"A group of 200 UK businesses and charities have signed a pledge that company work weeks will be shortened to 4 days without a loss in pay
Including marketing and advertisement; tech, it, and software; and charity groups as well, the companies employ more than 5,000 people.
Organized by the 4 Day Week Foundation, it follows something less than a trend but more than a fad in which a mixture of employees and executives believe that a happier, more balanced workforce is key to driving productivity.
That balance, they would argue, can be achieved by far more people through the reduction of the 5-day work week to a 4-day one.
“[With] 50% more free time, a four-day week gives people the freedom to live happier, more fulfilling lives,” Joe Royle, the foundation’s campaign director, told the Guardian.
“As hundreds of British companies and one local council have already shown, a four-day week with no loss of pay can be a win-win for both workers and employers.”
This sentiment isn’t shared by all workplaces, but market competition should demonstrate over time whether or not firms that implement unorthodox work hours are in fact as productive or more so than traditional ones.
Economics says that with all else being equal, if enjoying more free time leads to greater employee retention and motivation, then these 4-day work week firms will begin to out-complete the old ones, which in turn will be forced to adapt or risk losing market share.
London firms have been the most enthusiastic, with 59% of the 200 workplaces being located in the capital. With so many firms for talented workers to choose from, it’s no wonder that some are looking to seek advantage in attracting this talent through more desirable working terms.
Last year, GNN reported extensively on a report that was released by a county government in Washington called San Juan, detailing their one-year experiment with a 32-hour, or 4-day work week. In the report, quitting and retiring decreased by 48%, while 55% of employees said their workflow wasn’t interrupted even though they lost an entire working day’s worth of time to complete it.
Even in the famously hard-working nation of Japan, a 4-day workweek seems to strengthen productivity."

Excellent!!! If I have any power, let it be used to get people to play fallen london and its related games (sunless seas, sunless skies = Survival exploration, mask of the rose = visual novel)
#I know three people at least started bc of my suncrab posting which is continously funny bc. You ain't gonna see suncrab in fl#Except for the fact it's everywhere and everything but also plainly. Not.#But I think it's probably a good litmus test for folks who heard “well there's a torrid doomed crab X sun romance” and were intrigued#You are probably the audience to enjoy fallen london. Gothic victorian horror and comedy AND you can lust after giant evil space bats!?#Fallen london#Fallen london is free and highly recommended but also worth saying the other games in universe are good too#If you don't get on with fallen london gameplay itself consider sunless seas or skies or mask of the rose#You know as a teen my dream was to become a successful author but a big facet of that was I wanted to use that power to hype mortal engines#Me cira 14: okay it'd be cool if people read and liked my writing but it'd be cooler to get mortal engines the respect it deserves#Sometimes there's asks#That makes me sound like my dream job was actually influencer but we didn't have those back then. Also. No.

I’ve been fascinated with characters like Millicent and Penstock who became enamored with the bazaar since I ran into them – I even threw my OC that direction! I couldn’t pass up cosplaying Lilac, especially as a fellow body artist IRL.

Getting Back to Work After Time Away

There are many reasons people take time out of work from IT jobs in London and to go through all of the reasons one by one would be slightly pointless. After a significant time away, people do look for different challenges. Worthwhile getting in contact with one or two, an individual IT recruitment agency that can help assist in your search.
Obviously Covid had a big effect, on people not being able to travel, but younger persons do take more of a free outlook on life and think about doing and achieving many different references and goals, that mean something to them and they can put their work-life on hold to do it.
There will always be opportunities for IT jobs in London, that requires a modern-day younger workforce, who can easily relate to new technology and adapt to it far better than an older element. An agency based in London will most probably be better equipped for advising you of positions available and you may not necessarily at first need to register. Go onto their website and view job-posts they have, see if there are any that currently match your skills. The IT recruitment agency may even know about positions that you can take up and complete on the job training, or even day release opportunities or even volunteering, for various programs that offer training in your area of choice.
IT jobs in London and in many other major cities knows the IT sector keeps moving at a pace. Many younger persons who decide to take a year or more out, find when returning back, that things may have changed dramatically, discovering the company they worked for has moved on. Someone else is now in your vacated position. Skills are a big factor in the IT jobs industry and there are many different skill-sets required by all types of companies and businesses in and around London. Yes, some are basic data collection and recording. The IT recruitment agency will be able to guide you through what companies are looking for and this may mean, you will not be able to apply to certain types of positions that currently you have no experience at. They will know what job role could lead to that type of available position and a side step into another related area, may possibly offer a good chance later on, to assist, or at least gain some quality understanding of what you may need to focus on, for training online yourself, applying for an evening course or even seeing if the company would put you forward to this area of IT expertise and what would you need to commit to, to get that opportunity.
Popular IT jobs in London for new and inexperienced candidates, does not mean they are unavailable to you. A proactive IT recruitment agency will have the necessary expertise to advise and guide you into. Do look at the type of vacancies on there books at the moment or simply contact them for a quick chat.

