(more) Opinons on the new issue Batman and Robin #16 spoilers! So damian writing CHEFS KISS my fave writing is when they understand how kind Damian is, he's truely a good person he is. I have no more opinons but they just get him. Bruce HOWEVER, don't piss me off. Like wym he's sulking and mad at Damian for leaving and not going to school lets go back and remember why Bruce put Damian in school. Point 1: Damian had made friend his own age at the lazarous tournment, Damian had taken a path of healing towards learning how to be a kid again.

Point 2: Bruce from his own personal exprience and knowing his son how dangerous it is to not have a life outside of being Robin. Damian did not need an education, he's a child genius Bruce knows Damian needs stabilty of normal life.

So previously Bruce was mad at Damian because he was skipping school to patrol, and work on their missions. So Bruce was upset, because he was trying to help Damian. Now back to issue #16 it truely, truely reads like what always happens. The writers want to create Bruce and batfam conflict. He's mad at Damian for leaving school to, help people, make connections and have a social life. All the reasons Bruce wanted Damian to be at school for.

I really really am sick of writers, writing one thing and then goin ACTUALLY bruce is mad at them now. They want an endles cycle of drama and I'm so tired so so tired. But anyway rant over. my notps: bodhi/ridoc and violet/cat

I'm going to address Violet/Cat first. I think it's well known I think Cat is an absolute piece of work and the fandom give her too much credit. I mean, don't even start me, it's been one of my biggest bug bears lately. Do not accuse fanfic writers of demonising her, she came that way.

In regards to the pairing though...it could work. Would I personally read it? Probably not, but I think if given a really good redemption arc—one better than *checks notes* finding a boyfriend—I could see it. Of course, that would all be predicated on Xaden being idk dead or something, sooooo yeah.

Bodoc...oh god the bodoc. I'm signing my own death warrant here, I swear.

I'm going to hold everyone's hand when I say this...the fandom practically created the Bodhi they adore. He has very little substance in the book. Bodhi is this fandom's Darcy Lewis. We know next to nothing about him and honestly, half of what we do know, we know from Rebecca's interviews and not the series itself.

Do I like him? Yes! But it's kind of weird to me that everyone insists we know more about him than say...Rhiannon. It's almost like he's got a cult following. He's the One Direction of this fandom and I am terrified to say it kind of kills the vibe for me. He's definitely the one you don't want to admit you're not vibing with out loud, because people will come for you...but here I am, doing it for you, anon!

I sound like a broken record but this series has such a large ensemble cast that you genuinely don't get that much background or substance...for anyone. We get his general demeanor and attitude, enough to know what he's like, but what he's thinking? What he cares about? All guesswork. He's shippable with almost everybody because he's a fun little template you can superimpose however you like.

Ridoc has more depth, in my opinon, after Onyx Storm, and everything about him is easy. To me, Ridoc is the fandom bicycle—shippable with practically everyone. There are opportunities for some really fun romance no matter who you put him with.

Which brings me to yes, I would read bodoc, though personally...I find it a little boring most of the time. I think their affinity as a ship lies in both of them feeling like they're not enough—that angst gives you some juicy bonding material, but without it...they're a bit mundane?

I enjoy it in The Underpants Heist because I think Yanny has a good thing going with grief and jealousy and all these other things that make it compelling (though I'm not up to date on it right now), but in other works it can just seem...boring? Background? Filler-esque? And I'm saying that as someone who's written it!

I think the fandom just defaults to it now as the most popular pairing for each of them, but that doesn't make it compelling. There are definitely instances where I think oof, it would have been more interesting to pair him with [character], you know? Or to make him aroace—I find aroace Bodhi very compelling!

I did proudly suggest Ridoc/Sawyer for dead on arrival, because I thought it would be fun, which is how it's meant to be!

Ultimately, no shade to those who ship it—as I said, I've written them as a side-pairing myself!—it's just not the default for me, I suppose. I enjoy it when it's fun though! 🖤

Fiona and Cake's first two episodes just cemented me in my opinon that we NEED more Teen/YA animation.

