#mp answers#i've been trying so hard not to be annoying to my bnha friends but if you will allow me to push this for this ask let me say 🙏#if you're afraid of the episode count for one piece the manga is a lot quicker read while being just as enjoyable because the art style is#an actual delight. its great its fantastic im absolutely in love with it#the series is soooo good and i know luffy can seem unappealing to people before they start but he's just SUCH a great character & continues#to be even now. the story is SO GOOD the characters are SO GOOD... theres so much lore and world building that its insane#if you read the manga we get 'cover stories' on what's going on with previous characters to see what theyre up to even though we moved on#from where we left them. a lot of these cover stories blend into the main story so well its just seamless#there's one where we get introduced to a character we dont see hundreds of episodes into the anime and they show up like; during the second#saga. the series is about traveling to other islands and every single arc has been tied to another in some way or form that shows up later#even if its sagas and sagas later- it still becomes relevant again!! it's a huge ongoing story and there isnt a single arc that feels like#it has no purpose (sans filler in the anime-but even then!! some filler arcs are really entertaining!)#it's emotional! its sad! its downright stupid and silly but GOD... you can feel the love that oda put into this series and his characters#and the emotions in the expressions and the messages the story gives off it just makes me UEUHGHHAHGHH!!!#it's all about the adventure and the romance of it all! its about the freedom it brings and bringing freedom to others!#its a series where treasure should be a focus given its pirates and the its a giant treasure hunt for the one piece and yet! and yet so man#of the characters treasures are things that are not coins and gems but people and promises and family and and#im going to EXPLODE i love one piece

i think the reason obx season 1 and 2 were so good is because between all the action there were still a good amount of moments where the pogues were just hanging out and having fun
season 3 lacks a lot of those moments and i think that’s why it just doesn’t hit the same

newt and hermann are the perfect comedic couple for a treasure hunt
both university professors very famous for their accomplishments but way too in their own world to really care (not when there is still so much to be done), are approached by Generic Villain Millionaire who wants to get rich off of the discovery of a legendary place (and its artifacts)
hermann recently managed to triangulate the location of a lost civilization (or smth) with newt's help (i imagine that one of his phds is in mythology or archeology, im really lost on him without kaiju and other magical creatures)
hermann obviously refuses to disclose his studies "but hermann think about it!" "newton we are not just going to tell this man how-" "NO YOU DONT GET IT!! we go and find it ourselves, no need to involve that capitalist piece of shit!!"
so Generic Villain Millionaire hires raleigh, who went around the world doing idk extreme sports or exploring with his brother before he died, who ropes mako (hermann's undergrad student or smth idk how uni works ok?) and her father, retired archeologist stacker pentecost, to come with
(the only reason RALEIGH even agreed was because Generic Villain Millionaire used yancy's memory in leverage the nigerian job style)
cut to hermann and newt with massive backpacks, absolutely overprepared for their adventure, bickering in the background in a jungle while the other three carve the path for them
is anybody gonna steal this idea or do i add it to my never-ending wips

just realised that the first media we consumed that made us REALLY sympathetic for the monster was that fucking point and click Mystery Case Files Ravenhearst game. bc that entire game i was legitimately fucking TERRIFIED of the ghost lady in that game but the second i found out her husband was abusive i doubled down on trying to help her escape. and the ending of that game Did make me cry out of fear but hey at least i did in fact help her escape

i am boggled sometimes at the amount of times i look for "beginning beginner guide to x thing" in a video game and I get some dude who's been playing since beta (which was, like, 11 years ago) who talks 50 miles an minute, references stuff I will not see in my lifetime since it only relates to uber-high-end content and ranks things as "worth doing" if, and only if, it drops high end shit which, again, see previous comment.
do not tag your epeen flex as "beginner" if you have no concept of what that is anymore. please. i am just trying to figure out where to start, not which european country i can conquer with it using the right upgrades. if you're using acronyms, go back and re-record your guide and while you're at it, slow the fuck down.
