#I've not seen the episode or spoilers yet

I've had a series of thoughts over on Twitter today and I thought I would share. They are mostly about episode 4 so, spoilers if you havent seen it yet. I'm happy to hear everyone else's opinions..
-Do you think Edwin ever realized exactly what Charles would do to protect him? He's thrown him thru mirrors and fought ghosts but does he know the full extent? The scene with the Night Nurse is a prime example. I think he knew but not to this extent. He trusts him to always have his back, and he's seen him fight off ghosts and worse. But, there has never been a direct threat like the Night Nurse.
-Edwin talks about knowing that Charles' father wasn't a nice man. Since he was from the early 1900s, its safe to assume his definition is different from Crystal and Charles. What is his definition of bad? If you read a lot of history, it wasn't uncommon to hit your kids. I'm going to assume Edwin was a normal child to his parents, so he would have experienced this. So, if he is saying he knew Charles' father was a bad guy...
-Edwin was never afraid of Charles, he was afraid FOR him. From the moment Charles dropped to the ground until he fell to his knees and broke down, Edwin was not scared. He wanted to comfort Charles, he wanted to help him. He didn't know what the Night Nurse did, he just knew it broke Charles

Why so mean?
I didn't get to watch the episode yet, so I'm relying on Tumblr for spoilers. I do, however, watch a fair amount of Family Feud, so I'm a little taken aback at how many people are calling the players dumb, and giving little credit to their quick comeback and win. Our little 911 gang is not the first to win by stealing the game with the last question. The game is even designed so people can do just that. I've seen players pick up the last question, go for the grand prize, and tank there too. Winning this game mostly requires being in the zone and guessing what people of a particular survey had to say. It seems like our guys knew they weren't in the zone from the practice round. That probably added to their nervousness about answering the questions later. That said, there have been legitimate stupid answers, and if they had given one of those, I know it would have been the first thing posted.
I do enjoy Family Feud though. Sometimes the people they survey as well as the players are crazy horny people. Which reminds me, I'm surprised Ryan's jackrabbit answer wasn't there. That answer was mild compared to some of the insane answers I've heard. One time, the question was what type of transportation did Abraham Lincoln ride. You got the typical answers, of horse, carriage, and then one girl goes, "He rode Mrs. Lincoln." AND it was there. LOL
Here is another favorite from a different celebrity challenge.

One of the dumbest answers came from the Canadian version of the show.

no, what's really wild is me getting excited for the Loki final as if I didn't participate in the Destiel, Stucky, Johnlock, etc. fandoms only to get a steel chair to the face. I know whats coming, I've been here before.

anyway, I couldn't decide which composition I liked better, so I did both!

Can't believe I accidentally abandoned Unwell podcast for nearly two years for no reason. I'm finally catching up with it and I'm feeling some kind of way about ghosts that don't know they are ghosts, and ghosts that aren't exactly ghosts at all, and ghosts that are previous versions of you, and towns that are alive and complicated, and houses that shift and change and become unfamiliar in the same way a person's own mind can, and family, and tradition, and history, and memory, and community, and grief...

I just watched The Five Doctors to brush up on my Susan returning knowledge, just in case all the build up comes to anything, and it's quite goofy but extremely charming. I was aware ahead of time of Tom Baker's parts being taken from Shada, but it's still executed in quite a funny way. "Oh no, I'm being stolen by a triangle! This was definitely what was originally happening in this shot! And now I'm mysteriously trapped in the vortex all episode, don't worry about it!" The guy in a silver morph suit who is supposedly the deadliest killing machine ever was also a wonderfully silly highlight. It's the first time I've seen this version of the Master as well and he's good fun! He's no Roger Delgado, but Anthony Ainley has such an over the top camp energy to him with his flowing cape etc. that worked really nicely with the tone of the story.
Richard Hurndall makes a valiant effort as the First Doctor. He's not William Hartnell, obviously, and he's still a little brusque but I think he gets One's mannerisms and sense of humour better than David Bradley. Interestingly, this story also has him being misogynistic in a way that then gets reacted to/commented on (eg. telling Tegan to get them some refreshments/to stay in the TARDIS rather than going into the action), which is again not fully in character for One. However, it's nowhere near the level of character assassination in Twice Upon a Time.
One of the reasons I wanted to watch this now was because I'd seen people saying that the Doctor worked out the abandonment stuff with Susan here, but he absolutely doesn't. We don't even see her be collected by the floating triangle to get an idea of her life. She just appears and finds herself with her Grandfather, then we don't get to see their parting. Although there's no apparent animosity between them, and they fall straight back into their old dynamic, there's also nothing in the way of hashing out the whole "I shall come back" thing. If RTD is planning to make good on his many Susan hints, there's definitely still fertile ground there. You could even throw in a line acknowledging that "I saw you in the Death Zone on Gallifrey, but we didn't get to talk" or something similar.
Sidenote, I got extremely excited at Jamie's appearance. I was happy that Two got to hang out with the Brigadier, but I was a little sad it wasn't with Jamie because I thought I recalled Fraser Hines not being able to do this one. I may have been thinking of The Three Doctors, though, so it was such a joyous surprise when he appeared, even though I knew immediately that he and Zoe were illusions. If we do get Susan back properly (and I hope we do, with Carole Ann Ford specifically), can Jamie be next on the list for a main series return? I adored his appearance in Tales of the TARDIS, but I yearn for more!

[WARNING: discusses spoilers for episodes 1 & 2]
okay so I've seen some people are upset about the heart-shaped rain in the intro being related to nina and maggie rather than crowley and aziraphale (causing a rainstorm is apparently crowley's suggested method of making the two women fall in love as they'd be forced to huddle together) but like... is that not a pretty direct parallel to crowley and aziraphale huddling together in eden? because if anything this makes it even MORE of an aziracrow thing. like crowley's first thought about how to make somebody (nina, the snarky one) fall for the other (maggie, the sweet one) is to FORCE THEM TO SHELTER TOGETHER FROM THE RAIN?? THAT'S WHERE HIS MIND GOES?? he might as well confess right there and then!
also, we don't actually know at this point that it doesn't ultimately relate to them too, do we? maybe they get a little smooch in the rain after all? who knows?? this is the fucking wild west now baby!!! anything could happen!!

Welp I have fallen for a plot twist because I'm used to no one in anime being willing to wear a fucking wig.
Not that I know voice actors in general well enough to have picked up who IBOs obligatory masked man was just by his voice after existing for two episodes.
Even though that blonde fucker was conspicuously absent.
