Doing this while on a double-16 hour shift. Meaning, I did 16's yesterday and today, so if my writing seems really off, you know now why XD

I've been struggling with writing for some time now. I've been trying to heal and work on other things, but thank you so much--My Cuties--for your patience with me.

I always am inspired by your support, and your passionate memory of me and my works.

Prompt:

Fabrics. Buttons. Can’t forget the soft stuff is the outer layer. Oh! Sewing! Finally!

I was so excited to get this going! I put it straight up to my mirror, overlapping my body to make sure the proportions were right.

I often made sweaters for Penguins, but if I’m being truly honest, I haven’t really tested myself properly with forging my own clothes!

“I will conquer this contest!” I held up my arms to the ceiling, as though declaring my intentions with sound, purposeful might!

After all, the winner gets to meet the voice actor for my favorite little pupper! His voice is so cute when he barks on the new show they just aired, and everyone wants to dress up as a version of him!

Looking online, though… It seems there’s a lot of people who judge ridiculously for these competitions… I felt a little embarrassed… but I ended up asking Sticks for some advice.

She’s really good at… umm… should I call it, ‘Makeshifting’ stuff?

I think that’s appropriate. It’ll suffice.

Sticks, of course, couldn’t keep a secret for the life of her. I was asking the Walrus mother about some patchwork questions when I heard a BURST of laughter coming from our favorite Burger place…

Now I was really mad..!

I squandered my entrance with hasty, stomping footsteps as my cheek kept puffing up to ridiculous heights of anger.

I stopped only to square up as Sticks was showing my prototype cosplay of my favorite Pup to our friends, who were mocking it as I had feared the judges would as well.

But… But I had to win that one on one time with that Voice Actor!

“Enough!” I stomped my foot down again and threw my arms down. That really made them flinch, they were so… So..!

My fist shook in rage. It rose up… and I… I regret it, but I couldn’t keep my emotions from blowing up.

“You’re all so self-absorbed sometimes!”

The silence was deafening.

I felt my eyes welling up, but I wouldn’t dare release tears to their mockery.

I stormed past Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails to rip the Pup costume out of Sticks’s hands… she was standing up on a table, the others sitting at another one to watch as though an audience to my hard work being treated like a child’s art and crafts hung on the fridge…

I wanted so much more than that for this costume,... and looking at it, my rage turned to disappointment… mostly in myself.

I just wanted to meet my favorite character’s voice actor… Or at least, get a chance to take pictures and… and…

I saw the fake fur growing darker in spots… water falling from my eyes.

I threw my face into the fuzz and raced away, the little prototype face of the pup still forever dorky and adorable, as though trying to comfort me…

Back at home, I heard a knock on the door, and ignored the pitiful cries of my friends… before looking up from leaning my head over the armrest of the couch to see they were all just watching me from my bare and open window.

I sighed, letting them in.

They were adorable!!!!

They actually spent the time to all make Puppy costumes! We’d all be so cute going to the convention they were hosting for the World Championships of my favorite puppy game, that I almost lost it in my excitement!

We all then worked together to perfect our cosplays, looking up tutorials–as recommended of Tails–and Knuckles doing the heavy-lifting bargaining sales by fighting old ladies for our supplies at the one craft store in the village.

Sonic was speedy with needlework, though it wasn’t the finest, he practiced and pricked his finger all night to perfect it. He admitted he felt a little weird doing the hobby, but you know what?

I saw him practicing with yarns in knitting! Haha! I think he found something he actually really likes! Now that he’s got the whole ‘hand-eye’ coordination nailed down flat.

I winked at him, and he smiled to me. For the first time in a long time, I was reminded why I loved him so much.

I blushed when he asked me, still minding his own business with his cosplay gluing of silly eyeballs that bounced around for the project. “Why do you want to win so bad at this costume contest, anyway, Ames? We could have all just gone to support you in winning the championship.”

“Emm… I think Eggman’s gonna enter it. I would much prefer the prize of-” I suddenly halted and put my face into the paw that I was working on, making sure the fluff was getting stuffed into it correctly. “Quality time with the Voice Actor!”

“H-Huh?” Sonic suddenly stopped working but I was buried deep in soft toe-pads~

My literal dream~!

“Hehe. He’s my favorite.” I pulled out only to hear the heavy fabric of his cosplay slide off the couch from Sonic’s lap.

“Hmm?” But when I turned to look at him, he had sped off, and I wasn’t sure what that was about…

My best guess? He was probably antsy from putting in so much work while staying in one place for too long. He needed to stretch his legs, I get it.

It was then that I noticed… his Pup Costume was actually the best friend of my Puppy’s! I was so happy to see which Puppy he picked!

I wonder… did he watch the show? I thought him and Knuckles called it a bore when I tried to watch it with them. Sticks just thinks the convention is a conspiracy to drain creatively suffering artists of all their pocketbooks while feeding them government distractions from what was really going on in their lives… but everyone already knew and accepted that, so I didn’t bother discussing it further.

However, Tails and me were all about that sweet, sweet lore~

Tails had some fun theories! He was playing the Grand Grandpa German Shepard character that was only found within the television series, having some CRAZY theories that he was actually a wizard.

I think the new collectible line of their pieces for the game is going to eventually come out with him, not just as a toy, but they’re waiting for the big season finale coming up before they drop it, I think.

Finally, we had all gotten our cosplays ready, and taking a fun picture really quick, we entered the convention as Sticks immediately began a protest soapbox performance in the corner of the giant building.

Not surprising anyone… she got a huge following, who wanted to add her to their social medias, but she thought that meant scuba diving into her personal life and breaching her security, making her rear up like a cat’s back hairs and hiss them away, running from her new adoring fans.

Knuckles was the giant Saint Bernard Pup, and immediately got stepped every few steps he took for a picture. He lifted up fans and seemed to really soak in all the attention! In fact, I think he even mentioned that maybe the show and game wasn’t all that bad! I was proud of him for opening up his… uh… well, what was surely there of his big noggin’ brain to other possibilities of what was defined as ‘cool’.

Tails was already debating with fans about rumors, leaks, and got really sucked into the collectible Puppy Piece Bobbleheads that were there. Extremely limited editions, and although he told me he wasn’t about that life, he clearly got thrown into the puppy void vortex of their advertisement and ranking pool.

I hope he got a rare rainbow or reverse holo. I hear those skins are rare.

I suddenly felt a hand grasp mine and gasped, turning around to see… Sonic?

I was almost certain everyone had dispersed… but seeing him still here… it brought a warm smile to my anxious heart.

“You… You’re gonna come to the contest with me?” I beamed, trying to hold my excitement in at his sweet gesture.

“Why else would I wear this costume?” He shrugged, trying to play it cool, but I loved his shyness.

Evvvveeennn if it got a little annoying sometimes… because he really ought to learn how to express himself better.

Sigh, for another day~

“Oh! There he is!” I pointed to the man of the hour! The admiration of my tiny little heart beating like a true Puppy Fan! “There he isss!!!” I shook Sonic, careful to not mess up his cosplay, but incredibly overjoyed as I jumped on differing legs, back and forth, swinging my oversized onesie I made from scratch to and fro.

“It’s Marks Dan Barkman! His yips and growls are so profound! His whines and gruffy huffs are to die for! And his howl!!!!” I held up my hands to my idol, not realizing…

Sonic had let go of my hand long ago…

I was so distracted, but quickly reached back to grab Sonic’s arm and drag him over to the sign up table.

“Dave?” I was surprised to see him working the stand.

He shrugged, “Eh, it’s a job.” He breathily stated as though exasperated, pulling out a baton and whacking some eager fans hands away from the participation sheet. “ONE AT A TIME!” He hollered, then sighed and sat back down, handing me the paper.

“Here you… uh… go. Just sign here… here… sign your soul over here… Your individual property rights… name and number… social security… thank you, you may proceed.”

After I just filled out the necessities, I rushed to the stage’s stairs and looked back at Sonic.

He looked�� for some reason, shaken up.

I smiled warmly to him, rushing back over and giving him a hug. “I know it’s a lot of people and the smell is atrocious…” I gagged a little, then pulled away, “But it really means the world to me that you’re supporting me, Sonic!”

I couldn’t read his expression.

I just gave him a sweet, close-eyed smile and raced up the stairs!

I did a cute little improv, walking around as the fans cheered for me. It was amazing!

Since I liked doing a little writing on the side… I decided to perform and even shook my bum to make the puppy tail, fashioned with springs, to wiggle wildly, which was a signature for the pupper.

They all went ballistic with the detail and fine-finishing of my cosplay! And I actually won!

I was so excited, my fists were up by my face, and I got to stand. In. front. Of. “MARKS. HEHEHEHE. DAN. HAHAHAH. BARKMAN.” I almost fainted, but he was so charming and caught me, pulling me back to him.

“Haha, you’re a sweet one! What’s your name, little pup?”

I practically died.

“Amy Rose! Heheh~ I’m your biggest fan!”

I heard something like a howl or whine from the crowd, but the impression didn’t sound anything like a puppy character I knew, and it followed by a snap of something, but I couldn’t see from the spotlights on the stage.

“Well, to the victor the spoils!” He did some impressions that I literally did back, barking and yipping in little ‘quotes’ from the show, which was mostly just puppies as the crowd mimicked us back.

However, went he went down to kiss my cosplay puppy’s nose…

“THAT’S IT.” Sonic raced up from the crowd, shook out my arm–summoning the Piko Piko Hammer–and went to-

ATTACK MY FAVORITE VA STAR?!

