Posting one compilation of replies in regards to Fandom Problem 5203, and ensuing replies.
Anon:
Re: 5203 some of you are have quite the “piss on the poor” moment. That anon was literally harassed, a commissioner asks for their oc to be drawn, anon said no, commissioner proceeds to tell everyone anon is fucking fatphobic. Learn to read. Also dying at 30-40 when you’re like 500 lbs is just unfortunate reality.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anon: (in response to this ask)
No it doesnt but do you wanna count how many fat positivity activists have died around that age because they've convinced themselves its okay to be obese and that they shouldn't try to be healthy or lose weight, or should i? And I don't feel entitled to peoples money. I was confused as to why they commissioned me of all people in the first place. Go ahead and give someone else your money. You cant guilt trip me into drawing fat characters with the "they exist and people draw them" argument. I am very well aware of that fact due to the fact that i have been fat before. Not just chubby, but literally over obese. You don't get to make me feel guilty for not wanting to draw something i view as harmful, something IVE LIVED THROUGH, just because you want to feel justified in harming yourself. I hope you get better and treat yourself better instead of giving up and allowing yourself to wallow in misery.🫰
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anon: (in response to this ask)
No ones saying you can't have an unhealthy lifestyle when you are skinny, being under weight and not taking care of your body's needs is not healthy . Most of your weight is probably muscle. Not all fat is bad and if your are doing sports you need a bit of fat or else its gonna eat at your muscles. The human body cannot live without fat. But only having fat? Being a hundred pounds over? two hundred pounds over? And its aaall fat? Look I don't agree with a lot of weight loss culture. It's greedy and predatory and often has unrealistic expectations. But just watching your portion sizes, cutting down on fatty meat, eating more veggies, and filler if your body can handle it, cut down on sodas and candy and just taking a 3 mile walk every day you can, fix your sleep schedual, will do so much to improve your health. You may not lose all your weight and it will be hard at first, but you will feel a difference. You just feel better as a human being when you are taking care of yourself. The biggest reason people give up on weight loss is because they want instant and lasting changes. And you cant have both without keeping up with the effort. You didnt gain all your weight in a few months, so you cant expect to lose it in a few months. You have to put in the effort to find a lifestyle that works for you and that you can keep up with. It takes years and patience and self control. And its hard work. A lot of people arent used to living like that. Its legitimately life changing. You have to change, you have to change your life in order to lose weight and keep it up. Its the same for underweight people too. Its hard on them too.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anon: (in response to this ask)
I am the one that said im skinny now. Skinny does not mean unhealthily underweight. I'm not skin and bones but I don't have much belly chub now(some people can't help that though due to genetics). I walk a lot so my thighs have a lot more weight to them. I can move around freely and have more strength and stamina and honestly feel better than even when i was a child. I'm not starving myself to the point i can barely keep myself alive okay.
Anon:
"Lack of attraction towards fat people stems from nazi Germany" Just gonna point out that it's not a good look to say this, then have a post on your blog (among other things) that say "Turks deserve to be called donkeys." I dunno. I just see a bit of hypocrisy there. If you're not trolling and you legit think all this stuff, pleeease get offline and find a means to scrub it from your brain.

Wellness Wednesday:
All the Way May
May flew by and I had an absolute blast.
Been loving the warm weather, outdoor time, barbecuing, traveling, and... just everything in general - This month has been real good to me.
Things to note this month:
Had a massive yard renovation - love being outside now (well more than usual)
Guardians of the Galaxy - Great viewing experience
Got to visit family I haven't seen in a while
Got to partake in the Hot Ones Challenge - the whole experience was a hoot
....
...
..
and...
I hit my First Weight Loss Plateau.
Hitting that Weight Loss Plateau was at first... a bummer (especially after my last post where I stated "I Feel Unstoppable")... but... I was very aware it was coming down the pipe at some point / some time - I am actually amazed that I made it almost half a year with continual weight loss.
Also - I gained 1.4 pounds - nothing detrimental - and not to be gross, but that overage can essentially be cured with one bathroom break.... Oh boy... I just realized mid sentence that this is probably coming of weird like I might have bulimia... No, no, no... I am talking about taking a healthy dump.
Anywhosel...
I have no intentions of changing my current diet or workout plan unless to increase enjoyment.
Overall, May was just a real chill month - I've never been this relaxed. Hoping June and July follow suit - Looking for more good things to come.

HELLO AND HUGE TW WEIGHT
PLEASE🚫🔞
I know I’ve talked about this on here before, but I feel like I should keep sharing because it has helped me so much.
I have been trying to look a certain way since I was 13 or 14. Desperately trying to look like the th 1nsp0 pics I’ve seen on this site for years.
When my 18th birthday came and went last year, I realized I was heavier than ever before. I am 4’11 and I found myself weighing in at around 150. Maybe I didn’t realize how much weight I was gaining because I was in a comfortable long term relationship, and had also been in quarantine for a few months at that point.
After I realized how heavy I had gotten, I started tracking my daily calorie intake. Keeping it below 1,500 or so. After a month, I noticed I had lost 3-4 pounds. It was good to see progress, but it wasn’t enough.
Right about when I started trying to lose weight, summer came around. I began swimming at the pool/lake every day. Playing pool games with my boyfriend, and doing long, relaxing laps of breaststroke or front crawl. I wasn’t doing this to lose weight, I just love swimming, but the progress I saw and how quickly I saw it shocked me. I started to literally slough off the pounds. On June 1st I weighed in at 140. By October I was 126.
However, summer ended, and I couldn’t swim anymore. I started getting lazy about tracking my calories and gained 5-6 lbs back. I felt immense anger and insecurity about this, so I took it out on the exercise bike. I hate working out. I told myself to start going on the bike for 12 minutes a day. Not 10 minutes, that’s too little, and not 20 minutes, that’s too much. Each day after I bike, I do 20 curtsy squats, and 20 sit ups. I just go absolute beast mode for these ~15 minutes of my day. Sounds pretty doable, right?
I AM GETTING THE BODY I ALWAYS WANTED. I CAN SEE IT. I eat what I want, I keep it under 1,300 Cals a day now. Literally 15 minutes out of my day and I’m finally seeing the results I’ve wanted since I was 13.
Please, I know It’s not my right to tell you not to starve. I know I can’t change the way your disorder hurts you. But i can tell you that I have tried starving, and I’ve tried 30 minute workouts in desperation, but I can never keep it up for more than two days. It’s just too much! I end up binging huge amounts of candy/junk food at night, and never looking up workout videos again. This 15 minutes WORKS. Just 12 minutes on a bike, exercise bike or an actual bike, + 20 curtsy squats + 20 sit ups. The thing is, you really have to go all out for this to work. It has to be an uphill, sweaty 12 minutes. (ALWAYS stretch before/after as well, even if it’s just reaching up to the sky and then down to your toes, it will keep you healthier and you will look better too!) The best part is, you can eat!! I know your brain is yelling and screaming at you not to eat, and I know I can’t do anything about it. But if it helps, tell your brain that my crazy screaming brain says that this technique gives you the results you want, and allows you to eat enough throughout the day to stay healthy. The swimming helps too, but this biking routine is the real deal.
15 difficult, sweaty minutes a day is worth having everything I’ve ever wanted.

Are You Ready to Ignite Your Soy Candle Making Desire?
Soy candle making is a lot like making bath bombs. You can fully experiment with scents and colors, unleashing your creativity! Even choosing the containers for candles is a part of the fun.
And just like making bath bombs, you never know exactly how the color or scent will come out until you go through the steps of soy candle making. But, there are a few things you should consider before gathering your candle making supplies.
Why Make Natural Candles?
Basically, anytime we burn poor or cheaply made candles, chemicals can fill and linger in our home – long past blowing out the candle. Which in effect can cause the air in our homes to become fairly unhealthy.
All it all comes down to candle ingredients. You see, many store-bought candles are filled with chemicals such as carcinogens and phthalates (Farley, 2016). Never heard of phthalates? They are hormone-disrupting chemicals that are a health risk to babies, young children, men, and women (Powers, 2007). Phthalates can aggravate asthma and are linked to increased incidences of breast cancer (Stuart, 2016).