For most of 2000s/2010s the series has a choice of being either limited by a low age rating, which in turn can affect how they develop and resolve more mature topics or to become the "adult cartoon" edgefest where everything has to be vulgar becase "it's funny you know?". Both of these scenarios forced showrunners to trick producers with their original pitches (Steven Universe is "fun adventures with superhero women", Adventure Time is "lol random humour, don't kids love it?", Bojack Horseman is "a horse, but he drinks and is depressed, hilarious!") while sneaking in their more mature/serious idea through. I'm not saying these shows can't actively be both, because they can, but to me the sweet spot is truthly the Teen/YA rating, since it doesn't force them to go either direction.

Seeing Fionna and Cake show just BE was really refreshing to me. Real life adult issues; LGBT and queer identities being shown without worrying somone will clutch their pearls; blood, depression and mundane issues neither being "implied" or being butt of the joke, just existing and getting resolved at their own pace. It's not vulgar, but it's not exactly pure; not super dark, but also not cheery and "turn your brains off" fun. Just nuanced, perfect to tell, well, more nuanced stories.

This also takes away from fans pressuring the shows into molds they don't fit in. I've seen so many people "expect this kids show to be more serious with it's plot" when it was literally a TV-G/TV-PG show that's just supposed to be fun without delving into some dark, deeper meaning. Even people complaining Rick and Morty fell off since it does not resolve it's "grander plot" without taking into consideration that it might just want to focus on the jokes and vulgarity and grander plots were part of a extended joke.

Maybe it's my eastern european sensibilities where to me if there isn't actual porn or graphic murder on screen then it's considered "TV-G", but I think having more cartoon shows fall into that sweet TV-14 category is good, actually.

The misinformation, the amount of singlets saying "oh, yes, I want this trauma disorder without trauma, please, please, please", obviously they didnt say exactly that, but thats what it felt like. 10 Disney hot takes/unpopular opinons (Part 6)

Disney doesn't need to change their 3D animation style--I've heard people say Disney should change up their 3D style, similar to how their 2D films had different styles while still feeling like Disney. I disagree, since I quite like their default style, especially compared to Pixar and Dreamworks (who, at worst, feel too cartoon-y and thus like they should've been 2D instead).

2. I wasn't a huge fan of "The Princess and the Frog"--While I love the characters, the animation, and Tiana/Facilier's songs, I'm not a fan of jazz music, so the soundtrack never stuck to me, and I've never enjoyed animal-centric movies (save for where they're in a humanoid environment). That said, this film is SO underrated.

3. Even the good guys kinda did Quasimodo wrong--While I love Phoebus and don't hate the gargoyles, the writers make them look bad by being inconsiderate of Quasimodo's feelings. After being sheltered his whole life, he becomes humiliated (through no interference from the villain, which I appreciate) on his first outing and "ruins" everything. Phoebus doesn't understand how manipulated and hurt Quasimodo is by pressuring him to help him find the Court of Miracles, and the gargoyles telling Quasimodo that they thought he was made of something stronger than stone was hurtful considering his involvement with Phoebus accidentally led to the Romani people being imprisoned and Esmeralda about to be burned at the steak. There's a better way to motivate people than "they're you're friend/I thought you were stronger than this."

4. "Big Hero 6" is the most deserving (modern) Disney movie to have a sequel--Action movies are the most likely to get sequels in the live-action world if they make enough money, and the world of San Fransokyo is so interesting as a Japanese-American hybrid. I think this is more open-ended and structured for more storytelling than the fairy tale films. BH6 only made slightly less than "Moana," so the audience is there, instead of moving it to a tv show like "Tangled."

5. "Wish" should be on the Disney remake list--I don't need to explain myself. The movie was average at best, awful at worst, and if Disney ever decided to remake it (unlikely since it bombed, unless they're gonna remake EVERY animated film in their studio), they could use the OG concepts and give Julia time to rewrite her songs and make new/better ones.

