"kidnapping" Aventurine
The IPC doesn't really know what to do with you, because surely the person who keeps breaking in is supposed to be arrested.
Not only it's pretty much illegal to sneak into Pier Point and make a mess in the Marketing Development Department, but it's also illegal to kidnap one of the Ten Stonehearts, thank you very much.
The problem is, director Aventurine doesn't seem to mind? At least, he doesn't fight back? He always comes back like nothing happened and tells everyone the situation is under control but then it all repeats again after a month or so.
When asked why he doesn't fight back, he smiles mysteriously.
"You think so highly of my abilities? Thanks, I'm flattered~ But sorry to disappoint, I'm not that foolish to think I can overpower a wanted criminal".
A wanted criminal who never even threatened him or anything. They just carry him away like he's a princess.
If you ever see him willingly jumping in their arms, you saw nothing.
Aventurine cherishes every single act of "kidnapping".
He knows he can't stop you from doing it, you insist on it no matter how many times he tells you to stop endangering yourself. You can just arrange normal dates, you know.
But it's still endearing. Your sincere and innocent desire to give him a break from the IPC, to save him. It warms his heart in a way he can't describe.
Subconsciously he even waits for it to happen. It's always a surprise!
You two may have a normal conversation on the phone but suddenly you say "hey, wait a sec, need to do something" and in a few minutes he can here explosions and people panicking.
"Darling, don't tell me-" "Yeah, I'm on the floor, see you soon".
He loves acting dramatic when you "kidnap him".
That one tiktok audio "mx. kidnapper, don't hurt me~" "don't worry, I'm not gonna touch you" "why not :("
When you're safe and away from the IPC, he clings to you and keeps playfully asking what such a scary criminal as yourself would do to him and what can he do for you to let him go.
"Should I beg you, my gorgeous criminal? Kiss you all over?? I'll do anything for you to let me go unharmed~"
Play along for a while, he gets a kick out of it.
He finds it so endearing when you brag about messing with Oswaldo's documents.
"Such a naughty little criminal you are. How should I deal with you, hm?"
The answer is always kisses ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Btw he's sure that Jade and Diamond know what's going on. But you can never be sure with them. As long as they don't get in the way, you both are fine with that.

Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
Working as a secretary at Miller & Son's Construction had its highs and lows. You loved the job. The pay was great, and all the guys treated you impeccably, but there was just one slight problem that, if you were honest with yourself, wasn't really a problem but more of a personal issue.
You were in love with Joel Miller.
At 21, Joel was already shaping up to be a fine businessman, taking on a lot of the work from his father so that Cole Miller and his wife Lucia could take more time for themselves. The youngest Miller brother Tommy was shaping up to be a troublemaker. At 17, he was often out drinking with his friends and getting himself arrested and it had fallen to Joel to bail his little brother out every time.
You were a year younger than Joel but as he always said, years ahead of him on the maturity scale. You had always been an old soul but that hadn't stopped you from developing the biggest schoolgirl crush on Joel the day you had started, two years ago. What had started off as a temporary job before you went off to college became permanent when your mum had gotten sick and your dreams of going to college were dashed.
Her illness took her a year after she had been diagnosed and with no father to speak of, you were left alone in the house you'd grown up in. Alone, with nothing but the photos on your walls for company. That time had been what had brought you and Joel closer together but had also forged your crush into what it was now. Unrequited love.
Or so you thought.
"Sup Pip." Said Joel as he placed a paper coffee cup down beside your keyboard "How's my favourite secretary this mornin'?"
"I'm you're only Secretary Miller." You chuckled as you picked up your cup to take a sip and hummed at the perfect coffee flavour that exploded across your taste buds "Better now you've brought me coffee."
"Always happy to assist Pip." He said with a wink and you prayed your flushing cheeks didn't give away how much his wink affected you.
Pip had been a nickname Joel had affectionately given you around three months after you had started. You had been eating a plum at your desk, not a care in the work and engrossed in the customer email that you were reading that you hadn't noticed that the next bite you had taken had contained the pip. Joel had walked in just in time to witness you choking and, using his first aid training he'd acquired just the week before, had managed to save you from a fruity death.
From that day he had called you pip.
Because you'd almost choked on one.
"Anything I need to know about before I head to the site?" Joel asked, pulling you from the memory of your near-death experience and you shook your head slightly before giving him what you hoped was a bright smile.
"Yes." You replied as you pulled out the list you had compiled for him "A Mr and Mrs Cork have emailed, wanting a quote for an extension and kitchen refit." You stated as you handed him the email with a post it note with their number on top "You have a call with a new cement supplied at 2 and Gloria Mullins called this morning asking that you call her when you get a chance, apparently her boiler is on the fritz again."
"I need to tell that woman one of these days that I'm not a plumber." He chuckled to himself as he took the rest of the notes from you.
"You just need to stop being so nice." You chuckled "You've set their expectations now."
"I think you're probably right." Joel chuckled as he grabbed his own coffee cup and took a large swig "Anything else?"
"There's just one more thing." You said shyly as you smiled awkwardly "I need to duck out a little earlier today."
"Hot date?" Joel asked and you knew he could see you blushing now.
"Actually yeah." You answered as you looked down at your hands, missing the way Joel's expression dropped "Simon asked me to dinner."
"Simon Richards?" He asked and you nodded "Oh, wow. I uh... I didn't realise you were into him." Joel shrugged before taking another sip of coffee to try and settle his nerves.
"Well, he's cute and sweet and it's not like I have guys lining up to ask me out." You replied, your smile almost sad "So I thought I should at least go. See if there's any chemistry there."
"Sure... Of course."
Joel knew his response was cold but he couldn't help it. Learning that you were going on a date just made him want to find the nearest pillow and scream. These feelings he had for you drove him crazy and it didn’t help that all his employees knew how he felt about you too. He’d allowed them to plant false hope when they told him that it was obvious you felt the same way. It was becoming painfully clear now that that wasn’t the case.
He needed to get over you.
You couldn’t help but notice the slight icy tone that had coated Joel’s response to your request and you couldn’t help be feel a little confused by it. You never asked for things. Often worked late to make sure everyone and everything was up to date. You would argue that you were one of his hardest workers so sue you for wanting to let your hair down a little.
It’s not like he felt for you the way you did for him.
“Sure.” He said after a short and awkward pause “Lord knows you deserve an early finish.” He chuffed before gathering his bag, the papers you’d given him and his coffee “And, seeing as I won’t be back today and Friday, I suppose I’ll see you Monday!”
“That you will!”
“Enjoy your date, Pip.” he finished before giving you a friendly wave and then leaving.
“I’ll try to.” you said sadly as you watched him walk away.
...
"You are my hero!" Hailed Gloria as she clapped in delight at Joel's handy work.
"Was an easy fix." Joel shrugged as he waved the older woman off.
"You always talk yourself down." She chuckled, her Jamaican accent coming out thicker with her statement.
"I'm just speaking the truth ma'am."
"How many times do I have to tell you to call me Gloria?" The older woman chuckled and Joel winked as he replied.
"At least once more."
"Auntie G... you home?" Came a voice that Joel didn't recognise and he looked up just as the owner walked into the room he had occupied with Gloria.
"Ah, darlin' this is that fine man Joel I was tellin' you about." Said Gloria as she smiled at her niece.
Joel was instantly aware of the fact he was wearing paint-stained jeans and a t-shirt so worn that he was sure this mysterious girl could see his nipples through it.
"Joel, darlin' this is my niece, Eliza." Gloria stated and Joel quickly rubbed his hands down the front of his jeans before taking the hand that was being held out to him.
"Nice to meet ya' darlin'." He said sweetly as he gave her a shy smile "Was just helpin' Gloria here with her boiler. Darn thing needs replacin' really but-"
"I won't replace something just because it's a little saucy with me sometimes.'
"You won't replace it because poor Joel here keeps fixing it for free." Eliza teased and Joel scratched the back of his neck nervously as he replied.
"Well not completely free." He chuckled "She sends me away with weeks worth of food."
