pairing: jeongin x gn!reader w. 1.5k genre: fluff, coffee shop au summary: part 2 of this fic, where you learn jeongin, a cute barista, has been giving you the employee discount at the coffee shop you frequent. after giving you his number, you decide to give it a chance. warnings: none a/n: this was super fun to write! there will be a part 3 (maybe not immediately), and it will be the final part of this story! thank you for all the support on this story :)

Ever since you walked out of the coffee shop with Jeongin's phone number on your cup, you've been smitten.

You thought that the little crush you'd had on the barista was a normal thing for a regular to have at their local shop. A cute worker was part of the fun of going. It turned out, understanding that he was at least the slightest bit interested turned you into a maniac.

After getting his number, you saved his contact in your phone and shot him a text a few hours later (and many attempts at psyching yourself up to do it) briefly saying hi and who you were. His response was almost instant.

jeongin: hey! was wondering when you'd say something

Even just one message had your heart stirring and jumping to conclusions. How long had you kept him waiting for? You forced a response out anyways.

y/n: worried i wouldn't say anything?

A pause. His texting bubble popped up once, went away, and back again.

jeongin: a bit. y/n: i'm here now!

Now that the first hurdle had been jumped through, things seemed to flow a little more naturally. His conversations over text felt as cordial as talking to him behind the counter, so you got the feeling he wasn't faking interest when you'd spoken in the past.

Originally you'd sat down to have a quick text chat with him before doing the rest of what you needed to on your lunch break. Unfortunately for you, Jeongin seemed a little too interesting and time slipped by quickly. Before you knew it, your allotted time to eat and relax was over.

y/n: bad news jeongin: what's up? y/n: lunch break's over. didn't even realize we'd been talking that long jeongin: oh gosh, i'm sorry for taking up your time! don't go hungry because of me y/n: pay me back in coffee tomorrow? jeongin: deal

After sending that text and clocking back into your shift, it dawned on you that what you said sounded a bit like a date invitation. Surely he knew that just meant you coming in normally, right? Not that you would be against a date. You considered writing a text to clarify but decided against it to get focused on work.

Throughout the rest of the day, you were plagued by thoughts of Jeongin. Normally you'd think of him once or twice and a smile would come to your face, but multiple times an hour was starting to get excessive. He was just a barista, wasn't he?

Your shift finally came to an end. As you were going home, your mind was still buzzing at the promise of seeing Jeongin tomorrow. It was almost hilarious how excited you were to see the guy you saw almost every day of the week. It wasn't even going to be that different than how you always saw him.

You got to eat your lunch when you finally settled in at your apartment. Maybe it was eating and thinking that got your mind away, but you found yourself opening your phone and searching up the name 'Jeongin' on social media. It wasn't a surprise there were quite a few people in the area with his name, but you searched anyways.

As you scrolled, one account caught your eye. The profile picture seemed like it could be him but the username confused you a bit. "i.2.n.8"? His display name was Jeongin, and when you opened the account it was almost immediately confirmed it was him. Username aside, you began to dig into his posts.

He was just gorgeous. There was no other way to put it. Every post was taken in a way that looked like he wasn't trying but somehow turned out perfect. The entire account seemed to have an unintentional aesthetic and you just couldn't stop scrolling and zooming in on photos.

Against your better judgment, you followed him. It wasn't five minute before he followed you back and you saw a text message pop up.

jeongin: stalker much? y/n: guilty

That night was fun. Your text exchange lasted almost another hour before you decided to go out. It pained you to say goodbye but you knew it was best not to burn out on conversation before you saw him next.

The next day rolled around and you were way too nervous about going out. You put on a work outfit that looked what you thought was your best and made sure to look as exceptional as you could.

The time came where you had to leave your apartment and face him. The trip over to the coffee shop was short as usual and a little too calm for how you felt inside. You approached the doors and peered inside, seeing Jeongin behind the bar hard at work.

Gaining your strength, you opened the door and walked in. Jeongin peered up from his coffee he was making and gave you a warm smile. You couldn't contain the feelings that felt like they were blooming in your chest. Either way, you continued on towards him.

"Good morning," Jeongin said in a sing-song voice as you approached, not looking up from his work.

You peered over the counter to see the cream design he was pouring into the cup, "Good morning, what are you making?"

"Ah, a little frog. I saw a video of someone making it and I wanted to give it a try," Jeongin snickered as he finished and showed you, "Looks a little lopsided, though."

It was true that the frog wasn't perfect, but it was perfectly cute. "It's wonderful. I love him."

"Well, if you like it, I like it," He said as he slid the coffee out and called out the name for the order. A man walked up and took the drink, smiling at the design. Jeongin turned his attention back to you. "What are we getting today?"

The two of you walked over to the register just as you had the morning before, "The same thing I get every day."

You began to grab your wallet from your pocket and Jeongin held out a hand, shaking his head. "My treat today. Pay you back in coffee, remember?"

A free drink was hard to say no to. You stuffed your wallet back in your pocket as he input your order into the system and punched in something that took the total down to zero. Jeongin really was sweet, wasn't he?

As he broke away from the cash register and walked back to the bar to start your drink, he looked up at you. "So, you went and found my socials yesterday?"

Your face flushed a bit. Even though it was true, you weren't expecting to be put on the spot for it. "Well, yeah. Couldn't help it."

Jeongin smiled deep. He was looking down at your drink, but his dimples gave him away. "Why's that?"

Again, not an easy question to answer honestly. "Your favorite barista gives you his number, why wouldn't you look him up?"

"Okay," Jeongin nodded, "Did I hold up to your expectations?"

After finding his page the day before you ended up looking at it an embarrassing amount of times. "I liked it, yeah. Did you like mine?"

"Yeah, it was so you," Jeongin looked up and you noticed a small flush on his cheeks, "That's a good thing, by the way."

You couldn't help but laugh. He was so charming and sweet, but he still had a bit of that boyish charm. "Thanks, I'd hope it was," You said, "How's it going over there?"

"Almost done, you keep me distracted," Jeongin grabbed a lid and popped it on your drink, holding it over the bar for you to grab from his hand, "There."

You reached over and took it from him, your fingers slightly touching and your heart pulled a few somersaults. God, this was a high school crush all over again. "It looks perfect, as always."

"My pleasure," Jeongin wiped down the bar with a cloth. You saw him stop for a moment, his eyes trained on something and his breathing was a little hard. He looked up and met your eyes, "Would you want to go out sometime?"

Oh. Oh shit. Maybe his flirting was a bit overt, but the question still caught you off guard. You stood there shell shocked for a few seconds as your brain relentlessly tried to reboot and catch up. Realizing you needed to respond, you nodded a little too hard. "Yes, yeah, I'd love that."

Before you could cringe at your own words, you saw the brightest smile on Jeongin's face. You'd never seen him smile so hard, but it certifiably made your heart melt. He nodded and seemed to compose himself. "You probably have to go to work, text me later about the details?"

You checked the time, muttering a small oh shit under your breath. A bit behind schedule, but you'd get away with it. No part of you wanted to leave him now that you agreed to a date, but duty calls. "Yeah, you're right. I definitely will!" You said as you began to walk towards the door.

"See you later!" He called out from the bar as you opened the door and walked out. Oh, shit. It was happening!

This is my personal AU, I don't think anyone has written on little Ghostie before I did. Not to say that there aren't any works on Dad!Ghost and his kids however Ghostie is a character of mine who holds such a special place in my heart, especially after I started writing more about her and how she acts around everyone.

Possible ships: Farah x Alex (Faralex)?? Alejandro x Rudy (Alerudy)?? Price x Nikolai (Nikprice)??

I know Halloween season is over but y'all can't do anything about this, it's been cooking in my brain for a while now. (Some of these are just regular scenarios though) Ghostie is back y'all!!!

