a thin line and you could not guess what he was thinking at all, but he nodded his head and grabbed his bag he had left by your entrance door. You felt bad all over again so, just as he was leaving you grabbed the hem of his shirt and made him look back at you “we're okay, right?”

He took a second to answer “yeah, we’re okay.” He didn’t change his expression, but you could tell he was genuine, so you let go of him and he left. You closed the door, but only felt relieved once you heard the heavy door of the stairs closing behind him.

You probably stayed a second too long leaning on your door, collecting your thoughts, but your phone started ringing and you noticed it was Namjoon, probably receiving all your facebook messages at once and wondering if you were alive. You would worry about Jungkook some other time, you had a final to ace.

…But you should probably take a shower first and relieve the rest of your stress.

Jungkook got back to the laundry room to get his things, but he didn’t even remember getting there. He was the type of person that liked cuddling after sex, even if it was just a one night stand. He really wasn't used to being thrown out as fast as you did him, and he couldn’t tell if you were really okay or if you hated him. For fuck’s sake, you were his friend's sister, what kind of mess was he getting himself into? By the time he reached the machine, he had already convinced himself that your reaction, although annoying, rude and a little bit hurtful to his ego, was probably for the best. He was removing his clothes from the washing machine when he noticed yours, still on the basket he had put them in. It would probably be there for a while and you would probably forget about it until Alice finds it and brings it up to you.

Without a second thought, he grabbed the basket and dumped all that was on it onto his bag with his stuff. He closed it with a bit of difficulty and got the hell out of there. Jungkook was no thief, he always intended to give you your clothes back, and that hasn’t changed. He was just thinking of a more creative way to do so, now.

Stray Kids reaction to their s/o writing poems

🙂I hope you don’t mind, I only went with poem so there wouldn’t be any bias in the reactions idk sorry! Anyways thank you for requesting, love🙂

Scenario: for their birthday this year (your first year together) you wanted to get him something special. Only trouble was, you didn’t have any money. You decided to write him a poem instead, it came from the heart and you were really proud. They read it as soon as you give it to them...

Bang Chan:

He read it over and over again. You’d been stood waiting for a response for a while but he couldn’t believe what he was reading. The poem said exactly what you were feeling, and the emotions you experienced when you were with him, and Chan could tell, he felt the same way too. He looked up at you, a certain wetness in his eyes, if he didn’t hug you now, you’d see him cry which he didn’t want. His head rested in your neck for while, he couldn’t get over the talent you had. He tucked the poem into his hoodie’s pocket, later taking it out and putting it with all his other cute stuff about you including printed selfies and mini golf score sheets.

“Your talent... y/n... you shouldn’t waste it!”

Woojin:

As he read over it, his lips formed a smile. Soon a small tear dropped onto the paper, followed by one or two more. After he’d read over it he looked up at you. His eyes made contact with yours, his smile still present, not showing any sign of budging. He let out a small thank you. He didn’t care for materials, if he had you that was enough. The fact that you bestowed a little bit of you passion and talent to him meant the world to him, he treasured it and you dearly. He’d read some of your work before, in his opinion however, this was your best. He folded the poem up, kissing it gently before putting it onto the table besides him. He put his forehead to yours, mouthing “I love you” as he did so. It wasn’t long before you two were kissing.

“You mean the world to me, I hope you know that”

Lee Know:

He cried. A lot. Minho puts up this facade of a sassy boy, but this really broke him. He didn’t care if anyone was watching. The only way he thought he could truly show his gratitude was to cry. Showing his emotions to thank you for showing him yours. He hugged you tightly, sighing and sniffling somehow at the same time, or close together more understandably. Minho thought he’d prefer an actual present, but in reality, this was the best thing he could ever ask for. The whole day the words of the poem would go round his mind, smiling like a fool whenever he thought about it, or you.

“How am I supposed to find something better for your birthday, huh?”

Changbin:

Cutie binnie activated. His eyes would go big and soft, a huge smile plastered across his lips. He’d sigh, feeling his eyes well up before releasing the river of tears. If there was one person who could make him happy cry, it was you. The poem meant so much to him. Not only was it something he took on tour with him to remind himself of you, it was something he took to work for inspiration, something he used to tease you, something he used to show off to his friends how great you were. God forbid he ever lost that poem, which he wouldn’t, he’d made 839 copies before his birthday was even over.