Luckily, we can leave these types of candles at the store and make our own with better candle ingredients! So, let’s get started by choosing your candle making supplies. We’ll cover it all from wax to wicks to fragrance and containers before we show how to make your first candles!
Natural Soy Candle Making Supplies:
I can attest that picking up supplies for candle making can be inconvenient. It can take what seems like half a day trying to find the supplies you want and need. So, I’m including a link where possible to order online as we talk about the soy candle making supplies you’ll need.
Candle Wax Types
Natural waxes like soy and beeswax are excellent sources for candles. In fact, you can make a half dozen soy wax candles at home in just an hours’ time all while leaving the yucky stuff out!
And what I really love about soy wax – it’s non-toxic, biodegradable, renewable, and cleans up if spilled with just warm water.
I buy my soy candle wax by the pound in flakes here. It’s really easy to measure out that way. You may also love working with a blend of the two like this natural coconut, soy, beeswax blend for candle making. Unsure of what candle wax you want to use? Start with a sample kit of candle wax types.
Paraffin wax is the most commonly used wax in candles. Unfortunately, it is a byproduct of the petroleum industry. As such paraffin wax releases toxic carcinogens including acrolein, acetaldehyde, and formaldehyde according to the EPA ( Knight & Levin, 2001). Therefore, I don’t recommend it.
Candle Wicks
Have you ever noticed a small wire in the center of cotton candlewick after lighting it?
Well, that wire happens to be a lead core and when burned it emits lead into the air. Yep, that’s pretty crappy, right?
But, did you know is it illegal to manufacture candles in the United States with lead-cored wicks? While that is great news, candles made overseas and sold in the U.S. can still contain lead.
With that in mind, wood wicks make a great alternative to cotton wicks. They are non-toxic, eco-friendly, and can be readily made from organic renewable resources. You’ll also need little metal clips to hold the wood wicks in a place like the ones in the photo above.
And as a bonus wood wicks add to the ambiance of a beautiful flickering flame with a soft crackling sound. It is reminiscent of a cozy night spent by the fireside. What’s not to love?
Another option is natural cotton wicks. And pre-waxed cotton wicks are the easiest to use. Just make sure you buy healthy ones like these, made without paraffin wax or other additives.
However, the downside to using cotton wicks is centering the wick. It is really tricky to center a wick. I’ve tried lots of ideas like tying wicks to pencils and bamboo skewers. But, what works best is a centering device.
You really need the wick to be held in the center during the pouring and setting process. I got my first centering devices with this candle making kit. They have handy options to set wicks for multiple widths and they can withstand the heat of the wax.
How Do You Fragrance Non-Toxic Candles?
It’s easy to create your favorite candle scents with essential oils, natural extracts, or aromatic isolates. Let’s start with the essential oils. How much essential oil do you use to make candles?
I recommend adding half an ounce to one ounce of essential oils per one pound of wax. If you are combining a few different essential oils like lemon and rosemary make sure to split up the amount.
Another option for soy candle making is all-natural fragrance oils composed of aromatic isolates from nature and essential oils. Did you know like essential oils, this type of fragrance oil has zero additives?
Yep, compared to typical fragrance oils, they do not contain parabens and phthalates. They can be a more affordable candle making supply than essential oils. Yet, still helpful for creating a candle without synthetic ingredients. You can even start with a sample candle making kit to find your favorite candle fragrances!
What else do you need to make candles?
Candle Containers
You truly can use a variety of options for candle containers. Take stock of your pantry for containers like mason jars. Or visit your local antique shop for teacups and other unique containers. I personally love these 4-ounce amber glass jars with lids and metal candle tins.
Sometimes I find colorful ramekins in the thrifty Spot section at Target. And when I’m feeling very creative I make lemon bowl candles as seen in the top left corner of the photo above.
Candle Pouring Pitcher
– A Must Have!
This one always seems to throw people off. What is a candle pouring pitcher? It’s a big pitcher to safely melt wax in and pour it out. Can you melt wax in a pot on the stove? Sure, but that’s pretty messy and it’s really difficult to pour the wax evenly.
A candle pouring pitcher has a spout and a handle that stays cool. Which makes pouring candles a breeze. This is the candle pouring pitcher I use, it holds up to four pounds of wax. See it in the bottom right corner of the photo above.
Soy Candle Making Tips:
I’ll be honest the first time I made candles was stressful. Worrying about burning the wax, getting the wicks in the center of each container, and adding the scents at the right temperature – is a lot to handle!
But, you know what? They turned out great! And I was hooked from the start on soy candle making.
So, here’s a few tips to help your soy candle making be less stressful from the get-go. And once you get the hang of it, you’ll be hooked on making candles too!
What temperature do you pour soy wax?
When making candles the temperature of the wax is one of the most important steps to achieve professional candle results. Therefore you will need a thermometer to measure the temperature often. I recently switched to a new no-touch infrared thermometer. It’s very fast, always accurate, and doesn’t require any clean-up since I don’t have to place it in the wax.
Another option is one with a clip like this, it will clip inside your candle making pitcher, keeping your hands free. If you don’t have one you could use a candy thermometer, but you may not want to make candy with it after.
Overall soy wax should be poured anywhere between 120 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep in mind, soy wax can be quite sensitive to temperature as it is a softer wax than the typical paraffin. Do not heat it above 200 degrees Fahrenheit to avoid burning and discoloration. I prefer to heat to 185 degrees Fahrenheit.
What’s the best temperature to add essential oils to soy wax?
Fragrance oils for candle making come with flashpoints listed on the labels. Essential oils do not! Which can make it difficult for figuring out what temperature to add essential oils to soy wax.
In my experience, if you add essential oils at a temperature above 125 degrees Fahrenheit the scent does not blend well. I see the best results by adding essential oils at 120 degrees Fahrenheit with a two-minute stir.
How much wax do you need for a candle?
The answer to that requires a bit of math. So get your calculator, just kidding. We’ve got this!
We’ve made candle making easy with a candle wax calculator. No matter what candle vessel you choose our candle wax calculator can tell you exactly how much candle wax you’ll need! It even takes the amount of fragrance or candle dye being added to the wax. This means you can count on a good melt pool and no wasted materials!
Just remember, when measuring soy wax flakes use a digital kitchen scale to get an exact measurement. Otherwise, you’ll be left with too much wax or not enough to fill your containers.
How to Make Candles for Beginners
Now that we covered the most asked questions about candle making and where to find candle making supplies, it’s time to make your first candles!!
To keep things as simple as possible, we’re going to start with a basic candle recipe. It’s one I’ve used time and time again with great success! This beginner candle recipe will make 4 average-sized candles.
Here’s what you’ll need:
4 amber glass 4 oz jars
1 lb soy wax flakes
4 medium wood wicks and clips
4 glue dots or wick tab stickers
candle making pitcher
kitchen scale
infrared thermometer
1.5-ounces natural fragrance oil or more essential oils (see tips above)
Instructions to make candles:
1. Insert a wood wick into metal clips. For a louder crackling sound, double up the wood wicks. The add a glue dot to the base of the metal clip. Place it in the center base of one glass jar. Repeat for all four until you have 4 jars with wicks inserted and set aside.
2. Next, fill a large saucepan with about 2 inches of water and place it on the stove to heat. Measure 1 pound of soy wax flakes with a digital kitchen scale.
3. Pour measured wax into a candle pitcher and set it inside the large saucepan. Whisk often and heat on low heat, up to a simmer at most, until melted using the double boiler method. Heat up to 185 degrees Fahrenheit and check often with a no-touch infrared thermometer.
4. Remove from heat immediately to avoid wax from becoming too hot. Insert a candle thermometer and allow the wax to cool to 120°F to 125°F before adding essential oils or just below the flashpoint of a natural fragrance oil.
5. Once the wax has cooled to the correct temperature add fragrance and whisk for 2 minutes to thoroughly combine. Carefully pour the scented soy wax into prepared jars. Let cool 1 hour or more until the wax is hard and white before cutting wicks to an inch or so.
