I really enjoyed Touchstarved's demo so I created an OC! I love Merope, she is sad tired. Elegant in appearance only, damp and confused most of the time. When she was little she was abducted by an eldritch snake cult. She has a few good memories of her childhood and hopes that she can find any reason to not unleash the entity inside of her.

waow 2024 is almost dead!!! gone too soon. feels like it’s been a big year for me art-wise for many reasons, BUT. i’m making 2025 bigger.... hopefully....i’ve made some art goals for next year which i won’t explain in detail but they boil down to 1) do more studies 2) tackle my weaknesses (backgrounds, dynamic poses/angles, uhhh lots of stuff i am a one trick pony right now) 3) get into drawing comics, all of which are in preparation for 4) take my story ideas more seriously and get started on one of the many graphic novels living in my head. i have one in mind i HAVE to complete in my lifetime or i will die, but firstly i’m gonna mess around with some little standalone svanhildr comics perhaps. goat fans rejoice. 

anyway i wasn’t meant to ramble so i’ll just say THANK YOU for the support as always!!! i’m very flattered all of these have more than 1000 notes.....crazy. thank you. muah

I love that In Stars and Time gives the nonconsensual kiss a proper horrified reaction, by the way. Most media where a character can kiss someone out of no where either make it a funny thing or the "romantic" thing, but here Siffrin kisses without permission out of no where and Isabeau reacts correctly! He pushed them away! Because thats surprising, and fucked up to do to someone with no lead up and no permission! Isabeau had no context, and at the time when the kiss happened, was under the impression that Siffrin didn't like touch which can have a variety of horrible reasons for it. Not only that but... We don't know what face Siffrin was pulling and I don't think it was a nice one. Which, again, means that we don't have all the context either! This is a horrible event that has horrible consequences and I love that it does. Because it's something that is horrible and objectively one of the worst things Siffrin did to one of the others in the loops, so I'm just!!! So excited it had bad consequences!!!

i am so charmed by a lumax wedding because it’s not even something max thought would happen. like she assumed weddings were something the girl makes happen and the guy puts up with. and because she had no desire for one, so there’s no reason it would happen.

among other things weddings are an exorbitant and performative show of love, max loves lucas and she doesn’t care whether or not other people know or believe this. at it’s best marriage to her has been a representation of failed dreams and at it’s worst it’s been a tool to manipulate people who need to get away to stay. maybe they will get married for the tax benefits, she thinks.

this is until max and lucas are older and living together, they’re chilling on the couch and lucas mentions his family has been asking when he’s planning to propose and if that’s something max even wants? max doesn’t care, she doesn’t plan on going anywhere, a certificate won’t change anything and she's not crazy about parties. she doesn’t ask how he feels, he brings it up, that “actually i want a wedding.”

that is saying the least, lucas wants a wedding more than anything. he loves max and he doesn’t need to prove that to anyone, but he’s happy and he wants to share that with others! he wants to work with max to make marriage a positive thing to them, he wants to celebrate their love, everything they’ve been through. also, hell, he’s only human, he wants to show off! he wants to dress really cool and go to a really cool place and show the world know how awesome he and his girlfriend are. HIS WIFE!!!

most of all, lucas wants the moment near the end of the night, where the party’s getting loud and everybody wants his attention, but max asks if he wants to get out of there and he says yes. not out out, just outside the venue. it’s dark and the once booming music is now faint, they sit and catch up, complain about their families, laugh about their friends. max holds lucas’s hand and plays with his wedding ring, she whispers something sweet before asking him to dance. it’s the best part of the night and nobody will know about it but them.

suddenly max decides she wants a wedding.