“You didn’t have to, you know? But I’m really glad you did”

Hyunjin:

His eyes scanned the poem for the 6th time. Each time he read it he looked up at you in disbelief, his mouth wide open. He didn’t know you wrote poems, but now he did there was no stopping him from reading everything you wrote. Most of it was about him which made him extra soft. The poems expressed feelings that Hyunjin had hoped you’d felt. You weren’t very good at voicing your emotions, neither was he, but now he’d found a way to find out what you were really feeling. Sometimes he’d read them in secret, well he thought it was secretive but you knew he was reading them when he started to quote them jokingly.

“How long have you been feeling like this for, baby?”

Han:

A big smooch was coming your way. His chapstick made your cheek feel greasy but you didn’t mind, your boyfriend was happy and so were you. He never stopped thanking you for the poem. It was the main inspiration for his songs for a while, often stealing lines from it, with your permission. He was the luckiest man alive and he wanted you and everyone else to know, even if it was cheesy whenever he told your parents that. You can bet your ass he’ll bring it up in your wedding speech, in a teasing manner but also kinda serious.

“They wrote me a poem for my birthday once, I have it here, but I’m not reading it because it’s mine”

Felix:

He’d hug you immediately. Silly, immature Felix went out of the window. He pulled back and held your hands in his, they were clammy but they were soft as always. All he could do was stare, stare into your eyes. His eyes were big, deer like some may say. Not once did he stop smiling. The poem you wrote was quite honestly the best present he’d ever received, he was a really lucky guy and he knew it. The backpack he took everywhere was home to your poem after that, every night when he returned to the dorms he’d check if it was still in there. It was comforting to have at hand at all times, especially after a long or hard day.

“You’re the best thing that ever happened to this world”

Seungmin:

What a skill you had. It most certainly didn’t go unrecognised to Seungmin. At first he’d tease you about it, jokingly of course. But pretty quickly he’d be complimenting you and your talents. If you tried to deny how good it really was he’d get super annoyed, screwing the poem up slightly then hating himself for ruining the paper. He’d most definitely asked you somewhere along the line to write a poem together. Surprisingly, it unsurprisingly, you weren’t quite sure, he was good at writing poems too, but really he’d just been practicing in hopes it would impress you. If you ever entered a competition, which he’d encourage you to, he’d be there watching, smiling proudly in the audience.

“Use the poem you wrote for my birthday, a guaranteed win!”

I.N:

His mouth was wide, much like his eyes. Your talent was insane, he cursed that he’d never read your work before. He wouldn’t stop thanking you for about an hour, then getting to work on his own poem for you. He tried his hardest to write one to your standard, soon realising it was impossible to write as good as you. Yet still he presented to you his poem, proud that he’d actually managed to do something to thank you. A simple thank you wouldn’t have satisfied Jeongin, he had to do more. He later asked for your help to write a poem, a poem for you both to keep with you to remind you of each other. You really brought out his creative side and he was thankful for that.

“You and me, like a tree, together always, even sundays. How was it y/n? Did you like it?!”

How to take a joke sometimes or make one, and how to adapt to live as fully and openly as you can be (even if it seems terrifying, you’re still a part of this world)

Don’t be so isolated if you can help it 💕 It doesn’t help with ur emotionality, if u learn how to let the water go, instead of controlling it’s direction/stream/constrain it. it’ll be better for you as well 💕

Ahhh and one more thing: being a loner/tsundere character in an anime is only useful when its life-death circumstance. you are not, you’re part of this world and you’re required to have SOME sociability skills that are more open than this 💕 pls remember to let flourish this way too 💕

Some of these will not apply to many people so pls take them with a grain of salt. Also I’ve been collecting these pretty much for the two years I’ve been in college so it’s not a guide, they’re just… random I guess.

Making friends

Warning - specially tailored for super shy people aka me

There’s a thing called the ‘first week window of endless oportunities’. It’s when groups are still forming and everyone’s desperate to make friends. This is the time to put your best self forward (I’m not saying be fake, just a little extra friendly).

