OHHH, BOY. howdy there, anon!! thank you SO much for the question, because I absolutely LOVE getting to infodump about lore - lex is me but he's also a cooler me who has a cooler backstory and DAMMIT, I CAN AND WILL TALK PEOPLE'S EARS OFF ABOUT IT.

so take a seat, and, as the magician would say...

✨ LET ME TELL YOU THE STORY OF LEX ✨

I've talked about this kind of stuff a ton before, so you can get a deeper look into his background and how he met ray over here on this post! I'll sum it up by saying that lex is a weakling, a scaredycat, a chicken... all those synonyms. all of 'em. he can't fight, he's barely got any powers, he can't even throw a punch! he uses the excuse of being a natural pacifist, but he's just terrified of conflicts.

he's also got an ongoing identity crisis, so that's FUN. lex isn't actually a member of the same species as rayman - he comes from a divine alien species named stargazers, who watch and protect over celestial bodies! for whatever reason, lex ended up in the glade, with no recollection of who he was or how he got there. therefore, he never had to use the powers he could've had, and thus he never developed any. (maybe a good thing he didn't - he would've been terrified of HIMSELF if he had godlike powers...)

but anyways, yeah. lex has no idea of any of this. so he spends a long, long time trying to search for his place in the world, feeling like an outcast. someone who doesn't belong there. he looks like rayman, the magician, all those funky dudes, but he's got glowing antennae and a tail, what the heck is up with that?

I reckon his 'character arc' of sorts would be learning to accept that sometimes, you won't have all the answers. and that's okay. the universe works in mysterious ways and you don't need to make sense of everything. where he came from and who he used to be doesn't matter. what matters is who he is now, and the person he is now is someone who's surrounded by people that care about him despite his differences.

and rayman is a large part of him slowly learning to accept that, because he's with him every step of the way - from the moment they first met, even though lex was horrified, scared, and distrusting of him, rayman stuck by. and slowly got him to open up. ray definitely always knew that there was something more to him, no matter how much of an outer shell he may have had that needed to be cracked open first.

and in the end, the two just... feel connected to each other, in some strange way. and they can't quite put their finger on why, until lex finally works up the guts to confess to rayman that goddamn dude you make my heart do somersaults and it's weird and confusing but also I really like it let's kiss please. and rayman, whose heart is racing faster than a ferrari car, completely understands and reciprocates and goes sure man. let's kiss.

the two are dating by the start of rayman 3 (yes I have a cohesive timeline for my selfship), and get married somewhere in the time between the end of r3 and the beginning of rayman origins ❤ fun fact: they're dorks and propose to each other at the exact same time, in the midst of a high-stakes adventure disney's robin hood-style. the adrenaline just gets to them and they blurt it out simultaneously. and if that isn't love, I don't know what is!

DID YOU SEE WATCHING AND DREAMING. I CRIED.

Oh, I saw it!

First of all, I'm genuinely impressed that they wrapped things up in such a succinct and satisfying way after Disney pulled the rug out from under them. Apparently, (and I only just learned this) The Collector wasn't even part of the original plan? He was added after they found out they weren't getting a Season 3? That is wild, but in hindsight, yeah, I can kind of see it. And sure, we didn't get everything we wanted - personally, I'd have loved more development of Phillip's backstory - but overall it was a powerful conclusion. One thing that comes to mind is that we don't get much resolution on The Collectors/Archivists, even though to be frank, they are a problem. Enslaving and genociding their way across the universe, but the story just didn't have time to dwell on that. I've also seen people lament that this was mainly a showcase for the original three protagonists and that the ensemble didn't have much to do. True enough, but they're also called protagonists for a reason. It started with Luz, Eda, and King. It had to end with them too.

It's curious how there are multiple points where the story does a fake-out with The Collector and makes you think they're going to be the new Big Bad, but they never are. Certainly the end of King's Tide and the beginning of For The Future implied as much, but in the end it was always Belos. (And to a lesser extent, Kikimora.) I've got a whole post in the works about him, because I genuinely think he's one of the greatest villains ever written in modern media, which is a surprise even to me, but he totally is. And since this is the final episode, Dana dropped all pretense and had Belos scream that he would "cleanse this Perdition" himself. Which is a religious term. Yep, he's a Puritan bigot, and they're coming right out and saying it now. By contrast, we learn a lot more about The Collector and how he was never the bad guy. Seeing him sobbing in the corner, lonely and desperate for a friend...learning how the Archivists used him, enslaved his friends, and abandoned him...only for him to take the blame for their crimes...god, can you see why they're an unresolved issue? Fuck the Archivists. But by far, one of the most chilling lines was "So? Toys break all the time. You just fix em." Like. Wow. It explains so much, and gives us some insight into Collector/Archivist culture.

Belos possessing The Titan's corpse is something I never saw coming, but it works for me because Belos didn't realize it was possible either. Any more than he realized King was The Titan's son. Why would he? I love his surprised reaction, "The dog?" Especially coming from Raine's voice. I have to give credit where it's due to their voice actor. I bet it was a lot of fun to play Belos during those lines. But speaking of The Titan, I never expected to see him either, but man oh man do I love him. I can't really bring anything new to the conversation about how wonderful he is. From how he acts like Sans, to the casual way they reveal that he's bi-gendered, to the implications of a Hooty-like appendage sticking out of his eye socket. (Why didn't Hooty get any lines, by the way? That's a little disappointing...) Like he might be some kind of maggot that grows on Titans or something. I adore The Titan and his laid-back, good-natured attitude, complete with a bread pun message for his son! The way his works about Luz choosing herself echo back to Eda's words, and how Luz finally does it. I can't get enough of her Titan Form, by the way. Especially since it reminds me of Harpy Eda, and seems like Luz has taken on aspects of both her best friends. (Shame Amity never saw it, though...)

In general, Luz as a hero of this story works really well.

I'm not a fan of the fake-out death trope but they really got the most out of it here. (Similar to Frozen 2.) They reveal almost immediately that Luz is still alive, and what matters is that her loved ones think she's dead. The Collector is forced to deal with loss for the first time and he does not know how to handle it at all. King's rage is awe-inspiring, as is Eda's line about how she can't control herself. In general, the moment of Luz dying to save The Collector, in their failed attempt to pull the forgiveness trope? Oh my stars, that was poignant. And the actual scene of her simultaneously dissolving into goo and yet also turning into light? I don't know how else to describe it but if you saw the scene, you know what I'm talking about, right? The way The Camilia doll sheds a tear. The ball of light falling into the pool of liquid and turning back into Luz as it does. Luz's final thought being a realization of how she should have said goodbye. Like, oof...for a split second, I honestly thought we were losing her. Oh, and the music. The music told us Luz was dying long before anything else did. That track punches your feelz.