“Sonic! What are you doing!?” I grabbed his arms as they were pulled back, ready to overhead slam and spike my favorite voice actor through the wooden stage!

“This is not a fighting game!” I cried out, pulling him back, “We do not smash our brother puppers here!”

The security, like hounds to a rabbit, suddenly swarmed over us and when their pack of matted hairballs dispersed, my Piko Piko Hammer had a single zip-tie around its handle.

I gasped, “You got my hammer securitified!” I gasped, letting him go as he hobbled a second and looked at the ‘clearly not helping’ single zip-tie on the stem.

“H-huh?”

“Weapons aren’t allowed at the convention, idiot!” A fan heckled from the crowd.

“O-Oh.” Sonic lowered it a bit, then pointed accusingly to Mr. Barkman. “This old geezer was trying to kiss you, though!”

The crowd, including myself, were aghast with gasps at such disrespect.

“How dare you!” I whipped the Piko Piko Hammer from his grasp and went to bonk him, but the convention security whistled, I looked over with Sonic, and we both lowered the hammer as he cleared his throat.

“Ohh!!! He was gonna give my Puppy cosplay a kiss on the nose!” I pointed to the hoodie of my detailed and perfectly chubby puppy onesie cosplay, as Sonic suddenly seemed greatly embarrassed by his misunderstanding.

“B-But… I’m your hero, Amy!”

The crowd, as is typical of drama alluring their starved minds for entertainment, suddenly sat back against their seats, as though respectful spectators of the new ‘series’ they were now willingly participating in with their full, judging, and undivided attention.

“... Sonic?” I lowered the hammer as it fell to the ground, crashing through the wood and showing just how strong it actually was.

“We’re not paying for that.” On his phone, Dave the Intern just scrolled and didn’t even bother to look up, “My contract doesn’t specify anything more than being here.”

“You… You called him your favorite!” Sonic looked away, being more vulnerable than I was normally used to…

“This is so in-character.” I heard someone whisper.

“Yeah, they’re best friends, after all.”

It was then I realized… They all thought we were performing a skit!

I sighed in relief, they weren’t judging us…

I put a hand to my heart, “My pupper brother…” I stated, and in the language of the pooches, confessed my undying love of Sonic The Hedgehog.

While all Sonic could hear was intermediate barking, the audience pulled out tissues and began to blow their noses or wipe their eyes at my speech of profound, unyielding fidelity to my pupper brother.

Although my yips, barks, whimpers, and yowling howls were all emotionally gripping in the very character of my favorite puppy character, I was actually speaking from my heart, referring to Sonic as the greatest friend I’ve ever known.

“... Amy… What?” He held up a hand, “I’m supposed to be getting all this…” He gestured to me, “Weird animal noises… stuff?”

I laughed, “Oh, Sonic. I’m just saying you’re my number one idol! No one can compare to you!” I jumped into his arms, and the crowd all sounded off with ‘Awww~’.

Mr. Barkman started the claps, and I did get his signature and picture in the end!

However… We were now wholly in a compromised situation… as one fan suddenly spoke out.

“Wait… Sonic? And Amy Rose?”, “Heeeyy… How did Sonic pull out her Hammer from Hammerspace?”, “No, no. He didn’t ‘pull it out’.” He did the bunny ears.

I knew that voice, and Sonic looked like he was having PTSD flashbacks from hearing it, too.

Mark the Tapir… Sonic’s proclaimed ‘number one’ fan…

“Clearly,” He made himself the leading voice on the ‘debate’ now. “The simple action of ‘shaking’ Amy’s hand out triggered the reaction of the hammer. Simple as that.”

“Nuh-uh!” A little girl suddenly poked her head up from the crowd, being now on her father’s shoulders, “Only Amy can summon her hammer! And how was he able to wield it? What triggers it, anyway?”

“Uhhh…” I slowly brought Sonic towards the stairs, also reaching back to paw the air for Mr. Barkman’s arm, not wanting to lose my ‘one-on-one’ time with the celebrity, still. “This is gonna get gnarly…” I warned, but it was too late…

“What if it’s an imposter Amy Rose? Amy Rose is a common name and surname. Plus, it could be meta. A cosplay WITHIN a cosplay!”

“What if the contest was rigged just to promote a new Sonic convention!?”

“I thought the power of Love triggered Amy’s hammer! That’s why she has such strong emotions!”

“Isn’t her hammer heavy? How could he hold it over his head?”, “Hang on, her hammer is REPEATEDLY shown to change in size. She can manifest it anyway she wants!”, “If that were true, how come it’s also shown that the bigger her emotions, the bigger and more powerful the hammer gets?”, “Is it one hammer or many? Can she duel-weild!?”

I began to try and covertly hide herself, while also getting Sonic to pose with our elaborate cosplays to take more videos and do impressions with Barkman, sneaking out as the fans went ballistic.

“Thank you, everyone, for not having me go alone.” I smiled at my friends when we all were getting the overly expensive food at the convention, getting ready to go home.

“But… But how did Sonic manage to hold your hammer, Amy? Did you just… summon it cause he clearly wanted you to?” Tails was, unfortunately, sucked into the lore debate just as promptly as his white tote bags also clearly showed his new obsession with rare pieces of a specific merch having crept in unwillingly.

The environment can get to people, sometimes…

I laughed, “It’s a secret~” Winking to them.

Sticks groaned, having gone full incognito now, slurping her overpriced drink. “It’s clearly cause Amy’s got muscle memory. Sonic’s seen her summon the hammer a thousand times. He shook her hand, she noticed what she wanted, and honestly, whenever has our Amy denied Sonic anything? They fight alongside each other all the time, it’s clearly just that she indulged him after realizing what he wanted from the shaking and she just–did it.” Sticks tried to explain.

I blushed though,... the real reason wasn’t just because I felt ‘trained’ or ‘condition’ to summon my hammer and trust Sonic had a reason…

It was… because…

He grabbed my arm with such firm haste, shaking my arm as though wanting my attention more than anything else in that moment…

Now that I knew he was jealous… My heart, in that moment, only knew that it was racing with how speedily he came to my side.

Without really thinking about it, my hammer came out.

Sonic wouldn’t know my secret… but everyone who heard my heartfelt pooch language cries would know the truth…

At least, they should.

Twas the startlement of love that summoned my hammer~ From the get-go, that’s how it’s always worked~

Since I first met Sonic, I wanted to get stronger, and the Hammer came from that feeling, I think.

To be closer to him…

“... Isn’t the hammer just a meme off a children’s toy?”

Everyone looked at Sonic.

Especially me, in disappointment.

I summoned it and went to bonk him lightly on the head when I suddenly heard a whistle blow and the pack of clouded fluff from security glomped me again!

Luckily, my cosplay was easily fixed at the nearby ‘Cosplay Medic’ Stand, so I wasn’t too upset. They did confiscate my Piko Piko Hammer, but I simply ‘poof’ed it back into my hand when leaving the convention.

My other hand… was occupied by Sonic, as we tagged behind the team so no one saw us…

Aww!~ He really is so shy! Ah…

I looked behind him, “Barkman… You… You can go back to work or… I don’t know, go home now?”

Barkman looked a little lost, but nodded, sheepishly rubbing the back of his head and waving us farewell.

“You know, I bet even Voice Actors miss hanging out with their friends. They live busy lives.” I nodded.

“That, or he really is a creep with his fans.” This time, nothing could stop my hammer from colliding with Sonic’s big, handsome, and FAT spiky head!

“No one. Not even you, Sonic The Hedgehog, disrespect Marks Dan Barkman!” This time, I think he laughed after saying, ‘Ouch! Amy..!’ because he knew I would do the same to anyone speaking ill of him, too. ^^

“Alright, let's get started.” Amy said, clasping her hands together. She was standing in front of the large consoles that controlled the wall of monitors Tails had built.

“What’s the point in doing this?” A soldier, a brown raccoon, asked with a deep frown. “With Sonic dead there's no hope in us winning.”

“Sonic isn't dead.” Tails mumbled, his gaze locked onto the map sat atop the table everyone was gathered around.

“Then where is he?” The soldier asked, rolling his eyes. “You gotta grow up and accept that Sonic's–”

“Leave him alone.” Knuckles turned to the soldier to glare at him.

“I'm just saying!” The raccoon raised his paws defensively. “He needs to–”

“You've said enough, Ranger.” Amy frowned at him before sighing. “We're going to find Sonic, but right now we have to focus on pushing Eggman back.”

“Good luck with that.” Another soldier, a light blue lion huffed. “The closest thing we have to Sonic can't go outside without having a panic attack.” She made a point to look towards the little fox, rolling her eyes when he didn't move to argue with her.

Silver frowned at her, “He's going through a lot. Give him a break.”

“We're all going through a lot, Silver.” The lion said, crossing her arms. “But at least we're pulling our weight.”

“Come on, Quinn.” A gray cat sighed, “That's not fair.”

“Who cares about being fair, Hazy?” Ranger asked, frowning. “He's dealt with Eggman longer than any of us! He watched Sonic die, the least he could do is help out in the fights!”

“Hey!” Amy shouted, glaring at the raccoon and lion. “Both of you, stop it.” She scolded.

“You know we're right, Commander.” Quinn grumbled. “He's practically useless right now.”

More arguments broke out after that. Some defending Tails, but most berating him.

Silver went to join the conversation, but stopped when he felt a head push itself into his neck.

Looking down to his right, he found Tails trying to hide himself against the gray hedgehog. He was trembling slightly, ears pressed against his head as his paws clung to his tails that were twirled around each other.

