one of the things that really bothers me about modern franchises, and in particular over the last 5 years or so, is their refusal to commit. what i mean here when i say this is that it's not uncommon for a major franchise to make a decision, whether about the plot or the characters, that should have had huge, world-changing consequences... and then just never address that again or worse, immediately go back and undo it. and i'm gonna pick on star wars and the mcu here because those are the two big franchises i'm into at the moment (and i think they're kind of the worst at this), but i don't want you to walk away from this thinking that this is solely a disney thing. i've seen this happen with game of thrones and supernatural and plenty of other non-disney franchises. spoilers ahead, you've been warned:
in ant-man & the wasp quantumania, scott and hope make the life-altering decision to stay behind in the quantum realm and defeat kang instead of going through the portal to return to their world. this should have been a huge meta decision for the mcu, and when i first saw it in theaters, my immediate thought was wow, what is this going to mean for the mcu going forward? are we going to get a movie/miniseries about scott and hope helping to rebuild the quantum realm? how are cassie, janet, and hank going to react to the losses of their loved ones (in some cases, for the second time)? is cassie going to become the "first" young avenger because she has to take her father's place among the team lineup (and i only say first because as of this moment, none of the other young avengers introduced to the franchise are official avengers yet)? except nope, because less than 2 minutes later, cassie had fixed the portal that had broken way back at the beginning of the movie and brought scott and hope back.
and it felt like such a cheat. i was so disappointed in that theater, not as someone who was invested in these characters on a personal level (because yay, cassie gets her dad back!), but as someone who has spent years investing themselves in the story of the mcu. what was the point of wasting screentime on scott and hope accepting their new lives in the quantum realm if it was just going to immediately be undone? the entire scene could have been cut to scott and hope making it back bare seconds before the portal closed and it would have had the same emotional impact. there was nothing added by making scott and hope (and us) think that there was no way back only to rip the rug out from under us and go "gotcha! you really thought we were gonna give this movie a sad ending? haha! you're so dumb!"
and this isn't the first time the mcu has done this. one of the biggest complaints about endgame was the decision to set it five years in the future with no consideration for how that would actually change the setting of the mcu. characters were brought back to the exact place they disappeared from with no consideration for how things might have changed in the interim five years (like planes that weren't in the air anymore, buildings no longer standing, even just something as simple as a chair being unoccupied). and then the mcu didn't even really have the courage to address how this would have shaped the world other than a few jokes and making the bad guys in the falcon and the winter soldier people who cared about how the world had screwed them over during the blip.
and things like this happen over and over and over again. the accords are put into place in civil war, but by the time we get to she-hulk, they're gone with no explanation because, as best as i can tell, the writers didn't want to have to deal with the worldbuilding that went into the accords. gamora is killed in infinity war, but heaven forbid quill not have an emotional investment in a film he appears for maybe 10 minutes in so now she's back in endgame. steve got to go live in the past with his ex-girlfriend (which is in itself a refusal to commit after the mcu both gave her a different husband and had the woman herself tell him to move on) but we need to establish that messing with timelines is bad because that's what the entire next phase hinges on so actually his ending was predestined and it's only everyone else who can't change time. whoever took this entire town and also wanda hostage and forced them to live out a sitcom fantasy is bad and needs to be stopped but wait, it's actually wanda and she can't be the bad guy yet, we need her for doctor strange 2, so actually everyone's going to defend her now and say that no one else could ever possibly understand her grief. thor has decided to accept responsibility as king of asgard, but we can't use him for any more movies if he's stuck in asgard, so actually he's decided to pass it on to someone whose entire leadership capability is developed offscreen. i could list more examples but this is making me angry, so let's move on to star wars instead.
with star wars, i look at first the oft-quoted meme, "somehow palpatine has returned." yeah, i shouldn't really need to go into detail on how that counts as a refusal to commit but. the last jedi was a study in how johnson refused to commit to anything that abrams had laid down in the force awakens, but rise of skywalker was almost like abrams had looked at the franchise and said "screw you for taking it away from me, i'm going to come up with the most bullshit stuff just to spite you for doing that in the first place. and i'm going to start by undoing the most important plot point of the first trilogy: the emperor dies." and yeah, disney's kind of tried to salvage this by dropping hints into the bad batch and the mandalorian about cloning, but that only really works if you're watching the franchise chronologically and not considering that both of those series came out after rise of skywalker.
and then there's the mandalorian, my sweet summer child, who is, in my opinion, the worst at backtracking their plot points. i'm not entirely convinced that any of the higher ups for this show really knew what they were doing when they started working on it and i'm not convinced that they know what they're doing now. yeah, there's the tie-in to the last season of clone wars, but the mandalorian has managed to walk back pretty much every single major plot point it's had. din is this legendary warrior who can't be beat, but no one will watch this show if he defeats everyone too early, so he's constantly getting beat up (tbf, sometimes some of the fights he loses makes sense like the krayt dragon and the mudhorn, but a lot of them don't. at all). moff gideon is dead, no wait no he's not, now he's imprisoned, no wait no he's not, now he's definitely dead, you can totally believe us this time guys. grogu can use the force and must be placed with the jedi, but wait, the only person still actively teaching the way of the jedi is luke and all of his students will be brutally murdered ten years from now, and we can't have that, everyone will be mad at us for killing off such a cute character and no one will buy baby yoda dolls (and also we have to set up luke's character degradation from hopeful, believes-in-love cinnamon roll to "i'm going to kill my nephew") so in between seasons let's have grogu decide to go back to din (and don't even get me started on how frustrating it is that a casual mandalorian watcher also had to watch book of boba fett to understand why grogu is back). din has the darksaber now which makes him king of mandalore, that's totally going to be important and what the entire series has been building up to, right? wrong! he might have spent the first two seasons making connections, learning about the world outside his sheltered upbringing, and demonstrating the various qualities that would make for a good leader, but the entire third season will be about din realizing that actually he's super unworthy and the darksaber should actually go to someone who... saw an animal in the water.
and it's really, really frustrating as a viewer! because how am i supposed to get invested in any of these plot decisions when they almost always get reversed? why should i care that mj and ned have forgotten peter when ant-man 3 has shown me that they'll remember him the next time they're all on screen together? why should i care that tech is dead when half of the last season of clone wars was about how echo was actually alive? if none of these decisions have any permanence, then where are the emotional stakes? why should i watch your movie if all you're going to tell me is that nothing matters?