Wait for 3 days before burning candles for the best scent throw. Candle Science even recommends 1-2 weeks of preferred curing time, for natural waxes such as soy and coconut. Although, they agree 3 days is the minimum curing time for candles.

Say 'Bye to Neon
A classic article about nitrous, tuning, and general rental car tomfoolery.
Mopar Action, April '98, pp 21-23
Story by: Richard Ehrenberg
Ever want to nitrous your ride, but were afraid you'd grenade your mega-dollar motor into smithereens, or trash your daily driver? Well, fear no more. For the measly sum of $19.95, we can absolutely guarantee that you won't blow YOUR motor. How? Heh heh heh. Just rent a car from your local, smiling Thrifty agent (we highly recommend the sunny Phoenix locations.) His motor + your nitrous system = no problem. Experience the thrill of nitrous, totally uninhibited. No longer will you feel the urge to back off because you're afraid of scattering YOUR dollars along the side of the road or at the strip. It's like hot fudge sundaes without the guilt. Mopar Action's staff, the same people who brought you the Rental Car Nats and the famous "push-o-war" (nose-to-nose burnouts), are out on a brief furlough from Nurse Ratchet's psycho ward, and will outdo themselves again by showing you how to knock over 3 seconds off a bone stock Neon. Yeah, you got it! 16.90 @ 81MPH to a zero-traction 13.82 @ 102. Have we got chrome-moly spheres, or what?
We slammed together a supersimple N2O system for our bone stock 3-speed automatic rent-a-Neon (with 13-inch wheels!!) The setup consisted of readily available parts from the NOS nitrous catalog and the local NAPA parts store. Our goal was to make no engine mods and unbolt nothing from the car during installation. In other words, we wanted to be smarter than O.J., and leave no incriminating evidence behind (is America a great country, or what?)
The system consisted of an N20 tank held in the back seat by the lap and shoulder belt, a length of braided hose laying on the carpet, and routed through the unused clutch-cable firewall hole, the cheapest electric fuel pump we could find, nitrous and fuel solenoids and two simple injectors. The injectors consisted of nothing more than two short lengths of 3/16" brake line tubing with the solenoids attached at one end and 2 NOS-modified "AN" fittings that accept NOS nitrous and fuel-metering jets on the other end. A painless incision into the soft plastic air box hose allowed N2O and fuel to be injected directly above the throttle body. The whole deal was held in place by duct tape and cable ties. Replaceable jets allowed precision tuning of the system to any level of insanity desired. Auxiliary fuel (alcohol "drygas") was stored in the windshield washer reservoir and the small electric pump was added to supply fuel (the windshield wiper fluid pump will not supply enough fuel) to a solenoid. This setup was rigged into the horn wiring to open the solenoids when you punch the horn button (we did disconnect the horn button).
So how did it work? Awesome. Simply awesome. We started out with a 50HP nitrous jet with 100% excess fuel. Hitting the horn at 4000RPM in 2nd gear felt like 15 lbs of boost. Were we happy? Nope! Onward to the 75HP jet and only 50% excess fuel. The Neon was amazing. We worked up the guts for 1800 RPM launches in first gear. Oops out of nitrous, before you can say: "Thrifty." Luckily, we had brought a second bottle.
The entire Mopar Action staff flogged the Neon mercilessly, but we couldn't break it (yet). The high (low?) point came when "Crazy" Eddie Yeznaian, intrepid rally racer and wildebeest extraordinaire, actually power-braked the car to the floor, cut the wheel to the left, and hit the nitrous in reverse. Nothin' like nitrous doughnuts after a hard day at the office! (Since this was done in the rain, does that make it Dunkin' Donuts?) If you can imagine what it must be like to be trapped in a spinning top at 200 RPM, you get the idea. Where are the air-sickness bags for this ride? H-E-L-L-L-P!
After the second full 10 pound bottle of nitrous had been greedily half-guzzled by the motor, we decided to go for broke before it was empty. We slipped in the killer 150HP jets. Is this sick, or what? We more than doubled the stock HP output! Jeeez! 13.82 @ 102mph. The motor took first gear launches at 2000RPM with cylinder pressures that should have shot the plugs through the hood, and exhaust gas temps that were slightly hotter than the surface of the sun.
Could the Neon go faster? And, mainly, would the converter stay in the transaxle, or launch like a Saturn rocket and slice our legs off at the knees? (And, do they rent hand-control Neons?) For our last runs of the day, we leaned out the fuel jet for only 5% excess fuel and stuck our guinea pig editor, Cliff "Pleeeeease don't blow the motor, guys!" Gromer behind the wheel. For his first duel, Cliff matched himself up with an automatic Mustang GT at the track. The pony car came out of the shoot even with the Neon, and pulled ahead by the 300-ft mark. The Neon, now in second, gets juiced by Gromer. Result? Like taking candy from a baby. Cliff's little rent-a-PL was so far out on the 'Stang that he was able to back off in third, turning a 14.15 at 96.7.
Later, in an impromptu street run from a 10mph roll-on, Cliff, the sick puppy that he is, hit the horn button in first gear, right on the "3" count, the 2-liter Twinkie motor screamed for mercy, the tires spun all the way through first gear. We were fender to fender with a fast 440-6 Challenger R/T. He ripped his piston-grip to second, but we pulled ahead. Clifford boiled the tires big-time into second gear, allowing the R/T to pull alongside. The Neon mini-motor wound tight-right to the rev limiter. Did Cliff lift? Did he back off? No chance! Ka-boom! A glowing three-foot fireball barked out of each side of the hood, and rolled back over the windshield. Cheeez! This actually caused the R/T driver to lift, but not Cliff! Wow. Say goodbye to Neon.
We pulled over, fully expecting to see rods hanging out of the block. Surprise. Only the airbox is blown apart. With the leaned out fuel system and the motor running so far into the rev limiter that the stock injectors were shut completely off, we musta floated the valves and backfired through the intake system. The motor was running a little rough (a slight understatement) and we're sure we bent at least one valve, or, more likely, blew the head off of a couple. Guess we should have followed Mark's rules (see sidebar). Needless to say it was the best $19.95 we ever spent. We gassed the Neon back up and limped back to the ever-smiling counterperson.
Thanks, Thrifty.
By the way, if you're interested in renting a Neon for $19.95 a day to go mustang hunting, Performance Resource is currently looking into marketing a complete nitrous kit (minus the bottle) that is jetted and flowed, and that you can bolt onto your rental Neon (or your own Neon for that matter) in less than an hour. Just so there's no misunderstanding, the kits are not available at this time, but they can be whipped together if there's sufficient interest out there in Neonland.
When vacationing becomes safe about a year or two from now, this might be a good reason to add an extra day to the rental.

From the land
Today I am leaving the ocean and heading to the land. The Big Island is even more biodiverse than Maui. It contains 11 of the 14 climate zones in the world. They even have snow on their tallest peak, Mauna Kea. Today I am heading south og Kona to explore a Chocolate Farm, a coffee farm and a bee apiary!
Chocolate Farm
The Original Hawaiian Chocolate factory is the only chocolate producer in an industrialized country that processes the chocolate from the plant all the way to the final product. Most chocolate producers start with the dried cocoa bean. The beautiful estate grows cacao (the pod that chocolate is made from), macadamia nuts and coffee. The entire operation is run by only eight staff, including the owner (Bob) and his wife. (American Ex-pats)
Above are the tree that the cacao pods grow on. They are about the size of a large eggplant when fully ripe. Iniside these pods there is a fibrous membrane (like in a squash) that contains seeds. These seeds have to be fermented and dried to give them the chocolate flavor. This produces chocolate nibs which are ground to make cocoa powder, which becomes chocolate. (More or less, you can google it if you want to fact check me on this one.)
Cacao pods growing in the trees. This variety will will turn a bright yellow when they are ripe.
Ripe cacao pods. They grow in a variety of colors. For example green pods turn yellow when ripe, maroon pods turn candy apple red when ripe. Other colors include purple, orange and rainbow!