Silver frowned, “Knuckles–” He looked up, stopping himself when he realized the echidna was standing now. He was arguing with Quinn, baring his teeth at her.

“Amy?” He turned to the pink hedgehog next, but she was busy trying to get everyone to stop yelling.

“Guys!–” Silver tried to raise his voice, but everyone else only got louder.

He groaned and looked around the room as he hugged the fox, trying to find a way to get everyone's attention.

His eyes eventually landed on the light switch beside the door.

Using his telekinesis, he flipped the switch down. The room went dark, causing the arguments to end in gasps as people looked around to figure out what happened.

Once it was just quiet mumbling, Silver flicked the lights back on. “Guys.” He called, watching as everyone finally turned to look at him. “You're scaring him.”

Knuckles and Amy immediately looked down at Tails, the latter's ears wilting at the sight of her brother.

Ranger scoffed and went to say something, but the pink hedgehog quickly beat him to it, “Silver, Knuckles, please go take him to his room and try to calm him down.” She ordered, looking at the two.

Silver nodded and shifted the little fox so he could pick him up as he stood from his chair. Knuckles walked ahead, opening the door for the hedgehog.

Amy smiled at them before turning back to the other mobians, specifically Ranger and Quinn, “We're gonna have a talk.” She decided, her smile dropping into a glare.

Silver could feel a shiver go down his spine at the sight.

He's just glad her anger isn't directed at him.

okay so i obviously haven't read all the khr fics out there, so this will be by no means an exhaustive list. but from the ones i've read? *crack knuckles* let's go through my bookmarks in no particular order!

also adding this after i finished answering the ask, but this just ended up being a list of arco fics and/or tsuna fics (+ the 10th gen and/or reborn). but like. are we surprised zfsdfdsf.

Superhero/Supervillain AU: All Sawada Tsunayoshi wants to do is help people. Considering his occupation as a Vongola Inc. superhero, you'd think that wouldn't be much of a problem. You'd be wrong. [Of course 'people' isn't supposed to include wanted supervillains. But it's hardly Tsuna's fault that the training manual doesn't specify that, is it.] Along the way, he learns to help himself.

this series is just so, so good! all the works in it are simply *chef's kiss*. the worldbuilding is amazing, the characters so in character and complex and with so many layers and depth to them. also it's obviously planned down to the last detail, so it's incredibly fun to follow along and try to piece the puzzle along with the various characters' pov.

The Boy in the Ice by eloquentelegance

A mysterious pillar of ice drops out of the sky and fuses with the grounds of Yuuei. It's not the strangest thing to happen, especially for this school. But the boy, frozen within, is strange - yes, very strange indeed.

haven't read chapter 2 yet, but i have no doubt it won't disappoint whenever i'll be able to get to it. as for chapter 1? a fucking masterpiece. it's a khr x bnha crossover, and i don't usually read crossover, but boy, am i glad this is one of the few i gave a chance to haha.

In one world, Tsuna sacrificed his life to save the Arcobaleno. As soon as he drew his last breath, he opened his eyes again to see beaten students cowering in front of him and a bloody hammer in his hand.

it's been a while since i've reread this one, but i still have the reaction of "oh, this one was so, so good!!" whenever i come across it lol, so yeah. what i do remember is i absolutely love the depiction of hibari in this one as well as his dynamic with tsuna. also little miss bunny is one of my favorite khr writers, they're so good at crafting the different aus they come up with and making them feel real while still keeping the characters in character, i love it.

Target Acquired: Wicked Jester by poorasdirt

Colonnello has always been a military man. He understood what led to him being cursed. He understood why the others had been cursed. Or, well, why most of the others had been cursed. Skull's motivations had always been a mystery to him. Now that the curse had been lifted, Colonnello could finally sit back and try to puzzle it out. If only it were that easy. Or Colonnello's instincts were telling him something wasn't right and curiosity only kills cats.

i know for a fact i've already recc this one before, and i'm doing it again because it's just that good. <3 it's another one heavy on worldbuilding, which is funny because usually worldbuilding isn't exactly my thing, but how can i say no to them when they're all so well written like this. anyway it's a skull-centric fic through nello's pov, so of course i was all for it zfsegfdsds.

Starstruck by Little_Miss_Bunny

All Tsuna wanted was his siblings to be happy. So, he didn't see a problem attending a fan signing for one of the hottest bands to date, even if he had no clue who they were. He did start seeing a problem when more idols started appearing in his life. It got even worse when they just wouldn't leave him alone.

i love this one so, soo much! this is my favorite work of theirs. it's currently at 153k words tho, so not too sure how to summarize it lol, but just trust me on this one! it's more on the lighthearted one compared to their other works, tho still touch on serious stuff and do it well, but i'd still consider it a comfort (and funny) fic.

For this Skull has cold eyes and harsher threats, and he doesn't know the rest of the Arcobaleno. Perhaps more importantly, the Arcobaleno find, is that they don't know Skull.

i love this one for the ending and the build up to it. it's a wip, but the first chapter can be read as a one shot (imo) so it works well. it's a skull is harry potter fic, and like i already said i don't usually read crossover fics, but this is another one i'm glad i gave a chance to.

this movie, y'all. I should preface this with the fact that I know next to nothing about Sonic outside of the live action universe, so a lot of my excitement comes from my limited knowledge of this franchise

Shadow is so much different than I thought he would be! Keanu did a phenomenal job voicing him imo. He made him seem a lot more like a person with actual feelings than I thought he was before I watched this. I kinda had an idea in my head that Shadow was this emo angry kid and didn't know why but this was an incredible subversion of those expectations and I'm so glad his character is the way he is!! He's so interesting to watch. His realization at the end that this definitely isn't what Maria wanted (or what he wants) was just so incredible. I loved his team up with Sonic!

Honestly the entire story of Shadow and Maria was just so devastating to watch. It's so important for how the audience views Shadow for us to see that past and how happy he was so that we can understand why he wants revenge so bad. It's so so so good and his sacrifice at the end of the movie was incredible. The fact that he was willing to give up his life to fix his mistake just says so much about who he is.

and Maria's line of how the light still shines even after the star has died was beautiful. That sentiment is just so heartwarming <3

Also I'm an "always watches the credits" girlie so YES I SAW THAT SCENE AT THE VERY END MY BOY IS ALIVEEEEEEE

and SPEAKING of credits scenes, THEY'RE MAKING ANOTHER MOVIE???? WITH AMY???? HELLO????? let's freaking go I'm so pumped

Knuckles and Tails were more of sidekicks in this movie than in the ones before, which was a tad bit disappointing. I know that with as many characters that are in this universe it can be hard to balance screen time between them all, but still. I think watching an entire show focused on Knuckles skewed my view a bit too, so that could just be my like weird warped perception throwing me off idk (and my love for Knuckles is definitely throwing me off haha)

I loooove the way Robotnik's story ended!!! He died doing something good, and I just rly like that. The closure of the plot line between him and Agent Stone was wonderful too!!

Maddie and Tom were (as always) absolute MVP's here! I love that they give the boys freedom to go do what needs to be done, but they're also always willing to get involved and help. It's wonderful I love them a lot <333

SPEAKING OF TOM????? dude I was PANICKED OHHH MY GOSH and Shadow's immediate regret at seeing how upset Sonic was GAHHHHH :(((((( SO glad Tom's okay bc omg I woulda lost it. I loved how Sonic was fueled by his grief and OH the part where Knuckles was gonna fight him over the master emerald but backed down bc he wanted to keep his oath???? that stabbed me in the heart I love him

So, I originally watched the trailer quickly before I had to go to work. I think at that time my general thoughts overall were basically:

Every new installment they surprise me with just how sad and wet Agent Stone's eyes can get in the presence of Robotnik

Ough parallels between movie sonic and movie shadow

...What if Movie Shadow made a connection with Tails and Knuckles over their individual struggles in finding home despite their pasts?

Movie!Knuckles wants Movie!Shadow so bad it makes him look stupid. I love how excited he is to fight him. Like they just took Sonic's initial onesided fixation on fighting Shadow from SA2 and gave it to Knuckles and I'm not complaining

They should make Shadow and Tails implied friends like the Tailstubes did. For me 👉👈

The juxtaposition between Sonic and Knuckles here is hilarious to me. Knuckles insulting Sonic when he sees Shadow, right in front of Sonic. Sonic trying to tell Knuckles they should be reasoning with Shadow and Knuckles is like "Nope can't hear you I need to fight him!"

I wonder just how much they're gonna tie in the Knuckles tv show. I kinda hope Wade and the flames of disaster make an appearance at least

I did, however, rewatch the trailer for this ask, so if you'd like to see some more in depth thoughts on the trailer, I've put them under the cut

"Sonic, you've finally found your family."

This line is interesting to me simply because Tom says it, but it only shows Knuckles and Tails onscreen.

Now, personally, I think this series is perfectly capable of presenting a version of "family" that doesn't 100% mean the nuclear family dynamics. In other words, especially since images of Maddie and Tom weren't put onscreen during Tom's line, I like to think that harkens back to the wish Tom and Maddie expressed for Sonic back in movie 2 to find his squad (his team of best friends and wingment to grow up with). In essence, I personally do not believe this line means "oh Knuckles and Tails are your siblings now", especially since it would contradict that sentiment in movie 2 and (while I don't think Knuckles finds them family in a nuclear family way either) would be weird paired up with Knuckles calling the Whipple family "home" in the Knuckles series.

So yes. Family because they're friends, wingmen, comrades who have each other's backs and work together, not because they're siblings unified under one particular household.

I am very interested in the shot of Tom uncovering the picture Sonic drew of himself and Long Claw.

