Merry Christmas, @lady-merian !! I absolutely loved your prompts, and I had such a hard time choosing! "Idony dressed as an angel" really stuck out to me, though. I'm imagining her in a Nativity play the orphans are putting on, and as she's standing waiting for her cue she feels the warmth of the candles and Christ's presence surrounding her. A moment of peace in all the hectic clamor.

I pray for joy and a keen sense of Christ's presence for you this Advent season. ❤️ May the Lord bless you and keep you!

Day 4: Topaz with Idony!

@captaingondor, your TSE Secret Santa is done a little later and is a little less polished than I was planning, but I hope it gives you a smile! Merry Christmas, and don't let the weavers shred you to pulled pork.

PROMPT: Marcus and Enel on Christmas morning

“… For - for Bradley Hand’s sake, Enel! What are you even doing here? You – you just put that candle up to the clock right this minute, and tell me what time it is!”

“Four-ish.”

“God himself isn’t up at this hour!”

“But Marcus, I thought you didn’t believe in God.”

“That’s complicated. And doesn’t impact my statement. And really isn’t that important compared to the fact that you just woke me up at four in the morning. Mrs. St. Claire would be having a fit if she found you missing this early! What are you even doing in the library at this hour?”

“Well. What are you doing in the library this hour?”

“That’s a tu quoque fallacy. I’m not awake enough for this kind of thing.”

“Well, you’re awake enough to speak Greek, seems like.”

“Latin.”

“And besides, you hadn’t even gone to bed. Or home. You were just slumped in that armchair. I figured, fair game. If he wants to go to actual bed, I’m doing him a favour. And if he wants to have hot chocolate, great.”

“How did you even know I was – what? Hot chocolate? What hot chocolate?”

“I just… every Christmas morning I have to go unwrap presents with Avidan at the Capitol, and there’s church, where Velvare makes Avidan ask me to come sit with them, and then there’s a toooooon of speeches and presentations back at the Capitol, and then Velvare sits and just watches us eat Christmas dinner and it’s really awkward, and then a bunch of dancing and stuff and just. There’s never any time for me to go back to the orphanage. Or here. And I always thought Christmas at the library would be cool. You told me about drinking fancy coffee by the fireplace last year. And I don’t have any fancy coffee, but Idony’s got loads, and she doesn’t mind if we take some at Christmas. So I snuck in, and I thought I’d make a pot of it before you woke up so you could have it ready. And then I saw you were actually here.”

“Enel.”

“I’m – I’m sorry. Marcus?”

“No. Don’t be. I’m only rather surprised.”

“You okay?”

“Hm. And you didn’t catch anything on fire, or make a big mess out of the sitting area by the fireplace?”

“… I, ah, didn’t catch anything on fire. Are you mad?”

“I just need a moment. Enel, you’re... not a bad kid. Let’s go have some hot chocolate.”

“Merry Christmas?”

“Merry Christmas."

TSE Appreciation Week Day Six

Hi. It is Day Six. No exclamation marks today, for the week is over and it is a sad occasion. I hope you like it. Also, I noticed that I accidently titled yesterday’s post “Day Four” when it’s supposed to be “Day Five.” Oops. 

Enjoy.

Laura Hollingsworth sat down at her computer, fingertips poised over the keyboard. She heard a whine from under her chair, and looked down to see a fluffy dog staring back at her.

“No distractions, Gwladys. Now that the Hiatus Secundus is finally over, I'm writing the script for Chapter 21.”

Gwladys whined again, and Laura gave her a treat.

“Now go sleep or kill a lizard or something. I'm busy.” She gave the dog a little scratch behind the ears, and firmly patted her on the rump.

“Shoo.”

Gwladys left the room. Laura turned back to her keyboard. She yawned, and looked at the clock.

“My, it's a late to be writing, but I want this finished today. I guess I'll just sleep in a bit tomorrow.” she said to no one in particular. She took a drink of water, and began to write.

CHAPTER 21

CLIMB

APEN: *Looks up at Ayran, shocked * Ayran Greenway? Fabled Nedarian architect and designer of Greenway?

AYRAN: *Carswell Thorne grin * The very one.

BERLYNE: *is not impressed * What are you doing here, Mister Greenway, and where is “here” anyway?

AYRAN: We are in an old city that I made centuries ago. It's quite embarrassing, really. Looking at the stuff I made ages ago.. *cringes * Ugh.

JOE, CHARA, AND MARCUS: *run into the room *

JOE: *sees Berlyne and Apen on the floor and rushes over to check on them*

CHARA: Berlyne! Apen! Where have you been all night? We were so worried about you.

MELLY: *runs over and licks Apen's face *

APEN: Melly! You're all right! Thank heaven.

BERLYNE: We went wandering and got lost. Then, *glares at Ayran * this man attacked Apen, so I stabbed him. *is pleased *

CHARA: *is disturbed * BERLYNE, what have I told you about stabbing people?

BERLYNE: *is unremorseful *

JOE: *walks up to Ayran * I don't appreciate you attackin' my so- er- daughter's boyfr- er-- the person to which I am a father figure.

AYRAN: Oh, yeah, buddy? What'cha gon' do 'bout that?

JOE: Nothing, because I am a pacifist. But I will glare at you. *glares at Ayran *

MARCUS: Oh no! Not the glare!

APEN AND CHARA: The glare!!!

BERLYNE: What. The what. Is going on.

AYRAN AND JOE: *have a staring contest *

*music begins to play. Cut to Marcus playing the Jaws theme on the violin he was playing last chapter *

AYRAN: *blinks *  No!!! I have been vanquished!

