Lower Decks Season 4 Episode 7
First of all, I was RIGHT!!!! The ships aren't destroyed, and neither are the crews! We're more than likely gonna get more of that one Klingon kid!
Secondly, at first I didn't really like this episode. It felt like the show was spinning its wheels, chucking characters around randomly. Why Peanut Hamper again? Why Agimus? Why did Badgey show up, only to ascend? How the hell did Ruthie make an AI advanced enough to ascend to godhood?
Then I realized: they're clearing the villains roster. PH, Ags, and Badgey were all previous villains that had just kinda been left in the open since they were seen last. Giving them all an end to their arcs (PH going back home, Agimus actually trying to be better, Badgey splitting off into Goodgey and ascending) is Lower Decks' way of saying these are not our Big Bad. They're intentionally snipping off those loose strands I talked about last week, leaving only a few options left.
Additionally, we've got minor villains from 3/4 of the main squad out of the way here. Tendi was Peanut Hamper's liaison, Boimler betrayed Agimus, and Rutherford finally reconciled with his son. I have a feeling somebody from Mariner's past is going to show up, and it isn't going to be pretty.
Either way, this has Section 31 written all over it. With our inorganic friends out of the way, who else could it be?
We've got William Boimler and one hell of a Mariner blow-up on the horizon, plus hopefully some more T'lyn development and maybe a little more of the Tendi/Rutherford stuff that's going on.
It's going to be a very interesting three episodes!

Yandere Brad Boimler hcs
I have been simping for this man since the show first started. I mean just look at him, he's so cute đ Please enjoy my goofy purple boim
This has been in my drafts for sooo long, since a month before they announced the crossover. I think this is my longest one yet, at 3,123 words. Please enjoy reading about my crazy boi. I'm obsessed with him. Happy reading!
(p.s. I'm trying out a new style/format of headcanons so tell me what you think!)
You became friends with Boimler because he helped show you around, quickly joining our favorite lower decks group. He fell in love at first sight and hasnât been able to stop loving you since. Brad immediately became obsessed with you.
Using the Friend Group:
Bradward uses your being a part of the friend group to his advantage, always having an excuse to spend time with you and be more affectionate if you werenât friends. He spends almost every day with the group, so now that youâre in it he gets to be with you every day!Â
Constant Surveillance:Â
Boimler has hacked into ship systems to monitor every move you make, from your schedule to casual conversations. He has all your movements mapped out, and he knows when you deviate from your routine, which sends him into an anxious spiral. He tells himself that itâs his duty to keep you safeâafter all, space is dangerous, and who better than him to protect you?
Whenever youâre sent on an away mission, Boimler secretly follows your progress, obsessing over every update, every scan, and every communication. Heâll even find ways to get himself included in the mission or nearby, telling himself itâs to keep you safe. But in reality, he canât stand being apart from you for too long.
Boimler keeps private logs entirely dedicated to you. He documents everythingâwhat you wore today, who you interacted with, what you said, and how you reacted to his presence. He analyzes these logs obsessively, trying to detect any signs of your "hidden feelings" for him.
Collection of âMementosâ:Â
It starts with innocent things: a pen you dropped, a PADD you left behind, or a uniform pin that fell off during an away mission. But soon, heâs collecting more intimate itemsâa strand of your hair, stray hair, an old PADD you discarded, maybe even a piece of your uniform that "mysteriously" went missing. He spends hours staring at them, whispering about how they connect the two of you. Each object is treated like a treasure, meticulously cataloged and hidden away in a secure section of his quarters.
âHey Y/N, I brought you that new toothbrush Iâve been telling you about. Iâll put it in your bathroom for you.â Bradward smiles at you as he walks past you into your quarters into your bathroom, quick enough to snag your old toothbrush and replace it with the new one he replicated. He quickly stuffs the old one into his pants pocket before leaving the bathroom. âI threw your old one away, tell me how you like the new one!â He says, his heart drumming with excitement over having something new to add to his collection, and best of all this one still has a part of you on it!