#and also i want to make a point that the early mcu did permanent stakes really well#iron man 1 ends with tony announcing that he's iron man and that's something that still resonated years later#the entire second film hinged on that one moment#loki falling into the bifrost is what leads him to the chitauri which is what kickstarted the avengers#steve is woken from the ice and the first organization who presents themselves as someone to trust is shield#which sets up the betrayal he feels in the winter soldier#these moments resonate throughout the first two stages and the decisions the characters made MATTERED#so you can't help but get invested because what if it's the wrong decision???#anyway i'm frustrated with the state of franchises#alle talks#long post

Looking for new writing partners.
☆ Hello, I'm back looking for another writing partner or two ☆
+ Some quick rules first to make sure we're on the same page;
♡ I'm looking to rp with people who are 21+, I'm an adult myself and prefer to write with others who are adults.
♡ 3rd person POV, past or present tense is preferred.
♡ For now, doubling only.
♡ Prefer CC x OC most of the time, but in some cases CC x CC. And in two cases for non-fandom rp's I want OC x OC.
♡ All characters must be 18+, while I'm open to writing smut it overall has to do with darker themes in the story.
♡ Romance is fun, you can choose whatever you want for your story whether it be M x M, F x F, NB x either gender, I'm comfortable with it all. But for my story, I stick with M x F.
♡ I usually write what I feel like without thinking too much about post length, though it's worth mentioning that I don't do rapid-fire or posts every 3+ weeks.
♡ I really love OOC talk, so I'm hoping to reach out to someone social.
♡ Should the rp not be for you anymore let me know instead of just not posting, it happens to us all, muse doesn't last forever. I would really like to be given the chance to thank you for your time and the rp we had together.
♡ Also, I love being invested in my writing partner's plot and OC and I will most likely try to add some input to your story just to feel ever more invested. But please show some interest back, there are far too many who are only interested in their own story and I'm really not the person for you if you don't give a bit in return.
♡ Be willing to exchange writing samples. ♡ Password; tell me your favourite colour.
+ The fandoms;
♡ Star Wars; for this, I'm limited to the movies and series (not the animated ones).
♡ Shadow & Bone; I'm limited to the Netflix series. (Why did they cancel it ;-;)
♡ The Last Kingdom; once more limited to the series. Might pick up the books in the future.
♡ Marvel; The MCU and some of the Disney+ shows.
♡ Rings of Power. But I'm also open to The Hobbit and LotR.
♡ House of the Dragon/Game of Thrones; The HBO series, but I read the books behind Game of Thrones years ago, though I would say that I don't remember that much.
♡ Avatar; the blue aliens, not the benders even if those are pretty cool too.
♡ True Blood; I recently became addicted again.
♡ Sons of Anarchy; gotta love a story in this fandom.
♡ Saltburn; I guess this could also go under non-fandom because I really just liked the whole setting.
♡ Arcane; fully caught up with everything that has come out so far.
I RP over Discord, but feel free to contact me through the DM's here on Tumblr and we can get around to chatting and take it from there. Also, when reaching out, please add some small details about what you want and so on, don't write "wanna rp?".

Effortless Spring Style: Calm Blues
Harvey attended the Disney Upfronts in mid-May looking cute and breezy in this aqua green crochet camp shirt from Target worn with black slacks and a pair of turquoise Dr. Martens loafers.
The loafers are sadly discontinued, though you can sometimes find them secondhand on sites like eBay or Depop. There is also a version of this style available in a much less vibrant blue available via Zappos.
The shirt is still available and comes in sizes up to U.S. men's XXL.
Harvey accessorized with an elegant pearl pendant necklace, possibly the same one he wore to the Garfield movie premiere. Though it's hard to be sure in these photos, it looks very similar to this 18 karat white gold pearl pendant from Tiffany & Co.
Mixing Simplicity & Luxury
Sarah of @taylorswiftstyle (one of the major inspirations for me starting this blog in the first place) often talks about the ways in which Taylor mixes "high" and "low" fashion, pairing expensive designer items with things that are more within an average middle-class person's budget. This is one of the many ways she forges a stronger connection with her fanbase, balancing the aspirational with the accessible.
I believe Harvey does something similar, though perhaps with a slightly different motivation. He has spoken in the past about the lack of size inclusivity in fashion, and how difficult it can be to find nice clothing if you're over a certain size. Luxury and designer fashion are often even less inclusive, and these factors led to Harvey styling himself for red carpets and media events until just a couple of years ago.
He's also talked about his approach to finding pieces he likes by looking in random places, leaning on accessories such as shoes and hats, and not getting attached to only one style or store. He has said he invests in pieces he really likes when he finds them, and wears the things he loves until they fall apart.