But I also love how there's an inversion of what we've come to expect. How Luz's friends are all using Glyphs but she, for the first time, doesn't need them. With the Titan's power, she can cast magic the normal way, with Eda guiding her in how to do it. It feels like comradery, like teamwork, like everyone coming together to save The Isles. Right down to Luz's declaration to Belos at the end. How she is both a child of the human realm and student of the demon realm. Unlike him, she didn't reject either world. She embraces both parts of herself. "Now eat this, sucker!" Ah, so satisfying. I'll talk more about Philip's death in my master-post about him, but since I'm just showering praise on Luz right here, I absolutely love her reaction (or lack thereof) to his final, last-ditch effort to scheme his way out of this, and his subsequent death. Like he said, she just stands there. The Boiling Rain doesn't even hurt her - since, at least in that moment, she's not human anymore. Philip's pretense is figuratively and literally stripped away as the rain causes his human form to melt and reveal the monster underneath. And Luz is all out of fucks to give. She and everyone else have been fooled too many times. It's not going to work this time.

...and then the whole thing is ruined with the stomp-out death, and a serious, poetic moment is played for laughs. Yeah, I know people love this, but I just wasn't a fan of it. Totally kills the tension, and it's not worth it when Belos is a character who hasn't ever come anywhere close to the comedy in this show. He's always been played straight. Also, The Collector smashed him into a wall at full speed, and that didn't kill him...but getting stepped on does? How? Why? It's just a little weak...

But never mind that, time to talk about the ending and epilogue!

I know a lot of people were disappointed that The Collector didn't stick around and get adopted into the big found family, but I like this. One, they were never looking for a family. They were looking friends. That was the word they specifically and repeatedly used. King and the others are still going to be their friends. Cause like, The Collector isn't leaving forever. The final scene proves that. They come and visit. Possibly all the time. But the point was made that he has a lot of growing up to do, and I love that. I love that it was his realization, too. And that final moment between him and King made me sob, even if everyone predicted it. I like how Luz loses the ability to use her magic, and I wouldn't even have minded if that had been permanent, but I also like how there's hope for something new. Hunter gets reunited with Darius (but not explicitly adopted by him. Hunter Noceda fans, y'all are still valid.) and there's seemingly no punishment for Odalia, but also no love. Alador gets a big hug, she gets squat.

Dana, I swear, that fake-out in the epilogue was uncalled for. "After all this time..." Had me gaping. But I will say that Camila's "Luz, you saw them last week." Was perfectly delivered and very funny. Vee is as cute as ever and I love the implication that she became Luz's adopted sister like we all wanted. Luz majors in everything because of course she does, (honestly, I can relate) and I don't even care that the new doorway to The Boiling Isles is incredibly conspicuous and easy for humans to stumble upon because Headmaster Eda! Head. Master. Eda. It's perfect. Amity's redesign makes her look like a pirate, I love it, she actually kind of resembles Alador. Gus's hair is on point, Willow's lost of a ton of her baby fat, and-excuse me? Blue Jay? Blue?! Jay!? Hunter got a new Palisman! And his name is Waffles?!? Nope, sorry, I can't. Nothing could destroy me more than thi-Flapjack has a grave?!?!? Yeah, no. I'm done. I'm out. Dana, you want my heart? Take it. This is just too much. Blair out.

I'm going to miss this show. So, so much.

oh my god. sorry but midway through this ask i just remembered that i still have something of a discord wip channel in use right now, but its not for full works and it IS for snippets. sometimes i have these little ideas in my head but theyre not good enough for a full fic so i just jot em down in a discord channel for (hopefully) later use.... the discord wips will never die

real talk? what you said about any finished work being an accomplishment makes me feel alot better about how irregular my fics are because i end up feeling guilty about how by the time my writers block is over, the fandoms are completely different .. and to be honest when you stop thinking about it it IS kind of funny because theres a. wow fanfiction and b. anime fanfiction. i wonder sometimes if people go to my page and have an aneurysm looking at the fandom list

Yeah this au the result of me finally figuring them out in my head lol i get you, it's basically a character study and is gonna be focused around some of what i said in this about them being punk and going into the city and wanting to inspire revolution while also being a story of the fab fours past, because since ponys a slightly older joy like, the fab fours older sibling since theyre like 18 in this while the fab four are all younger, like jets the same age i guess but poisons 17 in this kobras 14 ghouls 13, i might change those all around, probably will, but basically its like show pony coming of age and inspiring a mini revolution and ill get to go into like juvie hall culture in this which im super excited for because i never really have before, but its ponys coming of age story while simultaneously being the fab fours backstory, because ponys friends with droids and they know ghoul bc he was raised by droids, then they meet kobra who isnt kobra yet, not that any of the fab four are killjoys yet, aside from jet, since shes a sand pup, and poison, since they kinda know who they are, but they introduce kobra to ghoul, who turns him into a little renegade, i dont think any of this is spoilers cause it's like, im trying not to be super detailed, im trying to be careful, plus its headcanons ive posted about before and also a lot of its gonna be in the description like. Yeah thats whats gonna happen. Fab four meeting eachother cause of show pony and a little revolution. It'll be worded more interestingly but thatll probably be the description. But yeahh its their story while being focused of pony and the change they inspire and their relationships with their friends and not as much as the city events but their relationship with cherri and dr d since there'll be a liiiitle conflict there and just. them realizing who they are too in the midst of all this

Slight canon divergence premise where the sun rises earlier at the Mugen train set and the entire story changes. I adore this story, I have read it a while ago and I still think it to be one of the best in canonverse.

DON'T FORGET TO BREATHE by Zyloa BEST!!!! I love this so, SO MUCH! For a change, Kyojuro finds out about Akaza's backstory right at the beginning, when they first meet at the Mugen Train because he gets accidentally sucked into his dreams, thank you Enmu. It's a lovely fic, some moments really got… to my… heart?? I was holding my breath and squealing asdfghjk. Just. Too. Good. No spoilers on it but just when you think it couldn't get any better… it does.

SMOKE & MIRRORS by emilieee A favorite! Demon Slayer set in modern AU with demons and demon slayer corps still being a thing! It's slow-build but it's such good romance!!! Also, Em is evil and she enjoys Akaza suffering so if you're into Akaza suffering, there's that! The updates of this story literally never miss!

