Wait, evil Uma Thurman? I thought she was just evil by default.
(/j)
Listen, I was unaware that after waiting approximately 532 years for Old Guard 2, we were going to be blessed with Charlize Theron AND Uma Thurman as bitter angry lesbian ass-kicking immortal exes (Shh. They are clearly exes. She was Andy's first ever wife and then they broke up badly and haven't seen each other in a cool five thousand years or so. This is canon to me now and literally nothing will disprove it). But then that gift arrived to us in this terrible terrible year of our lord 2025, and we all sat up and went REALLY? OH PLEASE MAY I HAVE IT? OH PLEASE MAY I HAVE IT? in the voice of Dug from Up.
On a slightly less mindless-sapphic-drooling note of attempted media analysis, I am hoping that this means Quynh is not the bad guy and is just being manipulated and will eventually rejoin the rest of the Immortal Fam, but also. Charlize Theron and Uma Thurman will be kicking each other's asses with a lot of pent up immortal lesbian rage on my personal television on ye olde Netflix in July. Which is somehow and cruelly not here yet. Waiter, fetch me a JUMBO bucket of popcorn and also my bunk.

BTS of #RWRBMovie: Alex comes out to his mom
From CineMagna:
TZP: It was not focusing on that coming out moment, not calling it that, and just more of a having a conversation with those that are near and dear to you. So it’s less of an event, and again, we just start normalizing this in society, and in the home, so it’s unique in that way.
From Hindustan Times:
ML: It was one of my favourite scenes of the novel. I am 46, and I did not get that scene when I came out at 21. And I say that with love and gratitude to my parents who have been on a journey since that day alongside me. The world has changed since I came out to my parents and I always thought that in the novel there is something really that is just of perfectly matter of fact about the way he (Alex) does it, which doesn't make it in any way less special or even less scary for him. Honestly I think in some ways that scene might be more for the parents watching the movie than for queer kids. Of course I hope that queer kids respond to the scene but for me that scene without question Uma's greatest scene in the film and I think she brought to it her own experiences as a mother of three children, as an actor with so many different friends who probably came out to her over the years. She's remarkable in that scene and I can watch Taylor relax into it because of the way she decided to perform it. Again, I promise you I did a lot of work in this movie but when you have a cast like this in your movie so much of your work is done for you. That scene works because of Uma and Taylor. They knew how to play it, they did it beautifully.
From OutSFL:
ML: That scene was just so beautiful. By the time we shot it, she and Taylor had really bonded, and they had shot a lot of scenes together at that point. It was the loveliest, warmest environment on set. I mean, it was a very lovely, warm environment on set every day, but that day you can just see in that scene the genuine affection that these two actors have for one another. It was real.
From Collider:
ML: Just getting to be on set with Uma [Thurman] and Taylor, that day. Just playing the scene, I remember Uma stopping for a moment and just shaking her head. I was like, “What’s up?” And she just went, “She’s just so cool.” I was like, “Yeah.” And she was like, “Man, I wish she was real.” In that scene, I just really wanted to give the audience a sense of a mother who gets it. It helps that she’s President of the United States because you also want a president who gets it like that. I love Taylor’s performance in that scene because Alex, in that moment, is just like, “Oh, my God, mom, you need to stop it!” For as cool as Ellen is and as prepared for this conversation as she is, the comedy comes from the fact that Alex is, in no way, prepared for his mother to be that prepared.