"You're too skinny." Gloria chuffed "No girls gonna want to marry a man with no meat on his bones."
Joel chuckled at the older woman's statement before looking back at Eliza who was grinning at him as she practically fluttered her thick black lashes at him.
"Well, I need to get to that meeting I was talking about." Stated Joel as he coughed nervously.
"Don't forget to pop by later for your food!" Gloria ordered as she watched him collect his tools "I made you my famous jerk chicken with rice... peas on the side." She finished with a wink.
"Why on the side?" Eliza asked and Gloria simply rolled her eyes as she said.
"Boy don't like them mixed in."
Eliza mouthed an 'ooooooh' before watching as Joel started to leave.
"I'll see you later to grab that food."
"Or I could bring it by?" Eliz suggested, "You give me your address and I can swing by and drop it off when you're home."
"Oh that's-"
"Ah, splendid idea." Gloria interrupted, leaving Joel looking like a fish out of water "Don't worry dear, I'll give her your address. Get her to drop it by around 9. You're normally home then, right?"
"Right but-"
"9 it is now you best get going or y'all be late." Said Gloria as she practically herded Joel out the door. Leaving him speechless when he made it back to his truck.
What an earth just happened?
...
The restaurant that Simon had brought you to was nice. Not too fancy but not exactly a dive either. Conversations had been a little awkward at first. You'd not really been on many dates but after being honest with Simon about your lack of dating experiences, he put you at ease and now after one glass of wine and a very large meal, the two of you were chuckling away as subjects came easier to you both.
"So how long have you worked for Mr Miller?" You asked as you sipped at your second glass of wine. Simon had already been at the company when you had started and was a few years older than you and Joel.
"More or less straight outa of high school." He replied as he took a swig of his soft drink "Have always been good with my hands so when Cole put up an advert for an apprentice I marched myself over to his office and waited till he got back to speak to him..."
"Wow." You chuckled around the rim of your glass.
"Guy liked my tenacity. Offered me the job on the spot."
"Well, you know my story so..." You trailed off, smiling sweetly at him as he grinned at you.
"So glad you agreed to come out with me." Simon confessed, his cheeks tinging pink "Been wantin' to ask you out a while but didn't outa respect for Joel, but can only wait so lo-"
"What do you mean, out of respect for Joel?" You asked and Simon's expression took on one of a deer caught in headlights.
"Well... with him being into you and all." Simon clarified and your brows drew together as you shook your head.
"Joel isn't into me." You pushed and Simon grew more uncomfortable with each passing moment.
"He's been crushin' on you more or less from day dot." Your date continued when he saw you needed further clarity "We've always teased him for it but he never made a move so I thought, you know, with him not trying to date you it'd be okay for me to."
You weren't sure what to do with the information you'd just received. For years now you had pushed your feelings down for Joel because you believed he didn't return them. So to learn that he might really put a spammer in the works for you.
The subject moved on after that but the atmosphere wasn't as relaxed. After Simon dropped you home, you allowed what he'd told you to run on repeat in your brain. Keeping you from getting to sleep until late that night. Yet, you came to a decision before you finally drifted off. You were going to go to Joel's in the morning and ask him.
You had to be sure.
...
Joel wasn't surprised when there was a knock at his door at 9 pm sharp. He opened the door to see a beaming Eliza on the other side, her arms full of food containers.
"Shit, come in." Joel said before grabbing a few containers to ease the load. "Let me take some of those."
"Auntie G likes to feed you huh?" She chuckled as she followed Joel into his kitchen.
"I had to buy a second freezer." Joel stated and Eliza barked out a laugh, taking Joel by surprise.
"She's always been a feeder." She chuckled before placing the food down beside where Joel had put the other containers "Think it's a Caribbean thing."
Joel chuckled before turning to face his guest.
"Thank you for dropping this by. You really didn't have to go through all the trouble."
"It's not trouble is I offer." Eliz chuckled and Joel chuckled at her reply.
"Either way... that you for bringing the insane amount of food your aunt,
made me over."
"You are quite welcome." Eliza replied as she placed herself within kissing distance of him "I wanted to see you again anyway."
Joel blushed at her statement. Taken aback by how forward she was then, in what felt like the blink of an eye, she was kissing him. Starting softly and gradually growing hotter as tongues tangled.
"I uh... I feel like I should tell you that I'm kinda getting over someone so I'm not looking for anything serious right now," Joel stated and Eliza chuckled.
"Who said I wanted anything serious either?" She whispered against his lips "I think I can be of great help... assisting you in getting over whoever this person is."
Joel looked into Eliza's eyes a moment, trying to discern her endgame. Then, when he was sure that she was being honest with him he kissed her again. The food is forgotten as clothes are discarded in a breadcrumb trail to his bedroom.
...
You let out a steadying breath before knocking on Joel's door. Your slightly shaky left hand clutching the to-go coffee tray that contained your and Joel's favourite coffees. You chuckled when you heard Joel inside, calling out to wait a moment before suddenly opening the door, looking rather flustered.
"Pip." He said as his expression turned from surprised to confused "What are you doing here?"
"I need to talk to you about something." You replied with a smile "I brought you a coffee. Mind if I come in?"
"Now's not a great time... what was it you wanted to talk about?" He replied nervously, smiling awkwardly as you handed him the coffee.
"It's just about something Simon told me on our date last night." You chuckled "You see he said that you have-"
"Who's this?" Asked a woman that you didn't recognise, dressed in a shirt you assumed was Joel's and nothing else. Her brown skin glowing in the early morning light.
"Oh, I didn't realise you had company." You said awkwardly as you started to take a few steps backwards "I'll um... I'll see you Monday." You choked as you fought to keep your tears at bay, but in doing so you missed the step down and went tumbling onto your backside. Your coffee going all over your arm.
"Shit... Pip, are you okay?" Joel shrieked as he leapt towards you, stopping dead when you held your hand up to stop him...
"Fine... I'm fine."
"That coffee'll be skalding." He said as he took another ginger step towards you "We need to get your arm under some cold water or else it'll blister."
"Please just let me go." You choked, your resolve crumbling under the weight of your sadness and embarrassment "I... I just need to go." You affirmed and Joel nodded, giving you a small smile before stepping back into the threshold of his home "Bye Joel."
The older Miller brother watched with concern etched into his features as you left. Glancing at Eliza who was watching you and looking equally worried.
"You think she's okay?" She asked and all Joel could do was shake his head as he replied.
"I don't know."
...
You spent the rest of the weekend dreading Monday morning. You felt like such a fool going over to Joels to, you had hoped, profess your love but instead, you had fallen ass over tit in front of him and his date and burned yourself in the process. Said injury was now wrapped in gauze and throbbing with each knock and graze of your arm on your desk. You had spent the morning wishing you lived somewhere colder so you could hide your accident.
But alas, it's 100 degrees outside and you were forced to wear a short-sleeved blouse. The air-con once again broke at the most inconvenient moment.
"Morning Pip." Said Joel as he stepped into view, placing your coffee down as he did every morning.
"Morning." You replied, not takimg your eyes off your computer screen.
"How's the arm?" He asked upon seeing the brilliant white bandage wrapped around it.
"Killing me." You answered shortly, still not looking at the man who was desperately trying to pry any form of conversation out of you.
After a long, heavy pause, Joel spoke again. His question finally tearing your eyes away from your monitor.
"Did I do or say something to upset you?" He asked, his signature kicked puppy look making your stomach twist.
"No." You answered simply and he nodded.
"What was it that you wanted to talk to me about?" He asked and your brows drew together "On Saturday... you said you needed to talk to me." He clarified "Said Simon had told you something on your date."
"Doesn't matter now." You bluntly replied before returning to the email you'd been writing before.
"Seemed important then."
"Well, it isn't now." You growled, your tone stopping the conversation dead.
"Okay." He couldn't hide how your aggressive tone wounded him. He didn't understand why you were suddenly so cold towards him. What could he have possibly done?
He opened his mouth to speak, only to be interrupted by Simon as he blasted into the office.
"Morning Boss!" He said chirpily before turning his attention to you "Morning beautiful."
