Something a lil different, some new original characters of mine that have been cooking in my head for a few days 👀
ALSO, HAPPY PRIDE EVERYONE!
New trope is dropping now because I said so, Dragon and Unicorn trope.
Can I explain this trope? Yes and no, am I going to? No, I wanna see what people make of it 👀
Their names are Eira (the fair haired one) and Noma (the short haired one) <3
I'll add more information to this and repost it when I get more proper research done for them! I've ALWAYS wanted to make more historically accurate characters, and I honestly adore the concept of these 2 sm-
Lemme know what you guys think!

So I don't usually ship characters in videogames unless they're explicitly mentioned/canonical (mostly cuz my aroace ass never picks up on it lmao) BUT
I started thinking about Ji x Jietong and I have not. been able. to stop.
There's a few reasons for it, but I haven't really done any lore deepdives (aka looking into interviews, lore videos, etc) so this is all mostly from the top of my head and a quick scan of Ji's wiki page lmao (SPOILERS, tw: suicide):
Ji's dialogue with Yi re the Farewell Passage (or whatever it's called, I can't quite remember, sorry): iirc, Ji doesn't really talk about that many people by name in his various pieces of dialogue and they tend to talk about the past in pretty vague terms, so it really stuck out to me that he a) mentions Jietong by name and b) gave enough of a shit to discuss his legacy with Yi in relative detail. From a gameplay/plot standpoint, this was probably included to help Yi's character arc/introduce Ji's worldview, but I can't help but feel like Ji's uncharacteristic investment in Jietong's death and legacy points to a much more personal relatinoship with the guy than just "Oh he was my boss at one point" or "yeah he was an interesting historical figure."
Ji's Vital Sanctum memories: Jietong's death made such a significant impact on Ji's worldview and character that it was one of the four or five memories Yi sees in Ji's soulscape. This in and of itself is already pretty indicative of Ji caring about Jietong and what happens to him; coupled with (1) and the fact that the only other person who's "death" Ji remembers in detail is Lear (who we know he considered a dear friend), it seems pretty fair to say they were quite attached to Jietong.
In Mandarin, Jiequan calls Ji guoshi, which is a term referring to a state advisor/teacher (I think), even though no one else does. A lot of other people have already figured out that Ji was an advisor of sorts for the Jie kingdom at some point early on, and it stuck out to me that Ji is apparently still considered guoshi for the exiled Jie clan even though the kingdom doesn't exist anymore. Why stick around after all this time? Not to mention that, though Jiequan's dialogue with Ji is mostly Jiequan being like "hey you were fucking wrong dumbass", he does still seem to hold some measure of respect or trust for Ji and their divination. How closely did Jietong hold Ji's counsel back then for that respect and trust to remain in the clan even centuries later?
I'm also just a sucker for tragic doomed gays, and I can't stop thinking about Ji foreseeing how Jietong's life would end and trying everything they can to avert it, only to watch helplessly as the future remains unchanged no matter what he tries to do.

Bargain of Blood and Gold by Kristin Jacques - 3.75/5 stars
Reminiscent of Jordan L Hawk's Widdershins series, but with vampires and werewolves. Also takes place in Maine, which isn't a very common setting. Unwittingly, I bought the second book in the series months ago, and I realized as it got to the top of my TBR that I didn't have the first book! I had to scramble to order it and I was happy I enjoyed it since, obviously, I already have the second book.
Ander & Santi Were Here by Jonny Garza Villa - DNF at pg 2
Captive Prince by CS Pacat (reread) - 5/5 stars
Prince's Gambit by CS Pacat (reread) - 5/5 stars
Kings Rising by CS Pacat - 5/5 stars
I think I loved these books even more on my reread.
Gravity by Tal Bauer - 4.25/5 stars
Probably my favorite hockey romance that I've read.
The Modern Mythos Anomaly by Juniper Lake Fitzgerald - DNF at pg 132
I actually liked the story, the characters, and the writing in general, but this book just needed another few edits to slim it down a bit.
Lose You to Find Me by Erik J Brown - 4.5/5 stars
Leeward by Katie Daysh - 4.5/5 stars
The blurbs on this book are hilarious, because they're all like, tall ships people, and then Mackenzi Lee, hailing it as a lovely queer historical romance. This was a really lovely book and I'm excited for the sequel. Also hoping for more kissing in the sequel since this was a serious slow burn.