Aneesh on IG live: (part 4, additional facts)
Amy's wife in the movie wasn't casted but she wears a ring, so it actually shows her married status
Tumblr media
Matthew is a wonderful director: if he sees you struggling he'd help you asking "how can I help you reaching what you want to reach? Let's figure it out together."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, Tzp and Nick are good friends (if it was necessary mentioning)
The RWRB cast texts even in private and she said she received texts from Matthew and Nick even the day of the live
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amy wasn't at the polo match (in case we get to see the extended version of it, she won't appear)
The night of the movie release everyone was super happy and waking up to the news of top 1 on Amazon Prime made all of them very proud
Everything was shot in London
Tumblr media
The cast bonded a lot and they used to go out dinner (even before start shooting), Aneesh went to theater with Rachel and to a Filipino restaurant with Casey
David was a working dog so he couldn't be casually petted or played with but Aneesh was able to give him a little pet when she was allowed to
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One thing she learned from playing Amy: be a badass and don't apologize for it
Aneesh wasn't on set the day of the cake scene but Matthew kept giving updates through texts
Tumblr media
Just like movie Nora is a mix of book June and Nora, movie Amy ended up being a mix of book Cash and Amy because of time management (+ she didn't hide June in her pocket, it's just conspiracy 😔💔)
Uma Thurman is very sweet
Her favorite line was "No one in their right mind would ever give you a gun"
She read the book 5 times. 2 before even shooting and 2 in the process (the other one either before auditioning or after shooting was over, not sure). Now her book is full of tags and highlighted in lots of colors
Tumblr media
If she could add a characteristic from book Amy, she wanted to have her knitting on the plane but the scene was already very full of elements and even if she discussed it with Matthew, they weren't able to implement it
She trained before starting shooting not knowing what the demands to play Amy were and weapons training was also discussed but eventually cut so she didn't have to go through it
The last day of shooting they had a rap party and Matthew gave a lil speech
She said she was going to post a video about her bangs and she did☺
Here for part 1, part 2, part 3

So, what spurned me to start this whole project was the idea of Mattel doing Skullectors of other movies and I wanted to make my designs of Little Shop of Horrors.
Since Audrey II is such an abstracted design from a humanoid, it gave me the freedom to do what I wanted. I went with a drag queen-style look, which I feel would be perfect for Monster High's aesthetics.
I went with Clawdia as a base sculpt because she was the only open-mouth sculpt and I thought it would be a fun base to work with.
She's rooted with nylon hair from @customdollhairau I custom dyed for some other dolls but ion streaks to mimic the plant design as well.
I initially chose a Gasglow-style mouth full of teeth, but after sitting with the face for a bit, I decided to draw it back a bit.
Since the original design didn't have eyes, I went with desaturated tones for her to mimic the look of plant markings. Instead of eyelashes, I went with teeth designs, as that was fun and made her eye makeup look like lips. I also went with desaturated tones for surrounding her eyes.
Her eyebrows are in reference to Uma Thurman's Poison Ivy look, and painting all those leaves was a bit hard for me.
She's so outside of my usual custom set, but I'm really proud of how she looks now.

Thoughts on The Old Guard 2 (spoilers)
I said I had thoughts, and here are some of them. First off, I didn't know going into it that this was going to be a two-parter. As of right now, I have not seen anything about a third movie being green-lit, so it was incredibly bold of them to give us an incomplete story when Netflix is notorious for cancelled shit before it's finished.
And honestly, that's my biggest gripe about this sequel: it's incomplete. And the incomplete story we got was missing the heart and soul of what made the original so engaging. They made the stakes part of the action, when in the first one, the stakes were always the characters. The story failed to give us a fleshed out villain, glossed over the major character conflict presented at the end of the original film, and introduced new lore that was out of line with what was presented in the first movie. It also rendered the biggest, most compelling part of the movie (the reunion between Andy and Quynh) superficial. For a movie that would have been simply "okay" had it been complete, it ended up being completely unfulfilling in every way.
Let's start there: Andy and Quynh. Or rather, Quynh herself. We went into this sequel knowing only what Andy has shared about Quynh. They had the perfect opportunity to play with the dynamics of that, exploring who Quynh really is outside the lens of Andy's guilt and heartache. But of course, they first had to address Quynh's reaction to being back in the world, and her emotions around being abandoned for 500 years. This was addressed, to a degree. I enjoyed the fight between them-- to me, that scene in the streets presented combat as a sort of love language between them. It made sense that Quynh and Andy, warriors at heart, would resort to violence when words failed them.
It also made sense for Quynh to be supremely pissed at Andy. That part made sense, it felt organic. To have spent 500 years continuously drowning, believing that Andy was similarly suffering-- only to find Andy has been out and about? And no longer looking? Gah, that got me bad. But we then got nothing more from her. We only got the rage-- we didn't get to see her process her sense of betrayal, her resentment. We didn't even get to explore what drew her to join Discord's cause.
Speaking of Discord... what a poor excuse for a villain. The writers really did her-- and us-- dirty by not giving us more to work with. Imagine having Uma Thurman on board and giving her absolutely nothing to do. All we really got was other people telling us her back story, and her communicating a cryptic and unexplored connection with Nile. She had been gathering wealth and power for millenia-- okay. How? Where? We didn't see how she garnered loyalty among her men, leaving us to assume she simply pays them to do their job. Which-- since they seemed to know they were up against regenerating immortal warriors who have spent centuries learning how to kill-- is a stretch to me.
We also didn't see why Discord stole the red books from the library, nor what made the red tomes special (and they must be, since a) they're red among gray, and b) Discord stole them). Why did no one ask about them? Why didn't Tuah volunteer the information?
Also, the lore about Nile being the last immortal doesn't match the original film. The wound that didn't heal was on Andy's back-- Nile stabbed her from the front. And the fight between Booker and Nile and Tuah was kind of bogus. Booker and Nile, sure, we know Booker's motivation. But why did Tuah just join the fray, instead of pulling Booker out of it? It just doesn't make logical sense.
There was just so much left unexplored that when the movie ended in a to-be-continued I was completely unsatisfied. Comparing it to Across the Spiderverse (another surprise two-parter), the difference between the two was that Spiderverse gave us enough story before the cliffhanger that I was able to walk out of the theater feeling that I had watched a good movie.
The Old Guard 2 did not.

