Tumblr media
SOMETIMES you think that you had to do something very terrible in your old life, something unforgivable and unimaginable to be punished right now, sometimes you think that the easiest thing would be to bang your head against the wall until you are stupid enough to have a caregiver and stop worrying about many things.
You just wanted to help your parents with the family business, being a time of high demand in the hostelry sector, taking advantage of your school holidays, you loved your family very much and helping in the business was the least you could do.
But the moment a group of children come in screaming excitedly and running from one side to the other you lost your nerve, yes, they are kids celebrating a birthday, but so much activity, noise and annoyance made a vein swell on your forehead, you were reaching the limit, but at least there were only a couple of hours left to be able to close and surreptitiously remove the last people with brooms.
You swore you were losing years and hair, that the minutes passed slower and slower as if you were stuck in an endless hour.
"I think if you keep squeezing the tray like that you'll break it, honey."
Your mother squeezed your shoulder, you turned to look at her, she was behind the bar, cleaning with a cloth while she glanced at you from time to time, she certainly knew how to detect when you were losing your temper, after all she saw you have many crises nervous before.
"Sorry, you know I can't stand so much movement and annoying noises, it's exhausting."
"Oh, I think you can go home if you want, you've done enough for today miss."
A new voice joined in, your father made way with a couple of plates, he left them on the bar to place his hands on your shoulders and rub circles on them, calming you with his touch, you smiled in agreement, your mood improving as you heard that you can go home once and for all, they wouldn't have much work at this hour.
"Don't forget the jacket love, it's already night and it's cold outside!"
"I know mom, bye, love you two!"
You shouted as you were already walking through the door, you waved to both of them before walking out onto the lonely streets, luckily your house wasn't too far from the family business. Without wasting time you grabbed your faithful life companions, your headphones, connecting them to your phone to listen to music at a ridiculously high volume. You let music be your final destination, if you ever suffer an accident, at least it'll be listen to something you like.
Moving your head slightly to the rhythm of the sound, looking at the ground as your legs moved on their own, knowing the way back by heart, you concentrated on drowning out the thoughts leaving your mind blank, it wasn't very difficult since you barely had enough active neurons at this time to have too deep thoughts.
"Huh?"
Some mist came out of your mouth when you felt something tiny cling to your leg, confused, you looked down with a blank look and an imperturbable face, you saw like a kind of fairy-bug, a strange thing was sticking to your leg, looking at you with eyes of a kicked dog. Oh yeah, you started seeing these kinds of creatures, monsters, whatever they are, a couple of months ago when you decided to walk into a 'witchcraft' shop just because a bracelet seemed cute to you.
When you wanted to question the old woman who sold it to you ─after checking that you hadn't spent too much time on the Internet to be hallucinating─ she was no longer there, as if she had disappeared from the face of the earth, no one seemed to remember her except of you.
You grimaced, holding the little thing carefully, pushing it away from you as if you had just taken unidentified food out of the sink after having washed the dishes, without hesitation you threw it like it was a snot, you didn't even hear the squeal that came from it as it crashed to the ground because you hadn't turned the music down.
You continued your path, ignoring how more of those monsters began to appear, larger ones, with more or less human shapes, you didn't know if you had reached the point of emotional exhaustion that you no longer cared about those things, or you were so desensitized to certain things that you barely changed your expression.
"Help
 help please
 my son- oh- it burns
"
Your feet stopped suddenly, almost falling face first to the ground as you felt one of those monsters cling to your arm like an old woman crossing the street with a helper, looking at you with tears flowing down her cheeks, murmuring things you wouldn't understand if you weren't able to read lips, her hand went higher and higher, absorbing your body in a kind of wrestling-like lock-hug.
If you could you would pinch the bridge of your nose, you started to struggle with the woman, she started screaming the further you got away from her, you cursed silently when you couldn't get her off. This was it, the only thing that bothered you about seeing strange things was that they clung to you as if you were some kind of helper or salvation, you are not a saint, you are not a savior, you were nobody, but they kept coming to you like bees to pollen.
"Looks like you need some help"
You turned your head slowly, dramatizing the side eye you gave to that familiar voice, you heard by chance because of the song change and the small silence, but you could feel his presence for miles. Your frown deepened as you saw the albino look at you with a smile, oh, not only did you have to deal with these curses on your own, as if that were not enough, being one of the few people capable of perceiving these things certain people became interested in you. Sorcerers, it was funny, you didn't believe in magic until you saw this albino lunatic exorcise a curse in front of your eyes, even though you were somewhat skeptical, you refused to attend his institute, but they kept showing up to persuade.
"No, I can take care of this."
"Aw sure, go ahead then, I want to see how you do it."
This time you didn't listen to shit, but his shit eating smile told you everything you wanted to know, you started to struggle with the cursed woman again, it didn't work until you started talking to her. You found it was easier if you tried to give comforts to the poor cursed souls, and you had to do it reluctantly on these types of occasions, removing your headphones for greater concentration. You were terrible at comforting people, so it was like an uphill climb to get that curse to leave you alone.
"And that was ten minutes, you could have done it in twenty seconds if you knew how to use cursed energy."
"Just get lost, I already said no."
"We are offering you free knowledge, how can you refuse it?"
"Aren't public schools there for that?"
"There are no exorcization courses that I know of."
You rubbed your face desperately, you didn't want to learn sorcery, you didn't want to get in trouble, you didn't want to have to comfort anyone, you wanted your simple life, helping your parents, studying, getting a decent job. What kind of future would guarantee you knowing how to control that cursed energy? Clearly nothing good.
"I'm going to put it another way
you attract cursed energy, until now you have been lucky enough to find desperate souls in search of comfort, but what will happen when something much worse is stalking you? Something that seeks blood, your blood."
"Then I'll die, isn't it obvious?"
You raised your thumb with a sarcastic smile, you were too tired to continue a conversation, unfortunately Gojo's next words resonated in your head like a scratched record.
"What if they were your parents? They will not be safe by your side, as I said you attract bad energies."
A lump formed in your throat, letting a shaky breath escape your lips, he watched in silence as he had managed to hit your weak spot, your family, it was something you wouldn't change for the world, they were people who would die for you without a second thought, and just like them, you would give your life for them, they showered you with love and affection, the least you could do was protect them from your own problems.
As annoying as it was to give Gojo an affirmative answer, you had to swallow your pride for a greater reason, and just a week later you were already making the move. Covered as a kind of “Erasmus”, your parents were happy that you were going to explore and meet friends on your own, you wanted to tell them that you didn't want to go, that they would refuse to allow that decision, but that wasn't the case.
Then began what seemed like torture for you, as if you had fallen into a spider web and the more you struggled, the more you got caught in the webs. It was strange, everyone there seemed to have knowledge about who you were and where you came from while you were completely uninformed, it felt strange to be greeted so warmly by unknown people, inside you it was stressful to receive such a degree of attention, but you kept your expression unfazed.
You were like an extension of Megumi, only less expressive and definitely more stupid, you had no thoughts beyond your lost eyes staring into space, nothing made you flinch, nothing made you laugh, nothing made you have a hint of emotion that wasn't nervousness or tiredness. And yet the three first-year students, your classmates, could hear how you tried to drown out your nightly sobs, longing for your home and your family, how you secretly laughed lightly when you saw something stupid on your phone. Why didn't you want to share your emotions with them? Weren't they good enough for you?
You don't know what you triggered by strictly trying not to get emotionally close to people who from one day to the next could be in a grave, just because you couldn't stand it, just because you couldn't stand giving up more parts of your little heart to have them break later.
Itadori started to stick to you like a sticker, are you going for a walk? He needs to stretch his legs, do you want to laze around? He too! He is new to this world of curses like you, so he thinks it is better that you help each other in the face of complications and training. The first time he saw how a curse clung to you for comfort it almost gave him a seizure, he would never think he would be able to exorcise something so quickly, it worried him how used you were to being 'attacked' like that constantly and it only increased his worry, he needed to keep you safe from this dangerous world, it was a promise.
Megumi felt sorry, unlike him you had a normal and happy family, people to turn to, a little envious, he wasn't going to lie, but he tried to make you as comfortable as possible, maybe a little too paranoid about your well-being now that you were a novice unwilling to learn, he felt like he was your big brother, he wasn't going to take an eye off you even for a second, you could get hurt or worse and he had already experienced the bitter feeling.
Nobara was persistent that you open up to her, after all girls should be close, maybe she got too obsessed with that phrase when she watched suspiciously as Itadori dragged you to do something stupid ─against your will but without the energy of to refuse─ and you weren't going with her to have a snack or shopping, she felt a pang in her heart, what if she's not there and something happens? She doesn't trust anyone to take care of you, everyone is inept in her eyes.