"Morning" you replied with a smile that he returned tenfold.
"Fancy going out with me again on Friday?" He asked and you nodded without hesitation "Great!... see you later beautiful."
You grinned at Simon as he left. Not seeing Joel's crestfallen expression.
Perhaps he did need Eliza.

hello, i wanted to ask your opinions on a few things i've been thinking about for a while now since i always enjoy your takes on ojima
firstly, i wonder if they'll ever go into more detail about ojima's ptsd--it was brought up once in confession game and then never really talked about again (from what i can remember, please do correct me if there was more information somewhere along the line). i'm also curious on whether ojima has ptsd or c-ptsd specifically, since c-ptsd is developed due to long term trauma (which we know ojima has experienced since the abuse he endured lasted 12 years) whereas ptsd is caused by a singular event. monomoko says 'post traumatic stress disorder' instead of 'complex post traumatic stress disorder' in confession game when stating ojima's secret which is why i'm pondering this. sorry if this seems like kind of a strange thing to focus on but i was just thinking.
i've also seen people speculate that this chapter's motive will be based on paranoia, seeing as someone (likely the staff) planted the drugs in hiroaki's room and the tamba death threat note. this makes me a bit worried, cause if this is the case then there's a very high chance that they'll try to trigger ojima's ptsd; which may lead to him feeling alert/on edge (hypervigilance or hyperarousal--i believe these are two different things when it comes to ptsd but they do share some similarities). i do hope im talking about these topics in a respectful way though, since im not the most educated on ptsd
another thing that i think about is ojima's relationship with his mother. we know that his father and uncle hurt him immensely, but we don't actually know how his mother acted towards him. we know that both his mother and father were arrested and ken says that both parents were abusing their children in the chapter 4 investigation while he's reading the student profiles, but we don't know exactly how she abused them (i think it was mentioned somewhere that shigeo beat ojima and his brothers). i'm curious on how ojima feels about his mother--i think he feels a similar way to her as he does his father, but i could be wrong.
sorry for the massive essay but i really like ojima and his character is really interesting haha
Saw this massive essay in my asks and squealed in joy. I absolutely love reading and adding onto ojimanalysis you do not have to apologise give me more whenever you feel like it I love to yap.
Ojima’s ptsd is also something I think about a lot because it hasn’t really been explored in the story so far and was only mentioned in his confession game secret and nowhere else but I do find it a really interesting topic. And yeah as you said I do believe it’s very likely Ojima more specifically has complex ptsd instead of regular ptsd. I feel like the reason why in confession game it only said ptsd is that cptsd isn’t currently recognised as an offical diagnosis in the DSM-5, so from what we know the confession game secrets are taken from their student profiles. It would have records on Ojima’s therapy sessions in which he would’ve been diagnosed, and again as cptsd is a relatively new diagnosis he would’ve officially been registered as having ptsd. Kind of how as well maladaptive daydreaming isn’t officially recognised as a mental illness but it’s mentioned in the secret logs from psychological screening from the doctors, even if it’s not officially recognised. Although cptsd is an officially registered diagnosis in the ICD-11, even with current standards today it can be hard to get diagnosed, especially since Ojima dropped out of therapy so many times.
Ojima definitely does fit the criteria for cptsd to form. Essentially to recap the main differences in how they form is regular ptsd typically forms from short term trauma or a singular traumatic experience. Cptsd on the other hand is formed by any sort of long term trauma, especially within childhood, typically when the victim has little control and is unable to escape. And fits the symptoms of regular ptsd along with additional symptoms. And with how Ojima was abused in multiple different ways for almost his entire life he would definitely fit this part of the criteria.
Even with some of the stuff we’ve seen of Ojima he does fit the criteria of the symptoms both of regular ptsd and the complex variant. He constantly shuts down stuff relating to his trauma and shows severe emotional distress when any stuff about his childhood or family (excluding his brothers) is bought up. As well in [Young Forever] when he says “I just want to stop being scared…” when on the topic of his past.
He also fits the additional symptoms associated with cptsd from what I’ve seen. Such as irritability and angry outbursts. Not outwardly showing too much positive emotion and generally being more emotionally muted as well as dissociation. Another big symptom of cptsd is a negative sense of self such as feeling shame, worthlessness and failure. [Bruise] definitely highlights a lot of these symptoms when it comes to Ojima talking about his experiences. He makes comments on feeling small all the time, “infected” as he puts it, not knowing how to feel okay or strong again, having lost everything and not knowing anything about what to do. And as well how Ojima feels envious/admiration of Hayashi and stuttering on how he doesn’t know how she can just do that and not being able to feel strong. So I feel this episode highlights a lot of those additional symptoms of negative sense of self.
Forming and maintaining strong and meaningful relationships is also a symptom with cptsd. Within the killing game we definitely know that he’s formed a very close bond with Hiroaki, and even though they have a lot of hiccups Ojima always tries to get them back together. Although despite this, Hiroaki is really the only person Ojima has a close bond with within the killing game. He does try to be friendly with the others but doesn’t go out of his way to make friends. And within his outside life the only close connections he has is his older brothers, and we know that even with them being the closet people to him he still has a lot of trouble opening up and letting them help them. So I do definitely feel he fits this category as well.
With all of this I’m very sure Ojima specifically has cptsd, and it probably wasn’t specified as it’s hard to diagnose. But he fits all of the symptoms of both regular ptsd and the complex variant as well as long term trauma to make me feel confident on this. Might’ve yapped about this a lot as it’s something I’m super interested in as has done a lot of research with to understand Ojima’s character as it’s so interesting. And yeah I definitely hope they go into more detail surrounding his condition as we do see the symptoms as I bought up, but since it was an important statement in the series I really want to learn more about how Ojima deals with it. Especially with how he’s in a tough spot when it comes to his mental health that he was very adamant about shutting down having anxiety and the fact that the ptsd was mentioned in confession game along with the abusive means it’s a very sensitive topic for him. His student profile became important in trial 4 and I don’t think they’re just gonna leave that plot line up in the air so I hope we’ll get more info about Ojima’s condition in this chapter.
So about the motive, staffside has confirmed that all the stuff going on is not related to the motives. It also wouldn’t be on of the doctors as knowing what goes on there they would’ve been found out immediately and promptly executed, so it’s definitely one of the students who’s causing this chaos. But this is something to take into consideration as it’s likely that the person who planted the drugs in Hiroaki’s room also sent the death threat to Tamba, so since they’ve done it twice they very well might strike again. In my opinion I don’t think they’ll try to trigger Ojima’s ptsd if they do target him. Something like that would be similar to how Okazaki was triggering Wada by locking him in small spaces and stuff and since the culprit doesn’t want to be caught by going to measures such as typing the note I feel that’d be too risky.
But if Ojima is targeted I do think it’s much more likely they’ll involve his student profile in some way. As like I said it became important in the previous trial and there was some stuff bought up about it but never expanded upon so it might come back as a plot point. And Ojima was incredibly distressed over Hasegawa reading a bit of his student profile so they would definitely be aware that could be damaging to him. Although in order to do that they’d have to steal the student profile from Hayashi’s room which would be very hard to do. So I don’t know if there are gonna be other instances like what we’ve seen but if Ojima is going to get targeted it’s likely someone’s gonna try and leak his profile, but we don’t know enough about the situation to properly guess what’s gonna happen next or if he’s even gonna be involved.
With Ojima’s mother, I feel like it’s most likely she was emotionally and physically abusive just like his father, as well as not caring about any of the other abuse that was going on and likely participating in the gaslighting as Ojima had nowhere to go as a child, hence why he developed maladaptive daydreaming. And yes as you said in [Purple] it’s said that Shigeo beat his kids as from what Hiroaki was talking about the situation, and like I said Ojima’s mother was in prison for the same reasons it’s likely she also participated in that. We don’t know too much about her but in an ask Von confirmed that Ojima’s mother is in prison for the same reason as his father. And as well Hasegawa did directly say that in canon. Also in [Tech Support] Ojima did say that he doesn’t like that side of his family very much and his good family are his brothers, so it’s definitely seems he doesn’t like his mother along with the rest of the adults of his family.