[initial reactions] Old Guard 2
I liked this!
However!
The major con to the movie is that this felt more like a first part of a two-parter set-up and this movie NEEDS an Old Guard 3 ASAP.
I really like Quynh and her actress really brought her A-game. And, honestly, her crash out anger is not as bad as it could've been. I've been witness to worse! Like, her anger and resentment were valid, she had to endure centuries of drowning again and again.
The vampires in fiction this drowning happened to, only endured doing so for months only and that drove them a little mad.
It also make sense the shock of turning mortal has shifted her perspective and priorities.
And as soon as Quynh and Andy stopped fighting they fall back into old patterns and their humor.
Booker getting an expiration date is a bittersweet moment. It's what he's wanted for so long because as the Doctor in Doctor Who mentioned, sometimes being immortal is just watching everyone you love, die. At least he got to choose how he went out, and atoning for the wrong he did.
Also, Joe is such a soft touch and it's obvious that Joe is the more forgiving of the two and Nicky holds a big grudge.
Tuah was an unexpected surprise in the form of Henry Golding, he might give up his immortality soon too but who knows? Different people react to having an 'expiration date'.
Nile's importance too is interesting. I want to delve in more into how this immortal mechanics work. How and why did other immortals loose their immortality before Nile was born? And why is Nile the last immortal? Does this First and last immortal thing work via Highlander rules?
(As an aside, I like what we saw of Nile but I wanted more from she was a co-lead in the last movie so I want more from her POV, and I will be happy to wait for a third movie, AS LONG AS NETFLIX GREENLIGHTS THE DAMNED MOVIE.)
Also, why was Uma Thurman (sorry I can't call her Discord because that's so... edgy teen nickname) so angry at Andy? It feels more than what she's been saying.
The other very glaring thing in the movie is that I can feel the hand of Netflix pulling away from queer shows and movies and giving a note to the production to cut any scenes of the couples in the show. It's such a heavy hand, and unfortunate.
TLDR. I liked this but also GREENLIGHT A THIRD MOVIE NETFLIX. WHY ARE STREAMING SERVICES SO DAMNED SLOW GREENLIGHTING NEW SEASONS AND SEQUELS?!