Gojo proclaimed himself your fake father, no matter how hard he tried, he would in no way replace the real one, but if he wanted to play the family game you would let him if that made him happy. His attitude was the one that bothered you the most because it made you look like a helpless person at his side, he made you look like you needed him to take care of you. You accepted being the weakest link, but you could fight your own battles, especially after discovering some of your abilities, but he wouldn't allow it, you're too adorable to let go.
After some tests, missions and training, they discovered that your cursed energy acted like an antenna, attracting all curses that wanted to be forgiven or sought freedom. You were cursed with the 'gift' of forgiving and freeing from torture curses that wanted to cease to exist, and you acted as a peacemaker on some occasions. Luck was definitely not on your side or it was kicking you for having laughed at so many other people's sorrows on the internet, couldn't you punch? Kicks? Do voodoo? Summon shikigami? No, you had to pat and release cursed souls.
You didn't have enough suffocating attention from the sorcerers that you also had to have that from the curses. You were going to look for the old woman who cursed you the day you entered her store in another life and you were going to sacrifice her in the name of barbatos.
"Hey there you were! We're going out to dinner, are you coming?"
Nobara opened your door without knocking, you didn't stop looking at the ceiling while you lay motionless in your bed, you shook your head slowly in denial, you weren't in the mood, you were never in the mood.
"Don't talk nonsense, there is no way you can stay here alone, come on, come on! Gojo will pay for everyone."
Itadori entered immediately, pulling your wrist to drag you, you slid off the bed like a dead body, looking blankly at the boy who was giving you a puppy dog look, it wasn't that that made you accept, but if you didn't accept you would pass more time arguing with them in a useless way. You had learned to accept your destiny, you had learned to stay still in that web, maybe if you manage not to move you can free yourself, just maybe.
"I'm glad you decided to accept! It is good to have bonding time with your classmates and teacher, it encourages communication."
You nodded, looking absentmindedly at your phone, scrolling through the screen without looking at anything in particular but not wanting to have to look at the albino's expression, he knew you were going to accept, he knew you were going to go with them because they wouldn't give you any other option. He put his arm around your shoulders dragging you towards the car while he chattered things that went in one ear and out the other.
"Will you sit next to me?"
" No way, she will sit with me!"
And the tug of war began between Itadori and Nobara over who you would sit next to, too stubborn to 'share' if you sat in the middle, they would prefer to be the only ones next to you, Megumi on the other hand was the smartest when entering the first, if he sat in the middle he would assure him that you would sit next to him, however, absorbed in the discussion, they did not notice how you moved towards the passenger seat, end of the discussion and the headache, now you just had to rack your brain thinking about how to solve the fight next to who you would sit at while eating without giving anyone the benefit.
Sometimes you think that you had to do something very terrible in your old life, something unforgivable and unimaginable to be punished right now, sometimes you think that the easiest thing would be to bang your head against the wall until you are stupid enough to have a caregiver and stop worrying about many things, now you had four caregivers but no concussion, for now.

The Apple of His Eye
Tumblr media
A peek into the life of the Kennedy household with a gentle cocker spaniel, a nurturing mother, a protective father, and their oh-so-adorable little human.
Original prompt
A/N: OC is the same OC from His Sunshine
---
Leon's eyelids start to flutter at a familiar sound. His tired mind slowly lulls itself back to sleep. A few seconds later, his ears pick up at the same sound. Leon tries to go back to sleep but a loud babble forces his brain to kick his body into high gear. The babbling gets louder and louder.
'Doesn't sound like she's crying.' Leon compromises. If she really needs him or her mother, she will start crying. Finding a rational excuse, Leon sinks himself further into the mattress. Just a few more seconds and Leon will be back in dreamland.
.
.
.
Wrong.
The baby monitor transmits a loud screech, compelling Leon to open his eyes and kick his legs over the edge of the bed. Hhm, that is weird. The other side of the bed is empty. Where are you? The squawking does not give Leon enough time to think.
"Okay. Okay. I'm on my way, bunny." Leon grumbles while shutting the monitor off. The distance from the master bedroom to the nursery is only a couple of feet away. In fact, both rooms are located at the opposite sides of the staircase. The master bedroom is at the left, down a mini-way. The nursery is the door directly to the right of the staircase. Per routine, Leon looks down at the door to see Shiloh tapping her paws against the wooden floor, awaiting her chance to say "good morning" to her little human.
Pushing the door open, Leon gives the medium-sized dog to enter the decorated room. When the DSO agent first encountered BOWs, he never thought that he would get married and have a kid. It was something pre-Raccoon City Leon thought about, but that wishful thinking quickly left the man after the events of '98. It was not until after your one-year wedding anniversary did Leon really started thinking about having kids. He discussed his desire with you which led to some serious baby-making.
Leon never had any experience with babies before Eri was born. He never changed a diaper and he never held a baby. Kids, Leon was comfortable around. They know how to use the bathroom on their own, and they mostly run around all day. The cherry on it all was that Leon would be raising his baby from day one. As soon as that baby popped out of you, Leon would be a father.
Your pregnancy with Eri was relatively easy. You did not experience morning sickness or many aversions to food or cravings. You did get emotional here and there, giving Leon some serious whiplash. Most of the time you were just tired. Leon forbade you from doing field work when you told him you were pregnant. He was even able to convince the president to give Leon domestic cases so he could be closer to you.
After Eri was born, Leon's view of the world permanently changed. As much as Leon hates his job, the moment he held Eri, Leon knew he would be a DSO agent until his late fifties. Maybe early sixties. Why? Leon needs to do everything he can to make sure his little girl can live in a world without the worry of bioterrorism. When you took Eri home, Leon used his connections to up his home's security system.
Changing diapers. Bathing. Changing clothes. Cleaning spit up. Diaper explosions. Late-night feedings and changings. You name it, Leon did it. It was definitely a learning process for him, but you were able to show Leon the ropes. Thank goodness that you had experience with babies. You spent your teenage years babysitting your little cousins, and your older brother and sister have kids of their own. Lord knows the chaos that would have erupted if the both of you were clueless about babies and raising them.
Leon loves fatherhood. His own childhood (at least the parts he remembers) was not a happy one. His parents got into some sketchy stuff with equally sketchy people. Their family was always on the run. Then, Leon was orphaned. Eri is Leon's chance to make up for his childhood. He would be the father he never had. You would be the mother Leon wished he had growing up. The two of you would give Eri the childhood Leon never had.
Shiloh claws at the crib, whining through the wooden bars.
"Calm down, girl. I'll get her in a sec."
The baby stops her crying when she sees her father. Cheeks are free from tears. Leon lightly pinches her chubby cheek. "You little faker." He coos. On most mornings, Eri would whine and fake cry to get her parents' attention. She would always greet them with a mischievous smile that said, "Ha ha, I tricked you. Now pick me up!"
"Morning, bunny." Leon picks his daughter up by her armpits and holds her against his chest. Morning cuddles with his baby girl are one of Leon's favorite ways to start his day. The others are cuddling with his wife and umm...cuddling with his wife. Eri nuzzles against Leon's t-shirt, further messing up her brown hair. Other than her eyes and hair, Eri looks just like you.
After their morning routine, Leon lays Eri down on the changing table. His daughter looks around at the wall beside her and her curious hands try to grab at the garland of stars. With his quick reflexes, Leon stops her.
"Nu-uh. Your mom would yell at me if you pulled that down."
You spent days planning Eri's nursery. A couple of those days were just trying to figure out the theme of it. Leon told you that he did not care, which ended up biting him in the ass. You wanted his opinion, but you forgot that the man is not well-versed in home decor. Eventually, you narrowed your options down to a night sky/starry night theme. Leon never heard about this website called "Etsy" until then. So. Much. Shit. You bought off that place.
You even had your baby shower themed the same to keep things simple. Since most of your family lives in Georgia or the Carolinas, you had the baby shower in Atlanta. The Redfields, Jill, and some of your FBI friends came down to celebrate too. In this entire room, Leon's favorite object is the framed footprints on the wall. You asked your nurse to print Eri's feet on cardstock so you could hang up. Every month since Eri's birth, you and Leon make it a goal to stamp Eri's feet. A cute memorabilia for the two of you.
Clean bum, check. Now Leon needs to feed his baby. Putting her down on the living room carpet, Leon rummages through the fridge. On the second shelf, he sees two plastic-wrapped plates. The bigger plate, his plate has a note on it. It says, "Good morning, handsome. I left for a quick trip to the grocery store. I made you and Eri some breakfast to keep your morning easy. All you need to do is cut up an apple for her. I already fed Shiloh, so don't worry about her. - Sunshine <3"
God, you are amazing. Leon heats up Eri's plate first. Like Leon, she tends to get hangry. After heating the small plate up, Leon sets it aside to let it cool and he takes an apple from the fridge and cuts it into bite-sized pieces (while also getting his "dad tax" in).
