My thoughts on the Travel Season premiere:

I have just finished my Travel Season watch of the two new episodes and wow. I am in awe with this show and the aesthetic they have chosen with it.

For a Worth It fan, it truly does not feel like a copy and paste, but as though it is Worth It's mature, older sibling. The vibes are very calm and peaceful. The show itself focuses very much on the importance of connections and experiences in new environments with the people you share them with. Which leads to these organic funny moments as though they are not trying.

The concept of The Brick (aka the camera) as a staple to the whole show's aesthetic is so smart and cute? Not only does it provide creative graphics/transitions to add in the post production, but it gives the team physical copies of their memories on this trip. Even if this trip is ultimately a work trip. The Brick is just a nice little touch to the show, and reasons like this is why I just love Watcher because they think about every small detail when it comes to the shows they produce.

Jared Sosa also deserves a huge round of applause because not only did he produce the amazing new Watcher intro animation BUT he performed and wrote the Travel Season theme song? AND it's amazing?! Like put this shit on Spotify and I would listen to that song on repeat! It's so good and just truly fits the overall vibes. Just well done Jared.

Also, the boys are back? Like how can you be mad about that?? Could not be me.

Steven, Andrew, Adam, Lizzie, Brittney, Annie, and every person with their hands in Travel Season: y'all have made a wonderful show that is right up my alley... and it could truly become my new all time favorite Watcher show- Weird Wonderful World, you better watch your back👀

I am so excited for the rest of this season and hopefully the future for this show!

it's extremely critical that you see the photo of the perp walk for luigi mangione as being propaganda. i've seen so many people wave it off and instead fawn over his looks. and trust me, i know it ended up being kind of pathetic and weird - but please don't brush it off as a "modelling opportunity" for him. it's a fucking terrifying message the police are sending.

i want to make a few comparisons here, in case you're not from the US or familiar with why the perp walk thing is something to pay attention to. just to set the groundwork for why this is a purposeful, unusual, and cruel act by the nyc police - for why this is not a common occurrence and for why that matters.

the prosecution alleges the show of force is due to the charge of "terrorism." for comparison, in june 2015, tsarnaev was found guilty for the boston marathon bombing, which killed 3 people and injured hundreds. his actions are considered to be an act of domestic terrorism. i have spent the last hour looking through google for pictures of similar to mangione's perp walk - and so far, i have found zero. i also just do not personally remember a moment like that, despite living in boston at the time.

they allege that luigi is a stone-cold killer who carried out a longterm plan, making him particularly dangerous. again for comparison: in nyc, recently cory martin was found guilty of the killing of brandy odom. the murder was planned and premeditated to steal insurance money. and yet no staged perp walk. why didn't her life matter enough for a "show of force"?

but mangione gets paraded by a veritable army of police officers as if he is a rabid animal. for a single citizen who allegedly killed one other single citizen, the "largest perp walk ever" occurs.

so what is the "strong message" that the mayor and the police were trying to send here? the mayor speaks as if mangione is already convicted of terrorism. there is a very thin number of people who feel threatened by the CEO's death. none of us felt like mangione needs to be under massive armed guard.

the message is that you shouldn't resist. they are trying to "make an example" of him - that if you behave badly and kill a single rich person, you'll be treated as if you killed hundreds of people. you will be treated worse than a man who was found guilty of terrorism. you will be considered guilty without trial. the message is that the rich are a protected class, and you cannot touch them without massive punishment. they are trying to prevent a revolution by showing dominance and force against you.

the message is that the police are a puppet of the wealthy and that the law is not equally applied across class disparity. it is "some are more equal than others." it is "one life is more precious than another."

the show of force wasn't for luigi. it was for us. it was a warning. they are trying to remind us who is really in control.

if i see one more article, post, or news anchor talking about how joe biden is old, i'm putting my fist through a window. i feel like i've gone through the fucking looking glass.

this is project 2025, trump's plan for what he'll do if elected. whatever you think is in there, it's worse. watch a breakdown of the highlights here. this man wants to unravel the fabric of our democracy for good - this all aside from his vitriolic hatred of poc, his determination to start ww3, and the fact that he can't string a sentence together without telling outrageous and easily verifiable lies. his administration will start their crusade to exterminate trans people on day one, and they won't stop there.

do not talk to me about how joe biden is old, as if that could ever matter to me more than my life or the lives of my friends and family. my little sister is 14, she's trans, and i don't know what to tell her when we talk about politics, because one of these people wants her dead and the other one is old and some of you are still acting like those problems are equals.

i can't fucking stand this. i'm not hearing it this time, we are not repeating 2016. refusing to vote is not an act of protest, it is an act of complacency, and our most vulnerable will suffer for your negligence. vote like your life depends on it, because for some of us, it really fucking does.
