In a world where the Uchiha and the people of the Leaf never clashed. A world where the Uchiha Massacre never took place. A world where love conquers all.

•Itachi excelled in the Anbu. Leading with pride, always thinking ahead about all the possible outcomes on missions to keep himself and, more importantly, his comrades safe. Unfortunately, killing wasn’t something Itachi wanted to do, so he resigned after a few years to focus on being a Jounin. He completed many missions, hundreds of them, all of them without killing a single enemy. He was both feared and loved.

•His relationship with his younger brother Sasuke only grew. They cooked together, trained together, even read together sometimes. Any time either brother needed someone, the other was there in no time. They shared their hopes, dreams, desires for the future and they were each other’s shoulder to lean on. Becoming Uncles to each other’s children made them even happier, if that’s even possible! The bond that Sasuke and Itachi had could never be broken.

•Fugaku and Mikoto watched both of their sons grow up into fine young men. Going to their graduation ceremonies, packing their bags full of snacks, water, medicine and other necessities before they headed off for a mission, and showing them just how proud and loved they were in their own ways. When the boys found their life partners, you bet that they showed up early to help set up for the wedding and stayed later to pack up so that their sons could start their beautiful lives with their wives/husbands. Grandchildren. They LOVED their grandchildren. Whether they were blood or adopted, they cared for them so much.

•Jumping to a personal favourite: Itachi and Izumi. Izumi always looked up to Itachi. Always wanted to be as strong as him. But, she just couldn’t. That never changed her feelings for him, though. Itachi made her want to train harder and harder and expand her ninjutsu library, her Sharingan ability, and of course, strengthen her genjutsu. Every time Itachi would leave for a mission with the Anbu or if he needed to travel to different villages, Izumi would always pack him a special bento box. A week’s supply of dango will malways be found in the top compartment! When Itachi comes back, like usual, his fangirls would swarm, leaving Izumi shyly standing behind the crowd, watching him. Itachi could see her, of course. When she was around, his focus was always on her. But, Itachi couldn’t just be rude and ignore everyone who had come to see him. Eventually, Itachi reciprocates Izumi’s feelings and he proposes one night after a very long and dangerous mission where he nearly lost his life. He knew then and there that he couldn’t waste any more time. After their marriage came two beautiful Uchiha children. The first, a boy, who had Itachi’s hair, but similar features to Uncle Sasuke. The second, a girl, with brown hair like Izumi’s and a face like Mikoto, her grandmother.

•Shisui did things similarly to Sasuke, Fugaku and Mikoto. Helped Itachi train, helped plan his and Izumi’s wedding, always made sure that Itachi and Sasuke had eaten, and if they hadn’t, he would take them to their favourite shop and buy them both dinner. Shisui took on the non-existent role of the oldest Uchiha brother, which Mikoto and Fugaku were very happy about. More support for their sons, after all! Shisui also helped Itachi and Sasuke out with women problems. If either of them had any questions about their crushes or girlfriends at the time, Shisui would be the first they would go to, since neither of them had much experience with dating and romance.

your most recent post just tickled my brain worms SO good holy hell I'll be thinking about it for weeks now. First of all, you did so good and thank you for the 14k fic omg!? As always your writing was freaking out of this world and I have much to say so walk with me

I particularly fell to my knees when he said "I do love you. But I only know one way to." there's such a RAW feeling to those words and I absolutely love it

Another point is that someone like the reader could never be in a healthy relationship like she wanted to since, even if she didn't wish to, she'd keep taking and taking from her partner until they're eventually left with nothing else to give

However, Sasuke is someone who has everything and nothing at the same time. He has the power and the influence but as a human? he's still raw. Vulnerable even. But not in a way that can be easily shaped nor is he willing to let others shape him into something.

What he does know how to do though is give his everything when he's set on something we seen it in how he literally gave his entire life to avenge his family

He's had love taken from him again and again, he's had love hurt and ripped him to shreds. His only "affection" in this case obsessing over things he does have control over.

Then comes in the reader; Someone who does exactly that. Someone who will tear him apart, who will lay him bare and point out his flaws without hesitation, but will also, without him even realizing, give him a solid 'shape'.

He can give her everything and more, but for someone like her it'll never be quite enough. Especially not when he learnt how to precisely measure how much to give without letting her "win" their twisted game. He will keep giving and giving and giving even when she doesn't want it anymore and what can a greedy and broken person who craves for love do if not hungrily take what is being so kindly given to her? No one else could ever keep her so frustratingly satisfied like he does.

And on god don't EVEN get me started on the last part. "I am so sick of you" he says and yet he needs her more than he needs the very air he breathes. She is a horrible woman and he is a man full of sins, way too deep into the abyss to even dream about redemption or forgiveness. So what else is left for them to do besides drowning together? Drowning themselves into each other until they eventually reach their limit together. But what matters is exactly that: That they're together.

I have so many thoughts but it's so late I can only put those into words HAHA

"Toxic brainrot" anon you are the star of this blog and I really mean it! <3 This fic was originally supposed to be just a nsfw short story about ex!husband Sasuke, but after you send me that message about the toxic type of dynamic between lovers, this beautiful idea was born.

All of your analysis is spot on!

Honestly, I love Sasuke so much, but as you said he is a vulnerable and "raw" individual, one that has been through so much, the idea of redemption looks like a distant dream, rather than an achievable goal.