WHAT I WOULDN'T GIVE by DragonsAndCryptids T rated. This is a very lovely fic revolving around the concept of Senjurou becoming ill just like Ruka, and Akaza offers demon blood, so it deals with Kyojurou struggling to figure out if and how much he's willing to compromise to keep his little brother alive. Author's also writing a new RenKaza fic but I'm yet to start reading it!

THE NEVERENDING NIGHT by apodis This is absolutely wild. I LOVE this story, it just!! goes!! so hard!! It's like it's a book of its own and not a fan fiction. I'm sure you already know about this story but in case you don't, rush to it!

LITTLE FIGHTER BOY COMES MARCHING HOME by VTheTrashKing ADORABLE. But also very sad. Kyojuro's left to deal with a child version of Hakuji/Akaza. I think about this story a lot, sometimes I even sketch it. It's so nice.

IT'S ALWAYS SO by Chesh_Ire Sadly… :( This story hasn't updated anymore :( But I really loved the premise and these two chapters, so I'll drop them here anyway :( I thought about it so many times since reading it. Childhood sparring AkaRen (and then in the future stuff happens lmao), my heart!!

BIG REPUTATIONS by phanatics I thought at my age, after all this fandom experience 'I am NEVER reading fake relationship again'. But this is TOO good to pass on lol. Both make music and they need this fake relationship for different purposes. LMAO I'm obsessed with this fic!!! I think about scenes from it all the time haha embarrassing! I love all the social media posts and also how it manages to perfectly fit the canon story and characters into this AU setting. A lot of work into this one evidently!

INTO YOU by EloFromMars EXTREMELY CUTE because they're both unbearable. Hawks and Pro Hero Touya. They tease and annoy each other A LOT. I loved every second of it.

THRESHOLDS by phanatics Shiketsu high school AU. It's really cute and it will melt your heart. I really like stories where it's, you know, the little things, not necessarily 'too much', that make you go awwww. And this one does it. I actually wanna reread it as I type this.

This is not finished - the SCU section at the front is pretty lacklustre atm, and the ending is kind of abrupt, since im still sorting out the post-finale storyline route i want to go down, and how the hell to tell that through music alone. Oh boy. Schlatt, schlatt schlatt. Where to start with this guy? SCU. That's where to start. He's got SCU as backstory, ignores Tales/Earth for the most part. Need to gather my thoughts and post about them at some point, I suppose, but the long and short of it is minecraft worlds each run on different time scales in parallel, so you can spend a decade on one but bump into your friend a year after they last saw you, so you're 30 when they're 21 even if chronologically speaking they were actually older than you the last you spoke. Timey-wimey multiverse shennanigans - i've always thought this, but ever since Rendog posted his own video about the subject I no longer have to explain it myself, lol, so check out that guy's youtube channel for a much more coherent run-down than I'd ever give. (unless you want mine, feel free to ask in my inbox or ims - we do have different ideas, his are just more solid (mine's more magic, his is more science) and given he's a cc, more likely to spread.) Anyway point being; Schlatt went to university with Wil, but Wil fucked of to a fae world with Sally for a decade to raise Fundy, which makes him and Schlatt out-of-sync. Also, they were in uni in America, which is something Wil is very glad never got out, lol. Fishfucker from utah, goddamn...

adfalskfd anyway, jokes aside; Schlatt is 20-23, estimatable, during the run of the Election arc. I set him at 23 bc of Ghost Stories but it's really more like 21. I have him as SCU Schlatt completely unware of his own prior godhood (and continued godhood, if he'd just, you know, remember). He's an interdimensional demonic godly entity who thinks he's just some wolf/sheep/human hybrid with health problems and an alcohol addiction (not that he'd admit to the latter two, of course.) so, keep that in mind.

Also, the rest? Yeah. Probably not... a good idea to give Schlatt back all the memories he's lost... well. Hopefully he's changed enough, yeah? hehe. >:)

Ah yes, Big Q. So. Admittedly, by the count of the playlist, you could very well argue this guy is solidly in blorbo territory. I would have to admit the truth of the matter is just that. This does not, however, mean i get this fucking guy even a little bit, so I'm hoping this is a good playlist but i'm not convinced it is. 400+ songs, though, so there's a lot to chew through here. Covers pre-dsmp headcanons and post-dsmp reset finale au. Tries to keep his canon relationships all referenced but my god is it hard to figure out which were and which weren't. Went for; elaboration on Eret, focus on Karlnapity, Schlackity, and TNTduo. Pretty sure BBQ happened at some point but it's ignored. DapDup is presented here as mostly-platonic, but can be imagined whatever way you would like other than fatherly. Q is 20. Schlatt is 7 million. Q is his mentor, not his dad. They're best friends, they're peers. it's the EmeraldDuo issue all over again (granted a little different, but still). Point being; Slime is older, wiser, and more knowledgable than Q, but his worldview is a lot kinder than Q's when they meet, and what Q is trying to teach him is cynicism. In that, Slime's a novice. So he's the protegee, because Q wants to teach him what he can to keep him safe, and to have a net to fall on for LN's leadership if he's to kick the bucket (which Q is trying to avoid but definitely expects to happen, inevitably.) Anyway, yeah. Quackicle if you like, DapDuo if you don't, basically. (I Intended legacyduo to be platonic or at most queerplatonic, though.)

Q's introduction to the DSMP is as Tommy's fellow drug operation... er, operation-er. So, that's how this playlist starts. My backstory is a bit complicated, so i've left most of it out; suffice to say Q isn't a duck, though he lets people assume that and doesn't correct them, because it's easier that way. I'd be happy to explain more, but it's a hell of a long ramble, so not here.

Wilbur's a funny one, I really don't know.... how to feel about his character. Either way, the playlist exists all the same.

I borrowed a lot of these songs, I'll admit, from animatics and pre-existing playlists based around him. YMMV; feedback appreciated, if you feel like it.