6. "Why Me" isn't better than "Prince Ali (Reprise)"--I felt like WM was a bit too showtune-y, and while it provided more insight into Jafar's motivation, it should've done more if it was going to bring it up. Why wasn't he appreciated? Why was he looked down on? Don't give us a last-minute insight into the villain and then be vague about it. It could've been a cool way to flesh him out.

7. Jennifer Lee was made to take the fall for "Wish"--This is kind of an ignorant thing to say since I don't have all the details, but a theory I've considered is that Jennifer Lee, who was the CEO of Walt Disney Animation from 2018 to 2026, was removed from that position due to the failure of "Wish," which she co-wrote and co-directed. Given that "Wish" likely had exec interference, I think Disney wanted to show audiences that they were reacting to the poor box office performance by kicking off someone who was a big part of the creative team. To be fair, a Disney movie takes about 5 years ("Wish" was conceived towards the end of production of "Frozen 2"), meaning she could've only had a major hand in "Strange World" and "Wish," while "Raya and the Last Dragon" and "Encanto" were already underway with production when she became CEO--unless we get some production insight into Raya's last-minute crew/story change and if anything went amiss at "Encanto." Given that she worked significantly on "Wreck it Ralph" and "Frozen," Disney probably thought she was one of a kind (not saying she isn't), and thus promoted her quickly thanks to the movie's successes, only to panic when their 2022 and 2023 films bombed, especially when they had big plans for "Wish" as their anniversary film. As a result, they took her out of the equation and replaced her with Jared Bush, who is in a similar situation to her (only worked significantly on two films before being promoted), though he hasn't hit a snag in his films yet.

8. Disney should make (another) parody movie--Enchanted was a hybrid film, and "Frozen" was meta, but having a smartly-written comedy that parodied Disney films would be a good way to get the audience back on their side, particularly since many people think we're in a dark age now. HOWEVER! While "Enchanted" was made to parody all of Disney's eras up to the 21st century, it felt mostly derived from the classic Golden, Silver, and Bronze ages of Disney. I'd rather the new parody be influenced by the renaissance to revival eras.

9. Sequels should be discussed IMMEDIATELY--When I say "immediately," I'm not just slamming Disney opting to change the "Moana" series into a film 10 months before release (and giving them little wiggle room for alterations). By "immediately," I mean once the film's final box office is recorded, that's when the company should discuss franchising/sequels, rather than it feeling like a spur of the moment thing. Plus you can plan according, rather than them happening in quick succession (as the case with 2024, 2025, and 2027).

10. "Hocus Pocus" should've been an animated musical--I would've loved seeing a New England setting that took place only 100 years after the Sanderson Sister's death instead of 300, allowing for a medieval (well, technically Early Modern) setting, and I'd have loved to hear what the soundtrack would've been like. Plus Disney didn't have any animated releases in 1993, so that could've worked out.

Usually, I try to talk about different storylines in the episode.

However. this is all about Nathan/Elizabeth.

You said it! If Nathan/Elizabeth are not End Game this season, then this is just cruel!

The writers/showrunner has brought many Team Nathan fans back, though we're not trying to get our hopes up.

The show feels like S1 - S7 and seems to be going back to it's roots. And, I'm here for all of it!

Elizabeth is finally seeing Nathan Grant! This is not projecting Jack onto Nathan or PTSD like some fans claim it to be.

The wedding dress scene was a pleasant surprise/shock. I never expected that. Wrong dress but the right man saw it!

The speech advice Elizabeth gave him. Nathan didn't ask for her help, she willingly sought him out. It's annoying that some fans claim it's always the other way around.

Every scene with them is perfect chemistry. I hope that this isn't just ratings bait.

Then, that preview for next week. Is it a throwback to the Christmas movie when Nathan was offered a promotion, and Elizabeth convinced him not to take it?

If so, it's Elizabeth's turn to listen and think about life changing decisions.

Nathan/Elizabeth aside, I'm genuinely enjoy the season a lot. There were parts I didn't like (mostly the whole Faith/Nathan thing) but otherwise it's been solid. I can't believe this is what we're getting right now.

