Price has always been a clingy drunk, his inebriated mind seemingly always seeking the closest person to hug or to hold. When he was younger, after times or not, Laswell ended up as the unfortunate victim, ending up with a John who would just not let go of her. Then it was Ghost, though far more subtle, he always finds a way to wrap an arm around his, smiling as though he had won a prize.

Then Nikolai showed up, with his swaggering hips and tailored jackets. He builds his trust with John over the years, saving his arse more times than the Brit bothered to count. He lingers near him, almost always quietly observing the angel (in his eyes) of the man.

And yet John refused to believe he was in love with Nikolai, pushing him away to deny his feelings only to pull him back in like the tides when he needed the grounding of the russian. He knew it was selfish of him, to watch the russian face twitch every single time he ignores him. And yet he couldn't help it, his instinct screaming at him to ignore Nik all together, despite the years of trust between them.

But that all changed, when one day, after a particularly hard mission, the team and Nik found themselves crammed in a corner of a bar somewhere, 5 men stuck in a booth meant for 4. Drinks after drinks flower onto the table, courtesy of Nikolai's card, and John felt his mind buzz after the seventh round. He couldn't help but stare at the russian next to him, so close that he could see the silvers in his hair, he smelt so good too. Still, he could keep some sense of self discipline in him, opting to listen in on Johnny's and Kyle's arguing over football.

It wasn't until way later into the night, when John was truly pliant after the tenth drink, when he felt an arm wrap around his shoulders. His eyes barely swept over to the russian next to him, staring at the way he excluded warmth, the all too pleasant grin as he chatted away with Simon. He felt drowsy, and loose. Almost free with how Nikolai was so close to him. Nikolai was still with him, despite the push and pull of their relationship, and he was happy with that, happy that the Russian was still alive to keep him close. And without a second thought, or any consideration for anyone in that matter, he leaned into Nikolai, head on his chest. He felt the russian readjust in his seat, before a hand was gently cradling his head, supporting it while lurring him into sleep. And sleep did feel so good at that moment, with the soft russian accent ringing settling into his brain, and the hand cradling him. It wasn't long before John was snoring gently on Nikolai's chest, almost damn near straddling him with the way he was sat on Nikolais lap.

Nikolai had only planned to test the rumors out, hearing from Laswell and a few other close friends of John that drinking tend to loosen him up to the extent of clinginess. He had kept the tap flowing, fully keen on testing the rumors out. The night had been long, Johnny and Kyle somewhere out in the crowd, mingling. He had almost grown bored, having planned to just up and leave (after of course sending his dear malyshka home and making sure he was tucked in). Still, he was pleasantly surprised when the man had shifted, the Brit seemingly moving on its own before climbing onto his lap like a kitten. John was snoring, the demin jacket on him rising and falling with his breath. From so close, he could see the freckles on his face, the way his lashes fall on his eyes.

Perhaps he should take John for drinks more often then, if it meant having a chance of keeping his love close.