Note: I do not take 'SBI' as a canon thing in the way most do. Philza is his father, Technoblade is a kind of brother figure, but he's not Philza's son, he's his friend/ex-empire-running-partner-in-crimes-against-anarchy, the hypocrites. Tommy is not Philza's son in any respect; Wilbur is a kind of, older-brother-father-figure, while Technoblade is an older-brother-distant-uncle figure, and Philza is just 'Wil's dad' (And, well, Doomsday happens. After that, it's just Philza). I choose personally to ignore some of the canon backstory for Tubbo; he's Tommy's friend first and foremost. This saves some complications later for me with character dynamics - I like nuance and interconnectedness, but it was giving me a headache trying to sort it all out, lol. Tubbo was found in a box - by Tommy, when skiving school. He got folded into Wil and Tommy's little almost-family situation over a period of time, and was never technically adopted by anyone. (Neither, to be fair, was Tommy. I mean, what authority would you ask, anyway? This is the minecraft multiverse. Which England do you go to to sign the papers? How would it even work?). Either way; Wilbur is Philza and Lady Death's son, not the son of a literal smart fridge, because i can kind of sidestep the fishfucking but i can't bring myself to even acknowledge that as more than a joke.

Anyway, yeah. Stop the ramble there; have a listen, if you'd like to.

Some notes: Tommy canonically ran some kind of drug operation with Q at the beginning; Wil and Q met through Tommy, not any other way around. I haven't quite reflected that in this, I don't think? it's sort of hard to. I mean, I need to figure out how Tommy and Q even met in the first place, as a point of contention. And, well... because it's just kind of not great to have to put reference to that sort of thing in a playlist for a kid, you know (since he was 16 at the start of all this, then, jeez. When did that all go down, exactly?). Honestly, this playlist isn't great in general. I tried my best, but I don't really know him that well.

I actually kind of like Dad!Schlatt but I'm bored by it being Tubbo, so. You know where I'm going with this one, right? Literal devil child. C'mon. You can't miss out on a pun (of circumstance, no less!) that good. Dad!Schlatt AU with Tommy as the literal devil child in question is taken as headcanon for my version of events. Like I said; i take what i'm given and i run with it, i mess around with it - I tend to ignore fanon and just do my own thing, even if it will inevitably on occasion contradict canon. What can I say? YogsMC was my first mcrp storyline, and that was a whole mess of mostly having to make up everything yourself. I got used to it, and the freedom is too nice a thing to let go of.

This playlist is not kind to Dream, given Exile and murder and all that, but it also doesn't pretend Tommy was some innocent who did nothing wrong. His literal first action was to murder George. Kid's messed up a lot, and is kind of prone to homicide. Keep that in mind. Again, however, being a perpetrator does not stop someone from also being a victim, and Dream 100% victimised Tommy. That's just not a deniable thing. Gaslighting isn't cool, guys. (and, for once, the term actually applies to something it's used to describe. wonders never cease.)

Dynamics:

Swinging a bat right out the gate - this is romantically intended pumpkinduo, aka schlackity. You were warned. My dsmp-post-finale-reset AU stuff is very much my own, and veers rather far from given canon. In fact, these playlists do a lot of swerving around the ballasts of canon. I think what i like about stories and tend to damn everything else - fanon included. I make up my own stuff; mileage will vary. I "endgame" pumpkinhusbands, in that sort of way where they're both terrible and should never bring anyone else into this mess and kind of deserve each other, but they're also just fucked up guys trying to get through the shit life they've been saddled with, and end up leaning on each other - a sure thing, if not... the best thing. So. Yk. (And Schlatt is a god with amnesia, but that's a little tangential. Only a little. I take SCU as backstory, and ignore Tales/Earth stuff. YMMV, again.)

Oh, also, i consider their dynamic mutually abusive in the election arc. if that troubles you, then pass on the Q, Schlatt and PHduo playlists. They have an arc in them, but that content warning is required. (Q was physical; schlatt was mental - as in, what they perpetrated. To put it simply; Schlatt used his words. Q literally beat him up when he said no to marriage and then went through with it anyway, without S's consent. That's very much not of the good. Q was a victim, sure, I don't disagree, but he was also a perpetrator. Abuse can be mutual. It's not uncommon, in fact. So, yes. They treat each other like shit, Schlatt dies, Q spirals, etc etc, not exactly a redemption arc but something akin to it, and they try again. Different people. Not worse, not better - just different. Aged. Changed. And it'll work this time, because they want it to. They didn't before, and that's always the failure. Relationships are commitments. They take work. A 19 year old ex drug dealer and a 21 year old alcoholic running a country are really not in the right place for anything like that. Marriage was the worst thing they could've done, and Q forced it on them anyway. Problems, problems. Interesting problems, but I can see the squick. So. Here's all this word jumble for your fair warning.)

This was not technically romantically intended TNTDuo, but they have at least a canonical history of having sex, so make of it what you will. (Canonically, wilbur is not in love with Q. Obsession is different from love, after all, and I agree with that sentiment if not the truth of the statement itself. Wil's fucked up and complicated, and so thus are his feelings for Q also. Q never quite fell in love with Wil, and quite distinctly fell out of whatever affection he'd managed to gain. They got lust though. they got that in spades. And, like i said - they're obsessive. Bad combo.)

(I don't really like the dapduo name, so sometimes i'll refer to them as legacyduo, interchangably. this is also interpretable as quackicle if you like, but wasn't necessarily intended as such - just as much as it wasn't not intended as such. Ambiguity. >:) )

Ace Markey

Pretty simple and out there, Ace is a massive coward. He's literally described as someone who hates anyone and anything. Though I've always wondered, *why* is Ace afraid of everything? I mean, the only reason he's the Ultimaye Jockey is because he's afraid of failure. How scared must you be of something to purposefully succeed infront of hundreds?

He's scared of things to a concerning degree, he's afraid of certain people, to a concerning degree. Very likely that he was a lot more calmer before all this, and that the aggressiveness is just to cover up his fear (albeit very poorly.)

I def think something.... happened. People tend to develop fears because they had a bad experience with em. For example, someone could be afraid of dogs and cats because they were scratched/harmed by one. Someone could be scared of swimming because they almost drowned.

Thing is though, Ace, like I said, is scared of *everything*. And I find it very unlikely he went through every possible accident from every possible thing that could presumably kill him.

So instead, I feel like one major incident is what made him this way. Something so big, so awful that it changed him entirely and how he perceives the world and its people. How big? Maybe a building fire, a kidnapping, etc. Something that could scar him for as long as he lived.

Now what about his HQ, 'I don’t know what to do with myself anymore'... Well, his life is possibly ruined. What can you do in a place where anything could possibly kill you? It's so overwhelming and scary, to feel so small in a dangerous world.

It obviously doesn't help that he's in a killing game where, quite literally, anyone could and would kill you.

Veronika Grebenshchikova

"Once something is broken, it can never be pieced together in quite the same way again. The same goes for people."

Veronika is one of the more... eccentric of the cast. She's a horror fanatic who lives for the thrill, she enjoys any form of horror whether it be books, movies, you name it. But just what exactly got her so engrossed?