These are the seeds (or cocoa beans) inside of the pod. They are covered with a bitter coating that will help ferment the seeds.
After they have fermented, they are cleaned off and left outside to dry on these racks.
Cocoa beans on the drying rack. These will be ground to make the cocoa powder used to make chocolate! This chocolate farm only makes milk and dark chocolate.
Fun fact: White chocolate is not actually made from the solid bean, it is made from cocoa butter, which is extracted from the bean. Since there are no cocoa butter extractors on the island, they are limited to milk and dark chocolate only.
It was really interesting to see this done as a small operation, given the extremely unjust conditions that many cacao growers face in developing countries. At least one aspect of eating chocolate was guilt-free today! m On to cofee next!
Coffee Farm
There is a oot of coffee grown in Hawaii so I had lots of options for a coffee tour. No one will be surprised to hear that I chose the Kona Historic Socity’s Living History coffee farm!! YEA! The nerdiest of an already nerd activity!
So...the Kona Historical Society has preserved one of the early coffee farms on the island that was run by a Japanese family. It was purchased by the Ushida family in 1913. The Ushida’s had immigrated from Japans and decided to take up farming. However, they had no experience farming coffee when they bought the coffee farm in 1913. The spent the next few years learning from local farmers how to grow it. This was the beginning of what we know know as the Kona coffee industry, which was led mostly by Japanese immigrants. The Ushida’s were one of the first Japanese families to do it and encouraged and inspired many other to take up the trade throughout the 20th century.
Fun fact: In the 1940s 50% of people living in Hawaii were Japanese.
The Ushida’s tore down the small farmhouse that was on the property when they purchased it and built a traditional Japanese home. The Ushida’s had 5 children, who all shared a three room house (a iving area, bedroom and kitchen).
The Ushida farmhouse, built circa 1917.
To be totally honest, I had absolutely no idea how coffee grew. I knew it came from beans, but that was about it. Well...it grows on trees. Coffee trees can live and produce coffee for hundreds of years, in fact. Coffee beans actually form inside of these cmall round berries. (They sort of look like cranberries.) They are green when unripe and turn a bright red color when ripe. Inside each berry is a small amount of flesh (similar to grapes) and in the center is a coffee bean. In order to make coffee, the berries have to be picked, the skin and flesh need to be removed, the beans need to be dried and then they can be roasted. Coffee beans are harvested 4 months out the year from September - December.
Coffe tree. The base of this tree is over 100 years old. The branches are trimmed every few years, but the base and root systems can remain for hundreds of years.
Coffee berries. These are small because the are yound. They are about cranberry sized. The will grow to be closer to grape size when it is time to harvest next September.
The Ushida’s also grew other plants for subsistence farming and to sell at local markets. Although the weather in Hawaii is perfect for growing almost anything, it can sometime be difficult to farm because of the lava rock that covers most of the land. Plants that do very well in Hawaii have extremely strong root systems that can actually break through the rock or grow within cracks a crevasses in the rock. (Like coffee, cacao and pineapple).
It’s a baby pineapple! It’s one of the only plants, where if you plant any part of the pineapple it is capable of growing a new one.
This may look like a cucumber, but it is actually a plant that grows bath loofahs. Yep, for real.
See!?! I didn’t make this up.
During the 4 month harvesting season, the Ushida men would wake up at 2:30 to start harvesting and finish after sunset. The women would wake up at 4:30am. The entire family, including small chilren, would harvest the beans. The most difficult part of the process was removing the skin and flesh from the beans. It is only since WWII that most farmers had a mechanized process to do it. For centuries it was done by stomping on them with your feet. Like grapes.
Once the beans are removed from the berries, they need to be dried, which can take up to 10 days. The Ushida’s would leave them out in the sun to dry and bring them into the shed when it rained and at night. At any given time there would be over 1000 pounds of beans drying. (On average, an adult could pick 150 lbs. a day). In the 1940 the Ushida’s developed a brillant idea to create a drying platform on the top of the barn/shed that had a sliding roof, so that they could cover the beans at night or during rain and not have to carry the beans in. Genius. This is the original roof and the sliding mechanism still works perfectly!
Kona coffee is still an institution in Hawaii. Descendants of the Ushida family lived in the original house until 1994. (They never modernized the house, it still had a wood burning stove and outhouse/outdoor bath house) The historical society bought it and preserved it. It is still a working farm today.
Lunch
L&L Barbeque is Hawaiian fast food institution. I stopped here for lunch and was not disappointed. Many of the things on the menu reflect the Asian and Japanese heritage of the island. I ordered the chicken lovers platter, BBQ chicken, Chicken katsu and...something else delicious.
Chicken Lovers Plate
Bees
My last stop for the day was Big Island Bees. A bee apiary.
Big Island Bees, Kona
I have always been obsessed with bees (and colony animals in general, like ants) so I was SO EXCITED about this. I have probably told many of you this, but the U of M refused to let me volunteer at their bee lab and I am still really bitter about it.
Kim, the master Bee keeper, gave us free samples and showed us the hives. They have several sites across the island that produce different kinds of honey. There are two ways to get flavored honey. One is to infuse a flavor into already created honey, like pepper or cinnamon. The other is to place the hives in a area where they have access to only one or prodominantly one kind of flower. Their bees make three kinds of honey. One from Macadamia Nut trees, one from the Wilelaiki blossom on theChristmasberry tree (introduced in Hawaii from Brazil) and the rareist type, the Lahua blossom honey, which comes from the Ohi’a trees. Ohi’a trees are found only on Hawaii and grow out of lava rock. The honey is naturally white. (Apparently you can buy Big Island Honey at costco!)
So I learned a lot of cool stuff about bees. I could write for hours about it, but I’m just going to give you my favorite fun facts. If you want to know more, let’s hang out!
Fun fact 1: Queens can live for 1-5 years, where as the rest of the bees in the hive only live 4-8 weeks.
Fun fact2: All of the worker bees in the hive are female. The only male bees in the hive are called Drones. Their only job is to mate with the Queen, so when the food is scarce or the hive is in trouble, the female workers bees evict the Drones by biting off their wings, pushing them out of the hive and leaving them on the ground to die. Sorry fellas, they don’t have time for freeloaders! I love bees!
Fun fact 3:The worker bees go through four different jobs in their short lives 1) Take care and feed of the baby bees, which hatch in the cells in the hive, feed and take care of the queen, protect the hive, and forage for pollen.
Fun fact 4: Bees are super ruthless, if the queen is not doing so hot, the hive releases special pharamones (sp?) so that the queen will give birth to her own replacement and then they will kill the queen once she’s born. Total mutiny.
Not so fun fact 5: Bees are in trouble because of a small hive mite that has starting taking over the hives, laying eggs in the cells and eventually forcing the bees out of the hive. Hives have to be checked and treated regularly to keep from being infested by these small invasive beetles from Asia. Boo!
Beekeeper Lisa
One hive. It contains both the cells for honey and for making baby bees. This hive has no drones, because it is a slow honey producer, so they opted to kill all of the drones until they have more honey.
The queen is in here somewhere..
Lastly, bees can make art. Their so cool and talented. I am ecited because my goal for this spring and summer is to plant a pollinator friendly yard. I applied for a grant to do, I will know shortly if I got it. My eventual goal would be to have a hive in my yard, but it is really hard to overwinter bees in Minnesota, so I might have to work up to this. Future goals...
Honeycomb sculpture (Real honeycomb that the bees constructed over a metal frame)
That’s it for the day. Tomorrow: Travel along the southern coast of the island to visit the Place of Refuge National Historic Park and one of only 4 green sand beaches in the world.

The Good Way to Take Care of a Rescue Horse
Right, this minute horses are being neglected and abused somewhere. Slaughter is additionally an opportunity. Most of those neglected horses find yourself at auctions. All states have them; you almost certainly have horse auctions on the brink of where you reside. In some places, the auctions happen once every week, monthly, or maybe daily.