Today's (6/13/2025) Episode: Love Day Detour
Skye should have been more careful in wishing for xir pregnancy to wrap up, as fate saw fit to give xem a problematic finale.
It began with Elyse surprising xem with a box of treats and a dinner reservation at Jungle Jam. “Happy Love Day, darling,” she murmured “I remember how you raved about that place in your article. I can’t wait to try it!”
Skye tried to smile back nonchalantly, even though xe was secretly freaking out. Betty and I went there all the time. There’s no way I won’t be recognized. What am I going to do!?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Skye had felt nauseous and uncomfortable all morning, a condition xe was sure had everything to do with the stress of the upcoming dinner date.
“I’m sorry,” xe told her “I know you wanted to watch a movie, but I’m exhausted. Plus, the baby is running out of room. I think I finally understand what Grandpa was complaining about.” Skye grimaced as another wave of discomfort washed over xem. “I’m going to go lie down for a bit, OK?”
“Of course,” she said, patting xir stomach fondly. “I think I’ll get comfortable too. Maybe sketch the landscape for a bit. It’s so beautiful here.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Elyse changed and stepped outside, Skye slowly made xir way upstairs to the bed they now shared.
The strange, intermittent discomfort xe was experiencing made relaxing difficult, but xe finally drifted off into dark and restless dreams. “No, please, don’t do this!” Skye screamed, tears streaking down xir face as Bruce sealed xir coffin and Elyse laughed.
The baby kicked hard against xir ribs, a violent jolt that sent pain exploding through Skye’s body.
🎵 She wants to dance like Uma Thurman, bury me ‘til I confess… 🎵
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Skye jolted awake as the worst cramp yet tore through xem. Xe struggled upright once it passed, trying to catch xir breath. What is going on!?
Elyse, who had just come in, heard xem cry out and rushed up the stairs. “Skye, is everything all right? Teddy, what’s wrong!?”
“I don’t know. I’ve been feeling off all day. Maybe the baby’s just running out of space. Every time they try to move, it makes me cramp up. It wasn’t so bad until…” Xe broke off with a moan. “Oh Grim, not again… This really hurts.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Honey… I think you're in labor,” Elyse said, her face tight with worry.
“But I can’t be!” Skye protested. “The doctor said I need a C-section!”
“Skye, I know what I’m talking about.” She reached out, helping xem to xir feet. “You remember I was visiting when Mom went into labor with Moses? This looks exactly like that. You need to spin into an everyday outfit, and then we need to get you to the hospital.”
Skye hung xir head, defeated. If ELYSE is suggesting anyone needs to go to the hospital the situation must really be dire…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I’m sorry I ruined everything,” xe said at last. Though at least now we won’t be going to Jungle Jam…
“Nonsense. You didn’t ruin anything,” Elyse protested gently. “This is the best Love Day gift you could possibly give me.” She smiled, trying to hold it together despite the panic rising in her own chest. “Now get changed and let’s get going. I’ll call Betty and Greyson to meet us there.”
At the mention of Betty, Skye’s stomach tightened. Then the pain hit, fast and unforgiving, and xe reached for the dresser to stay upright. Elyse stepped closer, her hand resting gently on xir back. “Oh teddy,” she whispered. “I’m so sorry you have to go through this.”
Skye gritted xir teeth. The pain was bad enough, but it was the guilt that tipped the situation over the edge into truly unbearable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Skye descended the stairs in silence, body aching and thoughts churning. I don’t know how to handle this, xe thought, staring down at xir aching, rock-hard belly. I didn’t do anything to prepare for labor. What if something’s wrong and that’s why the baby’s trying to come now!?
Xe wanted to protect Elyse from xir fear. You don’t deserve her kindness, you dirty cheater, a little voice hissed. Guilt burned in xir chest, but at the bottom of the stairs, another contraction hit, and the pain won. “I’m scared,” xe whispered, the words spilling out like they had a life of their own.
“It’s going to be OK,” Elyse assured xem, her voice calm despite the strain. “Betty and Greyson will meet us there, and I’m calling Mom for ideas to help with the pain. We’ll get through this.”
She took hold of Skye’s arm and guided xem towards the teleporter, towards help, and the moment that would change for their family forever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So… I learned during this playthrough that sims can’t actually go into labor on vacation.
I had temporarily paused Skye’s pregnancy in the 3**rd trimester after Elyse arrived to give me a little more time to get some things done, and then I manually put them into labor using MC Command Center when I was ready. I couldn’t figure out why I had no option to go to the hospital… so I looked it up and found out that if I hadn’t interfered it seems Skye would have just stayed in the 3**rd trimester until xe got home from the trip.
Tumblr media
Starting next week with G11’s birth, I’ll be shifting to a 3x/week posting schedule (Mon/Wed/Fri). Still here, still writing, just adjusting the pace a bit to keep things sustainable. Thanks for understanding 💛

