What a year, huh.

I'm not going to talk about how everything is going to shit in the real world, that's not what this post is about.

I can remember that before Gotham, I had a bit of trouble trying to get inspired about art. I did end up doing a lot of original art due to that, tho. Gotham was the nice return to a hyperfixation that got me back to creating, which felt like a saving grace tbh. I draw A LOT, you may have noticed. I thank my ADHD for that. So, when I'm unable draw I do struggle spending my time in any meaningful way.

I also started reading again this year. Murderbot Diaries got me by the throat, I love those books so much. I've also liked T. Kingfisher's books so far, haven't read that many yet, tho. I also read in english, not the translated versions, so it's a nice way to "use" my english skills.

I finally started needle felting this Christmas! I've been meaning to do it for yearsss. Bunnydog was my ever first attempt, Slowpoke was my second.

Arcane season 2. Woohee, I had totally forgotten when it was going to drop! It was a good thing tho, I was saved from a lot of painful waiting around, hah. I might've chickened out of the Zaundads fandom back in the day but it's so much more chill now. Well, kind of. I do see people complain a bit in the tags. Plus I bet it's a lot worse in other sites. ANYWAY!

I feel like that in this short time after season 2, I've gotten better at art and got my groove fully back. I am so grateful for people who just keep being so nice and support me here adsfsdfo! I said it back in 2021/2022 I think but I'll say it again: zaundads fandom has been one of the nicest fandom I've been part of. (I have to mention tho, so is riddlebird fandom)

I'm still a bit overwhelmed with all the attention I'm getting, I admit, but I am also so happy I get to share my unhinged love for this stupid little man.

My next year will start with job hunting and balancing my mental health (I've been "in recovery" for years, it's gonna be a adjustment to start working. I am still very much struggling but not as much so I have to find a job that doesn't kill me in a month lol).I've also made one new years resolution which is that I will more actively display and live my preferred identity and not just go "eh whatever, I know how I actually feel like so". Not gonna be easy because I get embarrassed about everything and will want to backpedal so hard at the start but uhhh...I'll try not to? Eh.

Yea. So a lot of new things for the next year and I already feel tired. But hopeful!

As a self taught artist, how many years have you been drawing. They’re really good. Trying to mentally prepare myself so I’m not too overly critical with myself.

Hello!💕 I've been drawing since I was a kid, art has always been a hobby of mine. Although I never took it seriously and I drew on and off. It's only been this past few years that I'm trying to draw more!

I'm gonna share this: I often get very critical of myself and my own art, thinking why are these artists improving so fast while I take years to see an improvement, and I get discouraged. But everyone learns at their own pace so please don't be too critical with yourself when you jump into it. You also don't need to prepare yourself, the most important thing is making sure you enjoy what you create and have fun! (It's when you draw with passion that gets the best results!)

sidney: yeah, buttercup, bee, bumblebee - she's got lots of nicknames *laughs* she finished university, doing a double major in sports management and biochemistry. which is pretty tough, especially since she was on the hockey and lacrosse teams. but she loved it, and she somehow managed to graduate in four years, so i'll take it! she's going to med school in chicago now, trying to be an anesthesiologist.

podcaster: wow, that's - that's a lot

sidney: *laughs* it's a lot, yeah

podcaster: fans noticed that you've been going on vacations more during the summer. is that to get bee's mind off of school, because you're not playing anymore, something else?

sidney: oh, it's a mix of everything, i suppose. bee's real busy during the year. she went to stanford for four years, now she's in chicago - like over the last few years, she's just had a lot on her plate. so yeah, we like going out a lot during the summer. but we spend time at home too. we all play monopoly together, we go fishing, they push me in the water-

sidney: not anymore, bee made sure of that. it's worse because they got connor involved in this too, so it's three on one. i mean i used to hold the fact that i'm a better hockey player, but they've been breaking records and i'm out of the game now, so- *shrugs*

sidney: what're you gonna do? i mean, nate's been here too long for me to kick him out, and connor - it doesn't look like he's leaving any time soon.