I think we often see him in fics paired with a s/o that is a giver - giving him patience, time, understanding (actually, most of my fics about him are like this!), but I thought - what if flipped things around? What if his partner was the one that kept taking and taking, feeding off his weaknesses rather than help him overcome them?

The whole time I was writing this I was thinking about this one quote from "The perks of being a wallflower" (Gosh, I loved that book when I was in high school!): "We accept the love we think we deserve" and honestly I think this is the most appropriate way to describe what Sasuke and his s/o are feeling for each other.

naruto character social media headcanons:

naruto: sakura made him a personal instagram account 3 years ago and he legitimately has opened it exactly twice (both times because sakura was asking him to pull something up). its just really not for him. honestly though that being said i feel like you could get him to be a vine creator you KNOWWWW he's abusing his shadow clone ability for this

sasuke: lets be so honest hes not touching any of that with a 50 foot pole, ever. NEXT!

sakura: definitely has a personal instagram, could also see her having a fitness instagram as well. given shes also canonically a fujoshi lets be so honest she has an ao3 and probably a fandom twitter account for liking/rting fanart as well

sai: also does not get the appeal at first. i think sakura made a valiant attempt to convince him to make an instagram account for his art but this does not pan out. it is only when ino shows him twitter's incredible versatility for haters that he understands what the hype is all about.

yamato: my immediate instinct would be to say no probably not HOWEVER i think it would be really funny if he was incredibly active on r/architecture and literally nothing else

kakashi: for the most part a hard no. however i do believe he is casually active on an incredibly obscure forum for the icha icha series. at some point naruto or sakura accidentally see that he has it pulled up on his phone and spend a solid like week hunting down his account and reading through and making fun of all of his posts. he does not know this happened

guy: honestly i think he has a facebook account that is exclusively used to find and post boomer style workout memes and positivity posts. he sends an egregious amount of the aforementioned workout memes to kakashi and lee (enthusiasm of the receivers is about what you can probably expect)

neji: decidedly proclaims social media to be a cesspool and a waste of time, does not partake. he does, however, have a meticulously upkept letterboxd account with extensive and incredibly thorough reviews of everything he's ever watched. (i believe weekly team guy movie nights can be very frustrating for him personally because neji as a person prefers films that are very introspective/character driven/abstract but the rest of his teammates more than anything are interested in watching a bunch of guys beat the living snot out of each other)

tenten: she's got an instagram where she posts short clips of training using her vast arsenal of weapons - lee and neji are frequent guest appearances as sparring partners. i also could see her having a tumblr or some sort of blog to geek out over the latest thing she's picked up

lee: i think he has facebook and instagram but purely to very enthusiastically comment on guy and tenten's posts. otherwise its really not his thing

ino: YOU KNOWWWWWWWWW SHES GOT IT ALL. tiktok instagram twitter triple threat she's definitely an influencer she's big in the makeup scene but also has huge kpop side accounts. shes definitely always getting into drama but always comes out on top in the end - a bit of a controversial figure but overall has a frankly militant fanbase. always up to date on the latest idol drama and you KNOW she'll be posting about it. also has a defunct tumblr account that which was definitely an obscenely popular aesthetics blog back in the site's heyday, but in modern times has since moved her collage boards to pinterest

choji: you know this i know this we all know this HES A FOOD BLOGGER!!!!!!!! in this world blogspot is still alive and well and hes making a killing on there. i think he would also have a tiktok account though for short review videos usually featuring his friends where they go to taste test new restaurants/dishes. i think he also has a personal instagram account just for posting friend photos and whatnot

shikamaru: very casual reddit scroller, when hes bored he'll trawl through a few political subreddits and perhaps r/shogi. never posts and has accounts on basically nothing.

hinata: type of person to HAAAAATE online drama so bad it makes her sick with stress just thinking about it. if she uses social media at all i think she has a diligently kept aesthetic tumblr blog where she posts photos and doesnt interact with anybody ever

hidan: active 4chan user.

jiraiya: its like if you took a facebook-exclusive boomer and dropped him into twitter without warning. his account was supposed to exclusively be his platform for his writing but he gave up that pretense a long time ago and now its basically just whatever he wants to put on there. we all already know what this looks like

orochimaru: saw suigetsu scrolling on twitter once and got an extensive rundown on how it works and the kind of people that frequent it. finds it fascinating in the way that one might study bacteria in a petri dish cultivated in toxic sludge, but thats about the extent of it. boruto-era however he is an active nextdoor and facebook user and exclusively posts wine mom memes

tsunade: has an official account as the hokage but its entirely run by shizune. honestly i dont think she would find much interest or enjoyment in anything social media has to offer her

OH  and  there's  a  verse  in  which  she's  in  a  polyamorous  relationship  with  @desireshonour's  phillip  graves  and  @thehollyverse's  holly.

and  oh  my  god.  prometheus!!!  they're  a  couple  and  actually  prome  is  fate's  og  partner.  they're  bound  by  her  decisions  and  he'll  never  be  free  from  her.  it's...  v  toxic  but  v  sweet  all  the  same.  me  and  prometheus'  writer  are  brainstorming  if  david  (  prome's  real  name  )  actually  loves  fate,  or  if  it's  a  stockholm  syndrome.

