That was so flipping beautiful oh my god. I'm not gonna stop talking about that EVER. All the cast coming back together(I actually screamed when I saw Katherine Parkinson),the CALLBACKS shshahahahhaha. I love this show so much and I'm so sad it's over but also soso happy to see them go out with a bang

tbf to steve and reece. you do often end up waiting half an hour for a bus only to discover it’s been cancelled, so maybe that episode wasn’t as big a non-sequitur as first thought

Can I ask why Death Be Not Proud is your favourite episode? It's a cool choice and one I don't see often.

Of course! tldr: i'm emotionally attached to the characters and overly sentimental

long version: i think it's because series 5 was the first i watched weekly as the episodes were released, which is always my preferred way to watch shows, and at that point i hadn't even heard of Psychoville so it was almost like getting two episodes in one- the before and after. the first time through i liked it but could tell i was missing out on the full "experience", and then the second time it was like watching it with new eyes.

and so much of the episode works so well from both angles: i mean, the incest toilet scene? WTAF, i'll never be able to watch it without cringing. the corpse in the bath? "oh yeah i forgot to say, i put her body on ice so that i could bring her back to life"- that's a great payoff for fans of Psychoville and for the people who didn't see that it's just a hilariously batshit thing to say/do. also because i was not expecting the bathroom corpse it was SO horrible (as is the next thought- how have they been washing?) and the idea of the head in the wall really struck ice into me. i love how the dread builds throughout the episode in between these strangely charming flashbacks so you never know what's going to happen next.

at the end of the day Psychoville is my favourite Pemberton-Shearsmith show, and DBNP follows up on my favourite of each of their characters in it. even after multiple rewatches i still get excited when the door opens on David in the hallway, and it still feels like bumping into an old friend when Mr Jelly shows up at the birthday party. and everyone ends up happy, kind of! they're all okay, wherever they are, at least.

IN9 S9 E4 spoilers ahead

Last night’s ep tricked me into thinking I was right about the twist, and then whipped out the most cliche second twist almost to mock me I HATE THIS SHOW (I LOVE THIS SHOW)

I noted down my thoughts on what the twist could be based on the description before watching and I said “escape room turns out to be real” and “dad dies” and I was so nearly right. So nearly right. Then I just got laughed at in my face with the Pokémon theory done right (somehow), the only twist I wouldn’t have expected after so many seasons of IN9. Like how many layers of subversion is that . Subversion crepe cake