JOE: Heck yeah ya have! *begins to dance the Cotton Eyed Joe *

MARCUS: *begins to play the Cotton Eyed Joe *

BERLYNE: Daddy? Um- are you alright? CHARA: It's his victory dance, Berlyne. You've lived with him for nineteen years, you know this.

MARCUS: Yeah, Berlyne, even I know that! * continues to play Cotton Eyed Joe, but joins in the dancing.

AYRAN: *is sulking in corner *

BERLYNE: Marcus. You can't play the violin and talk, much less dance. This is impossible, what is going on?

MARCUS: *kindly, like speaking to a very stupid small child* *still playing and dancing* Berlyne, Berlyne, Berlyne. You lowly little mortal. You have hardly seen my powers at work.

BERLYNE: W- Excuse me? MARCUS: You all thought that I was Marcus, a little hipster librarian. No. That form is past me now. I will now show you who I really am.

*a bright light flashes, and a shirtless faun with a red scarf stands in Marcus' place *

MARCUS: That's right. I am Mr. Tumnus!

BERLYNE: I am so confused.  *turns to Apen* Apen, what is going on?

APEN: *is with Chara, over next to Mr. Tumnus. He is making :baby_apen: face.*

APEN AND CHARA: *in unison *  MR TUMNUS?!?! MARCUS: Yes, my children. I am.

BERLYNE: *:shooketh * I AM SO DARN CONFUSED.

IDONY: *enters * What's going on?

MARCUS: Ah, my love. I have shown my true form. Maybe it is time for yours.

BERLYNE: what

IDONY: *sailor moon transformation sequence *  *becomes casserole lady from Velv's trial *  Yes, and I am Casserole Lady!

AYRAN: *horrified * NO! NOT CASSEROLE LADY! *falls over *

BERLYNE *checks pulse * Okay, he's dead. Guys, this is really weird.

EVERYONE – BERLYNE: No it's not!

BERLYNE: AH! I got it! This is a dream, right?

EVERYONE- BERLYNE: NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

*the scene goes black *

“Ah!” Laura awoke with a start. She squinted at her surroundings. She was in front of her computer.

“Wow, that was a crazy dream. I must have fallen asleep while writing.” She moved the computer mouse a bit, waking up the screen.

Y'all! You should go read The Silver Eye by Laura Hollingsworth! She's an amazing artist, and the storyline is just *chef's kiss*

She works really hard on the comic and even has some extra things too, like a patreon account with bonus content, giveaways, a yearly calendar, an Etsy site, spotify playlists for the characters, and currently there's a secret santa even going on and it seems to be really fun. I'm planning on joining it next year :3

Idony for the character thingy

Why I like them: She’s so optimistic and kind despite her disability, and she doesn’t let it hinder her from living her life. Honestly just an amazing character

Why I don’t: I honestly don’t think there is a reason not to like her???

Favorite episode (scene if movie): Hmmm, I really love her interactions with Noah cause she’s one of the few people who isn’t afraid to call Noah out on being a jerk, but also because sibling relationships are great. Also the whole Enel with a sock on his hand cause that IS my blog title...xD

Favorite season/movie: I honestly need to reread the comic cause I’m not sure if I have a favorite chapter for Idony? Though I like the night scene with her and Noah in 13, it’s just SO PRETTY, also good sibling interaction 

Favorite line: *needing to reread the comic intensifies* I know there are probably more but I’m just gonna go with “Why do you have a sock on your hand?” cause...yes xD

Favorite outfit: DUDE HOW? All of the characters outfits are amazing??? I’m going to just say the one she’s wearing the the most recent scene cause it’s pretty and I really need to REREAD THIS COMIC SOON

OTP: Not really an OTP yet, but I think her and Marcus have potential 

Brotp: I love her and Noah cause they are good siblings, but for not related brotp? Probably her and Chara

Head Canon: When she first became blind, she had a cane of sorts, but as she got older she switched to an umbrella because it had more uses and it just looked nicer, also because she got better at navigating and didn’t need an actual cane a lot, just something to kind of get a feel for the ground every once and a while

Unpopular opinion: I honestly don’t think there are unpopular opinions in the TSE fandom and I don’t think I have one anyway?

A wish: I kind of want her to see again, but at the same time she’s great being blind too...so...I’m not sure...I want her to meet Ruya and for them to really click plz!

An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: She better not die...like please no that would be too terrible! D:

Ok, I just saw your drawing ask about The Silver Eye, and firstoff I wanted to say HOORAY, you’re reading it! Excuse excitement but where are you in it and who’s your favorite character so far?? :D

No, please, I get it. I always love hearing about my mutuals getting into the same fandoms as me!

Let's see.... when I left off, Noah threw limeade on the back of Marcus's head, had an actual conversation with his sister, and then we had a lovely traumatic flashback for him.

Also, Avidan threw Velvare in jail, and is teaming up with Melete. Which seems like something that's gonna blow up in their faces.

My favorite character is probably a tie between Noah and Berlyne. Although Idony is also up there. I'm just weirdly here for the snarky but secretly kinda nice characters, ya know? And Berlyne and Idony are just AWESOME.

Day 3: Garnet

I can’t wear red, and I thought it would be fun to draw someone who can. Idony is one of those characters who always bounces back up despite (and often because of) her circumstances, so I tried to show that in the drawing. (At the suggestion from my cousin, I added the yellow roses that we know and love from the beginning of The Silver Eye ;D).