Note
What's that fetish thing you just posted referring to?
I intentionally wanted to keep it vague but it goes for a lot of things.
I'll use myself as an example to summarize it concisely.
I'm not gay. But I have a homosexuality fetish.
I draw gay stuff sometimes or fap-off to gay fantasies because I have a fetish for orientation play and the concept of homosexuality, but I have literally zero attraction to men in reality.
I've met an overwhelming number of people who have a very strong fetish and are ULTRA horny, and make claims about themselves and get really defensive about those claims, but I can very clearly see they are just someone with a fetish.
Which is fine, but THEY don't realize that, and in not realizing that they're mistaking their fetish for their personality and it's making everyone around them extremely uncomfortable.
Just like if I were to constantly talk about gay furry porn to people and act like my whole lifestyle revolves around it, it's something that should be kept private due to its extreme sexual and inappropriate nature. Nobody should be openly talking about things they goon to and demanding people respect them for it.
And this all stems from people having convinced themselves they're not just someone with a fetish.
Like imagine how uncomfortable foot-models who are actually foot models must get when foot fetishists get into the industry. Example: Uma Thurman's allegations about Terantino.
"Hey we're gonna put the camera on your dirty feet for like 10 minutes of screentime and you're gonna keep saying wiggle your big toe over and over. Okay thanks Uma." >Years later >"Hey by the way I have a foot fetish :)"
That's how it is.
I'm sitting here watching literally hundreds if not thousands of people trying to be part of a community when they're not actually part of that community. If I went to a gay bar and just started telling people I'm straight but I love jacking off to gay furry porn, I'd probably get kicked out and would offend everyone there.
This wasn't concise but you get what I'm gettin' at here?
If you have a fetish, everyone reading this, that's fine.
But don't invade the communities of people who aren't fetishizing that community and act like you're one of them. You're a pervert. It's fine to be a pervert if you're doing it in your own home by yourself or with other perverts, but bringing your porn-obsessed fetishization of their community into their community is horribly wrong.
Thanks for coming to my JAY Talk.

hi. i wish to get more into bands. where should i start with fall out boy. (i mean with their first album obviously but like. what are their albums and what other things have they released etc.) thanks!
This is a long answer, so be prepared!
There are two eras to Fall Out Boy: pre-hiatus(anything released b4 2009) and post hiatus (anything after 2013)*.
*the group went on a brief hiatus, lasting from 2009-2013.
I also decided to add some abbreviations for you!
One of the first things the group ever released was an EP called Evening Out With Your Girlfriend (EOWYG) in March 2003. The band doesn't like to credit this as their first album, however, due to a few factors: production was rushed and they weren't happy with the final result, Andy wasn't on the album, and then the record label had the audacity to release this WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION!
The band considers their next album, Take This To Your Grave (TTTYG), released in May 2003, to be their true debut album. It's got songs like Dead On Arrival, Grand Theft Autumn / Where's Your Boy?, Saturday, and Chicago Is So Two Years Ago.
Before the release of From Under The Cork Tree, they released another EP called My Heart Will Always Be the B-Side to My Tongue in May 2004. This EP was also accompanied by a DVD.
Their second album, From Under The Cork Tree (FUTCT), was released in May 2005. It has such songs as Sugar, We're Goin' Down, A Little Less Sixteen Candles, and Dance, Dance. The deluxe version of this album adds five new songs to the album: Snitches And Talkers Get Stitches And Walkers, The Music Or The Misery, a demo for My Heart Is The Worst Kind Of Weapon, and remixes of Sugar, We're Goin' Down and Dance, Dance.
Their third album, Infinity On High (Infinity/IOH), was released in 2007. Here's a little fun fact: I was born one month to the day after IOH was released. Anyways, this album has songs like I'm Like A Lawyer..., Thks fr the Mmrs, and This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race. The deluxe version of this album adds three new songs to the album: GI.N.A.S.F.S., It's Hard To Say "I Do" When I Don't, and three live performances of Thriller, Dance, Dance, and This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arm Race.
Folie a Deux (Folie) was the last album Fall Out Boy released before going on their brief hiatus in 2008. It is speculated that the reception of this album contributed to their hiatus. This has songs such as I Don't Care, America's Suitehearts, and What A Catch, Donnie.
[the group goes on their hiatus from 2009-2013]
In April 2013, the group returned in full swing with Save Rock & Roll (SRAR). This album has My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark, Miss Missing You (my personal fav), and Alone Together. All of the songs on this album got music videos and tell a story called The Youngblood Chronicles (go look it up, it's a fun watch).
In January 2015, they released American Beauty/American Psycho (AB/AP). This has songs has Jet Pack Blues, Fourth of July, Uma Thurman, and Centuries.
In January 2018, MANIA was released. This has songs such as Church, Bishops Knife Trick, and Last of the Real Ones. This album has very mixed reviews.
They released yet another EP called Lake Effect Kid in August 2018.
[five years later]
In March 2023, Fall Out Boy dropped So Much (For) Stardust (SMFS). This has such songs as Love from the Other Side, Hold Me Like a Grudge, the title track, and their cover of We Didn't Start The Fire.
I left out a couple of things, like Make America Psycho Again (an album filled with remixes of their songs from AB/AP), an EP filled with remixes of Thks fr the Mmrs (one of which features Kanye West???), and a live album. They also have a bunch of covers floating around the internet, so it would be damn near impossible to name them all.
I hope this helped!