Riley Weaver Needs a Date to the Gaybutante Ball by Jason June - 3.75/5 stars
Starseer by Katya Hernández - 4/5 stars
Be Dazzled by Ryan La Sala - 5/5 stars
I loved this book so much!! Oh my god. Super funny, very romantic. It revolves around cosplay which is of course a special interest of mine.
Northranger by Rey Terciero and Bre Indigo - 4.5/5 stars
Flying Without a Net by EM Ben Shaul - 2.75/5 stars
The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley (reread) - 5/5 stars
Striking Distance by Sarah Rees Brennan - 4.75/5 stars
I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. The graphic novels were good but changing to a novel format allowed for much deeper characters. Surprisingly devastating and also really funny.
The Old Haunts by Allan Radcliffe - 4/5 stars
The Gay Best Friend by Nicholas DiDomizio - 5/5 stars
Main character is the best friend of both the bride and the groom, and everything surrounding the wedding becomes a train wreck beginning on the weekend of the bachelor party, when the bride asks the MC, Dom, to keep tabs on the groom for her. As someone who is extremely conflict avoidant with friends but not family and romantic partners, I heavily related to Dom. There's also a romance that I really loved.
Romance Languages by AJ Truman - 4.25/5 stars
I think this was my favorite of the South Rock series. It deals with some more difficult topics—Julian's self-loathing over his body image is heartbreaking (and relatable), and Seamus's guilt over the way his gambling addiction hurt his ex was very well done. I'm a sucker for stories where a character learns to ask for help, not to mention difficult parent-child relationships, and this had both. I also appreciated Julian's arc re: sex and virginity.
Darkhearts by James L Sutter - 5/5 stars
Another bandmates-in-love treasure, with a twist—the main character, David, left the band right before they got famous. He ends up falling for one of his ex-friends/bandmates after they reconnect. The author is a musician himself, and it definitely shows (in a good way). I'm really a sucker for The Burdens of Fame, which this book definitely had, but there's actually a really good arc for David and how he deals with his jealousy and resentment over being left behind. Plus he wants to be a carpenter rather than go to college, which was cool.
Brute by Kim Fielding - 4.25/5 stars
We Could Be So Good by Cat Sebastian - 5/5 stars
What can I say about this book? Why was it so lovely? Why did it make me feel so much? Why can I not rate things higher than 5 stars? It's a million stars in my heart. Aside from just being a gorgeous mid-century America m/m romance (my favorite), this one features an Italian-American main character. The stuff with Nick's family was spot-on. I just loved this book. I felt like I was wrapping myself in a big, comfy, historical gay romance blanket.
Drowned Country by Emily Tesh - 5/5 stars
The sequel to Silver in the Wood. Had a very mythic and sort of folk horror vibe. This one is from Henry Silver's POV instead of Tobias Finch's and takes place two years after Silver in the Wood, which is time that Henry has mostly spent sulking in Greenhollow Hall, sans Tobias. Really highly recommend this duology. Emily Tesh is a treasure.
The Alchemy of Moonlight by David Ferraro - DNF at pg 11

Me : Hasn't watched a single drama from 2024 because I was too busy
Me: Goes to mydramalist to find something romantic to watch and starts reading comments on all the stuff that seems interesting sees that for almost every one of these fall into one of two camps the first one which houses the majority of shows the comments are exclusively about the guy and how much of a simp or green flag he is (their words not mine) the second category is people are criticizing the show for portraying an uneven dynamic where the fl treats the ml like shit
Me: backs away slowly and goes back to my binge watch of star trek deep space nine
Idk what it is if it's the writing or the different type of fans or a combination of both all I know I'm very confused 🤔 have we fallen into a different timeline ? Parallel universe? Have screens cooked our brains completely?
my friend, your first mistake was raw dogging the comments section on MDL 🙈😂😭 gotta proceed with caution these days 🚧🚧🚧🚧
but I got you. If you want to dip your toes back into 2024 cdramas romances,
* Legend of Shen Li is almost universally liked. I don't know that I encountered a real hater. Don't turn that into sky high expectations that can't be met, though. It's simply a solid xanxia romance with a very strong landing - 1 full length episode dedicated to the happy ending, instead of the xanxia standard 1 minute. The most high god in the universe x demon general who is engaged to heaven's notorious playboy that's terrified of her. and who is temporarily a chicken. (just go with it) The main couple have chemistry & are very capable actors. Rarely do I make it thru a xanxia without ever being consumed with rage at some awful thing the plot has one of the main couple perpetrate on the other... but this one passed! The main actress is convincing as an immortal warrior.