I suspected back after movie 2 that we wouldn't be done talking about Long Claw. Of course this is true by default if they want to touch on the Echidna/Owl war stuff any more, which they have in every installment thus far, but I mostly mean in terms of how Sonic's past.

Personally, especially with Knuckles turning out to be the Iblis trigger after the Knuckles series, and those lines from Long Claw about Sonic potentially being hunted for his power (even though we yet have no evidence the Echidnas were hunting Sonic for any purpose), I still think there's a possibility of the movie universe touching more on Sonic and Long Claw for bigger reveals into the past (quite possibly into Sonic's origins??)

But at baseline of course we will be getting parallels from Sonic's past to Shadow's. So I'd say that how much we touch on Long Claw and Sonic's past in this movie and the importance of it will remain to be seen.

(The following is partially a joke) Tonhon Chonlatee reference making it's way into Sonic movie 3??

Okay, so it seems to be that someone is still going to free Shadow on Prison Island? The visuals kind of suggest he just broke out, but that line from Commander Walters can also still suggest that someone breached the security (Ala SA2 Eggman) to facilitate the freeing of Shadow. In this case, I'm highly curious as to who will be doing it, and whether they will be present when Shadow exits the pod. Personally, after Movie 2 I hoped it would be Agent Stone, but we'll get our answer when the movie comes out.

WOW that shot of Shadow punching through the glass of his stasis pod is freaking EPIC. Definitely a fav scene of him in this trailer for me

TEAM SONIC MENTIONED! (Team Sonic is my favorite team, so movies 2 and 3 are wins from me in seeing team dynamics with them)

I am a shameless sontails shipper and lover of Tails so this shot is everything to me

Okay, so earlier in the trailer we saw Team Sonic separately in places all over the world. Here I think at least one of these is to show them looking for someone like Shadow with intent to stop him (or to stop another threat at baseline). Also in the trailer we see a short clip of Sonic searching in a room with a flashlight.

My first thought on this is that during the course of the movie, Team Sonic's secondary objective (either self imposed or given by GUN) is to find out more about Shadow and his past. So this scene could be related to that.

My second thought is that this scene could also be Sonic taking a look for clues on the arc, though I'm not sold on this interpretation.

Third, at baseline, this is clearly a scene of searching for someone or something. No matter who it is though, I suspect the reason or room is related to either Ivo or Gerald in some form. Plus the fact that Sonic is searching most likely means he entered the scene with intent to search rather than spontaneously deciding this.

Finally, though I don't have many thoughts here. A figure can be seen in the background in the right of this clip. Since they are not also searching with a flash light, this could be a scene where we see Sonic caught in the act of what he's doing.

Commander Walters talks about how similar Sonic and Shadow's stories are during the clip of Sonic searching, Shadow in the pod while Maria stands outside of it, both pressing their palms to the glass.

While not necessarily a confirmation, this is why I believe that scene of Sonic searching is related to Shadow's past or possibly Gerald.

Also, unrelated, I really love that clip of Shadow smiling in the pod at Maria while they press their palms together over the glass. I'm completely normal about it (sarcasm)

"But where you found family and friends"

This line from Commander Walters is overlayed over shots of Tails (during "family") and Knuckles (during "friends"), a line which (like the earlier family line) I'm sure the loudest Sonic fans are making 1k note posts about.

Anyhow, I have two interpretations of the intent of this clip in the trailer, especially since it's another scene where they neglected to show Tom and Maddie in the mini montage

1. Where the scenes are cut is meant to associate Knuckles more strongly with "friends" and Tails more strongly with "family". In this case, "family" will be used in a found family/found home manner that does not denote in nuclear family with/siblings to. In any case, while Knuckles and Tails are both his friends and undoubtedly part of his squad, it remains that Knuckles and Tails do not have the same relationship to Sonic. Despite all being friends, we see at the beginning of the Knuckles series that Tails is comfortable living with Sonic and his textual adoptive parents, and that he doesn't have the same problems as Knuckles fitting in as Sonic's roommate. Likewise, based upon Movie 2's attachment to Sonic in particular and love of being considered Sonic's friend (with those moments in movie 2), combined with what we see at the beginning of the Knuckles series, it's clear to me that Tails' home is with Sonic and Sonic in specific. Tails is Sonic's friend who considers him his home, but while Knuckles is also his friend, he goes on a journey in the Knuckles series which was meant for him to find his own home (which he finds in the Whipple family). In other words, I'm saying that one interpretation of this clip is to denote the difference in strength of bond to and relationship Sonic has to members of his squad. Tails is his family, his best friend, and Sonic is part of Tails' home. Knuckles is his friend, squad member, ally, but he does not find home in Sonic.

2. The downfall of interpretation 1 is that it contradicts what I said about Sonic considering them both his family, his best friends, his squad earlier with the other family line. So interpretation 2 asserts that the whole friends and family line is meant to be applied to team Sonic. Again, especially with the absence of Tom and Maddie, I believe this is not in a nuclear family way, but as in "they are my friends, my squad, my family". As in, Sonic feels connected to these two and feels that they are family to him in the sense that they are important to him and a big part of his life. The family one chooses to stay connected to.

For the record, I'm also biased towards this interpretation of the family lines (not just because I don't personally like the alternative), but because every main character thus far has avoided ever labeling his relationship to Tails or Knuckles as inherently sibling like. Sonic movie 2 even had Maddie and Tom at the very end saying Sonic had found his squad and best friends for growing up, and the beginning of the Knuckles series has Sonic call the two his roommates, while Maddie treats the two more like other kids that live in the house than necessarily *her* kids. Then there's also the Knuckles series ending, where Knuckles calls the Whipple family his home, but the series purposely chooses not to make it clear what his role would be in a nuclear family dynamic, only that he's a part of it. All of that juxtaposed with the fact that Tom and Maddie were explicitly confirmed as Sonic's parents in movie 2 (and combined with the fact that it's not taboo in Eng Sonic media to consider Sonic and Tails as bros or media in general to confirm characters of the same sex as basically adoptive siblings to each other) tells me that those involved in these movies purposely choose to consider these characters family to each other in a way that doesn't conform to nuclear family dynamics and friends to each other as well. In other words, they have had every available opportunity (especially if Sega wanted it or approved it) to confirm this sort of relationship outright (and might I mention that Sonic being given explicit adoptive parents is more big in terms of the past mandates than someone like Tails being a bro (which has been let into eng media on occasion in the past)), and have not done so. They have not given any indication they will do so. And I feel that at this point after showing us good examples of canonically platonic relationships that are important without necessarily being sibling/nuclear family dynamics, it would be a waste to just go "yeah they're siblings" and call it a day, ripping the complexity out of it.

But that's just me.

Right after the clip I just mentioned, we see Team Sonic race each other, with Tom and Maddie starting the race.

Now I've already seen postings about how this shot is confirmation about how Tails and Knuckles are so siblings to Sonic.

Since I have my own post here, I just want to say that at very baseline I think that reasoning is incorrect. This is because the Knuckles series, again, explicitly confirmed Knuckles' home to be with the Whipple family, in contrast to how the beginning hammers in how he doesn't fit in with the Wachowski family or feel quite at home with them. They literally cannot be canonically siblings to each other if they haven't referred to each other this way and if one of the characters involved in the scene doesn't even consider this family in question his home. At best to me the association of this clip and the words about friends and family beforehand implies that Sonic considers these 4 all parts of his family in different ways (again, not necessarily with all 4 fitting into nuclear family dynamics). I don't endeavor to say Sonic sees Knuckles and Tails as siblings to him (in a situation where the feelings aren't exactly the same both ways) because, again, Sonic outright avoids considering them this way, and considers them his friends and roommates explicitly in the first episode of the Knuckles series.

Anyways anyways. I digress. The point of this clip.

At this time I'm thinking either this is a friendly race they've asked Tom and Maddie to intervene for (possible), or this is the start of the journey earlier when we see the trio at different places all over the world. In other words, it's possible they started their separate journeys around the world with a race, intending to beat each other to doing something with a friendly contest.

"Shadow found only pain, and loss"

I know how people have been talking about this set of clips, but at this time I do not believe the fire (aftermath of possible explosion) we see is the original event on the Arc resulting in Maria's death. Yeah, sure, the movie universe isn't 1 to 1 with canon, but I really do not feel like that scene is depicting the arc. This instead reads as a scene to me where Gerald and Shadow are going through a painful moment of loss in the present and being cornered by GUN for capture. It seems more like a scene that occurs partway through the movie as an event that happens rather than a flashback.

Take that with a grain of salt though. That's just my interpretation, and there's not a lot of proof to find to back up any particular one.

We've also heard rumors of time travel being involved, so it's also possible there's a plot bit involving saving Maria and reversing the hurt that way and it tragically failing? Don't know.

This entire mini clip means quite possibly a bit too much to me for a mere trailer but I love their dynamic

I have talked about it before but damn. Knuckles "He is much more impressive than the hedgehog I fought previously"

We literally see a shot of Shadow revealing himself, and then Knuckles starts talking about how impressive he is.

I know there were a lot of jokes made in the last couple years that Sonic would see Shadow and instantly be enamored, but oh how the turntables! In the end, in this trailer at least, it's actually Knuckles who becomes instantly enamored. One look and he's calling him impressive. One look, and he's already ignoring any direction on Sonic's part to perhaps de-escalate the situation by talking to Shadow, because Knuckles wants to fight Shadow so badly it makes him look stupid.