I remember seeing a theory where Veronika was likely hospitalized for most of her life. She had also mentioned that she *used* to be really outdoorsy. Perhaps during her time in the hospital, she picked up consuming horror media as a fun past time, which slowly grew into an obsession, and now her actual Ultimate talent.

She probably holds horror very close to her heart if that's so, it's the one thing that kept her company and kept her going during her time there. How does her HQ fit into this though?

I feel as if she lost/broke something, or someone very dear to her. It's not worded in a way that makes you think that 'thing' is gone for good. Rather, it's broken in a way that can't be repaired to how it was originally.

Whether this is something said *by* Veronika herself, or it describes her, I don't know. If it's the latter, then perhaps it implies that something caused Veronika to change drastically. That 'something' probably being the incident that landed her in the hospital in the first place, assuming it's true.

When a vase is shattered, you can still repair it, but it will retain the cracks from when it broke. Similarly, a person will still be scarred both physically and mentally even if the matter that caused it is resolved. Yes, Veronika is still 'Veronika', but not the same Veronika from before.

Levi Fontana

"I always believed that a person is defined by their actions alone. But maybe that’s just a poor excuse for my heartlessness."

Levi's literal description says that he has a 'dangerous past that he's unwilling to talk about.' If that doesn't say anything, I don't know what will.

On a more serious note, he seems to take the safety of others very seriously. Showing anger and intimidation towards anyone dangerous, or whatever he thinks could hurt him and his friends.

Levi was probably.. not a very good person. He describes himself as heartless, thinking that he's just making poor excuses for it. Thinking that a person is defined by their actions is not a good way of thinking. There's always the person's intentions, their thought process before said action, and so on.

There's very little revealed about Levi, and it's hard for me to think of anything.. Maybe he feels guilt for the person he once was, and similarly to my other theories, acts this way just to feel better and atone for his wrong doings. The thought of a personal stylist suddenly having a dark backstory is eerie..

Well, what's their name? Do you have any pictures of them? Do you ship them with everyone bros or not? Aaaaand maybe a few facts about them :3

Did you write their story before Devildom? I always find it hard and just make a little episodes sometimes

Oh okay, I don't think I've ever really spoken about my MC in detail to anyone before

But I write fics about unnamed gender neutral MC x Mammon (I've posted 18 so far) and because it's hard to write MC with no actual consistent example in mind I base them off my particular MC and because of that a lot of my MC's backstory and attributes are derived from whatever snippets of information canon gives us?

This got really long cause I started writing out all my theories for OM's general MC... oops?

1. Their name is Eliza and they will tell you that it stands for "A-Lizard" because that's the truth (I had a little rubber Lizard stuck to my wall when I was trying to think of a name for MC and that's honestly where the name came from. My The Arcana MC is Len cause I had a Lenovo laptop in front of me at the time...)

2. My art skills more or less suck BUT there's this picrew that lowkey resembles some of the devilgram art styles?

Here it is (if anyone uses it @ me? cause I wanna see more MCs....)

3. Just with Mammon, they were lowkey interested in Lucifer at the beginning but with the way things fell into place they quickly changed track

4. OKAY facts (so like I said most of these are derived from actual parts of the game that I just theorised and expanded on):

a.) They're a wildlife photographer

• You know all those professional photographs on Devilgram that are taken from a weird angle and by a third party

• You know how in a lot of those pictures the brothers are giving heart eyes at the camera

• Well yeah...that's the reasoning behind this

• Plus a wildlife photographer needs to have an incredible amount of patience and the ability to stay calm and general MC has both of those

b.) They have chronic pain

• The lady on the train in S1 (Gisella ?) told MC that you never forget dying which feels very forshadowy

• And MC died a pretty painful and violent death

• The pain is mostly lowkey (because even though they - the alive MC - is the one that got attacked it was past MC that died so I imagine the pain would be somewhat muted) but there are days it flares up and it's on these days that Eliza avoids Belphie, and these days when Belphie has learnt to avoid them too

c.) They don't have an actual stable job and work small things while trying to find work in their actual field

• The fact that MC was looking for a job, as a babysitter, at the beginning of S3 and are upset when they aren't paid at the end of S3

• Both Asmo and Beel note that MC loses weight between the times where they separate and are reunited

d.) They don't have a family in the human world + they're the last in Lilith's line of descendents

• How ready MC always is to drop everything and go live with the brothers

• How in S1 when they go to London Lucifer asks if MC was hoping to get in contact with their family and they say no

• How readily MC accepts the brothers as their family in S2 and how happy they were when Lucifer gives them a key to the HoL, how they were willing to run away with the brothers at the end of S2 and never go back to the Human World and even pleaded with Diavolo to let them stay and how they call the brothers their family multiple times and in S3 they are 100% willing to officially join them

• If there were more people with Lilith's genes/magic I think they would have been worth mentioning? I mean ik OM! wouldn't because this is MC's story but realistically they would have been worth mentioning so I figured might as well make 'em the last in the line.

- The way I see it Lilith's magic travelled from person to person as she tried to find a way to see her brothers again. When a child was born the magic would leak into them over the years and the parent (Lilith's previous descendent) would get subsequently weaker until all the magic was transferred and Lilith's fragment of a soul was anchored to the child and the parent would pass away.

- Eliza's mother was an artist (I believe the creators wanted to make MC's mother an artist too?) who died when they were around nine and their father dipped even before they were born. They were bounced around from foster home to foster home and that's why they're so obsessed with having a real family and why even when they barely knew the brothers they were determined to help fix their family because they saw what the brothers could be and how they had something Eliza's always wanted but never had and yet how they're letting it all fall into ruins.

e.) It's questionable if they're fully human

• In a devilgram of Belphie's after Lucifer locks him in the attic Lucifer tells him that even if Belphie was able to call out to the Human exchange student in their dreams and get them up the stairs the room itself was charmed so that humans couldn't see it (I don't know if I'm remembering this wrong but to was something to that effect). In S1 Belphie tells MC that the stairs to the attic are charmed so that demons can't climb them. MC has no problem climbing the stairs and seeing the room but they're also definitely not an angel

• In S2 when MC starts using the pacts to make the brothers stop fighting they are able to command all the brothers in one fell swoop without feeling any sort of adverse effects or any difference at all really. Solomon is surprised by this and says the first time he used the pacts he felt like he might die