❥ Ghostie who simultaneously made her way into convincing the Taskforce to go with her trick or treating, having her little army uniform that was commissioned for her, a bit visible underneath her pink puffy jacket. Yeah I don't think she's going to stop wearing it unless she's outgrown it, in which case, that would just break her big heart :((

❥ Simon holding little Ghostie's hand while she toddles, she would NOT go anywhere without either her dad's, her mum's or her uncle Gaz's hand. Having her tiny chubby fingers gripping onto two of her dad's fingers as he guides her up big steps. Catching her when she accidentally slips on the slippery steps.

❥ The rest of the Taskforce being behind her like a bunch of guard dogs, ain't nobody is gonna try and scare her because of the big burly men next to her. Photo was provided by my favorite artist last Halloween, @puff0o0:

❥ Ghostie having the sweetest voice ever, she so polite, so much so that she makes the her dad and uncles chuckle at her. (This is how I imagined her voice to sound like)

"Say trick or treat.." Gaz whispers, coaching her from behind as someone from the house opens the door. Two women in costumes, holding a big candy bowl.

"trwick or trweat.." Little Ghostie mumbles, far too shy and almost hiding behind her uncle.

"What a cute costume you have there, here, take these ones" one of the women said, adding the candy to Ghostie's little basket.

"Thank you!" Ghostie exclaims, making the two girls awe at her politeness and eagerness.

❥ Yeah Ghostie definitely pronounces Halloween as "Ha-Hoween".

❥ I can't help but think that they came across that one house with a sign that said "leave your single dad's number if he's attractive" and as a joke, uncle Gaz threw in a piece of paper with peepaw Price's number on it, only to have peepaw Nikolai fish it out of the candy bowl when he thought no one could see him.. but Ghostie did.

Not Halloween related:

❥ Safe to say that when uncle Gaz doesn't like someone, neither does Ghostie, if you all can recall that cutscene from mw3, Gaz did NOT even bother to acknowledge Philip's existence. That being said, Ghostie gives the nastiest side-eyes to him the moment he even opens his mouth. (Yeah she got from her dad)

❥ Ghostie absolutely loves getting head pats and giving them, to her, it's one of the best forms of praise. Anyone gives her head pats gets to witness her absolutely adorable reaction, the way her eyes light up, those little lips curling into a smile causing her chubby cheeks to be prominent and her eyes squinting. Mostly loves doing it to uncle Soap, because the mohawk is fluffy.

❥ Maybe at some point, when Philip decides to behave then he can earn the head pats from Ghostie.

❥ Meals with the Taskforce and Ghostie are a certified hit, she has quite the appetite and she shows it. Simon takes it upon himself to always does what his wife does at home when he's out with Ghostie, bringing her silicone bib and baby utensils. (Even the bulky ass highchair attachment that he keeps in that back of his car/truck)

"More please..." Ghostie says, making grabby hands, in the middle of chewing after observing that her plate is yet again empty.

Price chuckles, looking at Simon who was now careful about the amount of food to add on Ghostie's plate because the toddler is on her third round of food.

❥ Ghostie enjoys clapping her hands and anything as well, especially after eating and being satisfied.

❥ Ghostie is into tea, her dad got her hooked on it.

"Aye, what about you Ghostie? What'd you like?" Soap asks the little one who's currently keeping herself busy with her custom coloring book.

"Tea!" She says, looking up for a bit to Soap before focusing back on her coloring.

"You heard her Johnny, make that two.." Simon says with a pretty firm pat on the back for Soap.

"Fuckin' Brits..."

❥ Auntie Farah and uncle Alex are the babysitters when uncle Gaz, uncle Soap and peepaw Price ain't around. Farah loves that kid to death, if she was being honest, she saw a lot of resemblance between Simon and Ghostie. Of course there are looks were, she's basically a carbon copy of him but also mannerisms;

❥ Ghostie who copies her dad, being adamant about being cleanly and tidy, oftentimes catching people surprised that she tidies up after herself immediately after playing before moving onto another set of toys, coloring books and coloring materials. She notices and mirrors how Simon is consistent in keeping things tidy and out the way.

❥ Whenever Ghostie is at home with her momma (you) and Simon had to run errands, she always wakes up first, seeing how her dad gets up early too.

Ghostie rises up with a soft yawn, rubbing her tiny eyes with her hands, she looked around at the still dimly lit room. She turned her head from side to side looking for her dad.

She was met by him standing and dressing himself up in a black hoodie to go out and buy something. She gives him that cheek to cheek smile before leaning her cheek and closing her eyes, mandatory kiss from dad before he left.

"Alright pumpkin, dada's leaving now. I'll be back later, be good and don't give momma a hard time.." Simon reminded her after giving her cheek a kiss.

"Okay dada- promise.." Ghostie yawns mid sentence.

❥ Ghostie who, ever since she way younger, loved to cup her dad's face and nuzzle her nose into his. A tradition that Simon doesn't know if he's ready to see it go when she grows up. Neither is he ready for her to start correcting the words she's been pronouncing wrong;

❥ Dad!Simon whose heart broke once he realizes that the "I love you"s will slowly start to be less and less when she becomes a teen, he's silently wishing to himself that it won't be reduced to not being said at all. You had to reassure him that it won't happen, not when Ghostie's the sweetest little girl anyone could ask for and Simon is the best dad anyone could as for.

❥ Uncle Alejandro and uncle Rudy being the seasoned uncles who happened to be absolutely adored by Ghostie, not as much as uncle Gaz but let's be real here, no one is on uncle Gaz's level.

❥ Uncle Alejandro and uncle Soap having bets and arguments on who gets to reach their language to Ghostie while she just sits there on uncle Rudy's lap, sipping on her apple juice, quite entertained.

❥ YOU CANNOT TELL ME THAT RUDY ISN'T RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING HER TO SLEEP OR NAP, that man is a walking heater. I can just see him standing there while holding her in his arms while she's trying her hardest not to fall asleep, yawning "Uncle Rudy.." before immediately snoring, snuggling her face into his soft blue hoodie shirt. (@icarustypicalfall is living for this, I just know it)

❥ Alejandro who gets smacked in the back of the head by (his husband) Rudy for being too loud and almost waking Ghostie up. (Alerudy when? This is a joke to y'all Alerudy haters, I like the ship, it's cute. Not sure if it's canon here in my AU, up to you guys to decide)

❥ Laswell and her wife absolutely fucking adore Ghostie, shit she makes them want to have kids, she has almost the same effect on almost everyone. Silently making her uncle Gaz wish that he isn't single.

❥ Let's be real here, peepaw Nikolai was the one who Ghostie jammed with while listening to heavy metal. He also got her this mini leather jacket that matched his, with her nationality country/countries flag/s embroidered patch on the side. I can just imagine her little head bangs that peepaw nik taught her 🥺😭.

❥ Also Ghostie has access to almost everyone's prized stuff, uncle Gaz's and peepaw Price's hats, uncle Soap's medals and even peepaw Nik's jacket which looks like she's swimming in it when she's wearing it.

❥ This pic is so Dad!Simon and Ghostie coded:

❥ Something tells me that Simon would send you this pic and you'd probably have a heart attack, your husband isn't the best driver after all but you trust him since he won't put your daughter in imminent danger.

❥ I think most of the time, Ghostie is in her uncle Gaz's arms and/or lap while he sits on the passenger seat, doesn't really matter who's driving.