Yes, I liked how she explicitly said she was scared of losing another person that she cares about. That was important. I think there's definitely more to explore there with her grief but it's not merely about Jack.

Wrong dress but the right man. Absolutely! I loved that. She still took his breath away even in that hideous thing. What a moment!

Elizabeth is almost always the one approaching Nathan for stuff like that. She seeks him out consistently. Always has. She can't resist talking to him if he's around.

The argument about it being for ratings doesn't consider how it would backfire for next season if Nathan fans feel betrayed again. Yeah they might be watching now but they won't continue into season 11 if this is just a stunt. Besides, they don't need it. The show has been pulling in good numbers considering no one has cable anymore.

There's a longer version of that scene out that I posted. Ugh. It's so good. He's gonna get the truth out of her one way or another and we all know the answer. There's no way in hell she wants to be a governor's wife and move away. That goes against the whole premise of the show.

He believes in chances for almost everyone even the son of his worst enemy and goes on to make a great character. Who while the love confession  towards his  best friend/ could have been boyfriend Dean was great did the writers have to use it to make his entire character and growth based on the person he loves romantically even in this case, and then have him die, No very clearly no.

Sam Winchester- “It doesn’t matter what you are. It only matters what you do. It’s your choice.”- Songs that remind me of him: Zero By Imagine Dragons, Breaking The Habit By Linkin Park,  Reasons I love him: My favorite most consistent main character of the bunch. He loves the helping part of the job is what it’s always seemed like to me.I especially love in later seasons how with so much experience in being the weird guy in the fam, he just goes full hearted on helping the other black sheeps in the families. He sticks up for choice consistently and believes in his own family . Overall the kind of guy who if he wasn’t a hunter, I could see myself getting along with.

Bobby Singer-“FAMILY DON’T END WITH BLOOD, BOY.” Songs that remind me of him: Bad Liar By Imagine Dragons.Reasons I love him: How does one describe why they love original Bobby Singer’s character? Well I’ll give it my personal take. He is not only a great father figure and balance between the boys when he is in the show, but also a great character in his own right. While I originally would put Dean higher before watching season 7-15,and Bobby Lower (still #5 don’t worry), that changed heavily based on the Bobby episode  Deaths door. It made me retroactivelly rethink about Bobby everything I knew,and made me love his character for the little time he had on the show moving forward. Also this, and what I’m about to say about Dean are purely my opinon,so don’t spread hate in my comments. 

Dean Winchester-“That's crap. You always have a choice. You can either roll over and die or you can keep fighting, no matter what.”- Songs That Remind Me of Him: All Alright By Fun, Shots By Imagine Dragons,   Old Time and Rock and Roll Bob Seger and the silver bullet band. Why I like this character: His character early on easily persuaded me on why he was one of the main characters, but eventually the show took Dean’s angry phases and almost controling/overprotective nature a little bit to far for my liking, and then kept doing it for long enough periods of time that it got very annoying very quickly. In the begging tho, I loved his character he hardley ever gave up, he cared about his family in a weird but understandable way, he was absolutely a delight to watch. In the end he end up making me almost keyword almost agree with the many that say that Supernatural should have ended in season 5. Because after that is when his character quickly started getting stale. But he started out great so point for that. But part of the only reason I’m even putting him on is people would have bitched otherwise. They did his character dirty, (yes dirtier than they did Sam’s) sorry not sorry.

I haven't read the books in a long time but I did rewatch the movies a few months back. So I'm just gonna go with my overall thoughts on Effie.

Effie as a character really fascinates me the same way Caesar Flickerman did. Like they makes me want to read thg in their pov because we know so little about them—about their opinions, how their brain works, what they really think about things, etc.

It's because we don't know much about her that I find her intriguing—is she really just a capitol pawn or is she more than just her pretty face? That's why I love reading fics that explore her and the different ways fic writers add their own headcanon and stuff. It's always interesting, you'll never get bored of it.