I'm pretty sure I've said this several times on my blog, but it's my main sexual headcanon for him so I'll say it again lol! Naruto is a DOM. Like he will not take shit from his partner. He will not entertain the idea of bottoming for them. If you're with Naruto, he's going to dominate you - end of story lol.

2: otp

NaruSaku, NaruSaku, NaruSaku! There is literally no other option. I will not entertain another option. They are the OTP. Period.

Sasuke is a shitty friend (and no, I haven't seen Boruto) so going the same as my Shikamaru answer here and saying... well, Shikamaru and Naruto! I love their friendship so much!

NaruHina. I don't even know if I can nicely articulate my thoughts on these two anymore. If you've been following me for awhile then you know how I feel about them. They have no chemistry, at all. They have literally nothing in common. I am pretty sure Hinata would literally bore him to tears during every conversation. How they ever made it past the first date is beyond me. They're the worst - end of story.

5: first headcanon that pops into my head

Naruto definitely came very quickly during his first time but is so horny that he was able to stay hard and just kept teasing his partner until he was able to rail them again... then he overstimulated them and gave incredible aftercare afterwards lol.

6: favorite line from this character

“If he rips my arms off, I’ll kick him to death. If he rips my legs off, I’ll bite him to death! If he rips my head off, I’ll stare him to death! And if he gouges out my eyes, I’ll curse him from beyond the grave.” I wish he had more lines like this one.

Loyalty. Naruto is suuuuper dedicated to his friends and literally treats them better than he treats himself sometimes and I am also guilty of this. Like someone can piss all over me, but the second they come for my friends, I grab them by the jugular lmao.

There are so many options to choose from... lol. The fact he literally couldn't say chakra correctly always stands out to me though. Even worse, he actually thought it was catra... lmao.

Three ships: currently the big one is Sakura/Sasuke. I fell in love with them during the Scarlet Spring manga/arc, and I've just been obsessed since. I'm currently reading Sakura Hiden and it's ruining my life, and I'm writing a couple short fics about them. Then there's Sora/Riku/Kairi who I've been crying about since I played kh1 in like October, and I'm perpetually mad that fandom doesn't seem to care about the Rikai part of it as much as they do the others. And then I've been rewatching Soul Eater, and Maka/Soul is destroying all of my feelings, they're just so sweet to each other ahhh

First ever ship: ugh. ugh. don't do this to me. ugh. Jasper/Alice. leave me alone. I used to read so many l e m o n s about them on backwoods twilight sites when I was wayy to young to know what those words mean. My second ever ship tho was Spirit/Stein from Soul Eater, and it's been really interesting going back to them ten years later

Don't worry, if anything, it's probably on me for my tone jumping all over the place, English isn't my first language + I have a tendency of mixing formal and informal speech, so that might come off as weird.

I don't blame you for resorting (though that's probably a word too strong) to relying on the novels for some external info on Hidan, cause he's been royally fucked over by the plot in terms of screen time, never appearing again after the arc he was introduced (which isn't the case for literally all other members of Akatsuki lmao). Though I do like the way he is dressed in both iterations of his supposed recruitment both in the games (half-naked - unbelievably based, I would like to see the same for other members of Akatsuki) and in anime (dripped out of his goddamn mind - wtf is that fur coat in our feudal/industrialisation era setting, I laugh and cry every time I come across that particular filler).

Well, once again, Akatsuki Supression arc had to be rushed due to editor's insistence to get Naruto/Sasuke into the plot because gosh golly what of manga's ratings (at least I believe the information about editor's involvement in that arc has been confirmed at some point), so I imagine Kishimoto actually had a lot more planned for both Hidan and Kakuzu (which explains the absolutely bizarre 5 for ninjutsu for Hidan), unfortunately in the end these two got the short end of external circumstances of manga serialization.

I do agree with your point that Hidan would have to be at least somewhat physically talented to get through the childhood in a war-torn nation, likely alone.

And on the topic of stats, I did actually check a bunch of other character profiles, and Kakashi's had several of them across the databooks, and the stats actually improved a little bit post-timeskip, so yeah, I think this pretty much confirms it that the stats are only indicative of a character's abilities at that particular point in the plot, not before or after.

I'm not a Hidan fan (I'm more focused on Deidara and Obito, as it can be seen from my blog), but I do enjoy him as a antagonist that works (and said can not be stated regarding certain other major antagonists by the end of the manga, so that's a pretty big compliment). He works within the role he is given, he is enjoyable and it's pretty funny how he and Kakuzu are this detached from the rest of Akatsuki who are all about endless yapping and abstract values, while here we've got a religious fanatic and a money-obsessed bounty hunter, both of whom seem a lot closer to something seen in real world rather than the endless "ooooo shinobi's world's darkness ooooo". But in any case, I don't think I've got any other significant headcanons regarding Hidan? I'm a fic writer, so I am trying to think of some things from background characters' past in order to understand the way they would act when interacting with various characters, and for Hidan I haven't got much besides what I gathered to be possible off the timeline of events. To me Boruto is in a weird spot because it's got a higher degree of canonicity (?) to me when anime or novels because at certain points in time Kishimoto did work on it and chapter 700 (plus like 5? 10?) were literally written by him. However, because Naruto's plot becomes such a steaming pile of dogshit past the Konoha Founders flashback (which takes place, like, midway through 620s chapters? leaving us to tredge through shit varying between "awful", "terrible", "god please end me", "was the editor present during this chapter's making?", "you really think you did something with twist, huh, Kishimoto", "this is literally the worst thing that I've ever read" and "the fact that I have to go through this to get to the end of the manga should be a violation of Geneva's conventions"), I really don't care for anything from that particular 70 something stretch of chapters and whatever the hell follows it, most of the lore and events are so detached from the whole alien goddess moon idiocy that it doesn't take much to ignore it and enjoy what is left.

