A lot of why wrestlers do acting in the first place is to qualify for SAG insurance. Like, some openly (Terry Funk, for example) have stated they did the minimum amount of acting required to be insured every year for their families.

And this has definitely directly impacted the Rock- a lot of wrestling fans believe part of his cousin Roman Reigns big cameo spot in Hobbs and Shaw was in part to get him on SAG insurance when he had leukemia - because despite being a top billed star in WWE and not allowed to work elsewhere or even stream or vlog freely, he's not otherwise insured.

You gotta read and watch some old books and films that aren’t 100% modern politically correct. I’m not saying you should agree with everything in them but you need to learn where genres came from to understand what those genres are doing today and where media deconstructing old tropes is coming from.

Also, more often than you might think, they’re not actually promoting bigotry so much as “didn’t consider all the implications of something” or just used words that were polite then but considered offensive now.