Sidenote: Is it normal to be so excited over something you bought? I literally bought my first ever concealer today, a mascara that I've been looking for and lip oil. Celebrating Walker event

Though the end of Walker isn't exactly something we're looking forward to, I do think there is something to celebrate. Walker was a fantastic show that got four seasons and a spin-off in a very constricting entertainment climate. It brought the fandom a lot of joy and gave us a great story with a lot of new characters to fall in love with. As much as I mourn the loss of one of the best shows on the CW, I'm happy to have been here for it.

So, in honor of the greatness that came before, I'm proposing a "Celebrating Walker" event! Four weeks gushing about our favorite aspects of this show. Each week will have an overarching theme such as "Favorite Character" and each day will have a specific sub-category such as "Favorite Antagonist".

Anyone can participate in this celebration event and there's no limit to what can be submitted for the celebration. Gifsets, fanfic, meta, fanvids, photo edits, anything goes! ARTIST OF THE WEEK @midearthlingart ✨

This week's AOTW is Laz aka midearthling, and any AOTW event intending to bring classic ofmd art back into circulation would be incomplete without them <3 She agreed to answer a few questions for me and shared some great tips for beginners:

- Which do you use to draw (app/digital or traditional)?

I think everything posted here is digital, done mainly on Procreate, although I have started using Art Studio Pro more recently and I really like it (also an iPad app but available on other machines afaik!). I do like to doodle and do studies in my sketchbook though, I think it's good to keep me sharp and for a change of pace! And sometimes ideas come easier that way. But any completed pieces tend to be digital.

- Fave brushes/pencils/mediums (links/screenshots?)

On procreate I'm partial to using jingsketch basic’s flat brush, it’s so versatile for sketching and painting! Other brushes in my regular rotation are the default chalk and 6b brushes from procreate. I also have a soft ‘photoshop’ brush that I use to flat in colours, and a round brush I downloaded that I often use for sketching too; unfortunately I can’t remember where I got either of those ones but I’m pretty sure they were free! Sometimes I use random texture brushes, and the default watercolours in procreate.

- Your favourite piece you've drawn?

I go through phases of really loving some pieces and then hating them again (I often dislike my own art!) One of the best things I ever drew is a very nsfw comic so I unfortunately can’t share it on tumblr lmao. But in its stead, I think this and this have a special place in my heart.

- Who's harder to draw: Ed or Stede?

Honestly it just depends on the day! Both can be difficult to capture for different reasons; oddly I think for me I don’t have Ed’s face pinned down as much as I do with Stede’s. I’ve drawn them so much at this point I can bang them out without reference most of the time, but every now and again I’ll have a difficult angle and need to reference again! Stede’s nose is my absolute favourite to draw though.

Keep going! References and 3D models are your friend! It’s okay to make studies of other people’s works in order to learn (just don’t share and try to pass it off as your own!) Tracing photos to learn is also fine too, these are all just tools to help you hone your skill.

It did something to my brain! I remember watching it back in March 2022 when there were only 6 episodes out at the time, I binged in one go and then the very next day watched all of them again. As you walked into the JYP practice room, the sound of laughter and music filled your ears. You spotted Minho and ran over to give your cousin a big hug.

"Uh, hi, I'm here too," Bangchan chimed in, standing up from his seat.

"Hi Chan!" you exclaimed, giving him a hug as well. "What are you guys up to?"

"Just planning a special stage for our comeback," Bangchan replied, grabbing a bottle of water from the table. "Congratulations on your comeback by the way! Did you receive our bouquet?"

"Of course I did," you beamed, unlocking your phone to show them a photo of the beautiful flowers. "I posted it on my social media too!"

After catching up with your cousin for a few minutes, the three of you headed to the cafeteria to grab some food. It was a regular occurrence for you to visit JYP since you and Minho met up almost every week.

"So Y/N," Minho began, clearing his throat as you all sat down with your food. "Are you seeing anyone?"

"Do I have to answer that?" you laughed, glancing down at your plate.

"So you are seeing someone?" Bangchan teased, wiggling his eyebrows playfully. "Who's the lucky guy?"

You were just as close to Bangchan as you were with Minho, so it wasn't embarrassing to share details like that. However, when you didn't answer, both boys furrowed their brows in concern.

"L/N Y/N, please don't tell me you're still hung up on Choi Yeonjun?" Minho growled. Your eyes welled up at the harshness in his tone.

"Y/N," Bangchan sighed sympathetically, "I know he's a great guy, but you shouldn't waste any more energy on someone who can't reciprocate your feelings..."

"Easier said than done," you murmured. "You both know how much he means to me."

Aside from the other members of TXT, only Minho and Bangchan were aware of your arrangement with Yeonjun. Although they were friends with the group, they couldn't stand seeing you being taken advantage of in such a toxic relationship.

"He may have been your first love, but he doesn't have to be your last," Minho said, taking hold of your hand across the table. His heart ached for you; you were one of the kindest and most selfless people he knew, and it pained him to see you hurting like this. "It's not the end of the world if things don't work out with him."

"Why don't you try going on dates with other people?" Bangchan suggested with a small smile.

"Wouldn't that be unfair to the other person if I wasn't emotionally available?" you questioned.

"That's exactly what Yeonjun is doing to you," Minho pointed out, rolling his eyes.

"Yeah, but..."

"Listen, Y/N, why don't you just go out for coffee? Not as a date, but just as friends hanging out over coffee?" Bangchan proposed. You thought about it for a moment; it didn't sound like a bad idea.

"I guess that could work," you nervously chuckled. "Okay, I'll try asking someone to go get coffee with me."

"Don't worry, we already have someone in mind," Minho mischievously grinned.

"Y/N!!! Welcome~" Huening Kai sang as you entered the VIP room of the restaurant.

"Kai," you chirped, hugging him, careful with the wine in your arms. "Congratulations on your first Inkigayo win!"

"Is this for us?" Soobin grinned, pointing at the bottle.

"Of course," you giggled, passing it to the taller boy. Your eyes landed on Yeonjun who was chatting away with Taehyun. When he meets your gaze, he winks at you, and your heart skips a little beat.

Earlier in the day, Kai invited you to join a small celebration dinner organized by Bang PD for TXT's first Inkigayo win. As you entered the room, you noticed familiar faces from Seventeen and other HYBE employees gathered together.

"Oh? Is it just us?" you asked, noticing that the seats were nearly full as you took a seat next to Beomgyu, giving him a side hug. It was your indirect way of asking if Yunjin would show up today.

"Yeah, just a small dinner celebration," Beomgyu responded. You hear the chair scraping and you turned to the other side to see Yeonjun sitting on the seat on your other side. He throws an arm over your shoulder.

A warm breath tickled your ear as Yeonjun's voice whispered, "Hey, miss me?"

Your cheeks flushed with heat as you nodded in response. You knew Yunjin wouldn't be showing up tonight by how distant and annoyed Yeonjun acted towards you when she was going to be around. But when she wasn't, he couldn't get enough of you, despite his previous warnings about "hurting yourself". You loved the attention and so did he, constantly seeking each other out like magnets drawn together.

You were sharing a 6 person table with boys, and you watched gleefully as Taehyun began cutting the meat on the grill.

"Are you coming over after dinner?" Kai asked excitedly. Besides Yeonjun, you spent a lot of time with Kai because of your similar interests in food and movies, so oftentimes you'd go to their dorms to hang out, and of course, end up in bed with the eldest member.

"Obviously," Yeonjun snickered from beside you.

"I can't," you scratched the back of your neck.

Five pairs of eyes look at you in shock. You've never said no to staying over before, not even when you had a schedule to get to at 4 am in the morning.

"Damn," Soobin whispered. "Are we in an alternate universe or did a clone come and replace Y/N?"

"Got plans later, Y/N?" Beomgyu asked, nudging your side.

"Yeah, actually," you nervously replied. "I'm meeting a friend later."

"But it's like 9 pm now," Huening Kai pointed out.