* Blossoms in Adversity is NOT universally liked, tbh it got almost no traction on tumblr. But despite all its flaws I found myself watching it eagerly. I am a sucker for historical costume dramas with feminist themes - if you enjoyed Dream of Splendor, this one might appeal. After all the men in the family are exiled and they are stripped of their noble status, the main wives, concubines, children, and servants of a large official's household have to figure out a way to survive on their own. Without the guidance (and yoke) of men. The strength of the drama is that it isn't easy - these women are not all kind & smart & selfless. They're complicated people and a product of their environment. But watching them slowly come together was so satisfying, and how all the women begin to explore an identity beyond the strict roles they held in that manor. It's so direct about how much power men had over their wives in that era and what that means for these women. The main otp will appeal if you like ships of 2 mature adults who have their own goals and respect each other as equals, who are supportive but don't step on each other's independence. The FL's practicality was so pleasing to me. It just dropped it's final episodes via Express.
* The Spirealm available legally now on Viki, if your tastes run to censored gay romance. And if you like mystery/ horror and like fiction that asks, what is reality (and does the definition of 'real' matter). Like in korean bl Love for Love's Sake, the protagonist enters a game world and ends up caring about that world. (unlike LFLS, a distinct lack of kissing with tongue)
* In Blossom - Chinese het web novel vibes just exploding onto the screen. Childhood sweathearts torn apart years ago, now he's a rich noble while she's poor but he still wants to marry her as promised. (She is less sure about this.... then she gets her body swapped by this crazy chick who really REALLY wants to marry the ML. who, ooops gets murdered on their wedding night.) So now FL is in crazy chick's body and the #1 suspect for her gruesome murder is ML, that childhood sweetheart who showed up out of the blue to propose. and happens to be the top candidate in running to marry the crown princess 🤔🤔🤔 . She thinks he (tried to) kill her. He thinks she's dead and hates the lady she's stuck impersonating. Spoiler: they fall in love.
* Amidst a Snowstorm of Love - Slice of life soft cdrama, if you like that kind of thing. Developing relationship for like 30 episodes about 2 professional snooker players. Relaxing vibes, sweet romance. They're both kind, talented, and capable. They're good for each other and really humanly awkward about starting a relationship. You don't watch this kinda drama for dramatic tension, you just chill with it and wind down after a hard day. It's baked-in that they'll get married at the end.

Can I ask, if you have top favorite romantic couples (can be canon or non canon) of all time from any media? Why love them? Thx :D
ANON SORRY THIS ASK HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY INBOX FOR FIVE BILLION YEARS
this is such a fun thing to think about but my brain of course is just going "ichisama ichisama ichisama" nonstop, but now i will sit down and properly try to think of a top five (like the top 10 characters ask, i'll limit this to animanga and possibly group some together; i'm also limiting myself to ONLY icsm from hpmi, or this whole list would be hpmi lmao)
1. in first place of course it is ICHISAMA FOR LIFE
Tumblr media
using this image yet again because well it's right there in my pinned and very convenient
i am a sucker for the dumb of ass kind of heart one falling for the bad boy with a heart of gold one, ESPECIALLY when they have the friends to enemies to lovers arc that ichisama does (ok the to lovers part is obviously hc only but hoo boy it is a strong hc)
what can i say about them really besides that i am writing a fic a day for them every day this year. i think that. says it all lol
2. gotta be koyanagi/kabakura wotakoi AND kashima/hori gsnk
Tumblr media Tumblr media
while i'm not saying they are identical ships they definitely fall into the same bucket for me, and boy oh boy do i love that bucket
kashima and hori make me belligerently delighted, and koyanagi and kabakura make me a special sort of feral that i don't even know how to start in on
i really like narumi and hirotaka from wotakoi too, but there's something about koyanagi and kabakura that gets to me way more. the geek4geek dynamic is just impeccable with all four of them but the
[PUTTING THE CUT HERE BECAUSE WOTAKOI SPOILERS BELOW, ALSO TOKYO GHOUL SPOILERS FARTHER DOWN]
koyanagi/kabakura wedding just gave me a special sort of glee. i just don't think there's a single thing i don't love to pieces about them, their backstory ova only makes them better
3. saaaaaaya and yuusuke from neon sign amber (aka aokise knb)
Tumblr media
obligatory shoutout to the boys of my FAVORITE BL OF ALL TIME ok so like as far as bl goes neon sign amber is really not the most unique thing, i would say. but that's what makes it so perfect to me
i feel like a lot of outstanding bl are great in ways that are 'atypical' for bl, like how saezuru is bl, sure, but also comes with a genuinely gripping gritty yakuza plot. and many others that are highly praised tend to be praised by people going "oh this is good because it's not like TYPICAL bl" which i have feelings about but let's not get into that here