Paranoid Delusions:
Boimler becomes incredibly paranoid that someone else might take you away from him. Every interaction you have with others feels like a threat. He keeps a close eye on who you talk to, carefully monitoring your social interactions. He starts to think of your colleagues and even your closest friends as rivals, sabotaging or discrediting anyone who gets too close. Brad honestly believes that he is protecting you from harmâbecause no one can love you as much as he does.
In his mind, everyone who talks to you, even Mariner and them, has some ulterior motive. They want to take you away from him. They canât see how perfect you two are together. He grows anxious, convinced that everyone is a potential threat. He often "coincidentally" shows up at your side just as someone else is talking to you, interrupting conversations with awkward but intense enthusiasm.
The more his delusions grow, the more frustrated Boimler becomes with reality. Heâs convinced you love him, but any interaction that doesnât fit his idealized version of events sends him into a spiral of self-doubt and paranoia. Heâll spend days obsessing over the smallest âmistakesâ he made in conversation, convinced that he ruined his chance to make you realize how perfect he is for you.
Extreme Overplanning:Â
Boimler is always two steps ahead. He plans every conversation, every accidental encounter with you, down to the smallest detail. He studies your past behavior, analyzing what topics you enjoy, what jokes make you laugh, and even the way you respond to body language. His PADD is full of notes about how best to make you comfortable, how to steer conversations, and what not to say to avoid making you suspicious of his true intentions.Â
He rehearses what heâll say, how heâll say it, and imagines your reactions over and over. Any deviation from the script throws him off, but he quickly adjusts, happy to adapt for you.
Bradward has also planned your entire life together, of course, there are different plans depending on how things go. He has one of him finally captain of his own ship and you by his side as you explore the galaxy together, one plan involves quitting Starfleet and marrying you at his familyâs vineyard and taking over the family business together. Brad has at least 30 plans in a locked folder buried deep in the computer system, you can never be too prepared, can you?
Jealous and Possessive:Â
Boimler can become visibly agitated whenever you talk to someone else, particularly if he sees you laughing or smiling with them. He'll often find some excuse to insert himself into the situation, trying to monopolize your time under the guise of "just wanting to spend time with his friend." Inside, though, his mind is racing, thinking of ways to subtly sabotage your relationships with others.
Boimler becomes possessive to the point of being overbearing. He genuinely believes that you belong to/with him, and he wonât tolerate any interference. He starts to casually suggest you spend less time with others, manipulating situations to ensure that youâre always by his side. Boimler will find ways to isolate you from the crew, perhaps even using his JGL rank to transfer other officers or manipulate duty rosters. He justifies this in his mind as "necessary" to protect your bond.
Boimler's jealousy knows no bounds. The smallest hint of affection or attention from someone else drives him to extreme lengths. He might use his position to assign dangerous away missions to anyone he sees as competition, or even orchestrate "accidents" to remove threats from your life. If you get close to someone, Boimler sees them as nothing more than a temporary obstacle. Heâs willing to go to any lengths to make sure you stay his. He feels no remorse in âremovingâ obstacles.
Constantly Seeking Approval:
Boimler is desperate for your approval. He over-analyzes every interaction, wondering if you found his last conversation charming enough or if you noticed how hard heâs working. Heâll go out of his way to show off his Starfleet achievements in front of you, hoping youâll realize how competent and reliable he is. To him, you're the only opinion that matters.
Brad spends an insane amount of time working on his appearance just to hear you compliment him.
Heâs desperate to hear your praise, even over the smallest things, and spirals into paranoia if he feels like you arenât paying enough attention to him. Did you ignore him in the corridor? Was your smile too brief? His mind races with questions, fearing that youâre slipping away from him.
Affection:
Because youâre a part of the group he can be overly affectionate with you, always hugging you.
He is extremely affectionate, always touching you in some way, to the point you start thinking he was denied affection as a kid! But that's not true, he just wants your affection all the time 24/7. He might have an arm around your shoulder, give you a âfriendlyâ hug, hold your hand when he leads you somewhere, anything really.
Boimler will subtly manipulate you if try to avoid or dodge his touches, guilt-tripping you. âI just wanna show my best friend that I care about you, is that too much to ask Y/N?â
Stalker Tendencies:
When he's not physically around you, Boimler still manages to keep tabs on you. Heâs always nearby, lurking just out of sight, making sure no one is getting too close. He knows your daily routes, and youâll often find him "accidentally" bumping into you in the hallways or the mess hall at the perfect moment. He plays it off as a coincidence, but in reality, heâs spent hours calculating the ideal times to be near you.