Even as a concept Boruto was doomed before it escaped the containment of Shonen Jump's editorial basement - you can't write a good story with the powerscaling becoming this fucking unhinged and not killing off the main culprits (Naruto and Sasuke), otherwise you either have to outright change the genre from battle manga or you'll get stuck with any and all conflicts being instantly resolved by these ChOSeN oNEs. So of course even if it was written by someone good, they would have to do some absolutely mingblowingly stupid twists just so that the godly duo doesn't get in the way of the newer generation - and Boruto is not written by anyone even remotely good. It's been what, almost a decade? and the quality of illustrations is still absolutely abysmal. Maybe it's the elitist in me speaking, but after doing the fan translation for My Hero Academia for 5 years and witnessing the art quality Horikoshi managed to produce on weekly (!) basis even as he complained about severe pain in his arms and then seeing what Boruto has after a month of work. Hell, the art quality (and the questionable design choices, looking at literally anything Sarada wears) are nothing compared to what Boruto has for plot, which is "embracing the bullshit of the last 70 chapters of Naruto", "taking a dead beloved characters from the original and making a carbon copy of them" (at this point I think I've heard of like a dozen of them) and "doing the cheapest and stupidest plot twists imaginable. bonus points if that completely shits on the lore of the original". Boruto is a parasite series that feeds off of anything remotely good left after Kishimoto had sabotaged the plot of his own manga.

So, the short answer is - while technically Boruto is more canon than the novels, because I couldn't care less for it due to its sheer awfulness and not wishing to make myself go through something like just to maybe, possibly incorporate it into my understanding of the lore, I don't consider either of them canon.

I've seen a comment from @hidansbabygirl regarding timeline stuff, so decided to share some things that I have regarding Hidan and what is known of him on the timeline of the events in Naruto

However, the start of Hidan's life corresponds with some pretty major things going on in the shinobi world, so we actually need to start elsewhere to establish some important facts regarding that, so, with that said, let's take a look at...

Kannabi bridge mission.

Surprising, I know. But Kannabi is very important for establishing when did the Third Shinobi World War ended and, presumably, started. It'll be obvious why this is important a bit later, so let's get into it.

It's actually pretty easy to ascertain the end of the TSWW thanks to the greatest guy to ever greatest guy in history - Obito. Obito is 30 during the events of Shippuden (I believe that the wiki and, likely, the databooks say that he's 31, however having kids in Kakashi's generation have different ages is way too annoying to keep track of + Obito by himself has a lot of events that involve literal fucking timetraveling, so for the sake of my sanity, everyone in Kakashi's generation is 30 during Shippuden). Obito is 13 during the events of Kannabi bridge (as stated in his profile in second databook, I believe?), so we know that between his untimely demise and miraculous ressurection 17 years have passed.

and here's the finale of Kakashi Gaiden. the wording of this page pretty heavily implies that following the destruction of Kannabi bridge, the TSWW ended (considering how many events unrelated to it are going to follow in literally the next year alone, it better fucking did, otherwise Kishimoto is incredibly bad with numbers). So, we know for certain that the end of that particular war was 17 years before the events of Shippuden.

Now let's remember another major date that pops up here and there during Kakashi Gaiden - the failure and subsequent suicide of Kakashi's father, Hatake Sakumo, which took place 5 years before Kannabi. To recap - some sort of important mission, goal vs comrades, Sakumo chooses comrades, mission ends in a failure, everyone hates Sakumo, including the very same comrades, Sakumo kills himself. Now here's the thing - even if Sakumo was compared to Sannins, we know pretty much jackshit about when and where he did missions. We've obviously heard about this mission, and there is also a very interesting fact about him killing parents of another Akatsuki-member-to-be - Sasori. However, Sasori was a very young child when it happened (off Chiyo's memories), and Sasori himself fought and ditched Suna during TSWW, so Sakumo fighting against Suna would have taken place in the previous World War, which is the Second.

Anyway, what I am trying to say is - we know nothing of Sakumo's involvement in the TSWW, meaning that he became a legendary and respected figure before it. And we certainly know that there was some mission, he put his comrades' lives over the mission, mission failed, and everyone hated him. And doesn't that seem like a bit of a... overreaction? Considering that during the plot we see quite a few missions being failed and yet it doesn't lead to shinobi in charge of them to becoming pariahs and ending their lives. Unless, of course... the failure of that particular mission had some absolutely catastrophic consequences.

Here's the part that was purely theorized, however I love this theory a lot and I believe that it actually does an amazing job at explaining the events, so here it goes - Hatake Sakumo's mission that took place 5 years before the events of Kannabi bridge mission was the spark that set off the Third Shinobi World War.

