“ten days?” adrien gasped, clutching at his chest like max had shot him. “you’ve been counting? that’s adorable, maxie. didn’t know you missed me that bad.” he bumped his shoulder into max’s as he passed, just hard enough to jostle. not quite enough to start a fight. yet. “you wound me. and here i thought we were bonded by our mutual disdain for the institution.” he spun away like a spurned lover in a victorian melodrama, arms thrown wide as he twirled straight into the path of a poor intern wheeling some equipment. without missing a beat, adrien sidestepped with a dancer’s grace, barely avoiding a collision, then turned back toward max with a grin that could’ve lit a small village — or burned it down. his movements were always a little too big for the space he occupied — half performance, half involuntary overflow. he perched dramatically on the back of a bench like a crow, legs crossed at the ankles, fingers drumming against his knee. his hands never stayed still, shoved in his pockets one second, running through his hair the next, gesturing wildly like he was building something invisible between them. max’s jabs rolled off him like water, but his eyes — dark and glittering with mischief — never left his friend’s face.
“i do like the sound of my own voice,” he admitted shamelessly, tilting his chin up. “it’s a very good voice. smooth. distinctive. you should hear how it sounds in the bedroom. all breathy and hoarse. you’d lose it, baby.” the boys had always been rough with each other, fighting each other since their youths, the definition of too much testosterone trapped in one room, jutting into each other's figure. adrien leaned in without warning, clapping both hands dramatically on max’s shoulders like he was about to deliver a speech. “but seriously, if you ever do lop your ear off, i’m keeping it. not because i care or anything — just for the aesthetic. something to hang from the rearview.” he didn’t flinch at the mention of his sister, nicolette — just narrowed his eyes slightly, lips twitching like he couldn’t decide whether to frown or smirk. “she talks about you constantly,” he deadpanned. “usually while she’s dry heaving. but i’m sure if you keep harassing her, she’ll file the restraining order under your name with the proper spelling this time.” he rose in one fluid movement, closing the distance again, all kinetic energy and irreverence. without asking, he stole max’s sunglasses from his shirt collar and shoved them onto his own face. “if you ever do grow a conscience,” he said, voice muffled by dramatic posing, “i’ll hold a small funeral for it. nothing fancy. just you, me, a candle, and a shovel.”
still, despite the bravado, there was affection beneath every sarcastic word, threaded in the way adrien hovered near max without fully leaning on him. in the angle of his body, always tilted toward the center of their shared gravity. he thrived on chaos — but max was the constant he kept returning to, orbiting like a star too arrogant to admit it needed light. he reached out without warning, slinging an arm around max’s shoulders in a lopsided, brotherly chokehold, all bony elbows and cocky warmth. “you’re lucky i keep you around,” he said, voice pitched low in that mock-sincere way he used when he was about to do something stupid. “no one else would tolerate that tragic attitude. or your face. or your taste in music.” and then, before max could wriggle free or retaliate, he leaned in and planted a loud, obnoxious kiss on the top of his head — more of a dare than affection, but still oddly affectionate, before releasing him with a flourish and dodging the inevitable shove with a grin that could start fires. “c’mon, maxie boy,” he said, already halfway out the door, waving a hand over his shoulder like a ringleader leading his favorite lion to the next disaster. “let’s go commit carbicide. i’m talking fries. hashbrowns. eggs. maybe pancakes if you’re good.” he didn’t look back, but his laughter echoed down the sidewalk like a fuse already lit. “but i’m still stealing off yours. tradition’s tradition, sweetheart.”

"  i’m  the  worst  student  in  existence?  "  max  echoed,  his  voice  dripping  with  theatrical  disbelief.  "  that’s  rich,  coming  from  the  guy  who  hasn’t  graced  the  doorstep  of  a  single  classroom  in…  "  max’s  words  dwindled  as  he  raised  a  hand  with  great  ceremony,  ticking  off  invisible  tallies  on  long,  expressive  fingers.  "  one,  two,  three,  four—ten  days. "  it  was,  without  a  doubt,  the  pot  calling  the  kettle  black.  maximo  himself  could  barely  lay  claim  to  better  habits.  though,  if  he  was  being  technically  honest,  he  had  managed  to  stumble  his  way  into  the  occasional  film  class.  the  ones  that  didn’t  require  the  indignity  of  waking  before  noon,  anyway.  his  fingers  absently  threaded  through  soft  curls  as  he  watched  adrien  spinning  about  with  such  frenetic  energy  that  max’s  head  started  to  swim,  despite  his  own  stillness.  every  grandiose  movement  made  him  ache  to  reach  out,  to  clamp  a  hand  over  his  friend’s  mouth,  to  haul  him  into  a  headlock  and  forcibly  anchor  him.  why  the  hell  was  he  so  goddamn  energetic?  perhaps  great  minds  misfire  in  the  same  direction  because  before  max  could  act,  adrien  closed  the  distance.  a  gangly  arm  slinging  itself  across  maximo’s  shoulders,  still  gesturing  and  flailing  like  he  was  conducting  some  mad  symphony.
"  sometimes  i  think  you  like  the  sound  of  your  own  voice too much,  "  the  older  of  the  two  muttered  dryly,  narrowing  his  eyes.  "  because  honestly,  what  the  fuck  are  you  even  on  about?  "  it  was  an  impossible  thing,  staying  mad  at  adrien.  even  now,  drunk,  tired,  and  verging  on  a  level  of  hunger  that  bordered  on  biblical  suffering.  he  found  laughter  bubbling  in  his  chest,  irrepressible,  helpless  against  the  gleam  of  manic  joy  in  adrien’s  eyes.  "  why  wait  until  she  calls  you  dramatic?  "  he  said,  grin  sharpening  into  something  wicked.  "  go  ahead  and  lop  off  your  ear  now.  grow  your  hair  out,  hide  the  evidence.  then  you  can  whip  it  out  like  a  party  trick  at  dinner.  "  it  was  a  grim  suggestion,  but  it  tickled  maximo  all  the  same.  "  i  know  a  guy,  "  he  added,  tone  maddeningly  casual.  "  could  probably  preserve  it  in  a  jar.  you  could  wear  it  around  your  neck.  real  conversation  starter!  "  adrien  was  beginning  to  peel  away  when  max  reaches  out  on  impulse,  callous  fingers  sinking  into  the  other’s  cheeks  with  exaggerated  fondness,  a  crooked  smirk  playing  on  his  lips.  "  speaking  of  your  sister,  "  maximo  purred,  winking  shamelessly  as  he  finally  let  his  friend  go,  "  has  she  mentioned  me  lately?  "  it  was  all  good  fun,  of  course.  adrien’s  sister  was  family—had  always  been  family. there was less than nothing between them.
but  max  found  a  particular  kind  of  sick  pleasure  in  poking  the  bear;  it  hardly  seemed  fair  for  adrien  to  be  the  only  one  who  got  to  have  his  fun.  "  for  the  record,  i  do  give  a  shit, "  max  said  loftily,  responding  to  some  half-forgotten  barb.  "  just  because  you’re  a  philistine  doesn’t  mean  the  rest  of  us  are.  "  he  was  being  contrarian  for  the  sake  of  being  contrarian.  nothing  in  the  exhibit  had  spoken  to  him  in  the  half  hour  they’d  be  aimlessly  wander,  but  agreeing  would  only  encourage  adrien's  worst  instincts,  and  max  simply  couldn’t  allow  that.  in  any  case,  he  was  glad  to  be  tugged  toward  the  exit,  the  stale  air  thick  with  the  mingling  scents  of  their  dueling  colognes,  the  continuings  of  a  headache  trailing  from  his  crown  to  bloom  just  behind  his  eyes.  "  i  think  we  both  know  i’m  very  good  at  sharing, "  he  said  over  his  shoulder  as  they  pushed  through  the  crowd,  voice  dripping  mock  sweetness.  "  but  we’re  ordering  two  plates  anyway,  you  greedy  little  bastard.  i  know  exactly  how  this  ends  otherwise.  "  which  was  typically  adrien  encroaching  on  max's  half  of  the  plate  until  everything  was  gone.