'Wait a minute...It's too quiet.'
Putting the pairing knife down, Leon wipes his hands with the kitchen towel and looks for his daughter.
"Eri? Where are you, apple?" Leon peeps from over the couch and his daughter is nowhere to be seen. He calls out to her again. Great. Another game of hide-n-seek. Eri's favorite game to play. If you leave the little girl alone for long enough, Eri will wander off and hide. He blames you for introducing the game to her. You would hide around the house with Eri, waiting for Leon to find you. It was cute until Eri decided to spontaneously play the game by herself when she learned how to crawl. You and Leon had a full-on panic attack when you could not find your daughter.
Both of you have dangerous jobs. Resulting in making dangerous enemies. When you and Leon moved out of your shared apartment to live in a house in the suburbs, the main concern was security. Files on DSO agents and their families are strictly confidential. Even the people who work at the Pentagon have to have a certain level of clearance to access that information. Even Eri's birth certificate is confidential. The only information that is not blocked out is her name, date of birth, and sex.
But, there is always that small chance that someone can find out about your family. When that does happen, Leon wants to be prepared for it. Your home is on a large piece of land in Arlington, Virginia. It is close enough to the city for help to arrive in a reasonable time frame, but far enough to enjoy some well-deserved privacy. With Hunnigan's help, Leon was able to equip his property with a high-tech security system. Cameras, motion detectors, audio recordings, and more. Leon even chalked up some hidden compartments around the house to hold firearms of different kinds.
After twenty minutes of looking, you found Eri asleep under the dining room table. The chairs blocked her from your view. That day, you and Leon did not take your eyes off of her. One of you was always with her to make sure she did not crawl herself into trouble.
"There you are, you bad girl." Leon bends down to drag Eri out of the walk-in pantry. Oh, and Shiloh often hides with Eri. The two of them are partners in crime. "Let's get you something to eat alright? And not give your old dad a heart attack."
By the time Leon finished doing the dishes, you came walking in from the garage door with two arms full of groceries.
"Hey, handsome." You greet while tossing the plastic bags onto the kitchen counter. Leon greets you back with a kiss before helping you put the groceries away. Seeing her mother, Eri squeals in delight. She leans over the tray and makes grabby hands at you.
"Awee! Did my baby miss me?" You pick Eri out of her highchair and smother her with your love. Leon could live in this moment forever. If he had one wish, this would be it. Just him, his daughter, his wife, and his dog at home. No spontaneous calls from work. No investigations. Secretly, Leon takes out his personal phone and snaps a photo of you cuddling with your daughter.
The afternoon comes and it is almost time for Eri's nap. She usually naps for about two hours before being put to bed around eight-thirty. Today has been an easy one, and Leon hopes it stays that way. When the two of you are home, Leon puts Eri to sleep while you make lunch for the two of you. Eri always has an early lunch before she naps and a snack after she wakes up. The two of you found that to be easy considering Eri's tendency to get cranky when hungry. Like father, like daughter.
Leon walks into the kitchen to see you watching something on your phone. A pan is on the stove, sizzling.
"Watcha' watchin'?"
"A video popped up on my YouTube feed. It's about three things this guy learned from raising daughters." You hand the phone to Leon since the lessons are being told from a father's perspective.
When you plate your respective meals, Leon is sitting on the back patio. You find this unusual because he always tells you where he is going (with the exception of some missions). Even if it is somewhere around or in the house. You slide the patio door open.
"Leon? What's wrong, babe?"
He shakes his head. "It's nothing." Leon opens his arms to invite you onto his lap. You wrap your arms around his neck and nuzzle into Leon's shoulder.
"Did you get another mission?" Your guess is a valid one. Leon almost always gets like this, quiet, when he gets a call from his higher-ups. Your husband hates to leave you and he hates it more when he has to leave his darling apple, but Leon shakes his head "no".
"Is something bothering you then?" Again, Leon shakes his head "No".
Alright, then you will wait for Leon to tell you what is bothering him. Until then, you pull Leon up and bring him to the kitchen. There is no way that you are going to forsake your hard work. His appetite has gone down a little, but Leon knows that if he does not eat, he will not get a chance to without paying the "Eri tax".
Later that night, after Eri is snoozing in her crib, Leon tells you what is bothering him. The last thing the man in the video said hit Leon straight in his heart. The last lesson for dads is to teach their daughters how to shoot. It is Leon's job as a father to be his family's main provider and protector, but there will come a time when Leon will not be there to protect and provide for his family.
As much as Leon tries to rid of the dangers of the world, darkness will always lurk. It will be his job as Eri's father to teach her how to defend herself. To protect herself from the monsters that try to stop her from reaching her full potential in the world. Cause'...someday daddy will not be there to do it for her. Sometime in the night when the baby monitor picks up on Eri's cries, Leon volunteers himself to care for her.
Half-asleep, you hear Leon talking to your daughter. Repeating the same promise he made when she was born. To protect her for as long as he can. Then you hear Leon say, "Did you just pee on my hand?"
In the morning, your family of four go to a nearby park to take a walk. Eri is in her stroller, you pushing the stroller, and Leon is walking Shiloh. This writer has been focusing on the nurturing mother, protective father, and their adorable daughter, but what about the gentle doggo?
Shiloh has always loved people. Cocker spaniels are known to be wonderful family pets and very tolerant of small children. The first day you brought Eri home, Shiloh would not leave her alone. While you were pregnant, the dog would find every opportunity to nuzzle against your stomach. When Eri still slept in the room with you and Leon, Shiloh would sleep at the foot of the bed or next to the bassinet.
Their relationship would only grow as Eri gets bigger. You have a video of Shiloh giving one of her toys to a one-month-old Eri, wanting the baby to play a game of fetch with her. When Eri started eating solid foods, she would purposefully throw a small handful on the ground. Always nearby, Shiloh would lap up whatever Eri was eating. There was one time when you were out of the house, Leon was giving Eri a bath and then Shiloh hopped into the tub.
You used to be Shiloh's best friend, but you gladly gave that position to Eri. They make a cuter pair anyway.
With a household full of girls, Leon is always smothered with love. Before, you and Shiloh would always fight for his attention, and now he has three girls fighting for it. You like to mess with Eri when she gets cuddly with Leon. You would pick Eri up and put her a few feet away from Leon, before running back to him and taking her place. Purposefully, you dramatically nuzzle against Leon and kiss his cheek with a loud "Mwah!"
She only started crawling about a month ago, but Eri is a fast one. She would pop up at her father's feet and cry out to him, demanding that he pick her up. When he does pick her up and place Eri on his lap, she would try with all her might to push you off. If she could talk, Eri would say "My daddy!" Then Shiloh and Eri fight with each other to get Leon's attention. Safe to say that Leon loves the attention he gets from his girls.
Bath time is Eri's favorite. Right behind cuddling with mommy which is right behind cuddling with daddy, which is behind chasing the things that likes to play with her and lick her. Eri loves water. She loves slashing it everywhere. Leon introduced Eri to a water bath toy. It is a whale that lights up and spurts water out of its blow hole. Kind of a double-edged sword because Eri will not let either of you bathe her without that toy.
"That's enough, bunny." Leon begs as he scrunches up his face. Thanks to his baby girl, Leon's chest is all wet. He learned to rid of his shirt whenever he bathes Eri. It is easier to dry himself off without having to deal with a soaked shirt.
Eri dismisses her father's pleas and continues to punch the water. Her dark brown hair is clean and the water droplet on her nose enhances the button-like feature. Eri's eyes are a hazel brown, but if the light hits her irises just right, you can see a swirl of blue in them. You once joked that Eri's charming features would attract all the boys in her class, begging her to be their girlfriend. Leon did not find that funny. He protectively held Eri to his chest and said, "The sons of bitches better know how to shoot then."
Leon's last straw during bath time is when Eri shoves water over the edge of the tub, drowning the tile and soaking the edges of his gym shorts. Leon puts a diaper on Eri and takes the towel-clad baby to her room. Carefully, Leon tosses the clothed baby on your shared bed where you are typing away at your laptop.
"Watch the brat. I've gotta clean up her little mess."
You put your laptop on your bedside table and curl against your baby. You lift her shirt up and blow raspberries against her puggy stomach.
"Did you give your dad a hard time again?" Her little giggles say "yes".
You like to keep a few baby books in your room to keep Eri entertained. You sit up against the headboard and plop your daughter on your lap.
"Guess how much I love you."