Ronin and Nya Incorrect Quotes
Ronin and Nya jokes since I loved this duo. They give me uncle/niece vibes. Also, I’m upsetty spaghetti that the later seasons hardly had him interact with Nya. So this is just sort of self indulgent.
Ronin: (shatters a window and climbs through it) Ronin: (turns around and helps Nya through it) Breaking and entering is wrong Nya. Nya: Okay.
Nya: Thank you for not saying "I told you so." Ronin: When you’re as right as I am, you don’t have to say it.
(I like to imagine this next one was before Ronin admitted he cared)
Ronin: Something’s off. Nya: Maybe you’ve finally developed human emotions and feel bad for hurting people. Ronin: No, but that’s funny.
Ronin: You're ignoring all your problems. Nya: I know. Ronin: You also know it's an unhealthy coping mechanism? Nya: I'm ignoring that fact as well. Ronin:
Nya: Ronin? You just drove through a stop sign without stopping. Ronin: I'll stop twice on the way back.
Ronin: Nya, my old friend! Nya: I think you tried to arrest me at some point. Ronin: That was obviously just my way of getting to know you even better.
Ronin: You are, of course, wondering why it is I have brought you here tonight. Nya: Actually, Ronin, after all these years, I just sort of go with it.
Ronin: Nya, where’s your report card? Nya: My friends stole it from me at school, so now I don’t have it anymore. Ronin: Do you think I’m stupid enough to believe that lie? Nya: What lie? Ronin: That you have friends.
Nya: Ronin, I need some advice. Ronin: You need advice from ME? Nya: Yeah, frightening, isn't it?
Ronin: Why is it so hard for you to trust me?! Nya: ... Ronin: Oh, right. The criminal record.
Ronin: Do dragons fart fire? Nya: I don't know. Ronin: I thought you were supposed to be a ninja.
Nya: Hey, aren’t you Ronin? Ronin: You a cop? Nya: No. Ronin: Then yes, I am.
Ronin: I got an idea! Nya: Does it involve breaking the law? Ronin: By now don’t you think that’s a given? Nya: I was just trying to be optimistic. Ronin: Don’t bother.
Ronin: Well, I'm very sorry to hear about your mother. Nya: Mmm, we aren't really that close. Ronin: Oh, good.
Nya: You know, Ronin, when you generalize, you tell general... lies. Ronin: ... Ronin: Are you trying to teach me moral lessons through puns.
Ronin: Am I going to far? Nya: No, no, no. You went too far about 7 hours ago. Now you’re going to prison.

SxF Mission 84
(Beware of spoilers)
Oh woooooowwwwwwwwww!!!
Wheeler is really one capable spy!!!
Totally love him, Endo!!!
He can easily defeat 3 WISE agents!
Turning the table when it seems like he was already arrested
Tumblr media
Using a small knife to nullified gun threats
Tumblr media
And not falling for Twilight's tricks, even beat him down!!
Tumblr media
Whoah....
Yea I know Twilight is already injured. But Wheeler really is a league of his own
With that kind of stamina, agility, skills, and adaptable analysis accuracy, are we sure he is not triple agent? That he's actually part of Garden?? Because I don't think SSS can have an agent of this caliber 🤣🤣🤣🤣 (sorry SSS).
Anyway, the chapter end with unhinged Fiona.
Tumblr media
After unhinged Melinda back then, now we have unhinged Fiona. Endo sure loves his female characters, eh?? (And I love Endo for that 🥰)
Now the questions are, what is the reason for Fiona's rage? Is it:
1. A simple fangirl getting angry because her idol is hurt? Which is, tbh, rather meh. I really hope Endo use this narrative to develop Fiona's character. Which make possible reason no.2 is more interesting. That is...
2. Fiona's ideal or perfect Twilight (in her fantasy) is being broken to dust. She has to accept a bitter truth that at the end, Twilight is just another human and that's he is not invincible. So she better stop putting him on pedestal, and worship him. It is about time she surpass her mentor.
"Ambitious Fiona" is still a far more interesting characterization rather than "crazy fangirl with crazy dreams Fiona".
3. Fiona that has realized that Twilight is just mere human, now change her target to Wheeler. She has to kill this man (but Wheeler survive) and thus begin the cat and mouse game between the two. (What? Fiona and Wheeler? Don't you guys see it in that panel? How Wheeler flirt with Fiona by mocking her incapability? Fiona-Wheeler--> Feeler? 🤣🤣🤣 lol, I'm joking. Or maybe not 👀)
4. Fiona and Yuri first meet! She is upset cause Yuri is getting beaten down! (Ok, this is just my YuriIona impossible wish 🤣)
Ahem, what? Twilight is destinied to be with Yor. So let's make harem for Fiona instead.
Ok ok.
Angsty thought now.
What will happen when Yor heard the news that both of her boys has now been hurt and hospitalized? They might tell her that both got in a "totally happen in different place" car accident. But Yor herself is not a stranger to martial arts. She would definitelly recognize the wounds on Loid's and Yuri's body as a result from fighting. She will be devastated for sure. But her reaction can be:
1. She blame herself, and then start to do her night job harder. Kill harder. Clean the place harder.
2. She connects the dots and realized that Loid and Yuri has fight the other. She might be very upset at both of them. Yor herself might be not thinking about the boy's secret identity, but this will lead Yuri to realize who Loid really is.
Either way, this arc is getting more and more interesting!!!
I can't wait to read more, Endo! 🥰🥰

Sorry I haven't been too active! Been a bit sad recently, but I finally have a new computer! And for my return? Lucille and Victor ship lore.. well, an abridged version at least! (I'm currently planning a much more in depth post about the beautiful, toxic mess they call love..)
In the beginning, their relationship was mostly Lucille being extremely annoyed with Victor's persistent affection towards her. They would show up unannounced at the houses she was actively robbing, and visit her in prison whenever she was arrested, sending her flowers and love letters all the time. Although it was annoying, Lucille soon realized how useful Victor was. They often gave her blueprints for buildings and businesses she planned to steal from, helped her evade Springfield PD, always paid for her bail, and offered their apartment as a place for her to stay and hide. She'd often give them small amounts of feigned affection in response, mostly to make them do whatever she wanted. (which was unnecessary because Victor would do anything for her anyways because they're so in love with her). Victor understood that most of their interactions were purely transactional, (at least in Lucille’s eyes), but they enjoyed the kisses and sweet talk nonetheless. As time went on, Lucille became somewhat fond of them. Because of their intense devotion and near worship of her, she started to feel more comfortable when around them. They were weird, yes, very clingy and overbearing, but they offered her acceptance that she didn’t really ever feel from anyone else before. She stopped her pretend-love and opted to just be her more apathetic, withdrawn self. She allowed them to tag along with her whenever she was out a lot more, and stayed in their apartment with them for longer periods of time. It felt good to have someone fawn over her and adore her honestly without any desire to change or question her way of life. They became a sort of safe haven for her to feel like a person. They became very physically intimate with each other and had sex often, Victor being one of the few people that were able to satisfy her needs. Soon enough Lucille started to develop genuine feelings for Victor, realizing she cared for their well being much more than she had wanted to. Although she was still cold and kept a certain distance between them, her interactions with Victor communicated a clear sense of genuine warmth and concern in her own kind of rude, backhanded way. She showed them real physical intimacy and allowed them to be as affectionate and loving as they wished towards her. Although she can and still does get annoyed with them and their freakish behavior quite often, and won’t hesitate to tell them to knock it off.

Sorry for the follow up ask, but I was wondering what you would think would happen when Ga On finds out Yo Han is alive for sure. It would probably be emotional of course, but would Yo Han even want Ga On's help knowing this situation is dangerous? Would Ga On let that stop him, if not for himself then for Elijah, or because he would have to do not-so-great things to be able to help Yo Han? And on that note, would he tell Elijah? Because Yo Han definitely wouldn't want him to, underestimating how much Elijah cares about him and not wanting to put her in danger or further rock the boat of her proverbial mental state. Even if Ga On agrees to keep it a secret, could he manage it or would it slip out in his unnatural happiness and excitement? And when (or if) the situation settles and Ga On realizes Yo Han can't stay in Korea as a dead/wanted man, would he leave with them? Or would he stay as Soo Hyun's friend (because he probably doesn't have a lot of other connections in this situation), especially after all the favours he's asked of her for Yo Han to even get the chance of leaving Korea?