part 1 | masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Peace has never felt more profound. Wrapped in the quiet hush of evening, the cool hum of the air conditioner, and the soft duvet cocooning your body, the weight of the world loosens its grip. The storm of thoughts, the heaviness pressing against your ribs—it all quiets, dissolving into the stillness.
Only when left alone, surrendered to the depths of sleep, do you finally feel light. Free. At ease.
But of course, peace was never meant to last. Not when you agreed to this trip.
Three knocks at the door. A soft beep of the lock.
“Yn? Are you still sleeping?”
MC’s voice pulls you from the haze of slumber, gentle but insistent. The mattress dips slightly as she steps closer.
You groan, turning away from the sound, but she only huffs.
“It’s already seven. You haven’t eaten anything all day.” Concern laces her words as she reaches out, pressing the back of her hand against your forehead. A soft smile tugs at her lips. “You’re not burning up anymore.”
Blinking against the lingering blur of sleep, you rub your eyes, squinting up at her.
“Mhmm,” you mumble, barely coherent.
The tension in her shoulders eases at your response, the worry fading as a familiar brightness returns to her face.
“Here—eat.” She sets a bowl in your hands, warmth seeping through the ceramic. Steam rises, carrying the scent of something unmistakably familiar.
Dark green seaweed sways in golden broth, delicate strands floating between pieces of soft tofu.
Your brows furrow. “Where did you get this?”
“Caleb made it.” She grins. “He was adamant about you finishing every last drop, so you better eat up.”
The words settle heavily in your chest.
You know this dish.
It’s the same soup you once made for him when he was too sick to get out of bed, voice hoarse, fever clouding his mind. The same one he had groggily murmured was the best thing he had ever tasted.
The warmth of the memory seeps in before you can stop it.
Back then, his voice had been hoarse, barely above a whisper, thick with exhaustion.
“Caleb, you should eat.”
“Mmnh… not hungry…” He mumbled, shifting away from the dish in your hands, cheek pressed against the pillow.
You huffed, exasperated but unwilling to let him get away with it. “I promise it’ll make you feel better. Seaweed soups are the best for colds. Trust me.”
It took a few more tries to convince him. A few more weak protests before you had enough.
“Bzz, the airplane’s coming!” You guided the spoon toward his lips, making an exaggerated motion.
A smile flickered across his face, slow and lazy, before it stretched into something wider. “Pfft—Stop acting like I’m five!”
His laughter was bright, warm. It tugged at your heart in ways you didn’t want to admit.
“You’re acting like one, so I must treat you as one,” you countered, puffing your cheeks. “Now open up!”
His shoulders shook from suppressed giggles, but he relented, raising a mock defensive hand. “Okay, okay! Pfft—”
His laughter was cut off by a fit of coughs, his body curling in on itself slightly. Your expression immediately shifted, a deeper frown settling between your brows.
“Stop playing around. This is my secret recipe. It’ll stop you from starting another pandemic,” you scolded, pushing the spoon toward him again.
He groaned, but finally obeyed, letting the warmth of the soup settle in his mouth.
His eyes widened, lips parting in surprise.
“You weren’t joking,” he muttered, almost in awe. “This is really good.”
Fatigue seemed to lift slightly from his face, a softness settling in its place.
“See?” You huffed, victorious.
But then—his gaze softened in a way that made your heart skip a beat.
“Thank you, shortcake,” he murmured, reaching up with sluggish movements to ruffle your hair. His touch was light, absentminded. Familiar.
Your heart had tugged—just slightly.
Now, staring at the same soup, the warmth of the past curling in your chest like a ghost of something you no longer recognize, you swallow down whatever unspoken feeling rises in your throat.
“Well?” MC grins, nudging you. “Eat up before it gets cold.”
You hesitate, just for a moment, then lift the spoon to your lips.
It tastes the same.
And yet, somehow, it doesn’t.
You take another spoonful, swallowing the warmth down along with the lump in your throat.
MC, oblivious to the thoughts stirring in your head, plops down beside you, stretching her limbs dramatically.
“God, today was exhausting,” she groans, tilting her head back. “I swear, if I have to redo that crying scene one more time, I might actually start sobbing for real.”
You hum absentmindedly, stirring the soup with your spoon.
“And Caleb—ugh, don’t get me started on him. He seemed really out of it today.” she continues, rolling onto her side to face you. “Like, he kept missing his queues, kept dazing in the middle of the shoot. Kept asking me if you ate, made me go shop for the soup’s ingredients with him, double-check the soup, even told me it was your favorite like I didn’t already know that.”
Your hand stills over the bowl.
MC doesn’t notice.
She sighs dramatically, propping her head up with one hand. “He even snapped at me earlier. Like, Caleb snapped at me. Can you believe that?”
You glance at her, arching a brow. “What did he say?”
She huffs. “I was teasing him, you know? Asking if he’s finally realizing he’s in love with you or whatever. And he just looked at me—like, seriously looked at me—and said, ‘She’s sick, Michaela.’ Like, what?”
Something sharp presses against your chest, but you don’t acknowledge it.
MC groans again, stretching her arms before flopping back onto the bed. “I get it, though,” she sighs, rolling onto her side to face you. Then, without warning, she grabs your hand, squeezing it tightly.
“I was worried sick about you too, Yn.” Her voice softens, the teasing gone. “Don’t go fainting like that again, okay? You gotta tell me if you’re too tired. I need you to be okay.”
You stare at her, her fingers warm against yours, grounding you in a way nothing else has. The weight in your chest—the anger, the ache that’s been gnawing at you since this trip began—fades, just a little.
Because this is MC.
Bright, infuriating, golden MC, who always means it when she says she cares.
And you love her for it.
You love her.
You always have.
So despite everything—despite the storm in your chest, despite the way the world has been tilting under your feet—you smile.
“Yeah,” you murmur, squeezing her hand back. “I know.”
Her lips curl into a grin, her eyes gleaming like the sun itself. And just like that, just for a second, the world feels a little lighter.
“Anyways, enough about that. You need to catch up on all the drama you missed today. And—”
She launches into a rant, animated as ever, filling the room with stories of the ‘earth-shattering’ events you somehow survived without.
Somewhere between her exaggerated retellings and her scandalized gasps, you find yourself laughing.
And just like that, the fatigue melts away.
You only realize you’ve finished the soup when MC casually plucks the empty bowl from your hands, setting it on the table without missing a beat.
She keeps talking, her words tumbling out in a steady, animated stream—until they don’t.
You notice it immediately.
The slight stutter. The way her voice falters mid-sentence. The way her fingers suddenly fidget with the loose threads of the blanket. The way a soft, barely-there pink dusts her cheeks.
Your brows furrow slightly. “MC?”
She clears her throat, forcing a casual laugh. “Sorry, I just—uh—” she waves a hand, trying to dismiss whatever just flustered her, but you catch it. You always catch it.
The way her lips press together. The way her eyes flicker away, focusing anywhere but you.
Suspicion creeps in. “What?”
“Nothing.”
“MC.”
She groans dramatically, covering her face with her hands before peeking through her fingers, her voice dropping ever so slightly.
“It’s just—I was practicing lines with Sylus today, and—”
She hesitates, the words caught somewhere between reluctance and amusement.
Your brows lift.
Sylus?
Of course, you know he’s popular. You’ve seen the way girls linger around him, how they find excuses to talk to him. But MC?
Your lips part slightly, but before you can say anything, something else creeps in—unbidden.
The warmth of his body on the tip of your fingers.
The sharp scent of rain clinging to his skin.
The steady grip of his hand, pulling you away from the storm.
The way he leaned against the wall, damp silver strands falling over his eyes, a towel draped over his shoulders, sharp and unbothered.
The quiet turn of a page, his presence steady, grounding, when everything else felt like it was slipping through your fingers.
You swallow.
The memories pass in a flash, leaving behind something you don’t quite understand.
MC doesn’t notice your silence. She groans again, shaking her head.
“Ugh, never mind. It’s not a big deal,” she mutters, but there’s a warmth on her face she can’t quite hide.
Your lips twitch.
“Oh my god,” you gasp dramatically, eyes widening as you lean in closer. “Are you blushing?”
MC swats at you with a pillow, groaning into her hands. “I said never mind!”
That only makes your grin widen.
“No, no, this is important information,” you tease, nudging her shoulder. “MC, do you have a crush on Sylus?”
She groans even louder, flopping onto the bed in defeat.
“Shut up, Yn. My character has a crush on his character. I’m just way too immersed in the acting!”
You laugh, the sound light, genuine.
The next few days go by like a blur.
You wake up to MC’s blaring alarm.
You get ready.
You practice your part.
You film.
You watch MC film.
You watch her cheeks flush a little more in scenes she shares with Sylus.
You watch their characters develop.
You eat.
You listen to her rants.
You enjoy the sunset, alone.
You sleep.
Like clockwork, everything plays out like it did yesterday.
And just like everything else, he is on replay, too.
His voice weaves itself into your routine, persistent and unrelenting. A teasing remark over breakfast. A lazy greeting when he passes by. A nudge here, a comment there. Always casual. Always acting as if nothing happened.
“Still mad, shortcake?”
“Damn, I didn’t know you had this much endurance. Impressive.”
“Let me make it up to you.”
You don’t respond.
“Was today tiring?”
You don’t acknowledge him.
“Are you hungry?”
You don’t even look at him.
“Someone’s making a full-time career out of dodging me.”
It’s almost comical, how hard he’s trying to act like things are fine. Like you didn’t stand there, glaring at him with every ounce of anger you could muster just a few nights ago. Like you weren’t left in the rain, stranded in a memory of him choosing her, again.
But that’s Caleb. Always brushing things off, playing it cool, making it seem like nothing ever really matters.
And maybe if you weren’t still seething, it would’ve worked.
And to an extent, maybe it has.
Because the desperation in his eyes seems to seep out a little more with every interaction.
And when he leans a little too close one afternoon, when his fingers brush against your wrist as he tries to catch your attention, your heart still skips. But the scene of that night haunts you. The line cutting, her laughter, his tender eyes looking at her. So you snatch your hand away, sharp and final.
The laughter in his eyes dims, if only for a second.
“Damn. Harsh.” His playful tone faltering a little.
You don’t answer.
And after each of these interactions, your eyes always somehow find its way to the man lingering on the side. And more often than not, you meet his gaze. His ruby eyes pierces through you with a smug smirk plastered on his face.
Oh how much you hate that smug face of his.
It’s a look that says he’s watching. That he’s amused.
Like you’re the most interesting thing in the room. Like he already knows how this game ends.
You tear your gaze away, but it’s too late. That smirk is already burned into your mind, curling at the edges of your thoughts, creeping under your skin.
Sylus never says much. He lingers—always just far enough to be uninvolved, yet close enough to witness everything.
Though every single time, he holds your gaze just long enough to let you know that he sees you.
And maybe that should feel comforting.
Maybe it should make you feel like you’re finally being seen.
But with him—with the way his eyes glint like he’s one step ahead, like he’s entertained by something you don’t even understand yet—
it doesn’t feel like comfort.
It feels like a warning.
“Hey! Can someone grab more drinks?”
“On it!” you shout.
Being done with all of your scenes, you try to help out around the set where you can. You walk away from the beach and to the parking lot where the tents and coolers are set under the trees’ shades. The bickers and chatters fade into the heat as you approach the swaying canopy. The air is heavier here—thicker, still carrying the scent of salt and sunscreen but now mixed with the plasticky cool of stored ice.
You crouch by one of the coolers, popping the lid open, letting a gust of chilled air wash over your arms.
The silence here is different.
Less alive, less buzzing.
You should be relieved.
But instead, all you can hear is the echo of their voices.
“She’s pretty good at acting,” someone says.
“She does her job well,” another agrees.
“We should’ve given her another role. She could’ve pulled off a character with more significance.”
“Nah, I don’t think so. She acts well, but she doesn’t shine. Not like her.”
You exhale, pressing your lips together.
Something inside you tenses.
The other laughs in response. “Of course, I wasn’t comparing her to Machela. Their auras are very different. One’s the main character, the other’s a decent supporting. You can’t compare them.”
Your brows knit together.
You keep your hands still, your breath steady. You don’t react, don’t turn, don’t acknowledge the way the words settle against your skin like grains of sand—light and fleeting, but impossible to shake off
It’s fine. It doesn’t matter.
They’re just opinions, just talk.
You don’t care. You’ve never cared.
You know your role. You know your place.
And yet—your gaze betrays you.
Before you can stop yourself, your eyes flicker to the beach, to her.
MC stands effortlessly at the center of it all, bathed in the golden afternoon light, surrounded by the main characters, the ones who make the scene come alive.
Even among them, she stands out.
She doesn’t try to shine, she doesn’t try to call for attention—she just does.
And then there’s you, just there.
Blending so well into the background that no one even notices you listening.
You swallow, pushing away the uncomfortable weight creeping up your throat.
A breeze stirs the trees, making the tents flutter. You reach into the ice, grabbing a handful of cans, the cold biting against your fingertips.
You exhale, force your shoulders to relax, and do what you always do.
You shake it off. You move.
You quickly grab as many drinks as you can hold and hurry back to the set.
“Who wants water?” Your voice bright, easy.
You step back onto the sand, the heat pressing down on your skin, the voices of the crew and cast swelling around you once more. The coolness of the shade lingers faintly on your fingertips, already fading as you carry the drinks back.
But the words silently follow your trails.
“Oh my god, you’re a life saver!”
MC’s voice snaps you out of it as she practically lunges for one of the cans in your hands, tearing it open like she’s been stranded on this beach for days. She presses it to her cheek, sighing dramatically.
“I’m dying,” she groans, tipping her head back for a long gulp. “Why did I agree to film on a beach? Who thought this was a good idea?”
Before you can answer, another shadow falls over you.
A shift in the air. A presence that arrives so smoothly, so effortlessly, that you don’t even notice until he’s already there.
Sylus.
He reaches out and plucks a drink from your hand, slow and deliberate, fingers brushing the condensation-slick surface.
Then—he opens it.
The sound is sharp against the hazy heat, a crisp hiss that barely lingers before he tips the can back.
And you watch.
The way his throat moves as he drinks, slow and deep, his Adam’s apple bobbing with each swallow. The way a bead of sweat drips from his temple, trailing down the sharp line of his jaw, catching in the dip of his collarbone before disappearing beneath his shirt.
For a second, the world feels too slow.
When he lowers the can, he’s already looking at you.
“What?” he says, voice smooth, amused, a smirk tugging lazily at his lips. “Not for me?”
Your face immediately scrunches up.
Not a word leaves your mouth, but the reaction is enough.
Sylus chuckles, taking another sip like he’s entertained by something only he understands.
Then, just as effortlessly as he arrived, he turns and walks off, the warm breeze ruffling through his hair, leaving behind nothing but the faintest trace of cool metal and salt air.
Silence settles between you and MC.
It takes you a second to notice it—the fact that she hasn’t moved, hasn’t said a word.
You glance at her. The red dusting her face. The way she presses her lips together, eyes darting everywhere but where Sylus just stood.
Something tugs at your chest.
A feeling—small, unclear, curling at the edges of your ribs like an itch you can’t quite scratch.
You don’t exactly understand it, nor do you want to.
So you push it down, bury it deep, shove it away before it can take shape.
“Oh,” you hum, forcing a smirk on your lips.
MC immediately stiffens. “No.”
“Ohhh.”
“No, no, no!” She flails her hands in front of her face like she can physically push the accusation away.
“You’re blushing.”
“I am not!”
“You totally are.”
She lets out a strangled noise, shaking her head so fast her hair whips around her shoulders. “I—I’m not crushing!” she wails, throwing her hands up. “I’m just—ugh, it’s the next scene, okay?!”
You pause.
The next scene.
The kiss scene.
With Sylus.
You blink, then grin. “That’s what you’re nervous about?”
MC groans, dragging a hand down her face. “He’s so annoying,” she grumbles. “How am I supposed to do this with someone who just—oozes arrogance?” She gulps down the drink in her hands, turning away.
“Try not to melt, yeah? Would be real awkward if the crew had to scrape you off the floor after this.” A playful voice interrupts your conversation.
Caleb.
He strides toward the two of you, effortless as always, plucking a can from your hands and popping it open with a crisp hiss. His smirk is there—light, teasing, the same one he always wears when he’s messing around.
But it doesn’t quite reach his eyes.
His gaze flicks to the spot where Sylus had just been.
Something in his jaw tightens.
Others might have missed it, but you know him too well. You’re well too accustomed to watching him, seeing all his micro movements when he interacts with MC.
His fingers curl just a little too tightly around the can, knuckles faintly stiff.
Still, he plays it off.
“So,” he drawls, turning back to MC, forcing that smirk back into place. “How long are you gonna make us suffer through this? You practicing, or are we just skipping to the part where you swoon?”
MC snaps to attention, the red still fresh on her face. “I don’t—shut up.”
Caleb clicks his tongue, mockingly thoughtful. “Huh. So defensive. Makes you wonder.”
“You wonder too much,” she fires back, narrowing her eyes.
“Nah,” he grins, taking a slow sip of his drink. “I just have an eye for lost causes.”
And then, before she can dodge, he presses the cold can against her cheek.
MC yelps, jerking away. “Caleb—what the hell!”
“Thought you were overheating,” he muses, completely unbothered. “Wouldn’t want you fainting before the big scene.”
MC glares, rubbing at her cheek like he’s personally offended her. “You’re the worst.”
“And yet,” he sighs, shaking his head. “Still a better option than him.”
MC groans. “Are you seriously insulting Sylus right now?”
“I’m just saying,” Caleb shrugs, casual. “The guy looks like he bites.”
“You’re so dramatic.”
“And you’re gonna let him lick your face in front of all of us.”
“It’s a kiss, you idiot—”
“Same difference.”
Before MC can strangle him, the director’s voice cuts through the chatter.
“Alright, places, everyone! Let’s run the scene.”
MC freezes.
The teasing dies.
Caleb hums. “Uh-oh. That’s your cue.”
She exhales sharply, smoothing down her clothes like that’ll somehow fix her nerves.
“Don’t overthink it,” he says lightly, taking another sip. “It’s just a scene, right?”
MC glares at him, muttering something under her breath before stomping toward the set.
His eyes follow her form, watching her go.
Caleb’s smirk lingers, but it’s hollow now—more muscle memory than anything else.
Then, without a word, he crushes the empty can in his fist.
You don’t say anything.
You just stand there, staring at the crumpled metal in his hand, feeling the weight of everything he isn’t saying.
The sharp crunch of aluminum still lingers in the air when you finally take a step back, about to turn away—
But before you can, his hand grabs your wrist.
Firm. Unrelenting.
Your breath catches.
“Come here,” he mutters, low, rough, before pulling you with him.
You barely have time to react before you’re being led away from the crowd, past the chatter, past the cameras and the blinding sun.
He doesn’t stop until you’re tucked into the shadows of a secluded corner, hidden behind a wall where no one can see.
Only then does he let go.
Only then does he turn to you, dark eyes burning with something too raw, too intense.
“How long are you going to keep this up?” he asks.
The words hit the air, heavier than they should be.
You blink. “What—”
“I’m sorry, okay?” His voice is frustrated, breath uneven. “I know I messed up. I should’ve paid more attention. I should’ve—”
He stops himself, exhaling sharply, dragging a hand through his hair like he’s barely holding something together.
Then, before you can move—
His hands press against the wall, caging you in.
Not touching you. But close.
Too close.
His scent fills your senses—something warm, sharp, unmistakably him.
“You can’t convince yourself to hate me with every fiber of your being, wouldn’t you agree?” he murmurs, voice quieter now, but no less desperate. “I’ll eventually find a way to make things right. As long as…” he pauses. His breaths are shuddering.
Your heart stutters.
“You’re by my side,” he whispers.
His eyes flicker over your face, searching, waiting—
And then, softer, rougher—
“Please.”
A breath.
“I need you now more than ever.”
The words sink into your skin, settle into your chest, and God—
It hurts.
Because you know.
You know this isn’t about you.
Not really.
Not in the way you want it to be.
He’s frustrated. He’s angry. Not at you—but at something else, at someone else, at the way things are slipping through his fingers.
And here you are.
Pulled into the scene like always.
Here to fill in the gaps.
Here to be the character he needs in this moment.
Your throat tightens.
Your fingers curl into fists.
You don’t shove him away.
You don’t give in, either.
You just look at him.
At the tension in his jaw. At the way his chest rises and falls just a little too fast.
“Action!”
The director’s voice rings out.
Like a snapped thread, Caleb pulls away.
Your attention shifts
And you see it.
The perfect scene unfolding before you.
The setting sun drenches the world in gold, soft and warm, casting a glow over the sand, the ocean, the two figures at the center of it all.
MC and Sylus.
MC in the center, like always.
Sylus’s hands rest on her waist, firm but careful. His fingers trace along the curve of her back, pulling her closer, into him, into his world. His head tilts, his smirk faint, unreadable—like he’s in control of every beat of this moment.
MC leans in.
Slow, hesitant, shy.
Like a girl falling into the gravity of a man she can’t escape.
The light catches the soft parting of her lips, the uncertainty, the delicate trust in her expression.
Sylus’s fingers tighten, and he closes the distance.
Their lips brush—light at first—before she melts into him, hands lifting to his chest.
It’s effortless.
Beautiful.
The kind of moment people will remember.
The picture-perfect romance.
A story falling into place.
Your stomach twists.
It’s not the kiss itself that gets to you. It’s the way the scene feels like fate, the way it’s framed, the way the world seems to bend itself around her like she was always meant to be at the center.
Like everything happens for her.
And, as if to prove your point—you gaze shifts.
And you see Caleb.
He’s watching the scene.
Watching her.
His breaths are coming even more uneven than before.
Not obvious, not noticeable to most.
But, caged between his arms, you see it.
The way his chest rises just a little too fast, the way his fingers flex and release at his sides, the way his jaw locks so tightly you swear he might break something.
And your chest burns more than ever.
You hate it. You hate everything about this.
You hate how, no matter what happens—this world, this story, this entire thing, bends itself around her.
That all of you—you, Caleb, and even Sylus— are just pieces in the grand design of her narrative.
That no matter where you stand, no matter what you do—
MC is the one the light falls on.
She is the one everything happens for.
She is the one whose all her wishes come true.
You hate it. You hate how you’re just here.
Always here.
Always playing a role in someone else’s story.
And you hate it most that your eyes are turning green looking at her.
That the jealousy creeping up your throat, curling tight in your chest, isn’t just about the scene or the way Sylus or Caleb seem to orbit around her.
It’s about the way the world chooses her, time and time again.
And the fact that you’re bitter about it—
That you feel this way at all—
God, you hate it.
“You don’t need me, Caleb.” your voice much weaker than you want it to be.
You push him out, and quickly turn away, walking off, leaving the beach, the golden sunset, the picture-perfect scene.
And if Caleb calls after you—you don’t hear it.
You don’t want to.
The night air presses against your skin, cool but not enough. Not enough to wash away the tension in your chest, not enough to erase the way your own voice had echoed back at you—
The long walk you took should’ve made you feel lighter.
You should feel relieved.
But you don’t.
Instead, the weight follows you, pressing against your ribs with every step, every breath, every slow drag of the tide pulling at the shore. The muffled sounds of the set fade behind you, swallowed by the darkness of the beach.
Only when you get closer to the resort do you start hearing the music.
It starts as a distant thrum, pulsing faintly through the heavy night air. A low bassline reverberating from somewhere ahead, blending with the sound of crashing waves. It takes a second to register, for your feet to slow, for the familiar heat of it to sink in.
The afterparty.
It’s inside the main house, a sprawling beachfront villa that serves as the cast and crew’s retreat after long filming days. The windows glow golden and inviting, the silhouette of moving bodies visible through the sheer curtains.
You hover near the doorway.
Inside, the world is warmer, hazier, looser.
The weight of the evening still sits heavy on your shoulders, but no one else seems to notice. No one else cares.
People are sprawled across couches, tucked into booths, pressed against walls, drinks in hand, faces flushed from alcohol and laughter. The lighting is low, a mixture of dim lamps and fairy lights strung along the ceiling, flickering against the glass like trapped fireflies. The scent of spilled liquor, cheap cologne, and the lingering trace of bonfire smoke fills the air.
MC is somewhere in the center of it all.
You see her immediately.
Perched on the arm of a couch, grinning, draped in warmth and attention, her head tilting back in laughter as someone hands her another drink. She looks effortless, as if the day never happened, as if the weight of the scene she filmed with Sylus didn’t still cling to her like it does to you.
She glows.
Like she always does.
And for the first time, you don’t want to be anywhere near her.
Not tonight.
You turn away, slipping past the clusters of people, past the thrumming energy, and find a quiet corner.
A small table sits against the wall, lined with bottles, a stack of plastic cups haphazardly placed beside them.
You grab one.
Then a bottle.
The first drink goes down too fast. The second burns, but you barely react. The third is easier, a slow warmth spreading through your limbs, seeping into your fingers, dulling the sharp edges of your thoughts.
You lean back against the wall, fingers wrapped loosely around the cup, and watch as the night moves on without you.
MC is spinning, giggling, spilling half her drink as she sways to the music. Someone reaches for her waist, catching her just before she loses her balance. Caleb.
He’s there, as always.
Steadying her, teasing her, watching her.
You tip your cup back, draining the rest of your drink.
The music swells, the bass thrumming against your skin. The alcohol curls deeper into your system, warm and heady, numbing the part of you that still feels too present, too aware.
You don’t want to be aware.
You just want to sit here in this corner, where no one is watching, where no one is expecting anything from you.
And for a while, you do.
Drink after drink, until the night feels softer at the edges, until the sound of laughter no longer feels like it belongs to a world you can’t touch.
But then, a loud clap pierces through the room and the music lowers.
The music lowers.
“Alright, listen up! It’s time to bring some romance to life!”
The energy shifts.
People perk up, some groaning, some cheering, all of them gravitating toward the center of the room.
You barely react, swirling the last bit of alcohol in your cup.
But then, you hear it.
“Seven minutes in heaven, baby! Who’s in?”
Your fingers tighten around your drink.
MC perks up immediately, eyes gleaming with the kind of reckless excitement that only comes with being several drinks in.
Caleb groans, rolling his eyes, but he’s grinning.
Meanwhile, you simply sigh as your gaze falls back to the cup in your hand.
Because of course it’s this.
Of course this night, like everything else, will find a way to make her the center of it.
“We’re going to spice things up a little bit,” someone announces over the music, their voice dripping with amusement. A cup filled with rolled-up pieces of paper rattles in their hands as they shake it for emphasis.
“Instead of randomly drawing two names, only one name will be called.”
A pause. Anticipation thickens the air, curious murmurs rippling through the crowd.
The person smirks. “Once that name is called, you’ll be given ten seconds to either volunteer yourself or—” they tilt the cup teasingly, “your friend to be their partner.”
A wave of excitement rolls through the room. Some people cheer, some groan, some exchange knowing glances. A few shove their friends forward, already laughing at the thought of throwing them into the game.
The first name is drawn.
Someone calls it out, and there’s a brief, charged pause before someone steps forward, dramatically throwing their hands up. The crowd erupts as they disappear behind the door, laughter and wolf whistles chasing after them.
Then another name.
And another.
Each round follows the same pattern—a pause, then cheering, then the shuffle of two people slipping into the closet.
Some stumble back out minutes later, flushed and breathless, met with hollers and teasing. Others laugh it off, shaking their heads, grinning like they’ve just escaped something ridiculous.
The alcohol, the music, the flickering lights—everything feels looser, bolder, dipping further into recklessness with each passing round.
People egg each other on, nudging shoulders, calling out names before they’re even drawn, spurring the night forward like a challenge.
And then—
Another name is pulled.
The voice rings loud over the noise.
And your heart stops.
“Yn!”
Heads turn. Conversations pause. A slow wave of curiosity and anticipation ripples through the crowd as people glance around, searching for you.
“There she is!”
A pair of hands grab your wrist before you can even think about running.
Laughter spills around you as you’re dragged through the throng of people, the heat of bodies pressing in from all sides. Your pulse spikes, the alcohol in your system making everything feel sluggish yet sharp all at once—like you’re wading through a dream you can’t control.
They stop right in front of the closet.
Someone swings an arm over your shoulders, grinning.
“Sooo,” they drawl, their voice dripping with mischief, “who’d like to partner up with her?”
A beat of silence follows.
A moment—thick, expectant.
And then—
The crowd parts.
The shift is subtle at first, a presence cutting through the sea of bodies, slow, unhurried, inevitable.
Then you see him.
He steps forward with the kind of effortless confidence that demands attention—shoulders relaxed, hands tucked into the pockets of his fitted black slacks, the faintest smirk curling at his lips.
The room reacts before you do.
A low hum of interest, a few knowing whistles, someone muttering “Oh, shit.”
And God, does he know what he’s doing.
His stride is measured, each step slow and deliberate, the kind that makes you feel like he’s taking his time just to make a statement. The dim lighting casts sharp shadows along his jawline, highlighting the sculpted edges of his face—the messily tousled silver hair, the piercing crimson eyes that lock onto yours like a brand.
He doesn’t blink.
Doesn’t waver.
Just watches you as he approaches, like he’s already decided—like this was never even up for discussion.
Then, finally—
He stops right in front of you.
Too close.
The warmth of him seeps into the space between you, a contrast to the cool scent of his cologne—something crisp, dark, dangerous in a way that makes your stomach twist.
He tilts his head, the movement slow, teasing.
“What?” his voice is smooth, low enough that only you can hear. “Not for me?”
The words slam into you like a punch to the gut—because he knows exactly what he’s doing, and he’s enjoying every second of it.
The room erupts around you, people whooping, clapping, some downright losing their minds over the fact that Sylus fucking Qin just stepped forward for this game.
You swallow.
Your fingers twitch at your sides. Your pulse spikes, heat curling at the edges of your skin—not just from the alcohol, not just from the intensity of his gaze, but from the sheer presence of him.
Your eyes flicker around the room, anxious of all the cheering going on. Though, it lands on her. On MC.
Your breath catches.
She is staring. Not laughing. Not cheering like the others.
And for the first time tonight, she looks shocked.
Like this wasn’t supposed to happen.
Like this wasn’t part of the story she had in her head.
Your stomach twists, heat creeping up your spine.
However, you were quickly pulled out of your daze when someone claps you on the back, pushing you forward.
The crowd cheers louder and the closet door swings open.
Darkness yawns before you.
Sylus steps forward first, his hand brushing against your lower back as he guides you inside. Casual. Effortless. Like he’s done this before. Like he’s leading you somewhere only he understands.
The door clicks shut.
And the world is swallowed whole.
The music, the voices, the party—it all fades, muffled by the thick wooden walls, leaving only this.
Only him.
Your breath comes uneven, your pulse a heavy drumbeat in your ears, because suddenly, the space around you feels too small. The darkness presses in from all sides, thick and stifling, and the only thing clouding your senses—
Is him.
Sylus leans back against the door, his presence unshakable, his scent thick in the air.
Woody. Dark. A hint of spice laced with something richer, smokier.
Cigar musk and worn leather. Something dangerously smooth, something that lingers.
You can’t see him, but you feel him.
Feel the warmth of his body just inches away. Feel the gravity of him, the way he takes up space without even trying.
The realization of your positions slams into you, sharp and sudden, sending heat curling through your stomach.
You take a step back, but there’s nowhere to go—the closet is too small, too tight, too suffocatingly intimate.
A chuckle. Low, amused, sinful.
“Already nervous?” His voice is pure velvet, thick with the kind of arrogance that makes your stomach tighten.
You swallow, your fingers twitching at your sides.
“I’m not nervous.”
“Mm.” He hums, unconvinced.
The air between you is loaded, heavy, charged with something you don’t know how to name.
And then—
A shift.
A quiet creak of leather. A faint rustle of fabric.
He moves.
Closer.
You don’t even hear him step forward, don’t see him in the thick darkness—but you feel it. The way the space tightens. The way his heat licks at your skin, close enough to touch.
Close enough that if you just reached out—
A warm breath skims along your jaw.
You freeze.
Not touching. Not yet. But so close it doesn’t even matter.
Your own breath hitches, and that’s when you feel it—
His smirk.
You can’t see it. But you can feel it.
The way the air shifts between you, the way the silence stretches, the way his head tilts just slightly, like he’s waiting.
Like he’s playing with his food.
The muscles in your stomach tighten.
“You’re quiet,” he murmurs, voice dipping even lower, more intimate, like a secret meant only for you. “Not used to being this close to me?”
Your fingers curl into fists, nails biting into your palms.
And God, you hate him for this.
For the way he gets under your skin without even trying.
For the way he makes you feel like you’re standing on the edge of something dangerous, something uncontrollable, something that might swallow you whole if you let it.
The air between you is charged, electric, the kind of tension that makes your skin feel too hot, too tight.
A low chuckle erupts from his chest, its vibrations reaching yours. He leans down towards your ear, his breath tickling your skin.
“Use me.”
The words hit the air like a match against gasoline.
Your breath catches.
A smirk curves against the dark. He knows.
Of course he knows.
“Use me to make him jealous.”
Your stomach tightens, heat spreading through your limbs like liquid fire.
You swallow. “That’s—”
“That’s what you want, isn’t it?” His voice dips lower, a soft, taunting hum, stepping closer, just enough that you catch the faintest trace of clean linen and something sharp beneath it.
You hate that your pulse spikes.
You hate that he’s right.
You hate how easily he gets under your skin, how effortlessly he peels you open without even touching you.
You part your lips to deny it, but—
“Or,” he muses, tilting his head slightly, voice edged with something wicked, something dangerous, something that makes your knees feel weak—
“If you’d rather make it more interesting…”
A pause. A shift. A fraction of movement, barely there—
But you feel it.
The brush of his breath against your skin, the slow, unbearable closeness.
“…Use me to make her jealous.”
Your breath stutters.
He sees it.
He feels it.
And the slow, lazy smirk that tugs at his lips—it’s lethal.
Like he’s already won.
Like he knows exactly what buttons he’s pushing.
Like he’s daring you to say yes.
Your fingers curl into fists. Heat rolls beneath your skin, something dangerous, something reckless.
You should tell him to fuck off.
You should shove him away.
You should—
But you don’t.
Because in this moment, in this dark, stifling space—
You don’t know what you want more.
To prove him wrong.
Or to let him be right.
Perhaps it’s the pain you’ve been swallowing for months, the way it’s settled deep in your ribs, pressing against your lungs like a bruise that refuses to fade.
Perhaps it’s the alcohol, heavy in your bloodstream, loosening your grip on restraint, making you weak to the things you never let yourself touch.
Or maybe—maybe—it’s the way your stomach twists at the memory of her face.
MC’s wide, stunned eyes. The sharp sting of betrayal flashing across her features.
And as much as you hate it, as much as that look should send you crumbling—
Some twisted part of you puffs.
Some part of you, buried beneath layers of resentment, self-doubt, and the endless role of being cast in the background, thrives on it.
Because for once—for once—she is not the one standing in the center of the world.
For once, you have something she doesn’t.
And maybe it’s wrong. Maybe you’ll hate yourself for this later.
But right now—right now—
The weight of Sylus’s heat against you, the scent of smoke and clean linen and something sharp curling into your senses, pressing into the empty spaces inside you—
It’s stopping you from thinking straight.
And when his lips part, when his breath brushes over your skin, when the last thread of tension pulls taut between you—
You stop thinking altogether.
Because before you can second-guess yourself—
You grab him.
Fingers curling into the fabric of his shirt, yanking him down, crashing into him like you’ve lost control of gravity itself.
Heat.
Pressure.
It is all you can feel.
His lips crash against yours, and everything ignites.
Your lips slowly move, and his follow suit. You can feel the smirk on his lips.
That damned smirk.
But your mind is wiped clean as soon as he tilts his head, the kiss turning hungrier. The tension builds, unraveling into something desperate, something heavy, something neither of you have the willpower to stop anymore.
Sylus lets out a low, dark chuckle against your mouth, but you swallow it whole.
He recovers quickly—of course he does—because the moment you give in, he’s already taking.
His hands slam against the wall behind you, pinning you between him and nothing else, his body pressing in, heat bleeding through his clothes and onto your skin.
The kiss is rough, deliberate, his lips moving against yours with slow precision, dragging, teasing, tasting.
Like he’s memorizing you.
Like he’s proving a point.
Your breath shudders when he bites, just enough to sting, just enough to make your knees buckle.
You hate that he knows exactly what he’s doing.
Hate that he’s making you melt so easily.
Your nails dig into his shoulders, gripping him tight, using it as leverage when you press your body flush against his.
A sharp inhale from him.
A brief pause.
His fingers dive into your hair, twisting, tugging, tilting your head back as his mouth slants over yours, harder this time.
Deeper.
His other hand slides down, skimming over your ribs, tracing heat into your skin through your clothes before settling at your waist.
Firm. Possessive.
You don’t even realize you’ve been backing up until your back hits the closet wall and he presses in, caging you there, forcing you to feel every inch of him.
Your head spins.
The alcohol, the heat, the weight of him—it’s too much. But not enough.
A low groan rumbles deep in his chest when you tug at his hair, nails raking lightly against his scalp.
And then, his lips break away from yours—just barely, just enough to breathe against your mouth, the ghost of a smirk tugging at his swollen lips.
“Didn’t know you had it in you,” he murmurs, voice thick, husky, laced with something dangerous.
You exhale, your own lips tingling, your chest rising and falling too fast.
“Shut up.”
His teeth flash in the dimness, his breath hot against your lips.
Your grip tightens on his shirt, but it does nothing to steady you.
Sylus moves slowly—deliberate, like he’s savoring this moment, like he has all the time in the world to watch you unravel.
His hands dip beneath your shirt, fingers curling against your waist, his touch cool against the heat of your skin.
You shudder, a sharp inhale betraying you as his fingers start to move—slow, teasing strokes, tracing along the sensitive dip of your spine, mapping you out like he’s memorizing you by touch alone.
His mouth hovers just over yours, his breath fanning against your lips, his smirk felt more than seen in the heavy darkness.
“You’re shaking,” he murmurs, voice a low hum of amusement, his fingers pressing just slightly harder into your waist.
You bite your lip, hating the way your body responds to him, the way his touch burns through the fabric of your self-control.
“I’m not shaking.”
Sylus laughs, a deep, satisfied sound, his grip flexing slightly—his thumbs skimming just beneath the curve of your ribs, fingertips lingering dangerously close to places they shouldn’t be.
“Sure,” he muses, tilting his head. “Keep telling yourself that.”
Then—he shifts.
A slow, taunting drag of his mouth, skimming along the curve of your jaw, down to the edge of your throat.
You swallow hard, your pulse thundering beneath his lips.
“You still thinking about them?” he murmurs, voice dropping into something dark, coaxing, his fingers spreading wider, pressing into the dip of your lower back, pulling you flush against him.
The sharp heat of his body bleeds through your clothes, overwhelming, intoxicating, making it impossible to focus on anything other than him.
His mouth brushes against your neck—just barely, just enough—and a low, approving hum vibrates from his chest when he feels your breath catch.
“Good,” he whispers, voice dark with satisfaction.
His hands trail higher, warmer, slipping beneath the fabric of your shirt, his touch searing against your bare skin.
His fingers splay over the curve of your spine, pressing in just enough to make you arch, just enough to remind you that he has full control of this moment.
“You know,” he murmurs, lips grazing against your throat, voice thick with amusement, “when I said to use me…”
His hands continue their slow ascent, fingertips tracing along the delicate line of your ribs, slipping under the thin strap of your bra, his knuckles brushing dangerously close to places that would mean no turning back.
“I was talking about simply making it seem like we did something.”
He pauses.
A teasing smirk curls against your skin.
“Didn’t think you’d take it so literally.”
Your breath stutters.
A sharp mix of heat and indignation surges through you, twisting deep in your stomach, because he’s playing with you.
Like he knows exactly what he’s doing to you—and he loves every second of it.
Your fingers curl into the fabric of his shirt, gripping tighter, a silent warning, a desperate attempt to keep yourself together.
He just chuckles—low, dark, sinful.
“Getting shy now?” His voice is all arrogance, his hands still skimming, still testing, still pushing you to the edge of losing control completely.
You hate him.
God, you hate him.
But you hate yourself more for the way your body leans into him, for the way your breath hitches when his teeth graze your pulse, for the way his heat drowns you whole.
And the worst part?
He knows.
He always knows.
His lips ghost over your skin, the smirk never leaving.
“Tell me, sweetheart,” he whispers, voice velvet-smooth, “if I slipped my hands a little lower, would you stop me?”
Your stomach flips.
Your grip tightens.
But you don’t answer.
And that silence is exactly what he needs.
Sylus hums, a low, knowing sound, his fingers tightening against your spine, dragging heat along your skin as they trail downward again—slow, teasing, excruciating.
And then, his lips move, lower—tracing just barely along the column of your throat, hovering, not quite touching, not quite giving in.
“No protest?” His voice is mocking, rich with amusement and something darker, something heavier.
His fingers skim along the waistband of your jeans, just a whisper of pressure, enough to send a jolt through your system, enough to make your nails bite into his shirt, into his skin beneath it.
Your pulse hammers, every muscle in your body coiled so tightly you swear you might snap.
His breath brushes against your ear, soft, deliberate, taunting.
“Still not stopping me?”
You should.
You should.
But your body betrays you, tilting into his touch, into his heat, into the danger of him.
Sylus hums, a deep, satisfied sound, his fingers hooking onto the waistband of your jeans—
A knock shatters the daze you were in.
Loud. Sharp.
The closet door rattles slightly.
“Time’s up, lovebirds!” someone calls, muffled through the wood.
Everything freezes.
Your breath catches.
Sylus doesn’t move, not immediately.
For a long, tense second, his fingers linger—just barely pressing into your skin, his body still flush against yours, his lips hovering just over your jaw.
Though slowly, deliberately, devastatingly—he pulls back.
Just enough for you to breathe again.
Just enough to make you ache from the loss.
Sylus stretches, rolling his shoulders lazily before throwing you a look that’s pure, wicked satisfaction. He runs his thumb across his lower lip, like he’s still tasting you there.
The door finally swings open, and light floods in.
His voice is low, smooth as silk, but dripping with mocking amusement, he whispers before he steps out of the closet—
“Shame. I was just getting started.”

