Am I so excited to finally be sharing this story that I made a cover image for it? You bet I am!

A Lovely House of Bones is a story very much inspired by @tyranttortoise and her wonderful "Skeletons Squatters and the Landlady" because goddamn am I a sucker for tropes and found family and slow burns, and she inspired me to write my own take on the concept.

Chapter 1 will go up on Saturday July 29th, and I plan on releasing new chapters every other week going forward, so there will be something of a consistent update schedule (fingers crossed!)

I've been rolling this story around in my head for a long time, so it's so exciting to finally be putting it out into the world. I really hope you guys enjoy it! ♥

So I'm a huge Beatles fan, and the whole aesthetic of MUSE is really giving off 70's retro vibes to me? I've seen a lot of people point this out, especially with the little vinyls and now the cassettes. But especially now with Jimin's pre-release being titled 'Smeraldo Garden Marching Band' (😭) I'm definitely getting Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band vibes?? which, I can't even begin to talk about how excited that makes me?

And I think this was a FACE pre-order bonus? or something like that

And there's that clip from Jimin in NYC with Pdogg that Vogue released we're they're looking at vinyls and they talk about the Beatles, Pdogg says

They talk about Abbey Road too but I'm so 😭 I can't WAIT to hear what this album sounds like ahdghadoghadgh I'm so excited.

I think the colors of MUSE really match up with Sgt. Pepper aesthetic too. I need to dig more into this, so happy 😭

oh but I forgot that it's closing 😭 I really hope he got to see it, it's such a beautiful show oh my god, the absolute insane visuals and emotions it takes you through, to feel and experience music that way was such a high. That would be so perfect for Jimin, to tell his musical story through a visual and emotive show like that 😭 and parts of it are really his style too imho

Sheep-related antics ensue. Somehow, against all odds, Jules leaves his heart at the gateway to the Highlands.

Your eyes do not deceive you, friends. The link preview does say "Chapter 16", but I have not skipped a chapter. This is indeed Chapter 15 (the final chapter!) of Scottish AU, but the fic on AO3 has been rearranged to add a new chapter 1, which is a gorgeous cover image I commissioned from @prismatic-cannon in celebration of finally finishing my magnum opus. Here's some self-indulgent looking back on a list of things I didn't know when I started writing Scottish AU:

That between my career taking off and developing what was for a long time diagnosed as a chronic overuse injury (and turned out to be osteoarthritis with a side of mild tendonitis & tenosynovitis) it would take me more than 6 years to finish the first fic/arc of the longer story I'd planned out sob sob

That Scottish Romance is, in fact, a surprisingly large subgenre (I'm not generally a reader of published romance novels)

That JKR bankrolled the anti-independence campaign prior to the 2014 referendum (what a cunt, aye?)

Exactly how Brexit would play out and whether or not it would spur another indyref in short order

That a global pandemic would dash my plans to return to Scotland in 2020 (and every year of the new decade since) once I finally:

a) wasn't completely skint and would have cash to do all the touristy shit

b) was allowed to drink again and would be able to actually enjoy all the glorious whisky

Now to have a wee dram in celebration of my longest ongoing fic finally being completed! Thank you to everyone who read even a chapter of it or cheered me on or sent me stupid sheep fucking jokes. And thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the readers who have stuck around and actually read the whole mess from start to finish. I adore every single one of you!

If I one day get around to writing the other arcs I originally outlined for this fic, they will be new fics and I’ll put them into a series. But for now, this is where our tale ends <3
