I'd like to strangle the man who said "Money Can't Buy Happiness" for the first time because he said that and one of his friends took it as a challenge to make the late stage capitalist society we live in today be his response to said challenge.

Because money sure can't buy happiness but psychologically speaking we cannot think about being happy till our base needs are met, like food and shelter.

Nah people are gonna hate me for this but sometimes whenever I open ao3 or tumblr for a certain fandom and ALL the posts are about men, specifically conventionally attractive white men but not always, or a ship between two conventionally attractive white men. Like please god can we just give women and lesbian ships (and any poc) the time of day please. It makes me so mad because of the double standards like oh women cant be morally grey, they have to be perfect, women cant sleep with people, that makes them sluts, but these are all things men can do. God I'm so sick of it.

thinking about how when they're on the phone before the aglaeca comes to them and they're talking about regrets/confessions in 2x05, ace confesses to hacking into the federal database to find grant's number, bess confesses to her kleptomania (which i mean they all kinda knew anyway), nick confesses his regret over not using tiffany's drive to take down the hudsons, and that he just wants to rebuild his life, and george says she has no regrets. then george says "nancy's turn" (i also hate the way she says it bc it's so like "gee what will nancy pick, so has so many things to apologize for"

ace, bess and nick all talk about things specific to them, but nancy says "i regret ever hurting any of you. you trusted me when i made mistakes. and i never wanted anybody to get hurt. even though i am a hudson, and my genes don't exactly do me any favors in the leadership department"

nancy doesn't give a shit about things she wasn't able to do, or even mention not getting to make up with carson. her biggest regret is that she unintentionally hurt them and i just…god i know we talk about it all the time, but this episode is just so hard to watch for so many reasons. no, nancy is not perfect, but she did not drag them kicking and screaming into this mess with the aglaeca. in fact, she told them she didn't want them involved and instead of walking away, they dove in head first because that's what they do. they're there for each other no matter what. and the fact that they try to rewrite history pisses me off

(again, i know they're scared and they don't want to die, which is very valid and that fear makes you react in ways that you probably wouldn't otherwise, but it makes me upset that they just kinda double down on it instead of apologizing)

the fact that microsoft’s inherently shitty ai app is one of the most downloaded and well received apps on the apple app store is an actual fucking crime. idc if it works and that’s why it’s good it’s still ai.

i know anyone who still defends ai being used to replicate and/or replace any form of artistic expression is a massive creatively bankrupt person who probably peaked in high school and is struggling to be anything due to how anything seen as cringe/unpopular equals bad + the majority of people who actively use apps are either old farts with most of their brain ripped out or ipad/tiktok kids who have had their brains rotted to the point of no return but considering how the most popular forms of ai function off of theft and even privacy breaching (with the former at least being pushed to the forefront). yeah.

ai can be good i have to stress that but the ways it has and continues to be most commonly used is stealing, and considering how many voice actors who have had their voice used in voice synthesizers expressed being genuinely uncomfortable and hurt by it, this shouldn’t just be swept under the rug. it’s dangerous. did we learn nothing from the billions of “ai bad and dystopian” plot lines in books/movies/games/any form of media. did we.

I love volume 9 dont get me wrong and it might just be my favorite volume but fucking christ. The one, massive flaw this volume has is literally just Jaunes entire existence. They made him so fucking unlikeable. I totally get what they were going for with his character arc and whatever but I do not like him after this volume. Now I just view him as a selfish asshole.

Ruby had a panic attack mid fight and he snapped at her "I know you may not care about protecting this village, but you can at least help your friends when they're in danger" and literally one look at Rubys face that entire moment would tell you she was Not Fucking Okay. Sure he kinda backed off after Ruby moved away from her weapon, but I really dislike the way the writers took the attention off of her in this moment.

Theres nothing wrong with the actual idea, I just think the actual execution of it was really poor. Using Jaune as a way to constantly take the attention off of Ruby just made me hate him and audibly groan whenever he came onto screen. Like. go away dude, this is not the Ruby/Jaune volume this was meant to be the Ruby volume.

Especially disliked the way he shouted at her. Like it was extremely obvious how fucking upset Ruby was, she literally said "Find someone who isn't going to mess everything up!" and like 10 seconds later he decided to shout at her about how it was all her fault and cause her to run off. Dude. Get a fucking grip, not everything is about you and what you lost. This was a moment where Ruby needed the comfort of her friends, not you.

Like I get what she said about the paper pleasers was pretty rude, but his reaction and what he said to her was genuinely so fucking awful. He said it was her plan when if you look back at v8, it was not just her plan Jaune contributed a lot to it too. It just really gets under my skin, and made me genuinely dislike Jaune. He's just such a douche the entire volume.

i feel like it implies that because our relationship is platonic, it isn't as important as a romantic one. it makes it sound like our relationship should be romantic, that it isn't "good enough" if i don't want something more with someone

i love all (read: EVERY SINGLE ONE) of my friends. platonically. platonic love is so important to me. it's so amazing. and saying something like "just friends" implies that platonic love somehow isn't the best love out there.

In a “billions won’t be hoarded by one person” type of way. not to be controversial bc I know this is like…not in line with shifting opinions on fanfic comment culture but if there’s a glaring typo in my work I will NOT be offended by pointing it out. if ao3 fucks up the formatting…I will also not be offended by having this pointed out…

‘looking forward to the next update’ and ‘I hope you update soon!’ are different vibes than a demand, and should be read in good faith because a reader is finding their way to tell you how much they love it. I will not be mad at this.

‘I don’t usually like this ship but this fic made me feel something’ is also incredibly high praise. I’m not going to get mad at this.

even ‘I love this fic but I’m curious about why you made [x] choice’ is just another way a reader is engaging in and putting thought into your work.

I just feel like a lot of authors take any comment that’s not perfectly articulated glowing praise in the exact manner they’re hoping to receive it in bad faith.

fic engagement has been dropping across the board over the last several years, and yes it’s frustrating but it isn’t as though I can’t see how it happens. comment anxiety can be a real thing. the last thing anyone wants to do is offend an author they love, and that means sometimes people default to silence.

idk where I’m going with this I guess aside from saying unless a comment is outright attacking me I’m never going to get mad at it, and I think a lot of authors should feel the same way. ESPECIALLY TYPOS PLZ GOD POINT OUT MY TYPOS.