Pretty much agreed on your points (though that being said, technically, the situation regarding Princess vs. Princess was more a means to an end rather than something she actually enjoyed per-se, the beauty contest, anyway, the festival itself she definitely enjoyed, and the bit about Beauty and the Beach was a bit more... complicated [she was mostly doing it to pay off debts to that old man since they wrecked a pier with a stolen boat. Might as well add, on the subject of that Beach episode, Shudo if anything had to DOWNPLAY that bit personally since someone nearly had her doing a very risque modeling pose in the episode, which he promptly vetoed.].). Besides, I never minded Princess Peach, so it's not necessarily girly stuff that I would dislike in a female character (heck, the episode that made me EXTREMELY loyal to Misty was chock-full of girly stuff that she had very little problem participating in. If I recall correctly, a Pokemon psychology book even made clear that one of the reasons why Misty was well-regarded in the anime among fans is precisely BECAUSE she struck a good balance between girly and not girly, something that hasn't really been achieved with later girls.). And yeah, nice to see you defend Togepi and her mothering it as well, considering way too many so-called "fans" denouncing her as getting stale and losing character by becoming a mom (gee, I'd hate to think what they thought of Super Metroid or even Final Fantasy VI, especially when Pokemopolis from what they described of Togepi made it sound as though it was a Metroid). And those same fans hypocritically praise that Manaphy movie as being May's movie despite the fact that not only was she subject to the exact same "egg-holding" status they had earlier crassly mocked Misty for, but that movie if anything made MAY look extremely weak especially by the climax, to the extent of having ASH blatantly steal the spotlight, which alongside Jack Walker's negative comments of how May being a mother to Manaphy needlessly complicated his mission to return it there just spelled a lot of inherently negative aspects to motherhood. Seriously, at least Misty still managed to kick butt while raising Togepi, not to mention NEVER let Togepi be abducted without a fight or at least a pursuit. Heck, Misty was implied to at least be capable of cooking to the extent of getting them through long periods when they aren't at a Pokemon center (she had to have been the one who cooked during the time they were at Viridian Forest before meeting Brock, knowing how Ash's first day was a disaster), and that's not even getting into the Stun Sporeitis bit where she cooked Salveyo Weed to cure Ash, Tracey, and even Jessie of their eponymous illness, or that one of the Anime Cardass key arts depicted her as cooking stew during the Orange Islands (in fact, I actually was annoyed that Sick Daze, in a blatant attempt at forcing in relevancy for Brock, had her be depicted as being as hopeless at cooking as May, especially when earlier episodes and even supplementary materials indicated that, even if not quite to gourmet levels, she WAS indeed capable of cooking when the situation comes down to it. At least with May, it was firmly established that she can't cook to save her own life.).
So far as Serena is concerned, I'm not going to complain much if she's girly (had no complaints about Princess Peach, so girliness won't be that big of an issue with her). The only way I'm going to complain about how girls are depicted is if they're depicted more along the lines of the following:

Yeah, used a different image for the Love Hina one from the prior post I used that series of images in, more to make the point clearer (like I said earlier, the situation with Naru and Keitaru wasn't the first time she beat up Keitaru, or the last, nor was she the only one to do so either [if anything, it's easier to count on hand which girls DIDN'T beat him up, one of whom is seen in there]. It's certainly the only time Keitaru grew a spine though...). In fact, all those things above, especially after watching a bit of AG and DP (not much, admittedly, but still...) had me disliking May and Dawn. You can blame my mom for that, ultimately (certainly the dislike of those Fiorello Fangirls above and also the Love Hina girls, and fairly or otherwise, I saw them in May and Dawn). I guess another example would be Maron from DBZ as well (also Sex and the City, though let's just say the situation with that one was even WORSE). As far as I know, while on the girly side, at least Serena wasn't essentially depicted as an animal unlike the above images. AFAIK, anyways. Part of the reason I'm still neutral is because I haven't actually WATCHED XY yet in any capacity (the closest to watching is .GIFs), and until I actually watch enough of it to make any determination, I'm remaining neutral.
Either way, all I can say is that she certainly had a far better written start than May did.
And since the start of this series of posts was the infamous snowball scene, even if I didn't like Serena's girly depiction, I if anything would have actually sided with Serena in that situation mostly because what Ash did there actually WAS low and the story even made clear this was out of character for him (not to mention I'd realize trashing another character's goals like that, after everything they went through, and most likely not having another chance at doing so is just downright LOW). Besides, I've already seen a WAY worse situation than that from Chapter 17 of Love Hina, as you're probably already aware of, and as I've said many times, both Misty and Serena, regarding the Snowball scene and even similar scenes in Kanto treated Ash NICELY by comparison to what Naru did to Keitaru in that scene. Heck, going by what she said in the last image which was presumably BEFORE she started snowballs, even if she WAS being manipulative (as I've seen one critic describe the snowball scene as), she had darn good reason to be since it was a literal life or death situation and she was trying to save Ash's life.
Probably my only real agreement with the other user was that they could have given her another goal besides Kalos Queen (like challenging gyms, which BTW actually COULD have made Ash be a mentor figure to her as well, which we never really got since they randomly decided to have May do contests instead despite building up to her challenging gyms), or even Sky Battler like Yvonne in the manga. And to be fair, Kalos Queen IS in fact her own goal, or was at least.