neon sign amber is my favorite because it is very much a typical bl, it has a lot of the typical tropes (guy who's been historically straight but is "gay for you" for example)
i don't necessarily love any of those tropes, but i adore what neon sign amber does with them. it is practically a cookie cutter bl, but its characters (despite existing for only one volume of a manga) live in my heart forever. it takes that "gay for you" trope and doesn't gloss over the problems that could arise in a relationship like that, instead actually addressing them in a way i found satisfying
saya especially is one of my guys of all time, and given that they're kind of obviously aokise i'm lumping them in here too. mwah
4. idolish7 YUKIMOMO MY BELOVEDS (e banri)
Tumblr media
thought about this one a lot because i feel like i normally like them in a... normal way, so do they really make the top five? but honestly i think they do
i love their stage gay married act and i love to think that's very much rooted in a foundation of they are actually fucking in love with each other. but just that would've made them a cute but not too memorable ship to me
THEIR BACKSTORY THOUGH. MY GOD. first of all baby momo looks literally just like tdd ichiro which is a. a lot. for me. lmao but anyway setting that aside
momo discovering revale at such a pivotal time in his life, being saved by them, becoming their fans, and then being the one to replace banri after THAT happened??? and then five years later feeling like he's running out of time with yuki and ad;slkfja;lkdsfj
i'm becoming incoherent just thinking about it. anyway i guess this is kind of an ot3 for me though i like it in very much a "we are a couple and we are, as a couple, dating banri" sort of thing (not because they wouldn't ever see banri as an equal partner but because imo banri has better things to do than get too involved in that lol)
5. this last one... is so tough... i think i'm giving it to VARIOUS RELATIONSHIPS IN TOKYO GHOUL
Tumblr media
ok this is absolutely cheating and ultimately i think what i would have to say is kaneki and hide because like. eat my face to survive is peak romance to me, sorry. as if it's my fault
HOWEVER there are just so many relationships in tokyo ghoul that i'm absolutely obsessed with. amon/akira and nishio/kimi especially!! amon and akira are so so so delightful to me, in a way similar to roy and riza fma, and nishio and kimi are just. i mean. again. eat me to survive. peak romance
(and i swear i'm not a nishio stan because of voice actor bias, i have not watched tokyo ghoul yet because i have been repeatedly and sternly warned away from it... nishio is one of my manga favorites even without the asnm factor, but good fucking lord does the asnm factor tempt me to watch)
the writing in tokyo ghoul is genuinely just so good to me. the main plot is fantastic but what really makes it is the relationships between characters, both romantic and not
(also a fan of the one-sided tsukiyama/kaneki thing going on but strictly as a one-sided thing lol, tsukiyama get wrecked (said with affection))
so i think that is. more or less where my top five would be. though it's like. it's hard. and probably always changing. those are the first beloved ones to come to my though so they will go in this post and i will smack myself in the forehead and be like "I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT ______" as soon as i go to sleep probably
thank you for the ask!

Best Books I Read in 2022
In no particular order
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. Okay, I know I said "no particular order" but I think this was my #1 for the year. Starting with a misunderstood, nerdy bookworm, who ends up being the only one who can save the word, how can it get better? Maybe the fantasy, the interdimensional travel, the demigods... I'll absolutely reread this one again.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab. Magical realism, historical fiction, and a hint of the devil. What's not to love?
The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun. Hey, the first in the list that isn't a drama. In fact, this rom-com has it all: neurodiversity, secret relationships, 'let's fuck away our problems', and lots of queer representation!
The Chrysalids by John Wyndham. Oops, back to the serious books. I'm a sucker for dystopian novels, and knew I'd love this. If you can, listen to the audiobook read by Noah Reid; his narration is chef's kiss.
A Marvelous Light by Freya Marske. More historical fantasy with magical realism! Plus throw in some turn-of-the-century queer folks, and you're all set! At least I am, because apparently magical queer books are my jam.
A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas. Okay, this fantasy doesn't have a bunch of queer representation, but it's got lots of smut! The latest in the Court of Thorns and Roses series, this one follows a different MC who is kind of a super bitch, and I kind of love it.
Hell Followed With Us by Andrew Joseph White. Oh good, back to the weird gay books. This post-apocalyptic horror stars a trans teen who revolts against the radical evangelical terrorists who unleashed a plague upon the world. This is a book that sinks it's teeth into you. And claws.