And suddenly the way everyone acts makes a lot of sense. Sakumo chose to save his comrades and know all of them watch as their village and country submerges itself into another worldwide meatgrinder? Yeah, no fucking wonder they started hating him, they are also kind of responsible for shit going down. The village despised him? Yeah, alright, everyone now must prepare for another war with like 3 different Greater Nations and think of how their friends and relatives are going to die, of course they can't stand his guts. Sakumo watches his homeland being engulfed into the fires of war caused by his one decision that went against the rules of shinobi? Oh yeah, no wonder he takes his life, no one's honor ever recovers from setting off a literal World War. Young Kakashi wants nothing to do with his father's name and values, even of it's his only (once upon a time) living relative? I mean, your dad's the reason all the adults in the village are getting their mandatory wartime flashbacks to shit thay experienced back during the Second Shinobi World War and you and your classmates instead of having to catch cats somewhere in the village now have to catch boulders with their faces somewhere on the border between Land of Earth and Land of Grass, of course you're not gonna follow his steps in any capacity.

Anyway, you get the idea. Now that I've explained why I believe the beginning of TSWW is assossiated with Hatake Sakumo, we can see that the war lasted for about 5 years, which is pretty reasonable time for at least two generations to get completely fucked over, so this theory passes a sanity check. Thus, we can presume that TSWW started 22 years before the events of Shippuden.

And, as I am sure you are aware, 22 is a magical number for this post, because Hidan is exactly 22 years old in Shippuden

(while searching for info for this post, I've found the English translation of the databook, so here's a bit of it with the main stuff for Hidan)

Now, all of my previous yapping about the dates creates a pretty interesting picture: Akatsuki members can be separated into three clusters (Zetsu and Orochimaru don't count, didn't care + didn't ask + L bozo + asspull plot twists): grandpa Kakuzu as the outlier that literally predates the shinobi village system, the majority of Akatsuki aged 30-40 aka kids born during the Second Shinobi World War and later fucked up by the Third Shinobi World War, and the three kids of the Third Shinobi World War aka Hidan (22), Itachi (21) and Deidara (19). Who are. You know. Even if they never fought in that war, they are still clearly not okay.

So yeah, one certain thing: Hidan would have been born around the same time as the TSWW was beginning, and, considering that it lasted 5 years, he should, theoretically, be able to remember its last years (the ones that involved sending 13 year olds on the enemy territory on Konoha's side of the conflict, wonderful stuff).

Now we'll be switching to geography because, I mean, how bad could it be for wherever Hidan was born? The answer is - likely pretty fucking bad.

Here's another tidbit from the databook confirming that Hidan was born in Yugakure (the reason why I specifically checked for it was that I was unsure if he simply got his shinobi education(?) in Yugakure or he was actually born there, the first scenario makes things kind of more ambigious; and it is possible, Kushina is an example of someone born in Uzushio and trained in Konoha). Now let's look at the map and see where Yugakure is...

Goddamit it's right in between Land of Fire and Land of Lightining. Literally like the fastest way for either country's army to pass through to fuck up each other. Possibly for Blood Mist too, if they ever got the brightest idea to go fuck up Kumogakure via a land path.

And yes there's no doubt that Konoha and Kumo were fighting in that war (chapter 542)

Ay, Bee and Minato can only be young adults for TSWW + Minato explicitly states that neither Ay nor he are Kage yet, Minato becomes one after the end of the war, while Ay does after his father dies fighting a giant army (figure which village is geographically close to Kumo to pull this) for three days straight. All in all, Kumo and Konoha undoubtedly were against each other during the time Hidan would be learning how to talk and walk, so Yugakure would be stuck between the rock and the hard place.

Which, off the example of Amegakure (granted these poor fuckers are stuck between THREE Greater Nations, and whenever there's a big conflict going on Suna, Iwa and Konoha like to throw the title of "the biggest civilian casualties inflicter" between each other like it's hot potato, but nonetheless) being a small village in this position sucks major ass. Hidan would have been watching his home getting rolled over by Kumo and Konoha repeatedly all childhood, and I think it's pretty safe to say that it's heavily affected him and his hightened interest in all things violent.

And off the paragraph above, we see that Yugakure turned into a resort village after the war ended (this couldn't have happened before or during it, otherwise it raises a question of how the hell Hidan is a shinobi).

(And I love the phrase "all major wars disappeared from the world" - my brother in christ it's been literally just 17 years and everyone's at each others throats again, why is Kishimoto trying to desperately gaslight his readers into believing that it was all bad before but now everyone's in an era of peace, the world is literally in another mid-war period and the world is aware of what these times look like (already happened 2 times))

Ahem. Sorry for going off topic. Now, whether Yugakure stopped being a military center on its own volition due to economic reasons or someone pressured them into demilitarising (once again, there's a pretty big border between the Land of Hot Springs and Land of Fire, and Konoha's got this dude named Danzo who likes having his nose into bordering countries' business, hi again, Ame, and is the literal embodiment of paranoia, considering all of that, such a scenario is possible), the result is the same - Yugakure is now a peaceful village, Hidan is its shinobi who is likely traumatised from the events in TSWW, so he craves some pretty extreme forms of violence. It's kind of obvious why he got tangled with the cult of Jashin.