Because I really want her to be more developed as an individual and think she has a lot of potential, would Soo Hyun grow as a cop and a person after having to reckon with all the corruption she probably is exposed to and reality-checked on through Ga On as they navigate this new mystery? How would that change her life plan or how she sees herself in respect to justice, morality, and her ability to do good? Like how she may realize that she hadn't actually helped some of the people she thought she had when her position as a cop forcibly aligned her with a corrupt system, and her involvement typically stopped at an arrest.
Your response inspired me so much that I immediately had to get these thoughts out, though of course feel free not to response to all or even any of them.
The way you understand and explore these characters is really amazing, and I love how you interact with ideas and possible situations in ways I never could have imagined.
No worries! I totally understand getting lost in a story and its possibilities — just look at the monster also known as Who Holds the Devil x'D
For context, here's the first ask.
I think that Ga On would immediately want to help Yo Han once he finds out that he's alive for real — regardless if Yo Han wants him to or not — and Ga On wouldn't tell Elijah about it. Which would be difficult for him to keep from her, no doubt, but he'd stick to it with incredible dedication and stubbornness because a) he knows that's what Yo Han would want, b) it spares Elijah the agony of worrying (even if thinking Yo Han is dead is of course painful, too, but, like you say — her mental state is already fragile), and c) gives him more room to do what's necessary.
Like, sure, Elijah might be able to help, but Ga On would have to fend off her questions and focus on keeping her safe half of the time, since she'd want to rush in and help Yo Han, too. So while it's a bit cruel — and Elijah is going to be very angry when she eventually finds out — Ga On would do it without regrets. Because just like he made the choice to lie to Elijah about the fire, he does it because he thinks it's what's best for her. And, to some degree, I think I'd agree with him? It's cruel to keep her in the dark, yes, but it's definitely easier to just approach her after Yo Han has been saved and spare her days, weeks, and/or months of agony.
As for what Ga On would do once it's all over, I think that depends a little on how it's resolved? And what the situation was, exactly. But I think he'd lean towards going with Yo Han and Elijah, at least on a sort of "I'm just going to stay with them for a couple of weeks and make sure they get settled properly." So it might not be permanent — or at least not intended to be permanent — but he'd probably end up staying a lot longer than he says he will x'D
Which would make him feel guilty considering that he left Soo Hyun behind. But, in many ways, I think they would need that distance? Because, considering the turn their relationship is going to take, they'll both need some time to figure out who they are without the other.
Which brings me to a thing I realise I forgot to mention in the other ask, which is that I think this should be a story told from Soo Hyun's perspective. Because I agree that she deserves the development the drama deprived her of (simply because they knew she was going to die, it feels like) and that's most easily achieved from her POV. If the story was told by her, it would be easier to follow her growth as she works through her feelings and the conflicts that begin to arise when she's faced with how willfully blind she's been.
So she'd start out pretty similar to how she is in the drama but, slowly but surely, she won't be able to hold on to that any longer. Partly because she, too, has to try and deal with Professor Min's betrayal and her own feelings regarding the state of their country and the corruptiong within it. And, on top of that, Ga On telling her that she's wrong about him. And, for once, she can tell that he means it. It's not just him being stupid and self-critical — he's being honest when he tells her that he's not as good and perfect as she wants him to be. He can't be that. He's tried for years but the only thing that achieved was making him feel suffocated.
Which is definitely going to be difficult for her to hear. But it's also not one-sided — they will also have to deal with the fact that Ga On did the same to her, putting her on a pedestal and turning her into the end-all-be-all of his entire existence. And she wasn't equipped to handle that without putting too much pressure on herself. She gave up everything for Ga On at the detriment of her own happiness.
(And I guess one can question if Ga On isn't just replacing Yo Han with Soo Hyun in that regard, considering how much he fixates on Yo Han. But I'd argue that Mr. Abyss is much better at handling that kind of pressure because he has no shame whatsoever — if Ga On wants Yo Han to become the centre of his universe, he'll happily oblige. And while Yo Han will also wonder if he's good enough for Ga On, he wouldn't feel guilty about it the way Soo Hyun does. Yo Han is too honest. He'd try to be as good as he can be, sure, but also warn Ga On not to feel disappointed if Yo Han doesn't follow his expectations. And then it's up to Ga On to decide if he still wants to stay, as opposed to Soo Hyun who just kept trying to do better and kept giving more and more of herself, hoping to make up for her "shortcomings." This is one of the reasons why I think Yo Han is a more well-balanced partner for Ga On)
But I digress.
Soo Hyun's development would be put to the test when the time comes for her to say goodbye to Ga On. Again, not permanently, but by that point she must know why Ga On wants to go with Yo Han and Elijah rather than stay with Soo Hyun, and she has to let him. Whether or not she's fallen out of love with Ga On depends a little on how long the whole story takes, I'd say, but, regardless, it would be hard for her.
But I also think she'd do it — for Ga On's sake, if nothing else.
Because, hopefully, by then Soo Hyun would realise what I mentioned earlier, that they both need time away from each other to deal with all the new revelations. Not just in terms of their relationship, but also the state of their country. And while Ga On wants to deal with it by leaving and, hopefully, come back refreshed and try to make a difference, Soo Hyun would choose to stay and work through her feelings of guilt and helplessness one case at a time. She knows the system is corrupt but she can do better. She can still try to make a change, be it by helping one person at a time.
Because, deep down, both Soo Hyun and Ga On have such a strong desire to help people that I can't see Soo Hyun ever giving up on being a cop. She'd have to recalibrate and figure out how to go about things in a more constructive, productive way, but she'd get there, I think. If nothing else because she has her chief who used to work with Yo Han and, I mean, once Ga On comes back? And has Yo Han on speed dial?
They'll figure something out, I'm sure.
And while Soo Hyun might still be determined to stick to the law as often as possible, I think she, too, can eventually start bending it a little when necessary. Because in a dystopian world such as theirs, you can't really expect the law to work. Some rules must be broken.
Though murder would be a hard no, of course.
(Also, not going to lie, I'm cackling at the thought of all of them joining forces at the end like a mismatched little Scooby Gang. Imagine the possibilities. Soo Hyun and Yo Han would barely tolerate each other — because old habits die hard — but they'd try to work around it for Ga On's sake. Because Ga On is determined to save the world and neither of them can say no to him so what else can they do? They're stuck with each other.
And, eventually, they'll grow to respect each other and maybe even like each other a little but they would never admit it because they have a dynamic and an established jargon at that point and they're going to stick to it. There are traditions to uphold.
Ga On thinks they're idiots but lets them be, very pleased that they're finally getting along. Sort of.)
So yeah!
I think the focus of a story like this should be Soo Hyun. Especially since it would add a bit of mystery as she's trying to figure out why Ga On is so obsessed with Yo Han. Like, how long can she stay in denial, trying to write it off as loyalty to a former boss? And what will she do when she can no longer quiet that insistent voice telling her that Ga On's feelings for Yo Han might be deeper than she's allowed herself to believe?
Like, she can see the look on Ga On's face when he talks about Yo Han and she doesn't recognise it. And she's not sure if she wants to know what it means. But, eventually, it becomes too obvious for her to keep lying to herself. And then the next question arises: does Ga On realise that he's in love with Yo Han?
I think it would be fascinating to watch her try to navigate that.
Anyhow! I'm glad I can be of service! I tend to approach ideas in a very instinctive way, much like I do my writing. Very often, it just feels like I'm walking down an already paved path somehow, rather than building it as a I go (which is what it's like for some people, from what I gather). It's a little difficult to explain, but there's usually very little thinking required? I just... say what seems reasonable x'D
As always, my thoughts and interpretations are just my opinion, though. I try my best to give an accurate portrayal of the characters, but everything is subjective. It's okay to disagree with me, is what I'm saying. While I try my best to stay true to the characters, I can still be wrong. Or change my mind. So just... keep that in mind, I guess?