Animated, you read the book in different voices and inflections. You use your hands to copy what the hares are doing in the book. At some point, Shiloh lays herself in the middle of the bed where your legs are. When you finish the book, you pull out another one.
"The giving tree."
Before you can read the first page, Leon takes it and climbs into his side of the bed. Minding the sleeping dog, he slides you over to him. Practically squishing Eri between you two.
"Once there was a tree and she loved a little boy..."
The Kennedy family has vital parts to it.
You are the sun that gave life and light to the apple seed, allowing it to sprout into a little tree. Shiloh is the birds and small animals that give the little apple tree companionship. And Leon. Leon is the protector. The one that wards off the pests that try to nip at the little apple tree. The one that fights off the wolves that try to eat the birds and small animals. The one that blows away the clouds that try to cover the sun's rays. Then there is the little apple tree itself. A precious gift of life that should be nurtured and protected.
"And the tree was happy."

Note: Eri may or may not have been inspired by the Eri in My Hero Academia...Why? Cause she's so darn diggity cute, that's why!

You rested your cheek in your hand as you watched Tony rim another batch of shot glasses with salt, setting the glasses he’d already filled on the board in front of you. He was dressed surprisingly casually in a black polo shirt and oil-marked jeans, his hair stylishly mussed. Your eyes idly travelled to the muscles of his biceps for a moment despite yourself.
“This still feels like a really convoluted way to get drunk.”
Tony smirked, pouring the last round of shots into his prepared glasses. “Are you worried you’re not up to the challenge?”
“I’m worried you’re an even bigger nerd than I already thought you were,” you replied dryly. Tony snickered, meeting your eyes from under his brows as he set the remaining glasses in place on the board. You returned his smile despite yourself. He’d found you raiding his bar about twenty minutes prior, and after a few semi-irritating jibes aimed your way, he’d offered to blow off his evening plans in favor of joining you for a night of commisatory drinks. “Let’s just start already.”
“You’re so pushy,” he teased, turning the board ninety degrees with a finger. “It’s kinda hot.”
You scoffed, rolling your eyes. “Keep your kinks to yourself, Stark. I’m just here to get drunk.”
He snickered again, waving a hand at the board between you. After you’d agreed to drink with him instead of alone, he’d produced a chess board from under the bar. Instead of pieces however, he’d brought out what felt like way too many shot glasses emblazoned with the different chess pieces – presumably so you could keep track of which piece was which. He’d made some joking excuse of it being a ‘training exercise’ for your problem-solving skills. The dick.
“Ladies first.”
“Alright
” you sighed, cracking your knuckles. “But, just as a warning
I have no idea how to play.”
Tony laughed aloud, rounding the side of the bar so that he could pull up the stool beside you.
***
You wrinkled your nose as you downed yet another tequila shot, the alcohol making your head pleasantly fuzzy. You reached for the bowl of limes you’d cut while he was pouring, sucking on a quarter with a frown. “So
 am I winning yet?”
Tony chuckled, his knee bumping against yours in a way that you were almost sure you could mistake for affection. He’d pulled his stool right up to yours, and now one of his knees was pressed between your parted thighs. You tried to ignore the warmth that tingled along the inside of your thighs at the feeling of it. His temple rested against his fist, his elbow on the bar as he watched you set the glass down beside the board. He was watching you with an amused smile, the deep brown of his eye ridiculously warm and strangely comforting.
“Not even close. But I love the enthusiasm.”
“I ever tell you that you’re kind of a dick?”
He sighed, faux-resigned. “No, but I’m familiar with the tune.”
“Yeah? Well, let me sing you a reprise.” you sniped, staring at the board for a long moment before picking up a shot glass and replacing it with one of yours. “A-ha!”
Tony hummed, taking the shot from you and downing it with practiced ease. You swallowed as his fingers brushed against yours, surprised again by the way something so casual made your stomach flip. He set down the glass beside the board. “You get cocky fast, sweetheart.”
“Says the world’s biggest
” you rolled your eyes as his smirk widened. “Shut up.”
Tony laughed loudly, picking up another shot and tossing it back.
“Hey, I didn’t even make a move!”
“I’m levelling the playing field,” he replied easily. You stuck your tongue out at him childishly. “God, you’re cute.”
You scowled, moving another glass across the board. “I am not.”
“Ridiculously so,” he insisted teasingly, selecting a slice of lime and replacing that glass with one of his own. You sighed, taking the shot obediently. Your frown deepened as you picked up another quarter of lime. “Hell, you’re even cute when you make that face.”
Your lips parted to make some biting response, falling silent as you met his eyes. He seemed to be studying you as he sucked on the lime, and the moment hung between the two of you before he reached out and wrapped a hand around the back of your neck. He tossed the lime aside seconds before his mouth met yours, his hand curled in your hair.
The sweet burn of salt and lime lingered on his lips, heat radiating wonderfully from where his lips pressed against yours to tingle through every one of your limbs and curl within your belly. Your hand came forward to brace yourself against his thigh, fingers pressing into the denim. Tony hummed against your lips, his fingertips tickling at the back of your neck.
His other hand came up to clutch at your hip pulling you further towards him. The sound of surprise you made as your stool tipped was muffled by his lips, your hand tightening on his thigh. Tony chuckled into the kiss, standing and pushing you back so your stool was upright again without breaking away from you.
“Careful, sweetheart,” he teased against your lips, his stubble teasing your chin. “Can’t have you—”
“I swear to God, Stark, if you’re about to make a ‘falling for you’ joke this ends right here.”
He laughed, pressing another kiss to your mouth. He tucked hair behind your ear, trailing his fingertips down the side of your neck to tease along the neckline of your shirt. “Wouldn’t dream of it.”
“Good,” you replied, hooking your fingers in the front of his shirt. You smiled up at him, warmth rising in your cheeks and settling in the pit of your stomach. “Because you’re on thin ice, Tony.”
“Noted,” he grinned as you tugged him forward and brought his lips back to yours. His kiss was languid, his hand continuing its journey down to claim your hip. His other hand came ton rest between your thighs, bracing him against the edge of the stool. The heat in your belly flooded through you; your head was spinning with it.
Tony’s lips travelled down over your throat as your hands moved to fumble with the buckle of his belt. His fingers covered yours, intertwining them. “Eager.”
You brought his lips back to yours, kissing him again for a moment before speaking against his mouth. “I need you to fuck me, Tony.”
Tony gave a soft groan, his forehead resting against yours. “Yes, ma’am.”
His lips met yours again, hungrier than before, and you curled the fingers of one hand in the hair at the back of his head. Your other hand cupped the bulge in his jeans and squeezed, shivering at the way he moaned into your mouth. Tony’s hands smoothed up over your knees, skimming along the bare flesh of your thighs. Goosebumps followed as his fingertips slipped under the hem of your skirt.
Tony’s lips returned to the side of your neck, his teeth grazing over the sensitive skin as he hooked his hands under your thighs and tugged you to the edge of the stool. Setting your knees against his hips, you moaned, head falling back, as his fingers found your cunt. Even through your underwear the brush of his fingers against your clit was godly, and you unbuckled his belt eagerly.
“Already so wet, baby,” he murmured against your throat. His teeth caught your earlobe, and he exhaled heavily as you slipped your hand past his waistband to wrap it around his hardening cock. “God, you’re gorgeous
”
You ground against Tony’s hand as he pushed your underwear aside and teased your clit in earnest, his mouth sucking a heady pressure into your collarbone. You stroked the length of him, squeezing him at the base with each downstroke.
“Evil little hands,” Tony muttered, running his tongue along your pulse point before kissing you again. His breath caught as you wrapped your legs around him and urged him closer, the head of his cock pressing slowly into you. “Fuck
”
“You sound so pretty, Stark.” you teased, your next words devolving into a moan as he thrust further into you. “Oh, Christ
”
Tony laughed brokenly, his forehead falling against your shoulder as he began fucking himself into you steadily. He pressed a kiss to the mark he’d left on your collarbone before returning to your face, dusting kisses over your cheeks and nose before claiming your lips.
His grip was bruising on your hips, and each inch he filled you with made you whimper with need. The stool rocked with each thrust, and hands clutching at his shirt. The rough denim of his jeans teased the sensitive flesh of your inner thighs, and Tony broke away from your lips so you could pull his shirt off over his head.
Your hands found his chest greedily, your mouth finding the base of his throat. Tony moaned, his fingers on your clit. “Needy little
”
“D’you think
” you moaned as he adjusted his hips and he brushed against the sweet spot inside you that made your eyes roll back. “
that we could stop making fun of each other for the next
 five minutes?”
Tony chuckled, kissing you again. His tongue slid against yours, his hands tightening deliciously on your hips.