His desire, no, need to know more about you turns into full-on stalking. He uses his Starfleet access to monitor your comm logs, schedule, and even personal logs. He finds ways to be everywhere you are, showing up at the replicator, in the turbolift, or even during away missions. Boimler believes that fate (or perhaps his own ingenuity) is constantly putting him in your orbit. Each time heâs near you, it feels like the universe is confirming that you belong together.
Unhinged Anger:
Boimler tries so hard to maintain his composure and be the calm, level-headed officer that Starfleet expects. However, underneath his normally anxious, rule-following exterior, thereâs a deep well of frustration and suppressed anger, especially when things donât go as planned. After bottling up stress, anxiety, thoughts of you never loving him, and the weight of feeling inadequate for so long, Boimler occasionally cracks, letting his emotions explode in a way that shocks everyone around him.
Triggered by Jealousy:
One of the rare times Boimler truly loses control is when he feels like someone is coming between you two, whether it's a friend, a fellow officer, or even someone casually speaking with you. The thought of someone else getting closer to you causes a fury he struggles to contain. Normally, Boimler tries to brush off his jealousy with nervous laughter and self-deprecating jokes, but deep down, it eats at him.
Maybe itâs an offhand comment you make about enjoying time with another officer, or seeing you share a laugh with someone else. Thatâs all it takes for Boimlerâs insecurities to flare up. Heâs been so patient, playing the long game, waiting for the perfect moment to confess his feelings, but now, his fear of losing you pushes him over the edge.
Boimler had been under an insane amount of stress that week: a malfunctioning PADD, a tough mission report, a higher-ranked officer pushing him around, and now the idea that someone else was catching your attention? It was too much.
âY/N, are you really going to keep spending all your time with him?â Boimler blurts out one day, his voice shaking with barely suppressed frustration. âIâve been by your side this entire time, butâ" He stammers, trying to collect his words before they spill out in a mess of emotion. But the bottled-up rage heâs been holding in for so long finally cracks. His face turns red, his hands clench, and he lets out a shout that makes everyone in earshot turn to stare. âIâM JUST AS GOOD AS HIM! WHY DOESNâT ANYONE EVER SEE THAT?!â His chest is heaving, his usually wide, worried eyes narrowing as he glares at the officer whoâs been spending more time with you lately. He can feel his blood boiling as he loses control, shouting in a way thatâs completely out of character for him. This isnât the Boimler anyoneâs used to seeing. Itâs raw, untamed anger thatâs been building for so long, and once itâs unleashed, itâs like watching a different person altogether.
âBACK OFF,â he growls out to the officer talking to you, his face twisted in fury. He knows heâs dangerously close to crossing a line, but he canât stop himself. Itâs like somethingâs been unleashed inside him, a part of him he didnât even know existed, until now. âIâve worked my ass off to get where I am. Iâm a good officer! Iâm dedicated! And Iâm not going to let someone just walk in and take whatâs mine!â His rant surprises you, this is not the Boimler youâre used to. Heâs always been so meek, so self-deprecating, always eager to please and to follow the rules. But now? His anger feels untethered, like a different side of him has surfaced, one driven by the fear of losing what heâs worked so hard to build, both in his career and in his relationship with you.
Delusional Fantasies:Â
Boimler starts to imagine scenarios in which you reciprocate his feelings. He rehearses conversations in his head, certain that if he can just say the right thing, you'll realize you're meant to be together. He believes that every polite smile or kind word you give him is a sign of your deep, hidden affection for him. In his mind, you already love him, you just havenât figured it out yetâand itâs his job to help you see it.
Heâs obsessed with imagining your future togetherâmarriage, shared quarters, working side-by-side on away missions. He fantasizes about how perfect life would be once you finally realize youâre meant for each other. These dreams are so vivid that he sometimes confuses them with reality, thinking that youâve already shown signs of affection.
He fantasizes about heroically pulling you from a dangerous mission, fighting off enemies to protect you, or being the one to comfort you in times of distress. In his mind, these daydreams solidify his belief that you belong to him because he's the only one who can truly be your "savior."