These are familiar strategies for those of us who love fashion but don't fit the mainstream fashion world's physical ideal. I've always loved shoes, scarves, hats, and jewelry because it's much easier to go into any store that sells those things and have a reasonable expectation that something will fit me. And when I love an item, I really love it, and wear it until I can't anymore. Truth be told, most of the sewing skills I've learned have just been a desperate attempt to prolong the life of a favorite dress or pair of pants after they begin to show wear and tear.
Though Harvey now has access to stylists and at least one talented designer who's more than happy to dress him for big events (and I'm tapping my watch at the rest of them, why aren't you absolutely begging to get your clothes on this beautiful man?), it's clear he still holds to those tenets that served him well when nobody was styling or dressing him. He will still pair an affordable shirt with a luxury accessory, and look amazing doing so. Because who cares where the items came from if they look good and make you feel good wearing them?
So while I do believe Harvey aims to be a style inspiration to other plus sized people--he has said as much after all--I also believe this grew initially out of his own struggles with having a lack of such style inspirations and icons for himself. This has shaped his relationship to fashion and how he presents himself in that space. There is a dimension of representation and advocacy to his style that grew out of his own frustration with the fashion world's lack of inclusivity.
Affordable Options
While the Target shirt already falls into the realm of affordable, the rest of the outfit might be another story. So I've come up with some options for anyone interested in recreating this look on a budget!
You can find beautiful and affordable pearl pendant necklaces on Etsy. Here are just a few examples!
Genuine Akoya White Pearl Pendant from TADragon, $89.95
Sterling Silver Minimalist Pearl Necklace from MrsQCreation, $19.56 (currently on sale)
Natural Pearl Simple Necklace from BeadHouseCo, $23
These black athletic dress pants from Old Navy are currently on sale for $25. If you're more comfortable with fitting women's pants, these high-waisted OGC chinos also from Old Navy are a great option and on sale for $24.
The turquoise loafers were a bit harder, but these $60 Minnetonka slip-ons from Shoe Station are a decent option if you can't find the Dr. Martens on eBay for a reasonable price.

I wish Star Wars would just... say something. Even just "we are reconcidering the options for season 4". It's weird what's going on with this show (their main show nonetheless), it's like they have been putting it on the back burner since the end of season 2, which they shouldn't do? So much of the casual, and even more dedicated, audience had time to forget about the show in the 3 years wait, and I'm afraid it's already doing the same with the wait for season 4/movie. People just aren't as invested anymore. And it doesn't help that SW doesn't seem any more engaged towards the project either. I know they are, and there's a lot of things going on backstage, but the silence about the show does not convey as such, and it's damaging a lot of people's trust. With the slew of new shows and movies coming in the next 3 years, I'm worried Mando will get drowned in all of it, washed out to just another Disney show in the eyes of the public..
It really doesn't help that confidence in the show faltered after season 3. Such a long wait... just for a story that, truly, made some odd choices. It doesn't mean it was bad, but it wasn't what it could've been, and that has really caused people to lose confidence in the show and the story.
I'll admit, I'm a little scared after seeing what happened with the sequel trilogy in this similar way. The pivoting... I just hope that isn't what's happening here, and that the movie isn't being considered the "safe option" because they're scared to move forward with season 4 and trip themselves up again.
But I have hope, and I always will. This is the same writer who made seasons 1 and 2, which were just incredibly brilliant. I have faith that he can find his voice again and make things right, even if it means we'll always have TBOBF and season 3 to look back on as disappointments.
#yes yes molly is finally coming to terms with her season 3 disappointments...#the mandalorian#you have spoken

Hi, Elvisqueso! I read your response in the lately ask for you AND WOW, YOU NAILED IT!!! I agree 100% with what you said. As a brazilian fan of Pocahontas, I can say with 100% certainty that this idea of 'Pocahontas is a racist movie, it’s a movie that romanticizes colonialism, etc.' has really grown within the Disney fandom here (not that the Pocahontas fandom is big here—counting me, I think there are like... 5 people, lol), but this idea that Pocahontas is a movie 'that glosses over colonization and that it was wrong for Pocahontas to get involved with a white, blond, standard guy and so on...' has started to gain attention here, and that Pocahontas is 'just a Native woman who got charmed by the colonizer who invaded her lands and now is all lovey-dovey with him,' completely ignoring the entire story, development, and message of the movie.
I think nowadays, people’s perspectives are very superficial and ideological. People don’t know how to separate fiction from reality anymore—only when it suits them. I totally agree with the part where you said the justification for all this hate is 'because they’re seeing an interracial couple on screen,' YES! And, as incredible as it may seem, this is what makes me love them and the movie even more—the fact that they are 'in the eye of the storm,' but still, they stay together and are stronger than ever in their love, DESPITE BEING TOTALLY DIFFERENT! The difference in ethnicity, in cultures, all of that is THEIR CHEMISTRY, it’s what makes them perfect as a couple. And, again, we’re talking about FICTION. (Interracial couples are amazing).
I’m not saying that these discussions aren’t valid—they are. But, to throw the whole story, narrative, and everything about the movie in the trash because it goes against your ideas without recognizing all the investment, work, effort, RESEARCH (a lot of research on Disney’s part), is unfair. It’s sad. You recommend Pocahontas, make art, a story, and people see it as something twisted and see you the same way... like, (?), this movie is a work of art, so beautiful... And as you said: at no point is Pocahontas portrayed as a victim, quite the opposite, she is SUPER ahead of her time and a very bold woman, she literally CHANGES John’s perspective, SHE drives the plot, everything revolves around Pocahontas, and at no point is John a jerk to her (well, maybe just a little bit before he learns how to paint with all the colors of the Wind...)