Thank you for sharing your ideas and please take care! 💜

previous may december anon, yeah i have seen it! it was so insanely good and i think you’d like it. theres a scene w charles melton that reminds me of the end of mysterious skins lol. also yeah its based on a really horrifying true story and the screenplay incorporates aspects of the actual events in super interesting ways
Hi love sorry for taking forever to watch the movie and reply to this but, god, what an incredible film
(spoilers under cut)
I love the way the characters are written, Gracie especially of course, I'm always saying we need more depictions of female groomers in fiction and this one was just perfectly scripted. Her unwillingness to think about her own traumatic past and yet how calculating she was in managing everything about her relationship with young Joe, how easily she could get away with it as a white woman in perpetual victimhood, how angry and punishing she got in that awful scene where he asks her if maybe he was too young...
So many incredible scenes. Everything with Joe and his children broke my heart completely. The way he speaks, his mannerisms, it's such a great portrayal of the arrested development trauma can impart - reminds me of that saying where rape victims will always feel how old they were when they were raped, except Joe's being forced to live as an eternal 13 year old, caught in this web that Gracie has built around them.
Elizabeth was a fascinating character as well! I need a few more rewatches to figure out what to make of her. I saw memes about how Gracie is BPD but Elizabeth is NPD, whatever I don't care about those terms, but Elizabeth is a wonderfully dark character in her own right. Her need for attention from the high school boys, her insistence that Joe be played by a "sexy" actor, her requests for repeated scenes shot with him... so much going on there. And loved the Persona vibes as well with her sort of becoming the same person as Gracie. Truly an epic battle of female groomers.
The scene with Joe that reminds you of Mysterious Skin, was it the scene where he's in the bleachers at graduation? Or the one where he finally confronts Gracie? I was thinking about this ask while watching both of those scenes.
I'm waiting for the post-movie hangover to fade so I can feel up to reading about the real story. Feels a bit much right now. But yes, thank you for the recommendation - I'm glad I've finally seen it, it's already one of my new favorites of the 2020s!

hey i kinda just wanted to lyk that i really appreciate your potrayal of all the boys (esp tweek bc i also lived w my grandmother for a time) as someone who’s struggling heavily w sh/ed🩶🩶🩶 it makes me feel so seen honestly. is it ok if you could share some craig n tweek headcanons? :)
!
#1 thank you, I'm glad you like it lol #2 Ayy fellow grandma liver, love finding my people who also lived with their grandma for usually terrible reasons (I say this sarcastically, I hope that you and thatsituation have gotten better). #3 I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling right now, I get it completely, I'm right there with ya. If you ever need someone to talk to, my PM's are always open.
#4 Yes I can share some with you! Feel free to send another ask if you have specific questions or headcanons you were curious about. I am also answering for hc's revolving around them together, if you wanted individual headcanons, let me know.
They've been goin (mostly) strong for 8 years straight. There were some slight bumps when Tweek's parents were arrested in 7th grade, and he had to not only come to terms with bein drugged, but also a rather long detox and rehabilitation. It's not that Craig wasn't there for him, he really did try to be, but it was more that Tweek was extremely unstable and lost trust in just about everyone, and his paranoia amplified significantly since. Once Tweek was at a more calm and stable state, they were able to pick up where they left off, only this time, with a few more 'quirks'. Craig currently works as a pizza delivery driver, and has a tendency to let Tweek come along with him on his shift (which has Tweek also spending a lot of time to do fuck all in the car while Craig fulfills duties in the store). There's not too many times that they are apart due to Tweek's paranoia of everyone but Craig, also fearing that something bad will happen to Craig if he's not there. They're always at each other's houses, and don't mind the lack of separation. I've mentioned before that Tweak Bros. was reopened by other family members, and while Tweek doesn't work in-store, he does bake and drop off the items, which is how he makes a living. I am blanking right now, but they also both like to make fun of eachothers hair. Tweek can't cut his hair for shit n always makes it a choppy mess, all while starting to have white/greying due to the emotional aftermath of his parents arrest. And Craig is already developing a bald spot before he's even 20.

this 80s romcom lighting outside is hysterical oh my land
"wanna see the restaurant?"
"there are about 10 things in here that could kill you" 11, counting Syd
and among all this chaos he has one pertinent question:
"why didn't you call me?!" "i should have called you!"
this is going age like milk when syd sees who else is here!
syd was right last episode that carmy should have called her; carmy's right this episode that syd should have called him they're great at knowing they're a partnership. right now, they're not sure what that actually means, however, and it's causing massive friction, miscommunication, and stress
wow claire great time to introduce yourself there. like a bucket of cold water. she didn't really need to is the weird thing? nat was already talking to her, already greeted her? most people would have been like mm let me take a step back, maybe even come back later. but not claire! no she strides in like the elephant in the room and does a dance
oh ho. syd's face when claire says her name. that's a whole look
"this is my friend, claire" most honest he's been about this whole arrested development situationship
"sorry to interrupt, you all seem really busy" mm. no kidding.
"i'm sydney, it's really nice to meet you, i'm also sorry that you're here" SYD I LOVE YOU
she explains what she means and all but like. what a choice of dialogue, huh? and carmy's face. holy eff this is amazing
"interesting" oh richie. and nat's face when he says that -- the Wheels are Turning. direct comparison to his "ooooh" from last ep.
also i do love carmy's noticeably softer with Richie here. he knows richie really is just trying to help, and -- more than that -- knows that nothing else is gonna get done tonight
OH. INCHRESTING.
he tells everyone great job and to go home -- syd's rolled eyes here are a Pleasure -- and then when syd does that? carmy's reaction?
"what?" "i'm saying good night!"
very reminiscent of carmy's "what are you doing" when syd's quitting in S1E7. hmm i wonder why there's a bit of betrayal there.
this. this is beautiful. and he watches her go, too. beautiful direction, dialogue, etc etc
richie and nat are having similar problems to syd and richie last season. looking like we're gonna have a similar blow up. nat please keep the knives away from richie's ass, he's already a cheek down
the camera pan and hold on "carm/syd menu review" and then back to carmy and claire? i think that's the least subtle thing in the show, and we've seen richie's behavior + syd's temper almost literally bite him in the ass
"we're very fast" the subtlety is just...any more subtle and we'd have neon lights going. this is enjoyable because holy crap the telegraphing is Blatant
also this is some of the worst flirting i've ever seen. we're back to the total lack of chemistry and the two of them talking like 8th graders.
"i did that." "i know you did, and now you have to go" i'm still amazed that this is all text? none of this is implied? the writers are normally a little more subtle, so like...this is on purpose.
and the predictable kiss! you knew it was gonna happen, and they don't care. carmy going in with the same hand thing claire did earlier? either i can see the future or they're flashing the cliche, high-school nature of relationship with big flashing signs
and i can't see the future.
as a final note? i'm just gonna say. carmy is inexperienced, etc etc, yaddah yaddah. his actor on the other hand, is very much not. well done there sir.

some of your posts actually got me thinking about these questions! i'm very curious how people feel about this sort of stuff, since my own fandom opinions are relatively mild and it got me wondering how other people's experiences compare...
so how about #'s 2 (for stony), #9 and #27 (other than frostshield??😉)
Thank you for the ask (and for creating the game)! Lol, I'm glad me and my inability to keep an opinion to myself was a part of the inspo <3 And sorry for the long wait!!!
2) What's your biggest stony pet peeve?
BIGGEST? Oh man, I'm not sure...Teenification of Tony Stark. He's written so...infantile and emotionally weak (I love vulnerability, but my word choice of him being written as weak is my gripe) in many Stony fics. It genuinely gets on my last nerve. He's damn near 40 in AV1. And he only gets older. And sure, maybe there's some arrested development there, but he isn't a damn child. He knows this. And actually conducts himself well enough in canon (in a way that matches his issues) but it's the fanon portrayal I don't like.