podcaster: connor bedard's been having a great career, especially over the last few years. do we have you to thank for that?

sidney: no, no, he's a great kid. he's really good at hockey, he was amazing even during his earlier seasons. but i think the media was a little bit crazy about him, and once they calmed down, he got a chance to flourish. nothing to do with me, he's great on his own

Ok ok here's my witchy klaine au idea for the spring 2026 fanzine. I've had this au idea for YEARSSS and it's just been rattling around in my head like a the last tictac left in the box lol

Magic is a normal part of life, everyone knows about it, but it's treated similarly to how we treat tradework (welders, electricians, plumbers, etc etc). High society doesn't bother with it, bc they can just pay someone to do magic for them. If you wanna learn magic, you go to magical trade school.

Kurt is in such a school, learning magic, working mostly in potions (skincare, hair treatments, as well as more fantastical stuff like prism hair dye that shimmers like holographic glitter that he's trying to invent). He also works in enchanting textiles. He's in his final year at trade school and so he's an apprentice at a potioneer's lab, working on perfecting his prism hair dye, and he needs ingredients.

Since he's new in the area, his boss (SJP's character, the one that hired Kurt at vogue.com in canon, can't remember her name right now) recommends Anderson Apothecary. So Kurt goes to check it out. Thing is, Kurt HAAATES going to apothecaries, they're always messy and crowded and run by some old fucker making cures for acne out of bird shit or whatever.

So Kurt finds Anderson Apothecary, it's some hole-in-the-wall establishment with an old wooden sign and creaky wooden floorboards. But it isn't a mess inside, everything is labeled and organized alphabetically, it smells like a fresh breeze through a clover field, and there's a HELLA cute guy at the counter grinding up herbs with a mortar and pestle. Aka Blaine lol

Blaine took over the family business bc Cooper took off to LA to be an actor, and Blaine loves working with plants and has always had a knack for it over the spellwork taught at trade schools. The shop has been in the family since like 1800 or something.

Anyway Blaine is happy to help Kurt find the ingredients he needs for his work (regular stuff like rosemary, pine tar, osage bark, arrowroot, etc), as well as suggest some rarer/harder to work with plants to experiment with for his prism hair dye (some fictional flower called Aurora Iris that changes color, snake root, jewelweed) and some minerals/crystals (labradorite, rainbow moonstone, quartz pieces with prismatic fracture inclusions)

Basically Kurt keeps coming back under the pretense of perfecting the recipe for the hair dye, even after he's gotten it to work and only needs to adjust the alchemy of the ingredients and the incantation when mixing them (aka stuff that he can do on his own without the help of an apothecary). Blaine notices of course but humors him bc cute

They get to know each other, start hanging out, doing fun magic stuff together (other than making magic hair dye and skincare Kurt uses magic to fix Blaine's torn jeans, and outside of his apprenticeship he's also really good at charming objects so he charms a little tin bird to sing and gives it to Blaine; Blaine keeps it on his windowsill in his apartment above the shop 🥰)

Blaine isn't as good at actual spells, but he can do a few. He's especially adept at ones that he uses at work; IDing the ingredients used in a potion, or singing to plants to weave magic into them so they produce a particular effect. One that he's been good at since childhood, however, that he is kind of embarrassed about but Kurt loves, is manifesting snow. Like really pretty sparkly soft snow. Obviously it doesn't impress much in the winter and any other time of the year the magic fades and the snow melts before it can build up much. But Kurt just loves it lol.

Blaine also makes talismans with minor enchantments; one that makes you feel slightly warmer (for winter), or cooler (for summer), one that keeps you from getting hungover (results may vary), one that boosts your confidence, etc.