I'm not an expert on the subject, I just watched the movie (more than once) and formed this critique and perspective on my own. In fact, I was one of those people who watched Pocahontas for the first time with that completely distorted view that was spread on the internet about the movie. At first, I THOUGHT their relationship was SUPER PROBLEMATIC, but as I kept watching, I realized it wasn’t quite like that and now I abslutely love them.
That’s what I wanted to say... I really liked that ask and your response, and I wanted to contribute too. Let’s keep being the resistance of the Pocahontas fandom on the internet, LOL.
Hey there!
You're right; it's very difficult to get people to see past the racial dynamics and it's really concerning how that point of view seems to be getting more popular (especially in online spaces). It doesn't help that the usual portrayals of interracial relationships we see on screen are either fetishized or played for laughs.
And oh man is it tough being in such a little fandom. I'm pretty sure I'm the only blog that shows up as "recommended" in any of the fandom tags (not counting the general tag bc it's a minefield). I've been hoping to drum up a little activity around here. It's still pretty dead in terms of new fanworks 😅
But Yes! Let's keep enjoying what we love without guilt or anxiety about what other people think!
#ask#amandiccastuff#thank you for the ask! <3 sorry it took me so long to reply#it's a holiday weekend here and i was doing Family Things#pocahontas (1995)#long post#i'm glad you were able to give the film a good faith chance too#it's such a deeply misunderstood film 😭

What did you have for dinner tonight?: It's only 10 AM, but last night we went to Solaire to watch Miss Saigon and we went with an Asian spread. I got bao, rice paper rolls, and pad thai.
If you were given a million dollars, what would you spend it on? I'd keep a good portion of it as savings and not touch it until I'm like, 65; the rest I would give to my parents.
Have you ever cried in front of your parents over a boyfriend or girlfriend?: Nope.
What does your bedroom smell like right now?: Like coffee, I'm guessing.
Have you ever shaved off your eyebrow before?: I've never done that but I did have trichotillomania growing up so I had phases where I was missing chunks of my eyebrows.
Do you want to have a boy or girl whenever you have kids?: Girl.
Your pregnant with twins: What do you name them?: Definitely not similar names like Kaye and Kate as it would only make me more confused haha.
Describe your outfit.: Only in loungewear today as I'm at home, but last night I had on a dark green halter dress that went down to a bit above my knees. It also had a slit on the left leg side. I wore black heels and a small black shoulder bag as well.
What gigabyte is your memory card?: I haven't had a hard drive since high school, even though I know I really should invest in one.
What brand is your digital camera?: I don't own a digicam but damn if those things aren't seeing a resurgence lately. I might be the only one in my age group left who still doesn't have one.
When was the last time you hung out with your best friend?: Angela came over last month just to hang out and have some heart to hearts here and there.
What is a movie you're waiting to see?: I've been meaning to watch The Iron Claw. It's not all the time that a movie centered around wrestling gets to be produced and becomes critically-acclaimed at that, so I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Who was the last person to cook something for you?: Apart from the crew at Solaire lol, my mom.
Do you ever sit and think what if about something?: Sure, I think it's inevitable to come across those thoughts every now and then.
If so, what is it?: It's always very different. Like what if we're one of those families able to migrate, what if Kimi was still alive, what if I chose to be a journalist...there's a million scenarios with a million possibilities and how actively my mind runs I could be thinking about anything.
What’s on tv right now?: My own TV isn't it but I know my sister is watching some streamer play video games in the living room TV.
Do you ever stop and smell the roses?: Sure, if I remember to.
Where do you download music from?: I listen to music on Spotify but never download cause it'd take up so much storage if I were to download all the albums I like.
How many channels do you have on your tv?: Don't really throw around the word 'channels' anymore, but as for apps we have subscriptions to and regularly use it'd be Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, Prime, Apple TV, and quite recently this local sports channel since it's the only one in the country that airs WWE live.
What are you most scared of?: Getting cancer or dementia. < This, but these circumstances happening to my family. I honestly don't think I'd care as much if it happened to me.
If you were given a chance to bring someone back to life, who would you choose?: No one. If it's their time, it's their time; and I don't want to fuck around with grief.
Do you talk to any of your ex boyfriend/girlfriend?: Nope.
If so, which one?:
What is your mom doing right now?: I think she's on her phone just reliving our Miss Saigon experience last night haha. I'm glad she really enjoyed it! She watched the 2000 Manila tour – it was still Lea Salonga playing Kim - and I call out Lea cause she set such a high standard for Kim; and it made me worried that her Gen X self might end up simply comparing the 2024 show to what she watched 24 years ago.
I was happy and relieved it wasn't the case and she had so much fun. As for me my soft spot was hit all evening knowing that she originally watched with my dad, and now she got to watch the play with her three kids.
Are you currently listening to music?: I'm not.
What is the weather like right now?: I mean it's your typical weather in the Philippines in April. Approaching 40C, humid, uncomfortably and nearly painfully hot.
Do you like new music or older music?: I think it's a good mix.
Do you agree that abortion is wrong?: No.
If you could make a law, what would kind of law would you make?: I just wanted to get rid of e-bikes on highways but the government has already been on that so yay hahaha.
What was the last video game you played?: Mario Kart 8 on the Switch.
What is currently going on in the room you're in right now?: Apart from me taking this, noting.
Do you know where your best friend is?: I'm almost certain she is at home as it is still quite early.
Who was the last person to comment you on Facebook?: Angela, I think.
What is your display picture of on Facebook?: Me posing in front of the Impact Arena in Bangkok a few hours before Yoongi's concert.
Do you ever sit and think about the past?: Just occasionally.