And then there's... nothing. Literally a blank period. There's no info on Hidan's education as the shinobi (the databook has ??? for this info), Yugakure has no ninja registration system unlike the major hidden villages, so nothing can be inferred off of that, there's some stuff said about cult of Jashin and Hidan being the first successfull immortality experiment, but there are no events corresponding to any of this in the manga or the databooks, so alas, we have no clues what was going on with him before his recruitment into Akatsuki, so let's go into this

Thankfully, there's a bit more on that. Hidan during the six day (jesus christ I really hope Pain, Konan and Obito are paying these guys for the overtime, wtf is that, being stuck with your coworkers for 144 hours) zoom call when they were sealing Isobu and Matatabi argues with Pain and says the following

(and yes if you are wondering "hey weren't Hidan and Kakuzu dead by the time Obito and Deidara caught Isobu?", this is one of the prime examples why I don't care for anything stated in the anime, because this is one of the things changed from the original: Isobu is shown to be caught before, I believe, Hidan and Kakuzu even make an appearance, the canon scene for Isobu capture starts with Isobu watching who the fuck woke him up, while Obito and Deidara are yapping as usual before Obito is off to get bullied by this one big turtle for the third fucking time in his life)

Obviously, we know that Tobi joined Akatsuki officially after Sasori's death, during Shippuden events, so Hidan's recruitment would be somewhere before that and literally everyone else in the organization. Konan, Zetsu, Pain were there from the start after Obito took over, Itachi joined 8 years ago (after the Uchiha massacre), I've explained why I believe Deidara was taken 7 years before Shippuden, but obviously it can be anywhere between 7 to 4 years, Kisame would have to be somewhere before Deidara, Sasori would have to be before Itachi (because he was Orochimaru's partner before Itachi came about), Kakuzu could have happened literally at any point after the takeover but before Hidan's joining. So, not much is conclusive here, except that at earliest it would have taken like 7 years before Shippuden.

HOWEVER! There's one scene that actually allows us to establish that Hidan would have been recruited during the timeskip between OG Naruto and Shippuden! And it's everyone's favorite "why the fuck is Deidara upside down on the ceiling" scene

First important thing about Akatsuki: Hidan's figure is very obvious, even during the zoom meetings, considering that he is oftentimes drawn with his scythe. As we can see, no scythe in sight.

But that's not the weirdest thing in this picture. I, as a very sane person, have Akatsuki members' heights saved up (rounded up mathematically), so let's take a look at them:

Now, after seeing this data, do you see anything conflicting with it on the picture above?

Who the fuck is this guy? The guy who is TOWERING above Kisame, literally the tallest known member?

My sanity says that the obvious answer is Kishimoto didn't plan shit, the designs for Akatsuki members weren't finished by that point, so we get this weird shit in the chapters before Akatsuki got revealed. Unfortunately, my sanity does not work as an in-universe argument, so the alternative is that this is actually Kakuzu's partner before Hidan (one of the guys that got killed by him), which creates the following chain of events: Akatsuki have this meeting 3 years before Shippuden, Kakuzu kills this 2.5 meter tall dude, and then the HR department aka Pain, Konan and Obito find this one undying cultist and pair them up because goddammit Kakuzu we don't have time for this bullshit, we need to tailedbeastmaxx.

So, as a result, Hidan joined Akatsuki anywhere from 19 to 22 (and I don't remove 22 from the boundary unlike I did with Deidara because Hidan not knowing wtf Akatsuki's goal is in this particular meeting is pretty wild, considering that Isobu and Matatabi are the fourth and fifth Tailed Beast that they are sealing by this point - Deidara said during the Kazekage Rescue arc that before Gaara they already got two jinchuiki, so 2 + Shukaku = 3 before that meeting - and zero times did Hidan think about asking "hey Leader what the fuck are we cooking here")

And I think that's about all I've got in regards to timeline stuff for Hidan. 0-5 - watches the carnage of the Third Shinobi World War, the next like 15 years are in the fog of war, so we only know that he's got his shinobi education, got pissed at the village, joined a cult, obtained immortality, and then from 19 to 22 he is recruited into Akatsuki.

Hello, I would like to know what are your opinions on akatsuki members. I know it’s mostly narusasu and anti naruhina/sasusaku blog but I’m just curious what do you think about them.

They're pretty entertaining, I also find their design to be more successful than Phantom Troupe's design. I mean they all look weird but it somehow works?

I have issues with how Itachi's character is written, but the rest are pretty solid and there's no fumbles from what I remember at the top of my head (well except Kakuzu and Hidan dying like that was a bit ehh but oh well).

Deidara - Funny, the fight between him and Sasuke was such an entertaining fight. I think it's kinda great he doesn't have a sad backstory and he's just crazy.

Sasori - Creepy in a good way, his backstory and how he was linked to Chiyo was well done. I love how Kishimoto included the art of puppetry and his love of Chikamatsu into Naruto through the arc.

Kisame - I like his backstory and how he decided to die without ratting out his pals, a true homie. Nowadays the first thing that comes to my mind when I see Kisame is when someone said Kishi sucks at worldbuilding because it's never explained why Kisame is a sharkman lmao I don't see it that way but oh well.

Hidan & Kakuzu - Funny duo that somehow works despite their different personalities, I kinda liked how despite their arguments they seemed to have some sort of comradery going on. I also find it hilarious Hidan was put with Kakuzu just so Kakuzu would have a partner he wouldn't end up killing. I wish they stayed a bit longer though...