“Depends,” he replied, kissing the tip of your nose in a surprisingly affectionate gesture. You moaned aloud as he contradicted it with a particularly hard thrust. “Think you can control yourself?”
You pinched his nipple, and he laughed. “Nope.”
“Good,” he replied. “’Cause I’m gonna need more than five minutes.”
***
You were quickly coming to the conclusion that fucking Tony was like some kind of drug. You could feel your first orgasm dripping down your thighs, the second building quickly inside you. Tony’s hand was spread against the small of your back, his head dipped down to tease the soft skin of the swell of your breasts with his lips and tongue. You had your fingers curled in his hair, rolling your hips forward to meet his with every thrust. Your other hand clung to the edge of the bar in the hopes it would be enough to keep you from falling off the stool.
“Fuck, Tony
” you wrapped your arm around his neck as he brought his mouth back to yours. Your hand clutched at his shoulder blade, nails scoring his bare skin. His fingers found your clit again and your hips jerked against him. “We’re going to get caught
”
He chuckled, quickening his hand. “Sweetheart, if nobody came running the first time you screamed my name, they’re not coming.”
“Asshole.”
“See, that’d hurt if you weren’t currently dripping all over my—”
Tony gave a muffled laugh as you cut him off by kissing him again, your teeth grazing his bottom lip. His thrusts quickened just as he pinched your clit, and you moaned brokenly as you came again, your whole body jerking into his. Tony took hold of your hips, fingers digging into the flesh as he thrust into you firmly a few more times before pulling out. He groaned, gripping the base of his cock as he spilled himself over your thighs, his shoulder shuddering as he exhaled.
You closed your eyes as you fought to regain your composure, and felt Tony dust blind kisses over your face as you did. He lingered each time he caught your lips, his own chest heaving as he came down. He smoothed a hand over the side of shoulder and down your bicep, his thumb brushing over the bare skin.
“Remind me to invite myself to drinks more often.”
You breathed a laugh, letting your head fall forward to rest your forehead against his, your hands still resting on his shoulders. Tony moved to press a kiss to your hairline as his breathing steadied.
“Wouldn’t have hurt to wait ‘til we found a bed, though.”
He smirked softly, moving back to meet your eye. You felt warmth in your cheeks as he tucked a wayward strand of hair behind your ear.
“I don’t know, you look so pretty sitting there all dainty, thighs covered in my—”
You slapped a hand over his mouth. “Tony?”
“Mm?” he hummed from behind your palm, amusement shining in his eyes.
“Don’t ruin the moment.”
“Mm-hmm.”
You smiled despite yourself, removing your hand and kissing him again.

MHA Mezo Shoji x Reader - Make Believe - IV
Tumblr media
Summary: You ask Shoji to pretend to be your boyfriend for a dinner with your parents.
Warnings: Long, multi-parted, slow burn, fem!reader, fluff, not proof read, angst
Stepping into the apartment made it instantly clear, that this wasn't a birthday dinner, it was a birthday party. Music played from the living room and you could hear laughter and conversation from every corner of the dwelling. In almost every crevice, there was at least a pair, usually more, cutting up and reminiscing on old times. There were cousins here you hadn't seen since early childhood. What was this all for?
Shortly after entering, your mother abandoned you to tend to whatever was in the kitchen, leaving you and the tallest person in the house to fend for yourselves. "Let's go in the dining room," you said, grabbing hold of Shoji's hand and pulling him along.
He silently nodded, feeling eyes on him from everywhere. He did truly stand out amongst your family, who mostly had emitter-type quirks if he had to guess. He could always count how many mutations he saw in any given space- something he'd learned from an early age. It was a tactic of knowing who to risk interacting with and who to avoid. He found that mutated people would find him...less unnerving.
Currently, he'd counted two people with mutations, but they looked nothing like you or your mother, so he had to guess that were were related by marriage. One was a young woman with a round head and abnormally large ears. The other was a small boy with a slender, rat-like vestigial tail- both cases of small, some might even say charming changes to a regular person's anatomy. This made Shoji feel even more freakish as he ducked into he dining room, seeing a large percentage of your family staring back at him.
The feeling, however, was lessened by the cheering that came with you entering with him; long-forgotten aunts, uncles, and cousins excited to see your face after such a long time of low contact.
"Well if it isn't our very own hero in training!" one man chirped, raising a glass. "Glad you were able to make it out to see us, don't go forgetting about us little folks when you hit the big leagues!"
"(Y/N)!" A little girl came running up to you, tugging on your pants. "Do you get to fight bad guys?!" You laughed sheepishly, explaining in the best way you could to fit a toddler's understanding what your training actually entailed.
Shoji couldn't help but feel warm watching you interact with your family. It was clear that they were all so proud of you and overjoyed to see you. To his dismay, however, the distraction of your presence from his didn't last long.
"So, kiddo, whose this uh..." the man spoke up again, raising his glass and tipping it towards your guest. "guy you brought with you?"
Your cheeks flushed as you quickly clung to Shoji's arm with a nervous smile. "Oh, how could I forget? Everyone, this is Shoji, my boyfriend!" It wasn't lost on said 'boyfriend' how your tone had changed this time around. It almost felt genuine. Almost.
"Boyfriend?" The man, one of your uncles sneered. "You're too little to be having a boyfriend, besides, you don't want anybody distracting you from going pro!"
You laughed in response, failing to sense Shoji's discomfort. "Uncle, it's not like that! Besides, Shoji's training to be a hero too! We want each other to succeed first and foremost."
"That's enough, son." An elderly voice called from the end of the table. Glancing over, your heart swelled with joy.
"Grandma!" you cheered, dashing over to sit beside her, engulfing her in a tight hug. "I miss you so much!"
"I missed you too, dear," she replied with a kind smile, patting your back. When you pulled away,. she reached forward, placing her hand on top of Shoji's.
"Now don't you pay my son any mind, young man." She reassured, eyes darting over to the said man. "He's had a few too many." It was at this point your 'beaux' realized the empty glass your uncle had been holding had tan foam collected at the bottom. It was beer. "You know, son, you outta be a lot nicer to this boy, he saved little (Y/N)'s life you know?"
Shoji wasn't sure what he'd expected your grandmother to say, but that sure wasn't it. He saved your life? When? "G-Grandma-!" you stammered, cheeks burning. "You don't have to bore them with the details!"
"Oh, no, dear, I do!" She insisted. "Don't you all remember when (Y/N) got her license to become a hero? That test she had to take?" There as collection of hums and variations of 'yes' from the crowd. "Well, that day, she called me up and she said 'Grandma! You'll never guess! During the exam, I was stuck in this trap and that handsome guy I told you about rescued me!'"
You definitely didn't tell the story like that, you cringed. She made it sound so mushy, it was like that at all!
"I don't remember that," Shoji, glanced down at you with a curious smile.
"I don't either," you grumbled. "I didn't say it like that."
"No need to be so grumpy, dear." your grandmother said, placing a hand on your shoulder. "It's alright, I think it's a romantic story."
You couldn't take this suffocation much more, feeling more humiliated by the second. Suddenly, you stood up, needing an out. "I-I think I hear Mom calling me from the kitchen, better go see what she needs!"
Before Shoji could stand to follow you, you'd disappeared. He blinked at your grandmother, confused, who beckoned him closer and he stole the seat you'd sat in and leaned closer to her. "That girl is just head over heels for you, know it?" She smiled kindly. Part of him wanted to ask if she was sure, not feeling like it was possible, but the other part of him knew that was the wrong choice. "I haven't told her yet, but my sickness has gotten worse," she confessed, looking past him, following the path you'd taken. "I won't have another birthday party, this is my last one. We wanted to make it special."
"W-With all due respect, ma'am," Shoji swallowed hard, shifting nervously in his seat. "Why are you telling me this instead of her?"
"I just wanted you to know you have my blessing." The old woman smiled, brighter than she had before, cradling one of his hands in her withered ones. "I'm content knowing my little girl is in good hands." She laughed. "And she can be a handful, but from the looks of it, I'd say youve got enough hands for the job."
Suddenly, this all felt heinous. How could he lie to this woman after she confessed to being on her last bit of time on Earth? He had to come clean. "M-Ma'am, there's something you don't know..."
"You aren't actually together, I know." she finished his thought for him.
"How did you...?"
"Some call it telepathy, I call it an old woman's intuition." She chuckled heartily. "But I'm not worried, I can see you care very deeply for my granddaughter, don't you, Mezo?"
He froze hearing his first name while knowing for a fact you hadn't introduced his full name when you came in. Obviously, the old woman had a mind-reading quirk. He chose to ignore it in favor of the bigger picture. "I-I..." he stammered, unsure of what the answer truly was.