If you could relive any moment in time: what would it be?: Let's go with a recent memory – Wrestlemania Sunday with 200 Cody-crazed fans watching the ref count to three.
Are you a talker or a listener?: Listener.
What is one food you will not eat?: Mango.
Do you eat anything now that you never used to eat?: Curry and wasabi.
Have you ever kissed the same sex?: Yes.
When does school start this year?: Haven't been in school since 2020.
What genre of music do you refuse to listen to?: Country. Which is why it's taking me forever to take on Cowboy Carter hahaha.
Do you ever shout for absolutely no reason?: I don't think so. If I scream it's always for a reason lol.
Have you stuck with your new years resolution?: I don't make em.
Do you need to lose any weight right now?: No. If anything I need to gain some. I was well under 100lbs at my last physical exam and the nurses also told me I had low blood pressure which had to do with my weight, so it might be healthiest to gain a few pounds.
What is something you want right now?: I wish I can just stay at home but alas I've been booked the last few days haha. Saturday - Work event Sunday morning - Wrestlemania Saturday Monday morning - Wrestlemania Sunday Tuesday - Miss Saigon Wednesday - Afternoon out with Bea and Kata Thursday & Friday - Work Saturday - Rest Sunday - Work event
Even then it's still kinda hard to be excited about Saturday because I know it's sandwiched between two busy days anyway.
Do you hate when you see teachers in stores?: I don't hate it but I also don't wish for it to happen.
What always puts a smile on your face?: My dogs.
Where can I find you on a Saturday night?: At home with a cup of coffee.
What is the best thing about Sundays?: The free time - for the most part, at least.
What is your music provider (itunes, windows media player): I just use Spotify.
How many songs do you have?: I don't download songs.
When was the last time you had a period?: Two weeks ago.
Why do you think the sky is blue?: Idk.
If you could change the sky to any color which would you choose?: I wouldn't change it. We get different colors already anyway.
Is there anything wrong with you right now?: I mean I'm running on 2 hours of sleep so I don't super particularly feel my best rn but I think I'll manage.
Do you hate when people stare at you?: It bothers me a little bit, yeah.
What always makes you angry, no matter what?: Toddlers throwing a tantrum.

Sky Broadband and Why I Hate It
now i'm pretty sure that Sky Broadband is only available in the UK and Ireland BUT I got bitchen ass complain about them and I'm gonna write it here. For one, WHY on earth is my sky box and my sky box family (i've got like three) cutting all wifi signals between the hours of 2:45am and 5:45am??? Why is that? I don't care about ECO mode? I care if i can finish my youtube video while I write! And it's a real thing that happens! Me and my sister thought we were going CRAZY because it would just cut at 2:47 specifically, it became like an urban legend in our house.
Friend: Hey, why is the tv buffing so much during our movie?
Me: what time is it?
Friend: um, it's 2:50???
Me: yeah, we're gonna have to, like, cast our movie to the screen from my laptop. Sorry. Do you remember what time stamp we were on?
Friend: ??? what?
It was so weird. And I hate it. And I know it can probably be turned off, I know that. But keep in mind this thing has been haunting my house for weeks and none of us thought to google it; imagine the frustration, the anger, the boiling sadness that i could not finish my youtube video essays or my binge of Desperate Housewives on Disney+.
Another beef I've got with Sky Broadband is the recording/ watching tv shows not on cable. You can search up a tv show and, if it's offered on sky network, then you can watch every single season they've casted in a row. And I started to watch "The Flash" on Sky - I watched it every day after I came home from school, I was tired and eating my sad little mircowaved dinner because my school ends late and I have to take a bus home. So, imagine my surprise, half way through season three, I'm invested in Barry's life despite knowing that this show is about as accurate as the Harley Quinn show, when I see IT'S GONE. IT'S NOT THERE ANYMORE. THEY GOT RID OF IT. This is more of a personal beef than anything but because of that, I felt a deep hatred towards Sky Broadband.
And my third reason for Hating Sky Broadband, is the fact that they are ROBBING my parents! They raised the prices for their months so quickly and they got so high. Now, I don't want to throw around prices online but when my parents first got a sky box, around 2000 I'm pretty sure, the price was (without installment and for one box) it was around 20 euro a month. Not bad. Then the economy crashed in 2008 and prices rised. Sure, whatever, everyones poor now lets do that. But now? Now, in 2024, (without installment but for a family) they are charging my parents OVER 50 EURO A MONTH! That, to me, is a little too much money. I don't care if you give me Netflix and Youtube and fucking Apple Watch or whatever, on my dodgy box that I pay fifteen euro for five years, I can pirate literally anything and if I pay the five euro fee per month for amazon prime i can get a fire stick which will give me all that anyway. It's too much for a world that basically doesn't watch tv anymore. (That's a whole other can of worms that really bothers me as well actually because everyone complains that people these days get their news from TikTok or Youtube but those are the only places that give the full truth). On top of payment for things like Netflix and Amazon Prime and Disney+ (because thats a capitalism nightmare), and the rest of their bills that could be as high as 2000 a month, they have to drop 50+ eurors for something that'll stop working wheneve rit wants and actually has a lot of problems? AND you have to pay more for sports and kids tv and movies? Sure.
SCAM!!!!!
Those are my three reasons, this got a bit political and perchance controversial towards the end but it's my truth. Sky Broadband lowkey sucks and I need the people to know it. During a recession (because thats what we're in) and MULTIPLE wars happening worldwide, this seems very small and insignificant but it's a real bother as well in Ireland and the UK I think. (Not to mention the whole RTE debacle that went down in Ireland not too long ago)
#ireland#Sky broadband#broadband#uk#is this politics?#i mean i talk about the recession#hating#i am a hater#during this day and age fifty euro for tv is ridiculous#tv and film#i'd rather pirate everything#pirating#yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me

Hi I'm Lauren I'm new to this app, I'm just trying to make some friends. Can i be your friend?