Manipulative Kindness:
He constantly does small favors for youâfixing your equipment, volunteering for shifts that overlap with yours, or offering help with your work. While on the surface these actions seem like normal kindness, Boimler is using them to make you more reliant on him. The more you need him, the closer youâll be to accepting him as a permanent fixture in your life. Heâll subtly plant suggestions in your mind during conversations, manipulating your decisions without you even realizing it.Â
Sleepless Nights:Â
Boimler spends many nights obsessively thinking about you, losing sleep as he replays every word and glance you've exchanged. He imagines scenarios where you are in danger, and only he can save you, feeding his delusions that heâs your one true protector. Sleep deprivation only heightens his paranoia and attachment.
He will spend nights planning and studying, planning your future together, backup plans, emergency plans, and studying your actions and conversations.
Risky Missions:Â
When the crew is sent on away missions, Boimler becomes hyper-focused on ensuring you're safe. Heâll go so far as to put himself in danger to draw attention away from you, just to ensure that no harm comes your way. If you notice and thank him, he takes it as a sign that youâre slowly realizing how much he truly cares for you.
Subtle Sabotage:Â
Boimler discreetly interferes with any relationships or friendships you develop that might take time or attention away from him. If you start getting close to someone, he might "accidentally" misfile important reports or pass on misinformation that leads to minor conflicts between you and that person, all under the guise of being helpful.
Despite all of this, there's a part of Boimler that knows heâs going too far, but heâs convinced/deluded himself into thinking that itâs all for your own good. He justifies that once you're together, youâll understand why he did everything he did. His overwhelming need for you and your love has pushed him to the edge, no longer thinking logically or rationally.
Confessing Feelings:
When Boimler decides it's time to reveal his "love," itâs not subtle. He plans elaborate, over-the-top romantic gestures, convinced that theyâll sweep you off your feet. Maybe he takes over a holodeck program, creating a dream date for you so he can confess to you. Or perhaps he engineers a crisis on a starship mission that only he can solve, framing himself as your hero. In his mind, these grand gestures are proof of his devotion.
Rejection:
If you ever reject Boimler, it completely shatters his delusions, but he refuses to accept reality. Heâll convince himself that someone must have manipulated you into rejecting him, or that youâre just confused. This could make him even more dangerousâhis obsession intensifies, and he might resort to kidnapping you, believing that if youâre just alone together long enough, youâll understand that youâre meant to be.
âIâm sorry Boims,â you nervously start with. You were dreading this moment, Rutherford had told you that Boimler was going to ask you out but you were hoping he was joking. Sure you love boimler, but not like that, more as a best friend. âI love you Bradward but not like that I donât think, youâre one of my best friends and I donât want to ruin that. You know?â You can practically see Bradâs heartbreak, you feel horrible for hurting your friend, but then all of a sudden he gives you a manic smile. He struggles to remain calm, convinced someone has gotten into your head. âYou donât really mean that! Weâre meant to be together Y/N, you know this!â
Days go by, and you think heâs thought everything over and understands why you rejected him, unfortunately for you, that's not happening. Boimler has gotten increasingly erratic, watching you from the shadows more than before, noting every smile and conversation with everyone but him. Watching you spend time and smile at others feels like a dagger to his heart. Heâs convinced himself he must now do everything in his power to bring you back to him. One night while the Cerritos is in spacedock to refuel and do some small maintenance Bradward sees his chance to put his plan into action. He sneaks into your quarters, cautious to not wake Tendi or Marniner up. Brad feels his heart dance with a mix of fear and excitement, he creeps towards your bunk prepared with a set of restraints. If he can just show how your life together will be then he knows youâll love him as much as he loves you. Boimler quickly and quietly restrains you and covers your mouth as he drags you out of your bed and quarters. âShh, it's okay, Iâm doing this for us. Youâll see, Iâm the only one who truly cares about you. They donât understand you like I do!â He whispers into your ear as he drags you away to the shuttle bay. âYouâll see, youâll love our life back at my familyâs vineyard, Iâve already sent in our resignation letters to HQ. Weâll get married, itâll be perfect, just you and me.â Brad says with a crazed smile and quickly gets you situated in the shuttle. âJust you and me, Y/Nâ
THEY USED THE ACTUAL VOICE ACTORS TO PLAY THEIR CHARACTERS IN THE CROSS-OVER. Jack Quaid makes him even prettier. JUST LOOK AT HIS LITTLE DORKY SMILE đ©

So I've been watching DS9 all the way through for the first time (yes, I know, what the fuck have I been doing with my life and how dare I call myself a Trekkie, but hey, at least I'm getting around to it now!) and all of the gifs and clips I've seen before simply do not do it justice. It's been a great distraction from all the shit I've been going through lately, and since I've got nothing but free time right now, I've been on a real binge. I've just started the episode where Rom is trying to start a union, and boy howdy is it as relevant today as it was when it first aired, just like so many of the other episodes I've seen so far. Side note, I did not expect to love Rom so much, and yet here we are. I just want to give the poor guy a big hug and a sackful of gold-pressed latinum just for being a sweetheart.