Anyway. Kurt gets his hair dye perfect; it's like a top coat for your hair and makes it shimmer in rainbow colors in the light. It becomes hugely popular, Instagram influencers are desperate for it, and Kurt can't make it fast enough. His boss is thrilled, and Kurt is happy he got his idea off the ground. His boss wants to send him to some distant city where the company has a factory to start production on mass-producing the hair dye, and Kurt is torn. He would need to withdraw from the apprenticeship program he's in with his trade school to do it; he could pick it back up later, but it's never ideal to leave a program like this before finishing. Apprenticeships are hard to come by, and he was very lucky to get this one, and there's no guarantee that he'll be able to get another. Even if he did, it's highly unlikely it would be in this same city (I'm imagining Boston or for some reason, some city with a lot of old infrastructure and businesses still standing).

Obviously he doesn't wanna leave Blaine either, who he's long since fallen for, probably dating at this point. But also, he doesn't want to mass produce. He's never liked mass production of magical products, as there's ethical ambiguity due to working conditions in magic factories and some of the quality of the product will be lost in the process. Blaine tries to convince him to go through with it, as this a huge opportunity.

Eventually Kurt decides not to do it, opting to finish his apprenticeship and continue making the prism hair dye by hand. He sells it out of Blaine's shop. He and Blaine end up living together above the shop.

After graduating trade school and finishing his apprenticeship, Kurt starts his own line of hair and skincare potions, continues selling the now famous prism hair dye, as well as making some new effect hair dyes like glittery ones and color-changing ones. Blaine keeps running the shop, which is now more popular than ever due to Kurt's products, and his talismans.

They live happily ever after THE END :)

oooooo!!!!!! fascinating question- honestly! i do not have many voice claims! even the ones i have i know aren't perfect, bc i have really strong voices for my characters in my head! so for me to pick a voice claim, they gotta be like, 95% or higher close, and im soooo picky. even Kennedy's, when I had a dream as Kennedy my voice wasn't their voice claim but instead their actual voice

so i can basically give you all of them! its like. 4 guys i think.

This isn't a big deal at all, but I'm visiting my home country rn and I quite literally never hear Taylor on the radio here. Since moving to the US, I heard Love Story once yearsss ago, Anti-Hero once last year, and that was it. I haven't even been here a week and I've heard her thrice. Which wouldn't be an issue except she plays every fucking time I leave my house in the US either on the radio or at a store or at work. It's just too much!! I can't think of another recent artist that's been overexposed as much as Taylor and it's just a bit tiring. I hope she takes a long long break after Eras tour and the overexposure dies down.

Don’t know if this will be a long winded answer but, why did catfish break up and why is van coming back alone?

I listened to them in the past but was never too into the personal lives, but I could have sworn I saw an interview where van said they were friends and he wanted to be in band so they formed one. Like they were friends first

Okay so I am not the expert here and @catb-fics might be able to fill in any gaps.

But to try and keep this brief rather than give you the David Attenborough series on it, Van, Benji and Larry were all friends first, originally they had two other members in catfish, one was Billy Bibby and then the other idk? But billy was on guitar and the other drummed, idk what happened there but they both left... (This was fucking ages ago though, pre any albums as far as I know)

Anyway Bondy was playing with another band at the time, that Van was a massive fan of, I remember hearing or reading somewhere Van say he basically begged Bondy to join the band cause he was Bondys No1 fan.

So Bondy kind of wasn't friends with them to begin with, like wouldn't have been anywhere near as tight as Van/Benji/Larry.

Bob I think was in school with them but wasn't friends with them, idk how they met but he joined the band after the original line up too and from the sounds of it wasn't besties with the others pre joining?

I've nowt to back any of this up with either btw

Anyway yes I guess the two people who have left were not there from the beginning anyway so it does make some sense as to why when things went wrong they were the first to leave.

Other than that we haven't exactly had a concise or balanced/official statement as to why they broke up.

So it sounds like it was a breakdown in relationships.

I personally feel that it's probably to do with the way catfish were thrown into fame, relentlessly worked to the bone for like 5 years and didn't get any rest, that does untold damage to mental health and personal relationships and it's actually not all that uncommon for bands to fall apart under that much pressure.