I realized that I really don't care about any comments made on the boys' (especially Taylor’s) acting; I am not going to let them get to me at all anymore. You know why?
It occurred to me that the character that Alex has the most screen time with, excluding Henry for obvious reasons, is his mother. And you know who plays Alex's mother right? Uma fucking Thurman.
If Uma had a problem with Taylor's acting, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't have agreed to the film, or been much harsher with criticism to make him improve. Taylor has only ever said how amazing she was to work with and let me list the things he has said about working her for this:
that she was lovely and giving
that she also wanted to forge a personal connection with him
that despite having a very short amount of time to build their relationship for the screen they developed that connection through hugs, touches, little conversations
that they went to lunch together
that she was a professional who made him feel safe
that she didn't treat him like "that younger actor"
that she would improv at him and they tried different things throughout the filming
that she's a very skilled and competent actor
Here's the link to the video interview I pulled this from. Taylor talks about Uma from 3:06 to 4:28 if you don't feel like searching for it, or watching the whole thing. I'm sure he's also talked about her in written interviews, but I'm not going hunting for it because this post is already longer than I meant for it to be, and I'm writing it on an Wacom art tablet at my school's lab while taking what was supposed to only be a few minute-long break from my digital sculptures that I've been struggling and behind on for over a week. 🥲
Everything about the way Taylor talks about her and working with her gives me the impression that she would not hold back criticism. She's been in the industry for a long time, and knows the ins and outs of it. She sounds like a person who would not be afraid to say something if they saw an area that needed improvement, and that she would be respectful and nice about it while doing so.
It occurred to me that if Uma fucking Thurman did not see him as a bad actor, then the opinions of random strangers, most of whom have never set foot on a stage/set, don't matter at all.

