Elain's cameral rolls | Sin & Salvation, ch. 23

Az opened Elain’s camera roll and felt the world stop around him.

A small, broken noise left him.

She had taken picture after picture of him, every time he had fallen asleep with her. There was a picture of him with his head on her lap, eyes closed. Pictures of him in bed, sleeping peacefully next to her. A selfie of them with his head on her shoulder, asleep, as Elain beamed into the camera. He kept scrolling and they kept coming.

He took deep breaths as he went back to her pictures, scrolling until before he had met her. Pictures of her smiling with Nuala and Cerridwen started appearing. Pictures of meals she had cooked and desserts she had baked. Pictures of flowers that caught her eye and the baby sprouts at work. Pictures of Nyx sleeping, playing, selfies of them cuddling. Pictures of matcha latte art.

Everything soft. Everything beautiful. Everything delicate. Everything luminous.

His eyes burned once more. She had cultivated something soft and beautiful and delicate and luminous within him. He felt it inside him, struggling to break free towards the sun. Just a little sprout, that would wither and die without nurture. He didn’t think he could nurture it without her.

Did I necessarily enjoy the wwdits finale super duper much? No I did not. Was it fitting and closing? Yeah it was.

We know their characters and how they act, there was never gonna be some big closing act because that just wouldn't have fitted the context. We're talking about those inmortal idiots who have long since becoming such fallen into their routin of whatever the fuck. There's no moving forward and no backtracking. They're basically a bunch of really old people stuck in their ways, watching the world change around them. Guillermo got sucked into that vacuum and got stuck too. For probably hundreds of years now they've had their unspoken agreement to never change anything. Guillermo will never be a vampire because that would mean change. Guillermo and Nandor won't stop pining for eachother and will never persue a relationship because that would mean change. It just wasn't meant to be and the writers have said this before. This show is not about big things. It's just about those guys being and I'm fine with that honestly.

Also very poeticly human in it's own twisted way.

the asl brothers are really:

because i think, in another universe, they would've ended sharing an apartment that both sabo and ace pay with their jobs (shitty jobs, they don't even like them much, but it's enough to pay rent and to take care of their brother) while luffy and sabo go to college (they told luffy to go even though he didn't really want to. they want him to have a solid future, somehow. besides, he has friends there too! sabo only studies politics to laugh at his teachers and go on rants about why college is a scam) and they would consider the domestic feeling of coming back home after a long day the best sensation ever. they would have their separate rooms but would end up sleeping on the same beds almost every night. neither of them would know how to cook very well but sabo knows how to handle a few easy things so they can at least live properly whenever sanji or koala aren't hanging out with them (they always end up making them food for a week at least). they would steal each other's clothes. sabo would have to do taxes with ace and trying to explain numbers to luffy would be a mess, but he has to learn somehow. they would have movie nights together and luffy's crew would come over a lot to hang out. law would too, to help luffy study, and sabo would be extremely overprotective of his brother with every person he meets. zoro's the one that comes over the most, but they're used to him already practically living in their place. ace would be the first to wake up (he has to go to work) despite struggling to do so, so sabo would actually be the first one (because he has to wake up ace and then go back to sleep until he has to go to class). luffy would hate to do chores, but he finds it more fun whenever he's with his brothers.

i like to think of a world where the three of them are happy and can be domestic together without the weight of the world on their shoulders. without having to carry that much and, even if they still do, at least they have forever to live together with it.

above all, strong girl nam soon is a very political show

korea has an extensive anti-drugs campaign. ever since the information that ryu shi-oh was involved with drugs was introduced, i knew there were only two options for him: death or surviving without a redemption. combine that to the prominent copaganda of the show, it becomes quite clear why they wouldn't go with the redemption route for him.

all the redeeming qualities of shi-oh as a person — his tragic backstory, even — don't change the fact that, as a character who's there to represent the 'big evil', there's no way for him to be redeemed in this narrative.

I think Sanji spends a long while after WCI without being able to cook anything related to sweets/chocolate because it brings him back to the worst moment of his life and it instantly sends him into panic and anxiety