"Well yeah, we're just getting coffee," you explained.

Beomgyu's eyes widened. "Are you going on a date?!"

Yeonjun nearly choked on meat at Beomgyu's words. You? Going on a date at night?

"That doesn't sound too safe, Y/N," Yeonjun frowned. Beomgyu rolled his eyes at Yeonjun's remark. Though he knew about you both, he didn't like the arrangement. You were friends with all the members, and although Yeonjun was like their brother, they didn't like how toxic your relationship with Yeonjun was.

"I'll be fine," you waved it off, popping another piece of meat in your mouth. "Besides, it's not a date, we're just meeting for coffee."

You kept telling everyone that it wasn't a date, but you made it a point that if Yeonjun asked you to not go tonight, you would cancel your plans.

"Well, who are you meeting?" Yeonjun demanded to know.

"Hwiyoung from SF9."

"Yeonjun, calm your ass down," Beomgyu groaned, annoyed as Yeonjun continued to pace back and forth the living room where the other boys sat playing games.

"It's almost midnight and Y/N hasn't responded to my text," Yeonjun angrily muttered, glancing at his phone for the 6th time that evening.

"She's a grown woman, I'm sure she's fine," Soobin said, his eyes glued to the screen in front of him.

"Don't you barely text her back anyway?" Taehyun asked.

"He's just angsty because Y/N finally decided to see someone else," Beomgyu snickered. "Don't expect her to text you back till tomorrow morning."

Yeonjun glared at the younger boy, annoyed. He wasn't angsty, he was just worried.

"Hwiyoung though? They'd look good together," Huening Kai commented and the other boys nodded in agreement.

"She said they were just meeting up for coffee," Yeonjun reminded them, trying to keep his cool.

"Please, when you tell us you're getting coffee with Y/N, aren't you two at her place hooking up?" Soobin raised an eyebrow. "Is this any different?"

That remark shut Yeonjun up and a sense of dread filled him.

By the time it hit 12:30 AM without a word from you, he decided to call, even after the others warned him not to.

"Yeonjun?" your voice said over the phone. Yeonjun let out a sigh of relief when he heard noise in the background, indicating that you were still out in public and not somewhere alone.

"Hey, Y/N, just calling to make sure you're home," he said, playing dumb. He definitely didn't think this through.

On the other line, you freeze up for a moment. Did Yeonjun just call to check up on you?

"Umm, I'm still out," you answered after a brief pause, peeking over to Hwiyoung who sat across from you.

"It's passed midnight, will you be done soon?" Yeonjun asked, his fingers crossed. Now that he thought about it, he doesn't remember the last time he called first.

"Yeah, soon?" you answered, unsure. You glanced at the watch on your wrist, you were having a great time with Hwiyoung you didn't realize it was already this late.

"Will you come over then? You could stay the night."

A thousand thoughts ran through your mind. You looked up to see Hwiyoung giving you a small encouraging smile.

"Alright, I'll be there soon," you say before ending the call. You give Hwiyoung a sad smile. "Sorry."

"Don't worry about it, Y/N. I should be glad you even agreed to meet up with me," he chuckled, his contagious smile causing the corner of your lips to raise along with his. "You don't know how long I've asked Minho."

"He never told me," you shyly answered, a blush forming on your face. You felt like you were in high school all over again.

You spent the night getting to know Hwiyoung and eventually managed to open up about your feelings for Yeonjun, not wanting to lead him on. You were surprised at Hwiyoung's understanding of the situation and even encouraged you to take your time to sort things out. And though your mind was still in turmoil, for that brief moment, you felt at ease with Hwiyoung by your side.

"Will I get to see you again?" Hwiyoung asked just as you were about to part ways.

"Of course," you nodded. He moves closer to give you a hug which you gladly reciprocate, and you can't help but feel the difference between hugging Yeonjun and hugging Hwiyoung.

"See you soon, Y/N."

As the night grew darker, you found yourself in bed with Yeonjun. A mix of emotions swirled within you - guilt for betraying Hwiyoung's feelings, excitement from being in Yeonjun's arms, and a nagging sense of doubt.

Hwiyoung had been kind and understanding towards you all night, and you knew he liked you just as much as you liked Yeonjun. With each passing moment, the weight of your actions weighed heavier on your conscience. How could you have given into temptation when you knew it would hurt someone else? As you lay there with Yeonjun, you couldn't help but wonder if he ever felt guilty about sleeping with you while chasing after someone else. Did he truly care for you or were you just another conquest to him?

The doubts and questions kept swirling in your mind, clouding the moment and tainting the intimacy that should have been shared between the two of you.

Benny was surprised to see you walk into Pope's one night an hour before closing since you always trained in the mornings. You had given him a short head nod instead of your usual big smile before stalking to a platform and slamming your bag down. 

"Yooooo, everything ok?" he asks as he walks over. 

"Does it look like I'm okay," you huff, aggressively wrestling your knee sleeves on. Glancing at him, you immediately apologize when he hesitates and takes a step back.

"Sorry, Benny. I'll be a lot better after I pick up some heavy things and put them down."

"Might help if you want to talk about it?" he ventures leaning against the barbell.

You finish tying your squat shoes before looking at him again with dejected eyes and sighing. 

"I just went on a crappy date with a guy from one of those dating apps," you sigh again. "He spent the whole time talking about himself and how much he works out. Then he had the fucking audacity to question me when he asked how much I could lift."

"Fucking asshole!" Benny feels himself getting steamed. 

"He just stormed out of the restaurant and left me with the bill when I refused to change my answer," you shrug, but Benny sees your jaw tick. "Apparently, I squat and deadlift more than he does and he couldn't date someone who could do that." You roll your eyes and huff.

"WTF! What a total loser. You don't need a guy like that who doesn't appreciate you," Benny replies incensed. He sees your face fall for a moment, eyes downcast and tight.

"I just — I've been trying to put myself out there again and it sucks," you mumble, cheeks flush with embarrassment. "It's also been kinda lonely since I moved here, and I guess I could just use more friends, too."

"I'M YOUR FRIEND!" 

"Yeah, my gym friend! We don't do anything outside of this hot, sweaty box Benny," you remind him with a small smile and playful shove to get him off your barbell. 

Benny decides this is completely unacceptable and immediately remedies this by inviting you to the next hangout with him and his ex-Delta Force friends at Redfly's, a local bar nearby. "You know Pope and Will already," he reassures, "Tom's the owner of the bar and he's an asshole, but he's our asshole. And there's Catfish — we call him Fish for short. We've been trying to get him to come work out here, but he's been busy with his new pilot job for the hospital. And he shares custody of his 3-year-old daughter with his ex."

He could see your brain turning over all the information he was throwing at you. You don't seem to react either way to the news that Fish has an ex and a daughter. As you adjust the bar height you respond, "You sure? Don't want to crash a regular thing that you have with your guys."

"Nah, it'll be great! They'll love you!" Benny's determined to get you to come. 

You hand him your phone. "Well... okay. Text me the details?"

With your phone in hand, Benny puts his number in to text himself and then convinces you to show him your dating profile. Between sets of squats you both take turns swiping on possible matches, Benny teasing you on your picks. Ever observant, Benny notices your preference for profiles with tall, brown-haired, brown-eyed photos. As you work through your next set, Benny sneaks his phone out and immediately texts Fish.

I was so tired last night but I was so genuine about posting my sillys so here's some old art and a progress photo of a redraw I'm doing!!

These two are like, the first time I made a full drawing of Moon.. I made it sometime late June last year I wanna say? Either way they way I draw them has changed alot and I'm still trying to figure out how I want to draw them as I'm getting back into this phase

This art is older than the last ones! I find this design super cute, but as you'll see I frequently changed how I drew Sunnys rays.. These were all mid January!