• In S3 even after MC identifies themself as a human to angel Lucifer he's still skeptical and doesn't seem to believe them, saying something along the lines of how he doesn't know what they are and he has a similar reaction if they try to identify themselves as an angel or demon, whereas he immediately identified Satan as a demon

- I think this is because Lilith was never fully an angel or a demon when she died and was reincarnated as a human. At that point she had fallen - so she was no longer an angel. But she hadn't turned into a demon - so she wasn't a real demon. She was stuck between the two when her soul was reincarnated. The soul of a literal Fallen Angel in the body of a human and this unique new kind of magic is what has been passing down the generations

- Some irl stories refer to Lilith as the mother of monsters/demons and so yeah

f.) Eliza wears binders in S1 but gets top surgery between S1 and S2

- This has no basis in the actual OM! canon (obviously) just that being part of a family in s1 helped them a lot and they started leaving behind their more guarded personality (this part is actually something Lucifer notes in early S2) and expressing themself more. Midway through S1 they also start getting unusually lucky with money so that helps. Through S2 & S3 they start straying away from wearing exclusively jeans and oversized hoodies, wearing clothes that even reveal more skin or even clothes that are considered as stereotypically "feminine" that they usually stayed far away from (though they still default to more gender neutral clothes and they always have a hoody on hand) and even growing out their hair on occasion instead of cutting it the second it grows an inch too long (they still cut it real short at the end but sometimes they even let it grow enough to be able to properly tie it up before they think it's time to cut it). Just like with general MC they become more outspoken and emotive after S1 and part of the reason for this with Eliza is that they feel more comfortable with themself and their body and finally having a group of people who love you to death and back and support you no matter what helped with that a lot

5. I do have an idea of their story from before the Devildom. I'm pretty sure I mentioned all of it up there ^ I usually really find it hard too (none of my other MCs from games have proper backstories) but Eliza's came easily to me when I just took minor details from the game and built it up from there

Okay so this got much longer that I realised but this is the first time I've spoken so much about them and I got excited? I'd love to hear more about everyone else's MCs too!!!

namely, I've been wonderin why the Fairfield Survivors got thrown off the boat in Death Toll

in this panel of The Sacrifice comic, Francis confirms the fates of three of the rescue vehicles:

the chopper from No Mercy was confirmed crashed in Crash Course, and as for the plane from Dead Air, it was pretty easy to guess (and would have been confirmed in the cut campaign Dam It).

but the part about the boat? that's the Slaters' boat from Death Toll. this is the first time we learn this information.

so...why? what happened?

so. let's take a quick dive into the last chapter of Death Toll, to see what we can discern about the Slaters from their dialogue.

the rescue vehicle in Death Toll is a civilian boat, Saint Lidia II, owned by John and Amanda Slater, a married couple. Amanda is never heard in-game, but John's reactions to her can be heard over the radio.

the Slaters are explicitly looking for "anyone out there with firearms". John later adds that "once you get on this boat? Your job is keeping our asses alive". it appears that their motivation for saving the Survivors is selfish from the get-go.

this is undoubtedly true in Amanda's case, however, some of John's lines betray a more selfless attitude. he will berate Amanda for not "think[ing] about the little guy". he will ask, "So what, then? We leave 'em to die? I can't do that, Amanda." whilst Amanda is thinking purely of their own survival, John still feels compassionate towards his fellow survivors. despite this, he says that "I don't want our first act of kindness to be our last", acknowledging the conflict between his compassion and his self-preservation.

so. these are the Survivor's saviours in Death Toll. a conflicted married couple looking for bodyguards, offering to take the Survivors upriver to a military safe zone in exchange for protection.

as for why they get thrown off the boat...well, the easiest explanation would be Amanda.

but, stay with me here, because I think it's a little more complicated than that.

this boat? fulla tension. there's the obvious tension between the Slaters, who we've established seem to fight and disagree regularly. then there's the inevitable tension between them and the Survivors. I reckon Louis, with his generally positive and friendly attitude, wouldn't have much of a problem with them, might even attempt some friendly conversation or something. however, he's about the only one.

the comic fully establishes Bill as caring about nobody except the Fairfield Survivors - the most obvious evidence of this being the words he lives and dies by, "we look after our own". he isn't particularly interested in other people, unless they can help the group out. and he'd likely recognise the unstable and conditional nature of their rescue. while I'm sure he'd try and keep the peace, in any reasonable disagreement or fight Bill's likely to take his friends' side, and if anyone's getting thrown off the boat Bill is going with them. this goes for the whole group, to be honest; I don't think they'd want to split up at this point.

Francis hates boats, hates water, and can't swim, so (and I'm getting a little speculate-y here) would probably be in an even sourer mood than usual on the journey. being as abrasive as he is, plus this additional stress, it's fully possible he could piss off the Slaters enough to get himself (or all of them) thrown off the boat.

as for Zoey? well, I don't imagine a married couple who constantly argues is gonna sit well with her, considering her backstory. similarly to Francis, the situation they're in would make her far more stressed, making it more likely for her to lash out.

Amanda didn't want to save the Survivors in the first place, so while I think that John wouldn't throw them off the boat without reason, I reckon she could persuade him to throw them off if they 'caused trouble' - and they would get into an argument with her far easier than they would with John.

in short: yeah, I can see them getting thrown off the boat by the Slaters after some huge fight or disagreement. I think that's a reasonable interpretation of canon, and definitely an interesting concept.

...however, I do wonder if this tension would really be enough to destabilise their mutual need, after everything they went through to come together.

which is why I'm going to bring up The Last Stand!

I gotta quickly address something before this segment: yeah, I'm totally aware this campaign isn't canon. this evidence works with the fact that it exists in an 'alternate timeline'. also, I am missing a few citations for this section - if anyone can provide them I'd really appreciate it, but just a disclaimer that I currently can't prove some of the things the wiki claims members of the Last Stand Community Update Team have said. here and here are the wiki pages where I got this information. in short - the above explanation is simpler and more canon compliant, the conclusion I draw at the end of this post is backed by shakier evidence but I believe is more interesting, and you can make of all that what you will.

allegedly, members of the Last Stand Community Update Team confirmed a strongly-suspected fan theory about The Last Stand: that it branches off from Death Toll in some way, in a non-canon alternative timeline. as well as this, they allegedly confirmed that in this alternative timeline, the Survivors still end up in Newburg for Dead Air. even without the confirmation, this remains a solid fan theory, due to the constant references to Riverside and re-use of many of Death Toll's assets.

who rescues the Survivors in The Last Stand? John Slater. no Amanda - just John. despite her lack of voice actress, if she was still present John would give some indication of this at some point. it can be speculated that whatever happened to her contributed to the lack of rescue at the boathouse that forced the Survivors to take an alternative route. either way, he ends up at the lighthouse when the Survivors call for rescue, alone, and picks them up.

and then later...throws them off the boat. into Newburg.

what reason would John have to do that? without Amanda, surely he wouldn't have that push, as he wanted to rescue the Survivors for multiple reasons in the first place. without his constant arguments with Amanda, Zoey wouldn't be nearly as stressed. and between the three of them I'm sure the other Fairfield Survivors would stop Francis from pissing John off enough to get them thrown off the boat. in short, less Amanda = less tension, and no reason for the Survivors getting chucked off the boat.