Konan - Great design, respectable female character but a bit underutilized. Love her jutsu, it looks beautiful and cool.

Nagato/Pain - Intimidating, it was cool how he killed someone as strong as Jiraiya. I love how him and Konan look like punk emos. Only thing I dislike is how he brought everyone back lmao but ey shonen logic.

Zetsu - I like the part where Naruto called him Aloe vera.

I've been strolling through your blog and began wondering about one thing: what does it even mean for a ship to become canon? Pretty philosophical, ik. If you ask Google you'd get "ship that got confirmed by series" but that's still pretty vague. Do we count any relationship? (one night stands? unresolved sexual tension? ppl going on dates? loveless marriages? lifelong partnerships? broken relationships? ect.) Even if there are no romantic feelings involved? Even if they're one-sided? After all, being in relationship doesn't equal being in love or being attracted to your partner. What about characters who have mutual romantic interest and/or deep emotional bond but never actually got to be together? I've seen plenty of ships (mainly wlw or mlm tbh) where characters have a thing for each other but due to circumstances and/or tragedy never got together. Love, after all, doesn't have to be shown by kissing, pda or explicit confessions. It can be shown by tiny gestures, sacrifices, bond they share, development, subtle messages, being there for each other, subtext ect. You mostly likely see where I'm going at.

I know it's just my opinion, but I simply can't see that type of 'love' between those two 'canon' ships. Ik definitions of 'love' and 'happiness' varies from person to person, but if I were to ship them, they became canon (got married/had kids) and were like, ahem that, I'd be the first one to protest. This isn't even about dysfunctionality, but about how one-sided it all feels...

Either you won't get an answer or you would get an Explanation post which uses the same templated 10 panels that they use in every posts to explain their ship's "Proof of Love".

However, To answer your Question, "What does it even mean for a ship to become canon?"

From Business Perspective, The Basis on which a ship could become canon is To Bring Out Kids through Crowd Favourite Couples. It's as simple as that.

You mentioned so many types of Relationship like One night stands? Unresolved sexual tension? People going on dates? Loveless marriages? Lifelong partnerships? Broken relationships?. While Naruto is not a Genre to explore all of these, it sure has shown some Reciprocated Relationships even when the plot never required it.

For Example, YahiKonan is a ship which is not all needed by any logic. It didn't add any value to the Overall theme of the story.

But the Author went out of his way show a Love between 2 Orphans who lives in a War-Torn Country.

It all requires just Half a page, you know. Just 3 or 4 panels. I mean picture Yahiko as Naruto... Well, If you can't imagine then I'll help you imagine it...

Tell me, Can you even spot a difference between Naruto and Yahiko?

Especially, Pain Arc is where Kishimoto said that he confirmed NH. Well, it isn't surprising, considering Hinata came out of nowhere to jump before Naruto to fight Pain.

If the Author can make Konan to heal Yahiko's wounds... Can't he able to make Hinata to come check on her Naruto-kun and bandage his wounds for him??? Instead he made Sasuke look-alike, Sai to do the Band-Aid'ing thing here.

It's just that, at every given time the Author could've done something useful for his main 'Canon' couples, he refused to give them anything. Not even a Bread crumb of Reciprocation from the Boys' side.

Leave SNS... I don't care about it for now.

Right after the Pain Arc, he brought YahiKonan out of nowhere in just 3 panels.

He brought MinaKushi out of nowhere in just 3 or 4 pages.

He even brought an excellent closure to DanTsunade by making Dan to kiss Tsunade's forehead.

AND THE WORD RECIPROCATION IS THERE IN ALL THESE 3 HETERO COUPLES.

That's why, Saying... Kishimoto don't know how to write (Hetero) Romance/ Love/ Relationship is just a Joke to me. He knows all too well as to how to establish a reciprocated bond in as little as 3 panels. He could've very well did this for his main 'Canon' couples and You wouldn't be asking this question to me at all. But He didn't do it because he simply wanted to show the Audience that 'This Ship happened for the sole reason to bring out babies for Next Generation'.

So, To become Canon... The Requirement is to be Popular and ***No Homo****.

This is just from a money-making perspective though.

From Shipping/Shippers' Perspective, It was all about Winning the Bragging Rights about how their Self-Inserted dream came true. That's all.

Their thought process goes, 'I have been shipping this couple for 10 Years.... And Hinata/Sakura did so much for these Boys. So, I have to become Canon as a reward for all my efforts.'

In Your Ask, you said so many things about the way the Author can show Love...

It can be shown by tiny gestures, sacrifices, bond they share, development, subtle messages, being there for each other, subtext etc.

All these Gestures you listed here would have been expected by those shippers too. Am not going to deny that. At the end of the day, they are not some emotionless morons.

All because those Couples had Sex and Babies. It's also a general assumption that, in a Media... If a couple got confirmed in the End, it means they loved each other all along.

So, The Lack of Development or Reciprocation, Subtexts, Tiny Gestures, Standing by the Side etc... etc... don't even matter to them. They could fill all the lack of XXX with Fanfics and Fanarts.

At the End of the Day, Winning at all costs is what matters and the Bragging rights it gives them.