This was a ref I made because I wanted to have my own design of Sunny with some of my personal favorite traits I saw others give him... Moon was supposed to get one too, but I never got around to it.. This one was in July last year!

And now for funsies some Reader x Sun and Moon concept art for a fic I wanted to write.. I actually got decently far into it last year before never finishing! But I've decided to start up production on it again by rewriting it and finishing it hopefully! I remember posting about it on Twitter last year funnily enough.. It's supposed to be a fun mythical creature AU of sorts where there's all sorts of silly species running around along side regular humans. Maybe I'll post about it more later if I feel like it..

Hello everyone welcome BACK to: I talk about Benrey for a minute here!

Today we will talk about everyone's favorite: Mischaracterization in Fanfiction!

[I want to preface this with a very important note. Anything I bring up here is NOT something I'm complaining about. I LOVE mischaracterizing my little guy sometimes, especially by making him more like me, heart emoji. I just also know what's wrong so I mischaracterize him in a better and more accurate way /ref]

Now, the most common little thing is him showing basically any emotion in a human/allistic way. Laughter is pretty much the only exception, followed only by whining. He would NOT apologize and he would NOT break down sobbing. In fact I don't believe he has tear ducts he forgor to make them.

[as user needsmoreexplosions has said in the replies, this is hyperbolic! he does show plenty of emotions, just more muted than you'd expect. The first act has more bursts of emotion than the later acts as well. They brought up the "dont FUCKING talk to me" and I mentioned him yelling to Tommy happily. However, there's still not MANY examples. I'm going to rb this with every example of strong emotion he conveys and itll probably be shorter than this post. again. i love people making him emotional anyways, even if its not quite in character]

If he were to learn that Regular People Can't Respawn, he wouldn't go crying and apologizing to Gordon. He would go "oops." He would complain that no one told him. He would make fun of Gordon for not being able to respawn.

SPEAKING OF WHICH. The arm thing. A LOT of people tend to go with "he was trying to get the trackers out/hev suit off," when Dr. Coomer literally says, "I think they're just spiteful." He was getting back at Gordon for all the times he like. Shot him or somethin idk. People are right that he didn't expect the soldiers to cut off his arm, but he also DID expect them (and hype them up) to kill him. Not so he'd respawn without the hev suit or with his passport, just because "hey everyone else has died. And you are so mean to me. Your turn."

He doesn't act like a cat or crave attention, I'm so sorry fic writers [again, it's so fun and I love it tho, so keep doing it please] In fact, he loves to fuck off and leave the team, he does not need their attention. And, when given attention, he tends to just be mildly confused or antagonistic.

And he's not obsessed with the passports, guys! Let me get my fuckin 26-page document up rq... He says Passport/ID 26 times in Act 1 [yo what the fuck what a cool coincidence..... That's actually fucking awesome], then literally once in Act 2 and it wasn't even directed at Gordon. He doesn't say it at all in Act 3, though he does say One (1) time how much he loves his. He says it 6 times in Act 4, ALL of which are during his Boss Fight.

People make him a gamer. Yes, he is 100% but they make him the wrong KIND of gamer. He's not a Minecraft Animal Crossing Mario Kart gamer, he talks about Heavenly Sword, God of War, Halo, MAG, Grand Theft Auto and TF2. 2 First Person Shooters, 3 very violent action/adventure games, and TF2.

The only TV he references is All Dogs Go To Heaven 2 and Fighting Redemption which are WILDLY different. And also whatever Ms. Pebbles is.

Not necessarily a common mischaracterization, but an important tidbit is that Benrey tends to be pacifistic towards Xen creatures, and not towards scientists and later security guards. Lots of people headcanon Experimentation which, while there's not really any evidence for that, there's also no evidence against it and it's a good headcanon that I like a lot.

He likes taking pictures. (shakes fic writers) give him a photo album!!!! SCANS OF GORDON'S FEET WOULD NOT BE IN THE ALBUM HE DOESN'T ACTUALLY HAVE THOSE. IT WAS NOT A FOOTSCANNER HD HE LIED.

The things he does know vs doesn't know are. Difficult. He isn't clueless about "human Things" he understands that shaking = nervous and balled fists = angry. He doesn't know what pigeons are but he does know mayonnaise and Big Mac with Freesh Fries.

The final important bit of info. Canon is kinda... flimsy? Canonically, according to Gir, Bubby is a straight guy who FUCKS. Canonically, according to Holly, Bubby is agender and married to Dr. Coomer.

So like. Go fucking crazy! Go stupid! A a a a a!

hi recurring-polynya: in a recent post of yours that had to do with orihime inoue's choconomiyaki, you incorporated a gif of orihime's finished creation.

i really would like to know how you create gifs from bleach's episodes.

Here is my process for making gifs:

You will need the thing you want to make your gif out of as a video file (generally mp4) saved locally.

Trim the video down to just the part you want

Convert it to a gif

There are many ways to do these steps, but I've detailed the way *I* do it in excruciating detail under the cut, along with some tips.

Get the video file Ha ha ha, obviously you want to only do this with videos that you have the rights to use and definitely not anything you might find from some link on r/Piracy! I'm going to demonstrate using a free-to-use video I downloaded from Pexels, a great source for free stock footage, specifically this video of some koi swimming.

Trimming the video

Windows comes with two different utilities that work great for this. I'm sure MacOS and Linux have their own versions, I'm just not that familiar with them.

Option 1: Photos Yes, Photos. It actually used to be even better for video editing, but Microsoft has been nerfing it, which is a shame. This will not likely be your default video-viewing program, so right click and then hit "Open With" and then "Photos."

The "Trim" button is the leftmost button on the toolbar along the top of the app (or you can hit ctrl-E).

This will take you into a different screen where you can adjust the sliders to set the start and stop of your video to what you want your gif to be. Then hit that turquoise "Save as copy" button on the upper right. If you hit the down arrow, you can do "Save" instead, but that will overwrite your original file, which you most likely do not want.

Once you've saved it, Photos will automatically open up your new, cropped file. Now, if your video is long (like an episode of a tv show or movie), it may be hard to get good granularity on your start and stop. You can do a rough trim first, and then repeat the process on your new, shorter file. If you're having trouble getting down to the exact frames you want, don't sweat it, you can take care of that in step 3. Alternatively, you can use ClipChamp instead, which I will describe in just a moment.

Before we go, though, I want to point out that Photos has another really cool feature that you would think most video editing programs would have, but many don't, and that is "Save a frame."

(You need to be back in the regular movie viewer screen, so back out of the Trim window if you're still there)

Pause the video at the frame you want. Hit the "..." button on the bottom toolbar, and the option will be there. (If you're not paused, it will be grayed out).

Trimming Option 2: Clipchamp

Clipchamp is a more powerful video editing tool that also comes with Windows. For some dumb reason, you have to be signed into your Microsoft account to use it, and it takes a long time to open especially if your file is big, so if I'm trying to do something real quick, I'll just do it in Photos. On the other hand, if I'm trying to get multiple gifs out of a single video, or I'm trying to do something fancy, it's usually the better tool.

You can right click on your file and choose "Edit with Clipchamp". If you've already got the file open in Photos, you can hit the little purple clapboard icon just the left of the "..." icon in the screenshot above, and that will also open the file in Clipchamp. There's a second icon along the top toolbar, too, because Windows just really really wants you to use Clipchamp.

Here's what our video looks like in Clipchamp:

You can drag that white bar around, or use the video controls to play the video or jump forward or back, and then choose the little scissors icon to "cut" it. Then select the part you don't want (in this case, I am setting the start of my gif, so I am going to delete everything to the left), and select the little garbage can icon (or the delete key) to delete it. It will leave a gray space-if you hover over it, a little trash can icon will appear, and you can click it to delete the gap.