Anyway, here are a few of my other thoughts on the series so far:
-Garak/Bashir OTP. They're basically already married, but so far Garak seems to be the only one who realizes that.
-I would let Mirror!Kira do whatever she wanted with me.
-Same goes for regular Kira, obviously, but Mirror!Kira has the edge over her for being just so deliciously evil and hedonistic that she's basically irresistible to me. Gloriously flamboyant and campy female villains are basically like catnip to me, I can't help it.
-Jadzia Dax may also do whatever she wishes to me. That sexy spotted worm-lady is flawless and Lenara Kahn was a fool to give up on her, taboos or not.
-On a similar note, Dax/Worf is okay but not as good as Kira/Dax would have been.
-I still headcanon Worf as autistic. Captain Sisko, too.
-If DS9 didn't win any awards for "The Visitor" then there is no justice in this world. That episode BROKE me to pieces and then put me back together.
-Dukat used to be a legitimate threat but now he's kind of, I don't know, adorably pathetic? Like dude, Sisko and Kira are not going to fuck you. Move on with your life. Team Rocket has more dignity than him.
-Quark and Odo need to just fuck and get it over with.
-Miles O'Brien and Harry Kim need to start a support group for people who are the designated chew-toys of the universe, and Bradward Boimler from Lower Decks should join.
-This is one of those rare shows where I don't think there's a single character I dislike, at least among the main cast. Kai Winn can go fuck herself with something hard and sandpapery, though. Betch.

Letâs (Briefly) Talk #StarTrekLowerDecks
Despite the showâs unusual tone, it is a surprisingly good addition to the Star Trek franchise.
For my brief thoughts on Paramount+âs Star Trek: Lower Decks, feel free to keep reading. There will be (light) spoilers.
Lower Decks takes place on the USS Cerritos, but instead of centering around the main crew focuses on four ensigns who follow their orders. They are Beckett Mariner, Bradward Boimler, DâVana Tendi, and Sam Rutherford. In addition, one of the showâs major conflicts involve Mariner and her mother who also happens to be the shipâs captain Carol Freeman.
The showâs title originates from a Star Trek: The Next Generation episode of the same name. It expanded upon the Enterpriseâs lower ranked officers who would normally be portrayed as expendable redshirts, something which has been prevalent throughout the franchise.
Lower Decks stands out from the franchiseâs other shows. Instead of focusing on either the senior officers or someone connected to the bridge crew, it centers around the ensigns who work below them.Â
The showâs main character, Beckett, might be considered by some as yet another Michael Burnham (from sister show Discovery). Both rebel against authority and tend to find a way to survive despite risking their lives. That is where the similarities end. Whereas Burnham does it for a wide range of factors, Beckett mostly does it to piss off her mom.
With that noted, longtime Trek fans may be turned off by the showâs comedic tone. While the show is still about going around the galaxy and interacting with a wide range of aliens, the characters are far more raunchier than usual. They also occasionally swear, which is intentionally censored for comedic effect.
Some might see the show as the Star Trek version of Rick and Morty, which is understandable due to the involvement of Mike McMahan. He previously worked on Rick & Morty, winning an Emmy for his work on the famous âPickle Rickâ episode, and also created Huluâs Solar Opposites.