These auctions are an honest place to seek out horses that require rescue. Please consider getting to auctions if you’re within the marketplace for a horse. Horses don’t necessarily get to be registered with an ideal pedigree and lineage to form an honest pet!
You may be saving the horse from ending up during a slaughterhouse and, consequently, on somebody’s table in Belgium for dinner.
There are more and more equine rescues within us, but most have limited funds and resources for purchasing and taking care of rescue horses. due to this many are unable to rescue all the horses that require help.
You can help by attending an auction and taking a horse (or several, if you’ve got the space and resources) home with you!
How Rescue Horses Are Different
Rescue horses often don’t function equivalently as horses who are taken care of properly. they’ll have gone without proper diet and health look after an extended time, which may affect their metabolic and digestive systems.
Coat and Hoofs
Also, they’ll have diseases or be infested with parasites. most frequently, they need not had any proper hoof care, and are subject to founder and other hoof problems. nearly always, their teeth need floating or other attention, especially within the case of senior horses.
They may have skin conditions that require tending to. Fungal infections are quite common. they have the prompt assessment of a competent veterinarian, and special care to ease them back to health without shocking their systems.
Feeding a Rescue Horse
The first thing you’ll think you ought to do is “feed the horse up.” Wrong! that’s the worst thing you’ll do! the foremost essential thing to stay in mind is that any adjustments should be made gradually and in tiny increments.
If you’re keeping the horse during a stall or dry lot, keep fresh clean grass hay (grass, not alfalfa), and water ahead of them in the least times. These two diet staples they will have unlimited access to.
But on graining, only feed the horse one very small few an entire pelleted food 3-5 times per day. If you give them more, you’ll colic the horse. A 10-11% protein mix is adequate.
After a few weeks approximately, if the horse shows no sign of distress, increase the quantity of grain to 1/2 lb. 3 times daily, until you reach the quantity specified by your vet as a traditional daily intake for the actual horse.
If the horse continues to tolerate the diet change, you ought to be ready to increase the daily total ration by one pound every ten days. If your rescued horse may be senior, it should receive senior pellets rather than regular feed, as regular feed is just too hard on their digestive systems.
It takes horses an extended time to get over being undernourished. do not be discouraged. it’s going to take up to a year for the horse to realize healthiness. Usually, though, you’ll be ready to see a marked difference for the higher after every week or two. then, progress is slow. Remember, it took the horse an extended time to urge that way!
Health and Quarantine
A newly rescued horse should be quarantined. If they’re harboring diseases or parasites, you will not want them infecting the other horses you’ll have. Generally, quarantine should last for a minimum of 2 weeks.
Strangles (Streptococcus Equi) requires 10 days of incubation before the horse begins to point out signs of infection. Also, the rescued horse should be kept aside from other horses during its recuperation to scale back stress thanks to fighting for food, herd dominance, etc.
The horse should have a Coggins test done and you ought to wait and confirm the results are negative. it’s going to take a couple of days to urge the results back. At the auctions, there’s alleged to be a veterinarian there who certifies that the horses are Coggins Negative. you ought to ask to ascertain a negative Coggins on the horse before taking it home with you. Being on the safe side is usually best.
Keep the horse as clean, dry, and cozy as possible. And confirm the primary thing you are doing is call your vet bent to check out the horse to work out what health concerns the horse may have. The vet’s advice is that the main advice you ought to defer to and follow!
Hooves and Parasites
The other important thing you would like to try to do is to call your farrier directly and obtain him to seem at your rescued horse’s hooves. Especially if the hooves are overgrown or look foundered. Hoof care is extremely important during a horse’s life!
The photo above is an example of what shape a rescued horse’s hooves could be in. this is often candy, a pony I rescued from an area auction. once they brought her out into the sale ring, everyone laughed at her and called her “Snowshoes” she had to return home with me!
Her hooves were much worse than what they appear like during this photo. About 6 inches more of the hooves were buried in soft dirt that you simply can’t see here.
It took a few years and monthly farrier visits to urge her hooves halfway normal. Her bones had grown into an abnormal position, and she or he was foundered, which was very painful and made it difficult for her to steer.
There are different opinions about parasite removal in rescue horses. As a general rule of thumb, the rescue horse should be fed pyrantel tartrate (daily wormer) for two – 4 weeks, then at 4 weeks, should tend ivermectin consistent with the horse’s weight, then 6 – 8 weeks later, wormed with fenbendazole, then continue with a daily worming rotation program.
It is not an honest idea to offer Quest/moxidectin while feeding horses the pyrantel tartrate daily wormer medicine. Consult your veterinarian about your horse’s worming needs.
Social Issues and My Experience
Rescue horses produce other issues, too. Either they need abusing, or they need to be stuck during a pasture or a dry lot somewhere and nobody paid any attention to them in the least. you’ll find that your rescue horse could also be healthy, may bite or kick, or may produce other bad habits that you simply will need to work on.
The horse might not be wont to being near people. Remember here, again, that it took the horse an extended time to urge this manner, and it’ll take time and patience to urge the horse to trust you and learn to try to do what you would like him to try to to. Horses require attention and care a day, day after day. twiddling my thumbs with the horse, and you’ll be rewarded.
The photo at the start of the article is of Shonac about a fortnight after I brought him home from an area of horse auction. He has muddy legs from wading within the pond. He probably doesn’t look excellent to you, but to me, he looked wonderful considering what he seemed like once I found him.
His hipbones stuck out a minimum of a foot on either side, head all gouged and bleeding, rain rot everywhere his head and in his eyes. that is what the pink area around his eyes is. He was a multitude. during this picture, he had filled out considerably and was up to 1/2 lb of senior pellets 3 times each day, plus all the grass and water he could eat.
He couldn’t get enough of grazing! He had been kept during a dry lot with no food or water! The vet said he was about 20 yrs. old. He was so malnourished he could barely get up or walk once I first brought him home.
Shona was an Appaloosa who did the “Indian Shuffle.” Underneath the white, his skin had black spots everywhere sort of a Dalmation. Everyone said, “he is so ugly!”, Shona is an Indian name that suggests something like “he who survives great hardship but achieves great fortune at the top.” I assumed it fit him perfectly.
Shona lived for two 1/2 yrs. after being rescued. His last days were spent on a 21-acre farm, eating good Kentucky grass within the company of 14 other horses. Shona was the start of rescue on behalf of me. Sadly, he has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I miss my friend.

Meal of the Day: Lordaeron Surprise!
So this one is a little later than I wanted it to be. Why? Because yesterday was Hallow’s End. Oh my Light, I’ve never experienced a Hallow’s End before — well. I mean. I kinda had? But it was mostly running in fear from the people acting weird and suddenly there’s a fucking Horseman??
I could go on and on about Hallow’s End — and maybe I will! But for now, my apologies for the lateness. Apparently they weren’t joking when they said if you ate too much candy you’d get sick.
But what I actually wanted to talk about was this. I call it Lordaeron Surprise.
A little background I guess… At the Keg, one of my first real friends there was Vali, a totally normal human woman from the Northern region of the Eastern Kingdoms. There is absolutely nothing strange about her and she is just a totally normal Human woman with a totally normal pulse and respiratory system and all her skin.
She was also my first victim with Ice Soup. I still maintain that Ice Soup is delicious, nutritious and refreshing, but she has gone over the bar at me more than once with less than friendly intentions. I’ve been informed that is an ancient way of displaying displeasure. Duly noted.
So, being a totally normal Human, there were some certain things that she really enjoyed consuming. With certain meats that were uh… I was never really informed what they originally were, but I did find out that when the bounties are for heads, they don’t really keep the heads. Therefore certain… ingredients… were easier to find than you would think.
As long as you had a strong stomach.
But after tinkering with the recipe and bringing home some good ol’ Lordaeranian pumpkins, people started asking me to make it for them. Since…. they aren’t ya know… Uh. From the region… I had to improvise.
That is how the modern version of Lordaeron Special came to be.
Full disclosure: I have recently been asked to make a more friendly step by step version with visuals. And I had made this originally back before… ya know… Before Tirisfal got extra blighty. So some of these pictures had to be improvised after the fact… Sorry.