The way the interaction is done reads to me that Knuckles wants to get a go at tussling with Shadow either more than the stakes of the plan at hand, or would want to despite reality. In other words, even if Shadow "switches sides" so to speak successfully here, Knuckles would still want to fight him for personal reasons.

Of course right after this we get the subject of a billion jokes about how Shadow hates Tails so much in specific that he goes out of his way to beat him up.

Where is that meme image of the guy looking out the window holding his cigarette, just tired? (Rhetorical question)

I did not think it would be need to said but here.

If you watch the scene, Shadow kicking Tails is not presented as more important or targeted than anything else. First of all, it is within a sequence where we see him take down the members of Team Sonic one by one in a single blow. Second of all, Tails' is actually the least focused on in the trailer. Knuckles punching Shadow only for Shadow to (presumably) break his wrist is shown as a big thing (especially as a call back to the first big clash between Sonic and Knuckles that was advertised a lot for movie 2). Shadow going for Tails is something he literally cuts behind Sonic to do, which quickly segues into him grabbing Sonic and using his air shoes to boost them high into the air so he can slam Sonic down into the ground. Tails being kicked here is presented like something he had to do to get to Sonic, not him going out of his way to beat up Tails. Seriously. How can that even be true when Knuckles and Sonic get flashier and longer beat downs?

Anyways, all that aside, this scene is very neat. It's very clearly to set up the disparity in power between Team Sonic and Shadow the same way it did between Sonic and Knuckles in movie 2, with the framing this time presenting Shadow as a powerhouse unlike anything anyone has ever faced. In other words, combatting Shadow will be more of an ordeal than combatting Knuckles was.

The scene where Tails says "this is a bad idea" and Sonic goes "when has that ever stopped me".

It would be completely fine and dandy if this does turn out to be about the crew looking for Robotnik and deciding to join with him. Personally, I think this is one of those cases where a line from a movie is cut in the trailer to show that it's about something when it really has to do with something else.

Besides the fact that we just don't know when or how everyone will learn Robotnik is alive (since it's pretty well considered by the main characters that he died at the end of movie 2), I think with Tails outright opposing this and Sonic looking angry, this scene is referring to something potentially more risky and dangerous than joining forces with Ivo Robotnik. Depending on how epic the scene is, this could predate a major moment

But I'm excited to see the context regardless of what it turns out to be!

Sorry I know I said it earlier but WHOO fat Robotnik. Hollywood fatphobia aside, I'm honestly glad that Jim Carrey has been winning his battle of moving his character closer visually to Robotnik's canon design.

It's pretty clear by the "we" have visitors that Stone has been with Robotnik taking care of him at some point since the ending of Movie 2. I remember a lot of us assumed the battle in movie 2 did kill Robotnik but that Movie 3 would involve Stone bringing him back somehow. Either way, though I know this was technically dependent on whether Jim Carrey would return to this movie, I do feel vindicated for saying "Robotnik isn't gone for good since we didn't see a body and GUN didn't find one at the end of movie 2".

Agent Stone and his sad wet eyes

So to go into a lot of detail would require a proper essay post, so I'm going to try to make this section as short as possible.

Now, as far as I've gathered since movie 2, Stone's sad wet eyes appear in 1 of 3 instances.

1. When he misses Robonik so so dearly (as seen in the beginning of Movie 2)

2. When he is jealous and fears being replaced by someone else Robotnik chooses to hang out with and go on his missions for the evil plan with (as seen during the scenes where Robotnik has Knuckles with him in the Mean Bean in movie 2)

3. When Robotnik continues to change from the exact kind of slick, collected, confident, and fashionable guy we see in movie 1 in ways which Agent Stone would percieve as him "getting worse" (As seen in movie 2 where Stone sees Robotnik again for the first time, remarking that he looks different, and in the annoyance he gets in movie 2 when Robotnik leaves him out of his plans and continues to include Knuckles rather than consult or use him (Stone))

Now, clearly it is not option 1, given that he is fully aware of Robotnik's location and has clearly been watching over him.

I also do not believe it is number 2, for two reasons.

1. The context clues imply Robotnik has likely only been around Stone all this time. There's no one already living in this space for Stone to be jealous of.

2. We see Stone and his bike blocking the path between Team Sonic and Robotnik, and it's Stone who brings Team Sonic inside to appeal to him. Since it's implied Stone chose to let them in and doesn't seem annoyed when he announces their presence, he does not have the sad wet eyes because he's jealous of their connection to Robotnik in any way.

So this leaves us with option 3: Robotnik is changing further in ways that are messing with Stone, and Stone sees it as Robotnik beginning to "fall from greatness" so to speak.

And I think this interpretation is actually pretty clear. We don't see evidence of a struggle on Stone, so it's unlikely he seriously fought Team Sonic. Rather, it seems to me that they told him they wanted to appeal to Robotnik to get him to help with protecting the world, and they convinced Stone to let them see Robotnik because Stone hopes their involvement (or such a mission) will get Robotnik out of whatever his current rut is (with the state of his hair and stache and the mess in the place he's staying in, it's pretty clear he's in a depressive rut). Stone is sad to see Robotnik this way and hopes Team Sonic can fix it.

We are not actually done with Stone's sad wet eyes though, as he still has them during the scene Robotnik retreats to the bathroom for an outfit change (yes, the scene where he rips off Stone's shirt). It's also worth noting here that Stone still sounds sad during this scene.

So, this is where I take the time to talk MORE about Agent Stone in relation to Ivo Robotnik (but again without going too in detail and doing too much outright essaying). This bit is connected to the previous part, but I wanted to give it its own section since this has to do with my prediction for the future.

My theory? Stone may be set up for an eventual Dr. Starline parallel.

Let me explain a bit.

So, if you don't know who Doctor Starline is, he origates in the IDW Sonic comic adaptation. He is a very intelligent (and fashionable) scientist who holds great admiration for Robotnik, and is obsessed with him. From the beginning he'd put Robotnik on a pedestal and had wanted not only to be like him, but to be vital to him. Starline wanted to be a great help Robotnik to take over the world, and essentially superimposed himself into the position of Robotnik's number 2 (a position comparable to Stone's in the Sonic Movies, Snively in SATAM and the Archie comics, and Grimer's in the Fleetway comics). Over the course of Starline's time together with Robotnik as his self imposed number two, the two start out fairly strong only to clash more and more often as Robotnik expects a lackey who only does what he says, and Starline expects a partner who will listen to his advice. Tensions grow, Starline becomes more disillusioned in the genius and superiority of his hero, and finally, Starline takes it upon himself to be insubordinate. Believing that Eggman's plans are short sighted and destined to fail, he takes it upon himself to "fix things" by going behind Robotnik's back and bringing in the Zeti as (assumed) pawns. It is after this act where Starline decides he needs to save his hero from himself that Eggman tosses him to the side and fires him.

Now, it's worth mentioning that Eggman so easily tosses him aside because there is one thing Starline does not have in common with the other examples of Eggman's number two in other media. This is that they have the advantage of time spent with Eggman, allowing him to become attached to them enough that even smaller acts of insubordination aren't enough for him to fire them completely.

But in any case, Robotnik didn't completely reject Starline after this. He was of the mind that he'd be willing to take Starline back if Starline begged at his feet and apologized. However, since Starline had too much pride, he did not do this. Rather, he begins to believe that Robotnik still is a grand genius, just that he's short sighted and can never take over the world with how he handles the threat of Sonic. So, Starline takes it upon himself to take over the world for Eggman (since he believes he himself is smart enough to do so without falling into Eggman's folly), and then dreams of doing such a good job that it's Eggman who begs to he at his side, since Starline is hung up on Eggman's rejection and wants him to choose him.

So, what does this have to do with Stone?

Well, I have no doubt that Stone was a smart man from the start given his position related to the US gov and that he's been able to perfectly Robotnik's assistant. But you can also take Eggman's word for it as well, courtesy of the prequill comic (which takes place between movies 1 and 2)

It is also by this very comic that we know that Stone was the only man Robotnik trusted to enact his plans in his absense, and perhaps the only man he had ever shared the secrets of his manifesto.

And it's how we know that Stone undoubtedly undergoes major changes by movie 2 compared to movie 1. Not only does he have it in his mind that he is Robotnik's number 2, a man personally responsible for doing what Robotnik cannot with the mission of personally rebuilding Robotnik's glory, but this entire experience contains the purpose of molding Stone to be more like Robotnik himself.

Stone by movie 2 is more cunning and calculating in the way Robotnik is. He was given a personal mission to rebuild his master's former glory, and he throws his entire self into it. It is not a stretch to assume that Stone is saddened upon meeting Robotnik again in movie 2 because it did not match his expectations.

All in all, especially since he'd given Robotnik the tools for a makeover, I think from Stone's end he was expecting for Robotnik to return to him a man who has gone through an ordeal but maintains his style and greatness (essentially, looking like he did before), as a man of who would congratulate Stone on his work in his absense (praise him even), and take him at his side as they work together to enact Robotnik's world takeover plan.

But Stone's expectations are dashed as Robotnik arrives in a new fit, with a new stache, seemingly more mentally unstable than before (keep in mind, Robotnik's thing in movie 1 was that he was more intelligent and thought differently than everyone else, not that he was unstable. He was the kind of "genius who is written off as unstable but sees what no one else does", but since his involvement with Sonic HAS been seemingly less cool and collected and more unstable), and with a space echidna at his side. In the span of one meeting, Stone had the means to feel replaced and to feel as if Robotnik was falling short of his glory/falling from greatness as he's changed.