the relationship between the chantry and the mortalitasi in nevarra is SO fucking funny. the carefully politic and civil syncretism of it all. the ‘I’ll refrain from scratching your back to bloody shreds if you refrain from scratching mine :)’. left hand politely averting its eyes from whatever the fuck the right hand is doing merrily up to its elbow in entrails because it usually knows what it’s doing I guess. speak softly, and have an army of the restless dead ready to go banapants horrorshow bonkers if you don’t get to tend to them. We Receive: being able to keep doing our goth thing mostly unimpeded. You receive: us not raising the great majority to protest your unwelcome meddling. render unto the chantry what is the chantry's and unto the watchers what is theirs (or, with all possible courtesy you understand, else…)

We've had Maya for 3 episodes and I haven't hated her for a single one of them. In fact, my love of Maya just grows each episode. She's such a fascinating contrast to Kohei. Especially when it comes to being able to specifically hear Taichi's loud voice.

For Kohei, it's a comfort. Cause it's something he can hear. But for Maya, it's jarring. She can hear so little that it's outside the norm for her to be able to hear someone and Taichi is something different because she can hear him.

Maya has kind of hidden herself away inside the comfort of her hearing loss and Taichi simply speaking forces her out of that. Which is uncomfortable. And she is already forced into being uncomfortable by living in a hearing people's world. So it's jarring when the one constant she has to cling on to (even if it is literally the cause of her discomfort) is disrupted.

Maya is starting to be faced with the truth that Taichi is a good person. She might not like him, and she doesn't need to like him. But that's why she is telling Kohei that he is going to be abandoned once Taichi finds someone else. Because she fully believes that Taichi, while good, will leave because she believes being with her and Kohei is a struggle. But Taichi, above all else, is adaptable. Which is why he is able to see the flaws in his (new/future) boss's logic about accessibility for one group taking away from another group.

But Maya doesn't see these moments. Maya just knows that Kohei favors Taichi despite the messy notes, almost crashing into them, and what she perceives as Taichi taking advantage of Kohei by having Kohei bring him lunch. Maya never gets the see the intention behind the good things that Taichi does, she only ever sees the execution. So I can't fault her for wanting to look out for her friend. Even if her execution is flawed too.

And I think that's my point. All of them, not just Maya, are flawed. Taichi isn't perfect because he helped Kohei and brought him back into the world. Taichi is lovable and he's wonderful and he is doing his best. Taichi is genuinely a very, very good person. But he is flawed. His notes are messy. But he's trying. Kohei is trying. And Maya is trying too. But just because they all approach things differently, doesn't mean that one is a villain. And I cannot hate Maya for being different.

People rightfully talk about how devastating romantic solavellan is, but I think platonic solavellan can also be extremely devastating.

Like, my main Inquisitor was a Dalish rogue. She had no experience of magic, or the Fade, or anything like that before accidentally stumbling into the whole Corypheus ritual thing. Solas saved her life. He was by her side when she was confused and scared and trying to figure out what the hell had happened to her while all these humans were accusing her of a terrible crime she didn't commit. He helped her learn how to use the mark to seal the rifts; helped her understand what her new abilities were and that they were needed. When the humans began to call her the herald of a divine figure she didn't worship, Solas was the one person she could turn to when it all started to get a bit much (my Inquisitor was very much a Life of Brian-esque "I'm not the Herald of Andraste!" type). The conversation they have in the snow after everyone gathers together to sing "The Dawn Will Come" is such an important moment. Two elves, in the midst of a struggle fundamentally elven but that human beliefs had managed to co-opt.

Solas was her mentor. Her friend. Someone who opened her eyes to the vastness of the world; who complicated things she thought she understood. And she listened to him with an open mind and heart in turn. She was living proof that his unpleasant encounters with the Dalish were not universal. She had accepted her mortality, her lack of magic, because she knew no other way to be, and it probably broke his heart that he knew that HE was the one who had taken it from her. idk I'm just obsessed with all the dialogue that implies that the Inquisitor, through befriending Solas, changed a lot of his opinions about the modern world (modern elves especially), but that it wasn't enough to make him accept the world as it was in the end