A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. More historical fantasy with interdimensional travel and magic! Not as gay, but just as interesting, and the second book has a strong female main character.
All That's Left in the World by Erik J. Brown. Another book about post-apocalyptic queer youths! This one is much less horror than the previously mentioned, but more heartwarming. Two teen boys trying to find their way in a post-pandemic work (not COVID, but a similar illness with a more drastic outcome).
Book Lovers by Emily Henry. Sorry to end this list with a heterosexual rom-com, but we do what we have to. A book about two people who love books, working on a book? With a bookstore?! Yes please!
Honorable Mention: Heartstopper, by Alice Oseman. This year I re-read the graphic novels, as well as some of the novels and novellas of the Osemanverse, and the Hearstopper Yearbook. Loved the show? You'll love the books even better. I don't know how Alice does it, but she created some of the best characters to ever live on the page.

how much hope do you have for a spn revival of any kind? and if this happens, how well do you expect destiel will be addressed? (what's your hope vs your expectations)
Revival. Hope: They don't do a revival. Expectation: Unsure. There is a LOT of animosity in this fandom, and they're in a corner where no matter what they do they're gonna piss off a large chunk of fans enough to stop watching. I don't think they can afford to lose that chunk if they want to keep it going beyond a quick limited run. I feel like they're going to keep teasing and 'what-if'ing for a while to see if tensions will die down enough to wade back in. Destiel being addressed.
Hope: I mean I'd like it in theory to get confirmed. But on the other side of that, the writers aren't historically GREAT at writing relationships and I'm not sure I want to see how they butcher it. I don't want to watch it get turned into a conflict-generator for plot.
And I don't want to see it awkwardly fumbled by a bunch of non-queer older writers who think "oh shit they gay now" and fundamentally change the nature of their relationship and actions because they're too stuck in stereotype to realize that them being gay doesn't immediately mean flamingly effeminate.
Expectation: They're not going for it. At best it gets swept under the rug, at worst they're going for blanket rejection. But I'm guessing its the first. They can't afford to lose the number of people that they'd lose going for it. It doesn't matter if people who like Destiel are the majority (arguable), they can't afford to lose that many other people and still have a successful show.
Equally they cannot afford to lose all the destiel endgamers.
Which is why I don't think they'll make a revival.
Yet.
If I had to put money somewhere, it's that in ten years they're gonna make a continuing series that follows twin werewolf brothers Cas and Sam teamed up with their slightly younger bestie human hunter Dean. And we're going to get a next generation hunter show that suckers a bunch of us into watching it for nostalgia while getting to well distance themselves and basically start fresh.

My thoughts on The Irregulars
Okay, I've just binge watched Netflix's The Irregulars. To be honest I didn't know pretty much anything about it before I started, I decided to check it out because I had heard Watson was canonically queer in this version. Glancing at the synopsis made me think that it would be a story of Sherlock Holmes's cases told through the perspective of the members of street gangs he hires to find information for him (which I thought was a cool idea with a lot of potential). So I was pretty disappointed when I started watching and found out that 1. it was fantasy and 2. it had nothing of the iconic cases from the original source material. I hate when shows take crime cases and add ✨ supernatural ✨ twists to them for no reason, because what's really fun about this particular genre is gradually figuring out how the crime was orchestrated. When you add the paranormal to that, it's harder to look for clues and draw conclusions yourself because magic makes anything possible and you need to wait for the show to explain it to you.
But I was really pleasantly surprised that the show didn't take the "crime but with a magic twist" route and committed to the idea, making everything revolve around the supernatural instead. So Holmes and Watson aren't regular detectives, they specifically deal with paranormal cases, Mycroft isn't just working for the government, he's a member of a magic cult.
I've seen many people complain that this version makes Holmes, and especially Watson completely unlikable, but this darker characterization is actually the thing I enjoyed the most. When it's done in the usual way, with Holmes as the brilliant detective and Watson as his companion, the narrator and a stand-in for the audience, he needs to be passive to some degree, because the structure of the story demands that of him. But by placing them in the background, you can stop treating them as narrative tools and actually focus on them being characters. And when you take this approach, and look at the things Watson actually does - choosing to associate himself with an eccentric drug addict and lead a particularly dangerous lifestyle - it starts to make sense that he's a little bit fucked up, actually. Also I'm a sucker for unrequited love and gay yearning, so he was bound to be my favorite.