If I just lay here, will you pelt me with snowballs?

!MDNI: Random hcs - JJK
an - just some random thoughts about my malewives. VERY explicit, do NOT interact if you're a min0r
ᡣ𐭩 G. Satoru
Fụcks you like he's shooting a pọrno, which he kinda is because of the camera that he's holding. Makes sure to get all the scandalous angles, like close-ups of your pụssy lips spread around his thick length. Obnoxiously zooms in on your face and mocks the way your mouth hangs open and eyes roll back.
Pụssy talking, hehe... has full-blown conversations to you when he's between your thighs and even assigned it she/her pronouns because he's inclusive like that. Tells your drenched cụnt all about his day whilst he's french-kissing your entire pụssy. Licks up all the strands of slick that connect his lips to yours like someone's starved him.
Messy. Won't hesitate to spit in your mouth and kiss you senseless, urging you to do the same. Nasty with it, quite literally tongue-fụcking you to the rhythm of his hips.
ᡣ𐭩 G. Suguru
Has a dacryphilia kink TRUST ME. I don't mean it out of pain, but he likes seeing you cry out of desperation or because of how good HE is making you feel. Not anyone. Just him. He likes kissing or licking away each tear, murmuring condescendingly into your ear about how you look so pretty crying for him.
Wants his hair pulled. Not gently, but enough to have him hissing at the slight sting. He wants his entire head to move when you do this, especially when he's eating you out from below. He doesn't mind it when you forcefully guide his movements like this.
Heavy into worshipping. With you, he'll cụm all over your chest, thighs, ąss. EVERYWHERE, and that includes inside. Suguru would then lick it all up, muttering about how utterly devoted he is to you. His hands are soft when it comes to dragging them all over your body. He truly makes you feel loved.
ᡣ𐭩 T. Fushiguro
NAASSTYYY MAN mmfngn my fave. This man grunts, groans, treats sẹx like a whole workout session and doesn't feel accomplished until you're both sweaty and red. He's so animalistic when he's really into it, leaving handprints and bite marks wherever he can.
Loves positions that can really show off his strength. This includes full nelson, mating press, doggy with a foot on the back of your neck hello??? Gets all mean when he deems the arch of your back inadequate (Inspired by @/tonycries I LOVE it when she includes this)
Voyeur but only with you. Likes watching you pleasure yourself and failing because he KNOWS he's better than whatever you use on yourself. Jerks off with that stupidly cocky smirk of his, pretending like his bąlls aren't aching to be drained. I don't know who he's trying to fool.
ᡣ𐭩 N. Kento
Has a secret folder in his phone named something completely random, like 'meetings' or 'important'. The folder only consists of the filthiest voice recordings of you during intimate times (sounds of you taking his cọck so well down your throat, skin slapping against skin, your moans most importantly)
Loves (consensual) sleepy sẹx. He loves how domestic it feels to wake up beside you and coax you into a state of arousal. There's no rush to either of your movements as he spoons you from behind, one leg over your hip and cọck nestled deep within.
Refuses to cụm until you have at least twice. Your pleasure comes first, and he takes great pleasure in gently squeezing his cọck so that he doesn't cụm early (just from seeing you feel good). His head would throw back, exposing the column of his throat that rumbles with a groan from edging himself <3
ᡣ𐭩 S. Ryomen
Scent obsessed. His senses are definitely heightened compared to yours, and he'll obscenely sniff every part of you, dragging his nose and tongue in areas ranging from between your legs or the crook of your neck. Can definitely smell the adrenaline and fear when there's (consenual) chasing involved.
Cụms literal buckets. Enjoys seeing that slight pudge in your belly after a thorough marathon of him dumping his thick load into you repeatedly. NOT ashamed to eat you out after either. Maybe fantasises about that bump growing into something more. He thinks you'd look pretty all pregnant with his 'heirs'.
Loves the sound of you gagging on his cọck. He knows he's big, but hearing you struggling to take him deep into your throat boosts his ego even more. Holds you down and feels the way you spasm around him, enjoying the way you let him roll his hips further into your mouth. Dare I say he cụms in your mouth and grips your throat tight enough to feel you swallowing...

I saw this video and it's sooo caleb coded!!! >_< so here's a little something I made <3 little short and sloppy sorry :(
cw. fondling, fingering, nipple play, gentle sex, needy!caleb, kinda fluffy hehe
Tumblr media
"ey pipsqueak, we need to clean this closet out. try some of these dresses to see if they still fit you." Caleb said as he grabbed a handful of mini dresses and threw them on the bed.
an annoyed sigh escaped your lips and you skimmed through all the dresses to see which one to try first.
eventually after searching for a bit, you found a simple silky light pink-ish one and you headed towards the bathroom to get changed.
after you got changed, you looked into the mirror and fuck, this dress was perfect. you step out the bathroom and sit back on the bed to find another dress to wear, but before you could pick out one more, Caleb turned around and threw a shirt at your face.
"aye! what was that for!" you chuckle, removing the shirt off of your face and looked at Caleb, whos eyes were definitely not on yours.
you follow his gaze and they stop right where you expected.
your cleavage. what a fuckin' pervert.
"Caleb?"
"hm?"
"what are y-"
but Caleb doesn't let you speak. he throws another shirt at you before strutting his way to the bed and immediately climbed on top of you.
when you lifted the shirt off your face you were met with Calebs large figure shadowing over you. his eyes were filled with need and suddenly he lifted you off your back and placed you on his lap.
"this dress, pipsqueak..." he sighed, tracing his fingers along the curves of your figure, while also toying with the fabric bonding with your body.
"what 'bout it?" you tease, poking at his chest and that caused a desperate whimper to escape out of his lips. Calebs large hands mold around your hips and he flips you over, so now his chest was pressed against your back.
his fingers snake your whole body, and finally he made it to your breasts. with a quick movement he immediately cups his hands around them.
he toyed with your breasts, squeezing, pressing, pulling on them. all through the dress, and he was trying to hold himself back so, so bad but of course he couldn't.
"too pretty.." he mumbled and slid his fingers under the top part of your dress. his cold fingertips immediately make contact with your perked up nipple and he pinched and pulled at it, letting low, quiet moans escape your lips.
"Caleb.." you whisper, your voice laced with neediness. Caleb hums against your shoulder as the dress that was on you, was now almost about to slide off your body.
but Calebs movements didn't stop though, he continued to play with your tits like they were stress balls.
your head tilts back in pleasure as you felt arousal surging through you. Calebs rough lips start to leave kiss marks on your shoulder, and soon seek lower and lower on your body.
he removed his hands from your breasts and slid the remaining of your silky dress off, until you were left bare and exposed beneath him. a low whistle was heard from behind you and Caleb soon flipped you over until you were facing him.
he immediately eyes down your figure and his gaze lingers on your pussy for a second before he pushed you down, so that you were laying on your back.
Caleb grabs onto your ankles and wraps them around his hips, his fingers fumbled on his belt for a second and he took multiple tries to unbuckle it open and finally, when a click was heard he took the rest of his clothes off.
"I shouldn't had made you try the dresses huh?" Caleb mumbled, pressing his leaking tip with your already soaking entrance. you shook your head in response and a mocking chuckle was head from Caleb before he slowly, carefully, pushed himself deeper in you.
you felt like you were in heaven.
his perfectly molded cock stretched out your walls like it was used to it. you slowly rode yourself against Caleb, letting both you and him savour the slow undeniable pleasure rushing through both of you.
the sounds of both of your moans filled the room, you felt Calebs fingers wrap around your hips as he kept a firm grip on them, not quickening the pace in you at all. he needed to take this slowly, and perfectly.
"somethin' about that dress makes me...ngh feel like this?" Caleb mentions, his purple gaze continues to look down at you with love.
"I just don't know...if it was the dress." another deeper thrust was sent through you.
"or you."
you let out a loud moan when you felt Caleb push his full length in you and kept you there for a moment, just to stare into your eyes.
you stare up at Caleb with teary eyes as he continued to look down with you with only love filled in his eyes. "what d'ya think pipsqueak?" he asked.
"me, of course."
Caleb chuckled and shook his head, "of course it's you." he said, pulling himself halfway out of you and then slowly thrusting himself back and forth, seeking for release.
"cal- 'm gonna cum!" you whine, your fingertips digging in the bedsheet as you tried to ride yourself to release quicker. but Caleb hushes you pulls out.
"dont ride it out too fast," he frowned, pressing a finger against your twitchy clit, giving it a few rubs. you moan and tilt your head back in pleasure. Calebs fingers seek your soaking already stretched out cunt and slid a finger in as he stroked you in a slow, deliberate movement.
something about this felt way better than trying to release any quicker, you closed your eyes shut as he continued to lazily stroke you in a slow rhythm.
"'m close." you gasp out and Caleb nodded, still continuing his movements inside you. and then a wave of pleasure washed through you as you felt yourself reach climax.
a sigh left your lips when you felt Calebs fingers slide out of you and help you sit up on the bed.
"my turn now!" he chuckled.

Ficlet Friday?
A slightly buzzed Bucky just being the cutest or in love or both. Definitely a fluff-ficlet. Your choice on which Bucky 😉
I tried to make it fluffy, nonnie, but it does have a touch of angst. Sorry!
Tumblr media
Pretty Girl
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Female Reader
Word Count: Over 700
Warnings: Tipsy Bucky, encouraging friends, slight angst
Tumblr media
You were reading a book in the lounge when laughter rang out through the hall, a smile touching your lips. The guys decided to do a “boys' night out” and it sounded like they had a good time. Between being heroes and the trials and tribulations they all went through, they deserved it.
“Hey! Pretty girl!”
You didn't turn toward the sound of Bucky’s voice immediately as much as you wanted to. Glancing around, you were the only one in the lounge, so who was he talking to? It would mean everything for him to call you pretty, but you were just… you.
“Steeeeve. I don’t think she heard me,” Bucky loudly whispered.
“Then say it again with feeling,” Steve loudly whispered back.
“Got it.” Bucky sucked in breath which gave you enough time to cover your ears. “HEY! PRETTY GIRL!”
“Jesus Christ, I can hear you guys,” you confirmed, shutting your book. There went your quiet evening. “I guess stealth isn’t your strong suit tonight.”
You shrieked when Bucky suddenly sat beside you, casually throwing an arm over your shoulders. Okay, he was still stealthy, and he looked amazing in his jeans and henley. “There’s my pretty girl. I missed you,” he smiled.
“Um…” You looked around to find Steve, Thor, Sam, Joaquin, and Clint hovering by with expectant looks on their faces. You tried to come up with something witty, but all you said was, “What?”
Bucky chuckled, his cheeks a bit more pink than usual. “My pretty girl is adorable, isn’t she?” he said over his shoulder before looking at you with hearts in his eyes.
You leaned in to get a closer look at him, catching a small whiff of liquor mixed with his cologne. “You’re tipsy,” you said. How was that possible?
“No, I’m Bucky. And you’re pretty,” he smiled, the dreamy look still in his eyes. “Pretty eyes, pretty smile, pretty voice. Even your name’s pretty.”
As happy as you were to hear those things, even as your heart pounded, you looked to the guys for help because Bucky couldn’t be serious. “How?”
“My apologies,” Thor spoke even louder than usual. “I shared some of my Asgardian liquor with Barnes and Rogers and… Well-”
“Bucky hasn’t shut up about you,” Sam cut in, rolling his eyes. “‘My girl is the prettiest girl there is.’”
“‘Isn’t my girl brilliant? And so kind!’” Clint mocked.
“‘Her smile just lights up the room’,” Joaquin added.
“Guys, c’mon. It’s sweet,” Steve smiled before he said, “‘I’ll bet her kisses even taste pretty.’”
Heat filled your cheeks. Bucky didn’t deny a thing, so they were telling the truth, weren’t they? “But I’m not-”
The former Winter Soldier placed a hand on your cheek, drawing your attention back to him. “Don’t look at them, pretty girl. Look at me.”
You did, and it made you want to cry. Because you weren’t his girl. He was only saying these things because he was tipsy. “Okay. You had your fun, so why don’t you get some sleep?”
His smile fell away. “No,” he muttered, pulling you into his lap in the blink of an eye and putting his face in your neck. “I’m fine right here.”
His lips against your skin had you shivering, and it wasn’t possible to break from his hold. Being this close felt like a dream, but he was tipsy and you had to be the responsible one. “Um… a little help?” you asked.
“Of course.” Thor stepped forward. “Allow me.”
You smiled at the God of Thunder. “Thanks, I…” You stopped when he draped a blanket over you and Bucky. Where did that even come from? “That wasn’t what I-”
“And some water,” he smiled as Bucky nuzzled your neck with a happy moan. You tried not to let that moan turn you on. You had to be good. “Men, let us take our leave.”
“Behave, jerk,” Steve said as Thor shuffled everyone from the room.
“Shut up, punk,” Bucky snarled, nuzzling you again. The lights dimmed, too. It was almost romantic. “Not you, pretty girl. You can say whatever you want.”
You had to laugh. Laughter was better than worrying about what would happen in the morning. “So, I’m your pretty girl?”
“Yep,” he said with a smile. “All mine.”
“Okay, Sarge,” you smiled sadly. “I’m your pretty girl.”
Relaxing in his hold, you could pretend until he was sober that you were.

Love and thanks for participating in Ficlet Friday! ❤️ And this one may be fun to continue.

Don’t have enough energy to ride…no problem! Your boyfriend, Gojo Satoru has some solutions

Gojo x femreader Word count: 1.1k

“yeah yeah just like that baby” he says as he tries to follow the movements of your hips bouncing up and down on his swollen cock. You could tell he was getting impatient, you were going too slow.
Gojo wanted you to do reverse cowgirl today…
“D-don’t stop…just keep going” between moans and whimpers he squeezes your hips as you feel his whole body getting sticky.
You reach your arms back for support and hold on to his wrists and keep moving. You feel your legs giving up and you get slower
“Fuck…faster p-please” he groans
“Gojo…I can’t, I’m tired”
You feel his huge dick inside of you, taking up all the space in you. The sounds of both of you fucking are the result of his throbbing, girthy dick getting slammed into your wet cunt.
your thighs are starting to burn. You really don’t think you can make him finish. You were close but not completely
You look back to see Gojo’s face and you know he’s getting really annoyed. You already came twice and your boyfriend just keeps leaking precum
“fuck this” he mutters and in one swift movement he wraps his big hand around your waist flipping you under him.
Now your face down, arching your back while your pussy pulses, waiting for his dick to fill you up again
His precum is all over your inner thighs and your cum is still dripping down your wet folds.
He slaps your ass making you yelp like a puppy
He grins as he slides his dick right into your pussy where it belongs
“now …*squelch I ..can *squelch* fuck…you…*how..you..ngh..I like it”
He’s thrusting into you real hard. Making up for the short timed effort you put in to riding his thick cock
Your moaning gets louder and louder, any minute now you’re about to feel the sweet sensation of cumming once again from Gojo’s cock deep in you.
“Cmon baby, I know you wanna come…that’s it…let’s try do it at the same time” his face plastered with a mocking smile. You always cum before Gojo and he likes to remind you all the time about it.
His dick reaches deeper and deeper into you each time, you feel as if he’s gonna rip you apart. He’s messing up your insides and really fucking with your head.
The tone of his voice isn’t matching with his actions, he’s being aggressive and needy, the way he tightly grips on to your love handles will definitely leave marks. But his voice is filled with affection and love, making you compelled to listen
He’s fucking you so good you have no choice but to take it and just wait for him to him release his seed into you. You estimate he’s about to reach that point.
“Mmmmnggghh…my princess c-can’t do anything by herself can she”
“N-no daddy”
you spread my legs a bit more as you feel them giving in once again. Having sex with Gojo almost eveyday is one hell of a workout
Luckily just then, his hot cum makes its presence in your hole. There’s so much of it it’s already gushing out. His deep breaths exaggerate as he he pulls his cum covered cock out of you.
Just as you think it’s over…he pulls your hair jerking you back toward him. You could say it hurt a little but oh God you wouldn’t miss the view you saw for anything
You could see his face flushed, sweaty and eyes still wanting more. His upper body was perfectly sculpted, buff arms holding your lower body to pound into
Oh he was really gonna break you today. Your back already hurt from all this you don’t think you could take more
“Daddy it h-hurts…no m-more”
After you said that, he laughs a little under his breath, guiding his dick right back into your pussy.
“can’t let any of that spill out baby”
He keeps talking about how he’s sorry but he just can’t stop.. your brain can’t focus enough to listen. Your boyfriend loves to ramble on as he makes you scream
his dick had softened just a bit after cumming but it’s rock hard throbbing inside of you after just a few seconds. You feel it grow inside😊
Your poor butt is also red and stinging from his spanking. Your a bit confused as to why he hasn’t started thrusting again.
His hand reaches to your pussy and he pats it. You flinch from the pressure of his hands. Everything of his, is big, like his hands, his muscles, his stamina ….his monster dick.
You can’t handle him touching the outside while his dick is inside.
He plays around a bit then placing his middle finger on your clit, rubbing it.
Your muscles tighten there, allowing your inner walls to close in more on his fat cock. His veins so prominent, you can basically feel your interior molding around them
You shamelessly let out more noises, music to Gojo’s ears. Your hands grip the sheets as he continues to play with your pussy as he pleases…waiting for you to beg him to just fuck you again instead of teasing you mercilessly
“you ready to have another load shoot up this pretty pussy of yours”
You nod your head desperately, your legs shaking, the way he plays with your clit always allows you to give in to him.
“y-yes” you speak quietly
“yes what?”
“yes daddy…fill me up again”
he did not even take a second to start violating the hell out of your abused cunt. Your mind getting clouded by the repeated thrusting at an increased speed.
You think you just had another orgasm. But it’s not like your boyfriend cares enoguh to stop and let you take a second to recover again. He just wants to keep pounding into you. Filling your hole up to the brim with his special fluid
You actually think you might pass out but the way his dick opens up your insides keeps you thinking about how lose your hole might get after this is over
“S-so close” gojo whispers to you as he keeps pressing his heavy dick into you
You are so grateful once you feel another round of his fresh cum inside of you. Filling up the deepest part of you. Gojo has definitely bruised your cervix
It felt like too much. He had been producing a lot more cum these days…even when he takes his dick out, the fullness that you feel remains
“Gojo..it feels weird”
“Oh, does it now?” He says in a mocking tone
The whole room was humid and your bodies were covered in cum and sweat.
But once Gojo gets started there is no stopping him, he can’t get enough of your pussy swallowing him whole constantly.
So you are a good girlfriend and give up on trying to tell him to slow down or give you a break from fucking you harder and harder all night long.