Leave. Your. Door. Open. Do it. Even if you have a roommate. Best way to make friends the first week.

Actually get out of your room. You’re not going to meet many people if you hole up in your room. If you have a tv room or people are watching a movie, I don’t care if you’re not interested in what they’re watching, go.

If you have the balls to go to the room nextdoor and introduce yourself then you probably can skip this section by all means do it!

But if you don’t, going from door to door asking for help with your laundry takes a lot less courage + you will learn how to do laundry. Asking to borrow something (pencil, hair tie, hair dryer) also works.

If you’re staying at a residence hall, ask to sit with people at lunch! Nobody is going to say no, i promise.

Similarly if you see someone alone, ask them to have lunch with you!

Also if you meet someone you get along with, as soon as you can, ask for their number ‘so you can go to the dinning hall together’.

Remember people’s names - it makes people feel like you actually care about them. I know it’s hard but make an effort. Also it just gets annoying when someone asks about your name for the fourth time. Use mnemonics if you have to.

Asking what someone’s major is and where they’re from is standard procedure when you meet them but it doesn’t make for an interesting conversation. Think of other questions!

Make sure to arrive about 10 min early to your classes. There’ll be very few people and so it’ll be easier to strike up a conversation (actually people will probably talk to you without you having to say anything which is g r e a t)

Say yes - as a rule of thumb, your social life should prevail over your academic life the first two weeks. This is the time where you’re not really pressed for time. Say yes to watching movies, say yes to going to lunch, say yes to going to campus events (and even to parties). Obviously don’t do anything that makes you really unconfortable but do try to step out of your comfort zone

Make friends with an upper-classman from your same major. Or at least be on speaking terms. Talk to them on Facebook, ask them about your major, just use any random idc excuse to introduce yourself, it doesn’t really matter how you do it.

Don’t go home every weekend, even if you live close by. You’ll miss out on the best of campus life and some of the most fun memories with your new friends.

Keeping your old friends

If you know you’re going home for the weekend, try to finish most of your assignments/studying and make time to hang out with your friends. Spending time with them is the best way to keep those friendships alive.

But! Don’t worry too much if you can’t come home or make time for your friends too often, you just have to make an effort to text them regularly. It will come naturally if it’s your best friend, but don’t forget to set a reminder to text other close friends at least once every two weeks.

You may think you don’t care now but you will once you come home for the summer.

If any of your friends are staying in your hometown for college, be ready for them to get another friend group. That doesn’t mean they’ve forgotten about you, but don’t be mad if they seem to have a lot more plans that don’t involve you. You can always ask to tag along some time and maybe even become friends with these people!

Some people you’ll just lose contact with. Don’t fret it.

Organization

Please print out or buy a calendar that has a whole page for each month. With boxes preferably *shameless plug*. You may think you have it all under control but there’s nothing like being able to see all your due dates, hang out plans and laundry days at a glance. (Also js but the pilot frixion are perfect to use on calendars because they’re erasable).

Hampers are love. Hampers are life. Also they’re the only way your clothes won’t end up all over your floor and bed (..and chairs) so get one.

Health

Adding fruit and veggies to all your meals is very easy to do. And very easy to forget.

If you know someone who goes for runs regularly, ask to tag along! You’ll be more likely to keep active if you have someone who’ll drag you outside!

Get a mini fridge (if your dorm doesn’t come with one). It’ll be the best investment you’ll make in your entire college life. Also make sure to check in with your roommate beforehand so tbat you don’t end up having two fridges. And ask if they want to split the cost.

Academics

You will have some crappy professors. When that happens, the solution is not to cry over your (almost inexistent) notes and complain to whatever poor soul will listen.Find your recommended books, take a trip to the library, sneakily get them online.

On that note, you can find PDFs of almost any textbooks online if you just look for ‘textbook name pdf’. Yeah it’s not legal. Neither should be charging 100€ for a textbook. Yeah it’s probably not the latest edition. But email your professor about it, they usually don’t mind.

If your copy shops refuse to print out textbooks, go early in the morning or late at almost-closing time or just at a time where there isn’t anyone else there bc they’re a lot more likely to do it (not saying they will okay but there’s no harm in asking).