And then over the course of movie 2, though there are people who do Movie Ivo character study who'd agree that Robotnik does genuinely care about Stone, just is bad at showing it or doesn’t show it conventionally, it's pretty clear that Stone himself doesn't really see it. He doesn't feel valued. He doesn't even get to be used by Robotnik as he was in movie 1, actively on the road trip with him. Nope. Robotnik leaves him at the Mean Bean most of the movie.

And this is why Stone doesn't seem happy most of the movie. This is why it excites him so that Robotnik accepts him at the end of the movie and makes room for him as a vital helper.

What I assert, in essence, is that after the prequill comic, Stone can no longer just be okay in his role as he was before with little praise/acknowledgement, nor can he even he even take solace in the fact that Robotnik will always keep him around because he needs him.

So here's where the Starline parallel comes in. Now that Stone sees himself as a much more important figure in Robotnik's life, with a mission given to him by a version of Ivo who Stone could possibly see as "at his most sane" to make sure he succeeds and attains his former glory, I think he sees his number two role as less of a guaranteed thing and something he must fight to keep (this means stuff like putting himself out there at the end of movie 2 and begging to go with Robotnik, or taking it upon himself to find Robotnik after the battle and support him). And so, I suspect (especially with those shots we got in the trailer, Stone being sad at presenting Robotnik's current state, his potentially angrier faces as he's finally allowed to groom Robotnik and shave his hair, his continued sadness even as Robotnik has moved out of his rut) that we're going to see Robotnik to continue to take Stone's presence as his "sycophant" for granted, while Stone continues to become disillusioned with his idol and master.

I predict Stone will continue to become so disillusioned with Robotnik due to seeing him as a man falling from greatness and due to lack of acknowledgement and appreciation, that Stone will eventually turn on Robotnik. But not to stop him or to become better than him. No. I predict, Starline style, Stone will take it upon himself to restore Eggman to his former glory, to eventually go behind Eggman's back and enact his own plans, to attempt to take over the world for Robotnik, and to accomplish it all in such an amazing display that Robotnik has to express that he wants him around and to acknowledge him as a partner and to praise him.

At least, that could be the plan/setup. It would remain to be seen how these two characters resolve this event (essentially, in which ways this diverges from the parallel and the two inevitably come back together again). After all, no matter what ends up happening between Stone and Robotnik, I think something will need to give and change eventually, and the two will need to make their feelings/wishes...more clear to each other

But in the end, this is just my theory. I do not yet know how much of this will actually come to pass, but I hope it's food for thought for you all.

By the way, I too love the Stobotnik scenes in this trailer. We are eating good👌👌👌 However, it really is hard not to see that scene where Ivo rips Stone's shirt off as another moment where Stone doesn't feel appreciated. Ivo over here ripping off a man's shirt (gay. Sorry. The people are right when they asked if it was gay for him to just rip it off and then choose to wear it during the movie), and it's entirely possible the man in question thinks that this is proof that Robotnik doesn't think much of him in this state (even if Stone is clearly not going to keep him from doing what he wants here)

"When we're done, there won't be anything left"

Cool, so Shadow is actively planning on destroying the world here. Potentially to satisfy revenge.

Interesting. So the scene with the Chao mascots also looks like an ambush is happening, with Team Sonic specifically being targeted with missiles

"What did you do?" "What I had to."

Movie Sonic has his classic extremely angry face here too, so Shadow must have done something major. It's either world ending, or it put the lives of his family and friends in HUGE jeopardy (or both).

AND FINALLY. Gerald reveal

I cannot express the surprise I felt here. This scene shows us that Gerald is here in the present, not just a man who died 50 years ago by execution. So, possible time travel shenanigans or not, the fact that he's involved in the present conflict (perhaps with Shadow personally) is highly interesting and I'm excited to see where this goes.

Also, based on the layout of the room here, it's potentially possible that either this is the same room Sonic is searching earlier in the trailer, or that Gerald had multiple lab like living spaces he was jumping between over the years to stay under the radar, and that Team Sonic and Team Robotnik ended up finding Gerald while looking into clues on Shadow

Nya: i nearly ripped off the top of my thumb's nail. i've been wearing band aids for a few weeks. my thumb print has become very smooth it's weird

Heartslabyul

Riddle: Gets extremely flustered yet happy. You are putting so much trust in him to keep you safe during your snooze and he takes that very seriously. Goes stone still, could be in the most uncomfortable position known to man and will still deal with it until you wake up. RIP anyone that wakes you up they will be losing their head for a while.

Trey: Gets a soft smile on his face. If you fall asleep while riding him he'll carefully bend forward slightly so you're at a more comfortable angle. He'll stay still for the most part but occasionally walk around to create a soothing rocking motion.

Cater: Also gets a soft smile on his face. He'll do his best to make sure you're laying on his body because he's warm and soft. Checks on you every now and then. Plays with your hair if he can reach.

Ace: Wing blanket wing blanket wing blanket. You'll probably end up using his chest as a pillow so he keeps you warm with his wings. Will preen your hair gently with a big smile.

Deuce: He is so honored and his love for you has increased tenfold. Goes stone stiff and growls loudly at anyone who dares to disturb your slumber. Will make a rumbling purr every so often.

Savannaclaw

Leona: Anyone who tries to get near will be given a death glare and a pointy teeth filled snarl. Nobody is allowed near while he's on guard. You are warm and safe with him. If you sleep first he will not be sleeping. Instincts man, instincts. His love for you grows immensely and he will make sure you have a peaceful rest. Might start grooming you if you're in reach of his tongue.

Ruggie: His smile is so big and his tail is going crazy. You'll wake up to a yeen staring at you with absolute love in his eyes. He makes sure you're as comfy as possible and hums a soothing tune.

Jack: The first time it happens you won't be asleep for long his tail is going to make his whole body shake from the force. He is so mad at himself and doesn't even try to hide it. Give him some pats to let him know it's alright and snuggle back in for another go. This time and from then on his tail won't be a bother. It was just because this was the first time he was caught off guard. Another that growls at nap waking offenders.

Octavinelle

Azul: Internally screaming. He has a huge blush on his face and is so glad you can't see it. You will wake up in a gentle entanglement of tentacles to a singing octopus running his hands through your hair and rubbing you back. Does his best to keep you nice and warm. Disturbances get smacked. Hard.

Jade: On that outside he looks the same. On the inside he's got fireworks going off with kazoos in the background. It's not often he finds someone willing to sleep in his presence due to his unsettling aura and to have his master do so paves the way for him letting down his mask around them. Wraps his tail around you and plays with your hair. Any with the balls to approach get traumatized by his glare.

Floyd: Gets uncharacteristically calm. Like Jade he's got fireworks and kazoos but as much as he wants to squeeze you he waits until you wake up. Floyd is lucky you were willing to adopt him alongside his twin despite his chaotic nature and this lets him know you don't secretly regret it. Hugs you close and hums while playing with your hair. Also traumatizes disturbances with a glare.

Scarabia

Kalim: Like Floyd he becomes super calm and quiet. Growing up in a big household he knows very well how nice it is to have someone you can cuddle up with for a nap and not worry about them waking you. Loves when you hug his tail, he'll let out a happy giggle.

Jamil: Literal hearts in his eyes. You are not going anywhere anytime soon when you wake this is one of the few moments Jamil will demand to be spoiled right then and there. First you rescued him for that godawful home and now this? His loyalty is yours forever.

Pomefiore

Vil: There's a slight blush on his face as he moves your hair out of your eyes. You don't treat him like an untouchable beauty (in fact that’s quite the opposite you’re always petting him please be mindful of the hair and fur) and spoil him with actual genuine praise and love. His heart is about to explode. Already thinking about what he wants to do for you to say 'I love you'.

Rook: Also gets literal hearts in his eyes. He's so happy you graced him with such an honor and takes his job very seriously. One of the very few times he growls at others. He watches you sleep, nothing but absolute adoration and gentleness in them.

Epel: Ego boost of the century. He is gonna protect your nap with his life. He can't growl or hiss but he will bare his fangs at any who dare come close. You will wake up to a happy antler bunny demanding pets and kisses for a reward.

Ignihyde

Idia: Hair is a bright pink and mouth a big toothy smile. This is the moment he starts to feel genuine love towards you. Makes sure everything is perfect as can be while you nap. Might reach back to play with your hair. Gives a warning nicker to anyone that dares to interrupt your nap. The really ballsy ones get chased away by a small fireball.

Ortho: Has a huge grin on his face and look of triumph. Takes his duty very seriously, no warnings from him you just get chased by a fireball. Will spend the whole nap trying to reach a blanket juuust out of reach because what if you catch get sick from laying on his cold body? Reward him with pets and forehead kisses he’s such a good boy.

Diasomnia

Malleus: You are in the safest spot in the whole world the moment your eyes close. He notices immediately and spares no time getting you to maximum comfort. Uses magic to levitate you between his forearms, summons your favorite blanket and pillow, and makes the room the perfect temperature just for you. His gaze is filled with nothing but love and adoration as he watches you snooze, humming a tune as his fingers massage your back. Anyone who has the courage to try and wake you gets teleported outside and locked out until you awaken.

Lilia: Gives you a soft smile and look as you drift away. Gently picks you up and brings you to your bed so he can watch over you from above. If he can’t he’ll lay on his back and cover you with his wings instead. Sings a tune while you dream away. No one tries to wake you. One look from the old fae and they are immediately doing a 180 out the room no thank you sir.

Silver: Oh mah gwad he goes from sleepy prince charming to ultra serious guard in a snap. Your blanket is his tail and his side is your pillow. When his eyes are on you they are filled with hearts and gaze is the softest of them all. When there’s an intruder they become murderous and terrifying he got it from his pops.