...right?

I'd like to remind you that a symptom of the Infection is paranoia.

what if, in both The Last Stand and Death Toll, John and Amanda are infected by the Survivors on the way to the military safe zone? after all, the virus is confirmed to occasionally be airborne, and I doubt two civilians have completely effective, sustained protection against that. likely the only reason they hadn't already been Infected is because they got out on the water early on in the pandemic, and hadn't come into contact with anyone else since. it's unlikely that one of them is immune, and even more unlikely that they're both immune (especially considering those with XX chromosomes may be genetically less likely to be carriers). wouldn't Francis have mentioned it if their rescuers turned or were obviously Infected? yes, but it's possible that the airborne strain works slower as well, meaning that the Survivors are thrown off of the boat after the symptoms kick in but before the Slaters fully turn. even Church Guy had at least an hour from being Infected to turning, and he was bitten. Newburg isn't too far from where the Survivors are rescued in Death Toll anyway (the burning city in the background of the finale is Newburg), so the Survivors clearly didn't last long on the boat anyway. as a result, the Survivors wouldn't realise it was the Infection intensifying the Slaters' paranoia - they'd just think the Slaters were being dicks. Francis also explicitly mentions that they were "left to die", implying negativity or even hostility from the Slaters as the Survivors were being thrown off.

so yeah. that's why I think they got thrown off of the boat in Death Toll - a combination of the intense tension between the two parties, and the Slaters falling victim to Infection-induced paranoia. but an explanation minus the Infection is equally as plausible. it all depends on what you find most interesting, I suppose, and both feel like they fit pretty well into the world.

lord this is a long chunk o text. I know most fandoms prefer art and fanfic over this sorta thing, so please let me know in replies or something if you're interested in more stuff like this. also if any of this makes sense because I like to ramble.

He's also very worried after, asking and talking to you about how you started and why you do it, if there is a reason, who and what hurt you, etc.

If you happen to have a particularly sad backstory, he'll 100% cry while apologizing for everything that has happened to you, as though he were the source of your pain.

When you assure him that nothing that occured in your life before was his fault, he'll just hold you close and tell you he loves you.

Lester Sinclair

This smol bean probably takes it the hardest out of all the boys mentioned.

Of course he know what his brothers do, but it doesn't mean he particularly enjoys taking part in the actual killings.

He's never directly killed someone, and he doesn't ever want to, so the fact that you do is definitely going to baffle him.

He'll respond calmly and with understanding, but he'd feel a little sad.

No no he's not mad at you or disappointed in you, he could never be.

Its just that to him it seems that him and all the people around him has some kind of connection to death, and he honestly is too kind and empathetic for that life.

He wished he were more normal. Have a normal life in a real, populated small town, have you and his brothers at his side, working a decent but humble job. He dreams of interacting with co-workers, local shopkeeps, and neighbors, thinking that if he had those kinds of opportunities, maybe he would be less socially awkward.

Lester doesn't hide his feelings well, so you notice the absence of his jovial manner, and asks him about it respectfully.

He confesses his feelings while apologizing profusely.

The conversation probably ends with you both sobbing into each other's arms.

Currently reading: The Nolan Variations: The Movies, Mysteries, and Marvels of Christopher Nolan written by Tom Shone. The book is about going deep down into Nolan's films, such as; discussing about his process on filmmaking, studying his signature themes, going thru' a little bit of his backstory, and so much much. Even though I'm not even halfway thru' the book yet, I've been enjoying it so far! I gotta be honest, I don't really read non-fiction or biography books—but this one got me hooked. I'm a big fan of Chris Nolan's work and after hearing about this book, I just gotta buy it and read it. And it was worth it.

Last song: Troye Sivan — Angel Baby. A few days ago my friend sent me this song. And ever since then, I couldn't stop listening to it. For me, this is the kind of song you can't help but to imagine fictional scenarios you know you won't experience :)

Last movie: Sooo I think I'm gonna put this in two categories!

Last newest movie: Dune (2021). My mom and I went to the theaters a few weeks ago to see this movie. And I think this is like the first movie I ever saw in theaters after being stuck in quarantine i didn't get to watch tenet in theaters which is really sad. Unfortunately, the place we went to wasn't really good... The screen was too dark and I was too distracted by that, I couldn't really focus and it sucks 'cuz the visuals of this movie is actually so damn good!

Last re-watch: Ocean's Eleven (2001). I'm a sucker for this fandom. I always find myself re-watching Ocean's Trilogy and Inception (2010) nonstop to the point where my brother always call me out and couldn't handle it anymore.

Last series: I think it was Stranger Things! I'm late to this fandom, like really late. If it wasn't because of my cousin, I wouldn't have watched this series in the first place.

So I've been deeply pulled into the Radiosnake pairing bc of your fantastic writing! Problem is, now I have fic ideas but no knowledge of the Hazbin background. Can you tellI me where I can get more Hazbin info? I've only watched the pilot and read your stuff. I heard there were comics??

That is an excellent question anon, because right now it is really hard to get Hazbin background easily.

Okay, so, the canon info on Hazbin Hotel can be sort of sorted into four tiers, from most to least canon.

Tier 1: The Definitely Canon

There is, of course, the pilot. And then there is an Angel Dust prequel comic, only seven pages of which have been released so far. We’ve been told it’s gonna be finished and we’ve had glimpses of in-progress prequel comics for a couple other characters—most prominently Alastor’s and Charlie’s—but so far that unfinished Angel Dust comic is the only one that’s been officially released.

Finding the in-progress comic pages is... a challenge. Nobody, as far as I can tell, has been specifically collecting all of the pages we’ve seen so far. I was able to scrounge up:

There’s a smattering more canon panels on the artist faustisse’s twitter, but I haven’t dug them all out, and some of the posts I’m gonna link in a lil bit have a glimpse of another panel.