Again, if you're cutting a gif out of a big file, you probably want to do a rough cut first to give you a smaller chunk of video to work with. Then do a finer trim to get it down to just the frames you want. It can be hard to click on tiny, slivery gaps to delete them, so you can also right click in any of the gray area after the end of the video and select "Delete all visual gaps". Also, over on the right, there are little magnifying glass icons you can use to zoom in and out if you need.

Repeat the process to set the end of your video.

Next, go up and hit that purple button at the top right that says "Export." I always pick "Export in 1080p" even if my videos are not 1080p. (Note: If you haven't already deleted your gaps, it will ask you now if you want to delete them, so I guess you can just do it there if you prefer.)

You may notice that "GIF" was an export option. However, the gif it outputs will be small and grainy looking, so I don't recommend using it.

Exporting will take you to this screen where it tries to convince me to post this beautiful koi gif I am making to various social media, including LinkedIn. Clipchamp, thank you, I will not.

It will automatically save your export to your Downloads folder with an auto-generated filename. You can hit that little "Save to your computer" button (it's above and a little to the right of the bright blue "Connect to OneDrive" box") and save it where you want, with a meaningful name.

Clipchamp has loads of other features--you can use it cut together multiple videos, you can add captions, you can do stuff with the sound. This is not a tutorial on Clipchamp, but I've been able to figure out a lot just messing around with it.

Converting to a gif

For this second part, I use a fantastic website called Ezgif. There's a ton of stuff here, but we are specifically going to use their Video-to-Gif utility.

Hit that "Browse" button and select your file.

Then hit the blue "Upload video!" button. If your file is big, it may take a few minutes to upload. Once it has, it will give you a preview, and some options. I usually leave the options as they are, and hit that blue "Convert to Gif!" button at the bottom.

Note: You could, in theory, skip step 1 and do your trimming right in Ezgif. However, it does have filesize limits. Also, it would take a long time (and bandwidth) to upload a big file--it just makes more sense to me to trim it locally first.

Again, depending on how long your gif is, it may take a few seconds, but then it will give you a preview of your gif (it will be animated, but this is just a screenshot)

If you're happy with it, you can simply right click and save the gif as is.

Optional, but possibly very helpful:

Right below the preview, it will always recommend you optimize the gif, and I almost always do. Even just picking "Lossy Gif" and setting the compression to 30 will usually reduce the file size by 20-40%. If I have a long or slow gif, I will sometimes also play around with the "remove every Nth frame" option. This is kind of arbitrary, but I aim for less than 3MiB if I'm planning to post it to Tumblr.

It might be hard to see, but I've got some little black letterboxes on the left and right sides of my gif. You can use the "Crop" option to get rid of those.

I often adjust the speed of my gif, especially if removing some frames made it too fast.

If you select the "Frames" option, opens a page that shows every frame of the gif and how long it plays. Back when you were trimming the video, if you ended up with some extra frames, you can turn those off there. Also, sometimes, my gifs end too abruptly, like if the scene cut to something else I don't want in my gif. In this case, you can set the delay on the last frame to be longer, and it may end up looking smoother.

Anyway, Ezgif is easy to explore and figure out on your own and doesn't add any watermarks to your final product. It is one of my very favorite sites on the internet.

I've tried to sound more professional with posts like this, but clearly it's not what everyone else does and also doesn't seem to work. So.

If you don't know me, I'm Dooz. I'm queer, autistic, physically disabled, everything Tumblr loves in a bitch. Here's a picture I found on my old SD card to show that I am indeed a real person:

Because of most of those aforementioned things, regular work isn't an option for me. What I can do, sometimes, is photography. For many years I've mainly taken photos of birds and other wildlife, but more recently I've started taking interest in abstract photography as well. For these, I have a few shops. Unfortunately, despite my diligence in promoting my work, I've seen little payoff.

I've been struggling for over a year now with a laptop that barely works, and it's severely limiting what I can do with my photos. One day it will just stop working and I won't have anywhere near enough money to replace it. For the same amount of time I've been dealing with it, I've also been trying to save up for a new one via sales from my shops and by pawning off anything I can. The sad part is that most of my savings come from the latter. I still need about $800 more before even considering browsing for one.

Hello, welcome!! It always makes me happy to see new people enjoying the show and falling in love with Tarlos! It's very easy to do--you're so right, they really do have something special!

Ronen in particular is usually a whole lot more active on socials. He goes a little quieter at times during the summer, but this summer he's quiet on a whole new level, and I'm assuming that can mostly be attributed to the strike. He's not able to talk about the show/Tarlos right now, so it's probably keeping him off social media a bit. Aside from that, he's probably busy traveling, working on music, relaxing, etc. Once they finally do get back to filming (or even well before then), I'm confident he will be back to posting regularly.

Rafa used to be more active on socials, but in the last couple years, he posts a lot less. However, he drops in from time to time to destroy us with gorgeous vacation photos, workout selfies, etc. And he usually posts about events he attends, though often after the fact rather than in real time.

During filming, Rafa doesn't usually post too much about the show/filming, though he will occasionally do a post or two to promote important episodes. Ronen posts a lot during filming and he loves to tease and hint at future Tarlos content. He doesn't post actual bts footage...I don't think he'd be allowed to share anything from when they're actively filming. But he posts selfies from set/his trailer frequently, and we can usually get little hints based on the outfits he's wearing and things like that. He usually interacts with fans a bit, talks about Tarlos all the time, and he'll sometimes live tweet episodes when they air. If it weren't for the greedy, soulless studios refusing to pay writers and actors what they deserve, we'd be mere weeks away from season 5 behind the scenes content...sadly, there's no telling when they'll be back to filming at this point.

The joint Tarlos lives are incredible but do appear to be a thing of the past. They haven't done one since before season 3. During season 3, they mentioned trying to organize another live a couple times, but it never happened. Then I don't think it was mentioned by either of them at all during season 4, and the only live Ronen did to promote the show was with Julian Works. I get the impression that Rafa doesn't want to do them anymore. He's a fairly private person and he's become less active on social media as the show/Tarlos got more popular. As an introvert who barely uses social media myself, I understand and respect that 100%...though I can't deny that I would love another Tarlos live more than almost anything! Who knows, it could still happen in the future someday, but I'm not expecting it. Regardless, we got a lot of great promotional content with both of them during season 4 and there are always the old lives to rewatch. If you haven't watched them all yet, I highly recommend it! As well as all the promotion they did for the season 4 finale! There are some great interviews and photoshoots out there to enjoy.

2023 FFRC - March🍀

Can you believe it's already April!? Crazy. Though you'd never know it here though, because my backyard still looks like Hoth. It's horrific. It's supposed to snow again tomorrow too. I just want to sit in my hammock.😢

Anyway, I hope you've all been doing well. MotherMaple (who just had a birthday btw🥳) recently came down with covid for the second time - so if you know her and love her, if you could please send her positive healing vibes, I would appreciate it (as her bestie who worries - I'm a worrier). Moving along -- our most exciting news this month was that my beautiful and talented daughter and her basketball team won Provincials (essentially our "State" Tournament). Go Spartans! The first time in our High School's history! I've blurred out the faces of the other girls to show you below - but here's a fun piece of trivia: two of the girls (the redhead and the brunette just to the right of my Bethy) were the girls who dressed up with her for Halloween 2017 as Betty, Veronica, and Cheryl - Mr. Aguirre-Sacasa even retweeted their photo back in the day. I'm so glad they're still all friends (though they're all smarter than I am because none of them still watch Rvd)

Okay - so getting back on track - as all of you should know by now, I'm a regular participant (and low-key assistant) at the @fanfic-reading-challenge - additionally, for the last couple of years, I've been tracking all the fic I read and I've reported back here once a month with some stats and some recs, and a little bit of boring stuff about my life. That's what this post is.