First, assemble your ingredients. For two small pumpkins you can use one pound of meat, one pound of Tirisfal mushrooms, half an onion about two cups of mixed veggies, and mashed potatoes.
As always, don’t be afraid to mix it up. This is one that’s really hard to screw up. I screwed it up but no one even noticed! Trust me, it’s okay to screw up, it’s how you learn.
There’s a little bit of prep for the pumpkins, so let’s do those first. Get your oven on medium-high heat (400F) and wash your pumpkins. Get all that residual blight and bat crap off of the rinds.
Next, we want to get the tops off and gut them…
This took a bit of effort to start, but once you’re in the tops come off pretty easily. Then you scoop out all the pulpy bits. This smells amazing. Save the seeds, you can bake them for an easy, tasty snack.
Now- Fry up your meat. I use mutton or beef, cuz… ya know… Stormwind and cows are everywhere, but you could use anything. Once the meat was about halfway browned, I threw in the sliced mushrooms, half of a diced onion, and some spices. Garlic, onion and thyme was what I used. Once the meat is browned and the onions are well sweated, drain the juice off (I give mine to Oshu) and divide the meat between the pumpkins.
Next, sweat the vegetables and get them warmed up. Here’s my secret for this part — I like to use a little bit of beef broth and some flour and make a gravy with the veggies. I used about one pack of mage-frozen mixed veggies for two pumpkins.
Layer this in also. The last step before cooking is to add the mashed potatoes. I… actually am not super good at mashed potatoes, but Colin always has them prepped by the time I come in anyhow, so I just get some from the Potato Vat. You can either cut some up, boil them soft and mash them yourself — or use any shortcuts available to your disposal. I hear that there’s a Goblin product kinda like Mook’n’Cheez that makes instant foods. Not sure though.
You can either glop the potatoes on top for a rustic look, or do what I did and get all fancy and shit. I put them into a piping bag we use for desserts and covered the top.
Put the pumpkins in the oven and bake until the outside turns a bit darker and is soft. This step is kinda optional, but let me tell you, the freshness of the pumpkin being baked into the meat is just phenomenal. Plus then you can eat almost the whole thing!
The top gets a gorgeous crust that is to die for.
As they say in Tirisfal — Bone Apple Teeth!!
Ingredients:
1 lb meat (I used beef)
1/2 medium onion, diced
Mushrooms (optional, I just fucking love mushrooms)
~2 cups (or one pack frozen) mixed veggies
Enough mashed potatos to cover the top (about 3 cups?)
Spices (I used garlic, thyme, salt and pepper)
Optional – Beef broth and about 1 Tbs flour for discount gravy
Instructions:
Prepare your oven! Set it to about 400F
Prepare your pumpkins! Wash the outside, cut the top off and gut it. This part smells so damn good
Make sure you have mashed potatos of some shape or form. Access the Potato Vat
Brown your meats halfway
Once halfway browned, add in the mushrooms and onions
When meat is browned and onions are translucent, divide into the pumkpins
Add veggies to the pan, along with about 1/4 cup broth and the flour
Cook the veggies until warmed through but not overcooked. The gravy should be thickened by this point. You want them to still have a little cronch.
Divide the veggies between both pumpkins
Splorp potato onto the pumpkins until both are evenly covered. I am a man of class and science.
Bake until the tops have a nice crust and the outer rind is soft
Enjoy!

Carb Eating Out Manual.
Herbalife has actually been in business for over Three Decade and also they're annual events attract an extensive 35,000 private Herbalife Distributors. The food items business continues to contribute in trying to determine health and nutrition tips, coming from Coca-Cola financing study understating the link between sweet beverages as well as being overweight and also candy business moneying research studies showing that kids who eat goodie evaluate lower than those which perform not. Though I felt those traits, as well as though my coach should not have straightened my effectiveness along with my weight, I know that my body weight does certainly not calculate my personal truly worth. If you are actually a diet heir, though, you could still endure some recurring anxiousness around holiday eating. Fortunately this set actually shows a great deal of assurance and can hasten weight loss fairly substantially. After 7 days I located myself not even curious about meals typically, which was actually a full discovery for someone as keen on that as me. Hello there Anna, You may drink lemon water but the diet plan should simply be actually down for a quick time period. Any time if you are actually three pounds or even more above your aim at body weight you should begin Stage 1 immediately. So http://therapie-blognaturelle.info believe that even more should be much better": if you cut a lot more carbs, you'll drop more body weight. But at that point why performs this diet plan permit the individual start eating bread on a daily basis and rice and pasta twice a week plus two Porky Porker dishes consisting of pudding and wine (that's the French twist). have a peek at this web-site reckon after 2 months from dieting, the low-carbers started floating back to their standard diet which likely corresponded to the high-carb diet. Lack of nutrition: Due to the fact that many fast weight loss diet regimens remove food teams as well as are drastically low in fats, they can easily leave you malnourished, which could bring about other health problems. Yet like a true eye of the hurricane, that continued to removal, bringing the storm along with it. My mom died, I struggled with anxiety and making ends satisfy was actually constantly a difficulty. Sunny, in lots of locations on the planet, nutrionists as well as medical professionals routinely recommend 600 calorie diets to people in the healthy weight selection even, as well as 800 calories for a lady and 1,000 for a man is thought about risk-free enough that they can recommend this in a publication to the overall population. You will experience foods you shouldn't be consuming every now and then, as well as be dealt with a choice: succumb to the yearning or even stay with your well-balanced way of life plan. Then l found regarding Keto as well as our company transitioned to that, still no weight management, or even other modifications for that issue. DOCTOR B reminds our company that insulin is the principal fat-building hormonal agent, which is one explanation diabetics gain weight when they begin blood insulin, and why kind 2 diabetics with insulin resistance (and also higher blood stream insulin levels) are over weight as well as possess difficulty slimming down. Yet along with 30 even more extra pounds to go, my weight management stalled as well as no diet regimen or even exercise operated anymore. This phase includes their Metabolic Health and nutrition Device, Meal Substitute Shake, as well as Advocare Fire. A lot of a trial run later, I'm soooooooo glad to EVENTUALLY introduce the fully overhauled PIIT28 Vegan meal plan, The 28 Day Reset - Vegetation Based Electrical power! Guide deals with nourishment fundamentals, daily functional request from Atkins consuming, dishes as well as detailed meal plannings, and the science behind the system. I'm with you Abbie - alot people do have to lose weight in a well-balanced way, and also our experts require the incentive in order to get there. These diets are well-known due to the fact that pleasure principle is actually engrained in our hectic present day lifestyle, however, they carry out include their share of threats and also could actually trigger even more harm than excellent if the dieter isn't mindful. Ages were in between 25 and 65. Common body weight was actually 101 kg (222 lb), typical BMI 35.8, typical age 49. All were actually Caucasian. Deliberate fat burning attempts (whether called weight loss or way of life changes") have a dismal effectiveness cost - very most research studies show that merely the smallest portion (around 5%) of folks take care of to keep substantial fat burning longer in comparison to 3-5 years, as well as many individuals reclaim even more weight in comparison to they shed in the first place. I transitioned to a lchf (and also high healthy protein) diet plan under the assistance from a physician (our team were actually attempting to get another clinical issue under control). The plan performs certainly not demand tallying fats, carbohydrates or fat, which is actually a plus for those wishing an extra hands-off diet technique. This counteracts the point from the Paleo way of living, which encourages that all food items options are cooked in their all-natural condition. Thus meals is actually very cheap, that's certainly never been actually as low-priced; whatever we gain, what our experts spend on food, that economicals and also that is actually freely available. At regarding half-weight aspect during his weightloss (measuring regarding 145kg) he will have needed about 13200 kJ daily to keep his weight. Nurturing, cooling as well as delighting along with curry flavors to assist digestion, this is a fantastic supper meal. Your loved one may create the exercise component of their fat loss adventure a lot more pleasurable by experiencing Zumba from the comfort of their very own living-room. I'm on the dropping trend right now (given that I ceased performing exactly what prospered for me in the past - lifestyle and also school altered my priorities) as well as have actually slimmed down in the past through doing the low-fat and also velocity strolling point. Due to all this brand new analysis about the task healthy and balanced fats play in our bodies, the 2015 Dietary Rules, which are the United States government's meals and also nutrition suggestions by means of 2020, really disregarded a standard ceiling on the amount of excess fat a person must consume each day. There is actually a variation between putting on weight in the fastest technique, and also raising in measurements in the healthiest way achievable. Swedish analysts disclosed just recently that a Paleolithic diet plan was a lot more satiating in comparison to a Mediterranean-style diet, when reviewed on a calorie-for-calorie basis in soul people. I really intend to join the dietbet however I am actually paniced that I will definitely not shed any kind of body weight since I actually merely wish to exercise to get muscle, develop toughness, endurance, and also versatility. He or she may assist lead you on the proper way, and yes, you can do it. 5 years ago I was actually 230lb as well as 5' 2 ″, as well as I dropped the weight without medicines or even surgical operation. Plus I simply detest needing to search for specifically what I wish online when I just could plug it in my calculator and create it down. So after I will have 15 mins to view on my own at my goal weight I will take that picture out as well as consider it as well as tell myself that I will definitely never be actually that person again.