If you’re not a morning person, you’re not going to go to that 8am 8/10 times so if you can avoid taking it, do. Yes, you did it in hs but believe me, it’s different

Chances are you will have at least one Ridiculous Professor (a.k.a. one whose tests ask about literally every single detail). This is why it’s a good idea to look for past tests from this professor (or just ask an upper-classman. Seriously just make friends with an upper-classman) ASAP. And then make flashcards like a mad person.

If you’re too sick to get yourself to the ER and attendance is mandatory for that class, email your professor bc most times they won’t even ask for a doctor’s note. If attendance is not mandatory, don’t even bother.

Check how much your assignments are worth. Always. Stop spending time you don’t have on shit that’s worth 5%, just turn in something.

Semesters go by a lot faster because what you learnt in hs in a year, you now have to learn in half the time. My point? Start studying early.

It doesn’t matter how amazing of a student you were in hs, get ready for your grades to drop. How much they drop depends on you.

Partying

Partying may not be your thing and nobody will force you to go out. But I’d say try it at least once (preferably during the first week). Not just because of ‘the experience’ but because you might make some friends that way (I know if I’d stayed home I never would’ve met some of my best friends in college).

You’ll probably end up having to dress up at some point. Don’t leave it until the last minute. Also ask around, group costumes are awesome and you’ll come up with something faster than if you have to think of one on your own.

On a similar note, get a box to put your costumes in! At the end of the year (or when you finish your degree?) you can go through it and remember all the awesome times you had. Also some parts of old costumes will come in handy for new costumes.

This may vary from place to place but generally heels are only for very special ocassions, not a saturday night party.

I know that for some of you it’ll be your first time drinking so some random tips:

Don’t do more than 3 shots of absinthe in one night. DO NOT DO IT CHILD

You’re probably going to have a favorite drink freshman year and you’re most likely never going to want to touch it again by the end of the year. Choose wisely (meaning don’t do vodka because you’ll grow to hate it).

Avoid wearing really dark liquid lipsticks because after just one shot they look absolutely disgusting (butthole effect).

Drinks are expensive so when possible just pre-game (also smol tip - if you want to get the most out of your alcohol, add gummy bears to your pregaming cup. Don’t fucking do this if it’s your first time drinking)

I don’t recommend puking but it’s better than a trip to the emergency room and a convenient solution if you feel like shit.

Put a bottle of water beside your bed before you go out and chug it as soon as you get home. Thank me in the morning.

Hungover lectures are torture. Don’t skip class though, go and record it (ask your professor first obviously)

Depends on how safe your city is, but as a rule of thumb, let someone know if you’re going home and preferably wait until someone else wants to leave so that you don’t have to walk home alone.

Extra

If you need to write an email to a professor do it ASAP. Don’t put it off until let’s say 3AM. Not only won’t they respond in time but they can see what time it was sent.

Turn on nofications for your school email (and if you don’t have one ffs make one).

if your laptop is kinda crappy and slow, get a new one. That thing will become a part of your body, especially in higher years. Freshmen always think they won’t bring it to class to take notes. Ha.

Do Not DO NOT give up your hobbies - I know how overwhelming uni can be but hobbies are a part of who you are. If you erase that, only your major is left. You are not just your major so make time for your hobbies.

If you have a roommate don’t like… use the Attack on Titan opening as your alarm. It will get you a pillow to the head. Applies to any other ‘wake up time to die’ ringtones too.

Also please don’t let you alarm go off for too long because literally everyone on your floor can hear it and that shit is annoying

Just a suggestion but stop drinking coffee every day. That way it’ll be a lot more effective during finals week. (Drink tea instead).

Remember to not be defined by your high school self. Nobody knows that person where you’re going anyway. Is there a certain way you’ve always wanted to dress? Want to dye your hair? Want to try being that person who compliments and smiles at people? Anything you always wanted to try? Now’s the time to do it!

Spring Amiami Haul: YOI goodies and other stuff!