"Only someone who cares would put themselves in the predicament you're in, am I right?" she rationed with a knowing smile as she sipped a cup of tea.
"I guess that makes sense..." Shoji finally admitted. "I guess I've always liked her a little bit, but I never really thought I had a shot."
"You've got more than a shot, son." She finally said. "You've got a guaranteed bullseye. Now just promise me one thing and I'll let you go."
"What's that?"
A tear slipped down the woman's wrinkled face. "Take care of my baby."
"I will," he lunged forward, enveloping her in a hug. "I promise."

TAKE CARE [SUGAWARA KOUSHI X READER]
[SUMMARY] sugawara helps you destress [PRONOUNS] she/her [GENRE] fluff [POV] second person [WORD COUNT] 964 [CONTENT] sugawara being the best bf [A/N] THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE REQUEST you have no idea how much it means to me (*Žω*) AND I AM SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG ;-; I hope you enjoy!!
“I think I’m dying.”
“I also think you’re dying.”
You tossed an unimpressed look his way, pouting at the teasing grin on his lips.
“That’s not what you’re supposed to say.”
Sugawara chuckled and closed the textbook in front of him, shuffling a bit so he was facing you instead of the table. “It’s true. Listen, I’m all for studying, but you’ve been working yourself too hard.”
“Have not.” You huffed, turning away from him to focus on the textbook before you. “Exams are coming up and I need to do well on them.”
“And you will.” Sugawara’s voice was certain, as were his movements as he placed a hand over the page you were reading before gently tugging it away from your grasp. “You’ve been spending all your time either studying or working. When was the last time you had a proper meal?”
You let out a heavy and reluctant sigh, watching as your boyfriend slipped a spare sheet of paper into the textbook to mark your place before closing it.
“When was the last time we went out to eat?”
This time it was his turn to sigh, and his teasing smile turned sympathetic as he gazed at you. “[Name], listen to me. You need to take care of yourself.”
“I’m fine, I need to study-”
“If you don’t ace these exams, then no one will. You’ve been going nonstop for weeks.”
You avoided his eyes. “I’m fine, I promise!”
Sugawara let out another sigh and from the corner of your eye you watched him shake his head. “Well, if you won’t take care of yourself, then I guess I will.”
“Huh?”
Before you had time to question his statement further, Sugawara had gotten to his feet and was tugging you up to do the same, quickly placing his hands on your shoulders and spinning you away from the table you’d been sitting at for hours. “You are incredibly stubborn, you know that?”
“Am not.”
Sugawara laughed at that and grinned before shoving you out of the kitchen and towards the couch. “You may act like and say that you’re fine, but I can feel the tension in your shoulders. You need to de-stress.”
“Do not.”
“And luckily for you, I know the perfect way to do that!”
You yelped as he shoved you (rather unceremoniously) onto the couch. He grinned proudly from his stance above you as you wiggled around in a subconscious attempt to get comfortable, settling his hands on his hips in triumph at your defeat.
“Now you just lay there and look pretty and I’m going to be right back. Don’t you dare get up from that spot– I’ll know.”
“Koushi, what are you-”
“Put something on TV or pull up a game; my Switch should still be connected.” He grabbed the remotes and shoved them into your hands before leaning down and planting a chaste kiss on your forehead. “Remember: no moving from this spot.”
“You’re a menace, you know that?”
“Be back soon!” He said with a laugh, prancing out the door before you had another chance to argue.
Resigned to your fate, and appreciating the softness of the couch on your aching back (hunching over while reading was probably not the best idea), you snuggled further into the cushions and turned on the television, your eyes drifting closed after only a couple of minutes.
...
The sound of rustling plastic woke you from your spontaneous nap.
“Koushi?” You mumbled, sleep thick in your throat and slurring your speech. You rose into a sitting position and rubbed at your eyes, trying to rid them of their blurriness.
Once you were able to fully comprehend your surroundings, you spotted your partner crouching down by the kotatsu and looking rather sheepish with his hands in one of the many plastic shopping bags that littered the surface.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you up. You’re cute when you sleep, you know?”
“You always say that.” You grumbled, stifling a yawn. “I didn’t hear you come in.”
“Seems like all of my sneakiness was spent on that feat.” He chuckled, pulling a box of takeout from the bag. His nose was still red from the time he’d spent outside, and if you focused you could feel the chill from the winter winds radiating off of him.
“What’d you get?” You swung your legs over the edge of the couch, sliding to the floor to waddle closer to the kotatsu and slip your legs under the cover.
“Your favorites. Thought it’d be a nice surprise and reward for all of your hard work.” Sugawara beamed, continuing to reveal box after box until there was a pile of discarded plastic bags on the floor and the surface before you was overflowing with your favorite foods and drink. “And a chance for you to actually eat something and take a break.”
Your heart swelled. “Thank you.” You smile, almost shyly, at him. “You’re too sweet.”
“Nah.” Sugawara dismissed your claim, handing you a pair of chopsticks he seemed to pull out of the ether. “I’d say I’m the perfect amount of sweetness.”
You couldn’t stop the laughter from escaping your lips, Sugawara slipping under the kotatsu as well and bumping his legs against yours in a playful manner.
“Besides, you’d do the same for me.” He shrugged, opening the box closest to him. “Not that you’d ever have to, of course, because I’m able to properly balance my work, studies, and self-care
unlike some people.” You kicked him. “Ow.”
“Shut up.” You stuck your tongue out at him, before following his movements and opening a few of the boxes before you.
“Thank you for the meal.” You both said in unison, and with another heartfelt smile sent his way, you began to eat.

Beyond the sea
─Luffy x mermaid!reader
─Summary: Venturing outside the established limits made you meet what could be your soulmate, you are completely grateful for having disobeyed your father a little.
─Warnings: inspired by the movie ponyo.
SOOOO, this is a wonderful collab with @alicedash2, who had the idea, if you liked the topic you can check out her post too!! and Here is her Wattpad account in case you want content in portuguese! :p
Tumblr media
Luffy took firm steps across the uneven terrain, a frown lingering on his face as he huffed angrily, Ace and Sabo didn't let him go up to the treehouse, so he decided to go to the beach to see the ships that came and went from Foosha Village port, he swung his arms until he finally reached a small cliff, he went down a clear path where the rocks were more worn until he reached the shore and kicked the water, still a little annoyed with his brothers.
His eyes scanned the sea, seeing how Shanks' ship was near the port, he smiled when thinking about the redhead, he waited impatiently for him to tell him more stories about his adventures, and he would also ask him again to be part of his crew.
"Huh?"
His gaze stopped at something floating near his, childish curiosity urged him to get closer, regardless of whether his clothes got wet, he cringed because of how cold the water was but he continued until the water reached up to his thighs, looking sideways, he found a stick floating next to him, he used it to poke the floating thing until it turned over, it was a fish.
"What a strange fish, it has human face
 will it be edible?"
He continued poking until he saw how the fish's eyes opened, while his gaze shone, yours darkened as you noticed how he woke you up from your nap, sipping some salt water, you spit it right in Luffy's face with impeccable aim.
"Hey!"
You laughed internally as you saw his change of mood, using his stick to get away from you, you bit it preventing him from hitting you, he began to shake it up and down, making you dizzy as you were still chewing on the wood, Luffy ended up falling to the ground, the water level already on his chest, you swam in circles around him studying the human while he wiped the water off his face, he laughed as he watched you do some tricks in the water, forgetting his previous anger with his brothers, he spent the afternoon next to you on the shore.
You had ventured out of the depths of the sea, in a moment of confusion on the part of your father, you managed to escape to be able to see what was beyond the depths of the oceans, you had always been warned that you should not go up, but curiosity of a child is much stronger.
You really liked listening to what the human said about everything he did on the surface, and he seemed to be entertained by the way you swam and played with some crustaceans that were nearby, you didn't even realize that night was falling until Luffy sneezed because the cold settled on his body.
Neither of you seemed to want to separate now that you had begun to enjoy each other's company, so the boy quickly went to look for a bucket where he could carry you. You waited patiently on the shore until you saw him appear with a big smile and a green bucket, balancing it in his hands, he filled it with water and you jumped into it, a little uneasy at the reduction in space.
"I'm sure Ace and Sabo will be so jealous that I found you first, I'll rub it in their faces for not letting me go up to the treehouse! Oh, and you have to splash them when you see them, that will be fun."
You listened in silence as he ranted about his family, attentive to every anecdote and fact, you smiled when you saw his house in the distance, the wood on the walls was a little splintered, the interior didn't have the best decoration either and everyone seemed to have already started eating dinner without wait for Luffy.
"Why is everyone eating without me!? I'm going to starve because Ace will eat everything!"