Below the cut are my March stats and some fun fic recs. I read nearly 2 million words this month - over 550 chapters (of various lengths), and 178 stories. I've been tackling the challenge tasks and am nearly done the 'extreme' mode. I'm still struggling with a few of the categories, but I think my goal this year is not only to complete the Regular/Hard/Extreme modes - but to complete every task. I'm at 212/309 so there is still some work to do.

An Unkindness by Agmo (Wavier - E 3/3)

Summary: Finding out that he is Wednesday Addams' soulmate goes about as well for Xavier as anything involving Wednesday Addams does.

Why you should read: Soulmates are my jam. This was originally a one-shot and even though my heart kinda ripped out of my chest where they ended it, the author surprised us with two extra chapters - AND IT WAS AMAZING. There is so much growth. Soulmates are my favourite when it's not a given that everything will turn out. Characters are still beings with agency. This story has room for this growth - and I could not recommend it more. Probably one of my favourites of the year so far.

For the Rare and Radiant Maiden by @drollicpixiefanfic (Wavier - E 6/6)

Summary: Xavier Thorpe didn’t exactly expect Wednesday to use the cell phone he purchased for her. It was a ridiculous idea, a whim, a fancy. But something had compelled him to try. So, it was with some shock, two weeks into their break from Nevermore, that Xavier’s phone buzzed on his nightstand. In which, Wednesday discovers her cell phone camera, though only filtered through a black and white lens and Xavier finds himself even more under her spell as a darker side of him begins to seep through his well maintained façade.

Why you should read: I'm always a fan of a good Post S1 fic and if you can give it to me in a Xavier pov then I'm probably going to love you forever. This one was really really fun - deals with Wednesday's stalker - and has a bit of that Dark!Xavier that Ajax mentioned in S1.

Summary: “Wednesday? What are you doing in my art studio?” It’s a stupid question, she decides. “What are you doing in my dream?” A more relevant counter. “Your dream? I thought this was my dream. Wait, are we dreaming?” Or the one where Wednesday finds herself unwittingly sharing dreams with Xavier over break. Fluff ensues.

Why you should read: SHARED DREAMING! And it's SO FLUFFY - it's the epitome of Agnes Gru squishing her fluffy unicorn. I love it.

Summary: It’s the way she texts him first, only a few short days after everyone has cleared out of Nevermore; and really he wasn’t even expecting that. It was meant to be a joke, adding his number and saying he’d settle for a text. But there it is. A new text from Wednesday Addams.  A simple picture of a dark and eerie fatalistic painting torn to shreds. ‘I believe some paintings are improved by the act of destroying them,’ reads the text sent directly after the picture, ‘which you should definitely take note of.’ 

Why you should read: Again - I LOVE post S1 fics where we get to speculate how Wednesday navigates modern technology and communication with Xavier. The stories are short so you can read them all in one go. Do it!

how i take moon photos, and how you can too using the same method (regular camera version)

ok so this is the first of a 2 part thing, one part (this part) will go over how i shoot moon photos with my regular photography camera and the other part will go over how i make larger mosaics with a telescope.

this is a method i've developed over the past 6 months, mainly for getting the most i can out of just a telephoto lens.

going to start by going over the equipment you need/the equipment i use for this:

a basic dslr/mirrorless camera. i use the nikon Z5, but it doesn’t matter which one really. it helps if it can shoot video at full resolution.

a telephoto lens, on a crop sensor camera it should be at least 200mm (and on a full frame, 300mm is preferable). i use a nikon F/4.5-5.6 70-300mm.

a tripod. this is really basic, any tripod works, it’s pretty much irrelevant as long as you have one.

that’s all the equipment you need, to take shots like this:

yes, you can do this with a regular nikon and telephoto lens. i took this with the gear stated above, using the processes i will now describe below.

alright so the first step is what i call gathering data.

this is when you’re actually outside shooting, all the images you’ll need for later processing. assuming the conditions are ok (meaning the moon is out, not blocked by clouds and isn’t right on the horizon), i go out and set up the gear.

during this period of time i’m trying to get 1 thing, but if the moon is full; 2, possibly 3 things.

the first thing is your main moon data. depending on whether you have a camera that can record in higher resolution, this can take the form of either recording a video or snapping a bunch of single shots (if you do the latter, make sure to use an inbuilt intervalometer if the camera has one. or get a regular one if you don't, it's a big help)

i usually do a 10 minute recording, which is about how long it takes the moon to move across my camera frame. at 30fps, this equates to about 18,000 frames.

the point of recording isn't to have a video, but mainly to 𝘯𝘰𝘵 have 18,000 individual photos. a video is just a concise way of producing and containing a TON of images really easily.

so you took a video, or depending on your camera you took a bunch of images, that's the first part done.

remember how i said, if there's a full moon or closer to it, i'm trying to get 2-3 things here? that's for me personally, because i often shoot composites during a full moon. skip this next part if you don't plan on that.

for reference, here's a composited vs non-composited version

now the second thing i want to get is my composite shot. it's only feasible during a close to full moon, because otherwise the edge in shadow will always look weird with the glow added. the composite shot itself is usually a few overexposed images (all at slightly different settings), to show the moon's glow and/or sometimes a few bright stars.

typically i just change the settings around, and shoot like 5-10 different exposures manually, but exposure bracketing could probably work too here. i haven't tried it.

as long as you can't see any features on the moon, and the sky around it is noticeably brightened, you're good in terms of exposure. just make sure the edge of the moon is still visible, that's necessary for compositing later.

if there are any nice clouds out, i also try to wait and get a few shots with those near the moon.

the third optional thing (still under compositing, keep skipping if you aren't) is taking a shot or two of the blank sky with stars, to composite a shot like this:

this is a very quick thing, just point your camera somewhere away from the moon where you see a few stars, and take a couple second exposure to bring them out. you can zoom out more than whatever you're at for the moon shot to get some more stars, or keep it the same. either way works.

alright now we're back to the main part of the guide.

you've got your moon data at this point, your equipment is brought in, now you just have to do the processing.

with this method most of the work is the processing, i'll try to cover it all quickly here

firstly you need to process the main moon data. all i have is a video at this point, i need to turn that into a real finished image

doing this processing requires a couple programs (most of which are windows-only), but are all 100% free. if you intend on doing moon photography often, i would recommend getting a very cheap windows laptop for this purpose. quality doesn't matter whatsoever.

the first program i use is called PIPP (planetary image preprocesser), and this is mainly used to get your video in a state where it can be processed.

i typically upload the video, set it to crop every frame right around the moon (all that black space is extra processing time!), sort the frames by quality and cut out maybe 50% or 75% but this depends on how many frames i took. in my case of 18k, this cuts me down to 9k or 5k or so.

the resulting, processed video (once again using video as an image holding format because it's easy) is then exported to the next program: Autostakkert.

this one is to stack the images, into one really nice image. stacking is why i took so many images in the first place, i won't explain all the logistics of stacking here, but just know that it works and you should do it. stacking is one huge improvement you can make to your shots that's very easy to do.

so in autostakkert, i cull about 50% more of the frames, and stack the remainder of them.

personally i also drizzle 1.5x (drizzling = image upscaling basically) because on a 300mm telephoto lens and full frame camera, the moon is just not that many pixels. you can do whatever on this, if you're at 600mm or 800mm it's probably not as necessary, but it's really helpful at anything below that.

once it stacks, i take the resulting image into a third program: Registax.

this one i use for one sole purpose, wavelets. it's an optional step, and once again i will not explain in any detail how they work, but the result is basically a good sharpening tool. like REALLY good. i recommend trying it.