So, In Naruto Series... What it means to become Canon???

not a request, just spitballing

Sasuke smut is all good and great BUT I am a firm believer he is was? ig? the biggest virgin known to man

this guy was NOT interested in sex or anything related to it for years for obvious reasons and it's low-key funny to think about how he'd have to either wing it (it'll be a disaster) or go to someone for advice when he got a partner (especially if said partner already has experience)

I'll give it to him that he IS a fast learner though so he'll do great after a few times LMAO

I honestly don't think he is the type to seek advice lol, but I totally believe he tried to wing it from the get go.

He probably got some knowledge in theory - either from talking with other men or doing his own 'research' - so he thought it can't be THAT difficult. The first 2-3 times were definitely a disaster haha, even tho he won't admit it.

Also, I would like to think he definitely got some experience before he eventually got a partner. I've read this headcanon a loong time ago on another blog - that single postwar!Sasuke would have visited brothels at least once or twice during his travels - and honestly in my head it makes soooo much sense that this may have been how he lost his virginity/gained some initial experience.

♚ he met his s/o on a mission to another village

♚ his father was disappointed because as the heir itachi was supposed to marry his cousin

♚ mikoto was supportive and Sasuke was a bit jealous but ultimately happy for his big brother

♚ when he had returned at first, itachi had been a bit forlorn and thought it was one-sided

♚ his hopes rose again however when before the year was over, his love interest actually came to konoha for a diplomatic mission

♚ they hung out as much as possible, with itachi eagerly taking the chance to show the other around the village when they weren’t busy working

♚ as time passed, the two would often meet each other through missions, visiting each other’s land

♚ sasuke was the first family member itachi introduced to his s/o, and he was happy that his partner had been eager to meet sasuke too!

♚ itachi left anbu soon after officially making his feelings known to his partner and became a jounin instead, ready to serve when needed but also focusing on his own life

♚ his s/o didn’t want to leave their land completely either, so they  both tended to be busy a lot

♚ however, their families made sure to take load off of them so they both got to spend quality time together

☾ it honestly took sasuke a while to catch on to the other’s feelings towards him

☾ in fact, he wouldn’t have noticed if Naruto didn’t mention over a bowl of ramen how sakura was jealous of the other shinobi and how they were always making sure sasuke was okay

☾ it put him off a little at first because he thought there was good camaraderie between them both but the other was just romantically interested in him

☾ it took him quite a while to come to terms with it being okay and normal

☾ itachi and naruto may have teamed up once or twice to corner sasuke and give him a talking to about expressing his feelings and accepting other’s feelings

☾ once his disposition started changing, they may have even set up a date or two for sasuke and his admirer

☾ but once he was past those hurdles, he realized that he liked being around the other too, because he could be himself

☾ moreover, their personalities complimented each other pretty well

☾ but most of all, he realized he didn’t want the sudden feeling of loneliness that would grow inside him every time his admirer went back to their village or sasuke and his team came back to konoha from a mission in their land

You just PERFECTLY articulated my sister’s and my number one pet peeve, in a show where for the most part I don’t have a lot of pet peeves, because other than the above issue and the way it treats women, I really do enjoy virtually all of it!  

There is absolutely no reason to try to retcon Naruto’s relationship with Sasuke as “I’m the only one who ever understood you,” because A) this is canonically, textually untrue; all of early Naruto and half of Shippuden are rewatchable proof of this, and B) Naruto’s relationship with Sasuke is already meaningful enough as it is!  You don’t need to take previously established things away from Sakura and Kakashi and try to retroactively re-assign them to Naruto in order to make his relationship with Sasuke seem more important - what Naruto and Sasuke had is already important enough!

It’s okay that Naruto didn’t always understand Sasuke.  They don’t have to have been intimate friends (they weren’t!), and it’s fine for Naruto to have been clueless about Sasuke’s internal world for a long time (he was!).  That’s precisely what makes Naruto’s steadfastness so powerful.  The idea that he cares so much about someone who barely ever gave him the time of day, the idea that he radiates so much love for somebody who has never once demonstrated the slightest sign of loving him back, the fact that his compassion is still relentless and radical and all-encompassing even when it’s directed at someone who never considered him worthy of much consideration - that’s what makes Naruto and Sasuke’s dynamic so meaningful.  That’s why it hits so hard in S10 when Sasuke says he’s going to kill Naruto, and Naruto’s response is a big, bright smile.      

I love Naruto and Sasuke’s relationship, and I never want my frustration with this particular trend to come across as me not caring about it.   But I care about it in a context where Sasuke’s other relationships are allowed to retain their previously established importance.  There are things Sakura understood about Sasuke long before Naruto had a single clue.  There are ways Kakashi was able to connect with Sasuke that Naruto was never able to access.  And of course, there are unique things that Naruto and Sasuke will share between themselves, too - but this story was, in the beginning, about four people and the bonds they built together, not two people with a Super Special relationship and two less invested characters tagging along on the side.  This has always been a team, not a partnership.  And that’s still the only way I’m interested in hearing about this group - all of them mattering to each other, in unique and meaningful ways.

[just as a reminder to folks, since i’m starting to see some signs of naruto traffic on my blog, and i can’t make things non-rebloggable...i’m still watching this show for the first time!  i’m not looking for commentary on this from anyone who isn’t my conversation partner, because even the vaguest discussions will feel “spoilery” to me (by which i mean: i really don’t want my impression of this show colored by external opinions until i’ve already watched it once in isolation).  thanks for understanding!]