Remember how I keep saying that I’m unemployed and poor as dirt? Well, I still am both things, but money’s not gonna save anyone when the Orange Overlord kills us all so I’ll have my YOI merch with extra avocado pls. Thought it would be cute and funny to let you in on my road to financial self-destruction and maybe convince you to buy some of these things and throw money at Yuri on Ice becuse it might be officially and irrevocably the best selling anime of 2016 but this is Sayokan and she needs ALL THE MONEYZ to make that movie this isn’t quite how anime is made but i believe in principle the more money that gets thrown into any series’s products in any capacity, the more money will get thrown into its production see Attack on Titan. In this post we’ll look at my March and April purchases and cry over how beautiful these things are and how poor I am.

Starting with the March set, which is comparatively smaller

First we have the Yuri!!! on Ice school calendar which I bought basically because I wanted a calendar and the MAPPA one was too costly with shipping charges and I thought I couldn’t make that expense (how innocent I was). It’s a cute lil’ thing, with a few funny things in it and also a bit of design laziness which is a bit sad. To get the bad stuff out of the way first, as you can see, the cover illustration is completely original and our boys are looking very smart in those suits, nothing wrong with that...

except half of the calendar pages are just the same illustration, just individually. So we have Victor alone for one page (June-July), Yurio alone for another and Yuuri alone in the last one. I would’ve rather they used other official illustrations instead of recycling the cover thrice over ):. THe remaining three illustrations are cute, I particularly like the one for December-January, Yuuri looks so pure :3

What’s weird and funny about this calendar is they decided, for some inexplicable reason, to have it all in Russian. The names of the days and months are ALL in Russian, and cyrillic to boot. Idk what they were going for but it’s quirky and unique, so I like it. It’s not like I actively use calendars anyway, I just use them to tear them apart and stick the illustrations on my walls. On to the next item

A relatively simple phone cleaner strap, nothing much to say about it. It’s punipuni like Yuuri’s off-season chub (still can’t believe this is a canon thing) and works good for a quick clean of your screen if you’re not home. This one is currently sold out on Amiami, but they might restock eventually (wow that cost more than I remember, I was so liberal with my money when I had job lol)

The last item from the March haul is this acrylic accessory stand that depicts Yuuri at the end of his free skate in China. I don’t even own or wear any jewelry or accessories, but I just had to have it, it’s so beautiful ;----; Cup of China Yuuri is very important to me, ok? You can see I’m using it to hold my kanzashi and an ear-pick lol. Ngl I thought it would be big enough to hold my smartphone, but it isn’t and I don’t care, he’s beautiful. He’s still available on Amiami, and there are other designs to choose from too. If a girl like me who wears no jewelry could find room for it, I’m sure you can too!

Now, onto the April stuff

Firstly there’s these two cleaning cloths depicting Victor and Yuuri from the first Key visual which I love. I’ve also tested them and they’re really effective, even without cleaning liquid. They’re a bit more plastic-y than the one I had before so they don’t leave any fuzz on the screen, which is gr9. These were kind of a spur of the moment purchase half of my YOI stuff has been spur of the moment purchases because I thought amiami would flat-rate EMS and since I expected the box to be big given how it came with two figures and a coin case and a keychain, I thought SAL would be like 1800ish (what I paid the last time I had a figma and Nendoroid shipped together) and EMS 2000 and figured 200 yen would be worth not having to wait three months for the items to arrive, so I could have the luxury of making it a true huge haul. Turns out 1) There isn’t a flat rate on EMS 2) SAL was only 1300, so I went for SAL and it arrived so fast it was like a Golden Week miracle.

Aaaanyway, these are still available on Amiami, as well as a Yurio variant and they’re also pretty big –you can see they cover the figure boxes-, I recommend them if you’re looking for a new cleaning cloth or smth.

Next we have this adorable Victor keychain which is waaay bigger than I thought it would be I really need to start paying attention to sizes (for reference, from skate to skate he’s about 1 cm shorter than a Nendoroid). I don’t particularly understand the buzz for “Pinched” character goods, but this one I bought at a time in which I was restless because I wanted to throw money at Sayokan but the BDs weren’t affordable at all –even now, counting ALL the YOI shit I’ve preordered, and I’ve shit PO’ed up til August, I don’t even come close to what buying all the BDs would’ve cost- and these keychains came out for preorder and I loved how Victor had his legs so dramatically extended, so I impulse pre-ordered him lol.