it's a simple program, i just upload the image and then change the wavelet sliders until it's sharpened to a nice degree.

and lastly, i export that image over to a regular photo editor. photoshop if you have it, lightroom works too only if you aren't compositing, i personally use photopea which is a very nice photoshop clone website that's free. look it up.

what i do here is just basic photo editing stuff first, expand the crop and add black (remember, in my case the stacked image was cropped all the way in), sharpen it a little more, up the saturation maybe for mineral colors, etc.

in here i also usually upscale the image again, this is optional

if you did not intend on compositing, and don't care how i do it, you're done! you should have a very passable moon shot at the moment, or if you're just reading out of curiousity, a very passable understanding of how i take them.

if you do care, here's the process:

so firstly i bring up the final cropped and finished edit of the main moon in the photo editor, and the composite shot on another layer above it. lower the opacity, then line up/resize the glow moon with the regular moon.

next you basically just get a low opacity/low hardness eraser, and erase the center of the glow moon so the regular surface detail shows through in the middle, but the edges stay glowy- and then i increase opacity back to full again.

it can take a few tries and messing around to get this part to look right, but making sure they're lined up perfectly is half the battle.

now you have a composited full moon, that looks something like this!

whether you're using it as a guide with your own shots (if so, good luck on them!) or just wanted to know how i take them, i hope you enjoyed the guide; i like to be transparent with how i make stuff, especially with something like this where most people have no idea how the photo is created behind the scenes.

There's a new piece of Danganronpa merchandise available for pre-order on AmiAmi - Key of Love keychains!

You can buy a single keychain at random for 1,210 JPY or the complete set of 16 for 19,360 JPY. Buying an entire set gives you 1 random photo card as a bonus.

I preordered 3 full sets (THH, SDR2, and V3) to collect my favorite characters and will be left with 39 extra characters. Because of that, I put together a box split/sales post in the hopes of getting rid of the extra!

I'm charging $8 USD for each keychain + shipping ($6) and taking payments via PayPal and Venmo. Photo cards will also be available for reservation (keep reading for more info).

When...

...do the keychains come out?

Preorders are expected to release/ship out sometime in February 2024. I'll start sorting/packing when they get to me.

...do we have to pay for our claims?

I think it's a pretty good deal for everyone! You get the exact keychain you want for a decent price, you help me (not really) break even, and I don't have to own 48 keychains. Hunting for merch can be difficult/pricey, plus I've always wanted to organize a box split. I'm pretty much selling these at a loss but I think it's worth it even if just one person gets what they want! If these don't sell here or on Mercari I'm most likely gonna pass them out for free at our local anime convention next year.

How does this work?

Well! This is my first time doing this so the main post is mostly based off of how shsl-box-split runs their splits (+ throw a bit of Harpys_ on IG in there too). They're both incredibly wonderful and friendly so I highly suggest checking them out!

I am one person doing this alone so please be patient with me during this process. Basically, it'll go something like this:

Decide on what keychain(s) you want + what photo cards you'd like to try for.

Send me an ask containing which characters you want (I will not post your message, it's just to help me see who claimed what first!) as well as your preferred payment method (Paypal or Venmo). Claims are first come, first served.

I'll DM you to confirm your claims, total, and send either a link to my Paypal or my Venmo username. Please do not claim keychains if you cannot immediately pay for them.

After payment is received, I will update the split post with your username and log down relevant information into a separate spreadsheet. At this time you are free to send me your shipping address (recommended) or wait to send it at a later time.

We time travel wait for the February 2024 release date!

Shortly after the keychains get to me in February, I will begin sorting and packing. Before sending anything out, I will message you one last time to confirm that your claims and address are correct (or ask for your address if you haven't already sent it).

I send off your package using USPS! It arrives at your mailbox! Boom, transaction complete! :D

About photo cards...

Each set comes with one random photo card. Every character will have 3 slots and you are allowed to reserve one photo card for every keychain purchased. Reserving a photo card does not guarantee that you will receive one. Some examples: You buy one 1 keychain and reserve a Hajime photo card - if any of the sets come with Hajime, he's yours! You're the last (third) person to reserve Hajime's photo card. You will only get him if - by some miracle - all three bonus cards are revealed to be Hajime. You claim Hajime, but the photo cards are of Makoto, Kaede, and Shuichi. You will not receive a photo card with your order. Your best bet is to reserve characters that don't already have reservations or to reserve different characters (if purchasing multiple keychains). I don't think there'll be duplicates, but for the sake of covering all bases, 15 slots are available for reserving photo cards.

This split will be open until the sets arrive at my door. If you need to pull out of the split, please, do not contact/start a dispute with Paypal or Venmo. Let me know what's up and I will send back your money. No shame, no judgement.

If for whatever reason my preorder is cancelled, something comes in damaged, etc. I will send out an explanation message + offer refunds to those affected. I do not give out refunds if your package has already been shipped.

"Midoriya."

"...Yeah?"

"Just spit it out."

"Jirou, Mina, and Tokoyami were kidnapped!" He blurted. "The only lead we have is a photo, and I remembered you saying you had a knack for tracking stuff without your quirk so uh… I was wondering if you'd-"

"Why the fuck is that even a question, show me the photo." I looked him dead in the eyes. It shouldn't have been a question if I would at least try to track them.

He slid over a printed picture of them being dragged unconscious off to someplace in whatever building they were currently in.

"It's from an anonymous source, I managed to swipe a copy of it cause when you track successfully its usually quicker…"

I scanned it for every detail in the environment then pulled out a scrap of paper and wrote down the address.

"Woah, that was quicker than I thought…" I heard him whisper.

"It's a more zoomed out shot than most so there's a lot more environment for me to analyze and pinpoint."

"Okay, thank you, I'll, uh-"

I folded and pocketed the paper. "You won't do shit. I'll take care of it, they'll be back by tonight."

He looked at me stunned.

"Just trust me on this one alright?" I said.

He nodded and walked away, letting me return to my homework.

The villains who took them were the LOV, who else, and luckily I had a separate persona for dealing with them.

Had it not been for the handcuffs looped around a bar I'm certain all 3 of them would be backing as far away from me as possible. I noticed a bloody knife that had been used on them was laying on a nearby countertop. Probably Toga's.

"Alright, here's what we're gonna do, first I'm checking you all for injuries." I approached slowly and checked as quickly as I could, mentally noting every laceration and wound I saw.

"Now for the fun part," I murmured to myself. I got out my lockpick set. "Once you give me your wrists, we're all in agreement that you follow my instructions until we're out, is that clear?"

"I don't think you'll have much time for that, Copycat."

I turned around. Toga. Of course.

"Oh, won't I?" I challenged, picking up her knife and lunging.

While they were all distracted and it seemed I was preoccupied with fighting Toga, I broke the handcuffs from a distance using one of my quirks. Using my birth one, I sent a telepathic message, 'you three need to run NOW, I broke the cuffs, get out of here.'

Toga seemed to notice but that's where she faltered, giving me an opening.

She nodded, and somewhat afraid expression crossing her face.

I left and went to find the others, in time to take a hit for one of them from Shigaraki, whose quirk did not work on me. Not when my others were active and negating his.

"You'll have to go through me first, bitch," I said.

"Why are you even helping them‽" he demanded.

"They're my friends. And the real Copycat looks a little something like this." I removed the illusion surrounding my body.

The revelation was disorienting enough for me to kick him back and herd the others out the door.

"Welp, looks like I can't use that disguise anymore around them…" I muttered to myself leading them to a public area so we could take the transit back to campus.

"It's me alright, I was posing as her to get info. I don't have the time to explain, let's just get back to campus please," I told them.