5 so-called healthy foods that are making you fatter, sicker and weaker
Caution: if you don’t understand how your body processes food for energy, you could literally be your own worst enemy! Cut out the carbs, reduce the fat, eat whole grains, gluten is evil, drink more juice and find healthy snacks… all of this sounds good, doesn’t it? Well, I’m here to pull the wool back and show you why most if not all of these ideas actually harm the body and torpedo any weight loss effort you might be trying to make.
Brian Flatt here – personal trainer and weight loss expert. I’m the author of the 3 Week Diet, the 2 Week Diet and a brand new program called Eat Sleep Burn. A program that teaches you how to work with your body’s natural bio-chemistry and lose up to 10 pounds of unhealthy fat in a single week.
Sounds crazy, right?
7 to 10 pounds in 1 week sounds like you’re going to have to kill yourself at the gym, run until you pass out and drink water and eat wheat germ morning noon and night, doesn’t it?
Wrongo my friend!
Before I get into that, I want to explain about 5 foods that we’re all led to believe are healthy alternatives. Foods that in the harsh light of actual science, do more harm than good, especially if you’re trying to drop some LB’s.
Only 5 you ask? Oh, let me tell you there are way more than that, but I don’t want to drown you in information that you may find strange or hard to accept. So let’s just take a quick look at 5 derailers you may want to watch out for…
Food enemy #1 – Juices and smoothies Boy, Brian, you’re hitting me right between the eyes right out of the gate!
Let me make an important distinction here. I’m not saying fruit and vegetable juice and smoothies are bad, on the contrary, my Eat Sleep Burn program comes with a delicious smoothie recipe bonus book. But the difference is in how you get the juices.
I’m talking about packaged stuff here. Bottled juices and pre-made smoothies. Generally, these contain loads of sugar and quite a few carbs… which turn into sugar. And as you know, too much sugar = fat.
If you’re buying these things, check the label for sugars and that there are no more than 15 carbs. Also the combination should be 1 serving of fruit and the rest veggies.
Food enemy #2 – Veggie chips Sorry to burst your bubble, but that bag of so-called “healthy” veggie chips is probably loaded with carbs and sugars. Most commercial veggie chips are actually made from potatoes with some veggie powder sprinkled on them.
If you’re into these snacks, though, there’s a way to get them that’s actually very healthy and even helps to ramp up your metabolism and burn fat…
Food enemy #3 – Protein bars! Dun, dun dun….
Yeah, these expensive goodies are little more than glorified candy bars. Most protein bars have as much sugar as a typical candy bar with a bit of extra protein thrown in… and even that is suspect.
Want to add a protein burst? There’s a right way to do it and in Eat Sleep Burn, I explain how.
Hint: Avoid packaging!
Food enemy #4 – Whole grain breads Once again we run into problems with stuff that’s pre-packaged. In order for the bread companies to claim that their product is “whole” grain they only have to make sure that some of the flour comes from whole wheat or oats. They’re allowed to still include as much as 70% processed flour!
White flour is very easily converted into sugar… and you know what sugar does!
Food enemy #5 – yogurt with fruit at the bottom Oh, come on Brian!
Sorry, but here again we’re up against sugar. Those delicious yogurts with the fruit at the bottom that you mix up and enjoy have their fruit sitting in syrup… sugary syrup… and while fruit is healthy and yogurt is healthy… this is just more unnecessary sugar you can’t afford.
How to turn the tables on the food companies In Eat Sleep Burn, I show you how to lose a pound per day or more by teaching you about how your body works. Your body does two things very well:
Your body stores fat.
Your body burns fat.
In modern times, with so much stress, sitting on our butts and the consumption of pre-packaged foods loaded with sugars and preservatives, we’re all forcing our bodies to store fat for up to 20 hours each day!
However, by understanding how your natural bio-chemistry works and doing things that work toward boosting your metabolism, you can ramp up your body to go from burning fat only 4 hours every day to 12.
When you do that, you begin to shed unsightly and unhealthy fat rapidly – as much if not more than a pound every day!
It’s actually a simple process that doesn’t involve hours of grueling exercise, starvation diets, weird and disgusting foods or really changing your lifestyle all that much. It’s been proven to work and I’d like to share it with you now.
I’ve created a free presentation on Eat Sleep Burn including how I came up with the concept and how the program combines ancient Japanese health secrets with modern science to deliver astonishing results that I guarantee.
Here’s a tiny sample of what East Sleep Burn explores – if you like fruit and yogurt, then buy plain healthy yogurt and whole fruits and combine them yourself! This one simple tip is dozens of times more healthy than what you buy in the store and literally ramps up your metabolism and makes a great snack before you go to bed.
Learn the truth about what you’re being sold – don’t keep butting your head against the wall.
If you’ve ever felt that you want to slim down and regain your former level of energy, health and youthfulness, then you can’t afford not to check out Eat Sleep Burn.

Tips go through ko-fi so click the link when you are ready to cast your vote. $3=one vote but if you want to vote multiple times, you can. Ready? Let’s begin! Choices will be at the bottom of the story.