Sherlock disappointed me a little bit to be honest. He's alright I guess, I just wish they'd do something more interesting with him. But they gave him a cunty earring, so that's a plus. (Also the actor reminded me of Taika Waititi for some reason...?)
A small part of me kind of wishes that instead of changing their characterization so drastically they'd simply make their own characters... But in that case I would have probably never watched this show, so I guess it works as a way to draw attention.
The main characters are... fine? A very typical YA fantasy team (*cough* Six of Crows *cough*). I liked how casually yet maturely they handled the sexual stuff between them, I liked Billy's struggle with his trauma. Most things about them was done well, although it was nothing revolutionary.
What really bugged me was the costume design. I won't be complaining about historical inaccuracies because it's clear the show wasn't going for realism, but why couldn't they have just chosen 1 time period (or a set of silhouettes at least) to take inspiration from and commit to it? The fashion is all over the place.
All in all it was okay? Definitely better than Warrior Nun, another cancelled show - very flawed and clumsily written but still close to my heart. It's a shame there won't be a continuation, but I don't think there needs to be.

PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME ABOUT THE MAINE 1895 STORY!!! I'm such a sucker for period dramas (I'm in the early stages of planning a Titanic historical fiction story set in WW1).
HI THANK U FOR ASKING ABOUT IT!!! alright so i already gave the basic overview in this ask , so i will expand on it here hehe :)
okay SO. besides the characters of mira, henry, alfred, georgie, and earnest, there are also other characters. two of them being the bennetts.
jack bennett lives on the streets with his younger sister, ida bennett, where they steal and trick people so they can get food. henry accidentally has an Experience with him when he goes into town for the first time in years and watches as jack slyly steals something or other (haven't figured that part out yet) from a food stand (he has a very keen eye). henry chases after jack, insisting he give it back, but jack refuses. rivals to lovers ensues (i have yet to figure all of the logistics out yet). at some point ida gets sick though and jack brings her to the windell's home so she can get better.
so. henry and jack are gay. and i already made them a ship name
winnett

okay so so far nobody really knows what the next james bond is gonna look like but i've just come up with my dream concept and i just love it so i thought i'd share *even tho james bond tumblr is basically nonexistent*
okay so I grew up with the old movies, theyre a part of my childhood and i cant help but love them but as i grew older i ofc couldnt just unsee the extreme sexism and general ideology of the movies
i generally think the new ones have been going in the right direction but what i have in my is completely different
so imagene:
It iiiis set in the sixties again, all the crazy and beautfiul styles and cars inclusive
the same cast (partly) so the old Q, monneypenny, M, Nomi, Paola, and ofc Felix Leiter
and they just play they're old part in the sixties
without hllding back, meaning Q is openly gay, monneypenny, noma and paola are raging female agents and all that
but just... no misogynie? no homophobia? no racism?
don't come at me with "its not realistic"
because thats my point, i dont care
its fiction, its whatever we make it
why not give women, LGBTQs and poc a historical movie that isnt about them being discrimminated
i just kinda love the idea
to me it would also kinda make up for the old movies, just say hey what u did we can do better
007 could either be nomi
or
alright aaron tyler johnson call me basic but i love it
but he would be like a way younger and more unexperienced agent
also i would love for him to not be this posh upper class
he could speak like a really heavy cogney
or it would slip put when hes angry
and make him emtional!!!! not only pain and sadness, we've seen that, make him filled with joy about saving people, laughing, childish jokes again (some of the old jokes were actually funny bring that back) make him cocky, raging, and growing
also at some point give him a strange random kid as sidekick for a movie cause i'm a sucker for that dynamic
also i know that that would like make boomers explode but make him a manslut again but a bisexual one
Tumblr media
and not one that exploits and fools his partner but one that honestly thinks he's in love everyday but isn't lying about his intentions or sth like that

i went to the hotel bar.
Last night, I went to the cheesy hotel bar in the lobby of the hotel I'm staying in. I was irritated at some of the friends I was there with, and just wanted a little me time, have a glass of wine, maybe flirt with the bartender.
I got out of the elevator, and walked over to the bar, and took a seat. There were a few people sitting at the tables around the bar, waiting for their food to be brought to them, or their empty dishes to be taken away. The sweet, mildly twinky bartender met me with a polite "be with you in a minute man." I get my pleasantly sized glass of Red Moscato (I'm a sucker for a sweet wine) and contemplate, savoring a few minutes of solitude after being in a car or on a plane all day. The bartender chats with me for a few minutes about what I'm in town for, the other bars he works in, and what he thinks is the go-to gay bar in Seattle to check out. I think he can tell that I wasn't having a great night, and so he kind of left me to my (slightly sulking) wine drinking.