Tipsy and Yours ᝰ.ᐟ
Paring- Chan x Reader
Summary-Tipsy and giggly, Chan clings to Y/N, getting shy as friends tease him, but her affection keeps him at ease.
Tumblr media
It was a cool Friday night, the kind of evening that made you want to curl up with a blanket and a warm drink. But instead, Y/N found herself at a lively gathering at Chan’s apartment, surrounded by his closest friends. The music was upbeat, laughter filled the air, and the faint clink of glasses punctuated the conversation. Chan had been working hard lately, and his friends insisted he unwind for once. So here they were, enjoying a rare night off.
Y/N was perched on the couch, a glass of soda in her hand as she watched Chan across the room. He was laughing at something Seungmin said, his dimpled smile brighter than the string lights strung up on the walls. He looked happy, carefree, and… a little tipsy. It wasn’t often Chan drank, but tonight his friends had convinced him to let loose.
As the night wore on, Y/N noticed the change in him. His laughter grew louder, his movements looser. By the time he stumbled over to her, giggling over something that didn’t even make sense, she knew he was drunk.
“Y/N,” he slurred, plopping down beside her with a dopey grin. “You’re so pretty. Did you know that?”
Y/N chuckled, her cheeks heating up. “You’ve told me, Chan. A few times tonight, actually.”
“Well, it’s true,” he said, leaning closer. His voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper, though it was loud enough for the others to hear. “You’re the prettiest person in the whole room.”
From across the room, Felix and Hyunjin exchanged amused glances. “Uh-oh, looks like Chan’s in his clingy phase,” Hyunjin teased, a smirk tugging at his lips.
Chan blinked at them, his ears turning red. “I am not clingy,” he mumbled, though the effect was ruined when he wrapped his arms around Y/N and buried his face in her shoulder.
“Oh, definitely not clingy,” Felix quipped, his grin widening. “Completely independent, right?”
“Leave him alone,” Y/N said, laughing softly as she stroked Chan’s back. “He’s harmless.”
Chan pulled back just enough to look at her, his lower lip jutting out in a pout. “They’re teasing me,” he said, his voice filled with mock betrayal. “Make them stop.”
“You’re so cute when you’re like this,” Y/N said, pressing a kiss to his forehead. She wasn’t sure if it was the alcohol or his natural warmth, but he felt like a human heater.
“Cuuute?” Jeongin echoed, raising an eyebrow. “Did you hear that, guys? Chan’s officially cute.”
“Stop,” Chan groaned, hiding his face in Y/N’s neck. “You’re embarrassing me.”
“Embarrassing you?” Felix laughed. “Mate, you’re the one glued to Y/N like a koala.”
“Am not,” Chan mumbled, though he made no effort to move away. If anything, his grip tightened. “She’s comfy.”
Y/N couldn’t help but laugh, the sound soft and warm. “Come on, let’s move somewhere quieter,” she said, gently nudging him. “You’re gonna fall asleep on me at this rate.”
He nodded eagerly and stood, wobbling slightly. Without a second thought, he grabbed her hand and led her to the corner of the room where a large armchair sat unoccupied. Before she could sit, he pulled her into his lap, wrapping his arms around her waist.
“Chan!” Y/N exclaimed, half-laughing, half-surprised. “What are you doing?”
“Keeping you close,” he said simply, his voice muffled as he pressed his face into her shoulder. “You’re mine.”
The room erupted into laughter, the guys absolutely losing it at Chan’s unabashed clinginess.
“Wow, he’s gone,” Seungmin said, shaking his head with an incredulous smile. “I’ve never seen him like this before.”
“Yeah, drunk Chan is… something else,” Hyunjin agreed, snapping a picture with his phone. “For the memories.”
Chan groaned again, peeking out just enough to glare at Hyunjin. “Delete that.”
“Not a chance.”
Y/N rolled her eyes playfully and ran her fingers through Chan’s hair, calming him down. “Ignore them. They’re just jealous because they don’t have someone to take care of them like I do.”
That shut them up quickly, and Y/N couldn’t help but feel a little smug. Chan, meanwhile, melted under her touch, the tension leaving his body as he relaxed completely.
“Love you,” he murmured sleepily, his words slurring together.
“I love you too,” Y/N replied softly, pressing a kiss to the top of his head. She could feel the warmth of his smile against her shoulder.
The night continued around them, but for Y/N and Chan, it felt like they were in their own little bubble. Drunk or not, he was hers, and she wouldn’t trade moments like this for anything.

“Moooooom,”
You hear a tiny voice whisper in your ear. Most mornings started this way, if not all of them. Whoever said getting children out of bed in the morning was difficult had clearly never met Abbey. Every day you peeled your tired eyes open to see the miniature version of them staring back at you, the only difference being they were much wider, and lacking the distinct fog of leftover sleep.
Today her hair was sticking up in all different directions; frizzy curls here and tangled knots there. Your daughter takes after you in many ways, one being that she’s an active sleeper and it shows when she wakes up. Her bed was always disheveled; embroidered blankets strewn across her bedroom floor and little red lines indented in her cheeks where they had been smushed against her pillow.
“Mornin’ Ab,” you say, voice gravelly with disuse. “Have you made your bed yet?” you eye her suspiciously.
You know she hasn’t and she confirms as much when she spins on her heel and dashes for her room down the hall. Truthfully, you couldn’t care less if her bed was made or not, it was merely a guise to buy you a few extra minutes of peace and quiet each morning.
︵୨୧︵
When she doesn’t reappear, you assume she’s gotten distracted and decide to make your way downstairs to scrounge for something to eat. You never ate breakfast before you had Abbey; either for lack of time or because the smell of food so early in the morning made you nauseous. Eating three meals a day was just one bullet point on the long, running list of changes in your routine since becoming a mother.
Two bowls of Frosted Flakes were set out on the table after deciding there was no time for anything more nutritious.
“Abbey!” You call, “Breakfast!”
You hear the sounds of sniffling and small feet padding on hardwood as she enters the kitchen– pouting. You try not to gape at the utter monstrosity of an outfit she's put on. She whines, “I don’t know what I want to wear!”
You sense a meltdown coming already, on today of all days. Pre-school was easy, as Abbey was a fairly agreeable kid. Or at least she used to be. Lately it felt like you had to battle her about anything and everything.
“You look so beautiful, Ab!” you reassure her, attempting to deescalate the impending tantrum. She has on pink corduroy pants and a frilly forest green blouse. For accessories she’s sporting a chunky plastic necklace that definitely came with a dress-up kit, along with a tutu. You have no idea where the tutu came from.
Eventually she decides not to fight you, at least not on her outfit. However, as she climbs into the kitchen chair, she scowls down at the soggy cereal in front of her and asks in the most darling tone she can muster,
“Can I have Scooby fruit snacks instead?”
“How about I pack some in your lunchbox today and you can eat them at snack time?” you try to barter.
Sneaking a glance at the clock, it mocks you with its unforgiving hands– you’re going to be late and your daughter will have skipped supposedly the most important meal of the day. Some mother you are.
“But I want them right now!” Her petite fists bang against the wooden table and she’s a heap of dramatics wriggling in her chair.
“Hey, what did we talk about? Yelling is not nice, even when we’re frustrated. Right?” She acknowledges you with a teary nod along with more crying and petulant moaning that can be heard as you run to the bathroom and grab a hairbrush with two bows. When you return, she’s still moping over her breakfast, but taking bites nonetheless. A win is a win.
You begin detangling the mess of knots and snarls at the back of her head. “Ouch, Mommy!” she cries when you try to comb through a particularly tangled section.
You place one of your hands over the crown of her head like a claw in a poor attempt at keeping her from squirming, “The more you move the longer it takes, sweetheart,”
“Hmph.” she pouts, folding her arms over her chest. When all is said and done, your daughter has her hair parted and tied into two high pigtails, secured with little pink bows, and you’re rushing her out of the front door with haste.
︵୨୧︵
In all the hubbub, you realize you’ve barely gotten yourself ready. Reaching over to buckle Abbey into her carseat, she asks,
“When can I sit up front with you?”
“When you’re this many,” You hold out both your hands to display all ten fingers.
She mimics you with her own smaller fingers, “Ten?”
“That’s right!” You smack a kiss on the crown of her head as you pull back, she smells like her strawberry scented shampoo.
“Watch your feetsies,” you warn and she tucks her legs unnecessarily far into her chest as you close the door.
The ride is filled with the usual nonsensical ramblings of a five-year-old. She beams back at you through the rearview mirror, eyes sparkling and nodding fervently when you ask if she’s excited to make some new friends today. Your social butterfly, the complete antithesis of you.
The elementary school is only a few miles from your home, and before you know it you’re circling a crowded parking lot and preparing to drop your only child off for her first day of kindergarten. The rush of emotions you feel are indecipherable, something like a mix of somberness, excitement, relief, and anxiety.
As you walk towards the front of the building, you’re surrounded by dozens of kids aged five through twelve greeting their teachers and saying ‘Hello’ to friends they haven’t seen all summer. The teachers are holding laminated signs that indicate their name and what grade they teach; thank God for that. Abbey’s little fist squeezes around your index finger and you can tell she’s becoming nervous, despite her previous unbridled anticipation.
“Hey, it’s okay,” You assure, “Look, I think that’s your teacher right there,” you point towards a tall, brunette man standing near the double doors.
A shy smile tugs at the corners of her lips when she sees the teacher in question. He’s dressed in a striped button-down shirt and khakis, with a lanyard dangling from his front pocket; the typical teacher attire. The sign he’s holding reads, ‘Mr. Harrington’ and just below that, ‘Kindergarten’ with a little cartoon apple printed next to his name. He looks young compared to the rest of the staff, closer to your own age. This must be his first year teaching.
As you approach him, Abbey treks in front, eager to meet him. Her backpack is adorned with sparkly butterflies and it covers nearly her entire torso; bumping the backs of her knees with every step she takes.
The man crouches down to her level and greets her, “Hey there,” he offers a warm smile, “what’s your name?”
“Abbey,” she says timidly, twiddling her fingers and flashing a toothy grin at him. She doesn’t bother with her last name, honestly you’re not positive that she even knows it.
“Well, it’s very nice to meet you, Abbey,” he holds a gentle hand out for her to shake and she does so hesitantly, “My name’s Mr. Harrington, and I’m going to be your teacher this year. How does that sound?” The way he’s so patient and attentive with her stirs something within you that you haven’t felt in years, but he’s a teacher, for goodness sake. He looks up then, locking eyes with you and rising back to his full height.
This time, it’s your turn to shake his hand. “I’m Steve.”  He flashes you a smile directly out of a Colgate ad and you hope you’re not blushing as much as you feel like you are.
You must look nervous because he immediately assures you that Abbey’s in good hands this year. “We’re having an open house tonight, I hope to see you both there,”
You glance at your daughter, “What’d you think, Ab? That sound fun?”
“Yes!” She squeals and almost falls over from the weight of her backpack.
“Okay then,” With that, you crouch down to give Abbey one final hug. It’s clear that she’s itching to go socialize with the other kids, so you try not to delay her with your sappiness.
“Be good today, okay?” you give her a tight squeeze and a smacking kiss on her little cheek, “I’ll be back to get you at two-forty-five.”
“What will the clock say?” She asks inquisitively. Her favorite question.
“It’ll say ‘two-four-five’,” She nods in understanding, “But I bet you’ll be having so much fun that you won’t even remember to look.”
She’s already on her way to the door when she calls, “Love you, mommy!” and blows you a kiss with her lips puckered. You blow her one back and fight the tears threatening to surface. When did she get so big?
A pang of insecurity settles in your chest when you chance a look around and see all the children accompanied by two parents. You begin the walk back to your sedan before the thought has a chance to fester.
︵୨୧︵
Six hours goes by alarmingly fast when it’s spent running around your house in a frenzy, trying to catch up on all the cleaning you aren’t able to do when there’s a rampant five-year-old on the loose, making a brand new mess where you just cleaned an old one.
Before you can even register the time has passed, it's two o’clock and you need to pick Abbey up in a mere forty five minutes. Looking around your house, you feel satisfied with the progress you were able to make on tidying and call it a day.
This time, you decide to try and appear more presentable before visiting the school, and firmly remind yourself that it has nothing to do with how flustered your daughter’s kindergarten teacher makes you. By the time you’re dressed and have pulled your hair up into a halfway decent top knot; it’s time to go.
︵୨୧︵
The line for pickup wraps around the front of the building, aided by crossing guards and supervised by a few teachers. Twenty minutes into waiting, you regret not having gotten here a little sooner. ‘Tomorrow’ you think. Soon, you catch sight of two little pigtails bobbing up and down as your Abbey skips over to you, grinning ear to ear while Steve watches from the doors she just exited.
“Mommy!” she shouts as she bounds towards you. You place the car in park and run around to greet her.
“Hi, Bug!” you exclaim as you bend at the waist to pick her up. She gives you a tight squeeze around the neck, and you catch a split second of Steve’s gaze over her shoulder before he’s disappearing back inside the school
Plopping her as gently as possible into her carseat and fastening the straps over her chest, her mouth is already moving a mile a minute– absolutely ecstatic to tell you all about the activities she got up to while you were gone.
“What is ‘open house’ ?” she asks, kicking her feet like she can’t possibly contain all the excitement inside her little body.
“It’s just a chance for all the mommies and daddies to meet your teachers,” you explain, “And you get to show me around your new school, fun right?”
Her face lights up like a christmas tree at the prospect, “Are we gonna go?!”
“Yes, but first we have to eat dinner. What sounds good?”
Without missing a beat, she yells a little too loudly, “McDonalds!”
You want to say yes, of course you do, but your shifts at the ER barely cover the minimum of your living expenses. Your resolve begins to crumble, however, when she looks at you with those saucer-round eyes, and her bottom lip juts out in the most precious pout. Who knew she could be so harmlessly manipulative?
“I don’t know, Ab. I think we have some chicken nuggets in the freezer at home, though,” you say, with an air of hopefulness that she might accept the compromise.
“Not the same,” she whines, “Please, Mommy! I’ll be extra extra good please–”
And with that, it’s over.
“Okay! Okay, fine,” you feign annoyance through a smile, “We’ll stop on the way home,”
You can still hear her squeals of excitement when you close the door and walk around to the driver's seat.
︵୨୧︵
Abbey dresses a little more cohesively for the open house than she did this morning. This time she’s clad in a thrifted pair of overalls overtop a little purple blouse. She leads you, hand in hand, inside the school like she knows exactly where she’s going– despite only having spent six hours here.
Steve’s classroom looks exactly how you’d expect. The walls are a light, mint green and it’s as if a character from Sesame Street threw up all over it. Abbey leads you to a reading nook in the corner of the room, surrounded by books and complete with several bean bag chairs, and proclaims this is her favorite spot. She shows you where her desk is– right in the very front of the classroom– and on it, a laminated sticker with her first and last name sits neatly near the top. The walls are lined with colorful letters in alphabetical order, accompanied with numbers just underneath them.
“Abbey!” you hear a familiar voice call, “I’m glad you and your mom could make it!” turning to you then, “I’m actually not sure I ever caught your name,” he chuckles awkwardly, clearly embarrassed by the fact that he doesn’t know it yet.
“Oh, it’s–” and before you get the chance to tell him, Abbey pipes up and tells him your first and last name with a confidence that she certainly didn’t have when it came to her own introduction this morning. You’re relieved that she feels so comfortable around him already.
He repeats your name back to you and holds out his hand for you to shake, “It’s nice to meet you,” You pay no mind to the way your heart beats a little faster in its cage at the sound of your name on his lips. His palm is surprisingly soft when you grasp it in your own.
“It’s nice to meet you too,” you grant him a polite smile, “Abbey could not stop talking about you on the way home,” you pinch her side, teasing, and she giggles in that contagious way that kids do.
“Is that so?” he feigns surprise when he looks at her.
“Nooo!” her giggles amplify as she becomes increasingly bashful.
He crouches down to meet her at eye-level, exactly like he did this morning, “Well, that’s a shame, because I think you might be one of my favorite students,”
Now, she’s a heap of laughter and has a blush spreading from the apple of her cheeks to the tips of her ears. You can’t help but feel enamored by how great he is with children, silently wondering if he comes from a big family, or if he has a child of his own.
“Did you introduce your mom to Nibbles?” he asks her when her laughing mostly subsides.
She gasps like she can’t believe she would’ve forgotten such a thing, then she hauls you by the arm over to a tiny cage on a table, presumably for an even tinier animal.
“Mommy, look! This is Nibbles,” She’s peering between the metal bars of the enclosure and encouraging you to do the same, when you lean in closer you see a small, tan gerbil sleeping in a little nest of bedding.
“He’s our friend and he helps us learn, so we have to be very careful with him,” she tells you with a sudden seriousness that's amusing to see displayed on such a young face. It’s obvious she’s parroting Steve.
You turn to see Steve observing from a few feet behind you, both hands shoved in his pockets, “I didn’t think teachers actually had class pets,” you breathe a huff of laughter.
“Oh, yeah,” he chuckles with you, “I brought him from home, actually. Figured he could use some socialization. With dozens of children.” he informs you sarcastically. God, he’s funny too.
“Wouldn’t have pegged you to be a hamster guy,” you tease.
“He’s a gerbil, first of all,”
“Right, sorry, my bad,” you smirk.
“No time for a dog, I guess,” he shrugs, “thought I could use the company,” he’s clearly still bantering, but there’s an underlying melancholy in his tone that you can’t quite place. Before you can think about it for longer than a second, an impatient five-year-old is tugging on your arm and begging to show you the library.
“Okay, alright,” you laugh, “better get to it, the library awaits,” you shoot him an apologetic look for having cut the conversation short. You feel less guilty, however, when you see more parents and children start to funnel into the classroom, busying him in yours and Abbey’s absence.
“See ya, “ he waves.
“Bye, Mr. Harrington!” Abbey yells, already halfway down the hall.
︵୨୧︵
In the library you have to shush Abbey several times, much to her dismay.
“We use our inside voices in the library, Ab,” you remind her for the fifth time. She frowns but it’s temporary when she spots her favorite section: the picture books. Abbey is ahead of a kindergarten reading level now, and it's one of her favorite hobbies, but you can still never go wrong with a good picture book.
You’re about to follow her when you hear someone call your name.
You turn, “Stephanie?” you ask, puzzled.
“Oh my gosh! It’s been forever!” an old friend from your shared high school, Stephanie, pulls you into an unreciprocated bear hug. Squeezing and swaying back and forth for an awkward amount of time.
“Hey,” you draw out the last syllable and try to paint your voice with a nostalgic excitement, “How have you been?” you ask, even though you’re sure you’d rather be shot than continue this conversation.
You don’t know if you could really call Stephanie a ‘friend’, or if you ever could. The only reason she even knew your name being the shared, piranha-esq social circle you both ran in years ago. She reminded you of your past– who you used to be– someone who you’re not particularly proud of.
“Oh, I've been just fine!” She gestures wildly with manicured nails. Her lips are overlined and her hair is still damaged from bleaching and too many perms. Evidently, not a lot has changed. You ponder if she’s still the mean girl she always was underneath all that makeup, or if at some point in your adolescence she decided to mature.
“Todd and I just bought a house over on Maplewood, are you familiar?”
“Oh, no, not really– my daughter and I live across town,” You don’t like how ashamed you feel, “I’ve heard it’s beautiful over there, though,” you attempt to smile but it doesn’t reach your eyes.
“That was your daughter?” She’s trying not to sound taken aback and failing, “With–?”
“Yes,” Your teeth grit ever so slightly. You hate that she won’t say his name, as if speaking it into existence would somehow break you. Like you’re fragile.
“I was terribly sorry to hear about what happened, Hon,” Her sudden sympathetic tone irritates you, whether it’s genuine or not. You don’t need pity, especially not from Stephanie Nettles.
“It’s okay, Steph, really,” losing patience by the second, nothing about it was okay. “It was a long time ago, Abbey and I are doing fine,” you assure her.
“Oh,” she fawns as she presses her bony hands against her chest above her heart, “Can I meet her? Would you mind?" Her tone is saccharine sweet. You figure it can’t hurt, but when you turn around to retrieve Abbey, she’s not where you left her. The spot on the rug that she was previously occupying is empty and her book is abandoned on the floor.
“Abbey?!” Calling a little too loudly for the setting you’re in but you can’t bring yourself to care. You search row after row, it’s not a big library, and after every shelf you’re expecting her to be there– browsing novels and you’ll feel silly for overreacting.
But that doesn’t happen, and you realize with mild panic that she definitely left the library; somehow without you noticing. You suppose this is the safest place for her to go missing, but the thought doesn’t soothe you for long as you still have no idea where your daughter could be.
Stephanie is staring at you with concern, but still making no effort to help you locate Abbey. You don’t speak and neither does she as you rush out of the room and begin to pace the halls, still calling out for her. You check the bathrooms by the gym, a couple of empty classrooms that aren’t locked– she’s not there either.
When you’ve checked every available room and potential hiding spot in the near vicinity and still see no trace of her, that’s when the real dread sets in. What if she’d wandered outside and been taken? Or worse, there had been an accident and she’s hurt? She could be miles from here by now, she could be–
“I think this might belong to you,” a mellow voice rings out.
Steve and Abbey walk leisurely towards you, hand in hand. A complete contrast to the frazzled mess of anxiety you are right now. You hurl yourself in their direction and wrap Abbey up in a hug, lifting her off her feet.
“Oh my God, Abbey,” normally you’d be fuming at her for wandering off like that when you know that she knows better, but you can’t feel anything other than relief in the moment.
“Found her on the swings,” Steve continues, “Isn’t that right?”
Your relief does eventually morph to frustration, “You know better, Abbey Jane. Don’t stray off like that again. Do you understand?”
She succumbs to her guilt and you can tell her short-lived freedom has lost its novelty. “I’m sorry, mommy,” her little eyes well with tears. “The other kids were going to the swings, I wanted to go,” she pouts.
“We could’ve gone, baby, but you have to ask first, okay?”
Her meek response is muffled in the crook of your neck, “Okay,”
She’s still sniffling into your shoulder when you remember Steve is there, and your surroundings come back into focus.
“Thank you for finding her, Steve–”
“--His name is Mr. Harrington, mom,” she corrects like she can’t believe you’d embarrass her like that by calling her teacher the wrong name.
“--Mr. Harrington,” you stifle a laugh for your daughter's sake, sending him a knowing look.
He returns the expression, “Anytime,” he smiles, sweet . “Think that's enough scaring your mom for today, huh?”
Instead of acknowledging with words, she simply nods her head, eyes glued to the floor, ashamed.
“I think someones getting sleepy, might be time to head home,” you drag a gentle hand down her back soothingly.
“Will you carry me?” she asks too adorably to say no, despite her being ever-so-slightly too big for it. Grunting as you pick her up, you say, “Thanks, again,”
“No need,” he ruffles Abbey’s head lightly as you pass, “See you tomorrow, right?”
“See you,” her eyelids are heavy already. You make your way back to the car slowly but surely, arms growing more numb with every step.
︵୨୧︵
Abbey manages to bargain a bath out of you and four books before bedtime instead of the usual two. How you ever say no to her, you’re not sure. By the time you finally tuck her in, it's well past nine o’clock.
“Did you have a good day today?” You ask as you bend down to kiss her forehead.
“Yes, Mr. Harrington is my favorite teacher,” she proclaims drowsily.
“He’s your only teacher, Ab,” You snicker.
“But he’s still my favorite,” she replies in the same cadence one would say ‘Duh’.
“Well, I guess you’ll have to go to sleep super fast tonight so you can see him sooner, right?”
You can practically see the lightbulb turn on above her head like she’s just had a groundbreaking revelation and nods fervently. You tuck her in tight on both sides, and give her a kiss on each of her cheeks and once more to her forehead for good measure.
“Love you, Abbey girl,” you tell her on your way out, “Goodnight,”
“Goodnight, mommy,” she says wearily from underneath her princess bedsheets.
The door closes with a soft click and you make your way to the living room. You never had the chance to ask Stephanie what she was doing at the school– from what you knew, she didn’t have any children. Perhaps she was a teacher. It didn’t matter as long as you didn’t have to interact with her again.
As you lounged on your old sectional, you couldn't help your mind wandering back to thoughts of Steve. You wanted to know more about him. Where he came from, what made him want to work with kids, why he needed a gerbil to keep him company. Distantly, you imagined what he was like outside of an elementary school setting. You hoped one day you’d find out.
He was Abbey’s teacher, sure, but what was the harm in a little crush?