#Did you know that this is a cover?📌
"But we all often glorify the former, not knowing that we glorify only the latter..."
Agree, it's a bit insulting if you were the first to perform (or even worse, write and perform) some kind of song, and all the laurels and national love were collected by someone else's cover, which, in addition, many perceive as the original.
«Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon»
Tumblr media
Neil Diamond The Bang Years 1966-1968
Needless to say, the soundtrack to the movie "Pulp Fiction" (1994) is almost all good. But there is also a favorite here - the charming song "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon" performed by the band URGE OVERKILL. The one that Uma Thurman's character dances to before sniffing the wrong powder.
youtube
Knowing the love of director Quentin Tarantin for the "old" music of the 1950s and 70s, it is not surprising that the song turned out to be old - albeit in a new performance. It was written and released as a single back in 1967 by American singer Neil Diamond. And, although the song was already in the TOP 10 at that time, over the years it had been forgotten.
youtube
«Hallelujah»
Tumblr media
The song "Hallelujah", which has already tired the listener with countless covers, actually went to its glory for a very long time. The original 1984, recorded by the author of the song - Leonard Cohen - almost no one noticed.
youtube
In 1994, "Hallelujah" was recorded by Jeff Buckley on his album Grace. He abandoned the rich arrangement and performed the song simply with an acoustic guitar. As it turned out, it is this kind of performance that will really touch the audience. But the young man will not live to see this moment. After all, at first his album was not selling well, and in 1997 Buckley drowned in the river. Only 10 years later, "Hallelujah" was re-released as a single, the single became "platinum", after which there was no end of those who wanted to sing the song.
youtube
«White Dove»
Tumblr media
On the collections of ballads by the German band SCORPIONS, released since 1994, you can find a composition called "White Dove" ("White Dove"), dedicated, as it is not difficult to guess, to "world peace". Many rock music fans of the older generation know perfectly well where the legs of this beautiful song "grow from." But the younger ones may need to be enlightened...
youtube
To do this, we need to go back 25 years to the time of the existence of the Eastern European socialist bloc, which included Hungary. It was in Hungary that one of the most famous rock bands of the socialist camp, called OMEGA, appeared.
The career of Magyar rockers began quite successfully. In 1968, they were noticed by British manager John Martin and invited to tour the Foggy Albion. OMEGA's debut album was also released there under the characteristic name "Omega Red Star from Hungary" — "OMEGA — red star from Hungary" (at home the record was called differently "Trombitas Fredi es a rettenetes emberek").
youtube
The group wanted to record a second album in Britain, but the Hungarian leadership did not visit OMEGA to the capitalists They liked it, and they were banned from traveling to Britain. But in vain. It was the 1969 record, "10000 lepes" ("10000 steps"), that the band released very successfully.
It was on it that OMEGA's biggest hit "Gyongyhaju Lany" ("Girl's Hair") was recorded — a beautiful ballad with a fashionable psychedelic tinge and a piercing anthemic chorus that could be sung along with the audience. In the spirit of the times, there was also a romantic and mystical text about a mysterious beauty with pearl hair, instilling light and hope into people's souls.
youtube
In 1970, "Gyongyhaju Lany" was released as a single and topped the Hungarian charts for 60 weeks.
Feeling the great potential of the song, the band recorded two more versions called "Pearls in her Hair": English ("Pearls in her hair") and German ("Perlen im Haar").
to be continued....

was it u (forgive me if not) who had the theory that dnp celebrate their anniversary in april/may and not october bcs of when they tend to go on holiday... bcs this recent vacation fits into that theory... esp since tit actually interfered with their 15 yrs
it was me! you can find deets in my anniversary theory tag. however. phil slipped early during the run of tit and said december would be 15 years of dan and phil (source).
which like. december lines up perfectly with the week of the uma thurman tweet/nature boy dailybooth post. which i went on about at length here before phil even dropped the december comment.
so i don't think i was entirely off the mark with my theory—i think that the blackpool trip was them observing the six month anniversary of when they first met, and i think japhan was a follow up to that and their ongoing tradition of springtime trips follows that loosley too?
but i think they put a label on it that week in december, and i think that's when they count their anniversary from <3

I got tagged by the lovely @clockworkvenus! thank you!!

Favourite colour: Red! Second is blue, then purple. Very much into that side of the colour wheel lol.
Last song: I was just listening to my vinyl version of LP's Lost On You record, so that finished off with Long Way To Go To Die
Currently reading: Elliot Page's memoir, Page Boy. I bought it months ago and as part of my self-care summer, I'm learning to read for fun again after being in grad school for so long (and still currently am but I'm in a bit of a lull period atm). I've got Gillian Anderson's want book as well as a physical copy of Tamsyn Muir's Gideon The Ninth to read eventually (I started the audio book last summer when I was driving home to my family but the narrator's voice was way too soothing and I was getting too sleepy to keep driving 😭). So I got the physical copy :)
Currently watching: I'm on season 18 of my Grey's Anatomy rewatch that started back in October after my last breakup (LOL), and I was watching the final season of The Handmaid's Tale as it was airing but that's done now. So I think I'll see what's on my backlog and start something alongside Grey's cuz I can't watch that ALL time. It's gotten so... mid LOL.
Currently craving: I just had my Sunday pancake breakfast, but I'm craving the leftover butter "chickpea" meal for dinner later that my current partner sent me home with from last night - they're a fantastic cook.
Coffee or tea: coffee!!!!! I love coffee. I do like tea - peppermint or green or other herbal blends - but my preference is a bold medium roast drip coffee w a bit of cream and a pinch of sugar. I love me both hot and iced vanilla lattes (but also I love going to new cafes and getting the barista to just give me their best/favourite flavour of latte to try it out).
Last song I sang out loud: I sing a LOT when I'm by myself or in the car. But I definitely was singing along to LP's Lost On You when it was playing on my record earlier.
Favourite chip flavour: Ruffles brand All-Dressed. Miss Vickie's Salt n Vinegar. Lays Dill Pickle. In that order.
Last book I opened: Pageboy, as above lol.
Earbuds vs. headphones vs. nothing: WIRED EAR BUDS. Even if my headphones are technically bluetooth, they are WIRED TOGETHER. I never want airpod style ear buds; I will LOSE THEM. I use over the head headphones for gaming.
Last place I went to other than home: my partner's place last night :) Their cat likes me now and that feels good lol.
A colour that looks good on me: I've been told that jewel tones really go well with my complexion and dark hair; particularly, I have a few dark red / burgundy shirts that said partner loves to see on me. I also love anything navy / dark blue, and I want to branch out into some teals soon.
Last trailer I saw: the one for The Old Guard 2 because Uma Thurman is in it!!!
--
I gotta tag 6 people so lets go to people I see on the dash rn: @outofpuddle @slayerdurge @averyfortshire @nerdnproud @dammithawke and @vas-rayya - no pressure to do it ofc!