I am people watching out the window when an older woman of maybe 60 comes up to the bar, and I hear her order some sour drink and a water, only half paying attention. The bartender gives her the same chat that he gave me, with the "Whatcha in town for?" and I half listen to her answer. She says somethings about museums, how she works in museums in one way or another, until she mentions the name of an artist that I am a huge fan of, being that there is a large installation of his works in the MoA in my city. The bartender darts away to help another patron, and I, without thinking, pipe up and say, "I'm sorry, did you say C******?" and she responds yes, and I tell her about the installations of his work. She responds that she is a huge fan, and is going to see a garden of his glass work in Seattle. I say "How fascinating!" and realize that she is chicly dressed with ornate enamel glasses. She sips a bright yellow cocktail with a lemon wedge floating in it, clearly enjoying her choice.
I go all in and ask if I might join her. We make our introductions, and we discuss her degrees in interior decoration and museum curation. I tell her about my love and studies in history, and we discuss some of the best museums we'd seen, as she is writing a book about museums that the average person wouldn't know. I talk to her about my fascination with royal and historic jewelry, especially lost jewelry. We talk about the Irish Crown Jewels, and the Mirror of Great Britaine, the Tiffany Diamond, and every other fascinating jewel I could think of. She told me about the first time she saw the Victoria and Albert Musem when she hitchhiked across the UK in the 1980s. It was truly fascinating.
She twirled the lilac slik scarf tied around her throat with one hand as she regailed me with a tale about a restored sitting room that still smelled like the violet powder the house's mistress preferred in the 1890s. She told me about how art, from all walks of life, must be preserved, and museums are the way to that. Museums put art in front of the masses, and offers glimpses of heaven.
We ended up talking for well over an hour. I hope to be as interesting as she is when I've lived on this earth for as long as she has.
Susan. Her name was Susan.

one of the weird differences between the recent reimagining of perry mason on hbo and the old tv version is that the older version is frequently *supremely* dark and violent in ways the new version shies away from, but it's less noticeable because the older show as a whole is bright and sunny and there's a firm line between the twisted sexualities, repressions, and murderousness of the case and the main trio of mason/drake/street. the new version is visually much much darker, and it spreads the bleakness out throughout the cast in a way that makes the entire show feel anxious; it's a more hard-boiled story in that way.
personally, i prefer the older, stagier style with its poisons and exploding cars and arsons, but binging the 50s version for any extended period of time will also leave you feeling pretty down on humanity. it's a strange sort of phenomenon that this incredibly lurid piece of pulp television gets remembered as a dozy little courtroom drama, as though the first half of every episode isn't a distilled noir potboiler where love is impossible, loyalty a sick joke, and where good people who dare for more are cheerfully ground down and convicted by the same ambitious DA that perry et al. have such a friendly rivalry with.
corrupting the main cast, or at least exposing them to the dangers of their jobs, is a perfectly fine iteration of the concept, though personally i wish they'd drawn more from the actual history of the previous version and had mason be gay and closeted (as opposed to heteromantic bi and closeted, if that is in fact what his "blue slip discharge" from the military is code for) and burger be a dope smoking swinger, but then i'm a sucker for that kind of historical easter egg.

Reasons I am excited for The Eternals
Tumblr media
1. Universal Worldbuilding
Tumblr media
I am a sucker for universal beings, stories on how the universe was made, different sentient races' origin and history, and this film will have all of that.
The Celestials are VITAL to the history of Earth in the comics. This film will surely focus on their creation capabilities in terms of the Eternals and Deviants, but the Celestials do so much more. Their tampering in the comics eventually leads to the manifestation of mutants, as well as explains why some people can be blasted with radiation and survive, such as Bruce Banner or The Fantastic Four, while most die. The Celestials are hugely important on a cosmic scale but their experiments are vital to not just the titular characters, but also the existence of normal heroes like Steve Rogers as well as mutants, which this film may set groundwork for.
Kevin Fiege has also stated that this film will explore the origins of the universe itself, which is so exciting.
2. A Historical Reinterpretation
Tumblr media
I am a history major in college, history is my jam. And I must say, the fact that this film will explore history in fun ways is exciting. I know it won't be accurate, that isn't why I'm going. I'm going because it has exciting reinterpretation of ancient beings.