Hello! Welcome to the Hellsite! I'd love to be your friend! I'm flattered you seem to think I'm cool enough to consider me friend material! You can call me Giraffe or Anne. Not my real name, but close enough.
I'm pretty new to this place myself, but I've been here long enough to know it is a constant state of beautiful and incomprehensible mayhem. It's fantastic.
Ummmm. Introduction things! I'm a college student who goes to school in the middle of nowhere Mountain West and lives on the East Coast. I don't have a major yet because I don't know what I'm doing and am only pretending I know how to adult. I was a military brat, so I've lived in quite a few places and want to live in more. I have 3 older brothers and a person who could be considered my older sister. I was in the BSA (yes, I'm a girl, they let girls in, they have for a while now) and am a proud Eagle Scout. I'm also aroace and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (commonly shortened to LDS or mormon, but we're not really supposed to do that anymore because it cuts out Jesus from the name, which is kind of the most important part. Everyone on tumblr still uses those though, and it doesn't bother me, so use mormon or LDS or Latter Day Saint or whatever you want).
I like to draw, but I don't think I'm very good at it. I write a lot, but I almost never finish anything, and I post things even less freqently, cuz I'm a coward. I play the cello and the guitar, and I wish I had people who would randomly play bluegrass with me.
I love books, but I haven't had much time to read in the past year. I normally hit 20+ books a year easily, but college is great at murdering your free time. I almost exclusively read YA and middle grade fiction, especially fantasy and sci-fi, but I do branch out every once in a while. Most current book obsession is Percy Jackson, but I have so many super random middle grade novels that I love to death and could ramble about.
I don't enjoy the experience of watching movies, even if I like the movie itself, and thus, I have not seen a lot of movies. The rule is, if it is not an animated Disney film, assume I haven't seen it, and you will be correct about 65% of the time. I am a proud non-viewer of many popular movies, most notably the ENTIRE MCU. I have watched the moon knight TV show, seen some scattered clips from Spiderman: No Way Home, and seen the Spiderverse movies. These are the only marvel properties I have seen, and probably the only ones I intend on seeing.
I like comic books, mostly cuz they're both a lot cooler and a lot sillier than people expect, but I've only read scattered Robin, Batgirl, Spiderman, and Moon Knight comics. I wanna read Squirrel Girl, though. That'd be cool. My favorite Marvel hero is Moon Knight, and my favorite DC hero is Robin. Not Batman, Robin. All the robins, too. Anyone who has been Robin shares the favorite spot. This includes the We Are Robin kids, Stephanie Brown, and Carrie Kelley.
I am obsessed with a number of shows, and the obsessions fade in and out. Currently? I love the Owl House, Gravity Falls, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and Avatar (Legend of Korra and Last Airbender). I'm also obsessed with Miraculous Ladybug, but I have an unfortunate love-hate (mostly hate) relationship with the show that is shared by most of the fandom. Like, almost the whole fandom will tell you not to watch it, it's bad and disappointing, and we wish we weren't too invested to quit.
I think that's mostly it. I'm so glad to have a new friend here! Tell me all about you too, either on your blog or in my askbox. I'm excited to be your friend, Lauren!
#Welcome Lauren!#new friend#welcome to the hellsite#it's chaos but we love it#Giraffe's introduction post I guess?#Hi#my interests#i won't tag fandoms since I don't really discuss them here#books#movies#non movie watcher#kids tv shows#comic books#giraffe's ramblings

Hello! I don't know if you've answered this question before, but what do you think of the Star Wars sequel trilogy as a whole? And what do you think of Reylo in general? Thanks :))
Sorry, I saw this question a few weeks ago ... but since I have nearly 200 unanswered asks ... I avoid my inbox.
Uh, my opinion on the Star Wars Sequels is that they're trash and I hate them with all my soul. There is only 6 movies and if it doesn't have George Lucas's name on it, than it ain't Star Wars.
That being said, yeah, the only reason that I was invested in those movies was Reylo. I bought into Ben and Rey's love story when I hated everything else. But they cocked that up too.
I wrote a few fanfics, tried my hand at writing Star Wars. Some of it got picked up by Lucasfilm - the least said about that the better. But other than that, I've gotten more and more hostile toward Disney!Star Wars as the years go by and I really, really, hate it with a passion now.
I grew up on Star Wars in the dark times of the mid-1990s and watched all of the Star Wars movies on VHS tapes that recorded the movies from HBO in the Early 90s. And they were my favorite movies growing up. When I'm really tired or in the shower, random lines of dialogue from the Original Trilogy will just pop up in my head like Psychobabble.
I was really into the Prequels (I nine when Phantom Menace came out and I was fifteen when Revenge of the Sith came out, So I was peak age for Prequels target audience.) And between them and getting super deep into Lord of the Rings, while also discovering Dune as a 13 year old middle school kid, It all just kind of baptized me into the waters of crippling Geekdom. Which is funny because I also played American Football as a defensive linemen and linebacker. So I was kind of all the things Jock, Geek, and Nerd in school.
So late 90's - Early 2000's is my era of Star Wars and that really where I remain.
I've always been loyal to George Lucas and his vision and I always will be ... even if he doesn't care anymore.
That's just where I'm at.