★ — Hold Me, Console Me
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Jayce Talis x GN!Reader
CW: fluff, Jayce is a golden retriever (and definitely a lapdog), takes place in s1
English isn't my native language
Jayce was a beacon of light and energy for Piltover—a symbol of innovation, hope, and determination. But even the "Golden Boy" had his moments of exhaustion.
After a particularly grueling day of council meetings, overseeing Hextech developments, and dodging endless waves of criticism, Jayce found himself craving something simple and unassuming: solace.
He trudged through the place he shared with you, his boots heavy on the floor, his shoulders slumped. The weight of Piltover’s expectations had pressed into him all day, and he couldn’t shake it off. He barely managed a grunt of greeting as he walked in, his honey-brown eyes dull and tired.
You were curled up on the couch with a book, but the moment you saw him, you closed it without hesitation.
"Jayce?" you asked gently, concern lacing your voice.
His lips quirked up in a weary smile, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. "Just tired."
You scooted over on the couch, patting your lap invitingly. "Come here."
His head tilted like a curious puppy’s, and his eyes lit up ever so slightly. "Really?"
"Really," you said with a soft chuckle.
That was all the encouragement he needed. Jayce immediately kicked off his boots and collapsed onto the couch, resting his head in your lap with an audible sigh of relief. His broad frame barely fit on the couch, but he didn’t care—he melted against you like molten gold, his arm draping across your legs possessively.
"You’re warm," he murmured, his voice muffled by your shirt.
"You’re heavy," you teased, running your fingers through his thick, caramel-colored hair.
"Not too heavy, right?" His words had a hint of playfulness, but there was an undercurrent of vulnerability in them.
"Not at all," you assured him. "You’re perfect right where you are."
Jayce hummed contentedly, his eyes fluttering closed as your fingers worked their magic. You gently massaged his scalp, trailing your fingertips down to his temples and back again. It didn’t take long for his tense shoulders to relax, the strain of the day slowly melting away.
"You know," you said after a moment, "you really do remind me of a golden retriever sometimes."
His eyes snapped open, and he looked up at you, mock-offended. "Golden retriever?!"
"Yeah," you said, laughing softly. "All big and lovable and eager to please. Plus, you’ve got that golden-boy glow about you."
Jayce groaned but couldn’t hide the grin tugging at his lips. "Great. Now I’m Piltover’s mascot and your lapdog."
"Hey, don’t knock it," you said, leaning down to press a kiss to his forehead. "You make a very good lapdog."
He chuckled, a deep, rumbling sound that vibrated through your legs. "Guess I’ll take it, as long as I get to stay here."
"As long as you need," you promised.
Jayce stayed there for hours, nestled in your lap, letting your touch and presence restore him in ways nothing else could. For Piltover, he might always be the Golden Boy, but for you, he was simply Jayce—the man who loved you, and sometimes, the man who just needed to be held.

Carrot Cake [Zayne + Son ★ 1257 words ★ Masterlist ★ Series Index ★ AO3] Zayne and his son are identical in appearance, personality, and mannerism, but there is one thing that baffles Zayne about his son. A/N: Needed a smile today, so I finished a wip that’s been sitting around. ❤️ Another part of my LNDS Men + Their Child series, but circling back to Zayne again. 🥹
“Well, doctor, did we forget anything else?”
Zayne looked down at the little three-year-old boy sitting in the shopping cart. The toddler’s appearance was practically identical to his father minus the hair color. The boy grinned at his father.
“Cake!”
Zayne laughed. The little boy was definitely a mini-him.
“You’re right,” Zayne said thoughtfully, “We shouldn’t forget the cake.”
The boy’s smile slowly disappeared, almost as if he remembered something very important. He furrowed his brows in contemplation, speaking softly, “But Mommy said no cakes…”
Zayne leaned down, his face in front of his son, his smile gentle with a touch of mischievousness.
“Mommy is not here. Daddy is in charge,” Zayne said, his smile widening when his son grinned again. “Now what kind of cake should we get?”
“Carrot cake!”
“Denied.”
He pinched his son’s cheek when the little boy pouted. He sighed with mock-exasperation. “I swear you and your mother are always messing with me.”
“But Daddy…carrot cakes are yummy…”
Zayne raised a brow, feeling doubtful. “Who in their right mind would think to use such an ingredient in a dessert…”
“Mommy likes carrot cakes!” the boy said suddenly, hoping this little tidbit of information could persuade his father to change his mind.
“Does she now?” Zayne smiled in amusement, seeing the boy’s earnest look. He casually resumed pushing the shopping cart through the aisle, absently looking at items after items on the shelves with faux interest.
“Yes!”
“She…or you, doctor?” Zayne paused in front of the condiment aisle and grabbed a bottle of soy sauce. As he turned to put the item into the cart, he met his son’s shy smile.
The boy looked bashful, almost embarrassed, as he answered quietly, “…both?”
Zayne laughed. “Maybe there is some truth in that conclusion,” he murmured, his next comment spoken lower and more to himself, “Your mother did eat a lot of carrots while pregnant with you…”
He continued to push the cart through the grocery store. “I don’t know, doctor, you haven’t been able to convince me why we should buy something so terrible.”
The boy frowned, his face scrunching up thoughtfully as he tried to think of a new convincing argument. He looked absolutely determined in his goal to persuade his father to change his mind about carrot cakes.
Zayne chuckled and continued to move through the aisles casually, taking his leisure time. He absently hummed along to the music playing overhead, occasionally sneaking glances at the quiet toddler. He could see his son was still thinking deeply, his only objective was his pursuit of the elusive carrot cake his father was denying him.
“Ah,” Zayne said suddenly, “Tofu is on sale. We can make mapo tofu tomorrow night for dinner.”
Zayne peeked at his son, still not hearing a response. He picked up two containers of silken tofu and placed them into the cart. He pinched his son’s cheek again. “Are you upset with Daddy now?”
The boy pouted. “…No…”
“That did not sound convincing.” Zayne leaned his face down closer again. “We can get a chocolate cake, a castella cake, strawberry, tiramisu…”
“…Carrot cake…”
Zayne playfully pretended he didn’t hear, and pushed the shopping cart through to the bakery department.
“We should get some sandwich bread for breakfast tomorrow,” Zayne said thoughtfully aloud as he examined the array of choices. “We still have that jar of raspberry jam you like…”
Zayne’s words fell on deaf ears. The little boy gasped, his green-yellow eyes catching sight of the cake display. He immediately zeroed in on the two-tiered carrot cakes. He reached out for his father, tapping Zayne’s hand impatiently.
“Daddy, Daddy, the cake, the cake!”
“Hmm?” Zayne continued to feign ignorance. “Oh, right, Mommy did ask us to pick up some steaks.”
He pushed the cart away, heading to the meat department. The little boy’s mouth hung wide open in shock as they walked further and further away from the bakery department. He looked up at his father, lips quivering, but Zayne continued to keep his sight ahead. The toddler slowly lowered his head, disappointed.
“Daddy…”
“Hmm?”
Zayne looked down, seeing his son was sulking. He smiled softly. “Do you want Daddy to hold you?”
The boy nodded and raised his arms up eagerly. Zayne chuckled. “Alright, alright, I will,” he said as he reached down to unbuckle the seatbelt. He lifted the boy out of his seat, and smiled as his son clung to him. He rubbed the toddler’s head gently. “Let’s hurry and finish shopping. Mommy’s waiting for these ingredients to make dinner.”
Zayne resumed shopping, one arm was carrying his son while his free hand pushed the cart and grabbed items from the shelves. When he was close to being done, he noticed his son had fallen asleep with his head resting on Zayne’s shoulder and his small fingers unconsciously rubbing at the material of his father’s coat. Smiling, Zayne, walked back over to the bakery department. He quietly motioned to the employee, pointing at the cake in the display.
He smiled gratefully as the employee handed him a small cakebox. He quickly finished shopping, paid for everything, and put them away in his car trunk.
Once he had returned the shopping cart to the store, he returned to his car, opening the back door and gently set his sleeping son in his car seat. As he buckled the toddler into his seat, Zayne quietly tapped his son’s shoulder.
“Wake up, sleepy head,” Zayne said softly, smiling at the little boy’s bleary eyes.
“Home?”
Zayne chuckled and shook his head. “Not yet,” he answered. He settled into the backseat and sat next to the child. The boy looked up confused.
“We can’t let Mommy know, alright?” Zayne said, pulling out a small cake box from a paper bag, his smile widening at his son’s bright eyes. “Our little secret, got it?”
The boy nodded eagerly. He gasped quietly when his father revealed the inside of the cake box. “Carrot cake!”
Zayne sighed in baffled amusement. “You look completely like me, but this…quirk…of yours…” He reached in and pulled out a small carrot cupcake, handing it to his son. He grabbed the other cupcake—a chai latte—and held the confection next to his son’s. They tapped the cupcakes together.
“Cheers!” both father and son said simultaneously.
The boy giggled and happily bit into his soft, sweet cupcake. Zayne smiled fondly, pleased to see his son’s smile again.
“You know, eating too many carrots will turn you orange,” Zayne warned teasingly.
“Like Windy Carrot?” the boy asked curiously, eyes growing wide.
“Almost,” Zayne said, laughing.
“Daddy?”
“Hmm?”
“…Will you still love me if I turn into a carrot?”
Zayne laughed again. He leaned down, nuzzling his face against his son’s before kissing his cheek. “I will never stop loving you…even if you were a carrot.”
The boy giggled again and turned to kiss his father’s cheek in return.
“I am certain you will be the only carrot I love,” Zayne added as he wiped the cream cheese frosting off his son’s mouth with his thumb. “Can’t leave behind any evidence, remember?”
The boy took the last bite of his cupcake, showing his hands to his father with a wide smile. “All gone! No evidence!”
Zayne finished his own cupcake, laughing. “All gone,” he repeated, “Our little secret from Mommy.”
The boy motioned with his finger over his mouth, shushing quietly. “Secret!”
“Good boy,” Zayne said, kissing the top of his son’s head. “Now let’s get home and help Mommy with dinner.”