Sebek: Puffs out his chest with pride and takes the job super ultra mega seriously. Anything in reach that will increase your comfort is used to its full potential. You will wake up to find yourself in a makeshift nest and a happy crocodile man greeting you asking if your nap was excellent. Like some of the others this is probably the moment he begins to feel genuine love for you and becomes more open around you. Please call him a good boy you will not regret it I promise.

Bonus

Che’nya: Purring immediately a kitty cat lullaby to block out any noise. His tail curls around you and he’s humming a tune to go with his purrs. Unless someone is able to find you without their eyes you won’t be awoken his unique magic especially comes in handy for nap time. If you are found he scares the unwanted guests with some little tricks he’s saved for occasions just like this.

Cheka: He puffs out his chest, ready to prove he’s more than capable to protect his master! He crosses his arms across his chest and straightens up ready to scare away all enemies of your glorious nap! But your body heat feels nice, and your scent always puts him at ease. No, he can’t sleep right now! But maybe closing his eyes for a minute will help wake him up…

Alright. This shouldn’t be so bad. Just go to the house, talk it out with sonic, and.. figure everything out about the kingdom later. Right? That shouldn’t be hard. She was a princess, this can’t go super bad.

As blaze made her way up to the door where she recalled shadow and sonic lived, she sucks in a nervous breath and hums lightly, moving to lift her paw and lightly knock upon the door. Did amy tell sonic anything about why she’d be visiting? She hopes do, it might be awkward to just suddenly show up to his door without any context- sure blaze had been through much worse in the embarrassing interactions category but this was.. a touchy subject. Or she assumed it was. So she hoped this could go well. Sonic was the kindest soul she knew, it shouldn’t go bad. Deep breaths, now. Deep and collected breaths. She didnt want sonic thinking this was an emergency or something bad if she looked nervous or had a fast heartbeat.

it was almost an immediate answer. no less, coming from The speedy hedgehog afterall.. and it didn't help that Shadow had lightheartedly and temporarily put him on house arrest after recent events. Sonic had returned the Master Emerald to Knuckles and caught up with Tails.. and now he gets a visit From Blaze. That wasn't a complaint, Sonic was just glad he didn't have to sneak out. it was boring sitting around a house doing slim to nothing when Shadow was out on a mission of his own.

' ' Hey Blaze! what brings you here? not that I'm complaining, Shadow told me not to leave the house today and im trying to give this whole 'listening' thing a chance for a bit. ' '

Sonic chuckled. he was feigning for a reason to break that rule of the day. unaware that this was going to lead to a serious talk from the Princess of course.

Sefoni's stretching her arms over her head as if she's just gotten out of a great yoga session, splattered with the same viscera as you are. Everything is dead or unconscious now. All that's left to hear is wind, your heartbeat, Sefoni's humming, and the idling engines of a transport shuttle.

Something else -- a stuttering, anxious pulse. Far too quick to be Sol.

One more left.

You take slow, intentional steps up the catwalk and lazily turn your pupils up toward the lone pilot left over, training a rifle on you with unsteady hands. An ambush. He must have thought himself quite clever, hiding for this long while everyone died around him. You blink intently, head already starting to throb as you make eye contact.

You stare at each other. It burns discomfort through you like newspaper catching alight, but you hold his gaze for as long as it takes.

His hands shake. His finger tenses on the trigger aimed right between your horns, but he can't quite commit. Confusion, resistance, panic -- all flit across his face. You're too tired to panic. Too angry to loosen your iron grip on his autonomy.

"You have been working too hard," you murmur, watching his spine snap to attention, straight as a pole at the sound of your voice. "Go ahead, take a nap."

Clawed fingers flex, resist, shake with the effort, even as the wrists and arms move swift and smooth, mechanically. A roundabout motion, as if practiced.

With a full-bodied brutality you doubt you could muster up in your current post-strife comedown, the pilot crashes the butt of his rifle into the side of his own head, sending him hurtling horn-first into the board -- horns smash into the console, sparks shooting everywhere. Something oozes from the controls. Not blood, though, you'd recognize blood.

Sickkk.

Fingers to his carotid, as if you can't hear his pulse from here. He's unconscious.

You don't let yourself feel bad. He's only about thirty meters from a hospital, after all.

"Is there anything fun left to do in here?" Sefoni bounces up from behind you smelling like a rainbow drinker buffet, picking flecks of gore out of her hair and wiping her face with the remains of a sheer veil. "I could keep going."

"No, I'm afraid that was the last one. Come along." You pretend not to notice the little pout, the sulking as she follows behind you. "If you had gotten here earlier, there would have been more left for you."

Sefoni gives a maniacal little grin, all teeth and gleaming eyes.

"Oh, I'm sorry for trying not to draw attention by acting suspiciously at the party."

"You should be," you accuse, a fondness in your voice even as you rub a thumb over your bruised knuckles. "I am glad you showed up, though."

The pod is enormous, filled with something that looks like sopor, though you can't smell it. Even from this close, it's hard to hear Sol's pusher. The material is dense.

The console it's attached to just reads like... gibberish. Tapping the haptic interface with your knuckle pulls up requirements for administrator credentials, mandatory blood sample, ocular scan, password, override key. Hal pipes up in the corner of your glasses to ask for just a second, but you're tired. And you're sick of this place.

Palms pressed to the surface of the pod, you close your eyes and let the space between you flood into your perception, hyperawareness singing across every nerve in your body. The molecules that make up Sol, the molecules that make up everything else. The exact delineation between stasis goo and pod exterior -- the silhouette of your friend's shape begins to take form. You pick out every strand of hair, every tiny membrane on her tail, each lash and itty bitty bump and pore. Her missing horns, her crooked fangs.

The pod is not too terribly dissimilar to an avocado, if you think about it.

Once you're satisfied you won't nick her accidentally, you press lightly against the pod with your palms. There's a clatter behind you as a razor-thin, perfect ring of metal you have teleported falls and clatters to the floor, dancing in a circle as it flattens to the ground. As if caught by surprise, the equal remaining halves of the pod split apart and fall to the floor with a clatter.

The viscosity of the slime gives you just enough time to reach forward and pick Sol out of it before she can fall to the floor, pulling her close to your chest, breathing weakly and covered in ooze. You take a step back, cognizant of your aching back, Sefoni behind you. You lean a shoulder against her, make Her part of You. The shape of you both -- the shape of all three of you, a 3D object rendered in space. Lightly, she places a hand on your back.

Reinforcements in 15 seconds. Escape plan?

"Take a deep breath," you instruct Sefoni -- it's the only warning you give before you're all standing in your transportalizer room, dripping slime and viscera all over the floor.

Hello there, love your blog, it's one of my favourite ones, I had a question... I read a comment that said Amy is no longer interested on Sonic anymore and that this is shown on frontiers, that they will make their own paths and lives, is this true?

Hey, anon! I'm glad you enjoy my blog! 🥰💙

No, no, Amy is definitely still madly in love with Sonic 🤭😁 The main reason she's been acting more tame and not so open about it is really just due to character development/maturity. According to Sega, "she's not [physically] chasing after Sonic anymore, but he's still #1 in her heart!" 💙🩷

Sonic Frontiers actually has a decent amount of Sonamy content, but moreso if you squint. 😁 First of all, it tends to address the situation more from Sonic's end, in his moments of saying romance-coded things like "Wish we were sharing an umbrella, Amy," and "Amy, I should've made up my mind sooner." 🥹

Sonic has always been shy about his feelings and therefore never said anything about said feelings to her, and he's more of an "actions speak louder than words" type of guy, but as she shared her desires to share her love with the world, he worried a little that he may have lost his chance. However, Frontiers also makes clear that his friends' plans to go on their own paths were not permanent. Especially seen in Amy's case when she told Sonic her plans, and Sonic replied, "I'm sure you'll do great. I wanna hear all about it when you get back!" 💙

As a bonus, the Final Horizons update treated us to a bit more Sonamy content as well. 🤩 In a conversation between Amy and Sage, Sage identified Amy as "the one who admires Sonic." Amy, with a bit of her younger behavior slipping out, replied with no shortage of sass, "Oh. And are you a fellow admirer? Hm?" 😂

There were a few conversations between Sonic and Amy, during one of which Sonic tried to tell Amy to take care of herself as well as the Koco. Amy ruefully retorted that she could say the exact same thing back to him. Sonic admitted that she got him there, and confidently stated that they would get through this together.

And of course, after all this, my favorite Sonamy moment of the whole game. After everything was over, his friends were restored, and he reunited with them.

The way Amy laughed and practically launched herself into his arms, Sonic's surprised little "oh!" but the way he welcomed the hug, and kept one arm around her as he high fived Tails and fist bumped Knuckles. 🥰 First of all, it's so obvious Amy had been dying to do that the whole game, and we can imagine it was tough on Sonic to be touch-deprived for an extended period of time once again (after the Metal Virus).

I think the main reason Amy didn't run to hug him when he freed her was because she immediately saw he was somehow struggling and likely didn't want to hurt him. (But then realized she wouldn't have been able to touch him, anyway. 🥲) Although it would've been kinda funny if she HAD tried to hug him and just fell straight through. 😂

I think it's worth noticing that Sonic has had this response to Amy's hugs several times lately. Instead of avoiding them, he lets her hug him and actually puts an arm around her in return. I've got a couple more examples from IDW.

subnautica au part 12

Tails Pov

Warnings;

I looked up at the sky as the sun goes down, my ears lowering. Amy hasn't returned yet. It been two days. I curl my tails around my belly. Knuckles walks over and places his hand on my head. "She's not back yet."