Where they differ are in references. In those two shows, the characters regularly bring up pop culture, such as Rick ordering his coat to ârip off Doctor Strangeâ. Lower Decks similarly refers to the franchiseâs past, either to mock it, as a callback, or both. Most of the references work, such as an image of Kirk and Spock lifted directly from The Animated Series. Others feel a bit forced, like a character referring to the events of the original Star Trek series as TOS.
Continuity-wise, the show is set between Star Trek: Nemesis and Star Trek: Picard. It is mostly not brought up until the finale, when a couple of certain characters from both productions make an appearance.Â
It also continues a controversial trend from Discovery, where officers from different ships wear different uniforms. While the grey uniforms from the Next Generation films make an appearance, the Cerritos crew primarily wear a slightly altered version of said TV showâs uniforms.Â
This might have been done intentionally to give this show its own distinct look, since almost every other show has featured a different version of the uniforms. With three exceptions.
Due to airing alongside most of the Next Generation films, Deep Space Nine went from wearing a mixture of that showâs uniforms and a flipped variation (also seen in Generations)Â to the aforementioned grey. Voyager, on the other hand, solely used the variation due to its premise. The Animated Series wore the original showâs uniforms as it was a direct continuation.
The showâs animation is bright, colorful, and fluid. Like the aforementioned 70s series, it has the freedom to feature nonhumanoid characters such as Chief Medical Officer TâAna and Ensign DâVana. The former is a Caitian (a literal talking cat alien only previously seen in said 70s show), while the latter is an Orion (a green-skinned alien from the original series). Either would be too cost-prohibited to appear in live action but not in animation. Hopefully, the showâs second season will feature more nonhumanoid characters.
Despite all of this, the show does have a few flaws.
The characters might be seen by some to be too obnoxious.Â
While the other shows have had eccentric characters, such as Wesley, Neelix, and Quark, they tended to limit it to only one character per show. In Lower Decks, however, everyone is obnoxious in some form or another. They range from being militaristic with their duty to goofing off while at work. It helps the show stand out, but some might see it as the franchise dumbing itself down to the lowest common denominator.
Unlike the majestic theme songs of Discovery and Picard, this showâs theme is incredibly awful. At first it tries to resemble that of Next Generation, only to abruptly sound like a mashup of it, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager, almost as if someone played all the themes simultaneously. By contrast, the introâs visuals quickly set the tone by showing the Cerritos screwing things up and running away from bigger problems.
Star Trek: Lower Decks may not be as dramatic as the original Star Trek or Next Generation, or as gritty as Discovery or Picard, but it does fill in a comedic niche the franchise has frankly lacked. It stands out with its unique perspective, obnoxious but likable characters, and bright and colorful animation.
If you like animated science fiction, or want to watch as much of Star Trek as possible, this show is worth checking out at least once.
Star Trek: Lower Decks can be streamed, depending on your region, exclusively on Paramount+ (formerly CBS All Access), Prime Video, or Crave. The showâs second season will premiere later this year.
Until next time, thank you for reading!

Counter Clock Incident Redux
When the Senior Crew comes back from an away mission, they mysteriously start to become younger. Itâs up to Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford, Tendi, and Westlake to figure out whatâs going on before itâs too late.
Edit: I wanted to make clear that this story takes place in an alternate timeline where Shax doesn't die in no small parts.
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Chapter 3
"Ya know," Beckett Mariner walked down the hallway "sometimes your brown nosing can come in handy"
Bradward Boimler replied to her "Double-fudge brownie bars are the way to Commander Stevens heart, and good thing too, I am not cut out for the brig."
"Oh come on, we just cracked his PADD. He could always replicate a new one" Mariner ruffled her fringes.
"Yeah but-" Boimler was cut off as two officers slammed into him, knocking him to the floor. When he lifted his head back up, a phaser was pointed right at him. He looked at the person holding the phaser. It was a lieutenant that was wearing a 2350s Starfleet command uniform. The person holding the phaser was a woman, her dark curly hair was tied back in a tight bun, and there was a white patch in her bangs. He glanced over to Mariner, who was against a wall with her hands up. The phaser pointed at her was held by an ensign in yellow, with short, blond hair.