a/n: my bad for taking so long.. enjoy & as always, i apologize if you hate this!
part 1 | part 2
SITTING in the Hospital Wing for the rest of your glamorous night was certainly not on your bucket list for the year.
You couldn't believe that while your friends were most likely on their next shot of Firewhiskey, there you were, sitting with an ice pack on your ankle and a yellow, now turning purple, bruise resting below it.
The scowl on your face couldn’t be more defined before a gentle squeeze on your forearm snapped you out of your angered thoughts.
A sweet, warm James sat beside you, his comforting smile as kind as ever. You gave him a shy smile in return, reluctant to admit that his presence made you feel just a little bit better.
"You know, you don’t have to stay here," You said, voice soft but sincere. "You don’t have to stay out of pity for me while the rest of our friends are probably on their fourth round of Truth or Dare." You snorted, trying to make light of it.
James lightly laughed, the sound warm and comforting. "I wanna be here," He replied sweetly, making your heart swell despite yourself. "I mean, I am partly to blame for your injury."
You snickered, raising an eyebrow. "Yeah, your vicious twirling of me is definitely what did it."
He yawned dramatically. "Yeah, I’m so strong," He flexed one arm with exaggerated pride, earning a laugh from you as you playfully swatted at him.
"Well, dearie!" Madame Pomfrey exclaimed, appearing suddenly from the patient beside you. "It seems it’s just a deep bruise—nothing a bit of Bruisewart Balm won’t fix," She stated, handing you the small jar of balm. "I’d recommend taking it easy on your feet for a day or two, but nothing too strenuous."
"Thank you, Madame Pomfrey," You smiled as she nodded and moved on to her next patient.
"And to prevent more bruising," Pomfrey added with a sly smile, "I’d recommend staying away from Mr. Potter over here."
James frowned. "Oh Pops, how you wound me!" He said dramatically, making Pomfrey roll her eyes and walk away.
The tension in the room lifted, but as James turned back to you, the air between you two shifted. You met his gaze, and for the first time, you noticed the way his eyes seemed to sparkle, how the dim light of the Hospital Wing made them look even more intense. You felt your heart race in your chest as he cleared his throat.
"Well, it seems like you won’t need to stay overnight," James said, a little too casually, his voice softer than usual. "May I help you hop back to your dorm m'lady?" His hand extended out for you.
You blinked at him, a little surprised at his suggestion. "What a gentleman," You mocked, though your voice was lighthearted as he helped you carefully get to your feet, his hand steady at your waist and the small of your back.
You both started down the hallway, his support a comforting presence as you tried to regain your balance on your injured ankle.
"You know Emma’s going to kill me, right?" You said with a dry chuckle.
James huffed in response, his arm still around you. "She’s really not as deadly as you all make her out to be," he said lightly.
You scoffed, shaking your head. "I think there’s a reason all the girls in sixth year have stayed away from you, and it isn’t because of your looks or personality."
James laughed, but there was a tinge of embarrassment in his eyes. "Well, she’s just really protective, you know?" He helped you adjust your step as you hopped slightly, trying to stay balanced. "She cares about me."
You raised an eyebrow. 'Protective doesn’t mean bat-shit crazy,' You thought to yourself.
"But I am sorry for how she’s been treating you," James continued, his voice turning a little more serious. "We broke up over it, you know?"
You didn’t know how to respond. You’d heard they’d had a fight, but you hadn’t realized it had escalated to that point.
"Over me?" you asked, a little surprised.
"Yeah," He nodded, his voice almost sheepish. "I know we haven’t talked much in the last couple of years, but you’ve always meant a lot to me, you know? So, when she gave me that choice—you or her—I thought it was a load of bollocks, but in the end, I think it was what we both needed. To take a step back, I mean."
You felt your stomach twist at his words. You knew their relationship had always been complicated, but hearing it from him like this was not what you had expected.
"And how did she take that?" You asked, trying to keep your voice even.
James’s face softened, but there was a faint trace of sadness in his expression. "She yelled. Cursed me out for a bit, slammed the door, and I haven’t seen her since."
You nodded, processing his words. You hoped to feel happy and to be excited, but you only felt sadness for James. Despite your dislike for Emma, he had seemed to actually enjoy her presence.
And all you ever wanted for James was for him to be happy even if it meant the literal Anti-christ being his girlfriend.
"Well," You said quietly, "I'm sorry to hear that."
James looked over at you, his lips curling into a soft smile. "Thanks."
The silence stretched between you two as you hobbled along the corridor. You could feel the weight of his words hanging in the air, and something about it made your heart beat a little faster.
"Can I ask you something?" You ventured, glancing up at him.
"Anything," James replied, his voice sincere.
"Why didn’t you ever... you know, talk to me about this before? You’ve been kind of distant, and—" You cut yourself off, not wanting to sound too accusatory.
James gave a small, rueful chuckle. "Guess I was just stupid, huh?" He looked over at you, his expression thoughtful. "I always figured things would work themselves out, and we would get closer in the future. But maybe I was wrong or just scared of Emma." He lightly laughed.
You didn’t quite know how to respond to that, so you stayed quiet for a moment, your mind racing. The conversation felt like it was drifting toward a place you weren’t sure you were ready for, but at the same time, a part of you felt like you needed the conversation.
As you approached the Gryffindor Tower entrance, you could see the Fat Lady’s portrait in the distance, and the familiar weight of the evening was starting to settle back into place.
"This is me," You said, trying to keep your tone light as you stopped in front of the portrait.
"Yeah," James replied softly, a bit quieter now like he didn’t want the moment to end. "But, you know, if you ever need anything—"
"I know where to find you," You said, a teasing smile playing on your lips.
James looked at you for a long moment, and for just a beat, it felt like everything between you two shifted again. His eyes were intense, but there was something more in them now, something that made your heart flutter.
"Yeah," he said, voice barely above a whisper, "You do."
You turned toward the Fat Lady, trying to mask the sudden rush of emotions coursing through you. You gave her the password, and as the portrait swung open, you took a last glance at James.
"Night, James," You said, your voice soft.
"Goodnight," he replied, his gaze lingering on you as you stepped inside.
And for a brief moment, you couldn’t help but wonder, maybe there was more to your friendship than you’d ever realized.
--
"He said what?!" Dorcas yelled excitedly, her voice carrying across the otherwise quiet Great Hall. You quickly shushed her, eyes darting around the room to make sure no one was watching. It was way too early for this kind of drama.
You had both decided to wake up an hour earlier than all the other girls for two very important reasons: 1) You didn’t trust Emma, and 2) You really didn’t trust Emma.
A few third-years glanced up from their breakfast, clearly curious about the outburst. You snorted, trying to hide your smile as you took another bite of toast.
"And what did you say?" Dorcas asked, her eyes practically sparkling with curiosity.
"Nothing," You muttered, refusing to meet her gaze as you stared off into the distance.
"What do you mean you said nothing?!" She questioned loudly, banging her hand against the table with enough force to rattle your plate.
You grabbed her hands quickly, trying to calm her down. "Stop doing that!" You whispered, sending apologetic glances to the third-years who were now staring openly at you.
"I just mean you had a perfect opportunity to get back at Emma, get Potter on your side, and you said nothing?!" Dorcas exclaimed, her voice rising with the excitement of her accusation.
You sighed, guilt twisting in your stomach. "I can’t do that to him, Dorc," You said quietly.
She stared at you for a long moment, clearly processing your words. There was a flash of realization in her eyes before she grinned, her voice dropping to a teasing whisper. "You like him!"
You felt your face heat up as you rolled your eyes. "I do not."
"You do," She sang, drawing out the words like she was taunting a child.
"I do not," You said firmly, refusing to let her win.
"But you do—"
"I do not!" You interrupted, suddenly shouting, not even bothering to care about the third years who were now openly staring at you.
Dorcas smirked in victory. "Yeah, sure you don’t."
You groaned, dropping your head into your hands. "This can’t be happening to me. It’s been one day since the plan was made!" You whined, half-exasperated, half-amused.
Dorcas gently pried your hands away from your face, her fingers rubbing soothing circles into your knuckles. "You can’t just hold your feelings in. If you like Potter, then so what?" She said gently, trying to comfort you. "Better than that evil witch."
You snorted at that. "I can't, Dorcas. I refuse to like someone who has the craziest ex-girlfriend in all of girlfriend history."
She sighed dramatically, looking at you as if you were the most difficult person in the world. "So what’s your master plan now, huh? Avoid him forever?"
You put on a fake, thoughtful face. "Avoid him," You pondered with a smile. "It’s the only option. Great idea, Dorc!"
Dorcas huffed, shaking her head as she took her hands away from yours. "Yeah, maybe just avoid him," She muttered, clearly not sold on your brilliant plan.
You laughed and stabbed a fork into your eggs. "Exactly."
Before Dorcas could reply, a voice slid in beside her, smooth and familiar. "Isn’t it the prettiest ladies I’ve had the honor of seeing as I awake?" Sirius Black drawled, grinning widely. Dorcas immediately shot him a disgusted look, scooting a few inches away from him.
"What do you want, Black?" You asked, already annoyed before he could even open his mouth again.
"Why do you treat me so horribly when I just want your love?" Sirius exclaimed dramatically, clutching his chest as if you had wounded him deeply.
You couldn’t help but laugh lightly at his antics.
"Are all of the Marauders this dramatic?" Dorcas asked, still eyeing Sirius in distaste.
"Believe it or not, yes," You confirmed, just as someone slid into the seat beside you.
"Good morning," James Potter greeted, flashing you that same sweet smile you had trouble getting out of your head.
You immediately felt a flutter in your chest. Your throat seemed to dry up as you turned to look at him. He looked radiant this morning—like the sun itself had decided to take residence in his smile.
You gulped, your brain scrambling for words. You quickly glanced at Dorcas, who gave you a subtle shake of her head, silently telling you not to do anything rash.
"Morning!" you rushed out, way too eager. You quickly gathered your things, mentally panicking. "I actually have to go study in the library for a while, so I’m just gonna go ahead." You stood quickly, trying to make your escape.
James stood up with you, looking at you with those shining eyes. "I can come with," He offered cheerfully, clearly not reading the room at all.
You shook your head rapidly, desperate to escape the conversation. "No, no! I’ll be fine!" you said a little too quickly, almost tripping over your own feet as you backed away. "I’ll just see you later."
James and Sirius exchanged a curious glance as you rushed off. You breathed a sigh of relief the moment you stepped out of the Great Hall and into the corridor.
Finally, peace and quiet.
But then you heard footsteps behind you. You glanced over your shoulder and saw James Potter jogging to catch up.
"Hey!" He called out, clearly not bothered by your earlier panic. "I decided to come with you since I’ve got nothing to do. Figured we could walk to class together after studying." He said it so cheerfully as if you hadn’t just escaped from his company a few moments ago.
You blinked, speechless. You hadn’t expected him to follow you. You didn’t think it would be this hard to get James Potter off your back.
He matched your pace, the two of you walking side by side in the silence that felt anything but comfortable.
And you couldn’t help but wonder, just for a moment, if your life had just become infinitely more complicated than you had planned.
"So, what did you need to study?" James asked, his hands casually tucked into his pockets as he looked at you with that easygoing grin of his.
You quickly scrambled for an answer, the pressure of his gaze making your mind race. "Astronomy!" You replied a bit too quickly, the excitement in your voice betraying your nerves.
"But you've always been good at Astronomy," James raised an eyebrow, his gaze skeptical as he studied you closely.
You tried to shrug it off, but your voice betrayed you. "I'm afraid the subject's been slowly slipping from me," You said, forcing a smile.
His face softened, the skepticism fading into a more understanding look. "Yeah, Professor Sinistra does tend to move quickly," He said, nodding in agreement. "I even tried to cast a time-slowing spell on her once just to get down all my notes."
You laughed, the image of James trying (and likely failing) to slow down the Professor amusing. "And what did you get in return?" you asked, a teasing grin playing on your lips.
"Two weeks of detention," He said, smirking as if the whole thing was just a funny memory. "Totally worth it though."
You giggled, the sound feeling lighter in your chest. "Of course it was."
You both walked in silence next to each other, making your way towards the library. You were glad that the silence was comfortable but a part of you still thought avoiding James was the best plan.
You went to sit at a table before James rushed over to you, pulling your chair out for you as you rolled your eyes, "Do you just want me to keep calling you a gentleman?"
"A bit," He shrugged as he sat down across from you.
You opened your textbook for Astronomy, actually deciding to do work since you were there anyways.
You noticed James making paper planes and attempting to get them to fly over your head. By the fourth one, it hit you square in the forehead, and you let out a dramatic sigh.
"Do you need me to give you a task?" You asked, eyeing him with a look that could only be described as 'toddler supervision.'
James rested his head on his palm, his gaze staring off into space. "I just think there are more exciting things we could be doing right now," He replied with a bored sigh.
"Like what?" You asked, raising an eyebrow and offering him a light smile.
He thought for a moment, then his eyes lit up with mischief. "I could teach you how to play Quidditch!"
You almost felt sick just hearing the words. You shook your head furiously. "I don't know about that," You said, looking back down at your textbook as if you could will the conversation away.
James grabbed your hand in an exaggerated plea. "Come on, it'll be fun!" He cheered, his enthusiasm making you laugh, but before you could say anything else, the librarian shushed him with a fierce look.
You giggled quietly, "Sorry, James, no," You said firmly, scribbling some notes in your textbook.
James pouted dramatically, laying his head down on the desk in defeat. You studied him for a few moments as he huffed, like a child who hadn't gotten his way.
You rolled your eyes, unable to resist the pull of his antics. "I'm not falling for this."
He continued to pout, his face scrunched in exaggerated misery. He pretended to sniffle dramatically, looking up at you with his big hazel eyes.
"No, James, I mean it," You said, trying to keep your tone firm, but the warmth in your voice betrayed you.
--
And next thing you knew, you were on the Quidditch field.
You yelped loudly as you clung to James’s waist, the wind rushing in your face as he zoomed higher into the sky. "We haven't even made it into the air yet!" James laughed excitedly, clearly having the time of his life as you panicked.
"This is still really high!" You cried out, your grip tightening around him. You dared a glance down and saw the ground growing smaller and more distant by the second.
"Close your eyes, I’ve got you!" James shouted reassuringly, though it still sounded somehow delicate, soothing you.
With a deep breath, you squeezed your eyes shut and gripped him even tighter. The wind whipped around you, but James’s steady hold kept you grounded—physically, at least. When you opened your eyes, the sensation of rising fast into the air filled you with a mix of excitement and dread.
James cheered as you both soared, flipping through the air and spiraling in wide, dizzying motions. You screamed, the wind filling your lungs with cold, sharp air.
But then, as if sensing your panic, James calmed things down, steering the broom to glide slowly over the Black Lake.
You exhaled a long breath, your heart rate slowing as you took in the view. From this height, the lake looked more beautiful than you'd ever seen it before, its surface sparkling in the early morning light.
You rested your cheek against his back, staring down at the glistening water below. "This is really pretty," You murmured, surprised at how peaceful it felt up here.
James chuckled lightly. "It's one of my favorite things to look at when I ride." He smiled, but you could feel his warmth, even through the rush of wind. When you lifted your head to look at him, he glanced back with a grin that seemed to make your heart skip a beat.
"Is this where you disappear to during Quidditch games when you're supposed to be looking for the snitch?" You joked, a teasing lilt in your voice.
James's eyes widened dramatically. "You've figured me out!" he yelled, a laugh bursting from him before he abruptly swerved the broom again, causing you both to spiral upward with another whoosh of wind.
You screamed as you were whipped through the air, but James’s laughter was all you could hear. He cheered as the wind carried you higher, and you couldn’t help but laugh, even as you felt the thrill and panic collide inside you.
Seeing James so excited, gliding through the air, eased most of your fear. His laughter, the way he moved so effortlessly—it was impossible not to feel lighter in his presence.
You hadn’t realized until now how much you wanted to see someone smile like that, so carefree and alive. His joy was infectious, and it made you feel like maybe you were starting to enjoy this too.
James’s grin widened when he saw the way you were watching him. “See? Told you it’s fun up here,” he said, his voice full of that same infectious enthusiasm. He spun the broom gently, making you feel the rush of wind again, and for the first time, you didn’t mind it.
You met his gaze, a soft smile tugging at your lips. “Yeah, it’s amazing up here,” You admitted.
James’s smile softened as he gently lowered both of you to the ground. You carefully dismounted the broom, your legs still a little shaky from the ride.
As James went to put the broom back in its rightful place, you glanced at your watch—(yes, you had actually bought one)—and your heart dropped. "Shit! James, we’re going to be late!" You yelled, rushing toward him.
He immediately sprinted over as you tossed his bag at him with a hurried "Sorry!" You grabbed yours, slinging it over your shoulder before running up the stairs.
After what felt like an eternity of climbing, you stopped at the first landing to catch your breath.
James huffed, leaning on the railing. "Maybe we should just skip," He suggested, looking at you with a mischievous glint.
You shot him a death glare as the stairs shifted back into place, urging him to hurry. "Not an option, Potter!"
You both barely made it to class, arriving two minutes late. Professor Adair gave you both a disappointed look and gestured to the empty seats in the front. The entire class seemed to turn toward you, exchanging curious glances.
James leaned over and whispered, "Hey, you did great today."
You flushed, feeling a little flustered. "Thanks," You mumbled, half of you still recovering from the flying.
"Think I can have a spot on the team?" You asked, grinning at him.
James grinned back. "Oh, for sure. Your flying skills are impeccable," He said, his tone light and teasing.
"Be careful, Potter. I might take your spot as Seeker." You nudged him, half-joking, but his hand squeezed your thigh lightly in response.
You were about to respond when you saw your friends walking toward you, with Emma trailing behind them. The glare she shot you could've melted stone, and you couldn't help but feel a bit of unease.
"And why were you two late?" Lily asked, her voice mock-stern.
"Well, Mom, we were out flying," James said with a dramatic pout, making you laugh.
Lily looked at you, wide-eyed. "You went flying?"
"How did you make her do that?" Remus asked, half-sitting on his chair in front of you as Sirius snored, head resting on his shoulder.
"I don’t think I’ve ever even seen Y/N jump ," Marlene chimed in, snickering.
You shot her a look, but the corner of your lips twitched. "It was a one-time thing."
"Oh, yeah?" James smirked, nudging you with his shoulder. "I think there’s still more flying to do," He teased, and you giggled.
Your friends exchanged suspicious glances, but Emma’s sour expression cut through the moment. She stepped forward, eyes fixed on James, her voice syrupy sweet. "Well, we’re thinking about going to Hogsmeade tonight," she said, ignoring you completely.
"Sounds fun," You said casually, but Emma’s smile faltered slightly.
Sirius yawned, not looking up from where he was practically asleep on Remus’s shoulder. "So, are you two in?"
James looked at you with a grin. "If M’lady is."
"Sure, why not?" You responded lightly.
Emma looked like she was about to cast the Killing Curse right there, but she held it together, forcing a fake smile. "Great, it’s a date," She said, her eyes burning into you.
You had a feeling that tonight was going to be very interesting.