Every* Fandom I've Been In
Basically just listing off all the fandoms that I have ever been in - at least that I can remember being in. Only real criteria for whether or not I count myself as having been in a fandom is whether I've created/looked up fan-made content for it, felt really invested in aspects of it that are heavily based in fandom (headcanons, ships, stuff like that), or really just fixated on it for what feels like a significant amount of time. Note that I'm not in all of these fandoms anymore, I'm just listing them if I've been in them at some point.

https://www.cbr.com/bucky-barnes-most-significant-mcu-role-thunderbolts/ what do you think of this thunderbolts article?
Thanks Nonnie!
I actually saw that article yesterday and stopped reading halfway when I realised it was purely speculative, so I've gone and read the whole thing again.
He's taking a surprisingly friendly view towards Bucky's morality, which is refreshing to see particularly since chapter 5 of Sentinel of Liberty came out (ugh). I'm not sure I agree with the comment "The film's focus on antiheroes opens up the chance to tell a story that explores Bucky's complex moral character" because what we've seen so far doesn't suggest that his moral character is complicated. I'm going to make a big distinction here that Bucky's character is indeed complex because of his life experience, but Bucky's moral character has never been shown to be complicated because apart from some stupid plot devices, he's always gravitated to making the choice that helps others. Zemo's and Walker's moral characters are complex, because they are neither good nor purely bad, and they are driven both by some deranged idealism as well as an egocentric need to prove themselves.
This person also takes the view that the other antagonists are not as morally good as Bucky. I think it can work. Yelena, Antonia and Ava were all recruited at a young age and either groomed or brainwashed into doing what they did. They are victims, but it is possible that they need some time to get their head around morality and what normal people live like.
But do I see it happening? Not really.
To position Bucky, the reluctant recruit, as a moral contrast to Walker, a product of military indoctrination, is a level of criticism of the military that I cannot see the MCU be willing to commit to.
There are also a couple other reasons I don't think the Thunderbolts will center Bucky. Firstly, there are way too many characters in this movie and all of them have had complex lives. I have very little confidence that the writer can pull it off with nuance. Secondly, from a commercial point of view, it makes more sense to invest in and bolster a new character who can live in the MCU for another 10-15 years. In Disney's eyes, Bucky's already had his run, and I suspect the Thunderbolts will be used to highlight Yelena. Thirdly, regardless of whether it's performative, I think it would be a bad look to center Bucky in a movie that has at least four major female characters.
Fourth...when SOL5 came out, a male commenter said it was the best thing to happen to Bucky because doing something morally reprehensible that went against his long friendship with Steve made him interesting. I suspect this view is not rare amongst male fans (and by extension, writers). They only remember Bucky as Steve's companion, and the most interesting thing about him had been when he went head to head against Steve. They don't see his trauma or his recovery as interesting, they don't see him choosing to be good as interesting because it aligns him back with Steve (or Sam). They want him to be morally "complicated" because goodness isn't interesting anymore, and because irreconcilable moral conflicts between friends is apparently...just friends things (à la Civil War). It didn't help that TFATWS severely nerfed his fighting capabilities which reinforced the impression that if you're morally good, you're boring to watch. Unlike CATWS, where they were still able to make Steve kickass and act morally good.
#this is why bucky being in the thunderbolts has always been a bad sign#and no i don't trust the mcu to handle bucky ever#anti thunderbolts#bucky barnes#asks

If Star Vs. The Forces of Evil came back in the future with a movie or Disney+,how will it will be different in storytelling, lore, drama, characterization, and world building compared to the first four seasons and how would the characters(especially Star,Marco,Moon, and The MHC)finally redeem themselves and learn from their mistakes after Star destroyed the magic and possibly if it comes back in some way?
I've talked about then after s4 came out and i gotta say it again.
I kinda...don't want a continuation, not a movie, not another season or series....none of that. I'll accept a reboot, but i have no desire to see a continuation of any kind from where we left off.
And i say that as a fan of the show.
I didn't participate in the efforts to get the show back for a reason.
Because after s4, it was clear the crew had no idea what they were doing.
They had no plan, made stuff as they went along, and would make terrible writing choices based on the worst kinda fan opinions, and after all of that we ended up in a place where there's really nothing i wanna see in a continuation.
I don't like star//co, their relationship was so poorly handled and their characters became so unlikable why would i want to watch them date or continue?
They'll most likely entirely ignore the horrible stuff star did when destroying magic.
There's no more dimension travel, so a much smaller world.
And because the writers just...make stuff up, why be invested in anything if they can just change things on a dime? I have lists and lists of how many things the show contradicts, things they forgot in earlier seasons that make no sense now.
Just bringing back the magic isn't gonna fix this mess because daron prioritizes the worst kinda things, and doesn't focus on what makes for a good story .
Star vs has so many little things that are really good, but they're not enough to fix the product as a whole, and the show is happy to throw out development when it wants to.
I'm only open to a reboot someday because i know this show has the potential to be good in the right hands, the elements are there for it, but there's nothing for me to really be that invested in anymore in a continuation because i don't feel like i can trust daron to deliver .
She already has made it obvious multiple times she doesn't think the finale was a giant mess, so i don't have faith she'd fix these problems.
Even tom, a character i do love and am invested in, i feel like they could easily ruin on a dime, i only think he was good as he was because some of the team actually cared about him, but even so...he also fell victim to daron forcing him to do things for the sake of what SHE wanted...not because it made sense or fit the story.
only spinoff of this mess i might watch is one with his family, (maybe also eclipsa?) and we never ever see marco or star or janna or any of their faces at ALL. Cause hey, at least they might not make me angry the entire watch.
I say this as a fan, i do NOT want a movie or continuation of the show, and if you want me to like the idea daron or whoever runs it needs to earn my trust back first.
