Why is it that every time something seems to finally be getting better, it all falls apart all over again?

The friend-of-a-friend who took us in back in August failed to take into account the fact that the complex would not want us here. We were told to apply, we did, we were denied. We were told to appeal, we did, we were denied again. The last denial just came less than a week ago.

Now we have to be out by 1/17 or the friend who tried to help us will be evicted, too. We have nowhere to go. I spent half of yesterday calling around trying to get help, and all I really got was more numbers to call and a lot of "sorry, can't help you."

I don't know what to do.
