I suppose I'm carrying on my trend of Ianto centric posts, with TWM #1's The Legacy Of Torchwood One.

I remember when this came out. It was so cool seeing a little bit more of Ianto's Torchwood One past. With all of the Big Finish releases, it's all but been retconned out of canon, but it's still a good little piece.

Also interesting to note, the story seems to be set during season two but the layout of Jack's office and the walkways around the watertower are the season one layout.

i do think my writing is pretty good! especially my more recent/torchwood stuff which im super duper proud of. i think the more emotional/character centric parts i write turn out very nicely indeed

Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them.

ianto jones, what a creature. not strictly a headcanon i spose but i love writing him as just a little bit more fucked up than gwen tosh and owen, yet better at keeping it below the surface. very much stems from the lisa incident-he literally kept her hidden down there for ??? idk how long! moved her across the country! thats commitment and i know he was doing what he thought was right but cmon on, he's no innocent baby love interest. he has a gun for a reason

Is there a fic of yours that broke your heart?

oooo definitely dead, my ianto ghost-ish house of the dead thing. proper sad at the ending that one, but hopefully a bit nice too? the getting there is rough as well, those boys are messy

How do you feel about criticism?

depends on the day and my mood XD but really im pretty fine with it, 'specially if ive asked for it. sometimes if i get some thats just a bit harsh or just generally,, unuseful im a bit annoyed, but i'll usually cycle back around to taking on board the helpful parts and ignoring the rest

Just started a new John-centric Torchwood AU set after Exit Wounds, you can find that oneshot here. I'm writing a full narrative for it, but for now you can just cope with this (and the little preview of the narrative under the cut which is basically just janto but wink wink).

"--Apart from that, she seemed pretty... Ordinary," Ianto finished the summary of his immediate investigation to Jack.

"Well, I don't like to judge a book by it's cover," Jack began, "but if she's really 'sub-human', as you put it, then it's worth looking into. The last thing we need right now is another thing to worry about."

He had on that pensive expression he always did when he was thinking, and it looked particularly sexy when blended with the messed-up hair and the bare shoulders covered in quickly-disappearing bite marks. Ianto hummed and pulled Jack back down into his bed, tangling him back up in the sheets and limbs, keeping his head pinned on the pillows with his forehead. "What's wrong? What's been happening with you?"

"Well, some rich guy went missing a few months ago, and then his body washed up with the stench of Rift energy all over him."

"How'd he die?"

"Drowned. I broke into the morgue and checked. Like you say, apart from that, seemed pretty ordinary..."

if you're asking the question "why are tw fans surprised when I say I prefer Torchwood 1" in good faith - it's because some of us enjoy the show itself (admittedly that is fairly surprising) and characters in it that aren't Ianto

Even then, Torchwood 1 isn't Ianto centric. It's about the mother/father/son dynamic between Ianto, Tommy, and Yvonne. Which is so comforting even with it's dark undertones. Also, Tommy is from Yorkshire. That means so much to me. He's great. Tbh there's no Ianto-centric story in the TW1 range other than Blind Summit. The rest he's paired with Tommy, and stories give balance to both their characters.

The fan who was surprised explicitly believed that there was something wrong with me and blocked me because I liked characters who are morally black regardless. For having a preference? Or acting as if they're watching an actually comforting show and not something which explores human corruptibility.

Plus this is just personal but I can't stand the constant insistence on atheism in Torchwood 3. If feels very RTD. Torchwood 1 at minimum believe in an afterlife. Especially when atp the Nethersphere should be active.

Torchwood: Forgotten Lives

This review may come across as slightly biased as I have never been the biggest fan of Gwen, through seasons 1-3 I found her slightly unbearable at times especially during her affair with Owen and treatment of Rhys, (I also try very hard to forget about whatever it was her and Jack did or didn't have going on). But then again, I have always been pro-Janto. However, I believe her character really picked up in season 4 'miracle day' when she finally set her priorities straight, and showed just how much she was willing to do and go through for her family. Forgotten Lives was a very Gwen-centric piece of media, other characters including Rhys Williams (husband) and Jack Harkness (although in a different body so not voiced by Barrowman) made an appearance throughout the story. The story was pretty easy to follow and a solid piece of cannon media, although at times I felt myself zoning out and becoming pretty bored, the ending was very hard for me to understand and I found myself having to replay it multiple times. Like what happened to Jack, did he stay an old man or? The thing I did however love about this story is how Gwen's character is written so perfectly, being this story is set after miracle day, and Gwen putting her daughter and husband above her job really made me become more fond of her character. From the beginning it's said how Jack spoke of Ianto in the nursing home, which to me made me sad as a story set after COE Ianto would of passed, so Jack still remembering Ianto is beautiful and the fact he tells stories of him shows how much Ianto really meant to Harkness as he wasn't just another 'partner'. I do know this story is written post miracle, however, it would of made the adventure a lot more entertaining if we saw some more of the OG Torchwood team in action. As a final point to sum up my review, I believe at the end Rhys was extremely out of character, because in what universe would RHYS be the one suggesting that he and Gwen going back to Torchwood? For me Rhys has always read off as a pretty ANTI-torchwood guy, so for him to suggest them going back, when they have a daughter now as well? I could never see Rhys thinking it let alone saying it. This adventure did link back to the committee but other then that it felt more Meh to me.

New Torchwood fic! It's mostly because I'm trying to write a Jack-centric fic but Owen's feelings kept getting in the way. So here's Owen's feelings about End Of Days so I can finally write Jack.

Grief Procedure Characters: Owen Harper, Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper, Ianto Jones, Toshiko Sato Tags: Grief/Mourning, Autopsy, Suicidal Thoughts, Guilt Summary:

There is no imagination in an autopsy. Dead is dead and guilt is guilt. What's worse than betrayal? How do you fix it when there's nothing left to fix? Owen doesn't know what to do. Jack was his second chance, Torchwood was his second chance, and now it's all stained with blame and regret and death.