Chapter One: Seraphina, the People’s Hero Seraphina woke up one morning and yawned as she got out of her bed. She glanced outside, seeing the sun shining. Hopefully, it would be a good day. She brushed her dark, red hair, trying to get rid of the tangles. As she fixed her hair, she thought of what to wear. She only had a few outfits and she needed to buy some new clothing, thanks to her weight gain. Her old red and white dress didn’t fit anymore! Seraphina had needed a job so she really couldn’t regret taking the job as a taste tester for a bakery. The owners of the shop even let her live above it. The only problem was how big she had gotten. It wasn’t lady like for women to eat so much but Seraphina couldn’t help it. She just loved food! And how could she say no to the fantastic food baked and cooked for her daily? Seraphina decided on a lovely lavender dress and got it onto her body. It had been made just for her by the tailor in town. She honestly love the dress. With a smile, Seraphina headed downstairs. Immediately, she was greeted by the warm smells of breakfast food. Closing her eyes, Seraphina licked her lips as she imagined what fantastic foods Candice and Bella had made today. Seraphina entered the bakery, waving to Candice who was behind the counter. She sat down at one of the tables and Bella headed over. “Morning Sera! I’m glad you’re awake. We need you to test some new pancake recipes.” Bella said. “O-okay! That sounds fine.” Seraphina said with a small grin. Knowing Bella and Candice, they probably had made enough pancakes to feed fifty people. But Seraphina honestly couldn’t complain. Yes, she was getting fat but she couldn’t say no to the two of them. When she had moved to Moon Valley, Seraphina almost ended up on the streets. She was an orphan with no family to speak of and after she had turned 18, she got kicked out of the orphanage. Moon Valley was the closet kingdom so she went there. It had been terrifying, thinking about having to live on the streets. But then Bella had found her. Thank god for sweet, kind Bella. Bella had run across Seraphina on the streets. She had been heading to the bakery and invited the homeless Seraphina there. Once there, Belle gave her a room and even offered her a job. Candice was equally kind, her heart as big as Bella’s. Originally, the two women were fine with just letting Seraphina live with them but Seraphina felt bad. She didn’t want to be a freeloader so she suggested she could be a taste tester. Seraphina could live with a few extra pounds. There was no place she would rather be. “Okay, so we have some peach pancakes, some strawberry pancakes and some vanilla pancakes.” Three plates of pancakes were set before Seraphina. All of them were fresh, hot and covered with whipped cream. Seraphina tried not to drool at the sight. She just smiled and picked up her utensils. She cut into the peach pancakes and took a bite. As usual, they were delicious. Perfectly fluffy and filled with flavor. She had no idea how they did it but Bella and Candice made food tastes fantastic. In fact, everyone in Moon Valley was good at making some type of food. From Mrs. Johnson candy store to the brewery owned by Lars, Moon Valley was known for its foods and sweets. It was no wonder that fat people were seen within the streets. It was a normal thing. Even their queen was massive. That was how the new ruler was chosen if the queen ever died; the fattest woman would rule. It was a strange rule but it had been like that for years. Seraphina didn’t question it. Seraphina finished off the peach pancakes. She ran her finger over the plate, getting the remaining whipped cream and licking her finger. She closed her eyes, moaning softly. A normal person would have saved the other two stacks of pancakes for later. But not Seraphina. She pulled the strawberry pancakes close to her and started to chow down. She finished soon, licking the plate clean. Then, she started on the last plate. Only when she was finished with the last pancake did she set her fork and knife down. Sighing happily, she rubbed her stomach. Despite eating three plates of pancakes, Seraphina was still hungry. “Is there anything else to eat?” She asked sheepishly. “I could use just a bit more food.” “Sure thing Sera.” Seraphina smiled but she soon heard something outside.Bella and Candice glanced at each other before going over to the window. “Uh oh, it’s the tax collector again.” Bella said with a sigh. “What is he doing back here? Everyone already paid!” Candice sounded frustrated. “I know but our highness is greedy,” Bella went back to Seraphina’s table. “Ever since Queen Alethea died, Princess Matilda has been taxing us mercilessly. At this rate, we might have to close the bakery.” “What?” Seraphina gasped. “You can’t be serious.” “I’m sorry Sera but the only way for us to stay open is if we find a new queen. And right now, we’re stuck with Matilda,” Bella frowned. “It’s too bad no one has tried to rival her weight gain. If they did, we wouldn’t be in such a fix.” Seraphina couldn’t imagine life without the bakery. Life without Candice and Bella was no life to live either. There was no way Seraphina wanted to go back to living in the gutter. How could she go back to living in poverty with no food or shelter? If only they could have a new queen who wouldn’t ruin the lives of hardworking people. A new queen. Seraphina thought for a second. The biggest woman in the kingdom became the queen. So if Seraphina could gain more weight…. “Wait, that’s it!” Seraphina stood up, her stomach wobbling. “I’ll become queen!” “What?” Bella looked shocked but then she began to think. “Wait a minute, that’s not a bad idea! It could work! Seraphina eats more than anyone I’ve ever met! This could work!” “Well it’s not a terrible idea really,” Candice said. “Do you think you could do it Sera?” “Yes, I could do it,” Seraphina said. “I love Moon Valley and I love this bakery. I don’t want anything to happen to it. It’s also not fair that Matilda is taxing people almost every other day! I may not be the smartest person around but I know what is right and that isn’t. So I’ll do it. I’ll become queen.” “Oh Sera, that’s wonderful!” Bella clapped her hands. “Now, we just have to figure out how much Matilda weighs. I think her last weight count was 500 lbs.” “If that is so, we might want to be safe and try to get Seraphina to 600lbs,” Candice mused. “Do you mind if we start today Sera?” “Of course not!” It took about four hours for Bella and Candice to make enough food for Seraphina. They had weighed her and Seraphina was at 360 lbs. Of course, to get her to be queen, they would have to fatten her up considerably. “Alright, so we’re starting off with a full meal for now,” Bella said. “We have steak, glazed ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, rice and pasta salad. To drink, some warm cider. For dessert, we made you a cake.” “Let’s hope you can eat this all in one sitting,” Candice added. “I heard that her highness eats double this.” “I can do this,” Seraphina grabbed her fork and knife. “I know I can.” At least Seraphina wanted to do able to do this. More than anything. Moon Valley was the only home she had ever known. She loved this place. Everyone was so kind and accepting. No one cared if Seraphina liked to eat and not a single person made fun of her for being fat. Once she had been thrown out the orphanage, Seraphina found she could eat as much as she wanted. She didn’t have to share with others. She could eat a whole plate of food and then get another. Now, Seraphina was just food obsessed. Seraphina dug into the spread before her. With gusto, she devoured two large steaks with ease and finished a whole mug of cider. She gobbled up the creamy mashed potatoes, savoring their garlic flavoring. Most women couldn’t eat like Seraphina. She had no trouble stuffing her face. Burping, she took huge swig of her ale. Seraphina stuffed one while steak into her mouth, chewed it as much as should could before she swallowed. She didn’t know what kind of marinade Candice was using but it was tasted wonderful. Seraphina placed two more steaks on her plate. She tore into one, chewing and swallowing before taking another bite. The queen ate double what had been prepared? That was a lot of food. That also didn’t sound like a good queen. Shouldn’t a queen make sure her people fed before she was? As Seraphina continued to eat, she thought about what she would do as queen. If she became queen, she would make sure everyone had enough to eat. With her first steak done, she started on the second one. While she thought, Seraphina continued to eat. The steaks soon disappeared. With the steaks gone, she moved onto the ham as her main focus. She replenished her mashed potatoes and corn. Her mug was refilled before she started wolfing down the ham. The glaze was sweet but not too sweet. It complimented the ham perfectly! For a second, she savored the flavor. She stuck another piece in mouth. For hours she ate, her stomach growing as food filled it up. She finally ate the very last piece of pasta salad before giving a loud belch. Seraphina leaned back, a smile on her face. The ale was affecting her and she felt extremely bloated. God, it was such a fantastic feeling! “Don’t forget, you have cake to eat too.” Bella said. “Could you possibly feed it to me?” Seraphina asked. “I don’t think I can reach it. God, my stomach is huge!” Belle picked up the cake. It was a double fudge cake with caramel filling and lavender icing. Seraphina opened up her mouth and let Belle feed her. Seraphina started to think about how wonderful it would be to be a queen. She would get to live in a beautiful castle surrounded by servants. There would be elegant gowns and opulent jewelry to wear. Oh and she would probably get to have balls. But then she thought of something. “Bella, if I do become queen—will you and Candice come with me?” Seraphina asked. “What? You wouldn’t need us anymore,” Bella replied. “You would have the royal chef.” “But the royal chef isn’t you two! I don’t care about his credentials or whatever, I care about having you two in my life.” “Oh Sera, you’re so sweet,” Candice said with a smile. “Of course we’ll come with you.” Seraphina sighed with relief. There was no way she could go to the castle without Bella or Candice. That was out of the question. Who cared if the royal chef went to a fancy school? Seraphina didn’t need that. She needed her two best friends in the whole entire world. That was all that really mattered to her. When Seraphina ate the very last bit of cake, she felt stuffed beyond belief. This had been the most she ever eaten in her entire life. It was wonderful. With a grunt, she managed to stand up. With Bella’s held, she waddled over to the scale. “I can’t believe it! She gained 120 lbs!” Candice said looking at the number. “That’s amazing! Oh Sera, you’re doing it!” Bella patted Seraphina’s stomach. “It’s a good start,” Seraphina burped. “So, what’s next?” What Happens Next? You decide! Choice A: One of the neighbors comes by with a plethora of cookies Choice B: Seraphina gets thirsty and decides to visit the local pub

In order for the bread companies to claim that their product is “whole” grain… they only have to make sure that some of the flour comes from whole wheat or oats.