Now, I LOVE Elizabeth Banks' portrayal of Effie, I think she brought her own twist to her character. She made the character extra interesting and entertaining to me. At times she's like a comic relief, she's sassy, plus the glances and stares she sends Haymitch's way while she purses her lips, love that. Wish we could've seen more of that haha.

So yeah, in conclusion, I love Effie, and I love Elizabeth Banks' portrayal of her, it left me wanting for more.

i heard this fun fact about flora being a top student and joked about it a little on a fake jokey tecna flora beef video (the creator said it was a joke between them and their friend so it wasn't really editing beef) but the comment was met with so much... (no hate) reactions because i dared to jokingly say that "ive heard somewhere that flora is smarter than tecna, i wonder if they have beef over their personal learning styles"- which tbh i know sounds kind of silly It Was but someone- the first comment actually was like "you flora stans are always making things up istg" to which i reply "oh i just saw it in the winx power musical and i heard it somewhere :)" and they were like "thats not canon tho" and people were so quick to like defend tecna and lol all caps at my little comment because the very idea that flora and tecna (fictional characters) would have "beef over personal learning styles" when the point was inteligence is kinda subjective. i mean- flora is a botanist and observant like how she noticed the fern in helia's paper. she can revitalize forests as well with convergence magic/her own magic and can speak to nature. ofc tecna is smart too! i mean Super smart and a stratagist- combative skills are great, and knows so much about technology and tecnomagic. but in a different way that Alfea might not value or specialize with their classes (it said she was above average student) it's also a flaw given that she "relies too much on logic" so I just joked that she ""might have beef"" with someone who works differently. (luckily they don't seem to Real beef in canon or said musical which makes me happy good for my stem fairies)

anyway one of the main issues about the drama on that site is like how much people care so much about scaling the characters to the point where it gets Very Opinonated and like ???? (especially Flora where there are two camps who see her as super weak and super strong where i think shes in the middle in s1-4) Often people seem to dislike the belief that Flora is stronger due to her powers being nature which is everywhere. Which I get too. But I'm in the camp that she is a very strong and capable character who the writers wrote her to be weaker alone with the Trix in season 1 because of her personality. but they tone this down we see her strength really grow in the next 3 seasons and she is seen holding her own against other foes. it makes sense because in season 1 most were new students and we see the evolution of her powers. from what I gather she is written to be on the same level as the other Winx in the Nickelodeon era (5-7) and world of winx for the most part, with that fight with her and Icy in 6 being a notable one. overall im not always a fan on how some of the writers handled the "emotional side" of flora, aisha, and musa in some scenes. especially in battle having their temper/emotional side being a slight "deterence" or a flaw. the tecna vs flora thing is Wild !! flora is canonically a straight A student and consistently one of the best students at alfea. tecna is absolutely the Smart One but their specialities lie in different areas. tecna does Not know as much about plants, chemistry, or potion making. just like flora doesn't know as much about technology, engineering, or piloting. they have their individual strengths!! being that mad that someone acknowledges flora's canon intelligence or headcanons that they may have conflict over how they learn is so ? like,,, tecna canonically gets mad at flora's plants being everywhere and that's Part of flora's schooling,, it's not wild to say they may have small arguments from time to time!

This is something I've thought about changing many times as I understand your point of it giving more creative freedom for muns, however, from experience it's something I've seen being used almost exclusively for the past few years to make already young faceclaims even younger, causing gaps between muns and muses. I want New Leaf to be a place where everyone feels welcome, both older and younger muses or writers, and my fear is a community oversaturated by really young muses (under 25) and older ones feeling/being left out because of the pattern I've seen over the years, which is why I'm hesitant to change this rule. I could of course be wrong about this, so I am very much open to hearing your or anyone else reading this's opinon on the matter if there are any suggestions or constructive criticism!

Would it be helpful if aging your muse up or down by 3 years was possible but there was a restriction on aging down muses that are 25-27 and younger, or would that make people uncomfortable for different reasons? If you're reading this, please let me know your thoughts!