Unironically i do think there are some ppl who engage with Sleep Token more as a boy band that just happens to play metal, rather than a metal band with all the associated cultural etiquette, and I definitely feel like that contributes to the mindset of wanting to know Everything About Them against their express wishes. Do we need to have A Talk about distinguishing how you treat The Men vs The Stage Performance vs The Characters In Lore? Cause some of y’all need to do better.
#my stuff#sleep token#it’s also why both London shows III couldn’t get his pit by asking nicely and Vessel had to square up or yell off-mic#bc X percent of the audience doesn’t know what tf he’s asking for#i don’t think it’s a majority or anything but it is Noticable#the men they are off stage and out of costume are NOT YOUR BUSINESS#when they’re in costume they are doing THEIR JOB#but as soon as they’re off stage and out of costume their interaction with you is OVER#you can make the characters they represent in lore fuck raw for all i care but some of you do not have the critical thinking to be trusted

Bit of a rant, but can we normalize being nice about your opinions?? There’s this account on TT that I won’t name, but their ENTIRE account is claiming to be a “Starlight Express fan page” but all they do is hate on the Wembley 2024 revival. I know people don’t like it, I get why people don’t like it, I understand why people criticize it. But when your ENTIRE presence online is hating- not critiquing- a version of the show you don’t like, making fun of the cast, and ignoring when the cast and their friends comments on your videos telling you to stop being an asshole, that’s going far beyond not liking something. And people try to involve the Bochum cast in this as well! They’ll comment on their videos like “yeah, this is SO much better than the London version!” like, do you not think that makes them uncomfortable? And most of the people who do stuff like this are the same people who hated on 2018 Bochum changes for years, but all of a sudden you LOVE it just because you don’t like the current version? I’m not saying you’re not allowed to share your dislike of London 2024 just because the cast is active on social media and your criticisms might hurt their feelings, but just be a decent person about it. If you don’t like London 2024, don’t comment on the cast’s videos telling them their show sucks. That’s not just “sharing your opinion,” that’s being an asshole. Say you don’t like it, say why you don’t like it. But don’t make fun of the cast and involve cast from versions you like more into it.
#stex#starlight express#stex 2024#its like 3am for me so I might delete in the morning#I would say this goes both ways but it doesn’t#I don’t see people commenting on the Bochum cast videos telling them their choreography is unsafe and that their costumes arent colorful#there are things I don’t like about London 2024 and I get why people HATE it#but you don’t need to hate on cast#its their job#imagine hating on someone for working at McDonalds because you personally don’t like their food#its literally the equivalent to that#I saw someone hating on a cast member for not knowing the complete history of the show#name 5 songs kind of comment#don’t even get me started on people who have never roller skated telling the London cast they’re bad at it

Roshan walks with the two Potts, gazing around at the fields and forests painted in warm colors by the setting sun. He remarks, "It is a lovely view from here."
Gazing outward, past the broken walls he had put up 20 years ago, Arthund nods and says, "Forgot. Forgot how... how pretty it all is."
I recently finished running an original oneshot for some friends, The Reaching Woods. It was a story about a little village surrounded by a big wall and the nearby forest's sudden overgrowth threatening to crush it all. It was also a story about blame and guilt.
Arthund Potts, when we met him, could barely speak at all. Too many years spent drinking and weeping. If he was even conscious he was all grunts and sloppy gestures. The scene above was at the end of the oneshot (okay, eighteenshot), once the party returned from the dark, evil woods.