If you haven’t already heard of Helluva Boss, I recommend looking into it as well. It’s a second series being created by the same folks, different cast of characters but set in the same version of Hell, so any canon details we learn in Helluva also apply to Hazbin.

Earlier this month, during a BLM charity stream hosted by show artist Ashley Nichols—she runs regular streams under the title “HuniCast”—they released a few sneak peaks of future Helluva scenes, all compiled here.

And that’s it for canon. Two pilots, a music video, a smattering of future scenes, part of one comic, a few WIP pages/panels from other comics.

Tier 2: Pseudo-Canon

Everything else we currently know about Hazbin (and Helluva) are things that the creators have told us. Consequently, they’re all pseudo-canon—and likely subject to change in the future as the shows and comics are further developed and released. Some details that were released/described in the past have been contradicted at other times, or else radically changed by the time the pilot came out.

(For example, when Alastor was first created years and years ago as an OC with no plans for Hazbin, he was a demon deer who could shapeshift into a human shape—now he’s a demonized human with a few deer traits. And Charlie and Cherri Bomb used to look very different.)

So until and unless they make it into canon, all these pseudo-canon details are subject to change and should be taken with a grain of salt—but, they also comprise most of what we know about the characters’ backstory and the as-yet-unaired characters.

Pseudo-canon info on Hazbin is scattered mainly between two sources: the creators’ twitter accounts, and livestreams where they take questions and talk about the making of the show. If you and livestreams do not get along (my ADHD and livestreams do not get along), or if you don’t want to wade years and years back into twitter accounts to dig up every scrap of info on the characters the creators have ever mentioned, collating all the pseudo-canon info is gonna be hard. (It’s gonna be hard even if you do want to sit through the streams and dig through all their tweets.) Lots of fans, me included, depend on the absolutely heroic work of various fans who are willing and able to watch hours-long streams and collate a list of canon factoids released during the streams. Dollymoon’s Hazbin Hotel Facts - PART ONE (Shoutout again to dollymoon for compiling these, we’ve never spoken but I am eternally grateful for this service. Dollymoon’s posts are THE single most reliable compilation of Hazbin Hotel’s nebulous pseudo-canon facts that I have found to date, including both links to the sources and timestamps where applicable. Dollymoon’s URL has changed since making this post so the “read more” link doesn’t work but the “source” or “reblogged from” links direct correctly to the new blog. And those are all the masterposts of factoids I’ve managed to collect. If anyone has more masterposts, chuck ‘em at me.

Even this isn’t all the knowledge that’s been released about the show. The posts that dig the farthest back are Dollymoon’s, and even they don’t comprehensively cover all of Hazbin’s production. A couple of these characters, Vivziepop created as a teenager, so there’s some truly ancient concept art floating around out there that will have details that probably aren’t canon anymore... but might still be until something happens to actively contradict them.

Tier 3: The Wiki

The wiki is kind of an absolute mess. It’s a chaotic blend of things actually seen in the pilots/comic, things mentioned at some point in some stream somewhere, and wild fan speculation based on what they headcanon as plausible based on the above, all mixed together with very little indication for which is canon, pseudo-canon, fanon, or speculation. Most of the statements on the wiki don’t have citations.

(And, on top of that, half the main characters’ info gets split up into separate tabs instead of just having a normal-ass wiki page, AND their image galleries are on COMPLETELY SEPARATE pages that are linked to in one of the tabs, and the most important characters all have TWO SEPARATE GALLERIES. Which doesn’t have anything to do with the quality of the facts hidden underneath those tabs, but nevertheless drives me up the wall.)

Some things on the wiki were added according to info released so long ago it’s probably changed by now. Some are possibilities that got reported as facts. Other things on the wiki have unambiguously changed, or else are just flat-out incorrect. (For instance, at this moment Alastor’s page still lists him as an overlord, even though it's been confirmed that Alastor is not an overlord despite his power level because he isn’t interested in and didn’t pursue that position, per this stream. For a little bit, somebody’s fanart of their headcanon human Alastor got added to the wiki as concept art.)

tl;dr: the wiki should never be trusted as a primary source. The wiki’s better than it used to be. Even so, at this time, it’s only trustworthy to fill in the gaps of what you already know is true from other, better sources.

The thing it’s good at is it more or less compiles all the known info all in one place. Trying to figure out who the hell this Vox guy is is really hard if you’re reading for mentions of him in compilations of a dozen different streams, much less if you’re trying to comb through those dozen streams yourself, plus a dozen more, plus three different artists’ twitters. In comparison, it’s really easy to, say, just go look at Vox’s wiki page, where all the trivia is compiled. (And Vox’s page is actually one of the better cited on the wiki. Look at all those numbers!)

So, if you need to find out who this character is you’ve never heard of before, if you want to see a full list of the thus far named characters, if you don’t remember whether Alastor likes coffee or tea, if you want to know what Angel’s twin sister looks like, if you need a reminder of Sir Pentious’s death year... check the wiki. It’s an okay starting point.

But, if you see a “fact” on the wiki that you yourself don’t remember from straight out of the pilot, and it doesn’t have a citation that links to a tweet or a stream... regard it suspiciously. And do not trust it unquestioningly as fact until and unless you have seen the source.

Tier 4: Noncanon Creator Shitposting

I’ve mentioned Ashley’s HuniCast streams a couple times. The biggest draw of them is that she usually gets several of the voice actors in the streams, where they’ll happily say nonsense in their character voices. For the most part, they’re not sharing any actual canon info they’ve been given on their characters, just goofing around pretending to be their characters. Nevertheless, a lot of the things that happen in streams get accepted as broad fandom headcanons, like Alastor being into dad jokes. (My favorite, for obvious reasons, is this one.)

It’s easy to find the source audio for all this wonderful nonsense by searching youtube for “HuniCast highlights,” and then rummaging around for animatics people make out of the audio. The only one noncanon video of this sort I can think of that didn’t originally come from HuniCast is a lone one from Alastor’s singing voice (who’s a different voice actor than his speaking voice).

So, obviously, none of these are canon. But they do come from some of the people actually involved in the creation of the show, and they are in the characters’ canon voices, so a whole lot of people treat them as semi-canon anyway. (Even the wiki lists “dad jokes” among Alastor’s likes, which to my knowledge hasn’t come up anywhere except for HuniCast streams.) Since they’re so broadly-known, they’re worth knowing about as important sources of fanon, even if you don’t want to adopt them into your own headcanons. They’re basically the same level of canon as blooper reels.