and they were roommates pt. 4
pairing : Spencer Reid x fem!student!roommate!reader summary : 2.3k word count : your experience with the unsub warning : canon-typical violence (it gets a bit gory, torture-ish, implied sexual violence), swear words > read at your own risk, you are responsible for the media you consume A/N : thank you all for the support and love on this omggg <333 Emily's a tiny bit of a bitch in this one, whoopsie. y/n cries the whole time, I figured that was what I would do. would you guys like a part 5, maybe Spencer taking care of y/n after such a traumatic experience? some comfort after hurt?
part 1, part 2, part 3
Tumblr media
The first thing you noticed when you came to your senses was the throbbing in the back of your head. Your first reflex was to bring your hand up to where you were sure to find blood, but you couldn’t move either of your arms. Opening your eyes wearily, you noticed that your wrists were restrained, binding you to an old wooden chair.  “What the-“ Your heart rate picked up as the memory of being hit over the head came back to you. Frantically looking around, your breathing started getting short and ragged when you realised your surrounding were wholly unfamiliar to you. You jerked your wrists to the sides, hoping that maybe the tight ropes would untie themselves.
“Don’t tire yourself out,” an icy voice drawled from a dark corner. You could barely hear over the sound of the blood rushing in your ears. You cursed yourself when he stepped out of the shadows, greasy locks pushed behind his ears. You should have told Spencer. You should have known.
His face was barely visible in the dim light. The smell of dust and mold which clung to the room suited him well. His gaze on you made you feel dirty and you hated it. You examined the enclosed space you were in and realised you were in an abandoned art room on campus. You'd discovered it once with your friends by accident, years ago. Art supplies, canvases and desks were strewn about in a careless manner. You tried not to think too much about the blood dotting the floor in multiple places.
"Why did you bring me here?" you asked, doing your best to remain calm. He was clearly unstable and you didn't want to trigger him if you could help it. “Don't worry about that, just know you’re not getting out of here any time soon, honey.” He smiled, a frightening grimace, and licked his lips. Nausea clouded your senses for a second. Tears gathered on your waterline. “Oh yes, I will.” Your voice shook as you spoke and you hated how weak you sounded. His brows raised and he let slip a little, mocking laugh. It made your skin crawl. A tear slipped down your cheek and, humiliatingly, you couldn't wipe it away. “And why do you think that?” he asked, feigning interest. You scowled at him. “The FBI is going to find you, you sick fuck. If they couldn't before this, they definitely will now."
Your head whipped to the side as he slapped you across the face. He bent down, placing his face mere centimetres from yours. Another tear fell from your eye as you felt your cheek sting and then get uncomfortably warm. “You stupid bitch,” he snarled. “You better watch your tone. You actually think they’ll find you? That's cute." You swallowed, opting to stay silent.
Tumblr media
Spencer knew something had happened as soon as Hotch stepped into the room. Over the years, he'd learned how his boss functioned and how to separate all the micro-expressions he used before assembling them back together and interpreting them. Today, he could tell something was seriously wrong.
He hadn't even thought of you at first. In his mind, you were safe. The unsub had been arrested and proof was being searched for. The guy fit the profile and the profile never lied. So why did Hotch ask him to sit down?
"W- what?" "I think you may want to sit down for this." Spencer was getting agitated, he didn't like being kept out of the information loop. "Hotch, just tell us what's going on," pressed Morgan, brows drawn together. "You know how we asked all the professors to contact us immediately if anyone fitting the victimology didn't show up for class?" "Yeah," Emily nodded, urging Hotch on. "We got a call." The Unit Chief's eyes fell on Spencer and the latter knew what he was going to say before the words were uttered. "Spencer, Y/N's professor said she didn't show up to class this morning."
"O-okay, wait, that doesn't mean anything, we arrested a guy, she could just not be feeling well," Emily spoke hastily, concerned about the look on Spencer's face. "No, we must have the wrong-" Spencer was interrupted by Morgan: "Wait a second, the profile says-" "I don't care what the profile says, Morgan! Y/N's first class today is Germanic Ethos and Christian Faith in Medieval Literature, that's her favourite class, she's never missed it in the entire semester! And she was feeling well this morning, we had breakfast together and she would have told me if not! Clearly, we have the wrong guy!"
Silence reigned for a short moment after Spence's outburst. The entire team was left speechless by his behaviour, which was entirely unprecedented. Spencer ran a hand through his hair, letting out a small sigh. "I- Can you try calling her at least? Before we jump to any conclusions." Emily crossed her arms over her chest. Spencer sent her a dark look before whipping out his phone and pressing on the first name in his contact list. He put it on speaker and let it ring.
Tumblr media
"No, no, please," you sobbed, "no more! Please! No, stop!"
Your voice was raw from screaming. Judging by the three shallow cuts he left on your right shoulder, the unsub enjoyed seeing your blood pearl and run down your skin. He also revelled in watching you writhe and scream in pain. "What did I tell you? Shut the fu-" He raised his hand in the air and you flinched away by reflex only to find the blow never came. You held your breath.
"I'm breaking dishes up in here all night, uh uh! I ain't gon' stop until I see police and lights, uh uh! I'm a fight a man tonight, I'm a fight a man-"
Oh, the irony. You didn't know whether to bless or curse Rihanna. "What the fuck is this?!" he roared, swivelling sharply on his feet to press the blade of his bloody knife into your cheek. You whimpered quietly. You couldn't help but think of all the infections you would be vulnerable to because of his dirty and rusted weapon. How could someone have so little care for basic hygiene? "It's- It's my ringtone! It's just my ringtone!"
"A man, a man, a ma-a-a-an! A man, a man, a ma-a-a-an!"
"You little bitch," he hissed, quickly untying your hands and grabbing your throat. He lifted you up by the neck and slammed you into the nearest wall, yelling about what a deceiving, conniving whore you were. You cried out in pain, desperately pulling at his hand which was wound tight around your throat. "You think your little friends are going to come and get you?!" he mocked, smushing your cheeks with his other hand. "Tough luck, doll, you're all alone and you're going to-" "Wait!" you spluttered, "Wait!" Your vision had begun going blurry but your mind remained intact. "If- If I don't answer, they'll know something's wrong! And then they'll send everyone out looking for me, for you!"
His grip on your throat lessened and you coughed, forcing air back into your lungs. Your eyes burned with tears. "What does it matter to you?" "Look- I- It doesn't matter, my ringtone is about to stop! And they'll come for sure!" Making a split-second decision, he stomped over to where he'd thrown your bag and sweater carelessly on the ground. You slid down onto the floor, wiping at your eyes. Hastily ruffling through your bag, he pulled your phone out after a second. You lamented all the flyaway papers you'd annotated with bright and lively colours now most likely stained with grime and blood. The unsub answered the call and roughly pressed the phone against your ear. You winced.
"O-Oh, Y/N! It's Spencer, are you alright?!" Big, fat tears rolled down your cheeks at the comforting sound of Spencer's voice. You wanted nothing more than to be near him, away from this living hell. If anyone could understand a message and find you, Spencer could. You were painfully aware of the little time you had left before the unsub got on with his routine and got rid of you. You cleared your throat, wanting to appear natural. "Hey! Yeah, I'm- I'm fine, I'm heading for my Wax Tablet Workshop, we are going to look at how writing on wax is art which has been abandoned by scholars, like universities." "O- Okay, sweets, I'll come get you after class okay? We can go for a coffee together!" "Sounds great, Spence!"
The unsub threw your phone onto the ground next to you and crushed it with his foot. You let your tears fall freely. Spencer had understood. He was coming.
Tumblr media
"That was a hidden message, she doesn't have a Wax Tablet Workshop. It's not even a course the university offers." Spencer's brain was working even faster than usual. The BAU team had never seen him like this before. "Garcia, look for all abandoned locations on university campus. Maybe a classroom?" he urged.
The sound of a keyboard typing incredibly fast was heard on the speaker. "I've got one." Penelope's voice was urgent and contained no trace of its usual lightness. "There's an abandoned art studio on the East side of the campus. I'm sending you the address now."
"Let's go," ordered Hotch.

You'd never wear shorts again. Exhausted, beaten, bruised and tied to a chair, you didn't have the energy to do anything more than move your knee when he trailed his finger along it. You were starting to lose hope. There was no clock in sight, but you could guess your time would soon be up. Some part of you wanted to give up. You knew if Spencer were here, he'd tell you to keep fighting, to keep hoping. But you were tired, so, so tired.
You suspected you had a concussion from when he'd knocked out and when he'd slammed you into the wall. Your vision was blurry. Although, maybe that was due to the tears. They hadn't stopped coming since he'd first slapped you. But when his cold hand found your thigh and squeezed it roughly, the kindling fire in you regained strength. No. You would rather die than suffer whatever else he had planned for you. As he started moving his repulsive mouth towards you, you jerked your knee upwards, hard, right into his groin. He roared in pain and doubled over, stumbling backwards.
"Stay the fuck back!" you screamed hysterically. "Don't you dare fucking touch me, you psycho!" He met your eyes with a frenzied look you'd never seen before and pounced on you. The chair you were sitting on shattered with a loud noise and you screamed, finding yourself lying on top of splintery wood pieces. As he brought his arm upwards, knife facing downwards, towards you, you closed your eyes. You didn't want him to be the last thing you saw. You thought of all the good things in your life, your family, Spencer, Geoffrey, Spencer, your friends, Spencer,...

"Put it down!!!" bellowed a familiar voice. "Put it down now!" You opened your eyes. The door behind you had been broken down. FBI agents flooded the room, all aiming their guns at the man on top of you. His eyes darted frantically between Agent Morgan, whose voice you'd recognised, and two other agents you couldn't see.
"I want a deal!" the unsub cried out, "I want a deal!" "No deal," a deeper, more authoritative voice spoke. The unsub raised his arm again, preparing to strike. You closed your eyes.
BAM!
To this day, you didn't think the unsub expected to be shot. You figured he was expecting to be imprisoned. You didn't see the look on his face when he was shot, only felt the dead weight of his body falling on top of you.
Shrieking hysterically, you struggled frantically to move his corpse off you. Someone shoved him off you, promising you in a soothing voice that you were safe.
"Spencer." His name had never been spoke like that before. It was a haunting sob, a cry for help. He was at your side immediately, ridding you of the ropes around your wrists and pulling you away from the broken chair.
It was only when he called your name a third time that you finally found your grasp on reality again. Spencer pulled you into his arms, being careful not to squeeze you too tight. You wrapped your arms around him, burying your face in his shoulder. The comforting smell of him, of home, engulfed and grounded you. "It's okay," he cooed softly, lips brushing your ear, "you're safe now, he can't hurt you anymore." "Call an ambulance," you heard someone order in the distance. Sobbing hard into Spencer's shoulder, you pulled him impossibly closer to you. "I'm so sorry," you bawled, "I had seen him before on c- campus, like- like your boss said but I didn't want to tell you! I thought he was an- an exchange student!" Spencer shushed you, hands still shaking from taking the shot he took with no hesitation. This would be one of the kills he wouldn’t loose any sleep over. "You have nothing to be sorry for, sweetheart, you did everything right, I promise you."
"I- I didn't do what you always say," you hiccuped sadly, mouth moving against the material of his sweater vest, staining it with blood and tears. It was an article of clothing which would be ruined for both of you. Spencer would give it to charity a week later, you wouldn't miss it. "I didn't play into his fantasy, I kept telling him you were going to find me, and he was so angry!" "Baby." This was the first he'd called you that. It stopped you in your tracks. "Listen to me, you did everything right. You may not still be alive if you'd played into his fantasy. You were perfect, I promise. Just breathe, now, alright? You’re okay." "Are- are you sure?" "Yes, baby, I'm sure."

he never should've gone to the bar. never should've let you run your pretty mouth. most definitely never should've bought you that martini. every weekend he watches you seduce the men at the bar until one of them falls into your trap.
logan would scoff, mumbling something under his breath about how stupid that bastard must be. despite the fact that the only thing holding him back from your advances was the thick gold band on his finger, reminding him of where his loyalty should be.
"lovely seeing you here again, logan."
he loathed your wicked smile and how your voice sounded like rain fall. trying his best to avoid staring into the eye of the storm but your presence demanded to be seen. practically ripping his hazel gaze off the wooden table and over to that tiny dress you were wearing. dark navy tight against your skin in a way that could make any man sin.
"missed ya' last weekend." you purr. "where were you at?"
"home." he states, gruffly.
"that's boring. why were you at home?"
"wedding anniversary."
the words made your tummy flip with excitement. you didn’t know much about logan outside of his favorite brands of alcohol, but you did know that he had a wife at home. he never mentioned her by name. sometimes, she would call the bar if it was “too late” for him to be out but other than that, she was a ghost.
“cute. you should bring her here one weekend.” you propose, almost making logan choke on his whisky. “bet she would love to see where you run and hide at night.”
“it’s not her kinda scene.” he responds.
“aw, i’m sure we would be friends.”
“doubtful.”
“and why’s that?” you fake pout.
logan leans in close before whispering, “don’t think she would appreciate you beggin’ for her husband to fuck you in a dirty bar bathroom every weekend.”
“i didn’t say we would stay friends.” you giggle, making his cock stir in his work pants. “also, the invite is still open if you miss fuckin’ someone younger.”
the second you are out of sight, off in the pool room next door annoying some other asshole, he groans under his breath. logan hated how well you read him. you knew he wanted you but you were smart enough to make him come crawling to you if he wanted to feel your tight cunt wrapped around him.
after a couple minutes, a few men left the room and logan got up to take their place. when he walked inside he saw it was empty except for you sitting in one of the chairs on your phone.
“glad you decided to join me.” you smile up at him.
logan ignores you instead going over to get a stick and start playing. you finish your martini and join him as he sets up the balls. catching you off guard, he tosses you a stick too.
“if i win, you leave me alone for good.” he huffs in your face.
“sure but what do i get when i win?” you smirk.
logan ignores your question and growls, “ladies first.”
it's dead silent as you bend over the pool table to line your stick up to the diamond. logan's far too busy staring at the wet spot on your light blue panties. he never admit it, even if you knew for sure that's where his eyes were. it wasn't until he lost sight of the spot that he realized you already took your shot.
"your turn, old man." you tease, moving out of his way.
the two of you go back and forth for a bit but you were growing tired of this game. instead you decided to make things even more interesting.
"so when i win, are you going to finally fuck me?" your bluntness always left logan speechless.
"you already know the answer to that, sweetheart." he replies, trying to focus before shooting.
"sure, blah, blah, blah, something wife." you mock with an eye roll that almost made logan chuckle. "but seriously? when was the last time you two had sex? you probably got cobwebs in there."
that got a small smirk out of him. one that you count as a win.
"it's just a band. it comes off, see?" you lean over and take the ring off of his finger, placing it on the table.
logan stared at it for too long. feeling the distance of his commitments. you turn his head towards you with a light hook on his grey bearded chin. the lust in his eyes told you that you had won.
"you know what else comes off that easily?" you whisper, lips inches from his. "my panties."
a good man would've walked away. a good man would've returned home to his wife. but logan wasn't a good man. never had been and never would be.
an animalistic urge fell over him, grabbing you with the ease of a rag doll and bending you over the pool table. the wedding band was inches from your parted lips, moaning prettily as logan spread you open with his thumbs and licked a wide strip up your cunt, burying his face in your arousal and letting it coat his beard until he could only taste you.
"f-fuck me." logan groans, pulling back to catch his breath. "taste better than i imagined."
"knew you wanted me." you smirk, feeling his middle finger circle your entrance before pushing in. a loud moan is pulled from your throat as he hits that spongey spot with ease.
"weren't lying 'bout being tight." logan marvels, watching the way you suck in his finger.
he attempts to push in his ring finger as well and you wish you could've seen his face while he struggle to get it in. quickly, you reach for the wedding ring next to you then grab his hand from inside you. fumbling to get the ring back on him before he questions you.
"what are you—"
"go on." you coax, looking back at him with dark eyes. "try it now."
logan shouldn't have been so turned on from the image of his wedding ring coated in your slick; but here he was watching it disappear and reappear inside of you.
"right—fuck! r-right there..." you pant, arching farther back to meet his thrusts.
"does it turn you on being a homewreaker?" logan asks, back up on his feet and nibbling at your ear. "knowing that you have a old married man fucking you with his wedding band on?"
"mhm..." you mumble against the table. he takes the opportunity to pick up his pace, feeling you clench down. "d-don't stop..."
within seconds, your gushing around his fingers and dripping down his hand. right when he pulled out of you, you turn around and push him back into one of the plush chairs to undo his belt. falling to your knees, you begin to stroke him, tracing his veins with your tongue and tapping the tip on it.
"always knew you had quite the mouth on ya', princess." he grunts with a fist full of your hair.
you smile, taking him all the way until his tip hit the back of your throat and the hairs at his base tickled your nose. logan was finding it harder and harder to control his animalistic urge while your gagging and drooling all over his lap. quickly, you release him with a pop and stand up to straddle him, lining him up to your entrance and sinking down slowly.
"shit, you're so fucking tight." he says, gripping your hips hard enough to leave bruises.
"only for you, logan." you whine, grinding down on him, rocking back and forth.
roughly, logan pulls the rest of your dress off of you, throwing it on the floor somewhere behind you. large hands touching you all over in ways you've only dreamt of. meanwhile, your attacking his neck like a madwoman. biting and marking him up like he's yours.
desperately, logan fucks up into you, needing more. his tip nudges that sweet spot within you, making you moan loudly in his ear, encouraging him to go faster. so focused on the squealing of your soaked pussy. he captures your lips, kissing you tenderly. you can feel his high approaching, twitching inside of you, and you needed to do one last thing before it hit him.
carefully you pull away, gripping his chin and pulling him face to face with you. his eyes are blown out with desire as he stares at you.
"tell me your mine, lo." you whisper against his lips.
logan can feel you clench tightly around him, waiting for him to give into you completely. he presses his thumb down on your button, moving in fast circles to get you there with him.
"f-fuck, i'm yours, baby." he moans, coating your walls with spurts of his release. "i'm yours."
"t-that's right." you moan, kissing him roughly as your high washes over you.
"you look so pretty like this." he coos, watching the pleasure run over you.
for a moment the two of you sit still, trying to catch your breath. logan's mind races, not meaning to cum inside of you but it's far too late now.
"lets keep this a secret between the two of us, huh?" he says while you play with his hand, mischievously. before he can notice, you pocket the ring.
"sure thing, baby." you reply. "i'll gladly be your little secret but have fun explaining those marks to the old ball and chain."
logan looks down at you and that wicked smile of yours, only to realize just how fucked he is.
