I can't get over that last scene from this episode. that long pause where sam was quietly grabbing a drink and you could barely hear celia talking to jack as she put him to bed in the other room. nothing was happening in that moment that needed to be recorded. no terrible events no big revelations. just sam and celia quietly going about their lives, sharing a domestic moment.

as something watched and listened. and we don't know why it's listening.

i think image gen can be used like any other artistic tool but I don't really think the big commerical proponents of "ai" are advertising it as a tool, they're adertising it as a solution. I also think it's intellectually dishonest to argue that image generation is exactly like "using photoshop/taking a photograph" because of some generalized "those were also criticized at their conception for being new and scary and disruptive" soundbite. they were not even really criticized for the same reasons. find a better argument.

#it's not serious when someone generates a meme image and ai can be an artistic medium that takes a lot of "effort” (a misaligned word that #i think we need to uncouple from “protestant work ethic” and “human worth” because anything you create #takes effort and that's neutral it has no value it's just unaviodable.#the issue is when we start deciding for ourself how much effort something took for someone else and judge them as less for it]#i also don't think “art” has anything to do with effectivity or the time it took to make. it's just communication man #the openai people don't want you to do something real with their model they want #ikea to use it for generating those paintings they hang in their showrooms.#oh and also. piling on. “the photoshop takes no effort the computer does all the work” was always bunk like anybody who's used any digital #image editing program knows that? because the people saying this literally imagined photoshop working like an image generator lmao.#and that has mostly died down because the accessability of computers that can run photoshop and its ilk has grown to the point #that people realize using photoshop is a pain.#while the photography criticism was strong a 100 years after the invention of photography. on philosophical grounds. brecht hated #photography and he was born 50 years after its conception.#everything that’s criticised isnt like everything else that’s criticised

Can we talk about how fucked up it is that writers even have to ask people not to put their work into an AI?

Like what the actual fuck is wrong with some people that they think they're entitled to steal someone else's work and then ask an AI to finish it

I don't care if your favorite fic author hasn't updated in two weeks or ten years. Those fics aren't yours and you are NOT entitled to steal them and run them through a bullshit generator

why the fuck is it that some people cant seem to acknowledge that people can just... be disabled. not through any fault of their own, not because something "happened" to them, just because, you know, sometimes people have disabilities. like, come on

kay so i work at a theatre (the weirdest one in the world imo) and tonight! we have a twilight themed burlesque performance that i knew you, the twilight mutual in my phone, had to know about. i can hear staying alive playing from the theatre as i write this. i feel like everything about this is perfect

the plot of twilight is edward desperately singing stayin alive at bella meanwhile she throws herself in the middle of every disastrous situation in a 100 mile radius and asks him to kill her

It always catches me off guard when I remember twilight was/is like. a whole phenomenon. and not just the weird book series I read like seven times over at age 13. I see other people say they've read it or see a reference in pop culture and my brain has to reboot because it simply does not make sense

#super happy art time #sascha #fuckin around figuring out my ashfield babies so i ended up giving sascha laurens old info #since i wanna do somethin else with her lol #soooo #sascha is flo and torys cousin that helped them move to the states #she cut communication from the rest of her own family tho #she works at bella's hotel as a housekeeper and has shelter there #and on the side does some hacker work #sascha has a bit of backstory uhhh #she was raised super traditional and grew up feeling extremely empty and aimless because of it #she wanted to do something more but her parents always wanted her to follow something else instead #ie be a mom get married and just stay at home #but sascha was more interested in learning about the world and wanted to get into it but it just. never went anywhere #she had a boyfriend in highschool (who will prolly just be the guy she was paired wth before lol) who tried to 'tame her' sorta #he also just saw her as someone who needed 'protecting' and to 'calm down' so he always sorta sheltered her #sascha wanted to get into all these fun afterschool classes and wanted to learn more about computers or learn to write but her bf and #her fam always kept her from it #she ended up getting pregnant from her bf and he and her family started really rampinng up the 'its time to settle down and stop trying to #see out unrealistic ventures!' and all that #and she had a breakdown. she gave herself an abortion and broke off from her family and bf. i feel like she has a biiiig diary taht was her #way of geting these emotions out and felt she could only trust herself #she ran from home and i feel like thats how she fell int silent hill #i have more thoughts but i am tired lol #but her time in sh she sees as a dream. it was less a punishment and more a self discovey thing #she was homeless for a while at an internet cafe type place until bella found her and offered her housing #shes dating tim and theyre weirdos together #she ws wary of him at first but his own colorful nature helps her unwind a LOT #also feel like they have a shared interest in WEIRD bs and thats how they connected #anywho