WAIT...I think I have something that's popular for the ship itself. Not very fan of the lengths that misunderstandings go for Steve and Tony...Like, I understand they aren't great at communication, but sometimes it gets to the point where I'm like, "It's passed dense and shot straight into pure asshole territory". I know a lot of people write like this because of CACW, but hot take, I don't think CW was so much of a communication or misunderstandings problem. I'll elaborate on this in a separate post, maybe. But the way misunderstandings are drawn out with seemingly no reason gets on my nerves, but it really depends. I can love misunderstandings, but it can't be something that's contrived for drama's sake.
Oh! Another one is in AUs where Steve was still Captain America, and Tony is still Iron Man, and Howard was still lovesick after Steve died and Tony knew all about Steve as a child....and then the AU has Steve undercover or something and Tony doesn't recognize Steve's face. LOL. This sounds specific, but this exact set up has happened enough to where it bothers me. Like, it's kind of funny though, how annoyed I get over it lmao.
9) What's something that bugs you in fanfiction that you encounter often but isn't necessarily a dealbreaker for you as a reader?
I have a lot of not-dealbreakers. Primarily because if I were to strictly stick to my vision of every possible portrayal, I'd have like 3 fics to read. I'm picky in theory, not so much in practice because I'm also extremely greedy. I'll give one each for Stucky and Stony.
Stucky: That Steve crashed the Valkyrie because he was so sad about Bucky dying. I talk a little about how much I generally dislike this trope here. I think it's a huge disservice to this character, I will never take it seriously, and I will never write it. But, it's not a dealbreaker as long as it's not repeatedly more than....let's say 3 times in a fic. Looking back, I already gave this answer, so an additional one - Bucky being community dick and then getting upset that Steve doesn't realize that Bucky wants him and the tone of the fic also supporting that Bucky has a right to be mad lol. It's a weirdly common narrative point in a lot of fics and I just don't care for it. It's actually one of the reasons I tend to stay away from pre-CATFA fics. This trope also happens in Stony too, now that I'm thinking about it. What's up with that?
Stony: I (unsurprisingly) have a few to choose from, but I'll say - when it's written like Steve was horrifically out of line or the aggressor in AV1. It's super common (from throwaway lines to paragraphs about how Steve was an asshole) and there is a fine line that this has to walk for me not to dip. Usually, it's a couple of line about it, which I can ignore.
27) What's something that you think [insert fandom/pairing] doesn't have nearly enough of that you're starving for?
I have an embarrassing amount of rare pairs that I ship and I've been itching for a chance to let them out (/ = romantic or sexual, & = platonic).
Steve & Wanda. Oh my goodness, I am absolutely starving for more fics that show their growing bond from AOU to CACW. I would eat it up. Even in AUs, honestly. I said in another ask that I dislike kidfics, but guess what I'm outlining right now involving kid!Wanda...I just think there is something to explore there with Steve's care towards Wanda in canon. I feel like he understands her, to an extent, and anything he doesn't understand, he tries to sympathize with. He reaches out to her and that's so, so important to me. Because I adore Wanda. So much.
Rumlow/Steve. I want to clarify, not so much as a romance pairing (though I have read a couple like that), but more so as a one-sided creepfest on Rumlow's end. Something about him feeling an erotized violence/hatred towards Steve is so delicious to me. In my mind, it's not even love/hate - it's obsession. Maybe even coupled with a childhood admiration morphing into a disturbed/twisted fixation on Steve. I think this Rumlow likes to see Steve hurt. I also think he hates to be kept away from him. He's not deluded enough to think that Steve loves him back, he in fact, probably loves how much Steve hates him after the Hydra reveal. Yum.
Carol & Steve. Nothing much to say here, but I'm sure it's not too surprising. Captain Marvel is my 2nd most-watched MCU movie after CATFA. And I think their stories and journeys and experiences are so, so amazingly similar that I cannot resist the temptation of wanting them to be in every scene together. The squeal I let out when she first met Steve probably broke a few records.
Can I get a little more obscure? I have Steve-ships with characters who aren't in the MCU. Here's a speedrun, no elaboration:
Din Djarin (The Mandalorian)/Steve Rogers
Kushina (Naruto) & Steve Rogers
Sesshomaru (Inuyasha) /Steve Rogers
Ginko (Mushishi) & Steve Rogers
Epsilon (Pluto) & Steve Rogers
Kurenai/Steve/Asuma (Naruto).
Izaya Orihara (Durarara) & Steve....or Izaya/Steve...Izaya would hate him so much haha.

Hello, I love your blog! Not sure if you've answered this question before (sorry if you have) but I was wondering if there's any movies or tv shows that when you watched the first time, you thought weren't good? But after watching again, you ended up thinking were good?
Thanks! And oh, no, that question hasn't been asked I don't think although I've discussed that here and there.
I didn't really like The Wolf of Wall Street when I first watched it but when I approached it as a comedy the second time around, it completely changed the experience and I've rewatched it at least three times and now I have a soft spot in my heart for it because it has some truly hilarious and absurd lines and scenarios, like Leo yelling I'M A MASTER DIVER, DO YOU HEAR ME? I'M A MASTER DIVER, NO ONE IS GOING TO DIE in a yacht in a middle of a storm that claimed the helicopter sent to rescue them while also DEMANDING narcotics is insanely funny
Tumblr media
I hated Arrested Development when it was on the air. I thought it was pretentious and idiotic and then I came back to it a few years later and was like so, this is comedic brilliance.
Tumblr media
I'm not really sure if Succession counts because it's not like I watched the entire show and hated it then went back to it then loved it, but during season 2, anons had been telling me to watch it, and I tried to watch it, I watched the first four episodes of season 1 and hated it, I couldn't get through it, it made me feel violent. I'm not sure what made me go back but I did and pushed through it and it's one of my favourite shows.
Tumblr media
The first time I watched Playtime! it was for one of my classes in undergrad and I was just dumbfounded but to be fair, it was, like, 10 AM and I was hungover so I didn't really get it, I kind of thought it was a waste of time and then I returned to it in another cinema class a couple of years later and was like oh, no, this is great. I get it now.
Tumblr media
Bojack Horseman is also sort of becoming that show for me. I binged it recently and I can't say I hated it but I felt validated in why I hadn't watched it for so long because I was like I've seen this show, I've seen Bojack countless times, Bojack is Tony Soprano, Bojack is Don Draper, Bojack is any and every cishet middle aged white male character who is self-destructive as well as just destructive going through some kind of existential crisis, I'm BORED, and its way of storytelling isn't something I find myself invested in, because I find it very message-focused as opposed to character-focused despite there being well drawn out characters but it's slowly become a show that I go back to and put it on in the background and fall asleep to, I have a weird relationship with it so I'm kind of counting it
Tumblr media
I didn't like the first season of Fleabag but I loved the second and I've rewatched the show at least twice and I appreciate season 1 more and more each time

(sorry if there are any mistakes, English isn't my first language)
I started to watch OG She-Ra and god I'm SO mad about what they did to Sea Hawk in spop.
Like he was such an interesting character. OG Sea Hawk was a pirate who was working for the Horde because it gave him and his crew freedom, and otherwise they would be arrested. In "The Sea Hawk" episode one of the pirates takes Adora on the ship to place she needed to get to and she has an encounter with Sea Hawk. He says that he works only for himself and freedom is the most important thing and while he sells equipment for the Horde it can't be taken away from him, Adora calls him a traitor of his own people and says that no one on the planet will be free until Hordak is defeated and Sea Hawk promises to think about her words, later Adora is seen on the ship and Sea Hawk sells her out to Catra, but later he comes to save her and promises to join the rebellion. It was such an interesting conflict and it was handled so well in ONE episode! Why the hell they made him just a dumb guy who sets boats on fire in the reboot? I understand that he is no longer a love interest, but they could've give him at least some depth.
another thing to add to the list, i guess. spop especially did all its male characters dirty.
bow was just there, despite being a main character. he had no depth to his personality, no character arc, not even any relevance to the plot. he doesn't do much fighting, he knows a bit about tech but entrapta is still vastly more knowledgeable and useful than him. he's just the token black friend.
i don't even have to go into detail about kyle. there was a joke going around that kyle was actually he-man, which 1. makes no sense and 2. just furthers the idea of "haha let's make all the men pathetic jokes, girl power!"
seahawk is just a blubbering idiot who, again, does nothing useful for the plot and just annoys everyone. he feels like a one-note character but for some reason, is featured in multiple episodes, even though he never gets any character development or interesting arcs.
hordak was probably the best male character but even he was just wasted potential. like i said in an earlier post, he's portrayed as way too weak and easily defeated. i'm not just talking about his physical strength, i can understand that he was disabled. but he doesn't even seem that smart? his key personality traits are angry™, insecure, and in love with entrapta.
so yeah, spop creators really need to understand that putting down men isn't the way to promote girl power. you can have strong and well-written female AND male characters, without reducing either of them to an annoying comic relief or a damsel in distress.