"Then we'll give her one more day and me and Lulu will go after her." Knuckles say. I whimper scared that Amy might be hurt. Knuckles frowns. "it's okay Amy's a taught chick. She'll be fine."

"True, I just....We don't know what's out in these waters... We don't know if something more dangerous is lurking out there. I mean... we've found seven pods Knuckles....Seven. Each with no survivors."

"Tails I bet things will start to-"

"No." I cut him off "Stop it. I may be twelve but stop treating me like a child. Ive been on missions and in war as much as you have." I watch as knuckles frowns, His purple eyes Dulling at the thought of what we've all gone through.

"I know. I just. Tails your supposed to be a kid. Your supposed to go fly your model airplain after school and go hang out with friends your age."

I frown lowering my ears. "that would be nice....But honestly I'd never trade this life for the world."

Knuckles smiled sadly and weakly jokes, "even if we're stuck on this planet forever?"

"Even if we were stuck in the viod of space forever." i say smiling.

Suddenly we both jump up at the sound of a scream from inside the pod. We quickly open the hatch and climb down only to see Lulu's hair smoking as if Shes been electrocuted and Sonic laying on the floor laughing his quills off.

"What happened?" I ask confused

"Lulu tried to mess with the solar batteries" Sonic chockes out giggling as Lulu caughs out a puff of smoke and smiles.

"But I lived" She states proudly.

everyone chuckles at her words and we all grab some rations. "I think im going to go out and make a bigger base. Sonic would you like to jion me?"

Sonic green eyes found my blue and he smiles. "Sure bro. After all the water in the shallows isn't to bad."

I smile and nod hopping up and grabbing my tank, sonic following behind me. I grin and jump into the water the bubbles floating through the water around me. I look up as sonic dives in and start to swim west. Sonic swim Infront of me challenging me to a race and I grin accepting and racing back against him.

We get to an opening near the edge of the shallows away from the radiation and look to each other in silent agreement that this is where our base should be.

Sonic starts clearing the rocks and plants being hesitant to go too far from me which is understandable. I'm just happy he's in the water and not stuck on the Pod. I grab my building device and start with the main part of the base. Making a hatch and solar system for the base. As soon as it was online I go in and lay out some storage.

Sonic looks through the glass hatch but doesn't enter which surprises me a bit. I come out to see and I giggle, and I see Sonic playing with the shuttle bugs like he did with the choa back home. My ears lower and I smile sadly. I'm so glad my big brother get time to be a kid. He went from war to raising me. He barely had a childhood from the stories I've heard.

I glance back at the base and start adding more and more. The base was pretty big even going out of the shallows a bit. Finally, I was out of Titanium. I sealed the last bit off and came out to find sonic had gathered more but I laugh when I see the acid mushrooms that are in his quills. A little shuttle bug resting on his tank. I swim down cleaning his quill and motioned to go back to the pod. He grins and nods dashing in front of me and laughing racing me back home.

Inukag week, Day 1: Love Languages

In My Arms

Kagome's return to the medieval period, being as long-awaited as it was, did not pass without fanfare. The village had welcomed her back with open arms, and held a small festival to celebrate - nothing too extravagant, it was still planting season after all, but it was amazing to know just how many people had missed her, beyond her core group of feudal friends.

By the time the first month passed, things had mostly settled into a routine that Kagome was only too happy to fall into. The familiarity had kicked in, even as she adjusted to the vast changes that had been made in her absence.

Shippo had hit an early growth spurt and almost came up to her hip now. He was still quite short for his age, but she didn't expect that he would get very tall. Sango and Miroku had babies, two beautiful little girls and the most adorable baby boy Kagome had seen since Sota was born. Fatherhood had relaxed Miroku, if only by a little, and Sango was the most fiercely protective mama bear, exactly as Kagome had expected her to be.

But the largest change, of course, was with Inuyasha. Kagome knew in her heart how they felt about each other, but they hadn't actually said it yet. A thin layer of the normalcy she remembered was still there - it was only a matter of a few days following her return that the two of them were bickering like no time had passed at all.

But no matter the argument or insult thrown, every barb was dulled by the fact that Inuyasha had barely stopped touching her since she returned.

Any time they sat down for a meal or conversation, he was tucked up against her side, assuming he hadn't sat first and pulled her right down into his lap. Walking through the village or woods? It was only a matter of time before his hand found her back or his fingers tangled with hers. He'd been favoring holding her hand more lately, but she supposed it was at least partially because she had made a habit of lifting their joined hands to kiss his knuckles. She'd noticed the way his expression softened when she did it, and if he'd had a tail - as she often wished he did, when they first met and she had struggled to read him - she was certain it would be wagging.

She had almost asked about it, the first time she found him leaning on her during dinner the night she returned, but the way his ears drooped when she said his name stopped her in her tracks before she could say a word more. And hey, it wasn't as if she was complaining, right? Why would she? So she'd asked if he had enough rice and smiled at how he relaxed even further into her as the meal progressed.

That evening, when he had sat up against the wall of Kaede's hut, putting himself between her and the door the way he always did, she had stayed in place for only a minute or two before crawling closer and resting her head in his lap.

From there, everything had just… fallen into place.

Now, a month into her new life, she knew she couldn't be happier with her decision. She'd taken up priestess training with Kaede again, and was always ready to help Sango with the kids. And Inuyasha was always nearby. He'd been more than a bit antsy as the weeks wore on, and Kagome found herself the tiniest bit relieved when Miroku came around to let Inuyasha know they'd been hired for an exorcism to the north, maybe two days walk from the village. She thought it would be a good opportunity for Inuyasha to let off some steam - he'd been in the village with her for a month now, and she knew too well how anxious that could make him.

"Nah. I'm not feelin' it this time around. You and Shippo can handle it, right?"

Sango and Kagome looked up from where Hisui was laying, Sango arching a brow at him while Kagome's furrowed in confused concern.

"Are you sure, Inuyasha? Everything's been so peaceful lately, it might be a while before we get another job."

"Yeah, I'm good. Hey! Maybe Sango can go and Kagome and I can handle the brats!"

The way Sango picked up the baby and held him to her while glaring daggers at Inuyasha said that they would not be allowed to "handle the brats" without her just yet. Kagome stood from her spot on the grass, picking up a nearby bucket.

"I'm… gonna go get more water for the kettle," she hummed, only getting a few paces away before she heard footsteps start up behind her.

She led Inuyasha a little ways away from the rest of the group, waiting until he reached out to tangle his fingers with her free hand to speak.

"I think you should go with Miroku."

"He'll be fine on his own. We haven't run into anything too powerful in over a year."

"That's not what I mean, and I think you know it," she hummed, pulling him closer and releasing his hand so she could wrap her arm around his middle. No escaping this conversation. She saw his ears lower, but his arm automatically mirrored hers. "Don't get me wrong; I love having you close at hand every minute of every day. I love holding hands and cuddling at night. But we need to be able to go off and do our own thing for a while. It's been a month since I got back, and you're already going stir-crazy."

"I'm fine, it's not a big deal," he but back, sounding more than a little grumpy.

"Oh, please. I know you well enough to know when you're itching for a fight. Really, Inuyasha, you can leave the village for a couple of days! Sango and I can look after the kids and hold down the fort until you get back."

"It's not that simple. What if-"

"If anything happens here, Sango and I can handle it. Shippo and Kilala will take the kids somewhere safe while we deal with whatever demon decides that attacking us is worth dying for."

"Kagome-"

"And again, zero complaints about the cuddling, but you really don't need to babysit me! I'll be right where you left me when you come back-"

"You disappeared in front of my eyes! If you're going to get taken away from me again, I at least want to be here to say goodbye!"

Kagome felt her eyes go wide, and Inuyasha winced a little at his own outburst. A brief, tense silence fell between them before Kagome's expression went soft, and she reached out, placing her hands gently on the sides of his face.

"It's happened before." Inuyasha tersely reminded her, eyes cast downward. "The jewel's come back before, it could happen again, and I don't- I can't lose you again. But if something is gonna take you away, I want to at least hold you until you go."

She took a deep breath, an apologetic look crossing her face. Inuyasha had gradually become more physically affectionate over their time together, so while she'd expected a little separation anxiety, she had thought the new closeness was just the natural expression of their relationship. She wished she had noticed his concern sooner, if only so that she could have assuaged his fears.

"Inuyasha," Kagome murmured, waiting until his amber eyes met hers. "I'm not going anywhere. Not anymore. I couldn't say why, but I'm as certain as I can be, I'm here to stay. I know it's scary. Being back here with you all has felt like a dream, and sometimes I worry I'm going to wake up."

She pulled his face down so she could press her forehead to his. Her hands moved down his chest and wrapped around his middle, giving him a warm smile.

"But I'm here. You're not getting rid of me that easily again. And if a human, a demon, or fate itself tries to take me away again, you know I'll fight tooth and nail to get back to you."

She felt his arms close around her, and he leaned a little more heavily into her, eyes falling shut. In a voice smaller than any she'd ever heard from him before, he asked, "Promise?"

"I promise," she murmured back, squeezing him tight against her. "So here's what's going to happen: You're going to go with Miroku. You're gonna exorcize whatever Demon you've been hired to handle. And in a few days time, you'll be back in my arms. Just like you are now. Okay?"

Inuyasha sighed, but after a moment, offered a small smile, pulling away enough to meet her eyes again.

"Okay," he finally allowed, reaching up to brush her bangs out of her eyes.

"Good. Now hurry on - the sooner you get going, the sooner you'll be back."