The woman spoke first, "Who are you, where are we, and where is the Enterprise!" She enunciated every word.
"I don't know?" Mariner twirled her hand, "Last time I checked, the Enterprise was making a stop near Andoria"
"Wrong!" The woman spoke "The Enterprise isn't scheduled to be anywhere near Andoria"
"Who are you?" Brad finally spit out
"We ask the questions" The blond man spoke.
"You have a phaser pointed at me for no reason!" Brad was starting to panic.
"Fine, Lieutenant Carol Freeman, USS Enterprise 1701-D"
"Ensign Andy Billups, USS Enterprise 1701-D"
Beckett's eyes drifted to the person who claimed to be her mother.
"Mom?" She spoke
Freeman turned to her "Don't you dare call me 'mom'. My baby girl is fast asleep in my quarters right now"
Mariner stared and disbelief, her jaw hanging open. Her mother was barely a few years older than her.
"Tell us where we are and where the Enterprise is!" Billups broke the silence.
"This is the Cerritos! The Enterprise that you're talking about crashed 8 years ago! It's 2380!" Mariner tried to reason with them. Brad was just hoping that those phasers were set to stun.
"Lieutenant, just put the phaser down and we can talk about this."
"Shut your mouth," she snapped.
"Hey, don't talk to my best friend like that" Mariner was on her last straw.
"Oh shut up!"
"No, you shut up!"
"Put the phaser down right now or so help me Q"
"Your not the boss of me"
The mother-daughter pair continued to bicker at each other until two other people came running up from behind. It was Tendi and Westlake, hypo sprays in hand.
"Sorry Commander Billups," Tendi said as she injected the hypospray into his neck. His last words before passing out were something about Lieutenant Yar arresting them. Westlake started to restrain Freeman, with the help of Mariner.
"Get off of me" the captain jerked.
"Westlake, get the dang hypo in!"
"Hold on" he placed the hypospray on her neck "got it" the medicine was injected in and Carol slumped in the nurses' hands.
"Anyone wanna explain why we almost got barbecued by the Captain and the Chief Engineer?" Beckett's voice was full of both concern and irritation.
"And why the heck they thought they were kidnapped, were wearing old uniforms, why they look youngerâŠ" Brad was cut off by Tendi.
"The Senior Crew went into some sort of wormhole, and they're de-aging. Not only that, but they're also losing their memories."
Westlake and other nurses were placing both officers and transport beds to send them back to Medbay. "These two escaped while we weren't looking, they're the only two on the Senior Crew that still recognize each other."
"Where are the rest of the officers?" Brad asked
"Chang is watching them! I'm sure she's having a great time. I know I would love to watch kids. We don't get many of them on a starship! They are so fun!" Tendi spoke
"No one is ever gonna want me on their starship with this face" young Ransom cried for the 3rd time this hour about his acne, and Chag was beginning to unravel.
"You'll get on to plenty of starships" she tried to be comforting, but Ransom continued to wail.
Across the room, shax was, yet again, trying to get into drawers.
"Shax, for the 9th time, stop getting into the medical equipment!" She tugged at her hair, clearly frazzled. "I didn't think I would be working with children in Starfleet." She mumbled under her breath.
T'ana was trying to trim her claws down, which were now growing at an increased rate. The bulkhead against her bead was scratched, metal shavings falling onto her pillows.
'Westlake better figure this out fast' she thought as pulled her senior officer from the wall.

Beckett
a ficlet kinda for @s-trip-tease hereâs a little something for you, Iâll upload to AO3 sometime or later, I decided to hold the more shippy fic because I decided to wait until thereâs some more established canon. Also the timeline on this a little off lol, TNG OOC too
Beckett remembers being a little girl of 8 years old visiting aboard the U.S.S Enterprise with her mom and dad. She got to meet so many officers who were already legends in their own right. It was one of the coolest things her parents had dragged her to and it made her want to be in Starfleet.
There was a party going on to celebrate the retirement of an admiral, her mother promised her that there would be other kids around to play with, but she was more interested in meeting the heroes of the ship.
However it was a little hard to do so when all of the adults were bigger than you and often just told you to go play, so she couldnât get a word in.She sulked in the corner until she heard a friendly voice.