I stick to star aus for a reason.
if it's going to continue from where we left off, it's already starting off on a bad foot in my opinion.
You need to do serious damage control if you're gonna try and make something good from it.

what are disney/pixar/marvel movies deserving of rides (or do any movies “deserve rides”)
Well first there's like the artistic question "which movies would make a really good ride" and then the separate question of "which movies when turned into a ride would really serve our business goals?
Cause like on the artistic side...you're looking for movies that have a moment that when people see they're just begging to experience it. Or perhaps stories that weren't a great fit for the screen, but would be great experiences. Like my ideal scenario is finding an overlooked bit of material that could be worked into something special, new, surprising. Because those to me are the ingredients of what great experiences are made of (Rohde has recently been on a kick talking about exactly why the surprising and unexpected are necessary to experiences, go check it out, it's basically because of how attention works).
But like all those things aren't really why a modern theme park or attraction would chose to use a movie as the basis for a ride. They're looking to increase attendance, generate new trips, and mitigate risk. They're thinking "what's a movie a lot of people like? If we know how many people are fans of that property we can do some math and have a good idea of exactly what impacts we can expect to our attendance and what ROI we can predict on our investment." Parks like that because otherwise you're building a big attraction and you don't actually know if it's something that people will like as much as that big tentpole franchise. It's riskier. Outcomes less certain. There's also exclusivity bit. Generally theme park rights are exclusive, if you have it in your park, no one else has it in their park, therefore another reason to visit yours.
So like to answer the question...there's stuff I'd like to see because I think it would make a great ride that doesn't have a chance in hell of ever happening. Bedknobs and Broomsticks would be a really fun ride. Candleshoe would make a great walkthrough experience. Even Mary Poppins, sadly probably won't ever see an attraction (if it does it'll be the more recent adaptation). But there's so much potential there.
And stuff with potential in the material? The love bug would be fun, escape to witch mountain is maybe a less obvious choice, but I mean magic is always a good candidate for a ride, Flight of the Navigator, The Rescuers, Inspector Gadget could probably make a good one, Around the World in 80 Days, National Treasure I think would be game as well. All of those could be mined for a really great experience. But the cultural power just isn't really there.
On the business side? What movies have the cultural power to mitigate risk but haven't yet been used? Not that many anymore. Inside Out and Wall-E come to mind. Wreck it Ralph. (I'm leaving marvel out of this because I've seen all of two of them, superheroes just aren't my thing). Moana, Coco. There's probably a few I'm forgetting.
One of the big problems I've been seeing though is that with the Renaissance of Disney animation and Pixar and honestly TV in general....the stories were getting these days are better than ever on the whole (the remake trend aside). Like look at Breaking Bad, and Better Call Saul - some of the best TV that's ever been made..., or look at Inside Out or Encanto - deep stories about what it means to be human and intergenerational trauma -but it's all because writers are really diving into what makes stories on screen good: character, relationships between them, our deepest-innermost worlds. Makes for fantastic TV...does not translate nearly as well to experience design. Even when a lot of these films have amazing worlds...there's not really ready made aspirational experiences baked into them in the way something like Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Jaws, or Peter Pan do.
One of the reasons Avatar worked so well in a theme park is that it had some ready made experiences built into the narrative AND the themes of that narrative were already built into the park. A real case of serendipity. But like a lot of other properties in translation to theme park make you choose between staying true to the themes of the film, or just picking a fun moment. Movies are allowed to make you cry, rides currently aren't. Like encanto had a fantastic setting and casita would probably make a great ride...but no one is going to let you make "inter generational trauma the ride". Vs Peter Pan has themes of childlike wonder and has a flying over London scene...easy to mesh those two together in a ride. Adapting the amazing TV and Movies we have today into satisfying rides because the filmmakers have gotten really good at creating content specifically for their medium. It's not impossible, but takes a lot more effort, and there's less time than ever. It could be made easier if ride designers had a seat at the table while films were being made, or the people in charge of parks and designing attractions were more open to a fuller exploration of human emotion.
Anyway this doesn't exactly answer your question, but maybe it still might prove helpful.

Cinematic universes aren't necessarily automatically bad. They just get exhausting when they're pushed so hard by the studios that produce them.
I know not every Batman movie is connected, but you know why people will still see a Batman movie even when there's a bajillion already made? It's because each movie is spaced apart just the right amount that by the time one comes out, people are open to seeing him again. I mean, let's think about this...Batman Begins came out in 2005, The Dark Knight came out in 2008, and The Dark Knight Rises came out in 2012. That's one trilogy where the movies had a 3-4 year gap between them. And you can love or hate the DCEU, but look at the gaps there. Man of Steel came out in 2013, BvS and Suicide Squad came out in 2016, Wonder Woman and Justice League came out in 2017, Aquaman in 2018, and Shazam came out in 2019. Like, at most, there were two movies released with one year gaps between them. And no, as a whole, the DCEU hasn't done financially as well as the MCU, but they did well enough for there to be sequels to be made.
Like, I remember when I was invested in the MCU and I would most definitely want to see these movies on opening weekend...but I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm older now, but it's just not a priority for me anymore. The last movie I watched was Shang-Chi, which I thought was pretty good. Loki was disappointing despite having a strong start. I haven't bothered to watch the Eternals or Spider-Man: No Way Home yet and I probably won't watch the new Doctor Strange movie (and I didn't really like the first one anyway).
I kind of wish we could go back to the days when sequels were years apart, but that's the thing with fandom demands. Fandom got attached to the Disney/MCU formula, so now it demands everything else be that way too, and it's really killing the moviegoing experience for me.