i'm really curious why you dislike the comics? /genq /nm
ooooh the dreaded question. i can get really passionate about this (i care too much) so i'm going to be as brief and simple as i can. i'm aware many people enjoy the comics and that's fine. /gen you do you. like i said; i care too much
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: we have no clue how much time or dedication was given to the comics by valve; the poor writing isn't necessarily the fault of the writers and i have no personal beef with them! with that said, old man yells at cloud /ref under read more/keep reading.
the two main gripes i have with the comics are lack of planning and tone problems.
as i already said, the lack of planning- and therefore the poor writing- does not mean the comic team was incompetent (the art is quite good a lot of the time, actually), but this does mean it severely hurts the quality of the comics themselves. it's clear they aren't sure where they're taking this (as evident by whatever the fuck is going on with helen) and what the story is even supposed to mean. the tone goes hand in hand with the poor planning; the comics aren't sure whether they want to be purely comical and action-focused or a DARK comedy; having serious moments and themes in the story.
in the end, the serious moments come off as either manipulative (iykyk. i am not getting angry about this for 40 minutes again) or as if they're being made fun of (cough cough sniper).
they also struggle to really build up those moments, so sometimes it feels as if they just came out of nowhere. it's really jarring.
there's also just. not a lot of conflict between the main cast?? there isn't a lot of pressure put on pauling from the mercs via questioning her actions, etc. (we only slightly get this from spy. but like once) (i get that it's to show how much trust they have in her but, really? not a single thing?) (this could build up to like. a "grand betrayal" sort of thing but yknow. they didnt think about the build up to anything)
this is why i think making it JUST the RED team really hurts the story- they already have set dynamics and don't need to develop or sort through any conflicts they have with one another. medic only has conflict with sniper of all people. MEDIC. who went to join another team which was actively hunting his previous one.
the comics introduce conflict and new dynamics by straight up making up new characters?? as much as i love zhanna- she was primarily put into the story just to be soldier's love interest and have a fun dynamic with him.... i'm so sorry miss.
they could've done that with demo btw?? since demo and soldier are supposed to be friends?? unless actually the team differences DO matter (which the comics do not make clear at all, engie is randomly blue while the rest are red. okay. why? wouldn't you like to know.) so red soldier and red demo dont bounce off of eachother as much as blu soldier and red demo do.
i'm not formatting this at all but remember the poor planning? ahem. sniper timeline. why did you make him barely 30. i will fucking kill you he was always clearly meant to be, look, and sound like an old man. its in his concept art its in how he talks. raghghgh
they keep giving themselves problems by adding new characters cause then the main fucking mercs who people adore get no time for themselves (demo, pyro, scout, engie) they're just kinda......there. it sucks. but it's what we got, i guess. just how canon the comics are is questionable- but i don't care if they are.
it's free real estate i'm doing my own thing!!!!!!!!!!! fuck around find out!!!!! be gay do crime!!!!!!! *gets arrested by valve for tampering with copyrighted material*
anyways, after all that negativity; shoutout to the only stuff i enjoyed from the comics: pauling, heavy, the art. goob byeeeeeeee

I would love to hear some about silver platters if you are still talking about wips!!
Yes!! Still talking about wips for sure!
Like I mentioned, Silver Platters is a Hunger Games : The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes canon divergence AU where instead of being cast out to become a Peacekeeper, Sejanus' punishment is instead being kept in the Capitol under basically house arrest and heavy surveillance when he is allowed out (aka to attend day classes at the University). I just love Sejanus and wanted to see how he might develop/react as his best friend, Coriolanus, more overtly becomes a part--and eventually the president--of the system he so desperately hates.
The fic starts basically right after Coriolanus' return from District 12 (with the implication that everything went about the same there, with the exception of Sejanus' death, of course) and is set to span all the way up through the end of Mockingjay. I don't plan to go into every single detail, but I definitely am trying to hit the highlights and large turning points I think that Sejanus would have, if he had lived to adulthood.
At first, as Sejanus still has hope and trust in his best friend Coryo, he regularly pushes for him to enact systemic change surrounding the games, but then there are always reasons for why "now isn't the time to act, but it will be soon." Eventually, Sejanus will have to contend with how many lies Snow has been feeding him and that spurs him on to be a part of the rebellion directly. Of course, I'm also planning on some bits on how I think Sejanus would fit into/view Katniss' journey as well as the end of the Hunger Games
I have the first two chapters posted on AO3 after writing them last year and after rereading them, I still really enjoy what I wrote! I had to take a break because I had started my work busy season in January and was only supposed to last for ~4months... and then work kicked my ass for basically all the way through October (and now it's starting back up again, of course) so I didn't have the mental energy to write. However, my motivation is still so strong for this project and I'm so excited!! I have vague chapter outlines in my notes and I'm hoping that after reading the new book this spring, I'll have even more creative juices flowing for it
I'll give a brief snippet of stuff I've written for chapter 3 below. This hasn't been proofed or edited obviously, so forgive the clunk! Also tw for mentions of addiction (morphling)
The first time Sejanus takes morphling outside the walls of his bedroom, it’s due to the fates aligning in the worst possible way. He’s running late. It had been getting harder and harder for him to pull himself out of bed each morning. He took morphling most nights, the dosage varying depending on just how loud his thoughts were. He typically consumed anywhere from one to three drops in a night, but last night--what would have been Marcus’ nineteenth birthday--had seen five. He only has the time to dress himself and not much more before he’s launching himself down the stairs in the hope that he won’t be late to his first lecture. He’s not sure how much leeway his punishment allows him in mistakes like these, but he’s not willing to test the boundaries. Plus, he doesn’t want to make Coryo late for his internship with Dr. Gaul. That would certainly have consequences for his best friend.  As he rounds the final turn of the stairwell, he runs headfirst into one of the building’s workers. Neither of them fall, thankfully, but in the collision the man fumbles the package he had been holding. “I’m sorry,” Sejanus says reflexively. He’s already scooped down to pick up the small box and tries to return it to the avox. The man waves him off and refuses it. Then, at what must be Sejanus’ obvious confusion, he taps the package label. Oh. The package is for him. Sejanus knows what it is. He only ever orders one thing these days, after all. He wants to run it back up to the apartment, hide it away in his bathroom behind his other toiletries, but he also knows he doesn’t have the time. The box is just big enough to not fit into his bag as is. Logically he could just carry it with him; it’s not heavy in the slightest. However, he knows that’s not an option. Not really. If Sejanus walks out those doors with a package, Coryo is certainly going to ask him about it. And if Coryo asks him about it, he doesn’t have anything to give him but the horrible, shameful truth. He doesn’t know why he’s so ashamed of Coryo knowing that he’s still using morphling, even though it’s no longer for the twinge in his knee. Coryo had taken that morphling from his bathroom all those months ago for the same reasons, he’s pretty sure. Though, no more bottles had gone missing since their first reunion, so Coryo was either doing much much smaller doses than Sejanus, or he had only needed the one bottle. Either way, he had summarily conquered what still consumed Sejanus every night. The thought of Coryo knowing just how much he used, it’s not something that can become a reality.