âHello. I sense a bit of frustration from you.â A beautiful woman smiled down at little Becket and she knew who it was.
âYouâre Deanna Troi!â Beckett gasped, her little gap toothed mouth smiling widely.
âI am, and whatâs your name?â she asked her.
âBeckett! Iâm Beckett Mariner!â she hopped.
âWhat a cute name for a cute girl. I have a feeling you want to meet the bridge crew.â Deanna assumed.
âYes!â Beckett hopped again.
âOk, come with me.â Deanna led the small girl through the crowd of people and brought her up to a circle with a bunch of adults, some sitting some standing, but sitting right there in a chair was none other than Commander Riker.âCaptain Picard is off somewhere, but you can meet everyone else.â
âHey who is this?â one of the adults asked.
âThis is little Beckett Mariner.â Beckett walked up to them shyly.
One of her heroes, Commnder Riker waved. âAh Commander Mariner and Lt. Freemanâs daughter.â
âI wanna be like you all some day.â She said sweetly.
âI heard youâre a bit of a scamp, which is perfect to serve on the bridge.â Riker said lifting the girl into his lap. âYou wanna be a captain?â
âMmm, Daddy said heâs gonna be a captain some day too!â Beckett kicked her legs.
âIâm sure he will, one day I will be too. Whoâs ship will you serve on Daddyâs or Mine?â Riker asked.
âThatâs too hard a question!â Beckett answered honestly. The adults laughed at her, what a cute little girl.
That was 16 years ago and since then Beckettâs idolization of the high ranks had soured. She thought it would be filled with adventure like the days of Captain Kirk or Admiral Picard, but instead not everything was a kooky encounter, or a battle well won. In the 5 years sheâs served, at 24 years old sheâs seen so much shit that she no longer wants to anything to do with the heavy lifting. Sheâd rather make second contact, chill out and do her thing.
Sometimes she wakes up in nervous sweats, sometimes she canât sleep at night which is why sheâll nap in the day time, this only happens a couple times of week. Her parents donât know about the atrocities sheâs seen. They already treat her like a baby.
She has a love hate relationship with Star Fleet. She loves the adventure it offers, but not the psychological torture it brings. She loves being up in space traversing the stars. She canât keep still, she has to drain her âbatteryâ daily. She needs something to do which is why tedious task must become a game to fill the void of her no longer serving on any bridge crew or until sheâs allowed to help with a second contact. Beckett is whip smart, she went into the academy at 16 and was earning top marks, and her parents still donât know what the hell happened that she went from that to the projected lazy character she puts out. She knows sheâs a disappointmentâŠâŠ.
She hates that she was stuck in a cave that knew things that she now wish she didnât know. She has nightmares about her friendâs dying, about her mother and father dying. Sheâll lock herself in a room sometimes and she canât stop crying when the panicking starts. Thatâs rare.
Despite all of that, sheâs braver and bolder than people think, sheâs stronger than she gives herself credit for. Sheâs more often willing to run head on into a fight than she is scared. Her dealings and feelings towards Death is a two sided coin as well, sheâs scared for others, but not herself.
People incorrectly assume sheâs an asshole because she doesnât get too close sometimes or because she openly mocks the bridge crew. Good, she hopes they donât get too close, the higher ups that is. She does whatever to stay demoted.
She cares more than anyone knows, she cares about her adorably naive yet uptight know it all friend Bradward Boimler, her surrogate older brother Rutherford who gives the best hugs and listens to her about her problems with dating, until DâVana Tendi came along and she now gives the very best hugs and doesnât tell anyone about Beckettâs secret video playlist of beauty tutorials that she looks at when sheâs doing her hair. She cares about her parents, even if she makes them so mad they blow a fuse. She even cares about that stupid stupid shiny haired broad-shouldered jackass Commander Ransom.
Maybe one day sheâll be up to having responsibility again. Right now?........ Not now. Maybe never, she doesnât know. She feels like she canât part ways with Star Fleet, she knows itâs the only place thatâll give her what she needs. Her craving for adventure and mystery is so strong, nothing else satiates it. The great vast of the galaxies is her lover, and she loves to wake up in it.
One day sheâll figure out what she wants.