"Stop complaining kiddo, we left a separate plate for you, what do you have there, boy?" Dandan leaned over to see you swimming in circles in the bucket "Did you bring fish for us to cook?"
"No way! She is not food!"
Ace raised his face from the plate on which he had crashed, Sabo sighed, passing a napkin over his brother's stained cheeks, both looked curiously at what Luffy had in his hands and approached.
"What is-?"
When both brought their faces closer to the bucket, a stream of water soaked them completely, Luffy laughed at their surprised expressions while you jumped, hitting his hand in a weird “high five” for the joke. They calmed down a bit after that as hunger won out for now, your mouth watering and delighting at the meat that ─somewhat reluctantly─ Luffy shared with you, although he probably stole some from Sabo to give to you.
You returned to the surface often after that day, your father became suspicious of your disappearances, but your mother was a little more permissive, over time, you developed powers that allowed you to transform, you could become a human or a combination of human and fish, with legs and arms but being parts of an amphibian, your relationship with Luffy became closer to the point that you did nothing if not together, you were rarely separated from the boy unless you were in the depths of the sea.
Your relationship with Ace and Sabo also grew closer, you enjoyed their company, you appreciated the things they taught you, Ace gave you some self-defense lessons while Sabo helped you understand some concepts and provided you with valuable information about the terrestrial world.
Normally you would rather watch them do their fighting tournaments, because you weren't that interested, plus they didn't like it either because you always won, even though you defended yourself by saying that using your mermaid magic wasn't cheating, you didn't care enough and you decided to observe in silence and write down each one's victories.
You competed with Ace on which of the two of you fainted more times a day, the use of your powers drained every ounce of your being, and Ace's narcolepsy was in competition, Sabo kept track of how many times you fell asleep during a day, while the blonde protects his brother's head from being hit, Luffy usually holds your body close to him when you start to rub your eyes drowsily.
Like this time, you were both on the same cliff as the first time you met, Luffy hugged you, your head rested against his shoulder while your eyes struggled not to close, the sunset was very beautiful, although at first you were just here to flee from his brothers for playing a joke on them, the moment seemed to be perfect to watch how the sky was stained with warm tones.
Luffy mumbled your name as he saw you closed your eyes, shaking a little, he said something you weren't aware of, giving a lazy yawn, you rubbed your eyes, opening them to look at him.
"Can you
can you repeat what you said?"
He chuckled as he saw your almost passed out form in his arms, nodding.
"I said I would be the king of the pirates and I asked you if you wanted to be part of my crew, I bet not all pirates have mermaids as companions! Shanks at least doesn't have one on board
"
As if Luffy's excitement had awakened your consciousness a little and gotten rid of the tiredness in your mind, you lifted your head from his shoulder like an owl, gave him your best smile, nodding effusively, you grabbed his hands with a new glow in your eyes, you had always heard the three brothers arguing about pirates, thinking that Luffy would include you in his plans delighted you.
"Of course! I will crush the sea creatures that try to break our ship, I will help you be the pirate king Luffy!"
Luffy laughed vigorously, tightening the grip he still had on your hands, both of you shaking them in some kind of weird greeting, like an agreed promise.
It was something you planned to accomplish, although you didn't expect that time would pass so quickly, with some setbacks and incidents that you preferred not to remember, you looked at the cliff with big eyes until an older version of Luffy snapped his fingers at you to snap you out of your daydream.
"Are you ready to go? Many adventures await us, I'm sure!"
You smiled softly at your companion's enthusiasm, nodding, you climbed onto the small boat with your own suitcase, rolling your eyes at the sight of Luffy's backpack only filled with food, you untied the knot that ran the ship aground in the harbor, raising the sail so that the wind will guide your first destination.

Can you hear the maniacal laughter of someone who thought he was burnt out from his fucking masters in fine arts only to be unleashed and write over 5k words in two days?
It's me. Hi, I'm still working out the kinks for the Constellations redux and I'm honestly feeling pretty pleased. Probably gonna have a piece for Sun soon.
If you don't know what's happening, go here!
In theory, there are many positives to a second Daycare Attendant in any given pizzaplex, especially one so big and busy as here. They could act as a second in command at the daycare, or provide extra security, or even draw more people in to using the daycare while the primary Attendant continued their duties. In theory, the world was their oyster.
Reality hit a bit different.
Sunny has always been protective of his role as Attendant, which is understandable, given the virus and all that he and Moon had gone through. So the mere idea of sharing his space and duties was something that sent him into a bit of a tailspin. You’d barely suggested it before realizing how stupid of an idea it was, but it still took the better part of a day between you, Moon, and Gemma convincing Sunny that he was both allowed to be upset by the idea and to express that without feeling like he was going to be shut down or replaced. A second Attendant existing within fifty square miles of himself was putting him on edge enough. There was no way your Sun and Moon would be allowed to help in the daycare without someone suffering.
Moon is more amenable to sharing his nightly duties, but given Sunny’s distress more is not much of a stretch when applied to “lukewarm lack of enthusiasm.” You’ve
had trouble reading this Moon. When you talk to him, you often catch him staring at your face or arm. He doesn’t mean to, but it makes you self-conscious, knowing that he’s all too aware that his own claws could fit neatly into the scarring left behind. Sunny had been eager to talk about it, to share the experience, you suppose, but Moon?
Moon kept his thoughts of everything to himself.
Of course, none of this mattered at all because ultimately the new Attendant couldn’t be caught by the higher ups. You and Gemma and Anika are taking a big risk rescuing and bringing back a decommissioned bot, let alone a duplicate, let alone the very bot that had you nearly fired after nearly dying. All the ways you tried to spin this into a positive paled at the fact that you and your friends would very much be fired and imprisoned, your Attendant shut down and probably scrapped, and Sunny reprogrammed if you were caught.
They spent most of their time around the bakery.
That’s because you spent most of your time at the bakery. You don’t like it as much as the overnight janitor gig, and sometimes you’re asked to man the till and have to put up with parents and guardians poorly disguising their horror at your mangled face, but it’s where the powers that be decided you belonged now. You make cakes and cookies and avoid the front of the little building with the creepy cupcake statues and staring adults as much as possible.
I’m coming up.
There is one benefit to your Attendant’s new body: wifi accessibility. You can text them now. And you do, constantly, backfilling the years with memes and stories and pictures and videos you’d saved just for them. It also meant that when you decided to do something vaguely fool-hardy, like climb into the rafters to find Moon, you could warn them and know that they’d be above the bakery within minutes.
You’ve barely made it to the top of the ladder when oversized hands wrap around your torso, helping lift you into the rafters with your weight roughly held about your armpits. Record timing. You give a wiggle, giggling at the gravelly tut it elicits. “You are going to hurt yourself climbing up here.”
“But I wanted to see you and Sun.” You do wait until Moon’s set you solidly on one beam, turning in its hands and pushing into it for a hug. You can hear it mechanicals ticking away inside its chest, solid and comforting and real. And you can feel when it leans down, its teeth pressing gently into your hairline in a pantomime of a kiss. “You can’t come down when the plex is open, and I’ve got a lunch break anyway.”
“No lunch,” Moon says, and you lift your head to glare at him. The glare is ruined by your inability not to smile.
“Tell Sun if she wants to critique me, she has to come out herself and not send our boyfriend to do the pestering.” You push up on tiptoes, and Moon immediately moves to support you, keeping you centered on the wide beam and safe in the loop of its arms. You lean against it, fingers catching at the edge of Moon’s faceplate to tug down (it’s not fair, even with this shorter unit you still barely make it to their shoulders). You kiss Moon’s teeth and nose, peppering your lips over unyielding silicone while a laugh bubbles up in Moon’s speakers. It’s Sun’s laugh, almost, just pitched down and made a mess. But it’s a relief too, knowing Sun is still there.
“Gemma is trying to source parts for a new exoskeleton.” You’re sitting with a sandwich Moon had fetched from the bakery fridge, eating one handed. The other is too busy holding Moon’s. “It’s just been difficult with the faceplate. Your old one was pretty unique for the attendant lines I guess.”
“We appreciate the costumer replicating our old outfit.” Moon shifts, running its free hand down the blue striped pants covered in soft silver stars. “As much as we appreciate our twins’ looks, it was rather jarring to awaken like that.”
“I know. I’m sorry. It’s my fault. We probably should’ve waited for you to look more like yourself but I was selfish.” The prickle of self-doubt isn’t helped any by the soft bonk from Moon against the side of your head. “You can’t deny it Moony. If I had been more patient, maybe Sun would be willing to come out.”
“The Sun will rise soon. They just need time.” It’s an ill comfort, and your sandwich feels dry in your mouth. You chew hard to swallow. “She loves you.”