5 Songs
Fall Out Boy - Uma Thurman
Woodkid - Iron
Imagine Dragons - Bones
The Smashing Pumpkings - Tonight, Tonight
KISS - Heaven's On Fire
One from each of my favorite playlists :)
Questions
1. Three ships you like:
Gale/Astarion BG3! Nobody pried bloodweave from my cold dead hands yet.
never stopped being a Brienne/Jaime (A Game of Thrones) truther
Also not sure if it counts (it does because I say so), but I love each and every friend OC paired with literally anyone out there? They are my favorite characters and I love seeing them happy in my friend's loving daydreams.
2. First ship ever: Oh. That's a hard one, because for a very long time I just...didn't? I enjoyed romance in media I consumed but never went out of my way to ship any of the characters outside of canon. I think the first that comes to mind is Bishop from Neverwinter Nights 2 and my OC at the time? I think I even wrote some fanfiction with them those years ago. Does this count? :D
3. Last song you heard: Eisbrecher - Rette mich
4. Favorite Childhood Book: I remember having a beautifully illustrated fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen, read that one so many times the pages started to fall out...I don't remember what happened to it!
5. Currently Reading: Malleus by Dan Abnett, as part of The Omnibus. (also am in tears over it, too)
6. Currently Watching: Nothing, no time!
7. Currently Craving: fresh orange juice would change my life for the better if I could have it now.
Tagging (a long one [for me], because I am filled with *feelings* today) @iamaweretoad, @malewife-mansplain-magus, @schmooplesthesecond, @mightymizora, @aylinvail, @lylakoi, @bnbc and anyone who stumbled upon this and wants to give it a try 💜

WIP Whenever
I have so many wips (especially Cyberpunk) it ain't even funny. Let's check them out, shall we?
Tumblr media
I intended on finishing this for Valentine's Day. I got to the rendering phase, as you can see, when I realized I think Johnny canonically has a massive scar on his stomach and chest. Kinda lost motivation to continue because I thought "Oh nooo I have to sketch and line and color something all over again oh noooo". Moving on-
Tumblr media
God fuck do not ask me about the amount of references I had to screenshot myself, and the amount of fan art I collected in order to understand Songbird's chrome. The whole sketch has been finished for quite some time, but is is SO hard to line. I do hope I can return to this one some day because I have the full illustration in mind and in my head; it looks beautiful.
Tumblr media
Painting practice. I didn't even get to the painting phase. Would you believe me if I said I spent most of the time sketching his beard? I've only drawn Takemura a few times, and each of those times has been a lovely painting. This one was going to be no different (except for the colored lighting I was going to choose).
Tumblr media
I can't BELIEVE I haven't seen anyone parody the Pulp Fiction poster with Evelyn. I swear she looks so much like Uma Thurman! A lot of work went into sketching, lining, and coloring this. It wasn't until I colored the blanket and added a texture for a background that I just didn't like the direction this piece was going in (In terms of the color palette, textures). I think if I can find the motivation to return to this, I would start over at the coloring phase and work from there.
