I originally wanted to talk about Eun Soohyun and Kwon Seonyul separately, but they are so intertwined with each other that I can't really speak about one without mentioning the other.

They both are sooo messed up but in the best ways

(for me, obviously, not them)

(Flawless plan. Absolutely no chance of it backfiring)

Seonyul knows that his father is guilty. He knows that what he did was objectively horrible. But that was his father, the man who loved him so much. And then the person who took his father away from him told everyone that they would do it again if they could.

Seonyul's hatred towards Soohyun is not entirely logical, and he is aware of it. But hate is a strong enough emotion that kept him going. Through his father's death. Through the mistreatment by others for the crime of being related to a murderer. Through his mother's accident.

He glomed onto Soohyun and his revenge, like a person drowning at sea would at a live wire, the thing that is actively killing him but also the only support that was available to him.

So, then he meets Soohyun. Seonyul knew all that he could about her because he took the phrase "know your enemy" a little bit too literally. Everything is moving smoothly according to that plan that he'd spend years to perfect.

Except...

Soohyun was not what he expected.

Soohyun is empty. She's had her revenge, and there are no regrets in her heart, but it also brought no satisfaction, no resolution, nothing. Her son is still dead.

Despite all that, years later she somehow keeps going, for the sake of her family, whom she doesn't want to inflict the excruciating pain upon, the same that she's been subjected to already. She's not perfect, but she's kind, composed, compassionate and so, so smart.

So, when Seonyul meets her, really meets her, he's confused and angry. How dare you, my father's killer, be a good person? How dare you arrive again and again in front of me, asking questions and looking concerned?

How dare you have the same scars as me?

Even other people around him notice how much they resonate with each other. It's becoming harder and harder to fuel the hatred in Seonyul's heart. She's burned his world, so it would only be fair for him to do the same to her in return, no? His revenge is going well, so he should be happy.

Right?...

But why does he feel so hollow?

But Soohyun is also not the kind of person that would just stand and take the blow silently. What I absolutely love about her is that it's clear why she is revered by so many people around her. She's wicked smart and has a monstrous amount of self-control. So, when everything around her starts crumbling down, she is not rushing into the traps that are laid out for her, instead she quietly, calmly, starts her own investigation.

They should be enemies, they must destroy each other, but neither is willing to truly hurt the other.

Because at the end of the day, they are the only people in this world who get each other

having a child has taught me that every toddler is completely justified in their frustrations and tantrums because learning how to do something you have literally never encountered or heard of before is insane. and being expected to be completely calm in the face of this constant barrage of overwhelming information is doubly insane.

i got charlie a sticker activity book and it occurred to me i have to TEACH someone how to unpeel stickers. it's SKILL that requires DEXTERITY and FINE MOTOR ABILITY. i thought it was obvious that you have to curl the page a little bit to create a break in the cut so the sticker comes up.

obviously a fucking BABY wouldn't know that because they have no background experience to inform their thought process. OBVIOUSLY. and OBVIOUSLY the LITERAL BABY wouldn't get it right the first few times. it would OBVIOUSLY take practice. lots of it.

i hate this feeling. it's so obvious. why are children treated so badly when they're learning everything for the first fucking time. why do people treat children so horribly and expect so much. they're brand new. why didn't i get the same grace i give to my child? why did no one have patience for me? why, when it's this easy?

Ok this is something I noticed before but the implications didn't really fully click until my... third watch? Plus 2nd manga read. Geez. But anyways

At the end of Greed Island, the trio decide to take one card for each of them out of the game. Bisky takes Blue Planet, as was her original goal, but Gon and Killua's cards are the Paladin's Necklace and a transformed Accompany, respectively.

Reflecting their bond, their cards require the presence of the other to be truly useful. The Accompany cannot be taken as is. The Paladin's Necklace does nothing on its own. All of this is so that Gon can meet Ging, which Killua puts his card towards instead of something specifically for him alone (prioritizing Gon as usual), but it's also an Accompany, which is the only means in which they can stay together - their mutual want.

But it goes deeper than that. I wondered about the Accompany being transformed specifically into Patch of Shore before when it could've been any restricted slot card, but there is so much else going on at the end of the arc that my thoughts basically stopped at "well it's an odd card with no clear use" and "it's a card the protagonists spent a good deal of time working towards getting, so it's a recognizable callback to the audience" but oh man.

Gon probably would've been the one to transform that card. His card is the Paladin's Necklace, and that makes Killua's the Accompany. Disguising it as Patch of Shore, where Killua injured his hands, where Gon said that it has to be him, not only makes that card unequivocally Killua's, but also makes me think that this is some quiet way of Gon to show his appreciation for him.

The Accompany is his idea, after all, which says "I want you with me". Transforming it into Patch of Shore though, says "I don’t want to/I can’t do this without you."

this has less to do with rp and more to do with general online spaces, but if you find yourself in a group that keeps 'receipts', if you are surrounded by people with loads of screenshots, who lurk and keep tabs on people they don't like, who will constantly publicly mock and joke either vaguely or overtly about people they've had beef with (even people that are annoying, done weird or even problematic stuff but they keep bringing it back up) you are in a toxic environment. even if they seem to have the moral high ground, still be cautious. take it from someone who has been around the block a few times, drama follows circles like that and you'll end up anxious and always worried about ending up on their bad side. 9 times out of 10 they're making fun of everyone behind the scenes. people who have your best interest at heart will always care more about supporting you and lifting each other up than keeping track of every slight and finding excuses to be scornful.

My goal for this piece, in addition to playing with patterns and textures and adding some Naruto references, was to add as many death flags as possible.

The idea of having Izuna in a fireman's coat is obviously not from me. I've always like the idea of Uchihas in fire resistant clothes, and the opportunity for a thick texture alongside a reversible double pattern is very appealing. I used the image of the second reference as a base, with skulls on one side and stylized lightning patterns on the other (visible inside the sleeves and collar). Both were common immagery of firemen coats.

The actual skull pattern is taken from the third reference. I'd seen this one before and before even learning anything abt it it was too beautiful to pass up. Those white and navy gradients are absolutely delightful and I enjoyed using my gel pens for them very much.... This particular type of imagery with skulls and bones in a field is called Nozarashi, inspired by Buddhist representation of death and transience.

The lightning pattern itself is a reference to water and lightning dragons :) Like Tobirama's iconic jutsu, it's one of the hints of what's abt to happen to our little guy. The scabbard is also decorated with dragon motifs for the same reason.

The background pattern is taken from the first reference, another fireman's coat with an illustration of Raijin, the thunder god. He is often representated with drums decorated with tomoes. It works nicely as a standard looking sharingan illustration, with a reference to Tobirama's hiraishingiris with the thunder imagery, like the thunder patterns inside the coat.

If you're interested in this I recommend the book linked in the second reference! It is entirely about skeleton motifs in japanese clothing of the early 20th century.

But hear me out. Along with these posts, could we consider? Maybe? Some constructive criticism? People should draw them more accurate.

But how should they do it? Realism art? It's a foreign concept to me. I try and it absolutely fucking sucks and i'd love to be a part of this fandom showing that the characters are real people but