“I know.” You squeeze its hand tightly, pulling it into your lap. You’d lean—but you are a good forty feet off the ground and terrified of heights. Even having your legs dangling off the edge like this is vaguely terrifying. “I still miss her. I wish we could talk directly because I’m still worried about everything t-that
everything that happened.” Ugh, you’re crying around your fake eye. It’s the weirdest feeling, still being able to cry out that socket, not having any control over it. You have to let go of Moon’s hand to scrub at it, the eye rolling uncomfortably under your palm.
“The other Sun talked to us a little about the virus.” Moon’s hand joins yours, pulling your hand away so it can lift your chin and fix the eye for you. You try to hold still, face growing warm as you find yourself staring at Moon’s hat. “About the conversations you’ve had with him.”
“No wonder my ears have been burning,” you mumble, closing your eyes once Moon’s fingers were clear. His hand didn’t leave, and you lean into it, kissing his palm.
Moon laughs his normal laugh, thumb stroking over the uneven texture of your face. “If that were the case, you would be burning all the time. Sun and I have had much to talk about.”
There’s another moment of fear and self-doubt, did I do the right thing, what if they hate each other, what if they’ve hurt each other, but Moon’s voice cuts through the fog. “—blame me.”
“Huh?”
Moon laughs again, more softly this time. “Cotton in your ears Starlight? I said, Sunny explained how you’ve never, not once, blamed me.”
“Why on earth would I blame you for anything?” you ask, and Moon’s fans pick up, the LED lights of his eyes flickering. Oh, have you upset it? It’s harder to tell with this faceplate, but the fans are usually a decent indicator of some major emotional change.
“Because of this.” Moon’s grip tightens on your cheek, just briefly, dropping down to the scarring on your throat next. “This. And here.” Its fingers are invasive, pulling the sleeve of your shirt up, pulling at the straps of your elbow brace. “You’re scarred, mutilated, by my hands.” It pauses as it pushes up onto your shoulder, under your shirt. Just Moon’s fingers are big enough to cover the entire joint, its palm pressing lightly against your upper arm. It’s not even that you’re small. “You would be dead if it weren’t for Sun.”
“I would’ve been dead if it weren’t for both of you.” You take Moon’s hand, pulling it free of your sleeve. You can’t quite look Moon in the eye, knowing that your broken socket is already leaking (you can hardly call it crying). You push on the tip of Moon’s fingers, watching the claw flip up like a switchblade, testing the tip of it. It’s blunter than before, but the thin metal still hurts as it presses against your finger. Moon pulls away. leading you to chase after its hand and hold it tight once more.
“I don’t remember much of that night,” you admit, your voice going soft to keep from cracking. “I don’t remember most of the year after either. The doctors say I got thrown really hard and cracked the back of my skull. Like reverse whiplash from a car accident.” Moon tries to pull away again, but when you hold on, it has to stop or risk unbalancing you. “Don’t. I don’t blame you Moon; I never have. Because you could’ve killed me from the very start and you didn’t. We both know you’re faster than me, even without the wire.”
There’s a click from its voice box, but you shake your head hard, sniffling. “No, shut up, I’m not done. You’re faster than me. You’re stronger than me, but it’s my right side that’s all messed up, not my left.” Not your dominant hand, your artist hand, as Sun had taken to calling it. “You were holding back.”
“You can’t know that.” Moon’s voice clicks audibly, erroring out into static as his fans pick up. He can’t pull his hand away; you’ve got it with both of yours now. “Sun held me back.”
“You could’ve shut him out,” you retort, and you do look at Moon then, the dimness of his eyes a dead giveaway for how little he’s enjoying the conversation. You don’t like it either, but this is important, and you’ve been holding it in since your first conversation with Sunny. “The other Attendant told me. His Moon blocked him out entirely. They couldn’t communicate, and he couldn’t see anything when he wasn’t in control. He never had a chance to Eclipse. But I remember that. I remember seeing Clips. I-I remember being held by you both.”
Moon’s hand has curled up in yours like some dead thing, so you take the time to smooth out its fingers, pressing its palm over your sternum, roughly over your heart. Its fingers brush heavily over the bottom of your jawline. “This right here is because of you. That virus, whatever it was, would’ve killed me if you hadn’t held it back, if Sun hadn’t eclipsed you. Moon, you would never hurt me.”
The words are an echo, a promise given, a promise kept in your mind. Moon is looking away again, hand pressed limply against your chest. You can feel the slow brush of its thumb against the scar tissue on your throat. You swallow, and its hand goes very still.
“I hated it,” Moon finally says, lowering its hand until it sits in your lap. You take it with both of yours again, watching Moon as it stares down at the sparse crowd. Humans, parents and children and siblings milling about, eating and laughing and talking, the music just loud enough to drown them out. “The way Sun has described her anxiety, you your intrusive thoughts, it was like that. A constant, cloying need to give in. If I didn’t, if I refused, it dug in deeper, circling around, waiting for me to slip up and let the prompt through. And the games
” Moon stops itself, wiping at its faceplate. tugging at its hat until the bell jangled. “We stopped boogeyman, then chase, then Sun suggested we stop naptime until things were better. It wasn’t until I actually. Hurt.”
When Moon stops again, you scoot a little closer, leaning into its space. “That’s when Sun banned me from the daycare,” you prompted softly, but Moon shook its head.
“That was later. Sun caught me digging through our memory files, trying to sort where that thing had come from. And I’d been deleting other things without realizing. Or
it had been I suppose. Safety protocols. Mobility limiters on things like our claws. Files about you.” It holds there a moment, its hand on your lap turning to hold tight to your thigh. “That’s when Sun banned you and banned naptime. She tried to keep us safe in the daycare, and it, it worked mostly. I couldn’t hurt anyone if I wasn’t the primary program. Except for you.”
It looks to you again, leaning close until it can gently bonk its faceplate against your temple. You smile weakly, pulling it down for a kiss, soft and short and once again a little awkward given the stiff, unexpressive material. You have to let go of Moon’s hand so you don’t feel off-balance, and you can feel it move up from your lap to your belly and side, holding you in place. “It hurt to be shut out but
I can’t say I did much better,” you mumble against Moon’s teeth. You are reluctant to pull away, face growing hot. “I just left. After I was released from the hospital, FazCo said that I could finish college and have my medical bills and tuition covered, or I could go to jail for interfering with their property. And I left.” Traitor tears are building into a great flood that can’t be sniffed away. “I left you and Sun to rot in the basement and I thought about that every day, not knowing if you’d been wiped clean or discarded entirely. Because I’m a coward Moon! If I had been braver, I could’ve saved you! We could’ve been together longer!”
“Oh Starlight.” There’s a trip in Moon’s voice again, less gravel, more Sun, but it’s still Moon’s pet nickname, and Moon’s gentle hold that’s pulling you (still so high!) into its lap, tucking you against its chest so you can hear the thrum of its mechanicals through its exoskeleton. “You are no coward. You could’ve waited ten, a hundred, a thousand years, to find us again, and we never would’ve thought you a coward.”
You can’t help but let out a shaky giggle. “There’s no way I’d have been around in a thousand years.”
“You never know,” Moon says, its voice catching into the tail end of a song. “And we would’ve loved seeing you again as much as we love seeing you now.” You’re safe in Moon’s arms, hugged tightly against its chest as it tilts its face down into your hair. “Seeing you, holding you, hearing you. We love you.”
“I love you too.” You say the words into their neck ruffle, check pressed against the oversized bell that hides the clasp. You snuggle in deeper, ignoring the stiff wire holding the silk in place. “I missed you so much. I love you.”
It takes a minute and for your phone to go off, your manager wondering where you’d disappeared to, for you to compose yourself. Moon helps you to the ground and you’re about to leave to finish your shift when you remember a question that’s been bothering you for a long time.
“Moon?”
“Mm?” It’s busy fixing your shirt sleeve, fighting where the cuff is trying to curl up on itself.
“When they shut you off, were you and Sun
 separated?”
Moon’s fingers pause, rubbing over the fabric instead. “Separated?”
“You were Clips when we were found. Did they force you to restart before d-decommissioning you?” Were you and Sun alone when you were killed?
Moon must’ve picked up on the unasked question because its hand moves to cup your cheek, the unmarred side of your face soft and warm against its metal. “No,” Moon says softly. “We were still Eclipse when they shut us down. And you were still in our arms.”
“Oh.” Your ribcage is suddenly too small for your heart, and you fling yourself into one last, bitterly tight hug. “I’ll see you after work.”
“Don’t climb into the rafters,” Moon warns, and you can’t help but snort.
“Why not? I know you’ll be there to keep me safe.”
You know Moon’s current face is static, but you can’t help but think that it seems just a little happier as you disappear into the bakery to finish out the day.
