A frame from my trip to Hyde Mill back in May. I knew the milky way was going to be up later at night but checked Photopills to verify and figure out exactly what time. This is actually a single frame from my timelapse that I took. I have a couple small Lume Panels behind me that's lighting the scene. Even though there's some light pollution from some near by towns it's still pretty dark there. The gear I used here was.... More SGI computers

I got some new SGI computers. I was surprised because I thought the SGI guys from the Czech Republic gave me all their leftovers. I had to go to one of the original SGI offices in Brno this time. The office design was very 90s and there were classic SGI artworks on the walls. All the people there are now HPE employees but many of them started there working for SGI when every employee had an Indy or O2 on their desk.

The “loot” contains:

Two SGI O2 / MIPS R5000 / 2x SCSI HDD / the one with the older logo has an analog AV module installed

SGI Visual Workstation 320 / 1x Pentium II / a basic configuration with an IDE HDD

SGI Challenge / MIPS R5000 / basically an Indy without audio ports and a graphics card

Two sets of keyboards and mice, the PS/2 one is for O2 and the USB one for SGI 320

Al final del día, UNIX salva el día!

Alguien recuerda que el la película original de Jurassic Park, Lexi, la niña grita "es UNIX! Yo sé UNIX!" y salva a todos?

Bien, ese sistema gráfico si existió, el sistema operativo era IRIX, para los ordenadores de Silicon Graphics y la herramienta era FSN (Fusion se pronunciaba).

Fsn, era una herramienta de sistema de archivos que le hacían llamar "un navegador de archivos para el ciberespacio"

El software está en Internet Archive (y en GitHub ) y solo funciona en IRIX 5.3 y versiones anteriores y aún es descargable si tienes este ordenador con ese SO.

Si deseas una experiencia similar, el software ' fsv ' busca recrear el entorno de un sistema Linux con X Windows, OpenGL y tarjeta gráfica 3D. También hubo una versión para Mac (8 al 9.2 con OpenGL).

¿Conoces un navegador de archivos hoy en día con idea similar para cualquier plataforma?