I view stories and religions of the past through the context that this isn't what really happened, it's people trying to find meaning in the world, and seeing what their world informs these stories to be. I don't believe that Gilgamesh or Athena or Icarus are real (same with the Bible but that isn't going to be explored in this film), but they are so important to history because it gets to the heart of what a people believed. I know Gilgamesh in the film won't be like the historical character, but I'm so thrilled for him because it's getting to the heart of what I love: people trying to explain what they can't, now through the lens of Marvel. This story will blend the ideas that these figures WERE real with the idea that our historical knowledge is interpreting what we didn't know, just with some kick-ass action too.
3. Diversity and Representation
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This section is simple but who cares? I'm excited for these characters because they are (supposed) to be groundbreaking in Disney's canon. Phastos is a gay man who raised a family, and his family has been in trailers. Makkari is the first deaf hero in the MCU, it should have been Clint but hey, that isn't her fault, and we see her using sign language. There also is quite a bit of race diversity amongst the Eternals, at least more than MCU teams have had so far. It's a simple thing and it doesn't mean the movie will be good, but I'm very excited for it!
4. It Just Looks Cool
Tumblr media
The story, the visuals, the powersets and the way they are visualized, it just looks so engaging. This movie aims to do a lot, and with an almost 2 hour and 40 minute runtime, it has the room to. This story just looks incredibly epic, it'll be an odyssey throughout time and the planet, maybe even beyond as Makkari is said to be the scout for other planets.
It is undeniably connected to the MCU, but it is almost entirely new things, we're learning secrets about the MCU that are almost all new, and through the eyes of brand new characters. It has a lot of freedom and I'm so excited to see it

Hey you, its me again!! Panic! at the Disco is amazing, I listened to it a lot in my emo days lol but tbh I'm totally hoe for indie rock!! I love it with my whole being (but I am absolutely sucker for BTS and G-Dragon too, legends). Changing toppics, Whats your favourite book? any recomendations? 🌻
Oh no, don’t get me started I have too many favoritessss.
Okay, the most obvious thing I can answer at least is my favorite genre is just anything fiction. Any and all fiction owns my ass and I can’t get enough of it.
There’s so much world building to be had in that genre and if there’s not world building there’s insane and beautiful character driven plots with character development and change and ooooh I could go on forever I swear lol. Also mystery which kinda go hand in hand with fiction sometimes but oh well 😅
That being said and because I can’t ever choose just one thing, here are my top five favorites:
Winterling by Sarah Prineas- it’s the whole magical shabang and it’s on the shorter side but man it was just a good book to indulge in for fantasy purposes. The world building isn’t the strongest but I’m pretty sure that’s just because this is like the first book to a series? I was never sure. Also, if I’m remembering, it’s a rare one where the main character doesn’t fall in love with anyone. She’s just got friends and it’s kinda nice not to have that romantic subplot all the time.
The Twelfth Enchantment by David Liss- historical fiction. It’s basically magic but in the industrial era in England. It’s a really fun read, though I always end up liking David Liss’s books, we learn about the rules of magic, the politics behind the industrial era of England and it’s just always a mystery, you don’t know what really unfolds next.
The Lying Game by Ruth Ware- this one’s a murder mystery and boiiiii it was good!! Honestly one of my favorite murder mystery books, it unfolded the backstories of the characters in all the right ways, gave a good and realistic development in character relationships and every time it kept you on your toes.
Huntress by Malinda Lo- we’re diving back into the fantasy world but I can’t help it lol. I thought the world building was pretty good, it gave a lot of information without ever making the reader feel sucker punched in the face by it and... it was gay, kinda. The main character was a lesbian and she had a crush on this royal girl, but she knew it would never work out logically so she tried so hard to stop it but she couldn’t help it and they both fell for each other on this journey. Then it came to a close, and reality set in, and they couldn’t end up together. It hurt in such a nice way gahhh. Also I’m pretty sure the main character is supposed to be represented as asian which is so great too because not just white people are in fantasy books people.
The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr- this is historical fiction back in the days of World War 2. It’s got this beautiful dual story line accentuating the differences of what it was like growing up in Germany vs growing up in France. It’s so neat, they capture the history so well, I love the little French girl she’s just precious. It gets confusing at times, because it tends to jump around in time, but it’s really amazing. Especially since the French girl is also blind which brings in a new perspective of things. I’m actually not finished with it yet but it’s really good in my opinion.
Alright, rant over lol. Sorry that took so long, what about you? Any favorite books or authors? Also, because I don’t want to just throw the same question back at you, which one do you like better, narrative works or poetry?
